In my business, I have always done things until I didn't have to. And let me explain about this a little bit. When I first started my business, I or one of my first businesses, I started not this business, I worked a full time job. And I had a side hustle, right? Because there was this fear that I couldn't let go of.
And we're going to do air quotes here because we all know this is not after 2020, you know is not true, that I couldn't like go have the guaranteed thing, right? We all know that a nine to five is not a guaranteed thing these days, we understand that now. However, that was the story that I told myself. So therefore it was true. When I started this business, I picked up a part time job. And so in the early stages of business, I had a part time job and I was
running my own company. Early in the stages of my business, I worked way more hours than I wanted. At the time, I told myself that I wanted to work that many hours. But I probably definitely work more hours than I should have. I didn't pay myself at all, at all. Again, I'm not telling you that these are things that you have to do. But I want you to give yourself grace and forgiveness if you are or have went through these things. I said yes, to way too many people, way too many
people. And I said no to myself, way more than I wish I would have, right. I let my health go because I felt deep down inside. And this is again, I'm not telling you to do this, I actually don't advise you to do this. But a 30 minute workout in my mind, I could be making money. Or I could be because I was out hourly back then. So I could be billing a client for 30 minutes versus taking the time to work out. Like I gave myself such anxiety over a 30 minute workout. Like not not healthy at
all right? I did everything myself versus hiring a VA, many layers to that control freak. Nobody can do it as good as I can. Let me tell you the list is long also didn't have the financial means to pay for a VA. So again, stories I told myself, I invested in myself in the most bare minimum ways, like a coach and a very inexpensive program. And obviously this is a very short list. There are way more things that I did that I felt like I had to do until I could
do something different. And here's what I want you to know, during all of these things that I just listed out to you. They're just told you. I couldn't change that. Until this changed up here. I couldn't change my feelings on that until I experienced it and realized I can't have 15 clients 15 One on One clients, I can't this is way too much work, like doing 15 different clients social media content, at least five times a week. I mean, do the math. That's a lot of freaking
content. That's a lot of content. My prices were not where they needed to be. I was working myself to death, I wasn't paying myself, right. And you get to a place in your business where you literally are just like I'm worth more than this. I'm fed up, I'm exhausted. I cannot keep doing this. i When you are at your desk, and I'm at my desk right now. So when you're at your desk and you're literally like I can't even look up, I can't pay attention to my family. I can't do the things
because I'm, I'm so busy. I'm so busy. I couldn't market my business because I couldn't lift my head up long enough for my client work to even be able to do that. And if you've ever felt that, make sure you tell me because it sucks. It sucks. It's hard. It's so hard because we get ourselves in the cycle. And we've say yes to so many people
right note ourselves. So I say yes, there's so many people so then I literally have no time left in the day to work on my business, to market my business to build myself up to do programs to do memberships to do workshops. I I had no time, I had no time for lead generation, I had no time for all of these things because I was too busy head in the weeds, not hiring to help, not getting support, not listening to coaches, because I had to work. If you've been there, I feel you drop in the
chat. And if you are there, I feel you. This took a lot of work. And a lot of reconditioning, I guess maybe is the word of you have to work super hard to get paid, you have to work super hard to get money, you have to work super hard to be rich, successful, fill in the blank, great. And I think that I told myself that story for too
long. Don't Don't get me wrong, I love creating content, I love serving and supporting my clients, I love doing the all the things I love being in the weeds, I'm not gonna lie, I love it. I love it. However, that is not a sustainable business model, it is not sustainable for your health. It's not sustainable for your growth. Like if I'm the visionary, the implementer, and the admin. And all of the redundant tasks that don't need to be doing, my business isn't going to grow,
right? Because the admin tasks are gonna take over the visionary, the implementation, right, the admin tasks that are just recurring tasks every single day. So I had to get to a place where I was like, Okay, I'm going to delegate this, I'm
going to do this. And the crazy thing is, is that when I started getting rid of clients, and I started putting my business first and I started putting myself first and I started putting my health first, that's when the income level changed, that's when the revenue changed. I started charging my worth. Still got some work to do on that. But I started charging my worth, at least more than I was I changed my clients prices, and
I move forward, right. But I also had to have this belief in myself that I was worth worthy, right, I was worthy of higher prices, I was worthy of an assistant, I was worthy of getting help, I was worthy of paying myself. And it took a lot of blocks and triggers to get through all of that. Because I don't know about you, but it's a lot of fun spending money in your business. But it's also really fun to get paid. It's also fun to see your business drop money into your personal
bank account. Because that's your weekly, bi weekly, monthly, whatever it is paycheck, right? It's fun to be able to, to do that. It's fun, that I can earn enough money that my business can run ads, it's fun that I can pay other people, it's fun that I can donate to charities, it's fun that I can do all of these things. But until until we get to a place where we feel like we don't have to do that stuff anymore, we're going to continue
to do it. So I want you number one, let me give you permission to give yourself some grace. If you've been in any of these cycles that I talked about, many business owners have been set have been guilty of this this right. But it doesn't have to continue to go that way. You don't have to continue working yourself to death, you don't have to continue charging the lowest prices. We're not all about looking at the ads, right? The paper ads and finding the
cheapest price. That's not what we're trying to do in our business. We're trying to charge our worth. We're trying to create, hopefully, a life where we have time and money, freedom, a life that we get to design and doing those things that I did, you know, working extra working more staying busy having 15 clients that I did social media for five times a week, right? Like that is not sustainable, without support without help without paying yourself what
you're worth, right? by forgetting about your health and not taking care of yourself by literally working 12 to 15 hour days is not sustainable. But there was a moment in my life. I felt like that's what I had to do. I felt like that was the only answer. Nobody could tell me any different. And I'm not sitting here trying to tell you I can tell you any different. I'm just giving you my experience and my
story. And again, a lot of work, a lot of worthiness work, a lot of mindset work, a lot of blocks had to go into that. And it didn't happen overnight. I remember when I heard my first assistant, I was like, Okay, I'm gonna let you just do this. Remember, I was a control freak. I'm gonna let you just do this. And so I gave her one thing. And then it was good, right? She did a really good job. I was like, Okay, I'll give her something
else. Right. So it was like a baby stepping type process which was it's been my whole business right now I don't know who said it originally, but our business is like the biggest personal development, growth journey that will go on, we find out so many things about ourselves, I found out I didn't know I had money box, I didn't know that I had, like, let me do it all blocks. I didn't know I had a workaholic problem. I didn't know any of
these things. I didn't know I had all these thoughts and beliefs about myself money, my worthiness. But again, we work on it, we get better. Rome was built in the day, you don't change your body, your health overnight, right? It is just making the next best decision is making the next best choice. And when you start to, it's like peeling an onion back, right? Like when you're peeling the layers of an onion, when you start peeling all that back and
you start working. And you and you start, you say no to somebody, right? And said, because remember, I said yes to everybody? And I say no. Those are my prices, take it or leave it. You win, right? You feel like you have a win, even if they say no. And they're like, I'm good. You want you won. And you're like, okay, that I didn't die, right. And then you start standing up for yourself a little bit more, you start adding boundaries, still working on that, too. When we I started
adding boundaries, right? I started working on my money mindset, I started charging more, I started getting more uncomfortable. Sure, I could let that whole part of my business. Sink me, I could still have that exact business model today. I don't know that I would be here, I definitely wouldn't be healthy. And I probably wouldn't feel confident enough to be on video though. So whatever mistakes you're making your business, give yourself grace, know that you can get out of it.
Know that you can change your prices at any time. You know that you're worthy of that. And you're worthy of taking care of yourself. So I don't know 100% Where I was planning on going with this video, I just knew it was the only thing on my heart that where we've been Is it the path that we have to keep going to reach success to reach our our definition of success. You can stop and kick something that's not working for you kick it to the side. That's not working for me. Let me try this.
But change one thing at a time. Don't try to change everything at one time. Because that's a little it's going to be hard to keep up with. But get rid of the things that are really stressing you out. If you have too many clients raise their prices, the ones who value you will say if you need to work on your money box, work on your money locks. It's also the story we tell ourselves. If I keep telling myself I'm a control freak, and I'm I'm a workaholic, am I going to get help? Am I going to stop
worrying so much? Nope, I'm not. Because I'm proud of that. I'm proud that I'm a workaholic. I'm proud that I can do it all myself, right. That's what I tell myself. So that's the story that I keep living. So remember you are the story that you tell yourself. If you need to change the way things are going in your business, change them, give yourself grace, don't beat yourself up. Understand it may not happen overnight. But give yourself grace to do that. We all make mistakes in this
journey. We all do things that we're not proud of we all you know, wish we would have said no instead of Yes. And wish we would have said yes to things instead of No. And that's okay. Let's just move forward. There was a reason that it happened. Let's learn from it. Let's change the best way that we can and create the life that we design, create the business that we design, stop thinking that everything has to be this way, and that we can't do things in our own way that feels good to
us. So you have permission to make changes, you have permission to give yourself grace, you have permission to do things differently going forward.
