So many people have a strategy , or maybe what I would call a hope strategy , of trying to go viral when it comes to short form video , and I also see a lot of people telling them that they can go viral or they can teach them how to go viral . And here's the thing .
That was one thing when I started my Reels program that I did not wanna do , because you cannot promise virality . You just can't . I mean , it is a hit or miss type of thing .
Sometimes people truly do get lucky when it comes to going viral and , for clarification , the true definition of viral is 10 million plus , and then mini viral is five to 10 times your average views , and so I have never been viral . I've been mini viral multiple times . However , here is the thing that I've seen , especially with those who did go viral .
The majority not everyone , but the majority of people weren't ready .
They had no way to turn those millions of views into something more , like they didn't turn those views necessarily into followers , or they didn't turn those views necessarily into leads or on their email list , like there was so many things missing that they just weren't prepared for and they didn't even have a place to really send them to and definitely wasn't like
pixeled or anything so that they could retarget them . So when you think about virality like that , what's the point ? Right , I would rather have a piece of content video or short form video that converts any day of the over . Going viral . Convert means I take them from a viewer to a follower . It means I take them from a follower to a raving fan .
It means I take them from a raving fan to a client . Like that , to me , are different types of ways that your audience can convert with you .
Right , it doesn't happen overnight always , but the process is to warm that audience up , to pull them in , to hook them in right , and show them what you are about , show them what your expertise is , show them how you can serve and support them .
And so , again , hope strategy , going viral that's pretty much all it typically is , because it's a hope and a dream . And again , you can get lucky and you can potentially go viral and people do , but it's a very , very small percentage , right ? So , instead of focusing on is this gonna be the one , is this gonna be the viral video ?
Is this gonna be the one that makes it ? Focus on the content , focus on knowing what your audience wants and the messaging that you're supporting them with ?
Right , when we can separate that number , even though if we went viral , or many viral , it can be really exciting , don't get me wrong right , but if we can separate that number and focus on the impact , focus on the ability to gain ideal followers , not just anyone , right , I left over 10,000 follower Instagram account because they were no longer ideal people .
The number means nothing to me . Okay , and you know , when you really focus on your visibility and your messaging , you can have a real impact on your followers , and I love a good trend .
