One of the things I wanted to make it a priority to talk about during 400 episode week is the future of visibility . And right now , in our world when it comes to marketing , when you go on Facebook or Instagram , even TikTok , even LinkedIn , you're going to see a lot of ads .
You're going to see a lot of conversations about AI , which stands for artificial intelligence , if you weren't aware . And AI has some amazing tools . It has some amazing outcomes , it has some amazing things that we can do with it .
But here's where I see the future of visibility and AI not working well together , and the sad thing is is that I'm actually already seeing this happen and I think this is going to be crucial moving forward , that we make sure that we protect this , one of the reasons that people struggle with getting visible or they want to get visible .
I believe most people want to get visible because they want their message seen and heard , and what will happen when AI is the only voice we hear ?
That's not your voice , and I'm seeing like a mixture of posts from people and you can see that there is one post that is very much written by them and the next post is so over my head and so descriptive , like a novel , that I know that that is not their writing style .
And when AI creates inauthenticity inauthenticity , I can't say it right inauthentic words and messaging , that is when it becomes a problem . One of my favorite quotes I even shared it in a training this week was people do not buy products or services . They buy relationship stories .
In magic , however , those relationships and those stories get to be yours , and those relationships and those stories get to be your words . Now , do I love using AI when I say , oh , I want to say this thing and I don't know how to say it right ? Yes , do I use AI for titles of things and videos , like , is this podcast going to have an AI title ?
Probably I might pick one of them . I might pick some of it . However , no , ai is outlining this podcast . No AI outlines my videos . No AI outlines my short form video . No AI outlines my blog posts , my posts , my anything that I do . It might actually be a more what's the word I'm looking for so you can tell AI didn't do this .
It might actually be run more smooth and I might be able to put it in a better framework and it might be more of a hero's journey if I did it with AI . That's not the point . That's not me and however I may use AI , I will not use it to replace my voice . I will not use it to replace my message .
I will not use it to replace every single word that I want to say . Most of the time when I go in to use AI to write stuff for me , I ended up scrapping it because it sounds nothing like me and , yes , I know that it's getting better and all of these things , but I don't want it to sound like me .
I don't want anybody else to replicate my words and my voice and my feelings and my experiences . So , although I will use it to help me and support me with some things , it's not taking over my content . It's not taking over my videos . It's not taking over my business . I am my business . The people I support are my business .
The people that I'm passionate about helping are my business , not AI . Ai is fun . It is great to play around with .
It's even great to add in a strategy , but if it creates a strategy for you because it can create a strategy , but if it creates a strategy for you to sell something that you've never embodied , you've never done , it's just telling you how to do it and sell it . That is the most inauthentic thing you could possibly do .
You sell and promote something that you say Is your work when it is not . You know , I've had trouble selling things in the past . A lot of it was a mindset shift , but I've also had trouble selling things that I wasn't consistently doing , and so therefore , it was a big reminder to me .
I'm not going to sell this if I'm not doing it , if I'm not embodying it , if I literally just talk the talk and don't walk the walk right Like practice . What you preach and teach , do the things . It is who you be . It's who I be Right . I know that's a weird way to say it , but it is so true .
So the future of visibility really gets to be decided by us , and I don't think video is going away . Sure , there are AI technologies who can literally create a video and make it look like you . Is that authentic ? One of the things that I've always said is just like these podcast episodes are rarely edited .
I might edit out a few things , but they're not produced . The sound is probably not up to perfection . My videos are never going to be overproduced , because that is not relatable , and when we , if we lose that , we're going to lose so much more . So , again , ai can support you . Don't let it be you , don't let it become you .
Show up authentically , show up a hot mess . Show up messing up , making mistakes . Show up messing up , making mistakes .
Use AI when you absolutely need it , but go to your brain , your vault , your knowledge first , because that's always going to serve you more , because you have the experiences , you have the breakdowns , you've had the breakthroughs , you've had the face plants , you've had the comebacks , and that is what your audience wants to hear more than anything .
So use it with caution . Don't let it become you and don't let your voice become the AI voice , because , again , people buy relationships , stories and magic . They're not going to buy that from AI . And this is from someone who has been using AI way before chat GPT showed up . We're talking .
Jarvis whatever it was called came out two and a half years ago , almost three years ago .
So I've been using it for quite a while and I use it when I need it to help me say something a little better or to give me some ideas , but then I take everything else and I run with it , and I want to encourage you and empower you that you have the knowledge that you don't need AI .
Use it for certain circumstances , but don't let it become your whole content strategy .
