Hello , we are live And I want to talk about something that I think I have been extremely interested in , even if I didn't embody it and follow it , one of my favorite quotes I want to say . This was like the quote in my yearbook Don't get me , don't quote me on this . I think I need to go back and look at my yearbook .
But it is , life is 10% what happens to us and 90% how we react to it . And I think when I first heard this quote , i didn't really understand . I definitely didn't understand like emotional intelligence and perspective and all of those things , but I always liked the thought of it .
And this morning I went on a drive to the chiropractor in my Jeep , with no top and no doors and it was 60 degrees , whereas yesterday it was like 90 something and stifling outside and I froze . It was so cold .
I had my heated seats on , i had the steering wheel on , i had the heat cranked up and I was still freezing And I was miserable and I was telling myself how miserable I was , how cold I was , and I hate being cold . It's like hate being cold , like some people hate being hot , but I'm like you can take some off your hot . I hate being cold .
And so I said , okay , wait a minute , this is , let's shift this a second . Remember when you did an uncomfortable challenge and you purposely got into cold showers , like to make yourself uncomfortable ? What if this is an uncomfortable wind shower ? What if we thought about it like that It's a cold wind shower ?
How can we talk about this uncomfortable action that you're doing here ? And I'm like , okay , okay , perspective change right , like totally this . If I just make this little switch and change my perspective on this , i can make it so much more enjoyable and then also crank up the music and have a party in my car when I'm literally freezing .
I don't even know what the windshield is , or was it windshield or whatever . Even at 61 outside , the sun is not out and you're driving in the wind , but it was cold . Like my legs felt numb , they were so cold . But I had to have that perspective shift right .
And it's like the same thing with how we show up and the things that we do in our business , like , are we showing up because we feel like we have to , or are we showing up with conviction because we care so much about our message and what we do and those people that we can help , serve and support ? Like , do we feel like I have to send out an email ?
or are we going to shift that perspective again and say I know what I bring to the table and I know how many people I can help , so I'm going to keep showing up , regardless whether I get the results I want , regardless whether I get the views I want , regardless , blah , blah , blah , right .
And so when we shift that perspective like the things are truly the way that we think they are right , so we can decide what story to tell ourselves . This morning , i just happened to tell myself that it was an uncomfortable challenge and , yay , i could do hard things , right .
I was talking to somebody else in one of my groups and I said you know , i said every hard thing that we go through , like some things just really suck As a business owner , you got to make hard decisions , you got to , like , do sucky things and it just doesn't feel good .
And there's only one thing that I can ever think of when I have to do these things I'm going to grow through this . This is going to create so much growth for me .
It doesn't feel good and I don't want to deal with difficult situations , but sometimes we have to , and we got to put our big girl panties on and handle it , but we're going to grow through it , and so I want you to think about the perspective shift that you can make in everything you do in your business , and how can you change the way that you think about
things , the things that you hate doing , the things that that you know you feel like you're such a chore . I used to say I have to , and now I say I get to , because it truly is a choice to be a business owner .
Right , we could go work at nine to five , and some people do both , but it truly is a choice to be an entrepreneur , and it's not easy , right , but I get to do all these things that come along with it .
I get to work my business online instead of going to networking events multiple times a week , if that's what you choose to do , i think when we get that shift and we change our perspective , it truly is . Life is 10% what happens to us and 90% how we react to it . So how are you reacting to it ? How are you showing up ?
What is the story you're telling yourself when it comes to how you perceive the things happening around you .
