I have been at a photo shoot most of the day and getting ready , prepping for a photo shoot . And it's funny because the me like four years ago , maybe even three years ago , would have never gotten a photo shoot . Here's why . Number one I said I built my business with selfies , so why did I need to ? Number two I didn't .
I still , to this day , don't like being the center of attention . It's very hard for me , even though I get on video , even though I'm growing a business . When I'm in , when I put my business hat on and I am there to serve and support , it's a lot easier for me . But standing and smiling for a camera and feeling awkward has never been my cup of tea .
I don't know if anybody else is , but it's just never been my thing . And it's . It was funny because my first photo shoot was from the same person who did my photo shoot today and we were at a selfie museum and she was going around taking pictures . I was like you should just do a package like that .
Can you please just do a package where I can create content and then you just take pictures of me candidly ? And she was like , yeah , of course . And when I made that decision . It was the best decision , first of all because it felt very easy . It felt very flow and just like not like awkward .
Does anybody else like feel awkward when you're in your picture taken ? You know , it's kind of like when everybody sings happy birthday to you it feels awkward , it's just an awkward situation .
And so that is how I really got more comfortable with having my photo taken and understanding the power and the value of photography , versus just if you're watching live , if you're listening to the podcast and putting a phone in front of my face , right Like there's so much power in photography and getting those amazing , artistic , beautiful shots that you may be
able to get something similar on your phone . But there's just like even it's funny because I take selfies the entire time , because I need to look at myself , I need to see what my face is doing , because my face does not do what I want it to do . No-transcript has a mind of its own . I can't help it .
I also blink my eyes about a million times during photo shoots , so I also have that problem .
But like I could take this shot as my phone , as a selfie , at the same time she does , and it's gonna look totally different and I think you know , obviously when I take a selfie I'm holding it in front of my face , but photographers know the angles , like my photographer , shay , today was like doing a million squats , like trying to get the right angle , laying
on the road , you know , and it was just like one of those things that it's made me realize , like I used to say , I don't need photography , I don't need this , I don't need that .
But as we evolve and grow , we realize I mean , I guess I don't need it but I desire it and I think that my business is better for it right Than versus me just taking selfies all the time . Again , nothing wrong with selfies , because I grew my business on selfies . You can absolutely take selfies .
However , if you get an opportunity even to just get headshots with a photographer , do it because it is well worth it . But I you know it makes me think about so many other things in my business that I have , like , had a stance on and I've changed that and a lot of times , you know I said I would never get on video right , never .
Video is never happening for this girl . That's funny because we all know how that story ended and you know , like I would never launch again . I'm not selling , you know .
And then I used to be in people's DMs and now I don't believe in that and it's just , you know , it's just this evolution that happens , that a lot of times you don't know what you don't know until you do know , like , how many people used to send like hey girl messages ?
How many people used to purposely friend people , right , so that you could ask for the sell . Like , all of us have done some things that we have evolved and grown from and hopefully learn from the better and don't do anymore , right .
And I just think it's a beautiful thing that growth , I think it's a beautiful thing to see the trajectory , but you know , we all have to go on that journey , just like mine with photography , just like mine with video and everything else , right . And I also actually , technically , if I go back really far , I also said I would never take a selfie .
So that was probably like 2015 , 2016 .
So there's also that , but like this is why I also never say never anymore , because I'm like , well , right now , in this moment , this is the way I believe , but I could totally grow , I could totally evolve , I could totally like learn something that can change my mind , but for now , this is the way that I feel , and I think sometimes that , even when it
comes to content , even when it comes to having conviction and the things that we believe in , trust me , I used to be very convicted about my selfies , like I don't need photography , I don't need that , right . And so we can feel very convicted about something . It doesn't mean that we're contradicting ourselves . It just means that we're growing .
I don't flip back and forth and say you can only do selfies , you should only do selfies or you should do photography . Oh , now I want to do selfies again . Yes , I do . It's a combination of both .
My photographer , like at this point in my business , isn't like follow me around every single day getting the best shots , so I got to take care of some of that , right ? Yes , it's totally all about growth , totally all about growth . And so it's like where have you said I'm never doing this ? I also said I was never going to hire a coach .
I sent on email about that today , where I like how much mentorship has supported me and served me . I said I would never launch or sell , ask for the sell on a video or anything else . And now I call that inviting and now I teach that . It's just like so many crazy things that I said I would never do . And then I evolved and grew and did them .
It's like baby Chrissy had a lot of thoughts in her head . Baby Chrissy had a lot of misconceptions in her head yes , never say never , life happens for sure . But baby Chrissy had a totally different mindset . And it's funny because someone said something about turning 40 . And I was like I feel like my life didn't even start until I was 40 .
I feel like I grew up so much and I've grown up so much since turning 40 . And it's just like all these things happen and our stances can change and our opinions can change and the things that we believe in can change and evolve and grow .
And there's nothing wrong with that , because growth is beautiful , transformations are beautiful , evolving is beautiful , especially if it helps create a better version of you than you were yesterday or the day before or a year ago or six years ago , whatever that looks like to you .
Be OK with that transformation and that evolving , and open up and understand that we don't know what we don't know until we do , and that's a beautiful thing . And we all get to step in to more of that as we grow and evolve .
