What is the Innocence Project?

Cardozo School of Law at Yeshiva University, the Innocence Project works to free the innocent, prevent wrongful convictions, and create fair, compassionate, and equitable systems of justice for everyone. Our work is guided by science and grounded in antiracism.”

Keith Long, a Harvard Nieman Foundation Scholar and Florida Bar Certified for Continuing Law Education Credits, and I discuss what the Innocence Project is on the show today. This program is a 501c nonprofit legal organization that commits their time and energy to exonerating individuals who may have been wrongfully convicted of a crime.

Keith explains what can be done through legislation to reduce the numbers of people who fall into this situation. There are thousands of individuals who are currently in prison or even on death row who are there just because they were in the wrong place at the wrong time & can’t afford representation.
