How many times . I believe that we as entrepreneurs are so used to go , go , go that we really really struggle with pause . And the problem is when we cannot pause , when we cannot turn things off , when we cannot get away from our desk , we really can lead to burnout .
But also we forget how much that haunts our creativity , it hurts our creativity , it causes our creativity to go stagnant and we're just not the best version of ourselves when we do not take a moment for stillness , for joy , for living our life .
And I got this reminder as we just wrapped up a retreat in Destin and I thought it was the perfect time to talk about that Like seriously . When was the last time that you just sat in stillness , with no devices , no sounds except what's naturally around you , and just took some deep breaths in ?
When was the last time that you just did something out of joy for yourself that had nothing to do with your business and really it was something that completely filled your cup ?
When was the last time that you sat and contemplated about how far you've come , how much you've already accomplished in such a short time , if you really think about it , and when was the last time that you sat down and really thought about how grateful you are for what you do have and for the beauty of the world that you see around you .
I think so many times in business we think it's the next program , it's the next course and , yes , those things do help . However , we just need to sit still sometimes . We just need to slow down for ourselves and breathe . One of the things that I love when I come back from a retreat , which you think , oh well , you did that .
But I mean , yes , I did some reflecting and I did some quiet time , but I also create buffer time in my schedule , and the buffer time is because we need time to process the things that we learn . We need time to process when we go to events . We need to process and really make a plan , not just daydream about it and think about it .
I was like , oh , that was so nice , that felt so good . Okay , let me go back to regular life , but really process it so that we can come to terms and the answers in our own brains .
Because when we're able to come to an answer or an aha or a piece of gold ourselves , we are much more likely to take action on it than even if someone else tells us to do it , we're also more likely to stick with it , and we are going to always struggle getting there if we can't give our minds the opportunity to be quiet for a little bit , if we can't
sit in stillness , if we can't do a little meditation or a gratitude practice . We get to live our lives , we get to find joy . We also get to sit still in the moment and be okay in the stillness and be okay in the quiet without constantly thinking that we have to be doing something to get a result .
There is a time to do something and , yes , there are consistent actions that we should be doing , but there is also a time to sit in stillness and I want you to ask yourself , on today's Monday minute when is the last time you implemented that ? When was the last time that you did that ?
And if it's been a while , or the answer is never how can we start adding that in to our at least weekly routine ? So just take a few minutes , even if it's two minutes , even if it starts out one minute , and you've got to gradually work yourself up , start somewhere , even if it's small , and build on that over and over and over .
