Episode description

Welcome to part three of my Top 10 takeaways on how you can run a more profitable roofing business.

This Top 10 list has been culled from all of my previous interviews with experts, my own 30 years of experience, my years of coaching other contractors and listening to the mistakes they have made, and by watching my competitors make mistakes.

You can listen to the first part right here in Podcast 200, and the second part in Podcast 201.

Thank you for hanging in there with me and helping to make this podcast a success, and I hope, as you listen, that you’ll discover tangible tips that you can put to use that will help get you to your business vision.

What You’ll Hear in This Episode:

  • What are YOU doing for “Follow-up Friday”? Here are my suggestions!
  •  A “word of the day” sets a positive tone and engages your team members during meetings.
  • Here’s an update on a roofing job I’ve been trying to get done on my own home, with some lessons in it for you.
  • Remember the 3-legged stool? You have to sell work, you have to do work, and you have to keep score. This is the secret to running a successful business. Last week I covered the first leg (selling the work) and today I’ll be reviewing the second and third legs.
  • #8: Do the work. In order to make more money and have more free time, you have to have a process. For ideas, I detail how my company successfully did this.
  • #9: Get the reviews, and ask for referrals. This opens the door for repeat business. Listen for my tips on how this works!
  • #10: Keep score: This is the third leg of the 3-legged stool. To stay in balance, each one of these legs must be strong. Job-cost each and every job you do. Don’t wait until the end of the year to find out if you made any money.
