Platt Today on the blog, another action packed half hour show coming your way.
There could at vinic'sfire. Now.
Dems are micromanaging cop communications. Thomas Matthew lays it out here. The House passes the cr bill. Colorado democats kill transparency bill. Government tries to fix government created problem with more micromanaging. Why are USAID employees shredding and burning documents? The useless price gouging bill advances. Let's talk small modular nuclear reactors for a minute. Former State senator under investigation scrolling. Oh wait, no, no one is writing RTD. No toll roads are not
sending text messages about delinquent bills. Why don't we save the Seers building in Cherry Creek? Trump is the world's worst dictator. Cruise ship private islands are going to be a problem. Are Tariff's good? What is ruined skiing in Colorado? The Magic of exercise and preventing disease? Advice from a Jewish Grandma, Tim Allen talks about his mama. Those are the headlines on the blog at mandy'sblog dot com, And as you can tell.
I did a shorter blog. But I do have some really good videos on the blog.
I have a great diary of a CEO with a Harvard professor revealing these seven big lies about diet, exercise, sleep, and more super interesting stuff. I've got a Jewish Grandma's nineteen brilliant pieces of advice, Tim Allen talking to Mike Rowe about his mom being a real tough guy or gal. And an interesting short documentary on well it's called How Veil Destroyed Skiing.
Now.
I am not an avid skier. I have mentioned before. I can't seem to lose the fear of imminent death when I'm skiing. It's just didn't grow up skiing. And I understand all of you who did you love it? And I'm so happy for you. I'm thrilled you have something you love. It is not something that I see myself loving, but that's okay. But I saw this today and I was eating breakfast and I just I clicked
on it. I was like, okay, it's very interesting about how the corporatization of the mountains has led to skyrocketing price increases over crowds, I mean, just a lot of the issues that skiers talk about. So I put that on the blog today if you want to watch that when we go to see you basketball. In the meantime, I am a couple of things I want to do.
I have a video embedded on the blog today of Congressman Thomas Massey talking about the Content Anyway Resolution and why he voted against it, because he did indeed vote against it, even though it did pass the House of Representatives, it passed without his vote. But I want you to I want you to watch this for a couple of reasons. One, I got an email from someone who said, Mandy, it's sell a parent that you are just friends with Thomas Massey because of your tibe in Kentucky.
That you're not willing to see.
Him for what he is, which is an obstructionist who doesn't want to be a team player.
And it's so much more.
Than the fact that I have personal affection for Thomas Massey. And to be clear, you guys, we are friendly. We don't call each other, you know, we don't braid each other's hair. We don't have dinner together, we don't do any of those things. We are friendly, but I am trying to help you guys understand. He is the lone Republican trying to live up to Republican promises when it
comes to cutting spending. And when you watch this video it's about eight minutes long, you'll understand and why he voted no in all honesty, I hope it would infuriate you. Now the House Freedom Caucus has voted a big, fat yes, and they sent out an official tweet today because that's where all politics is happening right now, is happening on the X platform.
I want to just share part of this with you.
The House Freedom Caucus supports the Fiscal Year twenty twenty five Continuing Resolution.
Contrary to Congress's longtime.
Abuse of this legislative tool, this CR is a paradigm shift. The bill will reduce and then free spending for the next six months to allow President Trumps in his administration to continue their critical work within the executive branch to find and eliminate waste, fraud, and abuse. It entirely kills the prospect of a budget busting, pork filled omnibus this fiscal year, and it breaks the long standing practice in the Swamp of handcuffing increases in defense funding with increases
to the non defense bureaucracy. Furthermore, it can zero earmarks, makes major recisions to the IRS and the so called Commerce slush fund, and includes additional funding for immigration important enforcement and deportation operations. Perhaps most importantly, it prevents Democrats from derailing the America First Agenda with a goat nowhere government shut down within the first six months of funding.
This bill provides Freedom Caucus members look forward to working hand in hand with Doge omb and the new Cabinet secretaries and eliminating even more waste, fraud, and abuse, and enacting historic spending reforms via reconciliation, all as part of President Trump's effort to balance the budget.
Now, if you watch the video by Thomas Massey, you.
Will see him say very clearly, essentially he has no faith that by September the Republicans who are looking ahead to the midterms are going to continue to have the backbone that they allegedly have here by voting for this giant continuing resolution that still continue used to fund pretty much everything. Joe Biden started in his term, so you
know it passed, it's going to pass the Senate. Thomas Massey also points out in that video that the bill is going to pass simply because the Democrats already have an off site retreat planned for as soon as they, you know, bring the gabble down, and as soon as the House voted, they gabbled out the house and send everyone home. So that means the Senate can't make any changes to it, and they either have to pass it
or they don't. So it's already baked it And he says it will pass with Democratic support because this is, as he calls it, another unit party bill. So it's it's more of the same in DC. And I have been waiting for I don't even know how many years, don't even know. Wait a minute, the Big twelve. They're in the PAC twelve, aren't they. Where do they play basketball?
A rod? I got a Texas Senate. It's the Big twelve, not the PAC twelve. Big twelve. He used to be in the pack. Oh yeah, well then why when I pulled it up earlier?
Pack?
Let me see here.
I believe you, but I'm wondering what I did because I googled PAC twelve tourney, and you're right, you are a correct Texter in Aerda. I don't know what happened there. I googled PAC twelve tourney and see you Buff's information came up. Maybe because they geo cashed me into Colorado.
I don't know. So we shall see. The bill's going to pass. He just wants to get attention.
Of course, he wants to get attention because he's watching Republicans do the same.
Thing over and over and over and over again, and he's sick of it.
Something happened in the last year that meant many people may not know, but Thomas Massey's wife died very unexpectedly. She was a young woman and they've been together since junior high. And he told a reporter for Politico, he said, you thought I had zero blanks to give before, I have even fewer now. He really doesn't care if he gets re elected. He got sent to DC to cut spending and he's the only one. Rand Paul also is going to vote against it. By the way, didn't Trump
ignorse the bill. He's an obstructionist if he's going against Trump's mandate. The first president to actually attack the budget That is not true at all. You just have to go back and look to the Clinton administration, where because Newke Gingrich was able to rally the troops in Congress, the Republican Congress passed a balanced budget and Bill Clinton signed it, mostly because he knew he couldn't overcome the filibuster or they could overcome the filibuster.
So you guys, the notion that somehow we all have to just whatever Trump says, that's what we do. That's just that's just idle worship, that's.
Just elevating a man two above party politics and everything else. Of course Trump, once it passed, he doesn't have to deal with it. I'll believe it when I see it. I'll believe it when I see it in September. I'll believe it when I see twelve different bills to manage spending.
I'll believe it when I see it.
I don't believe it now because how many times Texter have you been lied to by the government by Republicans who said, Hey, elect us, we're worried about debt and deficits. Elect us, We're worried about spending because we know how dangerous it is for the country. And yet during the first Trump administration, they exploded the national debt exploded it.
It wasn't even funny. Now, granted COVID was a huge part of that, but not all of it.
They still would have exploded the debt by about four trillion dollars over his term. That's okay with you, because I don't know what is no it's called a mandate. Can we stop with the mandate stuff?
You guys?
Donald Trump did not win the biggest majority. He won all of the swing states. He won, but it was a squeaker. I know Republicans love to say it was a mandate, it was a mandate. The Colorado Democrats in Colorado have a better argument that their elections were a mandate than the Republicans. And do you like what they're doing to the state under their quote mandate? Mandy, I love you, I enjoy your show. But Thomas Massey is
just a rhino. He votes no on everything. He's a waste of a congressional seat and should be voted out. I know you don't agree with it, but that's my feeling. You are coming from a position of ignorance because the thing you don't realize about Thomas Massey is he's actually displaying the ideals that Republicans have been telling us they have and then lying once they got into office. So if you'd rather be lied to by everybody else, that's fine,
That's perfectly fine. This Texter, I must have missed Doge in the previous Republican administrations. This continuing RESILU funds all of the things that Doge just canceled.
So don't give me Doge. DOAGE can't do crap without Congress. And you know what Congress just did. They funded usaid, They funded everything that DOAG said needed to be cut. So yeah, okay, okay, people, Okay, here's the story that I really love locally here, and that is this, with all.
Of the issues we have in Colorado, with everything that the legislature could tackle, they're wasting time on two bills that I think are so ridiculous and stupid and an utter waste of time that they should be ashamed of themselves. One is this idiotic anti gouging bill. It's so freaking dumb, so dumb. And now we have another one house build twelve forty three.
House Built twelve.
Forty three prohibits Colorado peace officers from asking drivers or passengers if they know the reason for a traffic stop.
We've all had this experience. You get pulled over.
You are sitting there with your hands at ten and two on the wheel, with your window.
Cracked or down.
The cop walks up to your car and he looks at you and says, do you know why I pulled you over?
There's a couple purposes for this question.
One of them is so that the police officer or the state patrol or whatever can begin to assess if you are impaired. It also serves the purpose of having you cop to whatever crime they just pulled you over for, right, Like, do you know why I pulled you over? Well, I was speeding a little bit. I guess you're basically you just basically admitted it. My father, the late attorney, told me when I was a kid. My father was very pro cop. I should say this, very pro cop. Some
of his best friends were law enforcement. He was always a supporter of law enforcement. But he was also pro if the cops ever want to talk to you, you better have a lawyer there every single time. And he said, look, when you get pulled over, you're gonna put your hands on ten and two you're gonna roll down the window.
You're gonna wait till the cop walks up.
And if the cop says, do you know why I pulled you over, you look at him and said I thought you'd know, and then leave it at that because you've responded, but you have not You've not given up any information.
This is so stupid. It's so stupid. And by the way, saying oh, I thought you would know is not disrespectful. It's not you'd be in a jerk.
It's just not playing their game. But now Democrats are trying to outlaw the practice. What we don't have anything else to work on. We have no other problems than Colorado that deserve the kind of attention that this idiotic piece of legislation is going to get.
I mean, come on, just come on. That's on the blog today. We also have a story today.
Ukraine yesterday agreed to a thirty day ceasefire that was proposed by the Trump administration. In response, Russia fired a bunch of missiles into Ukraine, killing I think five or six civilians as they blew up houses and other stuff.
So that's kind of a clear answer.
Now, Mark Arubio said something very interesting he said that they were going to see what Putin said, and then if he declined to do the ceasefire, it would be apparent what the deterrent to peace actually was.
This is a very interesting development in this.
Situation because if now we've already exerted pressure on Ukraine. Now if Russia doesn't come to the table with any goodwill, if Russia says, screwed you, we don't want to ceasefire, We're not going to do it, then what kind of pressure does the Trump administration put on Russia? And does that tamp down the conversation of Troup just wants to give it all away, because if he's really truly just getting them to the table, as he said he is,
then let's see what happens next. Russia says, by the way, they need to see the terms of the ceasefire deal before they respond, but they want to make sure they're gonna get theirs out of it.
Yeah, Mandy, I used to be a cop.
During traffic stops, you immediately let the person know why you pulled him over. There were no games, no bs, We got the business, we took care of it, and they.
Were on their way.
I have been asked when I first moved here, I was doing the morning show on k HEW. So I was leaving my house in Douglas County at like four o'clock in the morning. Now, when you stop at seven eleven at four o'clock in the morning, the only people in that seven eleven are guys who are in the construction industry, who are in the trades.
They're all in their trucks, you know, they're getting ready to go to work. And me, it would be me.
So I got pulled over in the first eight months that I lived here four times at four fifteen in the morning as I was leaving seven to eleven.
Now, the first time, I was like, maybe I was speeding.
I don't know.
I got a warning. CoP's like, oh, you know you were going a little faster. You got a warning.
Second time, now I'm annoyed because I know I'm not speeding. Second time, the cop comes it do you know why I pulled you over? I was like, well, I figured you would know, and he said, well, you were swerving and I was like, I do not think so. And then he hits me with a where are you on your way from? And I said, I'm on my way from my house to my job that begins very shortly here, and you're going to make me.
Laid for it. And he lets me go with a warning for something I was pretty sure I didn't do.
Third person pulls me over, walks up to the car, and I was like, okay, officer, what's the problem?
Before I even walked up to the car, because now I'm annoyed. Fourth guy that stopped me, he stopped me.
He walks up to the car and I said to him, Office, I am going from my house to my job. You obviously think I'm doing some kind of walk of shame home. But this is the fourth time I've been pulled over in six months going to work, stone cold sober. So can you spread the word that my car is okay? And can you just let me drive to work in the morning. And he started laughing, and I was like, I know you thought I was some kind of drunk driver on the way over to the bar, but that's ridiculous,
and can you guys please stop pulling me over. That was the last time I got pulled over on the way to work. So yeah, it's a little bit of a sensitive topic for me, just a little bit. Mandy copspeak is always the same. Do you know why I stop?
You answer no? Where are you going? Where are you coming from? Only answer home and work only in all ways. Here's the thing, you, guys. I don't mind answering where I'm coming and going to.
I don't mind being respectful and decent and answering the questions, but don't be an idiot about it. And I'm come on, how many times do you have to get pulled over at the same time on the same strip of road.
By the way, I forgot that part.
It was like the same three quarter like track of road. Damn lawless Mandy, that's me, that's me.
I'm out of control. I'm out of control. Okay, So a couple of things that I'm digging into today. One of them is.
This seems like it should be something we should be concerned about, but I don't know all the details, so I'm just kind of taking a wait and see.
But it does seem sus as the kids say. Today, US eight employees.
Were instructed by Acting Executive Secretary Eric Akarr to clear out classified safes and personnel documents and to meet in the building's lobby for an all day shredding and burning.
Event of those documents, and I was like, wait, what, what why? What's the why here? What? Why are we shredding stuff?
Why?
Why?
That is on the blog today, very interesting thread by a kid named Chris Martz. Chris is a meteorology meteorology student I believe, I believe he's studying it, but he's started a really neat x feed where he digs into stats and interesting information. And today's bit of interesting information he dug into is about net zero and net zero people telling us that solar and wind are cheaper than fossil fuels. And he created a little bit of inconvenient
truth because he went and put on a grid. The side of the grid that goes to the right says percent of electrical grid with solar and or wind Okay. On the left side it has the average killawatt per hour rate for electricity. So you would think that as the percent of electrical grid with solar and wind was greater than the price would go down. Because that's what we're being told by Jerry pullis everything is so much cheaper.
Oh my gosh, it's gonna be amazing. Guess what he found the exact opposite Denmark has the highest percentage of the electrical grid powered with solar and wind, and they have some of the highest power prices.
In this entire chart. So there you go, There you go. We're gonna get that.
Swerving as a catch all to pull people over. I got pulled over once for leaving a stoplight too slowly. I respect the hell out of law enforcement, but some are just I won't say that. I can't say the last word on the air anyway. No one is writing RTD. This is on the blog today. RTD ridership is horrible, and it has not recovered from COVID, and it doesn't look like it's going to recover anytime soon.
Hey, Ron, are you available to take a real quick guess.
On how much RTD's ridership grew from twenty twenty three to twenty twenty four as a percentage?
How much? I was gonna say, yeah, double, So I don't know, percentage fifty percent, you'd say you're little high.
It is point one percent, uh yeah, point one percent, not even just one percent point one percent from sixty five point seven million rides, they say ridership rides in twenty twenty three, sixty five point one seven million in twenty twenty three to sixty five point twenty three million.
And this isn't going to get any better.
I'm telling you right now, we're all worried about mass transit and driverless cars on demand are going to render it completely completely useless, totally useless. Mandy pulled you from traffic because you're blonde. I got pulled over by a chick, a dame, a gal, a woman, So I don't know about that anyway. So the RTV story is on the
blog today as well. Ay Rod, we got to talk about this other story at length because you're now a new cruiser and you did you like, did you guys go to one of the private islands for carnival when you were on your cruise?
No, we are doing that in November on the cruise. We just puked.
Well, I gotta tell you, I I love and hate the private island or private beach club concept.
I love them because they're super fun, right, I.
Mean, they're just so awesome and so much fun, and they're usually included with the price, so it's so good. But I hate them because cruise ships bring in a lot of crowds and pollution and all that stuff, but often they make it way too easy for you not to have any kind of local experience, correct Rundo, Yeah, and that is like my love hate relationship with them.
This is why my biggest argument for a Hiwaii Hawaii trip. Are you going to Hawaii to go to Hawaii or you want to be feel like you're on the mainland. I love going to Kona, the big island grandparents lived for thirty years, because that feels like Hawaii. Go to waiki Kei, go to all the big resorts that's not Hawaii.
So I'm with you.
I like to do on each trip a little bit of both a little bit of authenticity and a little bit of resort getaway.
And they're doing more and more of these, and I see a clash coming in some of these destinations. Like Royal Caribbean is about to open a huge private beach club in the Bahamas and a lot of locals are like, no, this is not good, we don't like it, and I think this is going to be a problem going forward. Although Royal Caribbean did cut a really good deal that gives a lot of money back to the local community. Okay, there's so much other stuff including a column that argues
that tariffs are good, plus some great videos. We'll be back for what I think is going to be a full show tomorrow.
Is it. We don't know.
You'll just have to find out. But in the meantime, see you Buffs basketball coming up next on Koa
Making
