So many times in business, we want the newest, latest, greatest thing. Because we are business owners, we are entrepreneurs, we are CEOs. And we always are looking for like the next thing. What is the next thing? What is the next thing? What is the thing that will make me more successful? What is the thing that will make me more money? What is the thing that will save me time? What is the
same that will help? What is the thing that will help me work smarter, not harder, blah, blah, blah, go down the list, right? We see it all. We've all seen it. We've all been there. We've all been guilty of grabbing that thing. And then realizing, I already knew what I was doing all along, right? So one of the things that I'm focusing on in my inner circle, during the month of January, and even for myself, right, I'm not like, I'm not sitting here preaching, this
is what you should do. But I'm going to be doing something different, is truly going back to basics. And it was funny when I invested in my $14,000. Coach. And I'm not saying that to brag, I'm saying that to like, explain, it doesn't matter the revenue that you make that, hello, we still get to go back to basics. People are more attracted to the basics, we get to break things down. And a lot of times we want to be so high level and create this content.
That's I'm doing air quotes high level, but it's the basics that actually attract the people, no matter what level that they're at. Funny how that works, right? So I want you to think about what are the basics that you get to go back to what has worked for you before, but you just like I stopped doing it. Or you stopped being consistent. Because you got to where you are by doing something. Now, that doesn't mean we don't need to add another strategy. That doesn't mean we stay the same
place. Right? We don't try to get better. No, none of that is what I'm talking about. I'm talking about. There's just basics that we should be doing in our business. I went on like an eight week hiatus of putting out the type of content that I normally put out. And that happened June and July of 2022. And I just didn't. Something was off. But honestly at the time going through it. I couldn't tell you that's what it was. And it's funny, because once I realized I wasn't putting out my
best. And yes, maybe it was my best at that time. But I don't I don't agree. I think I could have done a lot better. And I'm okay giving myself grace as well. But it's funny, because when I talked to my friends, and I said, Yeah, I've totally not been showing up. They're like what? I'm like, Well, okay, not the way I normally did. They're like, Okay, well, we can't tell. And I'm like, I just think
that's funny. But back to basics is me knowing what I'm capable of me knowing what I can do me knowing the output that I can do, right? But in those eight weeks, I was so focused on Who am I talking to? Who am I talking to them, I feel like this person is different and, and it's crazy, because the person was a little different than I was talking to. But the message and the things that I said didn't really change that
much. But I was questioning myself for like eight weeks over it which caused me to not speak. So when people tell me, Christie, I don't want to get on video or I can't get a video because I don't know what to talk about. I understand you I've been there recently. I've been there lots of times, but definitely recently, like I know what that feels like. But a lot of times, we just get to go back to basics and repeat ourselves over and over and over. The question is, are you willing to
do that? Are you willing to go back to basics and just be consistent? Like come on? Consistency, like that word is the number one thing I hear that business owners struggle with. But it's also like the most one of the most boring things like finding your ideal person, like this is just basic. But it's so helpful. Right? Identifying the tweak that I needed to in the person I was talking to was insane, right, insane and amount of confidence that it gave me
because it was funny. I was talking to a friend of mine and I was like, this is the person I want. Like this is the person I want to talk to. And she goes Oh, so it's you. Like a year or two ago is like oh yeah, I guess. I guess I didn't see that. Thank you for showing me that again. Back to Basics right. A lot of times you talked about our ideal person is probably a passport. version of us. Because we feel and understand that person even more, right? Because we've been
there. So consistency, a huge, basic thing. But a lot of us aren't doing it. Consistency plus a little like percentage like 5% More right? To get uncomfortable. Taking risks playing bigger, all very basic things. If you think about it, we hear it all the time. We just don't do it. Getting visible, a pretty basic thing. But most of us aren't willing to be consistent with that either. Creating better content, creating quality content, putting out mini masterclass
style content. Again, another thing that's pretty basic, giving value, the law reciprocity, we've all heard it, but are we doing it? Are we doing it? Building relationships? Again, back to basics, talking to actual other people like aka being social? On social media? Again, very basic. But the basics work, right? We may think it's really basic. But if it works, and it's worked before, why aren't we doing more
of that? So we speak about what are the basics that you get to go back to, because they build your foundation for everything else that you want in your business? The question is, are you willing to be consistent with them? Are you willing to do them? Are you willing to show
up?
