The Things That Drive Us: Are You Pushing Or Punishing Yourself?

High achievers, listen up. This was a wake up call that hit me like a ton of bricks.
We push ourselves, always to the next outcome working towards the next goal. Higher and higher up the achievement ladder we go. And that ok. However, have you ever stopped and asked yourself what’s really driving you?
I was definitely driven by a desire for excellence and continually challenging myself. But underneath that drive was an unconscious unworthiness, buried so deep that it wasn’t until well into my 40’s that I actually realized it was there.
Thankfully, on a one fateful afternoon as I was pounding out my daily ten mile run, I woke up to the fact that I was pushing so hard not just because I was working towards excellence but also because I was punishing myself for feeling not good enough.
This was driving me and had been for so long.
Not anymore. If this is you, let go.
There’s no standard or measure that we have to live up except our own. And understand that even if you fall short of those standards now and then, it doesn’t make you any less worthy.
Own your worthiness and you can push and drive yourself as hard as you want and enjoy the process the entire time.
