One of the hardest things that I finally started talking about more and more probably in the last two years , were my transformations , and I think that sometimes , when we become visible and when we are a leader or the forward-facing face of our business , we sometimes hide and shrink when it comes to the faults and the learning and the failures and the face plants
and all of those things and we forget that they're actually strengths . I'll never remember or never forget , when my husband came to me I don't know , maybe six months ago , and at work they were having everyone read Bernay Brown's Dare to Lead , and he was like you know , it's really cool , because vulnerability isn't a weakness , like it's a strength .
You know , kind of like you say all the time I'm like , yeah , it is . So we still have so many people in our world seeing our vulnerabilities as weaknesses and maybe they do . However , I see other people's vulnerabilities as strength . I see as oh my gosh , you've come so far . Oh my gosh , you were about to kill your business .
Oh my gosh , you know , I used to be afraid to tell that story . That's one of my best live videos ever and it was it is titled the Day I Almost Killed my Business because I was at one of the lowest lows Now . Did I tell it in the moment ? No , absolutely not .
It was about a year later that I told the story , and the reason I could tell the story was because I literally thought I wasn't going to make any money in that month and 12 months later I had made over $250,000 in my business and it was crazy to me that I could have given all that up , all because of one hard moment and the story that I was telling
myself about what that month looked like in that moment . And we again , we forget that , like our authenticity , our vulnerability , our breakdowns , they connect us with other people in a way that nothing else really can .
We give others hope when they see that we've had weak moments , that we've had bad moments , that we've had failure , face plant breakdown moments , almost giving it all up and walk away moments . Right , people understand that feeling because no one's life is perfect , no one's business is perfect .
And when they see that you were at this lowest low in your business and you somehow turned it around , the number one thing they want to know is how'd you do it right ? But also in the aspect that this is proof that I can do it too .
This is proof that I can be at my lowest low that I've ever thought I would be , that I'm literally about to just like burn it all to the ground and I can still turn it around . The point of having an iconic brand is bringing these moments into our business , bringing the transformations , bringing the failures , bringing the relatability to our audience .
They're not always comfortable to talk about and they're not always going to be something that you talk about without any emotion . Matter of fact , there are stories . When I go back and I really get into my story of getting on video , it's very hard not to have like lose a tear .
It's very hard , like when I really think about how I felt in that moment and how no one was helping people that were struggling to get on camera , except people who had been on camera their whole lives and I was like I want somebody just like me . I want somebody who's actually struggled with this to help me .
I don't want somebody who literally came out of the womb with a camera in their face . And so I created what I always wanted and so , of course , telling my stories the time I didn't sell or launch for six months , the time I was burned my business down and walked away and got a nine to five Like .
All of those moments made me who I am and had I decided to give up , it could have been the end of my business , but because I didn't , I'm where I'm at right now , in this moment , and so this is one of the things I am excited to talk about in the program iconic , because we need more of this , we need to talk about this more , we need to share this
more . So many people need to hear your story . They don't even know they need to hear it , but it can change their lives . Like it's just . You know , it's part of us being uncomfortable . Telling that story is going to serve and support someone else so much .
I know that me hearing other people's stories have a lot of mentors who lived in their car , who lost everything , and it's like that Phoenix Rising from the ashes kind of story . And maybe you're thinking well , I don't really have one of those . The thing is , you may not have one yet , but we all have these moments .
When you grow a business , it's not going to be smooth selling . So not that I'm wishing this for you , but there's something in your life that you've overcome and maybe it doesn't seem as dramatic as other people's , but that's okay . It's your story and your audience will connect with that .
The question is , are you willing to share it with them or are you going to keep it to yourself ? Because when you share it with them , that is an unforgettable moment . People are going to rise from hearing that story and that is the start of creating an iconic brand .
