You come first, and why prioritizing your self-care matters - with Amanda Hallam
Episode description
What’s on your mind, unicorn? 🦄 Send me a text!
How do you prioritize your self care while continuing to step into your life's work?
Amanda Hallam is a true unicorn who has been called to use her creative gifts in many ways. We've been working together for the past year as she steps further into her purpose to support others with their self care, through her business Modern Self-Care. Along the way, she has learned to lean into her joy – even when facing challenging questions and uncovering old beliefs she held in her mind and body.
We've previously spoken about reiki on the podcast, and my newfound love and appreciation for the modality. In addition to coaching people in supportive self care practices, Amanda is also a reiki master whose gifts I have experienced first-hand. I felt called to introduce my community to her as a trusted resource for energy healing. She's an amazing talent, and I'm thrilled for her to offer her reiki gifts to clients in my upcoming program, Made for More.
Enjoy this episode, and reflect for yourself:
- What old stories or limiting beliefs could be stopping me from fully stepping into my gifts?
- What is one simple self-care practice I can add into my day today that makes me feel joyful?

Hey, I'm Amanda! I'm a self-care advocate, empowerment coach, and Reiki Master.
I founded Modern Self-Care because I know what it feels like to put everyone else ahead of myself. I understand that not having your needs met can lead you to believe you just shouldn't have any in the first place.
For most of my life I thought that success meant devoting 100% of yourself to the external: work, family, friends, and other responsibilities. It took multiple cases of burnout to realize that without my own health - both physical and mental - I would never truly be successful.
Having had a front-row seat to the collapse of my own self-care routine, I realized something: The quality of your life is directly proportional to the quality of your self-care. And while it takes years to recover from burnout, it only takes a few minutes a day to develop a life-saving self-care practice.
