Lessons from a Quick Visit to the Vineyard
Episode description
Growing a vineyard, growing any type of garden for that matter holds many a metaphor for business, marketing, and the entrepreneurial journey.
For our most current conversations, the theme of consistency and patients in the face of the time it takes to produce results takes center stage. Our vineyard is coming into its third season. And I’ve only just barely trained the plants up to the trellis. So this means they’re still years away from producing viable fruit.
Same with business. Same with network marketing. Same with content creation.
It takes time and much of your work, especially early on, won’t yield any perceivable results. But trust that like the grape plants, growth and progress are happening. Stay the course.
And then there are the set backs. These first two and a half years working the vineyard have been a rollercoaster ride of emotions. Animals eat the plants, main trunks snap in the winter because they’re still young and too thin, or vines decide to just Peter out and die for no reason. The journey feels like one step forward two steps back.
Obviously there are tons that can go sideways in any business venture. But as long as you’re moving forward, the scales always eventually balance out and every set back presents lessons that will afford you quantum leaps forward down the road.
So if you’re willing, I encourage you to get your hands in the dirt and grow a garden this year. It can help you develop the Zen patients and persistence needed in business.
