Here we go again.  The quote that heard across the world is making its way around the internet once again.  

“Stay close to people who want more for you not from you.”

I’ll keep revisiting this and quotes similar to this because I firmly believe that it doesn't really serve the readers… at least not without further context.

And that la the problem isn’t it?

A catchy quote, however well intentioned, if not thought out thoroughly can gravely miss the mark. 

This one for example excuses the reader of responsibility and reenforces a belief that one’s pease of mind is dependent in external circumstances.

As influencers and thought leaders, especially those of us in the coaching world, we have to really take care the messages we’re broadcasting.  It really is a matter of being very vigilant and responsible with the influencer we’ve cultivated.  We must never take for granted our impact and the effect of our words have on our audiences.
