Welcome back everybody to another episode of The Weekly Planet where we talk movies and comics and TV shows. My name is James also known as Mr. Sunday. With me as always, it's a very hyped, it's a very excited Nick Mason. Hello!
It's Comic Con Mason. It's a big week for just stuff, isn't it? No, you say, woo. I'm not doing that. Oh, wow, look at Mr. Matur over here. He's too good for the content which made him. It's right. Look at this. I am. Just wait for my Deadpool and Wolverine's future. But I'm just going to say it's a big week for Marvel. It's also a week for DC. It's a week for DC. There's got some stuff coming up. That's right. It's a week for image. Yeah. Also, I'm not above that. I just forgot that I say woo.
Oh, did we do? Yeah, okay. It's been a long time in between. Yeah, they say, sees Marvel didn't. They have, they have happened, but they've been a smaller affair. Yeah. Yes. Now it's huge. It was a drone show. It was a drone that was drones. And then this is a galactus and whatever. Marvel brought out the drone show and DC were like, look at this t-shirt. Yeah. At least t-shirts we've got. That's a pretty good to. They want that. Yeah.
So yeah, if you do want to skip to anything in particular, including our Deadpool and Wolverine review, you can. But of course, there's some other stuff we want to talk about. We got news and related to image, including the boys and invincible season four and then some boys spin off stuff, Mason. That's right.
But trailers for Transformers one. Yes. And Rebel Moon directors cut. Yeah. Good. Good stuff. There's a new DC logo for the studio. We've got a creature's command. Creature, commando trailer. We've got a Joker to trailer. Creatures, commando.
Should be like attorneys general. Creatures, commando. And there's a bunch of MCU stuff. We'll talk brief that I guess about the Deadpool and Wolverine panel. I just want to talk about how they just brought out all the camiose. They did. Didn't they? What are they?
But I can't put it in a thumbnail, Mason. That's right. It's ridiculous. We got a prison. Yeah. And then we're going to talk about Captain America Brave New World Thunderbolts because there was some stuff from that fantastic for there. Some footage that late. Captain's courageous. What's that? Captain's courageous as mandolin. That's exactly what it is. Thank you. Thank you. I'm going to talk about, of course, the next Avengers film and a big, a big news. That's such a big news.
With the returning of Robert Danny Jr. in a role that you might not think Mason. You've probably heard some things. But it's he's actually not returning as I'm an Iron Man. I want you to think about that. Put a pin in it and we'll come back. I'll think about it. Okay. But then we'll come back to it. Okay. All right. Let's start with this. Again, time goes below. Thank you. Collings who edits this. Thank you. Collings. Okay. So first of all, we got a poster for season three of invincible.
Oh, yeah. He's got the he's got the blue suit. The all the all blue suit. Yes. That's right. Robert Kirkman talked about how like, and if you've read the comics, which I have not to break, it's a very dark era of the character. Like if you've if he's been through some stuff and if you've been watching it, rough stuff, yeah, there's even crooker and rougher stuff. I don't want to look forward to. So the season three poster. I'm sorry, it's going to come out. They reckon the first half of 2025.
Okay. I hope they don't split it up. They probably will. Like the last season. They will because they can. They will because they can. Now you have to watch more Amazon based ads. Oh, yeah. They added ads to Amazon Prime. You have to pay more to get rid of that or you just come. It's an extra 250. $250. That's right. I mean it. An ad. I mean it. Or it's an ad or a minute. They present the first ad and they go, you want to get rid of this? It's either $250 an ad or 250. It was a minute.
And you're like, I don't know which to choose. I don't know. I don't know. I don't have any. Yeah. It's a time. And it's like, if you don't click one of these, you'll get ads forever. And you're like, I don't know. I don't know how many ads there could have been. But jokes on you. They charge you both. Oh great. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. And then it's the illusion of choice. And that's what we like. Yeah.
We do that. Don't we? Yeah. Because we say to people they don't have to listen, but they have to listen. You've got a prison. If you know, that's right. You've got a prison. And then of course we got used that Gen V season to is coming in 2025, which I think we knew because of course the boy season five is coming the year after. And we're also getting another spin off. Oh, before we talk about that, chance Crawford's the DP is joining the cast.
And then chase Crawford. Chance Crawford is a different guy that you've made up. No, I've made up anybody. All the things that I say are real. He's a parallel universe chase Crawford is addicted to gambling. Wow. I don't know if the real chase Crawford's addicted to gambling. They could both be addicted to gambling. But one guy's going to that one guy's got an extra letter and he's not. But otherwise they're the same guy. That's right.
Just quickly before we talk about that, you spin off. Jensen, Ackles will return for the boy season five, which is not a surprise because if you saw the end of boy season four, he's in it. Yeah. Yeah. Or they took some footage of him from a previous season and put him in. Yeah. Yeah. With a complicated system of mirrors to make it look like he's in a in a booth. Now they do that. Now I also maybe read a rumor that Jared Paddlecki also laid a supernatural.
Yes. I don't think we know what capacity. Yes. Now some people have said based entirely, I think on vibes and haircut. He's going to be an adult version of Ryan. Oh, yeah. Because otherwise it's so that mean they're going to jump forward in time or in time. Or maybe he's got maybe he can age himself up somehow. Yeah. Maybe there's some time staff going on. There's a booth. Two time periods. Oh, yeah. There's a booth. Yeah. I don't hate that idea. I don't know.
Just based on vibes and haircuts. Yeah. Because they've both got the curtain look. They do. I don't know. Jared Paddlecki's rocking now. Probably a walk in Texas Ranger haircut. Well, he was. That's how they they canceled it. Yeah. Much to everybody should grin.
Everybody should grin. If you watch the single. Depending on your value of sugar in I guess. Okay. No, I've not watched a single second of that. Why would I? I don't know. I don't know. Just maybe it's something that you'd watch it. Maybe I'm a Jared paddle like her. Are you? No. Why? You don't like him. Also, that sounds weird. Now that'll set it out loud.
You're allowed to say things out loud. This is a podcast. Mason. That's what's if required. Anyways, you were right. There is a the boys and others say I'm a proud paddle like you're a paddle like. I can say that you are. I'm not though. Yeah. I'm not either. No, I like sounds weird. I like. So you're a proud paddle like I liked. Supernatural. A lot for some of it. Okay. And then I dropped off. But I still like it. Okay.
I'm bought rising. I would not. Interest. Would you say that? I wouldn't say that either. Would you say about me? Well, you did say you really do enjoy his work on supernatural. I don't want it. I don't want to do this. All right. We're just we're just we're just riffin. We're testing stuff out. Yeah. Some of it. Some of it. Some of it's not right. Mason bought rising. Yes. You know about the concept. This is a prequel to the boys. And it's going to feature.
Soldier boy and I a cashier's character who's in the front slash Liberty Liberty. I'm not. Okay. Yeah. Yeah. It's going to be said in 1950s New York and Crypti says it's a twisted murder mystery about the orange is a vote in the 50. 50s the early.
20. Misty. Yeah. That's right. The early exploits of soldier boy and the diabolical maneuvers of a super known to fans as stormfront who was then going by the name of Clara. What we cannot wait to blow your minds and trouble your souls with the Salacious Grizzly saga drenched in blood and compound V. Okay.
What do you think about that? Sounds fun and gross. Okay. Great. I'm thinking agent Carter because I was set in the 50s. That's true. I could all look like that. Yeah. We'll look at seepia time. Different. How do you feel about this two characters who we know die much later? Good. Yeah. I mean, no matter what, you know, bad stuff stormfront gets up to will be like, yeah, she got beaten a death. Yeah.
Although she got beaten nearly to death and then a boy lays it her limbs off. Yeah. And then she choked to death and her own tongue. Yeah, or something like that. Yeah. You know, hospital bird. Yeah. So that's all cool. She got Anakin Skywalker basically. Yeah. But she didn't come back in the way that he did. No, that's true. Yeah. He had a pretty pretty good run after he got. It's right.
It's right. It's all right. So on front less so. Yeah. Not great for her. Okay. But I mean, they are, you know, they are certainly colorful characters. You know, how do you feel about this universe going forever considering the season five will be the main line?
I think it's interesting is that for a show that makes fun of like endless spin-offs and and extended universes. They're doing that now. How do you do that for like a show in the 50s? I mean, you don't right? You go in a different direction. Yeah. You can't just be like, can you believe corporations and whatever? I think they'll certainly be an advertisement for cigarettes. Like, you know, every episode will be like, I'm loving cigarette. Vort brand cigarettes.
Each as many cigarettes as you can. That's your doctor will make you. I don't know. Got a prescription for sport brand cigarettes. You need a prescription for cigarettes in the 50s. It's an alternate 50s. Okay. I hate that. I like being able to go to the store and buy my cigarettes. It's amazing. It is many as I can, which is a lot. We got a trailer, of course, then anyway, more boy stuff. Let's go.
Absolutely. Just do it until you can't. Yeah. So this is probably at least eight more years of boy. The boy stuff. Eight more do you think? Yeah. We'll be 50. Nearly. Mason. Transformers one got a brand new trailer. Look, and I did watch it. But again, this isn't the movie for us. Well, I don't know if it is Mason because it's got a great response. When things get a great response, you know what that means?
We have to talk about them. That's right. Matt Najulia of next best picture said, I almost cannot believe I'm saying this. But Transformers one is by far and away the best Transformers film to date. Russ Millheim of the direct said the animation was beautiful and immensely satisfying to watch. Now is this based on the trailer of they has seen the movie?
Art direction and world building overall were fantastic. I can't believe I was saying this but the check clear to this is the best movie of our Mason. Don't be one of those. Don't be one of those guys. Men. What if I was one of those guys that I carried it off with style and pen-ash? I mean, if you could pull it off, if you could pull it off as you would obviously. Thank you. But don't be like that.
It's the most interesting story. I'm such a stylish hater. It's Russ is the most interesting Transformers project. Stephen Wine Throb. I can never know. I know. He's in Collider. He's frosty from Collider. It's pronounced vain Throb. He's one of the best Transformers movies. No debate. For some it'll be their favorite. I understand why. Some movies come out and get universal prize. You're like, I liked it but I didn't love it.
I agree. This isn't the Transformers movie. That being said, like my son who loves Transformers. This is the only trailer that he wants to watch. It's the only thing he wants to watch. That's right. In the world. He doesn't want to watch school. Why would you want to watch school? He doesn't want to watch hanging out with his friends. I'm being a weird school. It sucks. I'm being his friends. I'm terrible. I always make me play downball Mason. I know. I've seen that. I'm winning though.
You're taking away from valuable content producing time. It's true. I suspect this will be for me very similar to a Super Mario Brothers. Yes, it's got all the stuff that is required for a Transformers movie. Steve Buschimi's Starscream. What do you think of that? That's pretty good. There you go. I don't know. I'm a little bit more optimistic. I'm not going to say it's incredible. Actually with my son we were watching Steve Buschimi.
We saw it with up to a movie. We're watching Bumblebee. Just the start of Bumblebee. Just make that. They'd not go to it. I know. It made it worse. Too expensive. If it's a little bit good and the kids like it, Transformers is really, really good and have been for a long time. Every three or four years they do a new kid show and they reboot in a different way. They're like rescue bots and there's that Netflix one that everybody hates.
They do that every few years and the toys are constantly updating. It's always happening. The comics are always interesting. It's interesting then there was that era where it was just. We're just died for like 90s. Yeah. Until like the movie started in 2007. Yeah. I don't disagree. But I imagine that was probably something along the lines of the people who watched Transformers as a kid were like suddenly in executive positions.
Yeah. More friends with Michael Bay. I love to be friends with Michael Bay. We'd hang out and wear Hawaiian shirts. Is he doing recently? Is that some Michael Bay? Michael Bay News? He didn't do it. No, I saw some Michael Bay News recently. I was doing the Scubidi Toilet movie. That cannot be. I saw that what they were doing that. Is he doing it? Apparently. Why? What? I don't know. I don't know. I don't know. I don't know. I thought he was old.
Well, he's well in the Scubidi Toilet demographic then. Okay. Let me check this out. This is Variety. Unless this is a trick. Variety.com. Scubidi Toilet Film and TV franchise in the work from Michael Bay and Adam Goodwin. No. What? Is he looking for his new Transformers? He's happening here. What's happening here? He's Scubidi Toilet. But does this say he's directing it? Developed for TV and film by director Michael Bay. It doesn't say he's directing it now.
Okay. Okay. We're absolutely in talks right now both on the television side and the earliest conversations right now. And the film side Goodman said, but it's not be all end all for us. Sure. Okay. By the time they get around to this, this is over, right? I don't know, man. I mean like... I mean, five nights at Freddy's worked and that took like 10 years. Yeah. That's right. Yeah. Okay. At the risk of sounding 100 years old.
Okay. What the fuck is this? Like it's a guy with a long neck who comes out of a toilet? I was under the impression that it was like it's like some asset from a half-life game, right? Okay. Because it looks like a half-life guy. It looks like the J-man from Half-life. Yeah. You know that game series from the late 90s, early 2000s. Probably mid 90s, I don't know. It's a machinima web series. Okay. Okay. So there you go. All right. All right. Great. Let me know what I can't look into this.
You can. Oh, what am I doing? What am I doing? What am I doing? I'm going to become a new passion, James. I hope it will. Yeah. Yeah. You'll have a t-shirt, it'll say, Skibbity Boy, honest. I'm a Skibbity Boy. I'm a Skibbity Boy. I'm a Skibbity Boy. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Just letting the dog out. Okay. I won't go on. Let everybody know who let the dog out. It was James. James, James, James, James. He's let the dog out. That cold, the Melbourne winter. It's weird to suck. Right?
I'm gonna get in the morning. I mean, if I had a real job, I'd have to go and do something in the morning. Sure. Yeah. I mean, I go to the gym, but that's like self-inflicted. That's right. That's right. You should get a paper out. I should get a paper out. I think I have to live a one paper and it's to my parents. That's right. Okay. Mason. Yes. Finally, next week on August 2nd, we've got the release of Rebel Moon Director's Cup, which they're calling Zack Snyder's True Vision.
So the thing that you watched, we both watched it. We're idiots. Boy, if you're a real, we're here. We're here. It was going to be that you didn't watch those two movies. And you treat, you were just guessing. You just skimmed the Wikipedia page. And I just sat through four and a bit of hours of this garbage. And now there's six more hours of this garbage. Now listen, I know we said we weren't going to cover it next week because the movie trap is coming out.
Nice. But what if we watched six hours of... I'm not going to do that. I can't do it. No, I'm not going to do it. But what if you watched it, then told me... I think I'll do that. No, I don't think so. No. But how busy are you? I mean, the trailer came out and so there's... There's more blood. There's more blood. There's more princess. There's more stabs. There's some sexy stuff. To better know how you define sexy, I guess. Yes, sure. And there's a big man. A big glowing man.
That's new to the movie, I think. It looks... A lot of it looks very different. But I'm with you. Yeah. I can't with this. I'm sorry. Now, people have said there was a lot of discussion on the internet. And people were like, why has he done this? Why didn't he just release the original version into the first place? And people have said, well, Netflix told him... He has to release a P.J. related version, rated version. So they can sell toys and what have you. What toys?
I know there are toys, but there are like... Like seven toys? Yeah, yeah, yeah. But then I would say... Like if this would not a cynical move. Yeah. Yeah, there are some action figures, but they're like hot toys. They're saying quite expensive. Yeah. Some of them are just statues. This one's $139. Yeah. I looked it up every time when somebody said, oh, I've got to sell the action figures. But he's the thing, James. He's buying this. He's the thing.
From a non-synical perspective, if that were true, if Netflix said you have to release a P.J. version in addition to the, they are rated rude version. And they would release them at the same time. And you would get a choice to just flick, but select the one you want. If you want to watch it with your kids, you can watch the kid-friendly version. But that's a thing. They didn't do that. Imagine sitting down with your kids.
Because the idea being is, because then all the Snyder fans would only watch the rude version. It's true. And that's what we would watch. That's what we would watch. That's what we would watch. So the idea is you get all the views from the first version and then you wait. Yeah. And then you release it again. So it's not... There's no... I mean, also, it's clearly just like capitalizing on the Snyder card. Yeah, it's not a card that you don't think is going on.
He's known as a guy who doesn't get his vision and then he's going to. What do you need to hear to watch this? What would be the incentive? It would have to say this is practically a different movie. You know what? But it's good. Yeah. Like not just it's different. It's different, but it's worse somehow. Or the same. Or the same. I'm not interested. If they were like, this is somehow completely changed the narrative. And it's changed the entire vibe of the movie.
If you look at this, it's a lot of... And it isn't dreadfully dull now. Yeah. Then maybe I would. But there's no way that could happen. You'd have to change all... You'd have to change all the character arcs and how they all interact with each other. They sit down in the room and they say where they're from. They'd have to get rid of that. I'm from a planet where I thought the Star Wars bad guys were good, but then they showed up and they were bad. That's my story. It's right.
Let's hear that nine times. Yeah, I have a similar story. It's that. But my world had a different tinted sky. Yeah. And it probably had a griffin or whatever. Yeah, that's right. I got robot hands. Does that mean anything to you? Yeah. I mean, you know. It sounds like the story of a great warrior. It is. Here we go. No, I mean, it cannot possibly be because every scene in that movie was dreadfully dull.
And so, like, if you had versions of that where every where like all the story lines coalesced in a way that was really interesting and every scene was like vibrant and gripping. And they kissed. Then you would have released that. You wouldn't have released the boring versions. Wow. Yeah. I mean, it doesn't exist. A good version of these movies doesn't exist. Again, I want to stress also like, I want a version of like a new franchise that's a new star wars that, you know, that's like a. Yeah.
Like something you could expand on like an incredibly no detailed and rich universe. Something like Chronicles of Riddick, you know, but good. It was a good. Yeah, yeah, yeah. But good. I don't know those movies. Yeah, yeah. But I mean, yeah. But this is not it. When we talked about the first episode, first movie, like our disappointment that it wasn't better was very genuine. I would have loved it for it to have been good, but it wasn't. Yeah. I agree. What do you do? What do you do?
What do you tell? You just wait for us to give it a toilet. Again, I know like a million people watch this all the time or whatever. But as anybody, like a real person in the world, yes, ever mentioned this to you. I never. Exactly. And that's something. That's right. I don't know what. That's right. All you folks out there who loved it, you fake people. DC, of course, we're talking some more comic, more comic, comic, comic stuff. That's right.
And DC, they came out and one of the big reveals was the new DC Studios logo. That's right. James Gunn couldn't be there because he's busy filming Superman and maybe also peacemakers, some of the peacemakers at the same time. And also, critical mounds, which we want to talk about. But the new logo. So the old logo. Yes. It's an old logo. We looked it up. It was 1979 to 2005. 1977. You said 79 to me. Oh, I said 77. Good night. He made it. He did this on purpose.
He made me look bad on my show, on my podcasts, on my best podcast. They're gonna call you James two years Sunday movies. Eighties. Don't call me that. Don't call me that. Eighties. Just don't call me that. Eighties. When did the matrix come out? Was it 2001? Two years, two years, off. It didn't. Eighties. So, what do you think of the logo? I like it. That's my favorite DC logo. They do. the show about the other logos and how the least favorite one is that sticker one that
it looks like it is the new 52 one. I don't know where there it is. I don't know if it's like it's that era. It's about you. New 52. Yeah. Or the other one. This also makes sense because this is also the logo that James Cun would have like been reading comics and like that's why we like it. That's why we like it. That's probably why we like it too. Yeah, I like it a lot. So no complaints. It's a logo also. I never really liked that you de-st that's not new now,
but the DC introduction they did. Yeah. But it's faceless. And it's just a bunch of characters who never appeared in the movie. Yeah. In the movie. It's all like four of those guys. Yeah. Yeah, that's fun. What a world of entertainment you're not going to get. Not only his back stories you'll never see. Completely great. Here's some back stories we were going to do. It's creature commandos. That's right. Got its first trailer. Rikflag senior.
Yep. Boys to buy what's his name? Oh, yeah. Got the crossbones. We've said it before. We know it. Don't think we don't know it. He did a Groundhog Day one. Yeah, yeah. Yeah. Frank Grillo. Frank Grillo. Yeah. So he plays, yeah. So Rikflag. Just if he doesn't have a podcast called Grillo Talk. He's missing out on a big chunk of change. Yeah. Yeah. Um, yeah. So he's Joel Kinnamund. Or Frank Talks. Oh, Frank Talk. Frank Grillo Talk. Okay. These are good. These are all good things. It's probably a
got a least one. We said we lied bed with your romantic partner and they just give you some Frank talk. You know, good. Sometimes you need to hear it's tough, but you need to hear it. You should start a podcast or you should quit your podcast. You know, I know. I like this. So creature commandos. It's basically like the freaks, right? Yeah. It's suicide squad, but they can't use real people anymore. So they use fake people. These monsters and robots. And
so once they go world bot 2 era. Oh, the GI robot. Yep. We got Mrs. Frankenstein and Mr. Frankenstein. Yeah. Two answer question. Yes. The Rizm is Mrs. Frankenstein. It's right. Dr. Foss for us. Dr. Foss for us. So I always thought was a real guy, but I guess once you mostly Foss for us. Yeah. Fine. Yeah. Well, weasel isn't weasel's in there as well. That's right. Yeah. Probably a couple of other guys. Yeah. Probably a couple other guys. Um, what do you think
of this? It looks pretty fun. I mean, the animation looks good as well, which I enjoy. Yes. Uh, because of course, you know, when you're watching invincible. And I am. It's, um, it's, the animation is not great. It comes and goes. Sometimes it as people have said it just like somebody's dragging a pin. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Which is fun. Of course, our by a lot of us is back as Amanda Waller. Oh, Alan Tudick is Dr. Foss for us. That's fun. David Harbour was
Eric Frankenstein. Oh my god. In Dear Avarm or as brighter Frankenstein. These are good. This is a great. Very cast. I love all of this. Cool. All right. And of course, the other trailer we got, but it wasn't at Comic Con. I think they just released this. It was how Joker got his groove back. So he's a bit bummed out. He took him out of Joker to Joker to Joker to Joker to Joker to Joker. I mean, and speaking of also this week, Todd Phillips said, no, this isn't going to be the
comic book Joker. He said, we will never make him the crown, crown prince of crime, crown prince of crime because Arthur clearly is not a criminal mastermind. He never was that. He has become a symbol of the people. This unwilling unwitting symbol now paying for the crimes of the first film, but at the same time, finding the only thing he ever wanted, which is love. That's pretty nice. Lame. Anyway, they're doing some songs. They are doing some songs.
Also, I think did someone point it out that if you turn the subtitles on, there is some voiceover from Harvey Denton. I think they said who the actor was. It's Frank Grillette. I didn't recognize him. But yeah, so yeah, it's definitely taking a different direction. Yeah, it says name is Harry Lautey. Harry Lautey. Harry Lautey. Yeah, he's playing Harvey Denton. I think he's going to get the acid. They're doing the acid right. I mean, what's going to happen in this movie? James, you know what I
mean? What's going to happen in the dancing and singing out? They do the big double kick on the stairs together. They do the double kick on the stairs. That's all on there for all. Do you think they're going to do double heads out of a car? Is it dry? Is it a city? Each side of the car just there. Yeah. Tung's flappin out the side. That's more of a head ledger thing. He had his head against the glass. Well, now they're going to do Tung's flappin out the window. A couple of dogs.
So this is set two years after the last one. I believe. They said in terms of singing, he's going to sing apparently like not a train singer like how somebody sings in the shower. And she's obviously Lady Gaga. She's going to sing like Lady Gaga. Probably how she sings, which could be a bit of fun. Yeah. I mean, you know, I mean, again, we've reached the point of is this even. And I said it at the time and I stand by it. It's probably could very well be
quite entertaining. But at what point, you know, if it's just, if he's not going to become a criminal mastermind and it's just some names of some characters from DC, is it is it Joe Crittall? Yeah, but it's called Joker. So I guess it was. Yeah. Well, it is. Yeah. I mean, I think it wouldn't have made a billion dollars if it was called just a clown who goes in a talk show. It's and shoots Robert DeNiro. I would watch that though. I'll bring in Gleason is in this.
Oh my God. Pretty exciting. I'm just going through it real quick here. He's doing some, he's a white in Phoenix. He's doing some. I'm not a crook. Oh, that's stuff. Did you see Bigger Joker? I did see Bigger Joker. So I had a dream this week. Oh, it was kind of a dream. It was coming like a giant. No, no, it's not big. I wish. It was a dream where I was like, what would be the perfect foil for Batman? Steve Kugin in this. Yes, he's played an interviewer.
The perfect foil for Batman and I've decided. Yes. And it's not a great idea. And it's an idea we say all the time. But what if it was just Bigger Batman? So it's Batman. He's exactly the same. He's slightly bigger, but he's also got all the stuff. If you live in a mansion, it's slightly bigger. He's got the whole bat family. They're all slightly bigger. And he's not a villain, but regular size Batman is just like this fucking guy. Is he like, is Bigger Batman just
showing him up all the time? Yeah, no, not even. He's just, he's surround. He is Batman. He's just bigger. Did they have their origins at roughly the same time? I don't know how it works. Maybe they're trying to figure it out and they're just like, we don't know. I mean, DC and the comic books now are, I don't know if you saw this, but they're doing a new absolute line. I think it's maybe to capitalize on Marvel. Absolutely. Bigger Batman. Well, I was going to say, I mean, if this isn't,
if this isn't Bigger Batman, I don't know what to tell you. Oh, damn, maybe this is where my dream came from. Maybe this is where your dream came from. That's not even a logo. It's just a rectangle. It's like a big block of off-cheese. I did see that this week. Yeah. So I think it's to capitalize on because Marvel now have a new ultimate universe. There's got bigger Captain America. Yeah, yeah, that's right. All right. So who's right in a bunch of those? Do we know? They've got some names.
So I can figure it out for you, James. Can you figure it out for me? DC's giving you details on absolute Batman at SDCC 2024. Absolute Batman. Scott Snyder is involved. So that Snyder's involved. That's right. Black mask is involved. Black mask. Black Batman is in his 20s. He's seven feet tall. He weighs 250 pounds and he's a city engineer. I'm sorry, he's seven feet tall. He's seven feet tall. Oh, so this is the version that is what if Batman was like made now, right? Kind of. So it's like
the origin is basically he's parents are killed but everything else is different. Is that the idea? I honestly could not tell you. Yeah, but he is he's like he's not a he doesn't appear to be a billionaire. He's like a city planning guy. He's a city planning guy. Yeah, yeah. And he's described as a thick boy and his character. Seven feet tall. He's seven feet and 250 pounds. I guess he hunches when he's at work. We didn't talk about this at the time, but they cast for the new season
of Richard. A guy who's bigger than Richard. I'm going to be a bigger. Richard. I love him this man. It's in the zeitgeist. Just fighting a guy who's bigger. Bigger. Bigger. Bigger. No, my Batman doesn't fight bigger Batman. Okay, all right. He just sees it. They just exist together at the same space. Yeah. Well, what an incredible dream you've had. What a mind on you. All right, we should do some Marvel stuff. That's do Marvel stuff.
It's time for the big one, Mason. The big one this year. I mean, who knows what's going to be next year? That's true. Yeah. Like with DC, DCU, etc. The first Marvel panel, it was purely dedicated to Deadpool and Wolverine. Oh, yes. Again, as we mentioned, we won't name them here. We'll talk about it in spoilers when we cover the movie. Big week. Yeah. But a couple of days after the big premiere. Yeah. They're like just eight people. Yep. You wouldn't expect to be in the movie. Unless,
yeah, unless you'd been spoiled. Just there that. And now you're being spoiled. Now, you know, hey, everybody. There they are. I mean, we'll talk about how well this is doing, but very well. It's like it's doing exceptionally well. Just talk of like the MCU is back, etc. But again, we'll save this for when we do our. Yeah. But then of course, we had the whole H panel on Saturday. The first thing we got to look at was Captain. Oh, initially it was just like some footage of
and some panels of stuff that we already knew about. And it felt kind of like, okay, it's out now. Yeah. And it wasn't what none of it was out now. Here's some projections. It's still in great. Yeah. Some was up. Don't leave. No. It's all cameos. Yeah. We dragged them in. I can't do make a brave new world where we saw that they saw not us Tim Blake Nelson. Again, it's coming back as a leader. That's right. The new Falcon was there. We know confirmed that the
big guy sticking out of the earth left over from the eternal is filled with adamantium. That's right. That's what the conflict is. Oh, we know that John color esposito's character is sidewinder. The king of the serpent society. It's he doing out in the street then. We're in a barn coat. Yeah, man. We're loading a gun. Yeah. What do you want out on this? What do you up to? It should be on a throne if you had a certain movie heat. Right. You dumb. You should be on a big,
you should be on a big cobra shaped throne. Yeah. Going, yes. Yes. Oh, yes. You could be saying yes. Slay my serpent. You should be saying. That's what if you're ahead of us, if you're ahead of a snake based evil organization, you have to sit on a throne and you have to say a lot of things with S at the start of the end. Exactly. That's why she job. What are you running around in the street? Running around hiding behind a car while people shoot out here embarrassing. Get with it. Get
with the sidewinder. Do you remember this was a joke when they were really captured in America Civil War? They said serpent society. Yeah, that's right. Just kidding. Yeah. Yeah. I mean, remember he said last week that like nobody has guessed my character and I was like that's bullshit. Somebody's definitely guessed it. I don't think anybody did guess this. That was right. And I was wrong. Nobody picked serpent man or whatever. It's serpent or
it's the same sidewinder. Sidewinder. Yeah. As you got Lizard snake vows and they don't know anything about it. They're really, they're really scraping the bottom of the barrel. Oh, Mason. Well, if they're scraping the bottom of the barrel, tell me this. Why did they show footage of Harrison Ford Hulk and out? And he also tried to Hulk out on stage. You remember that he was a real man. He couldn't do it. This is getting into the spirit of it. He's having a bit of fun.
Isn't he? Yeah. And I think he said something along the lines. If I saw people having fun in these movies and I thought I love that. I love having fun. I love having fun. I love getting a lot of money and having fun. That's right. I love Ali McBeal. I remember I can name my own price. That's right. Yeah. So I got up to nobody go for this. But yeah, apparently he's doing a speech on the White House law and then whatever and then he turns into the Hulk and etc. I don't know whether
they showed the president nearly got shot footage again. They probably didn't not imagine. Yeah, probably. Yeah, probably skip to that. I think that. Hey, who wants to see the president nearly getting shot? Which one is it though? Vote now. Vote on your phone. Vote on the Marvel app. Oh my god. So it looks like yeah, there's going to be from the footage that we saw of the Red Hulk. It looks like there is going to be that fight on the like grassy area in front of the White House.
That's right. Wouldn't that be fun? It's going to be good. I think it is. Yeah. Because it's going back to espionage. Yes. But also there's a big Hulk in it. That's exactly right. That's good. Sam, do you think that's going to be a situation where he's going to be Red Hulk forever? So they don't have to bring back Harrison Ford for subsequent movies if they don't want to. He could just say he could die. Yeah, he could die. That's true. Yeah. I don't know if they're ever going to bring
back the Red Hulk after this. It's put him in a box. Well, we've got, I mean, maybe he'll be maybe he'll be the henchman of a much bigger villain. Oh, wow. And they can just have him in the background sometimes. Yeah, okay. Well, that'd be fun too, wouldn't it? Fun. I think he's going to do some brave stuff. What does that mean? Brave New World. But I think he's going to become a good guy at some point. It's going to be like, what I've learned a lesson. I shouldn't have been a Hulk.
Okay. She's a Red Hulk is sort of a hero, I guess. I don't know about you. Even though we're my political allegiance as a lot. That's right. Yeah. Yeah. There you go. Just as he lowered taxes on podcasters. Love him. Well, they should be work hard. Yeah. I agreed. We get up. We go to the gym. That's right. We do our paper routes. You lowered the tariffs on that. You know, oh my God. You lowered the toll fees for crossing the bridge. Good.
That's good. Then we got Thunderbolts. David. That's asterisk. Yes, that's right. David, what's his name? Papa. You came out and he was in the uniform. He went, I'm Thunderbolts or whatever. Apparently big reveals, right? Oh, yeah. And total film. There's the synopsis. Yolana visits Red Guardians apartment and tells him that her only reason they'd live is to kill others. They then encounter the other Thunderbolts, Bucky Barnes, John Walker, Ghost and Taskmaster.
Only discover they've all been assigned to the same dangerous mission. And they want to know why. And of course, Lewis Pullman is playing a character called Bob. Okay. But we all know he's actually playing century. All right. Okay. So do you think they have to kill century or something? Maybe. Could be tricky, but they're all just kept. Because he's way more powerful. Yeah. They're all kept in America. Yeah. Yeah. Except that guy's the lowest Pullman. Did you say he's Bill Pullman's son.
He's in Top Gun 3 2 1. Oh, yeah. He's got a real Rob Reynolds kind of look to him. Doesn't he? Yeah. Rob Reynolds. Yes. This is Rob Reynolds. That's the century. I don't know. He's a real name. Oh, he's also Bob in Top Gun Maverick. There you go. I just said that. I said he's Top Gun. No, you thought he had a dream about it. I did. And he was bigger. Yeah. Big Bob. Big Bob Pullman. Yeah. When is this one? Big Bob Pull Truck. Mm. I like it because it's bigger than a man. That's good, Mason.
Yeah. I don't know. They haven't explained the, I said April of next year. Yeah. They're going to be very lucky not to get pulped by the century. Completely agree. But they haven't, Kevin Feige hasn't explained what the asterix is about. So I don't know. Do you think it might be refunds? Do you think it might be like a good beer? Do you reckon it could be like a darker than just a situation or something?
Yeah. Maybe. I'll also Julie Louis-Dreyfus was there. Yeah. She's in it. She's in it. She's what's her name. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Allegra of Valentine. Not had a lot to do really. To the past five plus years. No. Why was she's busy? Yeah. Veep. I finished a while ago. She's busy thinking about Veep and her role in Veep. I should finish Veep. Yeah. But of course the biggest stuff was saved for later, Mason. That's right. One of them being the footage that they showed for
fantastic for first steps. Now of course this star with a star. You're saying they let it be. Yeah. It's like. Do you know the working title is? What is it? Blurman. Blurman, Mason. Ah. Cascade on stage. Ah. The footage. Yeah. It's like you can't check it out. It's on, they keep taking it down. But it's available. Everybody whooped. Everybody whooped and hollered. Now it's a very, I mean it's set in the 60s and I'll turn it universe. I'll turn it
marvel universe. It's very the incredible. It is. It's very that George Clooney movie about the future of the past. Yeah. It's got that retro futurism vibe. It's a, you know, clear skies and it's a beautiful sky. It's a beautiful sky. It's a little, you know, sort of a Cadillac star flying car. Oh yeah. What do you think of that? Cool. Yeah. That was cool. Pretty cool. Very cool. Yeah. And of course we get the first look at Galactus' big face.
That's right. Finally. They're doing it right. Big face. Yeah. Big face, Mason. He's looking down at people. If they cast Galactus or did I imagine that? No, they did. It's the voice of that guy. Ralph Innocent. Is that his name? Probably right. I think he's got that voice. Hello. No. Hello. Hello. Oh yeah. He's, he's finchy from the office. Yes he is. Great stuff. Oh yeah. Yeah. Yeah. And additional stuff in the, in the footage we got
read Richards in teaching some sort of class. Yeah. And the students are very bored about it until he does. He explodes. Just fires off a big jet engine or something. That's fun. Ah, we've seen goes on a dating show. That's right. That's the, we see, yeah, we get in like an outline of what he, yeah, yeah, sort of looks like. And we see the, the four suiting up in the astronaut suit so they can take a journey into my, what's a journey into?
Storms hair look like because we don't know. There's a shaved hair. There's very little, Quinn. Yeah. Mr. Quinn. Joseph Quinn. Joseph Quinn. There's very little Joseph Quinn in this trailer. Dr. Quinn Joseph. They don't want to reveal his hair. I wonder if it's the traditionally, it's blonde, right? Well, you blonde, but is it also very closely cropped? Because that feels like the movie tradition of the last couple of Johnny storms. It's a very closely cropped hair. Yeah.
I don't know. Maybe he's just got his hair closely cropped because then you can stick a wig on it. Maybe he's keeping his hair close to the vest. Wow. Yeah. That's interesting. Yes. I didn't mind the look at this though. Again, like it's like footage and whatever whatever, but it did, it's, it's, they haven't filmed very much of it. Sorry. They basically flew in, did this panel, flew back out to, to keep going. Yeah. That was, it was, the whole panel was them just looking at
their watches inside. Yeah. Do not have time for this. It's Matt Shaqman. I've got a question, would it's actually more of a statement? What do you think of the name? First step. I love it. That'll be on the moon for a bit. Oh, yeah. That'll be a bit of fun. Maybe they haven't gone on the moon. Maybe they haven't gone on the moon in this universe. I think so. I bet. I can, they would have because of all that stuff. Yeah. It's director Matt Shaqman, who of course
did a bunch of one division and that's our own other stuff. Yeah. We did a movie called Cut Bank. Oh, Cut Bank. Sure. Which I haven't seen. All right. And then before we do the next bit of news, I just have this quote I want to read from Rolling Stone when they spoke to Logan director James Matt. No, they spoke to Logan director James Mangold about the multiverse stories because of course famously, Logan has returned in Deadpool and Wolverine. That's a load. Yeah. That's right.
And James Mangold killed him. That's right. And another man out of spite, I believe. Yeah. He said, I hate this character. That's right. And these movies. Yeah. I think you're a big tough guy. He said, I'll kill you. Give me Indiana Jones. That's right. I want to do something with it. It's not going to tell you what. Give me all your money, Disney. Give me all your money. I'll make up Indiana Jones movie. How I like it. Anyway, in terms of multiverse stories, he said,
I think it's the enemy of storytelling. For me, the goal becomes always what is unique about this film and these characters, not making you think about some other movie or some Easter egg or something else, which is all an intellectual act, not an emotional act. You want the movie to work on an emotional level. So true. I bring this up Mason because the biggest news, of course, was the reveal that there's a new Avengers movie. We're going down the Kang route. It was going to be
Avengers Kang Dynasty. Yes. They've changed it to Avengers Payday. Sorry, Mason. I mean, Avengers Doomsday. James Mason. Why would you be supposed to be a professional podcaster? Yeah, I know. They lowered all those taxes on podcasting. So get buddy, buddy, smart and up. All right. Look, I lost all my money in gambling. I don't even know what specifically, but I just, you know, I was just doing some random gamble, some random gambler. Yeah, that's right. That's
what we call it in Australia. We call it random gambler. That's right. So the first Avengers movie is going to be called Avengers Doomsday with the return of Doctor Doom, which we'll talk about in a minute. The return, I guess, in this, it's been other Doctor Dooms. There was Victor Dahmachiev in 2015. Yes. And there was the guy from NipTuck, whose dad was the prime minister right? Correct. Yes. That's correct. That's correct. Yes. That's going to be in May of 2026.
And then we got Avengers Secret Wars in May of 2027. The Russo brothers, as rumored last week, they are returning to direct. That's right. They went off and they made their own Apple Plus and Netflix movies. Whatever they did. That's right. And their own Apple pies. That's right. And then they said, you know what? We're going to do some more Marvel movies because they did really, really well. And people liked them. So they're already, they've already done four. So this is
what we're bringing down our own average. It seems that office wise. Some of these are zero. Because they're streaming. That's right. So this will be, I guess, their fifth and sixth Marvel movies because we're in the soldier civil war, Infinity War and Endgame. It seems as if if they're going to release 26 and 27, they would be filmed back to back, presumably, like the last ones were. Of course, we know a lot about filming movies. We know how things
work, Mason. First of all, how do you feel about them returning? It feels like a safe bet. Yeah. That's what I think I said that last week. I think it's, you know, they work well in quantity. They work well in the toy box as it were. Yeah. All the toolbox. All the tool shed. Yeah. All those men's shed or a man cave. Yeah. All of that. All that stuff. So Steven McPhilly, he's going to return to right, but not Christopher Marcus. And they worked on it. They're falling out.
Those are, I don't know. I think they did. They probably had a big falling out. Let's spread that room. One punched the other one. I don't know who else. Interesting, isn't it? The king hit. Was it? You should do that. I know. It's bad. Yep. You got a jail for that in Australia, which is good. I agree. Not the king hit the jail bit. So yeah, they've basically reassembled the creative team from the last Avengers. Right. I mean, Deadpool, so in the news,
we make reference to like, yeah, we're in this. We're in an era of Marvel movies. You're bringing a wild car. They should bring in Mel Brooks. Oh my God. Didn't you reason to do history of something is back again? Absolutely. Yeah. And it was. Yeah. Bad. They should bring in Mel Brooks and Armando, Ironucci just, just, just fart gags and political commentary. It haven't fired it out in the right as a American. Oh my God. But he is the twist. They're not
taking any of those pages. It's all just the chucking them in all in the bit at the end of the day. Far from it. They just want to watch these two go at it. Now, of course, the big reveal from this. And again, this was a room in last week. I believe it was Jeff Snyder was that the Dr. Doom casting. Yeah. Could you believe it, Mason? I could not believe it. But in retrospect, I can't believe it. He talked about it last week. We did. It's true. Yeah. Yeah. So Robert Downey, Jr.
took the took to the stage in a, in a Dr. Do. No, a man. A man. A man. We didn't know. It's a suspiciously shaped like Robert Downey, Jr. I tried his shape. It's got those boots. He's got those boots. Yeah. So those boot catch pants and those boots. He whips them up. He's six foot one. Oh, yeah, definitely. He's six foot one. He whips the mask off and the new Dr. Doom is going to be in the fantastic four universe, then presumably a joke. And he's going to start in the 60s universe.
Great question. You don't actually know. I mean, it is a multiverse fellow. I mean, this, this was designed to do big wooze in whole age. Oh, yeah. But I mean, we got to scant details. We don't know. Is, is he going to be Victor Vondum and we only get the voice? Yeah. As he learned from Pedro Pascal, that he can just not sharpen to the voice. Or is he a Tony Stark from that universe who is going to go bad and become Dr. Doom?
What are we doing? Yeah. Something to do with the cave. The cave went differently. Oh, yeah. The cave mode of cave went different. Sure. And he became Dr. Doom. You ran out the other end of the cave and it was the wrong end. The wrong end, the bad guy. You ran into a Dr. Doom costume. All right. Sure. You went all right. Oh, yeah. Of a bit of this. Now, Variety says and there are no and reputable source that he is.
They broke the Skibitty toilet story. Did they? Yep. That's huge. That's big news. Yeah. They're saying that he's playing Victor Vondum. And he's dumb. What? Of celebrity news. Wow. Yeah. Reveals big dump. I didn't know that. Yeah. It was in their big dump segment. Variety's big dump. They're saying that he's, um, he's playing Victor Vondum. Okay. Right. I don't know whether they're just saying that because that's the name that he has. But, you know,
yeah. Also, as we know, and I'll do that more in spoilers. But in the MCU and the multiverse, there are characters super heroes who are played by the same actor who played different characters in different dimensions. That's true. So he could play Victor Vondum and Tony Stark and Mainline. Yeah. Yeah. And that would be totally within the laws of whatever. What would you prefer? I would actually prefer if they did Victor Vondum with an
entirely different actor. So, oh, okay. Well, it's too too late and too bad. No, that's not. Well, I mean, that probably, yeah, you go to hell. You go to hell. You're right. But I think, um, I think I'd probably prefer this to be a Tony Stark variant and have another Doctor Doom. Maybe at some point, because I feel like it is such a, I'm not against this. Yeah.
Like, I know there's a lot of, I mean, in the planet broadcasting great mates group, there's a lot of people, and not just their people saying this is like, this feels like a desperate Hail Mary kind of situation. Because he's the big money maker. He's the big money maker. Like, I can't even imagine what they're going to have to pay him for this. Yeah. Um, and, and of course, the, the Kang Dynasty thing completely fell down. Like they lost the actor. Yeah.
And the stories, and I mean, we can't recast this guy who famously looks like a bunch of other no, he's just put a blue mask on, whoever. Yeah, yeah. Yeah. But like, yeah, and I was like, that wasn't working. Like, it didn't work as like, as it, when it kicked off, yeah, I mean, it that's been going for several years. And nobody really knows where it was headed. Yeah. Is no, nobody feels like, oh, he's got, he's ongoing villain with a sort of, you know, an arc and a,
and a goal and a, and a plot. People are just like, oh, we just, we're just doing a sort of things. Are we? We're just rolling through multiverse scenarios and the worlds at stake and it's that. And like, there was no, yeah, there was no sense of drive to the last phase. No, it absolutely felt like that. Like, who's a, who's in charge? Who's in the Avengers? Is it young Avengers? What are we? Yeah. What are we doing? Who bought Avengers tower? No, damn, we still don't know.
I think we're gonna, I think we're gonna reveal it's just like a real estate company. Oh, that's fun. Yeah. And they've turned into a vape shop. Vape, they've turned into a vape shop slash American candy store. Oh, wow. Despite the fact that it's in America. Yeah. That would call it, you can get prime. That would call it regular candy store. Nope. They call it American candy. They call it Stanley's American candy. Yeehaw. Oh, wow. Yeah. That's right. What I think could be interesting about
this anyway, to answer your question, James, I would prefer if he was just Victor Vondo. And, but played by yeah, but I think, I mean, also he was recently in the show, The Simpathizer, where he just got to do a bunch of different makeup looks. Wigs. Maybe he's gotten addicted to wigs and makeup looks and he's like, make me a different guy. God. That's a, that's a dangerous thing to be addicted to. Make me my character in Tropic Thunder. You know, you know, that thing
that I did for Tropic Thunder. I want to be that, but I'm Victor Vondo. That would be incredible. So I would prefer if he's just Victor Vondo and he's, because again, you know, he, he talked about how he's got back into acting when he did Oppenheimer. Yeah. Maybe he's like, I'm going to do a complete, maybe he's like, I'm going to do such a completely different character. You will never, you will never even imagine that I'm the same guy. I don't doubt that he can pull that off, but like,
these things can go any number of ways. I mean, we've seen Johnny Depp attempt like variations on Captain Jack Sparrow. Like it's all a tie. Yeah, it's all these being trying to do. He basically did that movie. And then of course he did Dr. Doe Little and that, you know, with a weird accent and whatever and that didn't go super well. But I think in terms of like getting I know people like again, like Mike called this desperate or lazy or like again, they're just,
they're looking to like reignite the Marvel of old. But it does make sense. We talk about this all the time because for the general audience, this is bringing back somebody that you know, but it's not exactly the same. Like it's safe and it's new enough to be exciting. That's true. To some. Yeah. Yeah. I'm not sold on it. I think I look, I think it'll probably end up working on some level. But I'm not like super excited about it. I don't even feel like, I feel like he's
still just left. I don't feel like it's been. Oh, I feel like it's been a long time, honestly. Yeah, really? Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. 2019. So yeah, I guess it's been a lot of years since, you know, who else probably feels like it's been a long time? My Charlotte Arley. Yeah. Yeah. No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no. But yeah, my hope for this is either like best case scenario, it is him doing completely different performances. Like I'm going to, I'm going to, it's it's unrelated
to Tony Stark. Yeah. And it's he's not a, he's not a Tony Stark variant or whatever because that's multiverse. And I think people are kind of sick of that. Yeah. He's just, he's going to put on a new performance and people are going to be like, if I didn't know already, I wouldn't know that was stocked. Yeah. But I mean, otherwise you could always have him killed off in the first movie and then somebody finds the mask in the regular universe. And it's someone gets him with a big
laser. Someone gets him from a different dimension. This laser defeats everybody. That's right. I'm pointing it at you. I know it's difficult to be bigger than you Robert Downey's. You're six with one. I'm six with two. That's right. That's right. My heels are pretty big though. Yeah. Yeah. You know, we'll probably decide. But I think like they've obviously thought, thought this through. And then they, they really have they have, I think they have, no, I think they have, I think you
can see they've completely stripped back the television stuff. Yeah. They didn't as far as I know, they didn't mention it. Like there is television stuff still coming. We've got Daredevil, we've got Agatha, probably another thing. But they're not really doing that anymore. Right? Not true. Yeah. So I think they are, they're like, we need to refocus this. I mean, even the idea of having like, TV's the home of Star Wars got damn it. Finally. But like the idea of like Tom Holland's
idol who died at it, like completely traumatized him. And now he has to fight like a guy who looks exactly like him. Okay. Sure. I thought what like, honestly, the way that they could have gone was that what they were going to do Captain Hydra. They were going to do Steve Rogers. Because it's like the most virtuous character. Sure. Yeah. But that being said, there is room here. And I really wouldn't put a past them to bring back Chris Evans. And this version of Victor von
Doom makes a version of Captain Hydra. What if you get evil versions? I've ever, maybe that's, I mean, maybe that's what I'm saying. Yeah. We were talking about Thunderbolts asterisk recently. And that in the comic books, the Dark Avengers, Norman Osborne, the Green Goblin, all the heroes were on the run. So Norman Osborne built his own Avengers and he got the evil versions of all the yeah, heroic characters to masquerade as the hero. So he got, you know, a version of venom as
Spider-Man. You got aries to be Thor, you know, et cetera, et cetera. So maybe, maybe that's what we're leading towards. But what if we got a movie where the villains were all evil version? We got an evil black guy. That's what I was saying. I mean, this is cost $500 million. Yeah. But if we, yeah, if you get an evil black widow, you don't even have to get them on the same day. Not true. It's a little more on a green screen than put them together. Yeah, well, yeah, exactly.
Scan the heads, make them look bad. You know, yeah. I mean, I'm not saying that's what's going to happen. But then you know, when you got that dynamic, like the Civil War dynamic of like Tony Stark and Steve Rogers, you do that. You flip it. You do Victor Vondom, you do Captain Hydro off. Yeah. I don't know. I don't know. I mean, maybe what if, I mean, there's probably time to do a little teaser at the end of New Captain America. What if there's a reveal, like I don't know?
Steve Rogers is back, but he's a that's right. Hydro man. Yeah. Call me Steve Rogers. It's perfect. It is an asset to start at the end. God, they're 10 steps ahead. 10 steps ahead. Yeah. 11th dimensional chess. Now we talked about this. Yes. Now in terms of like how much he's going to be in it, Victor Vondom is famously masked for a lot of it. Correct. Yes. In some versions, he's actually a beautiful man with a tiny scar and he's fine. So he wears the mask.
Yeah, but I'm assuming. And funny is version is the way he's he got a tiny little scar and he went and he built a big hot mask and put it on himself before it cooled down and it burned his entire house. That is funny. That is very funny. A funny version is also where he's mum. They should call him Dr. Damas. Dr. Damas barbecue face. They should call him. He didn't think to pull it off immediately either. Yeah. Right. What a Damas. I'm asking. There's a version of course where he's
mums in hell. That's fun too. But so I think it's going to be masked on. Yeah. Did you see put on Tony Stark? Tony Stark, but he is Tony Stark. But Robert Downey Jr. put on like a like a new pair of sunglasses. No, what does that mean? Like it's different that he's normal kind of, you know, he's adopted like the the Iron Man kind of sunglasses. Yeah. That's kind of they're kind of like I can't turn my computer around Mason because they're. He's like Oakley speed dealers.
There's pretty much there's several weights on my computer to keep it running. Yeah, I'm sure. Look, I trust you James. No, you want to say these. Okay. I know they're not that interesting. Okay, right. Yeah, get it. But they're slightly different. Yeah, they're slightly bigger. Yeah. I think that says something or nothing. I think it does, too, doesn't it? Yeah. I mean, again, we're talking about the comic books. There is some sort of historical precedent for,
you know, Iron Man and Dr. Doom swapping armors sometimes. Oh yeah. Sometimes Dr. Doom will take over as Iron Man. He's done that before. There was a series called Informa's Iron Man. Yeah, that happened. And etc. So, you know, yeah. I think also they're going to have hologram Robert Downey Jr. Iron Man fight. Dr. Doom at one point. They're going to they're going to, you know, he's backed up. He's brain and whatever. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Tom Holland's going to be like,
my dad's here. Yeah. My dad's here to help me. And that's it. That's his one line of movie. My dad's here. And people will have t-shirts. They've got it on the next year's Comic Con. T-shirts is my dad's here, you know? Anyway, so Avengers Doob's Day is going to be May 2026 as mentioned in Avengers Secret Wars May 2027. Not that long away. That long way. Yeah. And then shut down the multiverse. Shut it down. He thinks so. Yeah. Yeah. This is gone as far as this to go. I know the
molecules, they're all changed. You can never do a multiverse again. Oh no. That's a shame. That is a shame. Until next time. But also like until people aren't tied of it anymore. Yeah. Wink. And the molecules will get better. Will that? Yep. That's had a bit of a rest. Yeah, that's right. All right. Should we move it along? We switched the universe off and back on again. It's a multiverse again. That'll do it. Yeah.

Did Paul and Wolverine?
You know, sometimes they say history takes years or something and then history is all happens in a week. And that's what feels like this week of mouth. You think about buses. I'm thinking about buses. What's it do with that? Sometimes buses take years and then sometimes there's three buses in a week in history. Wow. Yeah, that's right. You know, seldom to buses make great history. The expression, I believe. I don't think you're thinking of it. That's great actually. That's
right. I still learn. Anyways, Deadpool and Wolverine on a budget of $200 million and you can see every single second of it. In New Jackman's pockets. Yes. Probably. It looks like the U.S. return for this could be what about 205 million, but maybe more. That's big. That's going to be the highest ever R rated opening movie. It's going to beat out Deadpool 2016, which made 133 million. So much higher than that. Plus, it's going to make about another 211 internationally. So the global
opening for this movie is 420 million plus. That's a big R rated opening. It's a joke worthy of Deadpool. Definitely, Mason. That's right. So yeah, this is a huge hit. I mean, you know, it's broken even already. Yeah. It'll probably have a bit of legs. I mean, it might drop off dramatically in the second week, but I don't know where it tends to be. Seems to be pretty good on this.
And I think a lot of people, a lot of regular real people, who have sort of been clamoring for a long time and they probably a lot of them just didn't have time to see it opening weekend. That's right. We'll see it next weekend. Regular and real. Regular and real. What do you think the story was? Come on, mate. You can do it. All right. Okay. Well, I will say this movie starts with a big action sequence. Yeah, man. It's funny and disrespectful and very violent. And there is a song.
There is a song. But then after that, we learn that Deadpool, he's quit. He's quit the game. He's quit the mercenary game. He's quit the superhero in game. That's right. He's just a regular guy now. He sells cars. He's living a regular life with his friends from previous Deadpool movies. That's right. Some of them. That's right. Not cable. Cable's not there. No, there's, no, there's a domino. She's not there either. Yeah. Interesting. But I mean, they're all barely there,
aren't they? Neither's, neither's TJ Miller. TJ Miller isn't there. It's going on. I don't know. I've forgotten about him. He's got blown up in that construction out of whatever. Oh, and that transformers through that. He just turned into a melted statue. That happened in real life. So that's great. That's great news. Anyway, then some stuff happens. Yeah. And then
Deadpool learns, this is the deepest we're going to spoilers. I feel like until we talk about in the spoiler section, Deadpool learns that his universe, the Fox X-Men universe, has lost its anchor being, which is Logan from the movie Logan. Yeah. And as a result, his universe is going to slowly unravel over the period of several thousand years. Yeah. But, what? But Matthew McFadden. Matthew McFadden, Mr. Paradox, an agent of the TVA. That's the time
variance authority from the TV show Loki. Yeah. He wants to prove himself as a valuable member of the TVA. So he's going to cause the Deadpool universe to explode in 72 hours. And how does Deadpool learn this? Well, Mr. Paradox tells him it pulls him out of the universe and says, and he says, hey, I know how you're a famously violently unpredictable man who always tends to do the right thing in the end. You're not going to do anything violently unpredictable right now. Are you? Yeah. Like to
to in order to do the right thing. I've got this telephone that can go anywhere. Yeah. You're not going to, you're not going to be violent. Oh, you're not going to be violent. Oh, you are. Oh, you are. Oh, all right. And then Deadpool does a Deadpool and Wolverine. It's like I better do a Deadpool and Wolverine. His idea is to replace the Wolverine in his universe. Yeah. And that, but I guess that's also okay. So just some timeline stuff. It doesn't matter. He's the thing. It doesn't matter.
It doesn't matter because the version of Logan in the main universe is dead. But that also happens like a few years after this. Yes. But he knows that because I guess he time travels to the future. Sure. And so he knows that Wolverine is dead. This is unrelated to the time tampering of the previous movie. Yes. That what is mentioned in passing. Yes. So Wolverine is dead even though he shouldn't be in this timeline. He should still be alive. Right. At this point. It doesn't matter.
So he could have just got the one that's alive is what I'm sorry. Oh, I guess so. But I'll also that happen somewhere else. I reckon it probably happens somewhere else. It's not like he has a machine that can go anywhere. Look, I suspect one of the reasons. Well, yeah, he destroyed it. Yeah. But then he gets another one. No, I think that's in a flashback. The one that he has. I'll then he gets another one. He does still another one. Look, I think look, a lot of stuff we're
going to encounter in this. It doesn't matter. It never mattered. It's never mattered. The X-Men timeline is fucked and Deadpool movies. They've never attempted to make any sense of it. Yeah. Yeah. Also, I just was this some at least partially put together during the writer's strike. Yes. Okay. Well, that explains more. That explains more of it. That explains a lot of stuff, actually. Yeah. It does. Doesn't it? Yeah. Now look, people are saying look, the MCU is back
with her. This is the same. The MCU is done. That's right. Some people are saying that this is the best or one of the best comic book movies of all time. Some people are saying slopped. I don't even think this is the best Deadpool movie. Interest. I love the inclusion of Wolverine in this. I go back and forth between Deadpool one being the best Deadpool movie in Deadpool two being the best. Two is good. One is really good in the sense that they use the very limited budget at
that disposal. Something creative and interesting. Well, this one has an unlimited budget. That's correct. And maybe it doesn't exactly lend itself to a great storytelling. Because I think for this, probably the weakest aspect of it is just the plot in general. Yes. And I think the action is also we'll talk about it is just not great. Right. It's I liked it, but I wasn't enamored with it. Well, here's the thing. We watched it at the start of last week. So we've had essentially
infinite time to think about this. And I've flipped flopped a number of times throughout the week. Wow. And what I've said a lot, I've made peace with this. So I'm like, well, a lot of this is not great. You know, we're more or almost none of this we can talk about without spoilers. So we're going to have to do a lot of this in spoilers. But we have talked about in recent weeks, I think maybe on this podcast, maybe in a bonus podcast, maybe in a real life, if you can even imagine that sort of
thing, they don't make like broad Zucker brothers comedies anymore. Yeah. Like yeah, epic movies, scary movies. Yeah. Yeah. You're superhero movies. Oh, it's Paris, Hilton. Exactly. Oh, it's Jessica Simpson. And I think one of the reasons for that is because there's every there's so much stuff out there. Yeah. And everybody's getting their entertainment from so many different avenues that you could make a movie like that. And it could have 100 references to movies and TV shows and
memes and politics and current events. And a person could watch it and come out and go, I didn't get any of those because it was a Netflix movie. I didn't see TV series on stream. I didn't have what shame of thrones. Yeah. Exactly. That sort of stuff. And this movie, again, plot-wise, not great. But this is like this is like one of those movies. I don't mean quality-wise. I mean, like as a framework, this is like like scatter shot. This is like a Zucker brother. I think I would
say it's not as good as like an airplane or a top secret, but it is like a cut above it. But it's sort of this works because you know that the people who are going to watch this at least have a like a framework of that. Yeah. Like they know if they haven't seen every one of these movies, they know there's a lot of Marvel stuff out there. They've seen the X-Men movies. They've
seen the dance camisos. So it's kind of like a Zucker brothers kind of thing. It's like if they made the movie hot shots and they cast Tom Cruise and Val Kilmer as Maverick and Goose to make fun of the movie Top Gun. Right. It's that. They've got Hugh Jackman and Ryan Reynolds
to make fun of their own prior work. Right. Yeah. So I've made peace with that. So I would say, look, I would say as a general, generally speaking, like if you see this as a series of loosely connected sketches that are like, that are making fun of the many foibles of the overly complicated Marvel universes, I think it mostly works. I think there are a lot of funny gags. I think there's some dead space. Yeah. I think that out theater, we saw it in a pretty packed theater. It wasn't,
and that was like the earliest session that you could see it. And people weren't like rolling around the floor laughing. Like it got some laughs, but it wasn't. People weren't, there wasn't, which you say there wasn't like a lot of laughs from people. I don't care about anywhere there anybody else laughs. I laughed a bunch of times. No, no, no, I'm not saying that it's not funny. I'm just saying the reception wasn't like just raucous. Oh, okay. Right. I'm saying. Yeah, maybe.
I can there for me. There was like three really solid jokes that I enjoyed, which we'll talk about in spoiler. But I think all in all, like a lot of it was like a lot of the jokes were referenced to a previous thing or a pop culture reference and look at my balls. And that's kind of the, did you feel did you get a kind of robot chicken vibe from it? It's like a lot of some of robot chicken. It's, you know, some of it's pretty low hanging fruit like balls. Some of it's like, you know,
this guy's too stoic or this guy has an accent that's difficult to understand. Like it felt kind of, you know, you, you, when we, after we watched this, you said that my opinion was probably going to be, this is like watching, this is like reading and like a random issue of a comic. Yeah. And I'm like, how dare you kind of was. But again, I think like as a, as a series of sketches that are like,
you're in the know and you're having a bit of fun. This doesn't have to, this isn't the death of cinema, you know, it's not, you know, there are people out there going, oh, this is, this is a cynical slop or whatever. I genuinely think that the people like a lot of effort has a lot of effort went into some like many aspects of this. I think the idea of like we, we've all experienced these movies and there's a lot of funny to be mined out of this sort of stuff. I think a lot of
that works. But again, I think the plot is weak. Like it, it's weak and it's, it's, like I said earlier, why would you tell Deadpool that you're going to destroy his universe? Like that's the thing that could have been solved. And I think I genuinely think that was probably going to be a conversation that Deadpool overheard. Oh, yeah, yeah. There's a character that can, you know, fly you alive with the power of their mind from 20 feet away until it's inconvenient to happen. And then they just
don't. Yeah. It's that sort of thing. If you are, if you're going through this to, if you, if you were thinking this is going to be like a rock solid addition to the MCU, like we're more stuff has to make sense, it's not going to work for you. Yeah. So Emma, Karen plays Cassandra and over. And yeah, I think she's actually good. Like her performance is good. But yeah, it is that bit of like you could kill everybody. Also like often we cause it doesn't because she's crazy.
That's right. Because often they're going, a lot of this is in the void, which we've seen in low key. Yes. So it's if you get zapped with one of those sticks, you end up in the void. So you know who you're going to run into in there. That's right. And then that maybe some cameo that big cloud is coming. But also like you can just kind of go inside Ant Man and then it won't get you. Yeah. I don't, I'm not really sure that this was like I think that speaks to like, yeah, we didn't
think about it that much. Which is fine because really this is just a, this whole structure is an avenue for doing the jokes. Yeah. But I would say that being said, some of the jokes would have been better. Yeah. I don't disagree. Because I think also in, I think the first deadpool in particular, it's so tight because of the budget. And like every scene has to, has to work and connect in a way that makes sense. And you can't rely on like, oh, look who with that is or whatever. Like well,
you don't have to do this here. You can kind of like, it feels kind of more slapped action. Yeah. We can do whatever. Like I know also people are talking about and this speaks more to the cameo is that it is like a loving homeage to like Fox Marvel. But I don't really know if it is. I mean, there's kind of a, there's a bit of the, like you see, you might see like a few people from that
universe again, not sked into specifics. But at the end in the credits, there's, there's like a some behind the scenes footage of some of those movies to set to Green Day's time of your life. Uh-huh. And so, but I think so it leaves you with the sense that like, this is a love at loving homeage. But these characters, a lot of the times they'll, they'll show up and they're, they're in a room together and they have a conversation. But it does again feel like that thing of like,
well, that person probably didn't film on the same day as that person. Right. I don't know. Yeah. And you know, and there's an action scene, but it's, you know, it doesn't really kind of gel in a way that they're working together. Yeah. Yeah. So yeah. I don't know if it is. Do you think it is like a loving homeage? I think, I think probably like Jackman and Reynolds do genuinely like a lot of the work they've done. Yeah. And I think that sort of comes through. Also,
they're really good. Like they're great. I mean, uh, if you Jackman especially, he's put, for a guy who has said in the past that he doesn't really want to do Wolverine anymore, maybe he's changed his mind, but he's, he puts in 150%. Yeah. He's put it, he's putting in way more than anybody else in this movie. Absolutely. And the idea in this universe is that this guy is the worst Wolverine in the multiverse. But it's just the same Wolverine you've seen. Absolutely.
Not in a bad way. Yeah. We do get, we do visit some odd dimensions. We'll talk about this in spoilers. But yeah, if you're like, well, maybe this will be a Wolverine we haven't seen before, you have. You saw him. Probably the Wolverine is probably the closest version. No, it's like it's Logan. Oh, yeah, it is like it's slightly younger like yeah. Yeah. It's exactly Logan. I would, it's exactly Logan. Is that a very similar story? You're, you are, you are not wrong.
But yeah, so I would say look, we're going to get another, we're going to get another Deadpool. You would imagine if this is going to do the numbers that they're expecting. I mean, he'll at least show up. Yeah. So I would like another Logan. I would like another Deadpool movie. Again, I would like another movie that's when I was a kid, there was a, there was a Marvel comic called What The. Yeah. And it was like the parody. Like Roves What The? Yeah, I think that's
where he got the name. And, and it was kind of, it was that it was like, it was like a, it was like Mad Magazine, but with all the Marvel characters. Right. Okay. And it felt like that. And I would love it. I would like another Deadpool. Again, if you got, if you're being like, well, this is the self-restraintial one. This is where we do funny sketches about all our previous work. Yeah. I would love to see another one if the jokes were better. Yeah. Okay. And you worked a bit harder on it.
Wow. Well, what was going to save this to the end, but you're going to do it now. This is other concepts, which were considered for the movie. Now, some of these have been revealed in like, they're on a hot one. Yeah. There's no spoilers here in terms of what they ended up making. This is from executive producer Wendy Jacobson, who spoke to comic book resources. He said so many different ideas. They really ran the gamut. I think at one point, we had a very modestly
budgeted indie road trip movie with him and Dopeinda. Dopeinda, who's belly in this. We had a frame for frame remake of Thor 2 with Deadpool in it until the first act to break. We had all kinds of things. That would be funny. Yeah. We had Deadpool's deleted scenes as Trevor Ganzer, where he was just going to show that Deadpool was in the MCU all along. His scenes were just on the cutting room floor. I think they should have done that with the century. Oh, yeah. Okay. Yeah.
Because he's the character. Is the character that I forgot? Have I talked about the podcast? You have. Yeah. Okay. Maybe the paywall stuff. Oh, maybe. Do you want to know? No, not really, but I've always said that they should be. If the century were to get his own solo move, which I don't think is going to happen anymore, but the idea that he's a character that was in the Marvel Universe and never would be forgot, you just inserted him into, well, you maybe even do
a P.A.V. shot of him in those scenes. You know, like the scene in the Avengers where they were all, you know, in the third act where they were all like, you go and do this and you go and do this. I mean, you go and do this and I'll smash. And by the way, century, you go and do this. And then it's like, right, I got you. He's always been there. It was very remembers. Yeah. Yeah, you're right. I don't think they'll do that. I had on hot ones, of course. They said the
original idea for the movie was to shoot a fake movie called Alpha Cop. That was intentionally bad. I even had one of the posters made. It was about two guys. This is Ryan Reynolds talking. About two guys that were sharing one brain and together to make the perfect cop. It was meant to be kind of like horrible, like 10 people in America would go to see this movie on opening weekend. And five minutes into the movie, the Marvel logo would flip up and it would actually be Deadpool
and Wolverine. The problem is that if you managed to get down to the last minute and it got blown, it would just be heartbreaking. You would, yeah. You could not pull that off either. No, also speaking of my great ideas. Did we talk about this? I thought that that's how the way they should have done the Matrix Resurrections. Oh, like pretend it's a different way. Pretend it's a movie where you pretend it's a movie where you're like a romcom.
Well, yeah, you pretend it's a you could use most of the elements from the movie, but you pretend it's a you do a you do a press release where it's like one of the wachowskis is very tame with Kiana Reeves and Karyan. Moss for like a romcom. Yeah, it's about a software executive and he's tied up his job and there's a mom and they have a connection or whatever. And you do a limited release and it'd be like everybody would be like, you know, most people like, well, it's not the
Matrix I'm not seeing it, but some people would be like, I like that creative team. I'll go see it and then 20 minutes in you like, we're the Matrix. That would be amazing. And then it's the Matrix, but it's again, it's too late. Yeah, it's too late. That would be, oh man, like and that would be like recreating the original Matrix twist. That's what I'm talking about. And the idea of how that would work would be because people because it's the Matrix Resurrections is about people who've
like boiled the Matrix down to Kung Fu and whatever and slow mo. So it's for the people who are like, no, I actually like creativity. I'll go and say, yeah, but again, it's too late. You had a similar idea for something related to a romcom, but I feel like I don't want to say it because somebody would just do it. No, it was a romcom that diverged in a horror movie. Very, very, yeah. Now that was it. And I feel like that's probably being done. You can do that in horror because there's no
financial and nobody's keeping it close on. Well, again, nobody would do it. It's very easy to have great novel ideas when nobody's letting you handle the money. Exactly. Because there was, yeah, we've talked about this that like the Matrix 4 came out because maybe Hollywood, that's all they wanted from more chauskies generally. So the idea that they could, you know, a novel way to do this could be pitched wouldn't work because if nobody went to see it, just wouldn't,
you know, it's a failure. I know, it's a great. Just before we do spoilers, I just want to talk a little bit about the action. I think it's pretty kind of static and repetitive. Yeah. Like, initially when you see like Wolverine 5 Deadpool, it's interesting, but then it kind of happens again and they have like this big kind of one-a-together at the end. And it's just kind of flat. And I think part of it is like, I think the first one is probably the most interesting,
but they're invincible. So it kind of just goes on, but it's not funny enough to be like, they're invincible, but if you cut Deadpool's head off, that would be the end of it. And yet somehow, a man with six adamantium calls never does that. Yeah. You know, so it's just one too. Maybe he doesn't, well, maybe he's too good a guy. Maybe he is. But you know, you're right. I think the first action sequence is the best one, which is without Wolverine. I was going to say the fight that he
has with Wolverine is the best Wolverine fight that they have. The one in the void. The one in the void is pretty good. Yeah. But in the right, just to see it, then there's another one in a car, and there's, you know, and so on and so forth. Yeah. Look, I'm going to say best movie ever. I do want to do needle drops just quickly. There's a lot of them. Yeah. And they're pretty jarring. Yeah. Is that because it's a, is that because Deadpool needs to be a heightened version of previous
movies and Guardians 3 and those sort of movies have really like that. That is pretty much as far as you know, three borderlands. That's right. That's a big needle drop movie. Is that as, you know, that's pretty much right up to the line before being very obnoxious. Yeah. So if you are, if you were making a Deadpool movie where everything has to be heightened and more, they have to be obnoxious. Yeah. Or is it just they're like, this is just what we do.
I mean, I like the Madonna one. I like the, there's an n-sync one at the start. And I don't remember any of the other ones. But I remember some of them being like, oh yeah. Anyways, for the spoilers, yeah, I think it is best movie ever. I've seen also people being like this reignites the MCU, but I don't know because as somebody famously shouted at me in YouTube comments, Deadpool lives in his own space. And this doesn't really point to the bigger thing that they're doing.
That's true. Yeah. I mean, I know that it does do some multi-verse stuff. And who knows who could shout next. But there was also a couple of self-referential lines that are like people are tied over the multiverse. Yes. You know, well too bad. Yeah, too bad you get in a few more. Settle in. It's right. But it does kind of feel like this, like all Deadpool movies, it is kind of self-contained. Yes. And I don't know. I think as a, as a hit on its own, yes. Does
that, will it mean that people will be excited for like Thunderbolts? No, because that has nothing to do with that's exactly right. Yeah. Or Captain America. Everybody wants to look at Florence Puse balls. Exactly. Anyway, spoilers. All right. Cameos, Mason. Oh, it's type of spoilers and cares. Henry Cavill, which will be right. Well, folks, if you haven't, if you haven't already been spoiled by the internet. Yeah. Oh, and we did a video on it. All right. And that has its own cameo.
I'm in it. Did you see it? Did you get it? Yeah, I got it. Nice hell yeah. So check out that we've got a video on the biggest cameo. It's very relevant. Yeah, it really is. Yeah. I mean, first, if we could talk about Henry Cavill. So he's been long-roomed as the new Wolverine or people wanted him to be a fan, fast him. So they got him in. Yeah. That's a bit of fun. Yeah. It's going to the first cameo I wanted to talk about was the ones. So now it's the second.
Well, is the one that they probably shouldn't have spoiled because it like removes. Yeah, it removes the kind of the emotional resonance of the movie. There's a roomful of like heroes from heroes of old from the old Fox universe or whatever. And the last reveal is Daphne King. So X 23 from the movie Logan. I would have I would have loved that if I didn't know that. But so Kevin Feige said that he did that because Daphne King wanted to go to the the premiere.
And then no one would have thought no, she could have just been like, yeah, remember I was in Logan. I'm here to support Hugh Jackman and say hello to Hugh Jackman. Jake Lloyd went to the attack of the clones. Premiac probably. Yeah. And then they're like, it's not even in that movie. Then they're like, we thought about it. It's not a be a pretty good idea. People would see this. Also, yeah, like speaking of plot wise and how
kind of weak this is. Yeah. Wolverine has exactly the same character arc as he did in Logan. He's a he's a you know, he's quit the biz and he had all his friends are dead. And he doesn't believe he can be a hero anymore. And then X 23 shows up and it's like, no, I believe in you. She's like, okay, well then it's literally the same with both the same characters and the same. She literally says to him, listen, last time we did this, you said you didn't want to do it,
but then you did do it. Yeah. And look, I know it's not literally the same character, although it's both literally the same. It could be the same. It could literally be because the Logan guy is in a different universe than the mainline. So it could be the mainline. It doesn't matter. But it's the fact that it's just like it weakens the whole thing that he is just
going through the same arc. Yeah. I think I think maybe there was a point at which and you've mentioned this before like that maybe they were just going to use Logan from the movie Logan. It wouldn't surprise me if somewhere along the line they thought, what if Deadpool kidnaps Logan from the first scene in Logan and then he has a character arc where he learns to go get get rid of his you know, banish his past and become a better
person. And then at the end of Deadpool and Wolverine, he gets his memory wiped and then he gets put back at the start of the movie Logan and then he's bitter and broken again and then he has the arc again. That would be kind of funny. Yeah. I think or you kidnap him to be like, yeah, you're going to do this all again. By the way, or you kidnap him just before he learns his lesson and the lead learns a lesson in Deadpool's universe and then he puts him back because I learned my lesson
in another universe actually. That's right. Yeah. So again, well, well, my I think my initial idea was that you have Logan be actually Hugh Jackman and it's Deadpool's ragging Hugh Jackman. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. That is. And he puts him through the the X bed. Doesn't happen in a movie maybe. Probably. Yeah. I feel like it's in like the three amicus. Oh, I was going to say no, it's it happened in the Guardians of the Galaxy, Chris,
especially like Kevin Bacon. Yeah. That's sort of the side. Yeah. But different. My did was better. It is better. It is better. It is better in first. Yeah. Um, speaking of. Okay. So I was going to say, like I think also a lot of Wolverine is in this is him standing behind Deadpool as Deadpool, which is like runs. Yeah, it is. Yeah. It's not super Wolverine heavy. No. Yeah. No. No. Anyway, do you like his little costume? I did like his little
costume. Yeah. And we're still talking cameos. Yeah. Okay. So cameos. Johnny Storm. Johnny Storm. Bit of fun. Bit of fun. Bit of fun. I knew Johnny Storm. Yeah. I know we all knew it. I knew it. I knew it first. Yeah. Yeah. I was Chris Evans for those if you're listening. It comes back. And I think, yeah, I think we talked about this in the video, but it would it would have been more surprising if Chris Evans didn't turn up in like free guy. Yeah. True. Yes. Yeah. Exactly right.
Yeah. But I get that's the 2005 Fantastic Four Johnny Storm. Yeah. Okay. The the super team that Deadpool forms. So it's Jennifer Garner as a lecturer from the movie, Electro and Deadpool. And I maintain a dead episode. I maintain they went to Ben Affleck and they couldn't get him. So they went to her initially. I thought when you said that they went to Ben Affleck for permission to use the joke. That's what I thought you quit. Oh, one of the times I laugh. That's a great
joke. Where where Deadpool learned the dead devil has died in this universe and he goes, I'm so sorry if you lost in Jennifer Garner's life. It's fine. Because I've already realized that's fine. That's a fun mean joke. Yeah. Quite liked it. She's good. Yeah. I think so too. Yeah. Yeah. She's still got the moves from Alias. Got it all. And then of course we've got Blade. Yeah. Didn't see that one coming. That was fun. Wesley Snider. I don't know whether I'd heard
that because I feel like I heard a hundred cameo rumors. Yeah. And maybe I'm just desensitized to cameos but I'm not like whoa. Any more. I think there should have been more cameo. I agree. I think they should have got Anna Pacquan but it's not Rogue. It's her character from the movie The Piano. Sure. I think they should have all been fake. It would have been the Michael B. Jordan Michael Jordan from Space Jam Lake. You get one of the ash mulls and you think it's going to be
ice man but then it turns out that's the other ash more and it's awesome. James Gunwood allowed that. It'd be fine. I did a Greenland joke in the last one. Exactly. Who else was on that team? Gambit. Gambit. Channing Tatum. Yeah. I think people like, oh, oh, actually death of cinema because actually he wasn't even come. Yeah, but it's funny. And they say that in the thing as well because he's like, I don't think I've ever been in a really universe. Which is true. Yeah.
Supposed to be Gambit. So you may have seen this but when they did the cameo reveals at S.D.C.C. Channing Tatum was wearing the same t-shirt that he was wearing in 2015. It's a Gambit t-shirt. Oh, really? He was wearing when it was maybe an S.D. He was going to do it like in years and years ago. Yeah. I like his accent. Actually, one of the jokes that I like was his dialect coach, the dead pull ask is if he's dialect coaches the minions or something like that. He's doing a terrible
offense. Oh, but then speaking of just their group fight sequence was not very exciting. No, no, no, no, no. Very, very nice. There was a lot of that speaking of that one and the sequence where dead pull and Wolverine fight the dead pull core. Yeah. Just walking it, just running and stabbing. Not not interesting. Somebody pointed this out and was really obvious once it was pointed out. There's a moment where dead pull and Wolverine fight their way through a bus and then they leap
out the front window. Yeah. And then Wolverine is just he's just a CGI guy for like 10 seconds, doing like an idol animation. Right. We're terrible. But I like the mask. Yeah, well, the mask comes on just before. Yeah. I mean, we see the brown costume in this. I do prefer the brown costume. Yeah. Yeah. Oh, yeah. So we got it. We got an agent of apocalypse, Wolverine. We got a patch Wolverine. Yep. We got the one on the cross. And one risk crucified Wolverine. Yeah.
I think there's another one in there. There's tiny little Wolverine. Comic accurate Wolverine. Yeah. Someone I should look. There's another one. Hey, we missed also in the came over here. The skeleton Wolverine, of course. Yes. Logan. Yeah. And then all the dead pulls I was kind of not super fast. Now it's been confirmed the lady dead pool is. Yeah. They're like lively. Like lively. Matthew McConaughey's in there. There's a few others. Someone's the voice of
head pool that I should know. I saw the voice of that. And I can't remember who the voice was. But I went, oh, yeah, Deadpool voice. Oh, there's, oh, it's Nathan Phillian. There you go. Okay. Oh, yeah. And there's hand some dead pool. Nice pool. Yes. Right. That's the joke that I like. He does a fourth wall break when he says the proposal. Oh, yeah. And then I that joke. I liked that was that was a that was a good joke. It's a good job. Did you like it? The end
because Wolverine's like, I'm going out of my own. I'm doing my own thing now. And then Deadpool invites him back and he to live with him or whatever. I feel like this does. I thought we're going to kiss. Why? Why not? Let's do it. Because it was like it was like a like a before you go turn around and then they were going to kiss what they didn't. Yeah. I think we're onwards. Yeah. I think we've already seen some like YouTube thumbnails that are like men are back and men
have ruling the MCU. Deadpool is not straight. Like, I mean, it's fairly obvious from this movie, but also like in the comic book and the previous movies and the previous movies, but yeah. And Hugh Jackman, he's I thought they're like, I thought like, is he not going to take his shirt off? Did he get ripped for no reason? But then he's then he was shirt off with a mask and I'm like, you can do that with anybody. But then he was shirt off mask off. He's big. He's big and huge.
He's big and huge. And again, that thing of like well, look, the whole the time rep is going to destroy the entire universe and less, but even if you if you try to stop it, you will one personal die. But two people live fine. It's the guy in the galaxy thing. Yeah, you're all hold hands. Yeah, that's right. It's not going to kill us or whatever. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, wait. Yeah, wait, source. I think Hugh Jackman's going to do this again. I mean, there's a joke
that like they're going to make him do it till he's 90. Yeah, I think he's going to go through the multiverse saga. Oh, at least, yeah, at least secret was. Yeah, because there is no indication in this maybe other than X 23 who might stay. Yeah, this doesn't hint towards any extra and shit. In fact, if I would if I were to, has it a guess, I'm going to say that they will recast Wolverine by secret wars. Okay. And then they'll do the handshake. Oh, cross-talk.
Passing of the touch because that's the only way you'll be able to do it is if you go that's the only way an audience will accept it is if you have old Wolverine go, I like this guy. He's the new guy. Good job, kid. Good job, kid. You're as good a Wolverine as I am. If not better. That's right. Not better. I got some some review. See you Mason. Go on from Twitter. Oh, yeah. Jonathan, he says new Deadpool, new Deadpool then. I think I hated it.
I'm mostly hollow, especially compared to the first two cameos that require knowledge of real life stuff like it's a Kevin Smith movie. Terrible action and not really very funny. Was movie ever. But Russell Michael said, oh, no, he said he got, no, he went robot dreams was wonderful and sad and sweet. Lots of emotion with no dialogue. Best movie ever. Oh, I didn't really like. We should watch robot dreams. Apparently it's really good. It's robot dreams. I think it's on Netflix or
something. It looks fun and French or something. Yeah. Yolkman says, or Deadpool or Wolverine and Midnight screening thought it was all right. Fun action and chemistry, however, it was very evident that they rushed it out due to the strike. Still, best movie ever. Don't regret seeing it. John Paul says, just got out of Deadpool and Wolverine. I laughed. I cried and I laughed along to songs. I'm not going to sing in a movie theater. I'm not a psycho. So it gets a best movie ever
rating. Nate Harris says, one of those for Deadpool, surprise they acknowledged fan four stick in the credits. They did, didn't they? But they made me cry that one multi-billion dollar company bought another multi-billion dollar company. And Dewey Boyman says, might be the most self-indulgent movie ever made and God bless them for it. Best movie ever. What's interesting is the reviews of this from our listeners, from just general population on Twitter and professional critics and all sorts,
they've been all over the place and all of them seem at least somewhat valid. Yes, somebody will be like, this is the death of cinema. I'm like, to one degree or another, this is the death of cinema. But somebody will, I got a blast. I'm like, you should have a blast. Yeah. That's what, you know, this isn't the end of the world. No, absolutely. It's not. They will be more of these forever. It's got an 80% on Rontomo as a recording and it's got 10,000 plus certified audience
reviews that are sitting at 97%. So yeah, I think generally, yeah, the reception to this has been very positive. I think this over time, this will kind of spider my, spider man, no way home kind of decrease. Yeah. When you don't have that kind of the surprise of it when you're not sitting in a theater. Yeah. When you know, you know, kind of what's coming, I think. I know I had some criticism of
no way home at the time again for script reasons. Yeah. But again, it didn't, it doesn't feel like that's as relevant in when it's making jokes about a universe where the script has never been important. Or the continuity has never been important. Absolutely. Yeah. So that's Deadpool Mason. Deadpool. He'll be back in another movie. He'll be like, I can't even swear here. I'm F and I'm Jeff. I want to use the F and I'm in the PJT. But somebody else used it. So I can't say it.
I'll say it. Yeah. The Guardians of the Galaxy 3 F bomb. That's one of the best uses of it. Incredible. Yeah. Still good. I think it was improv. I don't know. Or like James gun like through it to Chris Pratt. That's great. It's incredible. Yeah. It's good. Yeah. Because you look at that. You look at the X-Men cross the road movie. Yeah. For aliens. That F bomb is just, God. It's a great place to put it. Yeah. Anyways, should we move it along? Let's move it along
to what we read. Yeah. What we gonna read? Movies are back, baby. Movies are back. I'm doing nothing. I'm braille academies back. I haven't had any of it yet. Okay. Yeah. Yeah. Oh, the ride. That's exciting. Okay. Check that out. Oh, well, I would have watched that. How do I know? Well, you're busy. I was busy watching alien movies. I was watching a bunch of alien movies, but I also watched the Ministry of Unjentalmanly War. And what did you think? It's
pretty fun. Yeah, it's fun. Yeah. You also watched it then. I've watched it a while back. Oh, interesting. Okay. It's no Quentin Tarantino's in Glorious Basis. No, but it's trying very hard to be, but also be not. I wouldn't say family friendly, but like more broadly appealing, I think than that. You get a couple of colorful characters. Just some accents and some shot guys. Yeah. I think the movie also gets less interesting as it goes along. I agree. As it goes along,
but I would say a bunch of action sequences are pretty solid. We've got some some espionage. I mean, speaking of Inglorious Basis, there's even a scene where one of the characters reveals themselves to be not a German by there like a like a like a a slight slip of the tongue. She says that all really something like that. I'll allow the scene in in Glorious Basis where he says the three. Big glasses. Yeah, yeah, yeah. That's good stuff. Anyway, you didn't mind it though.
Didn't mind it. Yeah, I didn't mind it. Yeah, I didn't mind it. That's what Henry Golding was good. He's good. Yeah. Big Jack Reaches in it. Big Jack Reaches. Big Jack Reaches. That's right. That's right. And Henry Cavill. I'm a character who's wearing a modern jacket. Oh my god. I could buy that. I could get that modern jacket. You got off from Universal Works as well. Did he really? Yeah. Um, I went to Minotaur. Minotaur comics in Melbourne. And I met Nathan. Nathan
Drake. I met Nathan Drake. I'm charted. Were you having some sort of brain issues? Tom Horns Nathan Drake. He said, I know Nathan Drake. Do you like my Henley? I said, yeah, it's good. You're so wearing an Henley. I was wearing a Henley. I was like, no, I was wearing a big raincoat. You'd look at it in an Henley. Shut up idiot. I'm like, what? What? What? What are you saying to me? And then he went to... You're absolute bird.
And then he went into a third person mode. He crashed behind the desk. So he could shot a bit. No, I met Nathan who worked there who was a fan of the show. It was lovely. And yeah, but I... That's the first reaction we've ever got from anybody who works at Minotaur comics. Yeah. I'd been there in ages. I've shopped there for years and nobody ever says anything. He said he met you or saw you once, maybe another time. Interesting, I guess.
I just mean not even like... Not even... What do you want from people? No, we think you're a big shop. James, we've talked to us in the past. I don't mean because as a person who hosts a podcast, I just mean you could buy anything from a comic book shop, and it can be the craziest thing in the world and they will never mention it because they don't
want to engage with their customers. And rightly so. Anyway, I bought a bunch of comics, some stuff from my son and whatever, but the one that I'm starting reading is Batman Fortress. Okay. Where there's a blackout in Gotham City and Batman's like, this is bad. I turned by Gary Witter who worked on a bunch of stuff including Rogue One. And video game stuff, didn't you? He does video game stuff, but I think he does some... Yeah, I think it's on kind of funny occasionally or he was at least.
But then Batman's like, what else is going on? And then he realizes that actually know the whole world is experiencing a blackout and Superman is gone. And that's about as far as I've gotten. So far. Anyway, I'm enjoying it as of so far. But yeah, that's what I've been reading. Gary Witter was the editor and chief of both the UK and US versions of PC Game of Magazine and a contributor to the Game of Magazine ace. That's where I know him from.
You were right. I know things. I was about to make fun of you. I mean, I still can't. It's not for that. That's true. You can if you want. And those are the things we've been reading and watching and doing and listening. Ah, next week as mentioned, we're going to do the movie Trap and we're both going to watch... The new M Night Shyamalan movie has got Josh Hartnett. Correct. And we're both going to also watch Rebel Moon Part. We're not going to do that. I'm never going to do that.
We're probably going to watch some of umbrella Academy, which is a show we do like in its wrapping up. That's right. Will we do a whole episode on it? I don't know. Is it, is it, it's not week to week? They put the whole season up. Oh, that's a great question. Thank you. I asked good questions. I should bring me to Hollywood and I can ask all sorts of questions. Like, hey, Witchowski, what did you do that thing? I said about the Matrix two years after it came out. That's a good question.
Hey, hey, hey, give me money. I could say. Yeah. Give me money. I'd love some money. I'd love some money. Thank you, Hollywood. Oh, wait, is this not out yet? It says it's out August 8th, but I swear I swear. Change it isn't August 8th yet. No. Maybe it's not out. So I guess it's out a different time. It's out in 2019. Correct. That was the same year as Avengers Endgame. Correct. Yeah. It's out August 8th, which is... I don't know what I'm doing. It's not out. It's not out.
It's not out. Don't email me. Yeah. All right. Send James Little in my next segment, Mason. Yes. It's letters. Yeah. It's the letters theme. The classic one was the letters. Oh, letters. We love you. The letters. They're only a take my way. We gotta hear right now. We're gonna do letters. Wow. Hugh Jackman and... Whoops. It's a nanoV movies video auto plane. I'll take a... Oh, yeah. I clicked on the coming soon. That's why I did a little...
Adelaide. Hugh Jackman and Ron Reynolds were on chicken shop days. They did so many interviews. My YouTube feed is just... And based on the outfits they were wearing, they did like a hundred in a day. Yeah. Crazy. That... I haven't watched the chicken shop one, but I did watch the Hot Wings Hot Wands one. And it was great. It was just watching Hugh Jackman just lose his mind. Now, so he is the thing as well. When I watch one of those, I'm always like, or are they acting?
But he looked like he was dying. He did. I mean, he was sweating and bleeding from his eyes. That's true. Yeah. Let me ask you this, James. Some people say... Because I watched a YouTube video recently, and they were talking about how they... Apparently, Hot Wands is owned by BuzzFeed, and they're trying to sell it. You say this? Just Hot Wands, or the whole thing. Just Hot Wands. Yeah, okay. First, we face Pratchett. Yeah, yeah. And apparently, it's there, you know, they're not selling it yet.
And it's not because... I think it's some people are like, well, because, you know, it's so tight to shorn evidence and so, etc. Yeah, he has to go with... He has to go with it. He's the question. Yeah. So one question that came up, a lot of people's low stakes conspiracy theory is that the Wings on Hot Wands, the sources on Hot Wands used to be hotter, but now they're not. Because people used to tap out, and now they don't. Yeah. What do you think? Well, that's a good question, Mason.
That's a great... I mean, there is the theory that the last one isn't as hot. Oh, no, yeah. The previous one? Yeah, yeah. Well, then people's taste buds are dead by then. Yeah, I don't know. I honestly don't know. I mean, I know, like, DJ Khaled tapped out, and there were like two Wings in. He taps out of all sorts of stuff as far as you know. I've heard some stuff that he will not do... That's right. For strange reasons. But just do it, man. What are you doing? But also, I think also have...
People now have knowledge of it. So you've got wind. And you... Like, if I did it, which I would... Why would never happen? You've got a million followers. Oh, yeah. I've got a million subscribers. Yeah, and that translates to a million views of video. But... But I would just do it. Yeah. I would just power through. Yeah, I think it's two things. I think they are exactly as hot. I think that one is absolutely right. People know what they're getting into.
Yeah. And also a lot of celebrities have celebrity friends who've also been on and they say now, remember. And their family tells them about that. Yeah, family tells about the kids telling about it. And there's the expectation that they'll finish it. And they'll say, remember to do this. And you know, drink the milk and whatever. Yeah. And, you know, and they'll also... I think maybe in the previous versions, the early seasons, people are like, oh, it's a YouTube show. Who's going to watch it?
Yeah, who gets. And they'll be willing to just tap out. But now everybody knows. Yeah. Millions of people will see it. And they'll see you embarrassed if you... And I think the second thing is that the show's producers have gotten better at pacing out the questions. Yeah, okay. Because remember in the early seasons, there would be like long elaborate questions and they would have follow-ups. And sometimes somebody would tell a story and they would animate the story. Oh, yeah.
And I think what has happened in... What happened in earlier seasons is they asked these long elaborate questions. And the celebrities would be like, man, we've been here 30 minutes and I've only done three. Yeah. How long is this going to go? And that would give up. But I think now a lot of the questions, while they're still good, a lot of them are kind of... They're short and sharp. Yeah, they're gussied up. Yes or no? What's the best kind of thing you got in that town you're from?
Exactly. Yeah. What do you think? Is it this or this? And they can say one or all the other. Absolutely. Have to think about it too hard. They say one bit and half an hour. And they elaborate and they can go. And they just go, well, we're 10 minutes in and we've done half of them. Yeah. You know, that sort of thing. So I think that's it. I think you're probably right. Yeah. I mean, the format now is so tight. You know, like it's real... And you've seen...
I mean, so many people have tried to replicate it. It's like killing nine ducks and answering questions while eating a beach ball. While struggling at duck. While eating a beach ball and struggling at duck. It's actually hard to answer this question. We're not meeting this beach ball. And this duck keeps snapping at me. I mean, just keep trying to kill the duck you. You? Who are we talking about? Do you say you? Yeah, you. You're great. No, you jackman. Oh, we can't use...
Yeah, because he's in the movie. He's in the movie we're talking about, yeah. I don't actually like killing this duck. Well, you everybody kills all the ducks. Yeah, that's right. There's a dead duck a question. Only DJ Khaled didn't kill all the ducks. But there's a lot of things he doesn't do. Yeah, a lot of things he doesn't do when he should do. Anyways, this is the lettuce segment of the show. It is the lettuce segment, yeah. We're nine minutes into it.
But if you do want to reach the show, you can hashtag weekly platypod.com Twitter. Right. Here's an email from Paul. Yes. Weekly platypod.com. Thank you. Based on an email from Paul. Here's an email from Paul. Keep a brief. Coi. How do you make this? This is Coi coming at you live from Kansas. Like the famous Kansas Coi. Yeah, man. Currently, I have tickets to purchase for Deadpool and Wolverine. Must be nice. I'd like to say what debauchery in shenanigans ensue.
Relatedly, I have a question for both of you regarding team up projects. Like we've seen with Deadpool and Wolverine falcon the Linda soldier and amon. And the last, are there any superhero jurors that you'd like to see paired in a film or show that focuses equal time on both characters? For me, I would love a gambit and rogue film. Oh, yeah. A highly-quinn and poison ivy film. Oh, yeah. Let me have a show, right? But I like... Who's to Golden Blue Battle is the first one that I ever do?
I like odd combinations of characters. Yes. Like to me, it's always the... Like my favorite sort of show is when it's, you know, there'll be an A and a B team. There'll be like, you know, these two characters are like... Like on Brooklyn 9.9. Yeah. It was always Andy Sandberg and the other guy. Yeah. And then it was the other two. Yes. But then when they switch it up, you know, I like... It was a bit of fun. It's a bit of fun. You like them. These guys don't normally... This doesn't.
Captain Holt's not going to like this. Exactly. But then he does like it. And he died. Yeah, he died. That's that. Yeah, it's no good. Yeah. Ah, so who sort of fits that criteria? I mean, again, like for me, it was just Booster Goblin. Obviously, I've got Blue Battle, yeah. But yeah, I agree. Of what's Odd Couples, right? It's Odd Couples, that's what I want on Odd Couples, yeah. Yeah. Oh, God. Do you talk in superhero movies or just anything? Anything's too broad. We die here in this room.
Yeah, I think it's too soon to be a certain thing. I'm trying to think of a single one. No, you're right. Superman and I would love Superman and Guy Gardner. I know we're going to do that in Superman Legacy, but I think that would work totally... I mean, they're both in that movie. No, both in that movie, so spin it off, maybe. I don't know, just a, you know, they could learn a little bit from each other. Absolutely. Ah, let me... I'm just typing in Marvel characters. Okay, great. So we got...
Terrific. You know, what if the whole team dealt with... Bigger Thor. Bigger Thor. Jane Foster. Yeah, great. Terrific. Really good. I think this isn't really interesting. X-Men combos you can do. You know what I've always liked? Spider-Man... Oh, we did it. It's what I say, Spider-Man, Dr. Strange. Punish a Dr. Strange. That's a good one. Yep, my heart. Completely different. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Ethos. Yeah. What else, Mason? Hulk and a redder Hulk. Not too red. No. No. I like like...
You know, like a John Constantine Batman is fun. Yeah, I mean, that works similarly to Dr. Strange. Yeah, Punisher. A magic guy in a normal guy. Magic guy in a normal guy who's like, why is this? I hate this. Why is this? Tell me why this door won't open. Yeah. Well, you shot it with all those bullets, Frank. That's why. And I'm trying to use magic but there's too many bullets. Yeah, absolutely. You know, you feel like a blade Spider-Man. You know what I mean?
I mean, I know a deadpool Spider-Man, that's obvious, but that would be... They're a good combo. Yeah. I guess the instinct is always to do deadpool somebody because it's deadpools the wackiest option. Deadpool King Go. Deadpool King Go. Deadpool The Wasp. Deadpool Miss Marvel. Deadpool In The Red Skull. Sure. Going a Nazi adventure. Yeah, sure. Yeah. You did not see this coming. Oh, yeah, that'd be the stagline, yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. What about different clones of Spider-Man all teaming up?
Not a lot, man. Ben Riley. No. Another guy. Another guy. That sounds bad. What about Kang and a different Kang? Kang and a different Kang? Kang. Hmm, folks email him with some odd... Some odd duos he'd like to say. Venom and a red of Venom. So they team up. There wouldn't be enemies anymore. Yeah, enemies tell others trope. Okay, exactly. Yeah, really good. Really good. Really good. God. Oh, man. Submariner and Sandman. The wetest guy in the driest guy. God. What makes dry? Yeah, let's try.
It could be the Eric Banner. It could be the third in his trilogy. Yeah. The dry, the wet. That's right. The wet on the dry. Yeah. Cool. I like that question. It's a shame we didn't have good answers. Well, we never do. No. This one's from Matthew McQuinn who says, I hope you... Oh, when you come to Disgust Deadpool and Wolverine, you go into the marketing because I have seen every single penny of it. Haven't seen a film push their heart in years. I mean, yeah, we just did talk about that.
It's everywhere. They're on every YouTube show that I've subscribed to or even recommended. A big billboard on Swan Street and Richmond. Is it really Deadpool and Wolverine? It's normally a car or a football or a vodka or something. I wouldn't be surprised if this was like a $300 million movie with all the marketing. Now, what are the previous Deadpool movies? It might have been two when they did the home media release.
Do you remember when they changed all the box art for a bunch of Fox products? No. Fox. That's fun, though. So they're all Deadpool's Deadpool, but it's some, you know, a serious thing. But he's Deadpool's on the cover, you know? It's fun. Yeah, it is what kind of Fox products are you talking about? Like they're, dang, I'm off. I'll bloody find it. Like TV shows and shit. Yeah, like whatever their box is. And then they did the Fred Savage Christmas special.
Yeah, hang on Deadpool. David A. Cover. Complete collection. It's on Reddit, complete collection of Deadpool's theme, Blue Ray Slip covers. So the movies themselves were the same. So we got, we got, that's fun. Yeah, you got Predator C's, I'm Predator. I do get that. I'm an Adler, I don't know. Edward Sissahands is on this Assassin's Creed. That's a bad movie. How do you get there? My cousin Vinny. How do you get there? I died at Photoshop. I think Fight Club. How do you get there?
Probably because of Photoshop. How do you get there? Photoshop. Good and the bad. The ugly office space. How do you get there? A question note guy. How do you get there? Probably photo shop. Any others? Oh, I got a few more. Yeah. This is from Michael. Good question though. Yes, they've, they've, they've been everywhere. Hey, Jens, you, you answered this before, but I want to get a definitive ranking here.
Hey, Jens, Wolverine has the most distinct hairstyles in comics and I was wondering if you guys had a favorite and least favorite, and all the hairstyles Hugh Jackman has sported during his time as the character. Old man, Wigs, Hobo, Hair and Shaved Heds included. Not a lot keep it that would work. Mm. Um, I mean, I like, I think the Wolverine is probably, you know, it's, it's Wolverine S, but it's not like crazy.
Yeah, I don't think that, I don't think that Deadpool and Wolverine Hair is particularly good. The current one. It's all right. Now there is his X-Men one hair, right? No. Two is pretty good. Three is too big. Mm. I don't like the origins one. I think it's too long. Yeah. It's too long, Mason. Not a mind it. Yeah. And the logo one isn't just isn't. But he's got that nice beard going. Yeah, but then they cut in the mutton chops. Oh, yeah.
To him. Yeah. So I would say probably the Wolverine or X-Men too. Nice. Any objection? Or love to the Wolverine. That's always good. That's great. That's true, which is all was pretty good. Yeah, it's pretty good. I've got a tweet here. It says from Jay who says an idea for a podcast. Movies where the audience grow on Rotten Tomatoes is way off. Okay. The Flash has an eight on Rotten Tomatoes. Black Adam, I think. It just says black Adam. I don't know about that.
Fell asleep, probably, while he was writing that. I think that could be fun. Yeah, I wouldn't mind doing that. I mean, I know like, Dile of Destiny got like a very high Rotten Tomatoes and people hate that movie. So yeah. And we could just, we could really kick those critics, you know? Oh, my God. Which we're not. We're different. We're different somehow. There's somehow different. And we know it. That's right. We've never had one of those hats with the little, little card that says press in it.
Yeah. But we have one of those. I've never bothered to submit to Rotten Tomatoes because I heard you got to do it a certain way. And then you got to put in a certain number of views. And I'm like, I'm not doing that. You then have to do it every week as well. I mean, I know we do review things every week, but then you want to put it in a line. I don't want to do an additional like. Yeah, right? Yeah. I don't know.
I've never gone to Rotten Tomatoes, seen a review, and then clicked on that review and read the review. Like, I do read reviews and watch reviews, but I don't do it through Rotten Tomatoes. They should, somebody should subscribe for us and transcribe our reviews onto a Rotten Tomatoes review. So just, just, just, just, just, just, just, I don't want to be on there. I don't want to get, I don't want to fucking smoke. I don't want it Mason. Leave me alone. Okay. Here's an email, James.
Okay. I want to more and more from Jack. Jack. Hi, James, I'm Mason. Hi, Jack. I'm from Edinburgh, Scotland. I've been listening to the pot for 10 years now. That's too long. I started when I was 14, still in school, and I'm still studying now. Why do people keep saying that? I don't know, 2024 now. That to have my first solo exhibition featuring my comic work. Wow. That's right. The exhibition will be on whilst James is in town for the Edinburgh live show. Oh, yeah, really?
So you could check it out, maybe. Where is it? I'll tell you in a second. Your boys will get my love of comics alive over the past 10 years, and some credit has to go to you both. Does anybody mean that? Love what you guys do so much so that the comic might feature a little weekly planet reference. Also, if any other Scottish great mates fancy checking out or run from August the 1st to September the 28th, it's called Plasticine Cowboy, a comic made entirely of Plasticine. So here it is.
Here's a little poster. Oh, that's cool. Okay, so it's at. It's first of August the 28th September 2024 free exhibition at, I think it's called out of the blueprint. Out of the blue drill hall. The drill hall 32, 36 Dalmini Street, Leith Edinburgh, EH68RG. Just in case you needed the postal code. I cannot promise that I will be there, but that is awesome. I hope everybody goes. It's in the world. I can believe it. Hmm. Well, that's so cool. I double agree. Well, I can't believe it.
I don't double agree. Wow. I don't have to triple agree on your behalf. I don't want you to do that. Too, but too late. I guess it is a bit too late. Yes. So, wow, there you go. What great times and emails and tweets that we get. I agree. And let's have enough podcasts. Okay. We both had enough podcasts. We both had enough podcasts. And I guarantee the listeners have had enough podcasts. No, they are. Folks, thank you so much for listening. We absolutely appreciate it.

Yeah, the twist is there's no trap. It's not a trap. Oh, so that guy was lying. Yeah, he was lying. The twist is that guy's a liar. Yeah. And he made Josh Hartnett all upset. He made Josh Hartnett run around a stadium. I never got an upset serial killer. Why don't you make me saw a upset?
