When sharing our stories, we’re always advised to be as vulnerable as we can and are willing to be.  But when it comes to social online content, especially social media, is there a line between being vulnerable and too much information and if so what is it?

In my opinion, it’s actually simple.  Are you sharing just to share or does the piece of content you’re about to publish serve its purpose of growing your audience and giving value?  Are you about to post about your feelings or are you sharing a personal story with the hope of more deeply connecting with and inspiring your audience.

It’s really just a matter of who your content is intended to serve — you (content that airs out personal business, signals for sympathy, or validates your judgements and opinions) or your audience (content that provides perspective, connection, and inspiration)?
