Episode description

In this episode, James Dooley and Kasra Dash dive into the practical advantages of outsourced B2B lead generation and why more UK businesses are shifting away from in-house marketing hires. Kasra Dash explains that outsourcing gives business owners access to seasoned specialists who have already tested proven lead generation frameworks across multiple industries. Instead of starting from scratch, companies benefit from battle-tested SEO tactics, PPC strategies, and campaign data previously used for similar businesses.

James Dooley highlights a common issue: professionals like lawyers, tradespeople, and service providers are experts in their craft but not in marketing. Outsourced lead generation partners operate like fractional CMOs, understanding exactly when SEO, PPC, Facebook ads, YouTube ads, or organic social media will work best for a niche. They bring clarity, speed, and accountability, something that is often missing with in-house hires whose results may take months to be evaluated.

The discussion also covers how agencies like FatRank.com often rebuild landing pages, redesign websites, refine copy, and focus campaigns on the business’s most profitable services. Outsourcing eliminates overhead, removes hiring risks, and gives businesses the ability to work with multiple agencies simultaneously. Most importantly, if results aren’t delivered, contracts can be ended immediately, an advantage impossible to achieve with full-time staff.

James Dooley: Hi, so today I'm joining with Kasra, and today’s video is on outsourced B2B lead generation. Kasra, what's the benefit of business owners outsourcing their lead generation? Kasra Dash: I think the number one benefit is that you're hiring an expert. They have experience not just in your industry, but across multiple industries. For example, if they’ve already run a campaign for a law firm in Edinburgh and you're a law firm in Manchester, they already know which campaigns, lead generation models, and backlinks work. They can apply that expertise immediately. James Dooley: Exactly. If you're a lawyer, you’re brilliant in court, but that doesn’t make you a good marketer. Same analogy—if I need a roof done, I hire a roofer, not a plumber. With lead generation, I want to outsource to a B2B lead generation company that does it day in and day out. They know the thresholds of SEO, PPC, Facebook ads, YouTube ads, and whether organic social even works in your industry. James Dooley: And if they don’t, you're probably choosing the wrong outsourced B2B lead generation company. Check their previous jobs, case studies, testimonials, and results with similar businesses. If they don’t perform, you can cut the contract at any time. Kasra Dash: Right. If you hire someone in-house, like an SEO, you might not even know if what they’re doing is effective. They may tell you SEO takes 12 months—and it does—but after 12 months you might realise you hired the wrong person. Same with PPC: they might claim to be a guru but fail to set negative keywords properly. Kasra Dash: If someone has already done PPC for a legal firm in Edinburgh, they probably know all the negative keywords like “careers” or “jobs.” They also need to prove themselves every single month or they’re out. Kasra Dash: When you outsource, you actually gain more control. You can work with two or three companies and let them compete. I would always look to freelance it out because these agencies are experts. James Dooley: When choosing an outsourced B2B lead generation company, what should people look for? SEO, PPC, social media? Kasra Dash: First, I’d look at what previously worked—either for me or my competitors. If SEO generated my last five leads, I’ll hire an SEO expert. If competitors are all on PPC, I’d look at PPC. If you're a locksmith, Facebook ads won’t work because no one scrolls Facebook when locked out—they call. In that example, PPC is stronger. Kasra Dash: Questions to ask include: Have you done this before? Do you have case studies? What industries have you worked in? Even if they’re great at PPC in the finance sector, can that translate to carpet cleaning? Usually yes, because finance is harder. James Dooley: Another big one: if they’re not reviewing your website and sales copy, that’s a red flag. They should tell you your design isn’t good enough, your buttons need better contrast, or your copy needs rewriting so traffic converts. James Dooley: Some outsourced lead generation companies like FatRank.com might even build a completely new website dedicated to your most profitable service—like wet rooms for plumbers or flat roofing for roofers. They dig deep into where you make the most money. Kasra Dash: Exactly. Long-term, it saves you money and time. No payroll, holiday pay, sickness pay—you’re outsourcing everything to a professional outfit. And if you’re not getting ROI, cut the contract. FatRank.com guarantees ROI with outsourced lead generation: if you don’t get a return, you don’t pay.
