I have never been one to do overwhelm and early in my business I would definitely say I was overwhelmed a lot . But I have chosen . And I listened to Marie Forilio at FHL 2022 . And one of the things that was resounding with her was I don't do overwhelm and we just choose to not do overwhelm . I see this a lot in my programs .
I offer a lot , so this can really happen when we feel like we are behind or we feel like we're not keeping up , and it's a decision that we just get to say and hold ourselves and say I don't do overwhelm , I'm not behind . I will get to a place where I can feel really solid when I have the time right , but I just don't do overwhelm .
And I experienced this because I am in a certification program where I have to , in order to complete , have 200 hours by a certain date . And it's like I started looking at my hours and I started feeling this overwhelm and I'm the person who says I don't do overwhelm , and so I can see where we can put ourselves in that situation .
But here's the thing Nothing that I offer is a certification that you have to have in a certain amount of time . So this morning I looked at what I had to catch up on for my certification . How can I be my word ? How can I be in a place where I can still finish this with 200 hours by a certain time ? And I had a 7 am peer call .
I had an 8 am there in the UK , so there ahead , so a 7 am peer call at an 8 am group certification call . And then from 9 to 1230 , I sat at my desk and got caught up on divergent thinking and got caught up on positive psychology and got caught up on all my human design and all the things that I was behind on . But I chose to catch up .
I did not choose to sit here and think about overwhelm and oh my God , how much I have to do and all these things , because that takes away our joy , that takes away enjoying the process , and I wanted to enjoy the process right .
And so actually in my training this morning I was learning about different human design types and how some of us actually do really work well under pressure and how some of us actually really don't work well under pressure and how knowing about our design can actually help us like decide , like where I'm going to thrive . Am I gonna thrive under pressure ?
Am I gonna thrive under pretty much overwhelm , or where am I at ? And so it was really really interesting in that . But again , we get to make that decision . Are you choosing to create overwhelm , are you choosing to , or are you conditioned to believe that I work better under pressure ?
But that's really not how you are , and it's just really fascinating to me how we can get ourselves in a spot we do right . We choose from the choices we make .
Pressure can be , and that's actually my human design is I work really really well under pressure and I was like , okay , this is making sense , I work really well with deadlines , and but also we can condition ourselves that everything has to be pressure right , so we have to be very careful about what we're doing .
But it was just so fascinating that I didn't let myself . I looked at all the hours and like I need 150 by December and I'm like , okay , how can we get these hours ? How can I break this down ? How can I make this make sense ?
Okay , I'm spending three and a half hours actually five and a half hours today If you count my coaching and my peer mentorship call and just everything that we're doing adds up right , and so I got caught up . I took my quiz . I felt really , really good because I chose not to set an overwhelm and overthink it . I decided to take action .
A long time ago , one of my mentors said that when we experience overwhelm , one of the reasons that we do experience it is because we need to stop learning and we need to take action . And I've also found that to be true too , that sometimes overwhelm is because we've learned enough and it's time to go take action on the things that we've learned .
So if you ever experience a realm that could be another thing that you need to do , you need to walk away . But I've also learned that living my life doesn't create overwhelm . Right , I get the stuff done . I need to get done . I have three to five non-negotiables every single day . Every single day and this was another quote that came up in my call today .
I don't know if I can find it really quick , but it's 80% of our results come from the 20% of the things that we do . That's fascinating , right , like the consistent actions . 80% of that comes from the 20% of the things that we do , and I guess we get to think about that too , right , and that shouldn't create overwhelm at all .
It actually is freeing and freedom . And again going back to overwhelm and pressure , like that's another thing I've created in my business . It is I'm very I created freedom-based business . I don't want to feel like in a box . I don't want to feel like I have to do this . I want to be in the presence of .
I get to do everything and if we can shift that mindset granted , there are things I have to do , don't get me wrong laundry dishes , feeding my dogs , taking them out to the bathroom not always the joyous thing to do , right . However , I can shift my mindset in those things and like , when I do laundry , it's learning time .
I have my phone with me , I'm listening to a training , I'm always doing something , so I find the moments where I can create the joy so that the overwhelm , the pressure and the eh and the have to isn't there . How can you shift more of that into your thinking and in what you do , whether it's business , life or whatever ?
How can we shift this to make this a better experience for us ? Because , listen , we can make life sucky and hard and overwhelmed in all these things , or we can find the joy , the happiness and find the silver lining in every single thing that we do . We get to choose friends . We get to choose every single moment , every single day .
It's just what are you choosing ?
