Episode description

In life, you have to choose to be great. It's not something that is by happenstance. You have to declare. And I'm reminded of that when I was listening to this track by Jazmine Sullivan. It's entitled "Stand Up" and it's from the soundtrack from the film "Till" about Emmett Till. And I want you to declare that, "I will stand up."

See, half the time we don't stand up because we are afraid of who we are. But I implore you to show up as you are, how you are right now. In it she says, "I used to hide from the light. I was coward, too ashamed to be me. So afraid of my power 'til one day Mama said, I got something to offer. Just look in the mirror to see it. Now it's up to you to believe it." Do you believe who you say you are?

She goes on to say, "What is your reason? What is you fighting for? I see you searching. Do you believe in yourself? Because ain't nobody else who can do what you do. Someone's counting on you." Have you ever thought that that person could be you? To fill out all of your dreams, all of your aspirations and let alone you can inspire somebody else to be great. So I want you to declare, "I will stand up."
