I think sometimes in life, it's easier to turn around and retreat versus go through the thing that you're going to go through. And so today, I went on the road to Hana and it is in Maui. And it is a really long drive, there's a lot of turns, and one lane bridges, and it's just very, most people can't handle it, right. I mean, they just they do the guided towards that. Okay, so I do the first
part of this, I get to Hana. I'm like, that was nothing like, I learned how to drive on mountains and curves like this, this was nothing It was piece of cake. And then my family were in charge of the directions. And we made a wrong turn, but didn't quite know I made a wrong turn. And so therefore, I ended up on this road, that I had no idea at the time. But when I got home and started looking to see where we were is like one of the top 10 Scariest roads to ever be on.
So if you've ever been to Maui and done this, you know exactly what I'm talking about. But we are like, we have no cell service. Nothing like nothing is working. The GPS on the car is the only thing that's working. And like we we can't, like there's no way to really pull over this road. Like the other road, there were a lot of one lane bridges and a lot of one lane areas. But we're talking it's paved, it's great, right?
This other road, there was dirt, parts of the road, there was gravel, parts of the road, there were very, very, very bumpy paved roads, like it was just horrible. And I was just literally because all of the turns, were like hairpin turns, and you cannot see what's going on. Like around the corner, you have no idea. So I'm just like, I'm going to beat my heart. Like I'm so stressed out this point. And so my husband looks on the GPS on the Jeep. And he's like this, I don't we didn't go the
right way. We should have turned off somewhere. This isn't where we should be. And I'm like, thinking at this point, there's an I cannot imagine going back in is going back through everything we've been through so far. You know, is it worse to do that? Or worse to go through the unknown, right? And I'm telling you, like, I nobody took any pictures. Nobody took any video because I think we were all like stressed to the max. Like, I wish I had content to show you
for this. But all I found was article that it's one of the top 10 scariest, most dangerous roads. And so like, I'm just like, we're committed and my husband's like, we have 72 miles of this. And I'm thinking it's breaking Poway it's like it's an island. We can't have that much like, there can't be that much, right. And so I'm just like, whatever we're committed, we're going to do this. And I would say this was supposed to be they estimated like a five hour trip,
right? Round Trip. Let's even say Let's even say six, right with stopping and looking at things and taking photos, because a lot of the things we just stopped at and we were like on the side of the road, so we didn't like really walk anywhere very far. So anyhow I think it was nine and a half 10 hours is how long it took us to get back. Like legit. I went off the grid today. Like I posted a turtle picture like halfway in the trip, you know, which was still we still had service and stuff
at that point. And then I was driving so I wasn't really checking my phone. I wasn't really paying attention to anything going on online. And then I was just like, oh my god, this is insane. This is insane. Like and so there was a lot of stress. There's a lot of where are we like Eva, keep checking your phone, keep refreshing your phone, like we've got like, we need internet we need to figure out where we're at. We need GPS, we need to get this figured out. And so my husband is like
looking on the map. He's like moving the map around on the on the Jeep on the, you know, the navigation thing. And he's like, I guess this is like never ending I don't know how This is gonna take us. But there was a point where we were like, Okay, do we turn around? And I mean, hindsight, maybe we should have turned around. But I can't imagine going back through we went through and it was like, like, it's almost like worse because I knew what that felt like, right? Like what that was.
And so I'm like, let's just keep going. And also, the funny thing is, is that we saw, like, the ways to get and he said, How do you want to go? Do you want like us to be like on the side of the ocean? Or do you want you to like, be like, on the yellow line, right, like, so I'm driving, I guess I'm red, yellow. Either way, so. So the other the other, like lane of traffic, rather, would be closer to the ocean, right? So it'd be
going the opposite way. And I was like, I want to, like, I don't want to be on the side of the ocean, like, I want to be able to see things. And there'll be a whole lane of traffic over here. And I am thankful for that. Because I don't think I could have done this the opposite direction. So I feel like that was a blessing. But I'm just telling you, like, it was so uncomfortable, it was so hard. And I don't let my husband drive. That's another thing. Because he scares the poop out
of all of us. So we just don't do that. And there were moments where I thought do I just let him drive because this is so stressful, and I'm so freaking out, right? Like, I've never done anything like this before. And I was like, Nope, just push through it, just push through it, you've got this, you've got this, you've got
this. And so I did. And we did end up like, in this beautiful countryside of Maui, where there's cattle and like, how many people see a farm with the ocean down at the bottom, like, there were some beautiful sights that we probably would have never seen if you didn't go that way. I mean, I would find never going that way again in my life. And literally turning around and going back the road that we took to get there versus trying to make this whole circle around
Maui. But the point is, is that a lot of times we want to give up we want to treat and we want to turn back around, right. And the thing is, is that we did it. And I believe that in our business, when we keep going even though it's hard, even though it sucks, even though we literally never know what's going around that next curve, right? We don't know if we're going to collide with something we don't know if something's going to hit us. We don't know if it's going to go uphill
downhill. We don't know if there's going to be something walking across the road there. We don't know if there's going to be like a rock slide, we have no idea. In our business. However, we keep going anyhow, right? We keep going in the direction, not the path of least resistance, right? But the path that is going to lead us to what we want and desire in our business. And so I always try to have takeaways and downloads and I try to process things. And that is my download on my
processing for this trip. That was death defying by all means, and very stressful. And, you know, to know that I have conquered to scariest and most dangerous roads in the United States. I mean, I feel a little I feel really good about that. But I think I would prefer never to do it again. However, the same thing in business, right? We get to say we accomplish something when we keep going
when we don't give up. So the question is, are you going to keep going or are you going to retreat and try to go back the way you came? Because when you keep going? That's where the beauty is. That's where the growth is. That is where you really build that exponential growth that you're going to need to reach all the goals you want in your business.
