Danielle Cobo: Welcome to the very first episode of the Unstoppable Grip Podcast with Danielle Cobo. I'm your host, Danielle Cobo, and I am beyond thrilled to be here today. As you might have noticed, we've undergone a transformation from the original podcast, dream Job with Danielle Cobo podcast to this new and exciting journey.
The Unstoppable Grit Podcast. Today we're diving into the why, the how, and the incredible power of embracing change and unleashing your inner grit. So let's get started. First, to my loyal listeners, you might be wondering why the rebrand? Well, just as life constantly evolves, so do our dreams, aspirations, and the messages we want to share.
The Dream Job Podcast had an incredible run, and I am deeply grateful for all the moments we shared. We had over 130 episodes, but I felt a calling while writing my upcoming book, unstoppable Grit. It's set to release in January, 2024, and as this week, I start my next chapter in life, entering my forties. I dive to explore the essence of what it truly takes to overcome life's trials and tribulations to achieve our goals, and that's how the Unstoppable Grit Podcast was born.
Now, let's talk about grit. I believe that grit is when passion meets purpose, dedication meets action, and when setbacks test us, grit is a refusal to give up and be in alignment with our vision. Grit is that unwavering determination, that unbreakable spirit, which propels us forward even when the going gets tough.
It's not just about achieving success, it's about enduring the challenges, learning from failures, and growing stronger with each obstacle. It's a mindset, a force that resides within each of us waiting to be harnessed. In 2020, I faced a series of events that tested my and changed the direction of my life forever.
At an early age, I knew I wanted to pursue a career in medical sales. My mom was a single mother, and when I was five years old, went back to school so she could provide a better life for us. I witnessed my mom's grit and resilience to go from barely making ends meet, living paycheck to paycheck, to climb the corporate ladder, and become a respected regional sales manager for a Fortune 100 pharmaceutical company.
She modeled determination and perseverance. In my early years, I dreamed of pursuing a career in medical sales. At 23 years old, I started my first medical sales job in the dental industry, and within five years earned four consecutive awards for President's Club, then moved on to another company and let a sales team to number one in the nation.
In 2020, I faced a series of life-changing events that left me feeling confused, discouraged, and uncertain about my future. 2020 started off with my husband. When he came back after a year of deployment in Iraq. We felt immense gratitude for his safe return. Especially considering that just a few weeks before coming home, his hit was targeted by the enemy with a barrage of over 13 missiles in one day.
However, transitioning back into the family life proved to be more challenging than we had anticipated Having just returned from a war zone, he was met with the site of our three-year-old twins throwing tantrums. Over something as trivial as not having enough jelly on their sandwiches. The contrast between the intensity of his experience abroad and the everyday struggles at home was stark and it required patience and adjustment from all of us as we navigated this next chapter.
Next, on March 8th, I tragically lost my mother to suicide. Adding to the sorrow the day just before I was set to fly out for her celebration of life. The global pandemic forced widespread lockdowns, abruptly shutting down the world and preventing anyone from traveling or gathering. And many of you know what that was like.
Admits these challenging times. The company I had dedicated seven years of my life to was acquired and that once familiar culture began to shift, unfortunately as the case with many organizations, certain individuals with negative attitudes were not addressed promptly sending a message that such behavior was acceptable.
This toxicity quickly spread like wildfire, tarnishing the work environment. Regrettably, the atmosphere deteriorated to a point where several of us who had been loyal to the company for a decade or even two decades, made the difficult decision to leave this week. Sequence of events propelled me onto a journey of self-discovery, prompting me to redefine my understanding of success.
I realized that success wasn't solely defined by job titles and awards, but by the positive impact I can make on the world, helping others bounce back from setbacks and develop the grit and resilience to thrive in all areas of their life, fueled by this realization, and in response. I embarked on a quest to amplify the stories of individuals who had triumphed over adversity.
This journey led me to create my original podcast Dream Job with Danielle Cobo, and the podcast became a platform to share these inspiring stories and my own, which eventually led me to write the book, unstoppable Grit, break Through the Seven Roadblocks, standing Between You and Achieving Your Goals, building on these experiences.
I am now launching a new podcast titled Unstoppable Grit with Danielle Cobo podcast, aiming to continue to showcase incredible stories of individuals who had overcome obstacles. Just like the captivating stories you'll encounter on The Unstoppable Grit podcast, life is brimming with challenges. My personal journey has taught me that triumph isn't about evading difficulties.
About skillfully navigating through them. I believe that grit encompasses more than just toughness. It's a blend of adaptability, a hunger for learning, and a willingness to invest effort even when the path ahead seems overwhelming. The trials and tribulations that we encounter play a vital role in shaping the individuals we become.
We stand at a crossroads. Either pointing fingers, casting blame, dwelling in complaints, or embracing change with an open heart and an open mind. Since 2020, I have successfully established a thriving business, risen as a saw after keynote speaker, launched a podcast ranked within the top 5% globally and authored a book driven by a singular goal to make a positive impact on the world.
This journey revolves around empowering others to cultivate the grit and resilience to thrive in their life. I've come to understand that the measure of success transcends beyond our job title or title as partner, parent, friend, or colleague, but by the lasting, impression and imprint we make on the world.
Through our choices, actions, and the spirit of unstoppable grit, we paint our stories and enrich the lives of those around us and those who follow in our footsteps.
