Have an Opinion But Don’t Be Opinionated
Episode description
There are many things we content creators concern ourselves over when producing and publishing content. Naturally we worry, even if unconsciously, about turning our audiences and potential audiences off with the content we publish.
And why wouldn’t we. In an ever polarized world, the last thing many of us want is to contribute to all the madness.
Here’s the truth: you can’t control how your content is going to be perceived. Whether you’re worried that your point of view will be polarizing or you purposefully express polarizing opinions to garner more attention, to create and publish content motivated by public perception (or what you think public perception will be) produced an online presence that is less than authentic.
Should you share your opinion? Absolutely. Your perspective is part of what makes you uniquely you and that’s what people will resonate with.
Just make sure you don’t cross the line into being opinionated because that’s when things cross into the realm of shock jock, attention hungry content that will ultimately turn many people off.
Be honest. Be real. Be you.
