Episode description

Welcome back to another episode of the Third Sub Podcast!

In this episode, Alex and Sam are back, as usual, this time to chat all things Vancouver Whitecaps, Concacaf Champions Cup, 2026 World Cup and more.

To begin, they dive into the big news of the week - the Vancouver Whitecaps are finally back in competitive action, as they get set to take on Tigres UANL in the first round of the 2024 Concacaf Champions Cup this week.

Because of that, they dive into everything you need to know ahead of the first leg of the tie, including what to expect from Tigres, how the 'Caps are looking after preseason, tactics, and much more.

After that, they take a look at the latest news out of the Whitecaps land, as they announced a couple of fun Canadian signings this week - the signing of Canadian centre back Belal Halbouni to a first-team deal, and the signing of local academy product Jeevan Badwal to a second-team deal.

Lastly, they share their thoughts on the biggest soccer news out of British Columbia this week, that being that Vancouver will get to host seven games at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, including a minimum of two Canadian games.

From the impact of being able to host those Canadian games, to the power of that tournament, they chat about why this tournament has the potential to be so special for the city of Vancouver, as well as Canada as a whole.
