Welcome to season two of Two Spiritual Mama. I'm Alicia. And I'm Shelby. And today we are discussing Radiance. In this episode, we will share what Radiance means to us, how your life can change for the better by simply being radiant and how to stay centered in that radiance when bringing it into everyday society.
So, Alicia, welcome back. Yay. We are vibrating with Radiance right now. . I'm so excited. Season two, we're so excited to bring it back. Um, I love you, soul Sister. And tell me what does Radiance mean to you? I. Love this topic. I love this word, and to me, radiance is shining my light. It is the alignment that I feel and the radiance, the eminence of my smile, my spirit, my light.
Out into the world. Your authenticity, girl. Yes! You, you are so grounded and so centered. And when I look at you and I, I feel your energy. It's like, please, can I stand next to her ? You know, please let me have a little, a little taste of that sunshine, you know? And, and, and that comes from, from the work and.
Putting yourself first, right? ? Yes. It's so true that I have really worked on myself so much to uncover and, um, remove the blocks that prevented me from shining my full light. And honestly, it is the number one compliment that I get. People are like, wow, you're shiny, you're radiant, you're so bright. And people do, I wanna stand next to that?
Like yeah, wanna be in that energy. And I love it as a gift to the world. I love sharing it. That's really what makes me so happy. Mm-hmm. . Yeah. Absolutely. And what about you dear sister? What does Radiance mean to. Wow, how lovely that you ask . Um, very similar to you. Um, I, I feel like I always, uh, think about myself as this multifaceted gem.
And if you think about what a prism looks like in the, in the window and how that spins ever so slowly and the, the rainbows, you know, glisten your whole bedroom or wherever you have that prism hanging and you're like, wow. Um, I believe we all have that prism inside of us, and so can we. Shine each one of those facets at all times.
No, but can we shine parts of those sections of those, whatever we're involved in, whatever we're devoted to in that moment? Right now, I am completely devoted to you, my sister, my spiritual mama, and this podcast, and I am shining through this, this recording to all of you who are listening to say, step into that.
It is yours to claim. And like Alicia said, oh, I'm getting chills. Um, you gotta, you gotta move the blocks and, and do a little bit of the work, some purging, some clearing, uh, whatever that means to you. Uh, and then that let that radiance come out, right? Mm-hmm. , um, what if you're not there yet, though? You know, what if.
Feeling pretty glm and the sun is not out to shine on your prism. This is where I wanna, just to start, you know, how do we begin to feel the radiance if it's not already glowing from you? As you may feel it from Alicia and I , we were not always this bright. You know, we definitely, we've had our low moments and there may be more to come, but, um, Let's talk about that.
But I think it, like when you ask that question, the first thing that pops into my mind is radical gratitude. Mm-hmm. and looking for the beauty. Where you can recognize it when you are having that GLM day where you're not feeling as shiny. Actually, a couple of days ago I was having one of those days where I just felt funky and I wasn't sure how I was gonna go out and do my job in the world and be smiley and connected and, and be in my center.
I just allowed it. I recognized that was a moment in time that I could be grateful that it's okay to be in the ebb and flow of Right. All of it. Right. Little low tide or something. Yeah. And I reached towards my tools, which is what we share in this podcast, for how I could feel more safe and secure and centered inside of myself so that.
Then those moments did shine through throughout the day. I had little moments of like, oh yeah, I feel more bright and shiny right now, and I'm sharing , my laughter or my smile, or whatever it. Absolutely. And I think that's where I wanna really be clear that you can't be radiant all the time. Like you have to have a little dimmer switch, , you know, that's, and, and the Mother Earth shows us that the sun does not shine 24 hours a day unless you're in like Alaska or places as suppose.
But for the most part we aren't. And so let's go with that. Uh, And so what is it? I just wanna go back to what does it feel like for me to be radiant? Um, and it could be anything from being aligned with my movements or my mind, or my words, you know, if I'm, if I'm teaching or coaching or doing a podcast per se.
Um, or if I'm quiet and I'm pulling cards and I'm in alignment with my spiritual path, my, my spiritual, uh, receiving and the messages from spirit. That's when I feel radiant because I am open. Um, so it's an authenticity, right? It's an authenticity, yes. And so again, like let's talk about how we can. Change the world.
Well, okay. Okay. Like, change your sphere. Let's that's a big task. Change your own little sphere. It might be your, your household. It might be, um, when you walk into work, it might be when you, when you step into your softball practice or whatever sports you play, whichever team you're joining, how can you be radiant in that moment with the tools you have and the people that are in front of.
So we're gonna, we're, we wrote this down, turning on a lamp in a dark room. How are we gonna brighten the room? Mm-hmm. . Alicia, what do you do? I smile everywhere all the time. , literally walking down the street, smiling at people, and people smile back. So yes, that's the confirmation that I get, that bringing my light and my joy and my gift.
Happiness and laughter and beauty. Um, it really does brighten up a room and people notice and people respond, and that's the cool thing. Like you said, it's what we're bringing to the world. It's you're bringing it to your family structure, you're bringing it to your work life or your community, whatever that looks like.
You are bringing your energetic f. And we are all responding to each other's energetic frequencies, right? And we've talked about it in season one, past episodes, clearing off the muck and how to cleanse your frequency if you've got other sticky stuff on you. And this is one of those ways you can actually radiate from within and change not just your own being, but affecting the people around you.
Brightening up the world. Through your radiance. So important. And what I wanna just reflect on is when we were masked, how, how wild was that to take away that smile and you had to be radiant in your eyes, in your arm movements, in your body posturing. You know, you had to not cross your arms and cross your legs.
You had to be open and be openhearted if you felt safe in that environment to do so. Um, So important, right? And, and here it is the first gymnastics analogy of the season, . We play some games, uh, when we do team orientation and, and I have my coaches stand up and we, we do some negative talk and we have negative body posturing and, and negative words.
And, and we. We ask the girls, how would you feel if we coached you like that? And they're like, oh my God, no, no, thank you. No thank you. And then we, we just remind them that we're conscious of our reactions when they land and they make tumble. And I look at 'em and I go, oh, that looked like fun. You know, it was a complete fail in one part.
But in the other part I'm like, wow, look at, look at that process. And, and they're looking at my reaction in my, in my radiance, is she mad at me or is. Okay with what just happened and, and just that smile alone gives them their answer. And it sounds like acceptance. Yes. And non-judgment that we can allow everyone to be where they're at.
Right. If you stumble and fall, if you are nailing it, what, either way we can have this acceptance and appreciation that we're doing our best or we're trying, or we're. We're in our, in our bodies doing right? This human thing that we're doing, which is, uh, part of this authenticity that we're talking about.
So I'm gonna, I'm about to crack up because this is coming to my mind, so I have to say it. I've heard of this thing called a resting bitch face, , and it exists and people are like, that's just, that's just how it is. And, and I, I always like, like, really? Is that, how does that make you feel? Good? And maybe, maybe for those souls, it's more of an empowerment thing of like, here are my boundaries and here's my warrior.
And Aho to, to you ladies. Yes. With the resting bitch face. Like, I'm not putting you down. Um, but I'm also curious about, uh, when, when, like when I talk to, to my teenage daughter and she says, mom, I'm always checking everybody out. This is what we do and we're 15 years old, we, you check everybody out. And I, and I say, are you judging them?
She goes, no, I'm just really curious about what they're. I wanna know what their shoes are and I said, so maybe that face you have on on right now, which I wouldn't call her as a resting bitch face at all, but like if you smiled a little bit more and then maybe even said, Hey, I love those shoes. Mm-hmm.
you know, there's the radiance coming out from your body, so you're acknowledging the positivity you're receiving from, wow, those shoes are so inspiring and you're giving back radi. Yeah. To that, to that girl or, or even the woman you see across the street, you know, love your dress. Like I shout it all the time.
You know what, how, how do I feel about what I'm seeing? I'm reflecting. It's great and I want that person to feel it, and it's a way for me. To share my radiance, cuz I feel so good about myself right now. I wanna tell you, your dress looks great on you and your fingernails, shaza, you know? Yeah. So yeah, there's, there's one way.
So many keywords pop into my mind as you're talking. Empowerment being one. Yes. Right? Yes. Being in your empowered, radiant self self gives other people permiss. And allows them to say, yeah, thanks for that compliment, right? Like, this is a dress that I chose that I love, that, you know, I feel good in. And you are sharing that empowerment with someone else.
Um, you said it in your analogy with the, with the kids at the gymnastics that you. Awareness of yourself and your responsiveness and how you respond to someone and their folly or their achievement, right? And, and just being aware of our reactions and our responses. We talk about that a lot in this podcast because we certainly do Mindfulness and awareness is our jam.
This is what we're here to do, , and we have chosen Shelby. To mindfully be radiant and that that's what feels the best in my body. And oh yeah, I love to express it through my physical appearance, through my standing tall and smiling and uh, allowing that light to come through me because I'm aware of it.
And what happens, Alicia? And we know the answers cuz we are such good friends here. When you stand inside of your own radiance, you attract. The other radiant people, , and then you're like, you know, we're big in our fingers right now. It's like, yes, you meet your people, you meet your tribe, and, and, and on the other hand, when you stay in the less refined energy of perhaps judgment and jealousy or just crump, you meet those.
And it's magnetic attraction, and we do. Gather together around our shared values, and this is our shared value, which is why we've been friends for 22 years. And we saw that in each other instantly, and we stayed connected through all these years because of that shared radiance. Like, I'll beam you and you'll beam me back, and it's so much fun.
So the question was how can we allow this to change our lives? Yeah. I mean, are you feeling stuck? If, if you're listening right now and you're feeling like, I would like a change and I, and I can't change my job and I can't change my house and I can't change my husband and I can't change my kids, or whatever.
Change your smile, change the way you walk into a room. Change, um, the way you choose to not attach to other people's judgements of you. Change how you choose not to judge others and just stay in your light, you know? Yeah. And, and, This does bring a little story and I'll share it. Uh, when I opened my business here, I knew that my business was my passion and it was a collection of my dreams over the, the decades of coaching gymnastics.
And when I decided to open it for myself, I made it. I made a, um, c contract with myself to just shine my own. And just not let other people's opinions or anything really enter my sphere and make decisions based on what felt good to me and my center. And now I'm on year 13 and we have the most. Highest number of enrollment we ever have had, and it is in such flow, Alicia, there's, there's no frictions, there's no like sticky points.
Everything is just fluid. And that's what I'm, I'm kind of offering to our listeners is when you do step into your own light and choose to be radiant, you will find a flow that is customized to you because it's your authentic. Light. It's your authentic flow. It's your, it's just you. And nobody can mess with that.
Nobody can challenge you and say, well, I don't. You say you don't have a right to think about that. This is mine and this is who I am today. Opinions don't matter. When you are in your authentic self, you really bring your own gifts and talents to the world and you're sharing them and no one can judge.
Yeah, your I balance. So, so how do you stay centered in your radiance when you might encounter someone judging you and, and you do get that negative reflection back at you? Well, I have, have had to practice this, so this does not happen overnight, but I've practiced stepping back and, and sometimes it could be physically or sometimes it's just energetically and being a witness to them and seeing their story as their story and not my.
And, and, and just being able to say, oh, I see. And a lot of times it's just a simple way of like, oh, it sounds like you're having a tough day, or just whatever they're coming at me with, you know? I just reflect it and I don't make it a part of my story. Mm-hmm. and reflect it with kindness. And reflect it with kindness.
Yeah. Yeah. And then I smile at them and I, you know, I, I kind of in visualize and visualize, that's a new word, . First new word of the season, , um, . I'm gonna keep using it. I in visualize my light, whether it's yellow at that time, or. Is it touching theirs? And I don't want it to infiltrate, but is it just gently touching theirs?
And if they can walk away with like a little bit of a shimmer, great. And if they're not ready, if there's if, because sometimes I'll encounter a block. I'm like, okay, so next time I see you, we'll be radiant again. And it's almost like they know that they, they can trust a lot of people. That's what's that, that's, I think they find comfort in us, Alicia, that they trust that we will be radiant and, and radiant at our whatever, where we are.
You know, it's not like we always have to be at 10, but we sit inside of this so. So what? I wouldn't even quantify it. I would say yeah, radiating at whatever level feels authentic to you in that moment. And I, you know, lead the moon circle, do a lot of astrology and. That day that I was feeling funky last week was definitely affected by the moon being void, of course.
And I noticed that I felt a little like unsure of my next step for myself, for my morning routine, for my workday. It was just a little bit. Out of sorts. And in that authentic moment of acknowledgement of where I was at, I was able to go out in the world without judgment of myself being wrong or bad that I wasn't as radiant as I should be.
Right. That anytime we should ourselves, quote unquote. Yeah. , uh, and that feeling did dissipate over the day. And actually, I even threw myself a little. Energetically try to move it through. I consciously was like, I'm gonna complain out loud to myself in this empty room to try to just clear some of this energy that I feel.
And then when I shared it with my son, when I picked him up after school, he responded. In the most supportive way. I was shocked and amazed that he went down the chores list and did extra chores to help me out because he just knew I wasn't feeling my best and his radiance and just his trust in me to respond to his radiance and the way that.
Do with our people and our lives reflect and respond and share and support. So like that's one of the positive ways that we can give and receive radiance. I just wanna, I wanna point out that you also told me you were stomping, and I really think that was important, that not only were you complaining out loud and having your tan, but you were stomping.
And that is a great tool, . It is physical movement. I mean, I even thought about just can I get myself out for a run right now? Because I knew that that would dissipate some energy. So physical movement, and we both know that as dancers and you as a gymnast, It's so helpful, crucial to embody, and that's what we continually talk about in this, in this podcast is how to embody that.
Yeah, so it's, it's a physical, and I, I'll bring in the astrology for it. The north node is in Taurus right now, and anything that is in Taurus and Venus is ruled by TAUs is a sensual sensing experience. So when you can sense your own radiance, Ooh, joy, moving through your body, through dance, through fingers or toes, in the grass, whatever you need.
Just looking in your toolbox, your spiritual toolbox for ways to amplify your internal truth and who you are, because that will always be well received by the universe, and the flow of energy will come in and out of your. And be amplified and, and, and receive support through standing in that authenticity of your radiance.
Well, what you said just now made me remember just the simplicity of standing in the sun. Mm-hmm. , you know, if, if you have that moment and you're like, wow, I really need some help, just go stand, lay, sit, arms up if you can, and receive the radiance of the. And if you don't have that, cuz it's cloudy or it's night light, a candle.
And, and let your, let the light bask over your face. And if you can look in a mirror while you're doing that and, and see the radiance of the elements. Giving you what maybe you can't give yourself. This is really good . Um, do that. I love that you brought that in. Yes. Yeah. Yeah. Um, I think we covered it, but I just wanted to go back cuz I, I do find it funny sometimes.
When, when you, when you choose this path and you choose to walk in and I've heard comments of like, is she always like this or like, you're so happy . It's funny cuz I'm like, oh, and I love it when my friend's like, yeah, yeah, she's always like this and, you know, and so, um, what do you do in that sense? Cause I, I answered you, but what do you do when you encounter a little bit of resistance to.
Resistance to radius. It's so foreign to us, but it does happen a lot actually. You go out in the world and people are judging how happy you are or judging how good your life is and you might just be radiantly being in your experience and someone wants to cut you down or, um, it does happen to me and my response.
That inner trust and inner knowing. I just, I, I support that faith in myself and my faith and spirit, that I am a conduit. We are all that hollow bone, the conduit for the divine source, and I see the divine source in them, and I don't judge in response. Mm-hmm. . Choose to have compassion and see them, like you said earlier, they might be having a bad day.
They might have just had someone in their life pass away that they are sad or you know, when people reflect back to us in a way that is difficult and challenging, meeting that with an open heart. Yeah, and not closing my heart and not blocking and protect. As a response if I need to remove myself from the, the, the vicinity of that person because it is toxic and it doesn't feel good to, and it's hard to maintain my own alignment in the presence of that person.
Like you said, taking a step back, walking away. Um, sometimes it happens in our. That, especially, you know, parents, grandparents, whatever, a different generation maybe where you feel judged or an imprint on you that you've cleared is not yours. And to those moments and those very close relationships, I would suggest.
Going to the bathroom and just having a minute to yourself, excusing yourself from the presence of that person to realign with your inner truth and knowing. So that's one of the tips that I give regularly. People are like, what? That's so simple. Yeah, just take a bathroom break. Go sit down, align yourself ground through the earth, and, and don't take it personally because you know it really doesn't have anything to do with you.
Our radiance should give the el, not should. Our radiance allows other people to see their own cuz we're shining a light on their shadow or on their achievements, and they can either feel confident in themselves and shine their light to match or to, uh, radiate back and even shine more light in return because they're in their alignment.
That might bring up some hard stuff for them, that they don't feel worthy, that they don't have that radiance themselves, and that's just showing that they have that work to do for themselves. Mm-hmm. And I'm not gonna judge that. I'm just gonna see them for where they're at in their process, cuz I've been there too.
Mm-hmm. and allow it. Right. Allow them to be that and then take care of. Absolutely. You nailed it. I think that what we, what we were, I brought up earlier about the multifaceted gem. Like remembering too, if you're not ready to unpack everything and you're not ready to shine this radiance on all parts of your, your past life work, your current life, work, whatever it is that is.
You can be radiant on the soccer field or at pottery class or in bed with your lover or in the car ride to school with your children. You're like, today, this is where I'm gonna be my most radiant self. And, and as you step into that light, it becomes contagious. You, you recognize the joy, the feedback from that, and this is where I'm like gonna cry cuz it really, like Alicia and I have done this.
Everybody, we've, we've walked this path and we've proven to ourselves that standing in the light is so much more fun. It's so much more rewarding. It's, it, it brings so much more celebration than anything. And what better life to live than a life of celebration? Yes. So this is where I feel like I'm, we're we're just doing this first episode to say let's start the season out in light.
In radiance with, with this and, and whether it's that sliver, you know, like when you get that your curtains are kind of open and you get that one crack in the morning of light. Like, let's start with that and, and you don't have to bust the whole curtain open. I mean, whew. It's a little shocking sometimes.
But, but eventually that will be where you're at. And, and Cheers. Cheers to that. Yeah. Cheers to you. Lovely lady . Cheers to you and the. The new season. The new season. We are so unbelievably excited, everybody. So I, I think you can pick up on that , um, and more to come. We've got some amazing, amazing episodes lined up.
Um, Some with faith with, uh, we're gonna talk more about boundaries. I know this episode kind of tapped into a little bit, but we're gonna talk about some boundaries, some conscious unwinding, uh, what it means to do, to really do the work, to do the bootcamp. Oof, gotta get messy sometimes. Um, and that's right.
Just having that inner security. So, uh, we're pumped. So stay tuned. We stay tuned. We just love having this community. We, we host a Moon Circle community and we have soul coaching coming up, uh, which is always available through my website. And we'll put notes, uh, under the episode so that you can find all of our resources and we hope to get to chat with you.
Yes. All right. Thank you so much. What a lovely day. Blessings.
