Welcome to the spin the spin cast, the grid league spin cast. Just a quick note. This is not officially sanctioned by the United Grid league. We kind of got permission to do it so but but they did not allow us to do this. So don't don't don't get mad if we say something stupid. We got a special guest, Mr. Kippen, it real Grant. Grant Hooper. Can you hear me of? Course, I can hear you. OK, does it sound like it's on my mic? Sounds as good as always. OK, I had like my computer shut
down. My new microphone didn't work, so I had to go to my old one. It was crazy, crazy. Starting off, well guys, we are I think minutes away and you do not need to go anywhere for this. There we go, There they are. See where JY is. Boom. Oh. Yeah. Wait. There he is. There he is. There he is. Where? Wait, where's Kale? Is he just lagging behind or? He is. He's lagging just a little bit behind. All right, it's fine. I honestly have zero idea what they're going to do right now.
Yeah, he's already tired. No, we we got permission. We just can't call it a partnership. We are literally doing this on our own. Rogue. Thankfully, United Gridley gave us the opportunity to do this. They just don't want us to say that we have anything to do with. Official. With them. So try to avoid, but we don't have John on there, so we're not calling anybody. That's true.
Something else? Yeah. So yeah, this from what I've been told, this is an hour and 15 minutes and so. So how does this work everybody? I am just as ignorant as you. It's going to be fun. Is this a head to What are we going to have here? Yeah, so the Houston Bandits are facing this, this new team. I think they're Las Vegas something or other. Apparently they had an odd number of teams when Houston came in and they didn't have something else.
So two teams basically merged and formed a super team. And so I think that's what this group is. They were like Orlando and somebody else. I don't know so. So this is in Florida, the the one that Colton's doing is going to be in Texas, is that right? Yeah, they have. They have one location there at some like Convention Center with something else. And so it's it's these two teams will take on I think it's like 7 or 8 or 9 different workouts that are team based, right.
So you have multiple people on the field. It changes each time. Some of it is. Sean's shorts are tight. It's all that Taco Bell he was eating. He so, So basically they're gonna do, you know, they have 4 boxes, what they call grids that you do different movements throughout. I mean they have you see like there's APVC pipe there. I think those are like pistol jump overs. So like there's all kinds of crazy gymnastics Greek stuff.
John, I think we're only going to see him in the final grid where they usually is like the heavyweight. There is some type of weightlifting ladder. I have no idea what kind that is it. Sometimes it's a snatch, sometimes they have a thruster. I think they have a clean, maybe a deadlift. And so they'll have handstand walking and back flips. And I saw Matt Rattay as we were getting ready to start, he was doing like backward roll to support type stuff on the rings.
So. I know they do complexes and stuff that are pretty crazy. Yeah. So you're not going to see the same. There's a lot of different movements that CrossFit says we're not doing. So it does sound like the Houston is struggling maybe a little bit for some of the gymnastics, the type stuff. So we'll see how it works out. John is super excited as he saw him eating down with. Single Taco? I thought he only did McDonald's. He does Taco Bell too.
Apparently so. Yeah, I wonder if anybody from the other team are any of the people who just absolutely hate John. So yes, John is a very divisive figure. Yeah. There's Mather this. That's the dude that said, yeah, go ahead and do this. I know. You. Guys want to support John, so go ahead and do, but no so Tom Soroka, the guy that got into it with John last year. After Oh yeah, I remember that guy. Supposedly he has said he's going to be in the crowd booing John every time he's there.
I sure hope the case. Isn't, is that the guy? So I'm trying to think if this is there was a strong man guy and there was a grid guy and one of them was like quoting Bible verses and stuff. Is that guy? Yeah, he, yeah, he was frustrated. He was very. He's from Chicago and he he's been in the like weightlifting world for years. He touched, I think he may have owned a CrossFit gym for a bit, or at least been around it. Yeah. And then he decided to go full on grid.
Yeah, he's like super, I guess, Laughed, woke, whatever you want to say. Just super easily offended. Right. Yes, he is. Yeah, he was. He took he took offense and had the little, little bit of white knighting, which is fun I guess. Yeah, yeah, for sure. Got to have the white knight. All right. So they do. So they'll be. Partner forward. So here we go. Set for female players that increases in difficulty and decreases in reps as you move
down the grid. Only one male and one female are allowed on the grid at any given time. As players perform reps, their partner must be in the corresponding hash box for those reps to count. All reps of each station must be complete before moving on to the next. Players may substitute at any time, but any reps performed while a teammate is not in the
hash box. Are a fault this race is full of. Fast action, coordination and communication between players as every move is dependent on the position of both players on the grid. Remember, know where your partner is in the partner. Forward. Welcome back to United Grid. There we go. Partner forward, go ahead and tell them where to take a look forward to Byron. All right, we started with the double kettlebell ground to overhead 35 LB starts for the men's weight, 45 lbs.
Fifty 3 lbs and 70 pounds 70 lbs at the final quadrant. The women's weight would be £25.35 pounds 45 lbs and 53 lbs at the final quadrant. Also, we have pistol stick jump overs. The men's height will be 6 inches, 12 inches, 15 inches and 18 inches at quadrant 4. The women's height is 6 inches, 12 inches, 12 inches and 15 also at quadrant 4. So we're looking for. So there you go, that is what they'll do. This first one. So this thing like literally is
2 minutes. Pistol stick jump overs, I'm going to have to see that to understand that. Yeah, just imagine you're doing a pistol like next to the stick. You as you stand up you jump over and land on the same leg and then you could switch. Josh. So. Yeah. John, I saw John testing. This. I did see him testing it, yeah. We'll see if they throw him in there. Looks like he's kind of warming up a little bit. He might be subbed in here at some point. Yeah, I think they have to.
I think as much as possible they have to be prepped for certain movements in case they need them for those, even though it's probably not optimal for him. Oh Dang, I think we're at like 30 lbs. What was it? I can't remember 35. South, yeah, then maybe 50-50, and then 70 at the last. 10 Dang, there's Sophia, right? Yeah, that is that is the coach, player, coach. I mean, they, they just throw those things up. I don't. I Oh, there you go. Oh, no. Oh, oh man. Oh no. Dang, there you go dude.
That dude is cruising. My knees hurt just looking at that dude. Hopefully John's knee doesn't explode trying to do this. I think you have to be younger than like 33 to do this. So the guy on on the Bandits was pretty solid, but the oh, this is Fort Lauderdale Lions. James, look at what James says, Grid said in the chat that lockout is not required for that. How about what? So how do you how do you define it? Just sling it over your head. Just sling it. If it looks like a sling, it
counts. I mean, they, they are pretty clear that they do not like exact specifications. Like movement standards are not really what they're going for. They're they're going for intensity over quality. Bryson would lose his mind on. This it's It's probably faster to actually fully lock out than to try to like stop. I I mean they literally are just throwing it up as. Fast as they can, throwing and calling it Yeah, she was not.
Her depth was a little questionable, but hey, if you're going to, if you're not going to question the lockout overhead. Then yeah, there's John. There's John. Oh yeah, there he is. It froze. Oh yeah, there he goes. Wait, Sophia's going with the 70s? Well, it's women's weights. I think it's probably 53. OK, no, she can, she can, she can lift some heavyweight I see on hiller fat. Oh, John, no Rep. That was not did they no Rep him or no. Yeah, he did.
Yeah, it was not close. Oh, you got no reped again? Oh, John. OK, he's good now. My guess is the first guy is probably going to redo it because he was made the those pistol jump overs way easy. Oh no, John's doing it again. 70s right? Yeah. And so there's like so you get 2 points for a win and then you get one point if you are within a certain time frame of the other team, it's like 10% behind or or like by the time cap or something. Oh gosh, yeah. There's only a couple.
Dang, so they were really close. Everything is, I mean, generally speaking, it's going to be within a second or two. Yeah, you got to cross the finish line. So they'll get one point. This is such a weird thing to train for your training for like 30 seconds of work. Yes, and then you're done. Yeah. But you literally are throwing that. You're like, you're not. You're throwing the kettle bells over your head. You are not like just doing a regular regular swing. Yeah, you.
Have. To be within 10% of the winning time to get a point. So they should have got a point I would think. Yeah, generally it happens. There's like a couple fast ones that are like a little Sprint. Stephan. 100%, yeah. Yeah, they couldn't get. But Brian Tate, Brian Tate, welcome. Thank you for coming to a new member. Appreciate it. Yeah, Dad bod definitely makes that tricky. Yeah, look at the roster Eric Cardona used to. I think he was on a team maybe
in the CrossFit space for a bit. Kate Cannon, I think is done. I can't remember seeing her name at Tiruwatapalooza. Yeah, yeah, I looked up some of these people. There were definitely some good Crossfitters. Yeah, but like John was saying it, it is so different. Like, again, you were literally sprinting as fast as you possibly can for 30 seconds. And then, yeah, he'll probably
take this next one off. OK, so they're wearing two different jerseys because a team merged I'm guessing, but it looks like they've got like 7 different jerseys. Yeah, it's, it's kind of the Wild West, I think bringing, bringing people onto your team. There's one arm, John. That's the adaptive division. Yeah. Strength specialists OK, Avery Jesmer. That's the That's what he does the dating show with John and Avery. Oh yeah, that's right. Colton Mertens is a utility player.
Yeah, when he's actually there. Yeah. I do hope that there's a handstand walk event so we can see Matt Rattay literally Sprint on this. That would be sweet. I wonder like the the other team had like a bunch more players. I wonder if there's a limit, if Houston just couldn't field enough, field more athletes. Yeah, I don't know how that I'm not sure. I know she was still looking for people. Yeah, maybe they don't. Oh, here we go.
It's. Male and a female barbell are placed in the first quadrant upon the start of the race. Both are picked up by the team in any fashion by the three men and three women allowed in the race at any given time. Once the barbell leaves the ground, it may not touch the ground again until all reps are complete. If it does, the entire team must return to the start line before
continuing. A set number of reps must be completed by both genders in each quadrant before the team can move on. Non lifting players will act as the human rack to support the barbells as the team moves from quadrant to quadrant and switches, performing players in the process as needed. Substitutions may happen at any time. Time stops when all reps are complete and the last player crosses the finish line.
This strength focused race has the most players on the grid at the same time and requires effective planning and practice to be executed well through coordination amongst players. Remember, don't drop the barbell in the mirror race. All right. Folks, we're going to tap into the actual factuals of the mirror. We have the men's weight at 175 lbs. We need 7 reps at every quadrant. The women's weight would be 115 lbs, seven reps at each quadrant. So we're going to see these two
teams mirror each other. There we go. So hang snatches one 75115 seven in every quadrant? Savon asked. Is Taco John and one arm John the same person? It is. He just needs one arm to eat those tacos. So. So if you drop the bar, they're saying you don't have to start the reps over, but you all have to go all the way back to the finish line and then come back and and continue I think, right. Correct. Yeah. The idea is the bar has to stay
off the ground the whole time. So the penalty is, you know, sometimes like CrossFit teams have, like if you drop the worm, you got to do the burpee penalties. This is you just got to run to the start, come back and then you can start pick back up where. You failed Joshua Davis's comments. So I don't even actually understand that. I mean, I get what it means. Did somebody say that type of media? I keep, I keep hearing people say that type of media. It is Mr. Friend, Mr. Friend
said. You know, that type of media, you know, just reports really quickly and doesn't really care how it impacts the athletes so. You know how the way it impacts it is that Alex is going to get a a sponsorship deal. I already know of 1 potentially in the works. Let's. See the the unlike their agent. Yeah, exactly. I'll get a cut 10%. Yep. Here we go. Oh, Jon is getting ready. Oh, he's the the holder.
So what's crazy is he'll they'll do this and then they'll have to like figure out a way to they have to switch when they go down. Oh Jude, those are some ugly patches. Yeah, Dang, that's rough. I mean, I'm not one to talk, but still, that's Oh my gosh. I mean, I feel like John should be. Why isn't John doing this? He's probably doing the third quadrant. Yeah, OK. He. Probably can't do because like the guy that does the first quadrant he usually does the 4th
I think. OK, that was a little bit better. My guess is John needed some rest. Oh, John, come on. Oh here we go, see his look way better. Oh man. They try to move so fast that the movement is just. Yeah. What do you remember? Are they at 175? Yeah. And so you cannot step into the finish area until you get all the reps in, otherwise it's a penalty. I think it was last year. I think somebody stepped into the finished grid too early and they got some type of penalty. Yeah.
Oh man, it's now four to two. They've lost twice. Do people pay to watch this? I, I don't know if there are actually paid tickets. I mean, it looks about it. It looks about as good as the World Fitness Project. Yeah. So that's right, I like it. Where? Where are we watching this from? Is this their website? No, they're on YouTube. OK. Yeah, they're on YouTube. Cool. So we can we can rewind it if we want. It'll be good. Glad we have that option. I am not going to unmute this
guy, so don't worry. They have 284 watching. We are at 283. This is a battle very, very close. Nice. It's good. Oh, still on the ring tap? This must be the burpee. Maybe do burpees and touch the the the. Ring. OK, got it. Mr. Mccochner, thoughts on will? I think you kind of sum those up in yesterday's video. Yeah, that's not Brian Friend's real profile picture. Where Are you sure? I don't know. I don't think it is. How is John Young performing so far? Very well.
He's doing great. You just never know who's who These that's the funniest thing about these chats. You never know who's real. A bit real. Yeah, it's a good. It's a good picture. Vindicate. They are in a big Miami fitness Expo. OK, you'd think more people would come see what Grid is all about. So that's Taylor Stallings. She was like the best grid league athlete probably of all time.
She started back, she was in the she was in the very first, like the original version of the National Grid League or whatever it was NBGL. And like, yeah, I think she did. Actually, I think I think Taylor did pop and from CrossFit and then she just went and did grid. But she was like the beast for the women on any of the heavy lifting elements. Yeah, she was with like the DC brawlers and like, won everything. Wow was that were actual crossfitters doing the original grid league?
I remember somebody explained this a little bit once I wasn't around. Dude, the first, I think it was in 2016, it started and Matt Frazier, Annie Thorstadter were on New York, Noah Olson, Kenny Leverage were on Los Angeles. That team never won. Oh, James Townsend was on that team. Oh wow. Who else was there? Kotler was the coach for a team.
There were a bunch. Crazy and I think there was some animosity between CrossFit and grid almost like you need to you need to not do this league and come to CrossFit or things or vice versa almost not not saying it was exclusivity, but like I don't know kind of like how you need to pick what you're going to do type thing. Marcus that's what I've heard.
Yeah. Marcus Philly was there the second John sitting down on the box, he found his box and like so they did the one season, that's when they went to Madison Square Garden, overspent millions of dollars. I think they had ATV contract that first time, got nobody. And then the second year they really struggled financially.
And then they had it in Salt Lake City, I think over like 2 weekends, Basically put everybody in a hotel for two weekends and just hammered out an entire season, which from what I heard is quite some debauchery going on. What stayed in in Salt Lake City and it happened in Salt Lake City, stayed in Salt Lake City and then it went away.
And then I think it was Matt Mather was, I can't remember, he was fully responsible for bringing it down to Florida or he was help somebody bring it down the Florida after the big national side blew up. And it was just like really small grassroots. And then slowly it's grown and grown and grown. And now there's a team in Houston, there's a team in Las Vegas. They just announced a team in New York.
But even though while they have teams in like a certain location, you don't have to be there. Look misses Leslie Young. There are more viewers here than their live stream. It's good. It's good. Matt Burns. Was it on ESP or NBC Sports the first year? I think it was. I think so. I honestly cannot remember. That's crazy thing. It's either that or like the Ocho 8, it was something, I mean, it was a it was a big deal. They did a lot. Oh, there it is. Crossfat. They paid to be on NBC.
So there you go. I mean, Will, here's your opportunity. Is that true? Can that be true that you paid to be on NBC or is that as you? Mentioned I would not be surprised Yeah, yeah. NBC Sports Network. Oh man, Grid's picking up steam, guys. Go tell. Go tell your friends so. Was she? So she was a Crossfitter, but then was she like a high level CrossFit or like CrossFit Games? Oh, look at this. Guy Taylor. John, you're up. Come. On Taylor was not a high level I
think. I can't remember if she ever made like how far she made it. She may have made it to like regionals back in the day. That Asian guy was on the behind the scenes of Norcal from last year. Yeah, that Asian dude is Matt Rattay. Oh, OK, yeah. If you go back to the central regional of 2017 or 2016, maybe there's a handstand walk event and he literally just like started sprinting it like it was insane and he ended up kind of struggling at the end.
He kind of over over gunned it, but the first couple of rounds was nuts watching it, so it was pretty cool. Oh, here we go. Yeah. Regionals 20/13/2014 and I think it was pop city and or she took that THC I'm not sure. We did count miss. They're saying rotate wrong on the street screen. How do you say rotate wrong it? Says they. All even though they're they were on different teams, they understand the sport. Yeah, I don't. I don't care. Why is Kay Lehman on the
podcast? Yeah, I don't think, I don't, I don't think I can be about a foot and a half taller than him so. I would definitely be up for. Ratty. Yeah, and this is a big break. What do you got going on? I was holding out hope that Kell would somehow, by some miracle of delusion, be at Syndicate. I was really disappointed to find out that he wouldn't be. 100% wish he was on. Hang on, I got to got to do something here. All good. Of course, I reached out to spin Kenneth.
What? To commentate grid, I was like, Brian, I have to do this thing with you. I have to do it. Why would you not want to? Yeah. Is this OK? That's that looks athletic. That looks tiring. That's it. That was it. What? Gosh. Oh man, look at this guys Jr. house in the house. Boom. What's up dude? What's up? Can you guys hear me? Yeah, you're going good. All right. See you Grant. Hey, that's mean. Have you ever watched Grid there JRI? Watched it back when it first started.
Yeah, that was like good old days. Back when she was back when she was competing the commentator. Yeah. Did you think it had ever had a chance? In the beginning, when so many of the like high level Crossfitters were doing it, yeah, I thought I had promise. And I mean, it was, it was fun to watch. Like in that it was exciting and you knew some of the athletes and what they were already good at. It didn't really take a whole lot of explaining. I remember going to a match in
Charlotte actually. And that first season. Yep, I remember Nick Urancar was on one of the teams and like that, a little meet and greet afterwards, it was cool, yeah. Cool. Yeah, I remember, I remember covering it back in the day and it was, I think the hard part is back then, especially when you had the top athletes, you wanted to see them shine and it and it got kind of masked in the teamwork aspect of it. Like you never saw anybody fail you never you you just was going so fast.
The matches were a much longer. They've condensed this down a lot. So yeah, I mean, when when Frazier's on a team, you want to see Frazier actually do some stuff and you're on there for 30 seconds and it kind of just moves on. So. Matches now are you said like an hour and 15. Hour 15 so they they're quick. Where are they at right now and has John been on the floor yet? John has been on the floor. The first two, they've lost both and then they did.
It's called a ringer where I guess A-Team can challenge or do something and like I, I don't fully understand it, but like it was literally 6 burpees to a nine foot target ring and that was it. Like the thing was we weren't even really paying attention. They finished in 25 seconds. So you know, John, is the movement standards are SUS to
say the least. I think, I think somebody said, the commentator said that the you don't have to fully lock out overhead on the kettlebell overhead, ground to overhead. What are they doing? Just like, basically like snatches from the floor. They just weren't going from the hang. Yeah, double, double. It was a double kettlebell over from ground to overhead. And I mean, they just literally just flung it up overhead and then just brought it back down. John did get some no reps on
his. Pistol, I think he was the only one. I think he was the only one to get no Rep. I think he has a knee, a knee asleep on one of his knees, so. It does not. He said he was showing off maybe a couple weeks ago and kind of tweaked his knee a little bit. He said that was the most demanding of all the knee flexion movements and that was the one that was going to be the the hardest. Jumping into a pistol would not. I mean I it literally hurts
thinking about that. Yeah, I mean, you know, looking at some of these movements and kind of wonder, I, I've asked before, especially when Tony was involved early on, like do you think there are movements that Tony always wanted to see Dave try, but Dave was like, it's a little too much in the gimmicky realm. So he did them and did that make Dave and the games team go, OK, they're doing freestanding
deficit handstand push ups. We will never do that, OK, They're doing back rolls to support. OK, we will never do that. OK, they're doing single leg box jumps or even like a pistol over PVC. OK, we'll never do that. Like which is kind of a shame because I wonder if some of that stuff would have eventually come out in in the sport of CrossFit and looking forward to like NCCI. Don't think they're afraid to push the envelope when it comes to stuff like that.
So I just wonder if like something as simple as a single leg box Trump or like doing some kind of freestanding handstand push up, but doing it on parallets or doing it on ballistic blocks, Like I just kind of wonder if that's something that's going to come. Oh, I, I definitely think nine years ago for sure, Dave was like, no, I don't want to do it. Tony did like, just like the butterfly ring, the muscle UPS, right, Or a backup rise, like those types of things.
I could see Tony being like, hey, why don't we try something like that? And Dave's like, no. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I don't know, Like that whole conversation you guys had the the week you were out. I mean, it's an interesting conversation because what if back in the day when Brett Marshall butterflied his pull up, someone was just like, wait, wait, wait, that's an uncommon movement. You have to Kip. That's the only thing you can do. You have to clearly change directions at the bottom.
So like to Tyler's point, why can't it just be dead hang to support? And that's the name of the Rep. It's just hang to support. That's what it's called. So you can, you can get to support however you want. You can do it with as long as your arms are locked to the bottom and your arms are locked to the top, it doesn't matter to us how you get there. I don't really understand why that would be a big deal because that's what we're saying when it's like, hey, dead hang at the bottom.
Make sure your chest touches the bar at the top. It doesn't matter how you get there. Right. Yeah. I mean it goes back to that whole story of or debate of how do you, do you tell people how to get from point A to point B or is it just get to point A to point B as most efficiently and as quickly as you can in most movements? It's that and then occasionally we say Nope, we are going to
dictate what it's like between. Yeah, I mean, like it'll be a it'll be a popular talking point because it it it already makes the movement that's already the most grind movement. High volume burpees become even more of like just a slog fest. Watching them at Syndicate do the hundreds workout with stepping over the bar like everyone you've seen post videos, Jason Shelby, anyone I've seen post video says is stepping over and it's like you can jump over if you want.
It's faster, but it probably hurts more going to the front squat. But why is that movement? Like, yeah, but what you do in the middle does matter. But then some other movements are like, like, I think it's more aesthetically pleasing to watch someone do toast a bar with their legs straight, but most people bend their knees.
So, you know, it's like it's it's just one of the I mean, it's AI think you're always going to have that in sports too, where you're like, yeah, each movement is different than it is. And, and I agree with that, the reason more so for the burpees, it's syndicate is because of what follows it. Like they're running 2 miles the next event and then the next event they're doing heavy dubs and then the next event they're doing high box jump over.
So like why would I make them jump 100 more times if they don't have to? I didn't know that that the step over was allowed, yeah. Yeah, First syndicate, right. That was a a new thing, I guess. I guess new. I want to say maybe at one of the European semis, the year they did, maybe it was the year they did the legless and the clean complex and everything else was up to the event organizers. But I want to say that they had a, a bar facing burpee and where you could just do whatever you
want. And it was a it was a popular talking point for sure. Yeah. Has I imagine. Go ahead, go ahead. Has there ever been burpees over the rower during competition? Like during CrossFit game season competition there hasn't has there? No, not that I know of. OK. Yeah, I'd always. Wondered why? For the Crucible qualifier, they did a hundreds workout this past year and it ended with 100 burpees over the erg and you saw people just stepping over
however they wanted. And I think Taylor even did it on Kill Taylor, which was cool. But it's like, yeah, it doesn't look good, but it just takes one more thing out of the equation. Bryson actually had a really good standard the other day. We were talking about how you would do a bar facing burpee with a clearer standard that would be easier to uphold. And I think his verbiage was both feet have to be higher than the height of the barbell at the same time during the movement.
So if you jump over, but you kind of lead with one and then follow with the other, that's a no Rep because one would be coming down while the other one's still going up. How hard would that be able to see in real time? I don't know, but it would force everyone to actually hop. It would force them to jump with two feet. Dude that affects me a lot personally. I don't know about other people but the hop is a lot harder than the little 1 foot than the next foot.
It's a lot more tiring for me. Yeah. Yeah, that's, I think it'd be really hard to judge because you'd have people that would skirt around it to some degree or to try to right or get get close to it. Right in, in, in the argument I've heard a lot, which is a good argument is like, well, in that workout, stepping over might be faster. So what are you're saying?
You can go faster to jump or you can go slower to step over the course of 100 reps Like Taylor stepped just to see what it was like when he tested it and he still went really, really, really fast. Like at the end of the day, if you're good at burpees, you're good at burpees.
But what the step does do is allow you to keep your heart rate a little bit lower, Probably makes it a little bit more muscular, limiting with all the pressing and then going into the front rack on the front squat's tough so. Yeah, looks like we're getting ready to start here. First time really on the rig it looks like. Why does it say 0 to 0? Because it's messed up. It should be 663 I think. 063 OK.
Yeah. Is this common in grid for them to do the same movement regardless of the sex 'cause I kind of like that they do. Yeah, the same load. Yeah, men and women are in, I think, everything except for Jack and Jill. And so Jack and Jill is all men, and then there's all women. But like, in this case, it's the same weight, but the women do front squats and the men do overhead squats. That's cool.
Yeah. I think back in the original grid there were more events and it's like men did stuff and then women did stuff. So John, we got John. Oh, there we go man, throwing John to these. Burpees Yeah, this is an interesting one. It looks like bandits are winning in this one. Yeah, it looks like it. Oh, there it is. Score in the back it says 4/2. I don't know what that ringer, what the whole point of that was, put a point up there for
it, but. I was thinking about for like a team competition doing the whole competition where men and women use the same weights the whole time, but you just change the movement. Like just like they just like maybe you have maybe have like 100 reps per time and the men have to snatch and the women have to clean. So like a male would power snatch 165, a female would power clean 165. You know what I mean? Something like that. I feel like the counter was off
because they are. The Lions have definitely caught up. Oh, here's the. Double. Touches double touch. That's one of the things like that's one of the movements to a double or a triple. Like was, was that going to be eventually a complex in CrossFit? But they're like, we're never going to do it now.
You know what I mean? Yeah, as long as I feel like when you do stuff like that, some of the stuff that they're doing, I feel like it almost disconnects the elite athletes from stuff that we even have the chance of doing. I cannot do that no matter what. Like I can do a ring muscle up, but as soon as you bring stuff like that up, I'm watching them do it and it's like, yeah, I can't do that ever. Like it's just not. Do you do those Jr.?
Can you do that stuff? I've never even tried a double or a triple touch just because I know that I'd end up getting a slap tear if I do that. Sophia's moving that weight. We won't worry. We won't look at the elbows. She yeah, she can lift heavy, man. I saw her judge come over and tell her right at the beginning there. She's she hasn't changed. My forearms hurt today just from I hadn't done hang snatches in a long time, and I'm sore today just from holding on to the
barbell for bigger sets. Yeah. I mean this. Come on, Sophia. Oh, that was the, I'm sorry. That was the, that was the other team started there. That judge came over and like, get your elbows up. Yeah. So is the Bandits have now lost all three of the first matches. Hey, did you know Sophia's background is like circus? No. She did the what's it called? Like the crazy gymnastics stuff? Like the Cirque du Soleil type stuff. Like yeah, the. Trapeze scrap. The trapeze.
She did the trapeze. No way. Yeah. That's crazy. Yeah, she's really got a a major gymnastics background. Oh, I think they're going to go, this is the one to do back-to-back. Oh, there it is, 7 to 3. So they got one point for the that ringer that time. So now they're doing it back-to-back. So it's like 2 events. Has to be a different pair I'm guessing. No, it could be the same. That looks like the same guy doing overhead squats. It does, yeah. It's just can you recover that
fast? Do you guys know as much about it? Like when they when they move through the grid to a new movement, is that when they can tag in and out or can they tag in and out at any time? They have to tag at the start finish line, so they have to go back to the start finish, but they can tag out at any point. But anytime they can, is there a, is there like a maximum number of like line changes kind of like in hockey? Like can they only do that twice a workout or three times a
workout? No, I think you can do it as many times as you want. It's just always slower. Just it's like. Oh, John's out. Yeah, that's probably good he couldn't do. That many herpes? He's winded right now. So that's interesting, the team, the Lions, the female is doing lateral to the box and everyone else is facing. Oh wow. Whoa, yeah. Like the lateral has to be faster. And she's only yeah, and she only has to touch with one foot. So she's just touching and coming right back off.
She's touched with two that time, but. Yeah, I just found out like a couple weeks ago that if you do bar or I'm sorry, box burpees, unless it says lateral, it's always facing. So I've basically been doing lateral burpees whenever it's supposed to be a box facing. It's it's interesting too, like after that quarterfinals workout last year, you know, the 5050 for three rounds when it was basically anyhow and people just like, OK, I have to do the lateral. Like I think that blew people up
more. I. Think a lot of people. Should have just faced because it they were able to with 150, they were able to keep way more of a piston pace. But I thought that was cool. Like that's one of the things about, I think when boss is doing the programming, that he might just throw something in there that's just a little bit like, yeah, I don't care, just get over the box however you want, like. I I actually like, I liked that workout. It was a slog. I was, I remember being really
just it was a slog. I liked it, though. Did you do that once, Ben? No, I watched Taylor almost die and then yeah, that's. Right spin. When are you? When are you driving over Knoxville? Are you going to wait and do it like? Friday. Thursday morning. So Grant. You're going to be there. Yeah, I will be. I'm going to be there on Thursday. I'm going to be staying with with John and his two buddies. I think John's staying at the house the first night.
And then I still don't know exactly where we're staying, but apparently I'm staying somewhere that's a surprise. Good planning. Yeah. There's another another two points for the Lions. Oh man, it's getting getting ugly. 9 to 4 crap. We'll be snuggling, Yeah, Roderick just said meme for time. Just he decided he was going because I guess paper St's going to be there now. We. Have a booth. Yeah, last minute thing. Oh, that's cool. Yeah, Wilson called up Gabe and they're going to do coffee
there, so yeah, it'll be cool. Vindicate will be there. He might have some. I saw he's going to have some crash shirts there. He might bring some barbell spin shirts. We'll see. So looking forward to it should be a good time. I'm definitely excited for that one because I'm not sure about the games. With a baby on the way I'm not sure if I'm going to be allowed to go or not so. Albany. Yeah, Albany. Kenneth Barbell spinach shirts, Yeah, vindicate.com.
Go look in the partner section, you get the no apologies shirt, and I think he still has a few of the original barbell spin shirts from back in the day, so check those out. JY barbell, JY barbell shirts. Those were there. Cross. Those cracked me up. Congrats on the sex, Grant. Thanks. Cross. Path. That's funny. Yeah. Siberian Kelly Bum the chose Wadapalooza, Tia Wadapalooza to go to this year instead of syndicate. Yeah, I'm on the syndicate one this time.
I think I'm most excited for Syndicate as an actual event, but the fact that Wadapalooza is in Florida, that that helps, you know, it feels like a vacation. And then everybody gets sick after that. And that'll be in March this year or in 2026. It will be the last. The last. If the open is the same time period, it'll be the the last weekend of the open. Are they going to get qualifying spots? Is that a a possibility? No, I don't think so. OK. Let's see what the oh, here's
the ladder. Let's listen to this. Element One row for males and one row for females. The weight increases as you move down the grid. Team send out one player at a time, alternating male and female, to perform the designated lift for the match format. Each successful lift has a point value that is added to the team's ladder score.
The point value is equal to the quadrant the barbell is sitting in. Players are allowed one lift attempt per quadrant and may skip any quadrant they choose, but are never allowed to backtrack once a barbell bell has passed. The team with the highest total point value at the end of the four minute time cap wins. This race is one of the most strategic and coach reliance of all of the races as a good game plan and in the moment decision making to manage. Time is everything.
Remember, lift heavier and score higher in the latter race. Lift heavier. Score Rusters. Wow from. Two O 5 to 265 for men, 130 to 175 for women. Dang, so it is it is time based. Back in the day they used to have like the men and women did the same ladder and it was like they had eight barbells I think it was and it was total weight at it. So it was like so difficult to try to keep track of this. You just get 1234 points based on which which square you're in.
But yeah, I think a lot of them will just do all four. Then they'll as it gets later on, they'll start skipping like the first one just to try to get more points in a shorter period of time and kind of give up that one point. Yeah. So. Speaking of somebody mentioned earlier, men and women. Did you say something about them doing the same weight but different movements? Was that what Jr. said?
Yeah, the the last one they did, they had the first quadrant was men did overhead squats and the women did front squats and then the the back it was like snatches and hang clean. So I think Jack Rosimah posted that he got beat by Ariel Lowen at the WFP because the challenger weight was the same as the women's weight in an event and she beat him with the same weight. I wonder if it was that sandbag workout. That I I I'm trying to remember which one it is. It it might have been the stand
bag. They both used 150. I bet, Yep, I bet that's what it was. I couldn't remember. And she's a pretty funny answer. Yeah, it's just crazy, though. You think about it. We're talking about a male Games athlete. Just wow. I mean, but then again, there's no weight on it. But I was even impressed when when Tia came in on the infamous first event at the last year's CrossFit Games, just smoking a bunch of dudes. I mean the monostructural I think makes sense.
Right. Yeah. Yeah, like for somebody like Tia. Yeah. I was still impressed. But when you start throwing the weights and it's the same weight and somebody can do that, yeah. Like that's nuts. And I get that she's faster on the the handstand walk piece of it, but you would think that the heavy sandbag would then maybe slow that down later on. But. Yeah. Apparently not. She is strong, and Grant knows about smoking a bunch of dudes crossfat. We just went over this.
I'm having a baby. I don't know about smoking dudes. You do both, yeah. Both. Oh, look at this. John is texting me in the middle of this. That's hilarious. Oh so it I just saw Pedro has a WFP debrief with Seth Page coming up in an hour. That's interesting that. 'D be good. Yeah, all. Right here we go. Matt Rotay makes his first appearance on The Grid. Stay off the comments, gosh. Dude, Matt was a strong dude too. He won the what was it the lift off at Wadapalooza back in the day?
Yeah, that tournament style. I like dropping it behind him. Yeah, Oh, they're going to win this one. Oh, there's it's I. I'm afraid the women are stronger on the Lions team. Dank. He just did 265 like it was nothing. I don't know, that's impressive to me. Maybe not everybody. That depth was questionable. Welcome to Grid. Yeah, they're looking at it too. She she looked at it good enough. She's. A little bit slower than the other woman. Yeah. Uh oh. Oh no. That's a problem. What?
So what's happening? They just keep, I mean it's like I keep it as like 3 minutes. Or like total pounds lifted or something I. Don't it's you get. You get 1234 points based on which you got in, but basically they don't have enough time to go through everybody perfectly, so you have to make a choice of what weights you hit, how fast are they lifting, moving through. That's an interesting 10. They decided to switch the
camera view away. Obviously the faster you go, the the more likely you're going to have, even if you're lifting maybe a little. Bit hey look at that. I'm always jealous of the external rotation with her wrists all the way outside of her elbows like that. On the on the bandits. On both teams, really, I can't, I definitely cannot do that. Oh, John, false start. Oh, that's good depth. There you go, John. He doesn't have the knee sleeve on, he said. Screw it. Dang, his look good.
There you go. He is getting a back in contention. He is moving faster. Yeah. The problem is you'll. Need a while? You'll need the Lions to fail or have somebody that's not very strong. Yeah. Well, can you do more? Can you end up with more lifts than the other team? Yeah. Yeah, if you just go faster. Yeah. So like if this woman here fails on the third, the bandits could overtake him. Oh no, another fail. That hurts. They really need a fail from the other squad.
That guy doesn't look like he's going to fail. Yeah, his movement looks really good. We're not really worried about that part of it, though. Yeah, it just made me think he wasn't going to fail with how good he looked. Yeah. 4 points. It seems like they all have pretty darn. I think you probably need excellent mobility. I think John even has pretty good mobility, doesn't he he?
Has very good mobility. Yeah. So did they do similar stuff to this when they had the original grid league or was it totally different? No, it was, it was like they had all 8 barbells, so you just went back and forth between the them. So like the women only would do like one through 4 and the men would do like 5 through 8. They could do one through 4 if they wanted to. Another fail. Yeah. He was moving really fast too, because it was. The He needed that though. They could have won.
Yeah, they lost by one freaking point. Dang. All right, guys, it's been. I got to jump off. I was just trying to get on for a second. Appreciate it man. Thank you for. Thanks. See ya. Have fun, guys. All right, see ya see. Ya Jr. Hell guess man. I'm trying to find out from John if Mr. Sroka is there booing him like he said he was going to. I don't know that chick is cross fat. She she does a podcast. John was on it. Oh, really? Yeah, what is it called?
Grid like the Gridlocked podcast. Yeah, I looked up. Sorry to be random but whatever. I looked up the. So did you know WFP uses drug free sport international? Yeah, same as CrossFit. Yeah. So it looks like you can you absolutely specify like which substances that you test for. I really want to find out if they chose to have marijuana on their tests. Well they would have. They probably would not have included in the out of competition ones because it's technically allowed.
The question is it would they? Did they have it set up to be tested? Yeah. Last weekend. I'm just curious if the athletes get their results or how that works. Like full like Here's what you were tested for. You pass fail. Yeah, Kevin Doyle. What podcast hasn't John been on? It's a good question. There's there's less of those than the ones that he has, but. The man likes to podcast. Crossfat, why is the floor announcer look like an old timey boxer Boxing announcer? I don't know.
It looks good though. Maybe I'll wear that for Syndicate if there's enough time to rent to Tux. Do you have any specific tasks or anything that you're doing there? Podcasts. We are doing the spin early on the so we'll, we'll open the day every morning with the spin to kind of give everybody a preview of, of what's coming up. It'll be on the Sivan podcast. And then I will be doing the, let's say first two heats of
each. I don't want to call them trash heats, but I'll be doing the first two heats of men and women. So I have to figure out some of the people that. You know are. We going to be in that and be able to talk to them. It'll be me and Tyler. Yeah, and a third the first, and then like, I think maybe Hiller may step in there, Pedro be in there a bit. And then once it gets to the real deal, I'll step aside and let Bill and Savon and John and whoever else actually do the real commentary.
So is Savon's going to be doing commentary then? I didn't know if he'd be doing that or. I think so. I believe so. I've not been too involved. I was just told get ready. You're going to be doing some. I think. I think when we're on there, it's going to be a little bit more relaxed than like an official broadcast more, more kind of like this versus, you know, a true play by play announcer like bro can do. We'll let the pros do the.
Pros I'm actually, I'm excited to be there, but if I wasn't there I would have had fun watching the the podcast just screaming all day. Yeah, Crossfat does Grant know the story of Cherie Chan's. Nope. Positive drug test. If it's before 2022, probably not. Cherie Chan claimed If I think this is the right one, if CrossFit is asking, I'm I'm remembering it right. She got it through a male encounter. Wow. That was that was her defense, that she had not actually
ingested a yeah herself. It was that. That's that's new though. That's that's new. I haven't heard that one. Yeah. I think actually and then Emily Abbott said it was from kissing her boyfriend who? Oh, that's ridiculous. I, I, I want to believe Cheris. It's so ridiculous. I almost feel like I have to believe it. If it's time, typically possible it. Didn't work, did she did not got it. She did not get away from get away from it. So. Who's the guy?
And I know who it is, I just can't remember his name that Hitler went and visit who got pop like 3 or 4 years ago. Don't remember, she made the games and popped at USAW. Yeah, the guy who lives in Vegas now, he's huge. It was a different, it was a different kind of kissing, though, right? Crossfat. Yeah, yeah. Phil Tune. That's right. I was thinking of Phil. Yeah. Yeah. I remember, I specifically remember that video because Hiller's videos have changed a lot since then.
I remember watching that video and being like, why aren't you pushing him? This guy is clear. And so like he was new to those types of videos and now he, he asks very direct questions because it was so obvious. Phil was like just juicing out of his mind, you know? Yeah. I don't really know if it would. OK, here we go. This could be one of those like one person super fast, 6 triple touches, 3 aerial hurdles over 80 feet. OK, I'll just watch and find out
what the heck's. Going on, yeah, it's a, it's a good one, Kenneth. It's an early one. I like the Haley, Haley Adams one. That was good. One, this guy's just not fast enough. The bandits like he can do it, which is not easy, but the speed at which he does it is too slow. Yep. If only they. That was a no Rep. Yeah, she's calling him back. He didn't lock out. Dang. So they're going to actually lose a point over that. I think maybe 10%, yeah, that that's probably 10%.
So what like 40 seconds would be 4 seconds? Yeah, it's super. Fun. They're going to. They're going to lose it over that. That sucks. Yeah, if somebody's watching a new RA gymnastics ninja, my guess is that the Bandits would take you if you want to go travel to Texas next month. They've got people who can do the stuff they just, they just need a little bit of. If only they had a guy that was like 5 foot 2 on their team.
Right. I wonder how much of this stuff he can do very quickly without practice. Kale. Oh no, I'm talking about Colton actually, but he's not 5 foot 2 because they'll have Colton Kale. Is supposed to be on the team. Yeah, I'm sure he's good enough to be. Here's Jack and Jill. That increase in difficulty moving down the grid. 1 male and one female are allowed on the grid at any given time, and only one player can be working at a
time. The team can only move on to the next station when the previous station is complete. This race is the simplest when it comes to rules, but the most reliant on player skill and speed as the hyper specialists often make the difference in the race. Remember, let the body weight ninjas fly in the Jack and Jill race. Dick Lavery here, active duty dream beret. Army special Forces and Co founder of. Co founder. Was that a burpee backflap I just saw? Yes. That's insane.
I made a meme with James Sprague and it it was a joke like burpee backflip. We were one upping each other and I didn't know it actually existed. Didn't James like almost break his ankle doing that? It no with with. Frazier. Yeah, no, he actually, he actually heard it. I think he was still hurt during the open a little bit. Yeah, he was. Yeah. Handstand walks with sled. The handstand walks with sled are so cool. I'm not sure I didn't.
What? Some of the wall balls between the legs, Yeah. Oh wow. That's true, Kenneth. The lap these uniforms are so bad, hey, but they have a ton of sponsors on the back, so that's all that that matters. Yeah, so many that you can't read what any of them are. Yeah, Crossfat, they made the guys at Big Sky. If you haven't watched that Grant, you need to go back and watch. I have. I have. That's with the lift off or whatever. No, they just had a bunch of it was like an affiliate gathering.
They had a bunch of athletes out there and just did a whole bunch of cool stuff the whole time. Guys at Big Sky do back handsprings main site 1. Who was there at Big Sky? I want to know if I'm thinking of the same thing. I mean, it was Rich Dan. Dan and they were the whole. Crew of everybody. Is that the one where they were like lifting and Dave told them to keep going? It was like night time almost. They were lifting. No, that's, I think that's the road versus again faster a Tahoe
throw down. Got it. If you guys, if you guys want to keep watching Kelsey Keel, if you're a big fan of her, she is competing at one of the later matches. Rob Orlando. Yeah, Rob's been dealing with his own medical issues here recently, which is crazy. So John sponsors HGRCBDI, think is one of them. HGRCB. D Yeah, there you go. Oh, that was I think you might be right. Did it? Heavy Grace. Justin Kotler told me to take a gummy on Instagram. Did he careful?
Have a gummy pal. Careful, I remember mean for time he showed his pack of vitamins he was taking. He got shadow banned for 90 days. Oh, that's right, yeah. It's two years ago. Oh, here we go. Leslie Young would know. HGRCBD Monster games DA peptides. Monster Games. That's what is his name. Is it Jason Ainsley? Yeah, that's the the World Fitness Project, dude. He's actually a nice dude.
And that's a, that's a a really good local event that a lot of people around here in the Midwest participate in. OK. Will they bring the light show this year? I. Don't think so. It's a little bit. It's I think their budget, more matches is is more realistic for what they get there. Real quick Mr. Waffle Walrus that great will kill him and start competing in grid league. He was supposed to be on the bandits. Yeah. And it didn't pan out for whatever reason. Here we go.
How do the? I didn't. What is going on? I'm so confused. We're alive. I wonder if they had a mistake and they have to redo it. I bet they challenged it and said that he didn't. Oh. He challenged that last Rep. Well, if he challenged it, he he lost because he wasn't locked out. It's grid there, Grant. Yeah. So he's they're probably trying to get the one point to be close enough. He's they might not have got it. Yeah, I have no idea. Oh, man.
They're they're talking to John. No, I know they're. Trash talking to John Look. At John, they yeah, he like stopped right before the finish line too, but that doesn't seem smart when you're trying to he like taunted them by stopping completely right before the finish line and then stepping in. Yeah. All right, here we go. Jack and Jill, 30 bar muscle UPS, 20 ring muscle UPS, 5 backwards roll to support.
I think it was this one that when we were watching the championship last year, one of the teams had somebody get hurt that could, they had nobody else to do the backwards roll to support. So they literally did not do this workout. Wow. And we were very angry at it. We thought there should be a minimum work requirement, but they did not. Josh think this media coverage is better than CrossFit Games. I mean, we're doing pretty good ourselves, but I don't know
about the actual broadcast. I do know that Chase has never worn a bow tie while doing the play by play or color commentary. So I think if he wants to step up his game this year, he needs to wear a bow tie. So Chase, I know you're watching. We're going to get you dressed up, bow tie and all. Bow tie. That's right, I feel like this is taking a little bit longer than it's supposed to. Yeah, that that challenge might have thrown a little bit behind.
I'll keep it muted for you guys so you don't have to, uh, listen to that dude talk. Back to this the Houston Bandits team Colt Mertens they say use a real photo of him this time instead of the AI version. I froze. You froze. Where are you? Can you see me now or no? Yeah, you're still good. OK, everything froze for me for a second. The Internet must have paused on me. Rebooted Crossfat. Doubt the footage can be found, but one year Rory and Welborn did the Socal regional
commentary. Some entertaining stuff that had to be like 2011 baby. Griffin stuffy Isn't there a thing that you can do where you can choose to do an event again to gain more points? Almost like the opposite idea of a challenge. I I think it's you don't get do it again, but you can like throw a flag and it's worth like double. I think it's how it works. So beer and Kelly, is Megan Medeiros related to Justin? Not at her name spot like that. Madarius I don't.
I don't think so. But all right, here we go. Tommy Payne John is doing fine. I wouldn't say he's standing out. Anyway. The Bandits have yet to win in a match or an event or a challenge. That was weird, that girl on the other team took like way longer to get the. Glide Kip over there for the bandits. Oh wow. Oh yes, straight up glide, Kip. Yeah. And just note, the lockout is just completely away from the bar. That's crazy. Close enough. Arms are straight. We're good.
All right again. The bandits have started out strong, but can they finish? She is literally carrying the team. I think right now bro needs to learn his glide Kip. Come on dude, what is he need to I don't. Understand what he's doing. He's no, he's he's. He's fine. He was like waiting for her for some reason. Is there some sort of? I feel like the count is wrong because I keep showing that, like, the lions are behind and then they'll see, you know, they're on the next element.
Yeah, Oh jeez. Oh my God. Oh no. So they're switching out now. Dang, Sophia come to save the day. Hey, she did her we did 50 muscles for time and she did it really fast for Heller Fett. She did. A lot. 6 minutes. There we go. Oh, look at this guy. And the chick is doing it too. Oh, those look sloppy. I know what is. I don't. I don't even know what has. Happened. I don't. I think they're going too fast. Were those even reps? That was like. I don't know.
That was close to. Oh no, no, this is ugly. Why? I mean, John, keep coming and do this. They got to save John for. Oh wait, it's not OK. It's not regular muscle UPS. No, it can be. He's just trying to be faster. Oh, I see. But the Lions are almost done. They only have to do five of these. I think that's the 5th. Yeah. Or 4th Oh, that was a oh. Yeah, that was a fail for sure. Look how much this no the rings. Yeah. The Two's rotator cuff is in danger. Yeah, both of them. Oh, he failed.
He failed too, I think because it's to support. Yeah. There, he's not in the support part. Wow, can they catch up? I think Houston slows like 10 muscle up so no. Yeah, no. Oh, she got it. Oh, the time cap. Wow. Oof. I don't know what even. I don't even know what happens, how many points they get for that. Maybe it'll tell us what's happening. I know it wasn't planned, but was it expected? Absolutely not. Not on either side, really. Yeah.
Yes, especially if I have to say one side more than the other. Definitely not on the lions after this. I mean, Paula, Leia, it used to be called, you know, Jill from Jack and Jill. So that was interesting to see. So now we're going to see how the females fare against each other. We're looking forward to the triad. Zero points. 0 points each. There's still three things left. She just said. 3. Stations must be completed individually. 3 players can be
on the grid at any given time. All players can perform at any station and in any order, but all of the designated reps must be performed at each station. All three stations of each element must be complete before the team can move on to the next element. The Triad is all about player conditioning and managing fatigue across the team. The best strategy ensures players have enough left in the tank for the last element and has backup plans for when things
inevitably go wrong. Remember, try to catch your breath in the Triad race. They said things did not go expected, especially for the other team, not the Bandits, which is like a an accidental roast because they got beat by. Ten. Yeah, I think you're going to. Say the bandits. Right, let's see, let's see. I have no idea what just happened. Neither team finished in the time cap. So that nobody that gets a point, it's your. That was a weird one. Siberian Kelly has a good
question. Would Colton get picked up to reach the rings? Maybe so, yeah. Maybe Crossfat. Surprised that this never took off. Yeah. Two points if you win, one point if you finish within the time cap. Who comes up with these events? I think a guy named Mather Sergeant GZ. How is John doing? I just texted John. First of all, John, Mistress Ruka is not there booing, so he
he's not doing that. John says that he feels like something's happening a little small every time, costing them points, and that he's feels like he is doing his part. So he feels, I guess he's feeling good about his own performance. Yeah. And that some things are just small mistakes here and there. I'm doing my job. It's all them, yeah. Do we need to resubscribe to Ollipop? I don't even know. I've not even really seen sponsors on the like. I've not seen Ollipop on here
this year. Maybe we were ruining it for him. I don't know. I bet this was way more entertaining when they had the top athlete, top Games athletes competing. Sure. I tried watching back in the day. Again, like I said, when Jr. was on the hard part was it moves so fast and you don't really get a chance to really stand out because you're moving so fast that you just don't know. You don't like to see that lollipop was all over that coverage. Well, I haven't seen it. So.
But not working. So now you. You. Yeah. Back in the day, you you at least knew the people, a lot of them. But you just didn't really get to watch. All right, here we go. The triad, the women. So it's going to be the women and the men. And I think then the final is right after that. Cuttable snatches, pullovers, wall balls, handstand ramp and hang squat cleans. Jeff Jeff Oh, I use those funds for we prefer the hate $8 program. Dude, those are not easy
workouts so check those out. They move on with this thing and they're they're they're dragging this out. But I appreciate you guys for watching with us. It's something. What do you think, Grant you? Is this something you're going to tune in after this and watch? I mean, I'll watch John and, you know, there's some intrigue certainly with with Colton, even if John weren't there, if Colton were there, but. Does Grant Does Grant have a dog? I don't it's dead.
It died like a week ago. Thanks for asking. God, that's rough. It's it's from the parents though. He we didn't bring him with us here, so not really. My dog, now that the dog that's barking is mine that actually outside. We are celebrating my son's birthday after this intriguing grid match. His birthday is actually next week, but the parents are in town and are. My wife's niece is in town with her dog and so we have 4 dogs and they are literally just running around barking the
entire time. Oh. That sounds great. Yeah, it's, it's something. So Yep, Yep, my youngest one turns 13. He is officially a teenager in a Week Next. Next. Friday. So he'll be at Syndicate Crown celebrating his birthday. So that's exciting. Summer Vine bringing everybody down. My dog passed away last Saturday. Sorry, Summer. Never fun at all, yeah? John, sitting on the box calendar. We're at 47 so far, 47. Here we go. There's there's Alipop right there. Oh, there it is.
Yeah, I. Just haven't seen a commercial of it. And peachy. I don't know what peachy is. They're the ones that provide the uniforms, I believe. So if you want really tight shorts like John, head over to Peachy Athletics. Yeah. The lions there on the right near the center of the screen is a little scary. It's crazy. This is where Jason Hopper would sit out if you triad. Is she even extending what they don't have to extend? Well, you have to get over bro.
I don't think you realize the movement standards of this. You're doing some wall balls like high rocks. Depth is questionable right there on the Alliance. Looks a little bit better from this angle. So we give her the benefit of the doubt. But yeah, these are to a 10 foot target though, so you do not get the 9 foot target if you are a woman, so. Yeah. You can deal with that handstand walk in I. Think I'd rather that than a 30 LB ball. 30 LB balls are brutal for wall balls.
Yes. Are the bandits winning? It seems. It seems that way. Yeah, They're on the What was that? They failed too. Wow, they're way ahead. Oh, what the heck. They can get two points here. I don't think they have enough to actually. I think I think it's pretty much out of reach. But it'd be nice to get at least two points on the board once. Yeah, the counter is no longer out there, so it's a little tough to see. There it is. The Bandits get 2 points. The question is, can the Lions
finish in the time cap? There's no clock, though. Even if there was, I wouldn't know how much time they have. Oh, oh, oh, give her the penalty. Give her the penalty. Oh, it's so close. She was in the she was in there. Deduct points. Wow, that should be too. That's right, Josh. They just don't have to do movements correctly. It's. They kind of do, Josh. I don't. Understand they don't have to do movements correctly. They are the standards are
different. I guess this is the best way of putting it. Kind of subjective. Nicole with the braid is Ajy barbell athlete OK? Her date I'm. Doing this Judge is wearing a black dress. Staying classy. Let's listen to what's. The door, baby, how's it feel? It feels so good. It was a wonderful feeling. So tell the people about yourself a little bit. They may not be familiar. With you when it comes to the. Grid. What are you thinking? Man, so I'm just excited to be here.
I love how fast-paced it is. I love that it's teamwork. It's really cool to see our teammates like do something that they've worked hard on. It's just really fun to be here. I'm happy to be a part of it. What is your goals for your team? What do you think? Oh my gosh, I just want to to prove that we belong here. I feel like there's been so much speculation whether we win right now or not, like we're holding our own against the Lions. It's just a huge deal. So I'm just really proud of
that. I love it. Thank you for your energy and we'll see you again. Thank you so much folks. The The Zhangyang interview is coming hold. On back to the desk. Oh yeah, there we go. Yes. Let's bring it, bring that interview. That's what we've been waiting for, Leslie keeping him humble though he has got to win that event 1st. All right, hey guys, when John hits the interview, we got to throw in some tacos, Taco emojis, Taco Taco Bell.
That is going to be the word when John is interviewed. So hold off for now. Just wait, just wait. But when we see the John Young interview, that is where we go. That'll be good. Yeah. Sabir and Kelly, everybody knows about John Young. Whether they like John Young is a different story. Fish tacos. I don't know if Jon would would go with the fish. What do you think? John seems like a, you know, just regular beef or steak guy. Yeah, me. It's beef and beef and lettuce
and some hot sauce and. Although I don't know, in Texas they might have fish tacos. Yeah, that's a special day for John. Yeah. All right, the men. Who's going to do the pullovers for the men? Jessica Valenzuela, Mitchell Hooper Punch in the air for all the positive publicity JY is getting. He did you watch his video, his vlog afterwards? No, I I don't watch anything he puts out. Yeah, he said.
Basically, you know, I my head just wasn't in it and you know it. The harder thing is getting out of bed every day in the morning he was like very, I guess what's the word self, self pity or what not. That's good. All right, John, He's getting, he's ready. Self pitying, Here we go. Got that? Grid body man. Yeah, the ABS have left the building. That's OK. Hey, you don't need you don't need ABS for this. Yeah, just got to move fast.
Sabir and Kelly, the way the bow tie bow tie guy said it came across like JY is the star of the show, the one everyone is waiting for. So proud of them. I will say John is definitely accrued a quite the number of viewers. They have 438 watching on there. We got 350 watching here. It's a it's a good show. Lee Frazier, thank you. Thank you for the support 999, appreciate it. Wow, they have 295,000 subscribers amassed over the years I guess.
So as you can tell, their stuff is so fast it really works well for the shorts. I see. And so they put these clips on and people just like see people doing this crazy thing and they follow it. It doesn't translate into long form content. Another just side note, if you look at the thumbnails of all of their matches, you'll see a common trend of what they feature. I have an idea. Yep, there we go. Smart, smart. Let's just say the men are not prominently featured.
Here we go. John Young right there in the middle of the Houston Bandits. We're doing a whole bunch of kettlebell snatches and then somebody will then move on to the the three guys will move on to the pullovers where you don't have to lock out. Does not matter. Some handstand walking over the stairs which we will see at Syndicate Crown and then we'll finish up with some hanging snatches. I'm going to record myself
having sex. That's all I saw from Pedro the Second. Coffee pots and wads if that's how it works. Fast videos for shorts. I'm going to record myself having sex. Hey, I mean maybe that works for. You. Marco Cauldron, pull over. Pull over. It's a cardigan. Thanks for this. Sure, if you want John with the wall balls. Depth is questionable for John, but it's grid so we're fine. It's it's like Danny, man. It's just the size of the legs. Yeah.
Tell me you have small legs. Yeah, you know, it is interesting when when the knees go forward and you're like hitting the back of your leg, but it's not down. Can't go any further. Yeah, yeah, I've, I've. All right, here we go. Matt Rattay here he goes over. Look at this dude. Oh my God. Wow, you were smoking good. That's nuts. Here we go. I mean, they're not bad either, but Dang that was. Oh hang squat cleans Bayon. It's in the in the lead. I'll say rotate just as fast as
he was. He is super strong for this. Again, he won this Olympic weightlifting called liftoff it at Miami back in the day. It was like a tournament style where is like I think they did like a snatch maybe the first round, then a clean the next and then a clean and jerk the finals or something like that. But he beat out some pretty impressive people. So he is definitely super strong. There it is, the bandits 2 points again. Man, I can see how people cross
the line early. They all got to like hold each other. Yeah, the part of the hard part is if you, if you fail a Rep and you're expecting it and you get a no Rep or something like that, that's where you really kind of get, you know, kind of just anxious to get in the finish line. And then what happens if you? I think you have to go all the way back to the start line and come back. So you have to, you have to go back and whatever. So like a run back?
And yeah, yeah, Janine, Mighty Mouse, my coach. There we go. Now there are three judges. Oh, is that a challenge flag? Looks like it. Let's see what they but we will. Oh, here we go go to the comments guys. Tacos. For John Young. We're. Here with John Young, you already know what time it is. This is the one they've been asking for. You're here, dude. You got your fans online. The chat is hot. Talk to him, baby. How you feeling? I'm glad we finally could win a
couple matches. We got really good talent. We just got to fix execution, Harrison. I mean, I think we could beat a lot of people, but the Lions are a very great team. I'm glad Matt got to show off. He would have done something on the rings if we would have got there, Matt. Flu. Now my question is, why someone? Why is everybody so hyped? Why do they want to see John Young on the grid? You're about to see with these players. You're about to see with these three good team plays.
OK. Finally, what do you think is ready? Are you ready? Is the team ready to go for the championship? I think we got work to do. I'm not going to say we're in for the championship. I think, I think we're a lot closer than the score says, but give us a couple months and I think we can make it noise and we make the playoffs. I agree. Great job, John. Good to see you on the grid and congratulations on your first win. Appreciate. It love you guys. John Young folks, we'll be right
back. Look at those tacos. He sounds winded. We will. Why is he winded? This number of tacos in the chat. Yeah. Is wild good job guys that is amazing John was on the struggle bus there catching his breath one final workout left that's. Right. And this is the one, right? John made the big time. That's right, Sylvan. And this is the one, right? The the one we're waiting for. Yeah, that's like, so they'll do a bunch of stuff and then the
last one is like heavy cleans. Like I think it's like 3 heavy cleans or something so. Exciting. Here we go. Here we go. Like is a great balance of strategy to decide which players in what order are the best combination along with clean and well executed elements by the players to lead to the best race outcome for the team. Remember, 4 men and four women must finish the 8 elements in the screen relay. There's 8 different things. Unlike American football.
Dude, the tacos are still raining down into the live chat. I'm just on like one every 20 seconds or so. Yeah, it's good. Tacos still flying 100%. That is that. You know when you look at when you, when you do a live show, you can look at the back end, right? And you can see like the concurrent viewers throughout the time and you can see the live chats per minute or whatever, like kind of a graph
form. Like if they actually do look at their analytics and they go look like obviously you see it, but I they imagine the spike of comments has to be unreal. Yeah, that's. True, that's. Funny. That is, that is good stuff. I just don't understand why he chose Taco Bell of all the places. Like, I mean, if you want to pick out or whatever, go to just go to like five guys, get a double cheeseburger. That's two health fries, two health. Like why the Taco Bell?
Yeah, I'm going to say maybe Taco Bell is is the the blame for their slow. Start. It very well could be. That's huge jumping views when he got on. How isn't that wild? How like all of a sudden like people just start tuning in at the exact right moment. Is anyone in the chat? Like WTF with these tacos? I can't. I don't think so. United, Greg. United, Greg lead. Well, I can't say it Fridley. Seriously, you have Taco trolls. Oh, there we go. Somebody thinks they have Taco trolls.
I mean, I guess technically they do. What emoji nonsense is this? So yes, there are a few. There are a few. People, yeah. I have to imagine most people know what's going on though. Here we go, a 60 LB double dumbbell shoulder to the overhead, £100 D ball squats, back up rise, legless rope climbs, flip sled, flip sled, plus 100 lbs chest of our pull ups, 45 LB plate handstand, step overs and 315 LB cleans. Three of them. So that's where we'll see, John.
So each element has to be done. Once you, if you do the last Rep, you have to go back, touch the start line, then run to the finish line and you are officially done. Now you can sub out, I believe in between the movements usually doesn't happen, but sometimes it does. So you could do like 9, have somebody that you think is weaker come in and finish the last shoulder to overhead finish
and then they're out. And that person that did the 9 should then maybe do whatever rope climbs or flip sleds so. This will be a fun one. I'm. Excited it's it is it is again, it's it is more singular focused so you can see somebody do like you see one person do the work. It's just going really fast. Atlanta team punching the air right now. That is Mr. Soroka's team. So let's go pull this back on full screen so we can see the the full action. We got to be starting up here
pretty soon. So appreciate you guys hanging out with us a little bit longer than what I was told it was going to be. But I think they had some technical difficulties with maybe a challenge and a redo of a couple things. So that's. True, they must have failed that the last challenge we saw, we saw a flag, but then there was no redo, I'm assuming. Yeah, Summer. That was not his choice. That is Taco Bell. Me. Guarantee he would have gone to McDonald's, hands down.
So somebody else must be a big Taco Bell fan. But John's not one turn down. I just I. Honestly, don't get it. Like I, if I, if I want something good, I'm going to go get like a burrito from Chipotle with like the queso and all that and that. That's like acceptable in society like Taco Bell and McDonald's. It's like. The night before IA a competition. It's anti social behavior is what it is man. I mean, Dustin's not wrong. You can get four times the food
at Taco Bell for half price. Yeah, I get that part. That's true. But John is a sponsored athlete. He probably is rolling in it now so. Yeah, or Chick-fil-A. I get the two. I get 2 sandwiches. Better option. Yeah. Come on, guys, we need to. We need to get going. I got some birthday cake to eat. Got up with Gustus always starting crap, yeah. Right out of options. So I just said, hey, Grant, why don't you do this? He's like. And of course I didn't have any responsibility so.
Yeah, oh, Brock Kirby, there will absolutely not be Taco Bell in Knoxville. He's one of the the roommates. Oh, OK. Yeah. I mean, if John's with you that you cannot rule that out. You can't rule it out. Careful. Yeah. All right, come on, guys. It must be the first, first match of the season, kind of. Yeah. Slowness has got to be what it is. I mean, Houston should be. I'm super excited for Houston. Just to see Colton doing this is going to be fun. I don't know how much.
Do you have any idea how many of the things he's going to do just. That one, I think just that one. There's only three weekends I think and then the play offs. She pay you, Brian? I charge by the hour, yeah. You're thinking of the wrong Brian. Oh, it's true. Yeah. He wasn't happy with me last last week. No. So was that, oh, maybe the wrong thing? Yeah. Yeah, it happens. It happens. All right, come on, guys. Transition time is slow.
This one might take a while to. Would it take a while to set up? They have it all set up. I don't know what they're doing. One match is a double header in Texas. What does that mean? One match is a double header. Oh, next next time I think they're doing 2. They do like back to like do they all play on Saturday and they all do another match on. Summer, something like that. What part? What part of Florida is this in? This is in Miami. OK, Yeah.
All right, here we go. Now we're getting to it. 1711 is out of range. This is just for pride for the Houston Bandits. I don't know, maybe there's some point, some tiebreakers. Just give me flashbacks from the workout you beat me in last week. Oh, that one. Yeah. Yeah. So. So here we go. There the women are going to do just one just to get out of the way. The men will do another happy element. What? Is that is that a heavy medicine ball? Hundred 100 LB. Medicine Ball. Oh wow.
Not, oh look, they're not. They're making the bandits hold with one arm and the other one does not. I'd call a big old. I'd call it. What the heck? I'll be losing my mind back up Rise. They're not even blocking out OK. They didn't on the pullovers either, whatever you call them. Come on, rotate, get your last one. Nope. What? Oh no, he took a lot. The other dudes failing too. That was weird looking, wow. Man. I I just that would be like immediate sore shoulders, like just crazy.
What is come on what? What is that? Oh no. What? Oh, he had failed again. Dang, he's. Probably the only one on the team that can do them too. No, I just thought I saw John poster real of him doing him. Well, the problem is if John does that last one. Yeah. Then he's out. Yeah. And so then there's some nobody left with the 315 LB cleans. Look at this. This looks unsafe. Just fling in a bag. Oh, this is not good. Even if John doesn't get it get to go. What did he do?
He he got like a no Rep or something. This is going to be the biggest let down if Jon doesn't get to go because Matt Rattay can't. Oh, that would be. Hit the last What are they doing? What's happening? Oh come on dude. They should show the throw the penalty flag because they had the different rules on the the D ball hold. Definitely. Make them redo it. Uh. Oh, she just got called back. She got a no Rep. This reminds me, this is a hot
mess. This is not not Caleb Boots says this is. This looks unsafe. What is happening? I don't understand. He can't even grip the rings. He's done it twice now. What's going on? Or is he doing something? Wrong. I think he's completely gassed. This is like when you see somebody with one rope climb left strict rope and they just. Catching David's daughter. Staring at the rope. Yeah. Dudes, dude, where was the flip sled? They literally have to put somebody else in who can do it.
Anybody. Did they do a flip sled already? Like you're it's going to be over. We're not going to get to see John. I'm so mad. Oh. My God. This is like the worst possible thing. Oh. Man. Wow. Just let John do the three cleans come. On I'm so mad like this was John is probably so mad. I'm mad for John, I'm mad for myself. Jeanine Matt has an old shoulder injury. I'm scared it just came back now. Oh, that'll be bad. Brent Fukowski gas is gasping
somewhere. Yeah, this is not PFAA approved. Are we sure that's it? That's like, literally. Yeah, that is it. That's the worst possible way for this to end. Yeah, we are done. That's what I was here for, the cleans. Literally we could have started 10 minutes ago just to watch that. We literally made it an hour 47 and we have not seen it. Yeah Dang, I know John was excited for those cleans. Yeah, he's been training for that. I wanted to see 3 unbroken cleans. Oh man, that is a bummer.
Were they just regular cleanse? Yeah, but 3-15 so. Yeah, I do have to wonder what Leslie said there. That didn't look like normal burned out. I wonder if he did hurt his shoulder because I mean he literally couldn't even grip the rings right and get it kept going. What are we doing?
We did Augustus. We did see John a lot, but we didn't get to see him do the main thing that we wanted to see him do. John was definitely more prominent the 1st 2 events or two heats or two matches or two workouts, whatever you want to call it, and then he was on the ladder. I feel so unfulfilled. I think that's it. I wish there was a way for them to mitigate something like this happening because it's a bad ending. It's not. It's not as entertaining. Super.
Unfortunate. I yeah, I guess we'll have to ask John later, but I'm, I'm just wondering why somebody couldn't be subbed in. You say if they go then they can't go again, right? Right. Yeah. But like why couldn't it would have to be a different another male or I'm just wondering why didn't like Sophia go in or something? Yeah, somebody else has it. Yeah, I don't know. Yeah, I'll have to ask later. Oh well, guess that's it.
So I don't think they're going to, I don't know if I can't tell if they're trying to appeal, but. Is there a flag anywhere? I don't see a flag. Yeah, it doesn't look like it's. Doesn't feel like it's over. Let's see what they have to say. Yeah, let's let's, yeah, let's listen. I don't know what they're doing. I couldn't hear anything. Were you just playing it? Yeah, it's. It's live. It's now. Oh, there we go. I thought it was frozen. I thought they may have turned it off.
Let's see what this woman's doing with the wall ball. Is she taking it off? It looks like she's just like I'm out walking away. It is over. Dang. Yep, they are shutting down. Let's see what Matt Rattay's doing up there. They going to shake him? Oh, he's trying to. Show, yeah, you're OK now, huh? Sweet that John's head. The back of his head. That is, that is John and Leslie do. Something just sneak some Rogaine in the in the shower there, Leslie.
Now, I'm not one to talk, but I'm just saying he's young and that is reversible. That's all I'm saying, Leslie. There it is, up there, shaking hands. We are done. Man, that sucks. Oh well, happens. That is it. All right, guys. Well, thanks for tuning in. The Houston Bandits lose to the Fort Lauderdale Lions. I guess they're supposed to be one of the better teams.
