One of the things that I did a bonus training on today in my Omni VIP program . They get all the monthly program access , but they also get two trainings a month that you can't buy like they get them , and then a program-wide Q&A , and then we do a challenge at the end of every month , and I think this is important for a couple reasons .

Number one most people probably haven't visited their YouTube channel more than a handful of times in 2023 .

And I think it's really important to update your channel , to update how your channel looks , make sure that your description is right , make sure that the description that you're putting on all your videos , which hopefully you're putting your lead magnets and your podcast link and all of those things on every single video and along with what you do and how you serve

for your audience , because that's additional SEO that can be searched .

However , I think most of us maybe set up our YouTube and maybe never went back and looked at it or don't look at it often enough , and there's a couple things that I think you should be really well aware of and consistently updating , just like you do your bio on Instagram or Facebook or TikTok right , making sure they're always in alignment with what you're

doing . They're very congruent across the board . Number one is your YouTube cover photo . Now , your YouTube cover photo is a kind of a funky size , and I will tell you right now but it does not have a right size .

For that I created a template for my program members , because I think it's really important to like have the size , because with YouTube , you have to have the right size for mobile , the right size for desktop and the right size for , basically , youtube TV , right and so .

But it's one image , and so how do I put things in this image so that it shows up right , no matter where it's at ? And so that's one of the things that I gave them the task and gave them a template to do today .

So the first thing is make sure that your cover image is updated , and the second thing is make sure that your links , when you go into customize your channel , make sure that all of your links are up to date . Have you changed your Instagram handle ? Have you changed your TikTok handle ? Has the link changed ?

Like making sure that all of those links are still valid , and also that there are no dead links or broken links there , because maybe you had a lead magnet and you changed the link or something or you no longer have that domain Like . These are very , very important things to check on , because what if somebody finds you ? How about , not ?

What if , when someone finds you better , when someone finds you , they're going to want to know how to get more from you . Most people don't connect with you . They might like your stuff and comment on your stuff on YouTube , but they'll go find you somewhere else to connect with you deeper . So the question is are we giving them an opportunity to do that ?

Are we showing them only like the fun shorts , or are we also giving value-based shorts ? Shorts is a great way to really drive traffic to your channel . I mean , it is being pushed out more than anything else . And the second thing I will say to do is drop your RSS feed . If you have a podcast , drop your RSS feed in your YouTube .

If you go under playlists , there should be an option for podcasts . Now there has been an option for podcasts for a while . However , they just started dropping the RSS feed option , so before you could upload your podcast , you had to do it all yourself . Now it will take the cover art for your podcast like whatever your .

You can't change it , but it will upload it automatically the cover art for your podcast , and then , obviously , it's audio . You can go in , however , and update the thumbnail later , add to the description or anything like that that you want to do . So it's not like set and sewn .

You can update a thumbnail just like you can on anything else that you have on your YouTube channel , and that is definitely a project that I'm going to hand off to somebody else . I'm not going to do that . That's a lot of work . I'm at 450 , 60 episodes because I don't know what episode number I'm recording right now , but it's a lot .

So that will be a let me hand this off and let's just do like the last 100 or something like that kind of task , or we're going to do a template and just change the name . I don't know , but it is not a project for today , but I think it's important to note that like this is something that you can really do .

So when I uploaded my RSS feed , like within the first I want to say 24 hours I had almost a thousand views , and then it's just grown from there . I think we're at close to 3000 and two . I think it's been two , two and a half weeks and they all didn't all upload immediately .

I had 400 and some episodes so it did take time , but YouTube is now moving forward , notifying , so I'm getting views on every because it's called views on YouTube . I'm getting views on every single new episode that comes out .

The other thing is is to note that it will not most likely count like so I use Buzz Sprout and so right now YouTube is not counted in my Buzz Sprout stats . So that's something I , if I want to do overall . I would just have to add it right . So I think that is a huge thing .

Just to remember too , that if you're going for listens or downloads or whatever , that your views are not included in that and you'll have to do that yourself .

So another important distinction and note the other thing that again , I see people not taking advantage of is creating playlists , because when you do create playlists , you can change the homepage of your channel , meaning that I can focus on all podcasts going here , which is considered a playlist itself .

Or I can say all visibility videos are going here and they'll be all on the homepage under the visibility section . So setting up playlists are huge , but also YouTube loves when you set up playlists because they will all . It keeps them on YouTube , right ?

So if they're watching something and they automatically go to the next on the playlist , okay , youtube's very happy , right , but it also gets more of your information and more of your knowledge and expertise out to your person . So the moral of this video is don't forget about your YouTube channel .

Update your channel branding , update your channel description , update your video descriptions where needed , and then also focus on shorts and set up playlists . And if you have a podcast , set that up too . I think all these things are going to help your channel grow , especially if you want to ever , if you're ever thinking of monetizing it .

These are all great areas to start in to get that monetization started . I know there are some things that are easier to do now on YouTube to monetize , and then some things are a little bit more difficult , but this could be the start of a great way to maximize on all of that monetization , if you desire .
