Hi, this is Stephanie Maas. Today I wanna talk to you about how stability has been redefined, especially in the last several years, especially in the banking industry. I remember when I first came into recruiting for commercial banks, a lot of what I would hear would be an important aspect to folks would be the stability of the organization that they were with. Meaning they wanted to either be with a certain size organization because it would provide a certain level of stability.

Oh, that bank will never get bought. Or they wanted to create a certain career path for themselves so that regardless of what happened with the organization, they know that their skillset would always be in high demand. What is so fascinating to me is over the last several years, how stability has truly gone from a macro level. To a micro level.

And what I mean by that is, again, in the past it used to be, oh, I'll just go work for an organization and they'll never get bought, so I don't have to worry about losing my job for that. And yet we're in the midst of seeing changes and restructuring. So where's the stability in that? At the same time, we have seen a market that is rampant with m and a. So you go with a big boy and you could be downsized or restructured or whatever. You go with a small guy you could get acquired or bought.

What it reminds us is where truly is stability, and again, it's not at the macro level anymore, it's with you, your, the stability in your career. Doesn't mean things can't happen to you and despite your best efforts, but what it means is when they do happen, are you garnering the skillset, the reputation, the market presence, that when things do happen, does your phone ring off the hook for folks saying, Hey. We want you with us.

I will tell you if it's not, and I know this sounds weird coming from a recruiter because most people think recruiters want you to rely on us for your stability, but I don't. I, I mean, on occasion I do. I need it a few times a year to feed my family, but most of the time your career stability needs to be regardless of the organization you work for. And what I have found is the folks that do the best at this. No matter what happens, they always land on their feet quickly.
