I’ve said in the past that you shouldn’t change virality with your content.  Well, after hearing a talk by Natalie Ellis of Boss Babes I’m inclined to revise my stance.

Virality is important.  There’s no getting around it if you want to grow on the social platforms.

Virality should be incorporated into your content not in the sense of copying viral trends but in modeling viral structure.  Examine pieces of content you observe as viral and see what qualities from that you can incorporate into your own content.

That said, virality should be the final piece of your strategy after consistency, refinement of message, and developing your voice/persona.  These should not be sacrificed in pursuit of virality.
