Hello , who wants to talk about challenging yourself and why it is so important and why it's so crucial and why we do it ?
I think a lot of times when we challenge ourselves , i feel like different things can happen , but I feel like , for me , the thing that I've experienced the most is really truly seeing what I'm made of , really truly seeing what I'm capable of , really like shocking myself . Right , i have to read you this definition because I thought this was really funny .
So in activation , which is the program going on right now , i taught about how to run challenges , and so I looked up the definition of a challenge and I thought this was a very interesting definition that I actually had never heard of .
It's not exactly how I would define the word challenge , but again , it was interesting And of course , my computer's gonna be really slow because I want to pull it up to you . But when I say a challenge , this is how I feel like a challenge makes you feel .
First of all , it feels like something that stretches you on , probably gets you uncomfortable , but when you achieve it , or accomplish it , it literally feels like I've never bungee jumped . So if you bungee jumped , you can tell me .
Or sky dive I've never done any of that , but like I can imagine that it feels just like that , like you literally feel like you accomplished something you never thought was possible And you have this exhilarating feeling and you just feel like you can take on the world right , like you're capable of so much .
But when I was looking up definitions online , this was to the word two . One was a call to engage in a contest . Okay , this one was interesting And this one's a little spicy . But also I get where they say it to arouse or stimulate , especially by presenting with difficulties or a stimulating task or problem .
Now , when we achieve something right , when we do something that we don't think is possible or we think is going to be really hard , again it shows us what we're made of .
And when we present ourselves with challenges on purpose , i feel like when other challenges that are naturally going to come , especially being a business owner , i feel like we're going to be able to handle those so much better . Right , it's going to be a lot easier to handle something like that than it is if we never challenge ourselves .
It helps us understand how to go through difficulties . It helps us with our emotional intelligence , it helps us with our leadership . It helps us with so many things . Back in 2020 , when I did this by myself , i did 100 lives in July . I didn't have a plan .
I just said I need to do something besides focus on my bank account , and I was letting money like drive everything that I did And I was like I want to focus on something else . I'm going to focus on something I can control . I'm going to do 100 lives in July And everybody thought I was crazy .
Like seriously , a lot of people thought I was crazy And after I actually completed the challenge , the mastermind I was in I don't even remember who told me this or who said this to me , and it was not with Malice . She was just like I think a lot of people project on what you do , like if they could do it , but she was .
I never thought you would do that . I never thought you would make it . I was like , oh okay , i never said that to myself . Now , the next year , when I did 200 lives , i'm going to tell you I had a lot of doubts because that was hard .
I mean , i was averaging six lives a day , then I would miss one , and then it was like eight lives a day And by , and I was at 10 lives a day . I was doing 10 live videos a day across different platforms .
We'll never do that again Because it was more quality , or quantity and quality , but I think that we get to remember that a lot of times , we like to tell ourselves you can't do that , you can never do that . But if somebody you've disliked , let's just say it's something you weren't , wasn't your , you weren't their biggest fan .
And they said to you I don't think , i don't think you can do this . Would you believe them ? No , you wouldn't believe them . You would literally like I'm gonna do this because I'm gonna prove it to you that I can do this , because that's how I operate , right , however ? but when our brains , we challenge ourselves , right ?
We let our brains tell us that You can't do it , you might as well give up by your head , you might as well stop now .
And we allow that to like fester in our head and I like to call it like that stock , the stock ticker at the bottom of the news channels , like that's what we allow it to do Literally , circle in our head and keep telling us that you can't do this , you can't do that , you can't blah , blah blah . Every challenge I've given myself has been hard .
Some have been harder than others , don't get me wrong . Some have been way harder than others . However , i always manage to go above and beyond what my challenge is . 100 lives in July was 115 lives in July . 200 lives in July was 205 lives in July . 100 uncomfortable actions in 100 days was 100 uncomfortable actions in 90 days .
Like I was trying everything I could to like , push myself Because we get in this place . It's just like when I got visible , right Visibility was really hard at first and then it got really easy Because I wasn't pushing myself .
I wasn't pushing my messaging , i wasn't pushing my vulnerability , i wasn't pushing myself to let my audience see like the real me , the authentic me , the vulnerable me . I was afraid . I wanted to write a like , my content right And so every level of my business .
I have continued to push myself And when I give myself these challenges , which may sound crazy to some people and maybe they are it always changes my life . Who I was on July 1st 2020 was a totally different person on July 31st 2020 . Who I was on July 1st of 2021 was a totally different person on July 31st of 2021 .
2022 , june 1st of 2022 to August 30th I don't know how many 90 days are But , like that person was a different person The year that I took on , i'm gonna do an uncomfortable thing like action step every single day . Again , i was a different person after that year . I promised myself I would grow .
I promised I would stretch myself every single day and I did . I believe that we can collapse time when we do these things . When most people would say I'm gonna go live every single day for 100 days , i went live 100 times in 31 days . So I collapsed time . The same thing with the 200 .
And I want you to think about what you could actually challenge yourself with and do . Yes , i have a challenge going on in the month of July . No , you can do this by yourself . You don't have to join me . I mean , i'm gonna challenge you don't get me wrong , But I'm just saying you don't need me to do this challenge .
But if you want somebody to help you and guide you and have fun in the community and win some prizes , yes , you can join me in just one thing live . But what I believe happens is we can truly change ourselves . We can usually truly blow our own freaking minds when we say yes to challenging yourself , when we say yes to doing the uncomfortable thing .
I don't want you to challenge yourself and it's easy . I want you to challenge yourself and I want it to push you . We don't grow in our comfort zone . We grow when we get uncomfortable and we do it anyhow . We grow when we are scared and we do it anyhow . We grow when we don't see results , but we keep doing the consistent actions anyhow .
We don't get instant gratification , but we keep doing the daily actions regardless . That's why I challenge my audience , because it has helped me grow tremendously . Yes , visibility has helped my business the most , but challenging myself and pushing myself is like a really close second . And challenging yourself isn't always about video .
There are many ways to challenge yourself . It just so happens that I use video as my source of a way to push myself because it was so uncomfortable for me , even though I was comfortable being on video .
So what are you doing in July When everybody says it's slow , when everyone says that nothing happens because it's summer and everybody's on vacation and nobody's on social media and our ad costs are higher because there's less or there's not as many places to put the ad and all of our views are down and all this stuff . What are you choosing to do ?
Are you choosing to accept that ? Are you choosing to be like oh well , that's just the way it is , chrissy , i'm just going to just sit here and just wait till the fall . Or are you going to create momentum ? You always have a choice . You always get to decide . I think July is a great month , a great mid-year reset , to choose to do something challenging .
