This week's episode is, what animated women want? Episode RABF08 Originally aired April fourteenth is 20 13 written by J Stewart Byrne struck by Steven Dean Moore, received a 2.3 rating with 4100000.0 viewers. The couch guy is the special intro in Ama Homage to breaking bad camera resumes out at the end to reveal live action characters were Walter white Jesse Pink, sitting on a couch drinking beer and watching the Simpsons on television. Yes. Betas are better than that.

And it's basically a montage of, like, marge cooking cupcakes, and then going to sell them much like, you know, breaking bad in math. They're blue cupcakes. Get it. Blue. I I do get it, that. I I noticed that. And then then they use the blue cupcakes in the in the episode of the actual episode. Yeah They sure do. And I the last said about that the better. But, actually, the the we have guest stars, Brian Cra Walter White, and Aaron Paul is Jesse

Pink. But in this case, they are credited literally for their appearances. They don't say a word in this episode. They're not guest stars in the the proper sense. They appear in the couch intro literally, live action. They do not say anything. Then we have Mari Lamar Sushi chef. Wanda Sykes school therapist. George Mckay as Akira, and Marshall Wallace is Edna K ba. They didn't write the upset, matt. What's that? Those people... Those guest stars. They did not

write the episode. No. So we can't... I don't blame that at them. It's not their fault. It's there. It's not their fault. So it... I'm not gonna it's I'm not gonna blame. I like... I like Wanda Sykes. I don't... I like George k. I they didn't. Write this episode. They just appeared in it. Probably got the a paycheck and went, now, you know, cashed it into the bank and that's it. K. I'm trying to stay calm, amount. Stay

calm. Get through this. Not... I'm gonna try and actually say things at the episode and instead it, this is awful. Don't watch it. I'm done. It is awful. And if you haven't watched it at this point, It's your god don't watch. Unless when unless you are completion is, this is absence just for un just un watch, forget, va, unrecognizable as the Simpsons unrecognizable as human art even met. Like, that's where I'm at or this. Like, this feels like this is made in 20 13, and

we've made... Like, I've said this before, it feels like an Ai made this. Feels like you pat... Like, it's like, you know, it's a that that ugly Ai art that has 18 fingers in it and, like, too many teeth. It, like, it feels like Ai wrote a Simpsons episode. It feels like, Tommy w wrote a Simpsons up like, people who have never actually seen humans behave, tried to write a simpsons episode. And that's what this feels like. No characters recognize recognizable

themselves. There are no jokes in it. That I left at. Oh, God, no. None of this is is worth anything. It's just... The only moments that I even, I think I even I like I found even... I I will I don't use the word enjoyable. I think passable is what I would say about. The only moments of that are the ones where it's just like, insane things... We see just, like, insane scenes happening? And I go, oh, that's crazy. Why is this on my screen? But at

least I go... At least I feel something that's not just utter anger and existential dread. So... Yeah. We start the episode. This is a plus b plus. And this is what I also don't understand that. And I don't know what this is referencing. But there's a narrator in this entire episode. There's like a frame narrative going on for some reason. Why?

Fantastic question, Robbie, because they didn't want to actually write in all the plot details or someone So don't own watch episode and said, well, why is this happening? Like, what we have to explain it with the narrator, I guess? I mean, I don't know. This episode is so stupid not. Like, I don't no 1 on Earth who's confused. I guess, like, they're trying to give it some kind of context, but there's, like, every character literally just says exactly how they feel.

Like, it's just... And like, it's like that old joke about in that was in the Simpsons, like, it's it's just every character. It's just, like, here's how I feel about this situation. I'm talking like a human. It's every every bit of it. We had the a ap plot. We have homer March. Homer marge a plot. They are going on a lunch date. Homer is happy to be going on a lunch date with March. And it's... They're going to a a fancy sushi place, which opens us up to all

kinds of horribly racist jokes. Here, Matt, these jokes here, I would say in this first scene of this restaurant. They're only vaguely racist. That's true. These particular ones are vaguely racist. They're go a long way with the whole o, the very exacting Sushi chef insists you eat Sushi the way they want you to be. Yeah. And Most of just most guys don't care that much. They're... The... And, like... They might roll their eyes as you. That's the

worst yeah. Exactly. You're still paying them. Hundreds of probably of dollars for their sushi. I... They're gonna go whatever. Especially in the place like Springfield, really? But vaguely racist jokes, And, like, there's there's this these this long scene where homer and Marge are, like, they're celebrating being loan together going on a lunch date together. And then su... Homer, like, eating sushi the wrong way or... He's he's eating his mouth little open.

Well, I mean, the problem is homer is ignoring everything that marge is saying and just stuffing his face of Sushi. Which 1, he's eating way too fast to enjoy it. And as someone who tends to eat fast as Robbie can attest to. I get it. I see something delicious. I want it into my face as quickly as possible. But even I try to slow down for Su you can see is so good. Yeah I'm just saying matt. It just feels, like, marge... Again. Homer is never, like,

purpose... I'll say, like, that's the weird thing about this. Is that homer is being rude. But he doesn't... He's doing it all purpose. He's just being himself. And so when you have Mars just incredibly angry at him. Basically from the word go. Like, it starts here and this whole episode every single with Homer Mars margins gets in incredibly angry at him. And in this as a whole, it doesn't make homer look bad. It makes march look bad. It makes Marge look like a Man.

This she doesn't san. This was a first date. I can see Marge getting upset by this kind of thing. But they've been together for 10 years now. Bard 10. Mh. She knows this. Yeah. It's like, it's it's just there... It just makes March. Both marge and Lisa in this or some of the worst writing of the worst because it's episode called what animated women want like they want whatever you write them to want, and you did a bad job. You should feel bad... Let's see. That's...

You... You're a step further of me because I don't think there is just there's no thought in this. There is no thought at all. Done. They had an idea of a plot and they like, oh, hey, what if House acts like Marlon brando? They just went with it. What happens if this happens? And then they just went jumped from scene to scene, there's no through line. There's no foundation. There's no... Look like, they're not building anything. They're

just trying to get an episode done. Literally, that's is what it feels like this is, like, again, contractual obligation the simpsons. So margins immediately angry with homer, and I have a clip. Oh, march, there's is amazing. I never realized. Some restaurants are better than others. I hope you are enjoying y sushi. It's as yummy as your poorly produced local commercial said. I argued against that cowboy yet, but in the end it worked. So without the kids, we can have sophisticated up

talk. Oh, yeah. I'm thinking of getting mad swimming lessons. Speech Cro. When god rested on the central May. Did he take a nap? I do a hobby he enjoyed? I think I'm interesting. What. Can you chew with your mouth clothes? It's like looking into a garbage disposal? Words hurt you know. The most romantic part of this was the whole music when I made the reservation. Maybe it's time for a visit from Wall to kissing Walrus.

Everything has its breaking point, even the strongest substance in the universe. A married mother of 3. That usually works, but not today. Oh, Like, like, why isn't it marge so mad, first of all, March, your conversation topics terrible. You you're like, oh, I wanna talk about sophisticated adult talk let's talk about our getting our daughter swim lessons like that's... Again, it's not... They're just again. It's just in

there there is no, like, bill. Like, if you have an episode where it's, like, more... Again, and it doesn't help matt. I can I you? It doesn't help that we've seen this how many times. Oh, jillian. How many times do we have we seen march kind of feels tired with the standards of married life? Not missing the excitement. Excitement go on. And this feels like I tired of doing all the work, which is very for all these your legitimate complaints about Mar life, They

are. But because she's so poorly written in this man, it makes her look like a Man. Like, that's the crazy thing. Like, she is right. 1000 percent correct about everything that she says. But because she's so mean about it and enough what, like, flies off the handle. You are... And especially compared to all the things that homer has done in the past. Right? The homer in this episode is kind of off ish, but it's nothing compared to the thing she's put up within the

past. But, again, this episode has to pretend, like, no other episodes episode ever happened. I... That's the thing might like, I I don't live in the Simpsons Universe. I have watched all these episodes, and I've seen many large homer episodes that are way better than this. You have do something else. You have to do better, not so much worse that I am like tearing at my hair. So marge ends up leaving in a taxi cab because she hates home so much. And you're like, is this what we're doing?

Like, marge is so upset that homer took... Like... And it's also, like, her left work to go on a lunch date with her which is like I thing think he doesn't do. We don't see that very often. Like, that's something. Taste her to a nice place. That's something, But it's just... She's meet me to be fair. It sounds like she made the reservations. But still... Yeah. Homework are actually showing up. That's more effort

than homer usually make. So like, she flies off in this taxi cap, but we get this narrator, and this is the moment when where I go. Oh, this narrator is just gonna be here, I guess. Like it's so the way because just keeps popping up. You know, like, oh, I she's in this the whole episode, I guess.

Then we get, like, the narrator like, speaking about what a homeowner is gonna do now, and then we get the choice of home has to fight or flee, and homer chooses to flee except he's just on a street by himself? Like, it does it... What is he fleeing from? Martin is already gone. I think it's supposed to be he's fleeing from the relation it, but instead he chooses to fight, I guess. I I don't know what. I I literally says my... In the nose met. I go home or fleas, question mark. And then

I go, I don't know what's happening. Like, I literally... I'm just like, I'm lost. Well, the narrative did a terrible job of was telling you. I guess so, like, area I made it worse. Like, I will... I hate the b... I hate the b plot more than the a plot. But at least I know what's going on in the b plot. I think. Right. I just don't... I just don't know why margin home are fighting. Like, I don't know what's going on. I don't... But the... And I don't know why homer

is deciding to do different things. He just is doing them. This is when in an area takes us over to the b plot, which I can't say how much I hate. There are not words in the English language mat that thoroughly enough describe how much I hate this b plot. Mh. Because it takes this elementary school into the cafeteria where, it's in our protagonist is... I guess, it's a mill

house Lisa episode. I don't know what... They... I think maybe did they do that on purpose that J position of homer in Marge, Mil has and Lisa? I don't know. But Mill house is basically in the cafeteria, he sees Lisa approaching him. Lisa and Bart lunches have been mixed. Lisa has no lunch. So she has mil house if he has anything she can have, and he has a cupcake. And she wants it. This launches into this weird thing... I'm trying... I'm a plate clip, but I'm

afraid if I just play this clip. You're not... No... That no 1 listening This is gonna understand what's going on. Because it soon we I don't understand why it's happening. I mean, I don't understand why they do it, but I do know... I, like, I get the again, Mouse has a... I has a as like a dream sequence, a memory of watching street car named desire, and then acting like Marlin Brando, in street car to Lisa, and that is what is happening in the scene. Oh, yeah.

Do you want it? Mh. I'm gonna give up my cupcake for second of attention. Isn't there a better way to relate to a girl? Go wash up and help me clear the tape. Now. That's all I cleared the table. You heard me, Duchess. It's mine and I'm saving it. Oh, okay. If you'll excuse me, I have to go think of you in a different light. Great. She's never gonna talk to me again. I'm sorry. I was inc inconsistent house and furthermore, I respect you more for saying no. Tell you what, babe. Why don't you get me a milk? New house, where are you going with this? Playing in the biggest touch of my life. I just have 1 thing to say. Chocolate or regular. Why am I doing this? Why am I doing this?

Something we'd all like to know Simpsons writers, something we'd all like right now. Is it, matt, it's... There's these moments in this where I'm like, it... Are they... Is this a joke on me? Like, it feels like like this is literally it feels like they are it's like a joke on me for joy begging us. For they aren't... That... I mean, Matt, you said it. It really is that. But this is this is the Lisa gets ne story line. That's what the b plot is.

It's Lisa gets next. And Lisa going. Lisa not even... Like Lisa just has to playa out loud at this point. Like, you heard it in the clip She's like, I'm gonna go rethink about how I feel about you and you're like, that's not what are we doing? And and it's just also, like, there's... Like, when I talk about no people that the the writing in this, Like, it doesn't feel like human speech. Just, like, Nelson Months going. Yeah. Girls like Brando. What? This is what? This is in the year 20 13.

Yeah. All because, I guess, because Bob was went for him and it's like, oh, yeah. I I really like Marlon Rand, everyone should know, not use, Edna Ba as a source of what women like. And and, like, 1, n is with Ned now, whatever. And she, I would also add Matt in this scene, they are watching a street car named desire and Edna is smoking a cigarette indoors and puts out the butt in bart ear as he sleeps. What are earth is this? Who... What is this... What is... Is that

supposed to... Like, I don't know why? Of what is this? What 90 year old was still on the Simpsons writing stuff and said, hey, I saw this happen once in the fifties. I think no 1 color. Don't... Like, I just don't know what, like... I know it's supposed to be funny, but I don't know what the what they think the joke is. Is is so baffling. But it's just like random cruelty is funny, Robbie. Haven't you ever watched family guy?

Matt, I I don't I I think I've probably have said this recently, but that's unfair to family guy. That is unfair. That's unfair to family guy. I would... A hundred... You could pick a family guy episode out of a hat at random, and I'd rather... I'd I pick it a thousand times out of over this... Whatever this is. I get... I probably probably have more indoor our enjoyment out of it. Whatever sure. It could be any of them. I probably like it more. Okay. So lisa's is getting ne.

That's this be plot basically, Mil house and we we've kinda, and, like, that's the other thing that we've seen this plot before. We've done multiple house changes this personality for lease plots. And she likes them in. We've done this. Like, and they just do it again. But with this time strangely, like, with... They've specifically Like, there's so many bad boy characters in film history. Right? So many. You could pick any of them. And it's weird because in this episode, it's

not as much about bad boys. It kind of is because that's what the the person of the mill has adopt, but he's he's constantly thinking about Brando, and we get Brando in a at the end and and Brando, as Jo in the original superman movie, it's baffling. It's I... It's just crazy. Doesn't... It's like... And again, they did that. Like, it feels again, like they did the thing with Woody Allen in part. And it's just like, they just wanna have... They wanna

be... Do they wanna be family guy and have, like, references to characters from film and like, it's not like the simpsons never did that. They did it all the time. They were clever with it And you're... I don't know why why is Mil has obsessed with Brand when you could pick a movie and a character and an actor that is more relevant. And when you haven't done before, a street car named March exists, guys. It exists III was thinking about this. Sorry. You you

finish it that. No. I'm... That's... You can please take the take the ball, run with it, man. Oh, saying. I think but if you want to have us as an episode, 1, it needs to be an a plot. Like, you're given this extremely short trip here. If anything, they should swap it and the margin homer stuff should be the the b plot because it has nothing going on with it.

But if you have this, have Mill house like, watching old movies with his dad, who's trying out being a bad boy, and it just happens to work with some poor woman with terrible self esteem. And thinks. I wonder, but he gets confused and all he does is stand up for himself, and Lisa says, oh, okay. Maybe I could hang out with him. At all he does. He he doesn't act like a jerk. He just, you know, treats himself as a person worthy of respect, and then Lisa wants to hang out with him

some more. It turns out they share some interest that we've never known the but the house is really into and boom. There you have a real episode. It's not her getting meg and liking if for of reason. It's the dumbest thing ever. I just know. It... I... It it... There is never a moment or it makes sense, man. Not even 1 time. Not even a little bit. We go back to the airport, where homer comes

home with Roses to apologize to March. On his hands on his knees, comes into the the the bedroom with Roses tries to apologize. To March. March pulls the... The apology note from the Roses. And then tries to put it in a drawer filled with other apology notes, and then gets angry and jack's homer. Rejects the apology and is upset. And that's it. You're... I'm, like, what is... Why? Like, if this is about... See. This

is... And this is, like, I don't know if they even thought about this for a moment, matt. But if homer is earnest trying to apologize with Roses. And with an apology note. And Marge goes, no. You've done this so many times, and you've just always are the same person. We'll guess what guys. That means they should just break up. They should get a divorce because mar... That homer is just gonna be homer homer Maybe because you can't change the the entire show

completely like that. Like, if you wanted to have this, oh, no. Homer needs to get therapy or something. Okay. That's an interesting intro to an episode, but that's not what this is about. I mean, I don't. I... I'm on the record but. I do not want the simpsons to every everyday therapy episodes. They're always bad. But I... It is, like, you need to make this a different conflict because all this is is, like, marge This watching this episode and watching the a

plot. All it does is it feels like marge should leave homer and cut and she'd be way happier. Should be way happier without homer, and guess what. Don't want that in my Simpsons. That's not. You shouldn't drown an episode in that. And then miraculously, it gets fixed at the end for no real reason, which is what they do. Which is what they always Yeah. Lately. Yes. We go to our first commercial late minutes it's at 56 seconds.

And when we come back, leases on the nature walk that she invited Mill house on. He basically told her, hey, I may or may not be. Won't don't you go on your nature walking and we'll see. No house does show up because of course, he does. But now he's wearing a leather jacket. Enact still like a jerk. See here, matt. Let me... I'm gonna break in and say, I didn't to your further here. You're... You you brought it up earlier, you don't have to have be a jerk, you can just be more confident unless you know, it was anxious attachment guy to Lisa, and she could invite him on an nature walk walking and he's was like, well, maybe. If you wanna go, maybe I'll show up. Right? And it's that, I don't really... You know, I don't wanna commit to it or

or maybe I'll meet... You... If you're there, maybe I'll show up and and I'll see you there, and it's less about, like, being just there and rude. About, like, ma'am, maybe you'll be there or not. Which like, I'm gonna say this, matt as well. This weird version of house doing a brando is terrible. Like, it's a bear. It's such a bad brand imp nation. Like, I don't know why the... But this weird filter, they had to get through to get, like, you know, have Mil house's voice than

trying to get brand voice. It just doesn't work. I hate it. It's quite bad. It's quite bad. So at the very end of this mill house actually starts to question what's going on it goes to see, I guess the school psychiatrist. I'm acting like a jerk and lisa's eating it up. Why don't I feel good? I need advice from the most important woman in my life? So everything was going great, and then I wondered if the me she likes is the

real me. Well, let me see. This is the first time you've been brave enough to sit in this office without a bunny in your lap. Where is the bunny? He's in the closet. He's fine. I'm over here in middle house. Focus. You gotta help me duck. I just don't know what to do. Don't worry. I'm here for you. And I'll be here for as long as it takes. I'm fired. You're on your own. I'll clean out my office immediately. I'll show you how to clean on the office.

I don't usually say this to kids. But don't be yourself because yourself is not working. Be that guy you just were. Gotcha. Oh I love you fluffy fella. I just got fired. I needed more than you. idea Shu sushi chef's name is. I don't even think they call Akira akira. We just know who he is. Yeah. They don't have names for any these characters. God Forbid. You name them. You can even give her, like you can give her a pla on her desk It just has her name. Right. Got. Hey, you call her doctor or whatever. And, like, and you immediately check... Like, there's a joke already. Like, I can't... I don't know how I'm doing this off the top

of my head, and they're all... It's Like, you give her a name and you have mil house address by doctor Blake. And then you hear she's fired, And then you immediately go, like, you know, I have a doc it. Like, I'm working in elementary school. Like, you wouldn't write jokes about that, not her stealing bunnies for mil house and this hack, terrible like, fella? I fell like, did they Matt, did they watch street start street guardian named March before they made this up of No. I'm sure most

of mine have seen it. I... They had to, matt. Do you see what Birds has been riding for the chauffeur for like, like years. Okay. I'm sorry. Please continue. I don't... I'm slowing this down. I did wanna get through this. I I very much you. Okay. We'll go back to hope we're in March. Homer doesn't know what to do at this point. How how does he get march back? Now that March has rejected his apology? So he begins by acting asking his phone what to do. The phone being an iphone gets it wrong

several times. Has no idea what he's asking. And then eventually shots via a lasers homer in the head, and it doesn't a joke about homer not being able to please any of the women in his life. That's it. That's that's where... That's where we go. That's we leave it all. Hope people go and that it's old people joke. I know. I know. We think go back to mill house who is no longer doing the, Brando as Stanley thing anymore. Now he's doing, Marlon Brando from Mutiny on the bound. So, again, this

is not about The be the jerk. He's just adopting multiple brando personas. He is in a weird costume swings down from the roof. Tearing down the treehouse that he has been buried in along with Bart. I really should have captured a whole bit about Lisa Saying. I've become my mother when saying that she could do whatever and that she's baked him 7 different types goats. She doesn't she does a march voice. She does a march voice. What on earth? This is not human behavior.

She's an 8 year old girl by the way. I cannot have, like, I don't I... Shame. I just wanna keep yelling that. I literally just wanna keep yelling shame. I like, I wanna like, I wanna thing... I need a bell. I need bell, man. I should get a shame belt sound. That's what. Matt, right now. You just never

stop ringing it in these episode. I mean, I would try and save it for the really, maybe once hour episode limit myself once an episode, you know, not we don't wanna make it go crazy, but I do think. Shame. Shame on this. Well, luckily for me, Robbie, This is the end of act too. Oh god. And that that's the other thing. It just ends and you're, like, Well, they're buried. Because how our barton Mill house dead. I don't know. There's multiple seasons. Right? I'm like, oh, they just

kill people. I guess, characters are just dead. We come back from commercial at 12 minutes to 10 seconds. Homer has found a, like, a list of chores to do And he thinks, oh, this is how I will win. Margins love back, I guess by doing chores. And I could go, matt. You know what I could do, Matt right in this moment. I could go on a, like, a lengthy monologue about how Yeah. A lot of times, healthy, long term relationships are just built upon people willing to do work.

For both themselves and for and for the other person for their partner, You know, and sometimes that's emotional work, sometimes that's literal the chores that's doing the dishes. And how important that is? And you could make make an episode about, you know, homer you know, famously very lazy, and you could make them about Homer trying to do chores. It's not enough they've even really done that before. They've really upset where Homer just suddenly does all the chores all the time.

You can do that. But you could also have him being incredibly tired after this and go, wow. I didn't realize all these shorts going undone would be so exhausting. Exact Larson has been doing them all. Exactly. But no. Instead, they have a joke about it. Grandpa being a car. 2 character appearing because of out of a door that homer is saying it down. Marge sees... And this is another seam map. Marge appears, it is immediately

very angry at him. She... Homer has literally, like, and this is the time where you're like, homer has literally taken a door off the hinges. Taking it downstairs, set up a set it up on on, saw horses, and is sand sanding planning down part of the door so that's level. And as a person, I don't know if you've ever had to do that to a door. But as he put door off in general is in insanely difficult. That's doing stuff and put in the

backup. I completely left my door on the hinges and saw out a cat door because I didn't wanna take it off the hinges This is a lot of work. It's a. I am... I've taken off doors before and didn't work to them and put them back up. It's a lot of work. And homer is, like, really proud that he's done this these chores. And marge looks... He... She looks at this chore list that homer is completed.

And goes... This tour is from 6 years ago, and he's immediately hateful about the fact that he did something. And like, well, not only that it's like, All the stuff on this list did it no longer need to get done. This homer no longer need to see a dermatologist about his hair? Pretty sure that's all stuff that still needs to be done. Again, it it doesn't... I... It just makes marge looks like a mean awful person that is just that at the bare fax is she's not

that's the truth. Because if this is like an eighth draft or something, that's embarrassing. Because I'm not a comedy writer, but I could do better. And it's just... There's... It's just sad. Like... For the b plot, Lisa likes bad boys, a 1 joke that was stretched out for the entire episode. And the end both plot

lines just fizz out. From Jj. I felt Genuine when embarrassment watching this entire battle of the sexist plot, which felt like goes plucked from the fifties. Never seen marge lisa written so poorly. Then they've done margins as angry at home or stories so many times, but this takes the cupcake for une originality. The fact that she's angry at him for just being himself sugar by him eating with his mouth open of all things is so depressing. Is it

the Mandela effect? Do I remember them having a mostly happy marriage in the golden years? Your... This is not the Mendel mandela effect. You watch many... Like, there's many. And this is the thing I I don't know if it's some this the show forgot at this point. There are many incidental scenes and Golden news episodes. Incidental scenes, not not not necessarily important for the plot to happen, but they do help inform

the feeling of the show. There are incidental scenes where homer and Marge are just a happy couple doing happy couple things. Like, there will be, for example, there'll be a bart. You might have a bart episode or release episode, and there will have a scene where you know, bart or Lisa go to homer or Mars for help for something. And then you have homer in Mars like cracker a joke between each other. Like, cracker joke with marge, marginal cracker joke homer and they'll both laugh

and, like, giga at each other. Right? It shows that they have something in common. They appreciate each other sense of humor. The kinds of things this episode completely ignores. And, like, they'll come up on them and they'll just be sitting together, like a couple bus. Like, in this episode feels like they hate each other in every scene. You're like, continuing, Jj.
