Followthrough.  There’s lots of reason why people lack it.  One is that they get too distracted by the next new thing.  And that’s normal.

Newness is fun.  Newness is exciting.

When we start a new venture or a new strategic plan, it’s easy to to show up every day because it’s new, it’s fresh.  It’s a break from the humdrum that results from not living with intentionality.

But the drawback is that the newness wears off and when it does all we’re left with is the work we still need to do to achieve the outcome we set out for.  Work without the excitement.

And so when a new opportunity crosses our path, we’re drawn to jumping into it for its newness and the fun and excitement that newness brings.

And so the cycle repeats, over and over again and you never end up finishing anything you started.

If you want to finally get results, you have to follow through.  And if you want to follow through, you have to create a structured plan that will keep you on track even after the newness wears off.
