Do you remember one specific moment when you felt like the puzzle pieces of your life snapped together like a divine, universal collision? At least that's what it felt like for me when I had a group coaching session that changed my life.

In today's episode, I'm sharing about where my motivation to cheer podcasters on stems from, how being surrounded by a team of people moving towards common goals is a game-changer, and why one group coaching session was the catalyst I needed to propel me into everything I'm doing in my business today.

If you've ever wondered if group coaching is a thing you should consider, you'll walk away from this episode today with a clear understanding of how powerful it can be when you're learning from someone who's talking the talk and walking the walk.

Intro

I'm extra giddy about today's episode because I get to talk about a few things that really excite me. We're gonna talk about cheerleading. We're going to talk about coaching. And we're going to talk about a conversation that changed my life. I know it sounds super, super dramatic. And I promise you, I'm going to be dramatic today. This is my disclaimer, my fair warning today is going to be a little dramatic. But it's because I'm so excited about what we are talking about today.

So let's get right to it. Welcome to the profit podcast where we teach entrepreneurs how to start launch and market their podcast. I'm your host, Krystal, Proffitt, and I'm so excited that you're here. Thanks for hanging out with me today. Because if you've been trying to figure out the world of podcasting, think of this show as the time saving shortcut you've been looking for. So let's get right to it, shall we?

Where My Motivation Comes From

I wanted to start today's episode, really with a little bit of an explanation about who I am as a person. And if you've been around here for a while, then you know that motivation and cheering people on like, this is something that I do on a regular basis. And it wasn't until, I guess maybe about two years ago, I had two or three people like almost back to back asking me, Where do you get that? Where does that come from? How are you so just happy and cheery and energetic and motivating. And it's one of those things where if you hadn't asked me that I would have never asked myself that question. Like, what do you what do you mean like this, this is just who I am. But if I go back in time, go back to the little child version of me. I can really see where a lot of it comes from. And it stems from I have been an athlete, like all of my life, I was put into cheerleading and basketball and I played volleyball. I did track I did all the things. And it's funny because our our oldest son is in middle school right now. And they have track season coming up soon. And you know, all the boys are playing basketball right now. And I'm just like, oh my gosh, I forgot how much I love basketball. I love watching it. And I have I've just loved like we went to a Houston Rockets game a few weeks ago. And it was just so much fun. I missed the energy of all of that. But there's just something special about being on a team and being in that type of environment where you're working together. But you're also learning from someone who's either been in your shoes or they've gone before you and I don't know, it just has this energy around it that I've always been drawn to obviously, even from a little kid, and I just love cheering people on. It's it just comes very natural to me. So when people ask me, where does that come from? I'm like, oh, it's honestly it's a skill. I guess with you if we're gonna call it something. It's a skill that I have honed over time since the age of four. First, put on a little cheerleading uniform and got up there and started cheering okay, like, fun side note, I have to tell you this story real fast because if you have watched the Netflix series cheer, I just finished season two. I won't give any spoilers away. Except I have to tell you, I was freaking out. So if you don't know what this is, it's a documentary Docu series, however you want to call it on Netflix. It's called cheer, like just a simple word cheer. And it was all about competitive cheerleading. I loved it, because I was like, Oh my gosh, this is about competitive cheerleading. So cool. Then I find out it's in Corsicana, Texas, which was 45 minutes down, or 3045 minutes down the road from my hometown. And I was like, Oh, this is cool. You know, so watch first season, y'all. This year. It just it got elevated to Holy crap. This is really cool. Because season two features my hometown like my husband is so over me talking about it. And I've been like, messaging my girlfriend's from back home. I'm like, Oh my God. Did you see Athens is in there. And I have a friend who she's like, Oh my gosh, did you see like I know that person and that's all this person's car. And it's, it's wild because Athens, Texas. This is where I was born and raised. And I mean, I spent 18 years of my life there. And it's just so wild to me to see my old stomping grounds on Netflix Docu series, so it's just really cool. But for it being the fact that it was all about competitive cheering, which I did, like I've practiced in the gym at Trinity Valley Community College, which was featured in the Docu series, I have several friends that cheered on the squad back in the day, it was it was just I was geeking out about it, it was so much fun. But it just reminded me, again, about AI. I love the idea of people that are cheering each other on people that are coaching, the mentorship aspect, and all the people that are collectively motivated together. If you've never been on a team like that, like I really feel for you, because that type of energy of I mean, it's that like, quote, unquote, synergy. Like if you've ever read a business book, and they talk about synergistic things, and everything's in synergy, it really is a thing. Because when you get a group of people together, that are motivated to better themselves to achieve goals to just do really big things in the world. I mean, it just changes your whole perspective. I was having another conversation today, actually, with one of my good friends who's doing really amazing things in the podcasting space. And I just look at all these incredible people that I'm surrounded by. And I'm like, Oh, my gosh, like I, it fires me up, I see her wanting to stretch herself and do much bigger things within her podcast community, and the different things that she's producing and creating, and she's making the events and doing all these amazing things. And I'm like, Oh, wow, what else can I do? Where can I push the envelope of really just, you know, pushing the boundaries, pushing the limits on what is possible to make a bigger global impact. And I wouldn't have those thoughts if I weren't surrounded by motivated people. So that's really where I wanted to kind of ground everything in today is because when people ask me, Well, where do you get this motivation? Where does that come from? It's something that I have really train myself over time to be inspiring in the way that I can help you see problems in a way that they're overcome a bowl. That's not even a word, I totally just made that up, they could be overcome. That's what I was trying to say. But you, you know, I make up words here. If you're brand new, the Welcome to Crystal's shenanigans of making up words, overcome rubble. See, I just made it a different version of it. I don't even know what I'm trying to say anymore. But I like to look at problems, especially with podcasting. When someone comes to me, and they're like, I have a problem with my podcast. Here it is, I lay it all down on the table. And I'm just like, you don't have a problem. That's not fixable. Right? Like, let's, let's address that. First and foremost, like a lot of these, quote, issues can be fixed, it just might take some time. Or it may take a certain technical skill that you may not have right now, but you can learn it. And so I just want you to know that approaching things in a coaching manner, is something that it just it fires me up. I mean, obviously, is why I come back to this podcast every single week, why I show up on my live streams, why I create any of the content that I do, because this energy is something that I really, truly like it is my gift to share to podcasters because I want to see you succeed, that is at the heart of all of it. I want to see your message getting out there into the world. I adapted this phrase last year, that is I help people that help people. And it really, it's my purpose, because I think going above and beyond what I do on a regular basis here at profit media and in my content. What I'm trying to do is help make your life easier, so that you share that special message that you have with the world. Okay, and it's just oh, it just, it's gonna make me emotional. And I'm not going to get we're not going to cry today. We're not going to cry today in doing this episode. But I did want to tell you about a very specific coaching session that I mean, to be dramatic. It changed my life. I'm not going to say I'm not going to be dramatic. I'm going to be a little a little dramatic today and bring some sass because this conversation changed my life. And I actually have it recorded. And it's a podcast episode. And you can go back and listen to it and I'm going to tell you exactly where to get

it.

My Coaching Session with Amy Porterfield

It's going to be in the show notes. But what it was is I had a coaching session with my mentor, Amy Porterfield back in 2019. So I was taking B school with Marie Forleo and I had signed up for this bonus In this session, you know, Amy was an affiliate, I sent it for her bonus experience, because I knew like, Okay, this is the route that I want to go and I want to learn with Amy, her bonuses were incredible, all these other things. And I was actually given the opportunity to get on a hot seat call with her. So if you're familiar with Amy and any of her teachings, whether you've done DCA or List Builder, society, or any of those things, she does these Facebook lives that are just, I mean, they're incredible. They're so good. She is typically going live by herself. But in this particular situation, she did some hot seats. And I believe if I think back, there are probably three or four people that were chosen for that day. And mine was the last one. And I mean, I still totally remember everything about this conversation, because it was so impactful, because I was given the chance to ask her really specific questions about my business beforehand, like I had to submit, kind of, hey, this is where I'm struggling or that these are my questions. This is what I'd love to talk about, or I need some coaching on this. But it was really a hot seat where Amy was kind of drilling into me like well, what what is your business? What are you offering? Are you doing courses? Are you doing coaching? Like what is your? What is your thing that you're doing? Like, what are you what are you standing for? And I remember, there was a point in the conversation where she was telling me, you should go all in on podcasting. And it was that thing in the back of my mind that had been kind of right below the surface. It really was like it was something that I was having a lot of fun with on the side, but it wasn't my main thing. It wasn't the thing that I was like, Okay, this is what I'm going to do that's gonna make me money. My business. It was like, Oh, well, that's kind of my side thing. Yeah, I have a podcast and I help people in the DMS, like I only answer their questions. But that's not really that's not what I'm trying to do. I have these other goals and dreams and aspirations. But let's call it what it was, I was just kidding myself. I was procrastinating, what I was really feeling inside. But this is what happens when you have a really good coach, a mentor, who is like, she had my best interest at heart. And that is really, I believe, why I adjusted all of my other thoughts that I had, like prior to our conversation. And I immediately was like, You know what, you're you're right, yes, I should go all in on podcasting. And I remember her thinking like, oh, well, you're not going to think about it. It's not something that, you know, you don't want to sleep on it. And I was just like, No, because she said everything that I was already thinking. And so it was like that moment of just gratification that I wasn't in my head, just kind of circling around this silly idea. Maybe you've had that maybe you've had that where you're just like, Man, I have this crazy idea. Everyone's just gonna, you know, laugh at it or say, that's impossible. You can't do that, or that hasn't been done before. So you shouldn't do it. And, you know, I'm sure you've had a version of those thoughts before, but for her to say exactly what I was already thinking. It was just validating. It was so validating that those were the next steps that I needed to take. And here we are today, almost three years later to the date of that conversation. And I mean, I've just I've never looked back. I've never said you know, oh, that was a mistake. I should have gone all in on podcasting. No, so many doors of open since I decided that podcasting was going to be the main thing that I was going to focus on in all of it stems back to that conversation that I had with her. So that's why I said I'm gonna get a little dramatic and talk about this is a conversation that changed my life group coaching changed my life. But it's true, because if I go all the way back, there's not a moment before that particular conversation, where I was serious, where I was all in where I was committed to the idea of podcasting before that it all been the pipe dream version, you know, where it's like, oh, yeah, one day. Sure. That sounds cool. One day, whenever I do something other do some other thing. That's incredible. Or I have a podcast that has a million downloads, then I'll think about teaching podcasting or whenever I have, you know, other success in areas of my business, then I'll do that. No, I had like, validation. I think that that's really what I needed at that point in my life in my career. And it's just where everything stems from. So the show notes for today's episode are KrystalProffitt.com/episode325. If you want to go listen to the I have the whole conversation, which is really cool. I don't think everybody can say that. But I'm so grateful that this conversation was recorded, because I can go back and listen to the exact moment when everything changed for me for my business, and when I decided to go all in on podcasting, and how that made such a big

difference.

The Poddy People Co-Op

So if you're like man like this, that sounds incredible. I wish that there was a group coaching program out there that can help me with my podcast that could help really take things, just elevate it to the next level, then I am so happy that you're listening to this episode, if you're listening to it in real time, because The Poddy People Co-Op, which is my brand new coaching program that I just open, like it's open for

enrollment right now. So if you're listening to this, we open the doors for enrollment starting on January 18, through January 24 2022. So the doors will be closing in a few days. So if you're like, oh my gosh, it's the first time hearing about it. I'm going to tell you a little bit about it. But I want you to go check it out at thepoddypeople.com. So T-H-E-P-O-D-D-Y-people.com. Because that's where you're gonna find all of the

information. But in a nutshell, this is the six week group coaching program that this audience has been asking me for. You've been saying, well, Krystal, how I don't really know that much about SEO, I don't know that much about marketing. I don't know how I should set up my website, I don't know how to turn my audience into raving fans like these are just some of the things that we're going to

be talking about. Over the next six weeks of us coaching together, like we're going to hop on a weekly zoom call, every Thursday 10am Central, we're hopping on a call, and we're gonna talk through these different things, I'm going to answer your specific questions, if we need to pull up your podcast, like share it on the screen and say, Okay, here's where your website could be better. Or if you don't even have a website, let's get it

going. Let's put things into place for you to have these things set up over the next six months. So you can actually see your podcast grow in 2022. So that's one piece of what's offered in The Poddy People Co-Op. But the next thing is, I'm going to do an expert level podcast audit. And what this is, this is something I'm really excited about. Because last year, I did a whole bunch of

free audits. They were like baby audits, little mini audits where I did like a live and I'd bring up your information that you submitted. And we would kind of talk through where you could improve your artwork. And I looked at your show notes a little bit, and we talked about it. But this time, the podcasts audits are a lot more in depth where I am going through every single nook and cranny of your podcast, I want to look at like and pinpoint some of the areas

of improvement that I see. As well as where you can jazz things up a little bit. Maybe you could get better results at people finding your show organically. If you focused on these specific keywords, or you just changed the category y'all this is something that was really revolutionary for me. I changed my podcast from business, to education, how to, and my podcast is continuously in the top 200 of the apple

podcast charts. So my podcast is almost always charting someplace, sometimes it's like episode or episode, it's spot 52. Sometimes it's in the two hundreds, and the highest that it's been is 16. And really, really cool. And I mean, it just it all had to do with someone else. It was another mentor that told me Hey, you should change the category of your podcast, because then you would actually

be in the charts. This one simple tweak that I had no idea that I should change, I changed it and boom, I was in the charts. And I've stayed there for a really long time. So I'm going to tell you all these little tips and tricks and nuances to really get your podcast in front of the right people this year. And then the other thing, this is the bonus that I'm throwing in for those of you that enroll in The Poddy People Co-Op. I'm offering a one on one coaching session with me.

So everyone that enrolls will get a 15 minute coaching call with me where we can either talk about what I found in your podcast audit, or we can talk about really specific questions that you have. But I've heard y'all loud and clear. You've told me, "Krystal, I want you to look at my podcast. I want some feedback. I don't want anything that's generic. I want it to be very specific to what my show is about." And that is exactly what

The Poddy People Co-Op is. So podcast audits and one on one calls aren't really something that I currently offer to my audience because it takes a lot of time. And it's something that whenever I do those things, when I have a one on one coaching session with someone, when I do a podcast audit, I'm going to dedicate some time I'm going to go all in. But since y'all have been asking me I've had so many people message me and say, "Krystal, will you please look at my podcast and tell me if I'm

doing a good job. I knew it was time that I needed to offer this to our audience, because it's something I think that you could really benefit from, especially if you know, this is the actual reason why your show may not be growing the way that you want it to. And I've been saying this everywhere, I'm like, we're gonna make 2022, the year of the podcaster. And I'm hoping that it will catch on, you should tell your friends 2022 is the

year of the podcaster. But I want you to go to thepoddpeople.com To learn more about what you can expect over the six weeks that we'll have together. And you can learn more like I have session highlights of what you can expect every single week that we're going to be coaching together, as well as I've included a special video for you to watch. If you want to see exactly what's inside the program. There's like a demo of behind the scenes and everything. So again, go to

thepoddypeople.com. But enrollment is only open until January 24. So don't wait. And if you're listening to this in the future, it's totally fine. You will be able to go to the waitlist and be notified the next time we open for enrollment. So the show notes for today, Krystalproffitt.com/episode325. I want you to go listen to if you've never heard that conversation that I have with Amy, it was really special and something that, like I said, I'm so grateful that it was

recorded. And I can go back and listen to such an insightful conversation and just kind of how much I've grown in just a short amount of time how much I've learned how much I've gotten better. It was just it really did. It changed my life, again, to be dramatic. It really did change my life. And if you're looking for something that's going to jolt you and your podcast and your content into really growing and creating

something awesome this year. I hope you consider joining us in The Poddy People Co-Op.

Outro

But that's all I have for you today. So if you're brand new around here, I hope that you hit that subscribe or follow button wherever you're listening to this podcast, take a screenshot and share it on social media and tell me about your group coaching experience. If you've had something that was really transformative, and you're just like, oh my gosh, yes, group coaching is the way to go. It helped me do this or it helped me do that. I would

love for you to share it. And that's all I have for you today. So as always remember, keep it up. We all have to start somewhere.
