Episode description

Today’s dose of “Vitamin D” is dedicated to keep on, keepin’ on. In life, there are moments when you may feel that your back is up against the wall. Moments where you may feel like life has tried every last nerve in your body, that you realize the only way out is to keep pressing forward. See, the moment we decide to wallow in our discomfort, we become stagnant. We become stuck. We lose our ability to move, especially when it seems that we are on our last leg. No one promised that life was going to be easy, but choosing to keep on, keepin’ on oh it will definitely be worth it.

You know, some may look at my life and say, “You didn’t get accepted into Howard? How did you get a scholarship, graduate with honors and host your graduation?” “Oh Dawn, You moved to New York on a 3-month fellowship as a job? How did you last 5 years and get an article in New York Times? “Dawn, you watched your mother take her last breath? How did you get through that?” My answer to it all is that you have to keep on, keepin’ on. You can’t allow life to happen to you, you must happen to life. You must keep your eyes on the prize. More times than not we have the tendency to focus on the obstacles in our journey, rather than focus the purpose of our journey. Some of us get caught up in trying to survive, that we actually forget to live. I want you to live your life. Live your life on purpose and for a purpose.

In Jill Scott’s hit single, “I Keep,” the sultry diva expresses that no matter what obstacles come your way you must “keep moving forward, pressing onward, striving further… keep on laughing, keep on living, keep on loving… keep on dreaming keep on achieving, keep on believing…keep smiling when [you] come through ...cry when [you] need to.” You see how simple that is? Life wasn’t meant to be easy, but it will definitely be worth it as long as you keep on, keepin’ on!

That's it for your dose of "Vitamin D." Be sure to follow me on all social media @DawnDaiSpeaks and until next time, always remember, "you are your greatest asset!"
