Who Was books about two great figures from history. Now they're here to show off their knowledge in the hopes of winning fantastic prizes. They will see us waving from such great Heights today when we discussed Amelia Earhart and Michael Jordan's. But before we get to know about them, let's get to know our contestants. First. Up we have Max Max please introduce yourself. Hi. I'm Max. I am

twelve and I like doing ski jumping. It's this really interesting type of jumping where you go off ramp and it's really fun, exciting and keeping on our such Great Heights theme because I bet you catch a lot of air off those rants. Thank you, Max. Oh yeah. And up next we have Amelia. Amelia please introduce yourself. Hi. My name's Amelia. I'm eleven years old. I'm from New Jersey and I have not one, not to but three younger brothers. Oh my gosh, Amelia, I can't believe it's

quiet enough to record in your house today. That's so, that's so unusual. How are you doing with all of those brothers. We have our moments where it's not as good as it is right now. Well, thank you so much both for being with us, and thank you to Eric, our musician, for providing that lovely Meet the Contestants music, as well as all the music we're gonna here on the show today. So that's who is Now, let's find out who was Amelia Earhart with four fast facts us.

She was the first woman to fly across the Atlantic, she set records for flying speed, and the first person to fly solo from the US to Hawaii, and she started her own airline. Most people remember her for the last event in her life, when Amelia Earhart mysteriously disappeared while completing a trip around the world. But we want to focus on everything that happened before that. Although I think I might know where Amelia is. Amelia, are you

Amelia Earhart? Yeah, that's up. Well, there goes that theory. I guess it's still a history's mystery unsolved this very day. You know, Amelia was incredibly famous in her day. If she were around now, we're pretty sure she'd be sending tweets on Twitter like all the other major celebrities. Or she'd be coming up with dances on tik tak. You mean TikTok? Why do I look like a clock? Okay, speaking of time, it's time we get to our first

game hashtag history. His hashtag history hashtag hashtag In this game, B will read you a hashtag Amelia Earhart would have used during her life if there was social media, and you will tell us what it's about, what it's referring to. Take it away. Be okay, Max, This first question is for you. Our first hashtag is hashtag friendship goals. I think that is when she was talked to Netta. I think that's what her name was, her friend when she

first learned about flying. It's a very good guest, but unfortunately it's not what we're looking for with this one. The friendship was actually the airplane Amelia took on that first flight across the Atlantic. Making it to the other side was definitely hashtag friendship goals. But nice try. Next question is for Amelia. Our next hashtag is hashtag problems. Okay, so was the name of the group that Amelia had formed, and the name was flopping from like eighty three to

seven and they finally settled on ninety nine. That's right. The ninety nine was the group of over two hundred female pilots that Amelia Heart became the president of. This organization helped female pilots find employment and community with other female pilots. That was great. Next question is for Max. This hashtag is hashtag all the single Ladies. I think that's when she turned down so many marriages from many

different guys. That's right. Amelia turned down several marriage proposals to focus on her career, which was not the thing that women were expected to do at the time. She later married her manager, George Putnam, but they both agreed that Amelia would put her career first. Take that, George, great answer, Max. Next question is for Amilia Amelia. the name of her plane or something. Oh sorry, That hashtag refers to Amelia's first flying teacher, Netta Snook, another pioneering female a Theator. It's who Max was talking about earlier. Atlantic Ocean. Your don juting, I will there are was all alone, fifteen hours in the air with nothing below me but the Brianity. Fifteen hours. It's a long flight. You must have watched a lot on movies on that flight. What movies on an aerial plane? You twenty one century people are goofy when I have fel across the Atlantic. I couldn't get distracted even for a moment, fifteen hours of intense focus. Hey, Amelia, can you tell this mug what would happen if I flew too high? Um? You

would die? Yes, I love it. I love a lady who's short and succinct and to the point my wings would ice up and I would die. And Max, can you tell this tabioca Sam? What would happen if I flew too low? Would your instruments not work? Ding? Ding ding? That's right, my instruments wouldn't work. I couldn't stop for a working moment, and those fifteen hours went by a real slow. But you did have snacks, right, horse feathers. All I had was chicken soup for a sipping. But

chickens can't fly. Wouldn't have help more if you had some duck souper, maybe alvatross soup of flying bird soup. Oh, dreepers, creepers would a maroon? Maybe our contestants have some thoughts on what you could do to keep from falling asleep on that flight, Amelia, what do you do on long trips to keep from getting bored or any time that you kind of have to stop yourself and falling asleep? Do you have a trick for that? Listen to music

and like mouth the words. I mean that that sounds good, Amelia Earhart, this time, Eric, could you have listened to music while you're on the plane? Oh my goodness. No, you can't hear anything over the plane's engines, which is sometimes actually why I liked it. I couldn't hear my own thoughts. I couldn't hear my own sadness. I just had to be one with the plane. I'm sorry, I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I was going off in a different direction and it wasn't north by northwest or south by southeast or south by south north directions. Those are all real directions. Yes, but sometimes on who was the contributions of an individual are so great we want to celebrate them asap. We don't want

to wait. And if there's one person in recent sports history who meets that mark, it's Michael Jordan's perfect basketball sound. And now it's time for Michael Jordan's for fast facts past. Michael Jordan was captain of the legendary Chicago Bulls basketball team. He was a winner of the Presidential Medal of Freedom. He earned six NBA Championship rings, more than fit on one hand, and he was a gold medalist pass. But honestly,

he's such an accomplished athlete. It's just a small sample of his achievements that we've mentioned, more than you can fit into four fast facts box out, double dribble all you and I think that's basketball talk. For It's time for our next game. Let's get ready for a slam dunk free throw? Or about I love using sports words. Okay, here's how the game is going to work. B will make a statement about Michael Jordan's and this statement will

either be completely true, half true, or totally false. If you think that the statement is completely true, you will say that the statement is a slam dunk. And if you think the statement is half true, you will say that it is a free throw. And finally, if you think that the statement is completely false, you will guess that the statement is a foul. What for each correct response, you will learn two points, just like a shot in basketball. Okay, Max,

here is the first statement. Michael Jordan one signed a deal with Nike to release shoes and other products centered around him called Air Jordan's. Is it a slam dunk free throw or a fout slam dunk? Shar That's right, It's a slam dunk. It's true. My Jordan's started the trend of basketball players signing deals with sneaper brands when he signed a contract with Nike back in This was an especially big deal because he hadn't even played a single game in the NBA yet. I wish someone would

give me a shoe deal. I've never played any games ever. Alright, Amelia, here is your statement. After retiring from the NBA, Michael Jordan also ran a bicycling business called Michael's Bichael's. That's right, it's a foul. Michael never ran a bicycle shop called Michael's Bikels, But I'm not gonna lie. That would have been a really cool name for a bicycle company. He's still around. I hope he does it. Oh yeah, alright, Max,

back to you. Here's a statement. At one point, Michael left the game of basketball to start a new athletic career and play football, only to go back to basketball. That is free throw. He did leave basketball for a little bit, but not football. That's right. That's really right, they answer his free throw. It's only half true. Well, Michael did leave the game of basketball. He left to play aceball, not football. He left in play a little bit of baseball, got tired of baseball and returned to

the Chicago Bowls in. It was an eventful couple of years for him. A baseball The thinking man's football. Amelia, here is your next statement. In the nineties, Michael made a movie that featured him playing basketball with Bugs money called Space Jam Slam Dunk. That's right, that answer is

a slam dunk. Not only did Space Jam the movie make over two hundred and thirty million dollars at the box office, but Michael Jordan actually had a basketball court built next to the studio so he could continue to practice playing basketball when he wasn't filming. And I think he and Bugs are still friends to this very day. That's sweet. Ah. Yes, the sound of Air Jordan's squeaking on a basketball court means the game is over. Let's

My first one is when she had to sell her plane, My second one is when she bought a car, and my third one is when she got her new plane. Awesome. Does all sound good to me? This is very funny, But I thought that when you said pivot you meant it physically, like when would he actually have to pivot like in a game so real, like in the Olympics. He probably had to pivot in a game to like

spin around? Did she used to fall? But no, when he had twins, when his first kids were girls, and then when his first kids were boys, when he changed from basketball to baseball, and also when he left baseball and joined the Bobcats as a coach ish instead of an actual player. So keeping it in mind now your new knowledge about what we mean by pivots, do you have any pivots for Amelia Earhart? When Amelia Earhart how she stopped being a nurse and she became a pilot. Yes,

that's my one. Okay, So looking at my scores here, Amelia, I'm going to give you a five points for that, and Max you have a four points for that. So from that round, Amelia five, Max four. Producer Jane, before we head into our final game, have you had time to tally those and add those to the regular scores to get our super duper new scores? I sure did, Elliott, And let me tell you something. It It was like the basketball score of the game I'd play basketball in.

So, Elliott, I get the connection between Michael Jordan and Amelia Earhart is like in flying and pivoting and who knows, maybe even some fast breaks or half court presses or free throws. You really, you really seem to be stretching the metaphor there be Oh yes, most definitely, um, but do they

have anything else in common? I'm so glad that you asked, because that's the topic of our next game, which is called Tycoon A Tycoon. Amelia Earhart and Michael Jordan aren't just memorable because of their big talents and bold accomplishments. They were both able to solidify themselves in the public mind by endorsing products and extending their celebrity to other areas. So for this game, we're going to read taglines for made up products. You'll tell us if they would have

their lives. Amelia will start with you, what's something that really jumped out of you when you're reading these books? Um that Amelia Earhart with Sam Chapman she rejected his marriage proposal not just one time, but two times and got married to someone else. And what and what do you take from that? Why did that stick out to you? Do you think because she was so determined that it was only her career that she wasn't going to have kids,

be you stay at home mom. It was her career that was coming first, and she wasn't going to let some man take that away from her. Yeah, some Chapman take that away from her, it said a put Nam. She allowed to help her in her career as as an equal partner. That's what about you. I definitely did not know that Michael Jordan's was in a commercial with

bug Bunny. You really didn't know that. Well. I knew he was in a movie, Bugs Bunny, but I didn't know that he was in a commercial with Bugs Bunny where Bugs Bunny were Harry Jordan's that's right before the movie came the commercial and people saw them together and they were like, this is a star couple, Michael Jordan's and Bugs Bunny. We've got to capture this magic in a bottle again. They were the Ginger Rogers and Fred Astaire of their day. I'm sure all our listeners out

there will understand their reference. M Well, just like they say about Ginger Rogers, Bugs Bunny had to do everything Michael Jordan did, but backwards and as a bunny and in heals. Oh, those are great things to remember about both of them. Something inspiring about Miliahart and frankly, it's pretty inspiring that Michael Jordan got to work with the cartoon rabbit twice.
