Back when I started my business, I used to see business owners and friends that were close to me give all the time. And I between my business that didn't make much much money and I didn't pay myself at the time. We pretty much lived paycheck to paycheck. And it was very hard to give.

And so I always felt super guilty over that, like, I just had this feeling that I wanted to give but I couldn't write. And even when I worked a nine to five, I didn't donate or give. But I did go and spend time at different locations and volunteer my time. And so that felt better than nothing. I also was going to I was working for a nonprofit, and going to help for this live event that they had.

And I chose not to charge them my hourly rate, right again, just a way of giving back until I could but my goal was always to be able to give without looking at my bank account. And sometimes I think not that it's on purpose or anything like that. But we get to a place that as business owners, we wear many hats, we're very busy. And we don't always remember the things that we set out to do. And sometimes you have to reconnect with our why and the things that we said we wanted to do when we

started this business. And I'll never forget standing on Queen con 2020 stage. And my we were raising money for the Byron Saunders Foundation, which is a local foundation in Columbus, Ohio that feeds people on Thanksgiving Day. And like meals to their house, they don't have to go to like a soup kitchen or anything like that, like they get delivered meals to their house that they can spend it with their family, their loved ones. And I'll never forget

that. My business bestie made a declaration that she would match up to $500 and donate. And I'll never forget being able to just say the same thing. And I didn't think I didn't stress and worry Do I really have that amount of money in my bank account? Do I not have the resources to make that happen? Is that going to affect me am I going to not be able to pay a bill because in the past, that would have been the way that it would have happened. And so it felt so

good. It feels good that last year in July of 2021, I raised almost $6,000 for NC 4k During hundreds of lives in July. This year, we're called it's called Changing Lives in July. And our goal is $10,000. And that feels really, really good. And also I made a declaration if I did not get 100 uncomfortable things done and documented. Like I said I was going to that I will commit to donating $10,000 By the end of 2022. To a charity Yes, it's very stressful. Yes, it's skin in the game. But will

I die if I have to pay that? No. Will be uncomfortable absolutely as it should be. But it feels good to be able to donate and and say things like that and declare things like that without having to stress out, oh my God, what's in my bank account? Or what's not in my bank account? Am I going to not be able to pay a bill? Am I going to have to do this or that? Right? That feels really good. And so I want you to think about how you can give back even if it's only $5 Give

back. You will never regret giving. Do we think it should be an uncomfortable amount? Yes, I do. I think it should stretch you. I think it should make you your heart rate race a little bit. But it should feel you should feel that gratitude. You should feel that giving moment and enjoy it and be so proud of yourself for being able to do something like that no matter the amount because what stretches me may not be possible for you yet. Or maybe you can do

more than me right? So we're all in different areas of Our business or whatever can stretch you can push you $10 $20 committing to reoccurring $25 every month. Think about how can we stretch ourselves to get back.
