It's a "Doubleheader Wednesday" as we have two shows back to back tonight. First, at 9:30pm UK- we speak with Gav aka @shewore about some controversial online debate about Arsenal Fandom. It'll be a respectful debate despite the potential differences of opinion. Then, at 10pm we'll be discussing how the absolutely "Rampant" Arsenal that we all used to know returned in a dominant performance... ok who are we kidding. We beat another Championship-level squad by the smallest margin possible, 1-nil ...
Join us LIVE in studio at www.gooneropenmic.com an hour after the final whistle of Arsenal v. Norwich to chat about the team's performance and anything else you want!
It's a club in shambles. 24 hours to the end of the transfer window and the dressing room is precipitously teetering on the edge of being lost. Can Mikel Arteta patch things up after the international break or is it too late? Who can possibly replace him? How much deeper into the sand can we keep burying our head? Tonight we've welcomed Sophie Nicolaou of the Highbury Squad & Ryan Rocastle into our arms to sort through this pivotal time for Arsenal Football Club.
Join us live on the show at www.gooneropenmic.com and have your say on the game! You decide what we talk about!
Its another gut-punching loss for the Arsenal, not unexpected but as unpleasant as ever. It's another 2-0, this time in front of a full returning crowd at the Emirates against Chelsea. We welcome back Sergio Piraino who is old-school Chelsea but is a fantastic guy with a great story. Have a laugh, a cry, and a snuggle with TGP.
It's the first home game of the year and a massive London derby v. Chelsea. Whatever the outcome, come and share your thoughts on the game, our new signings, the Kroenke's statement, and whatever else you feel like! Join us backstage at www.gooneropenmic.com and hang on until we bring you on the live pod! Update: We sucked.
Time to focus on what's going right, cuz it ain't on the pitch! Magic Mike, Eoin, Mikey Herz, and Jared commiserated over: #AFCShambles #BREARS #5YearsOfTGP #SuttonTilWeDie #ToxicPositiNegativity #DressingRoomLost? #NextGaffer? #XhakaPayRise #U23Massacre and much more!
Panic Stations. Join us 1 hour after the end of the Season Kickoff game v. Brentford to share your thoughts, melt down, whatever you need to do! Simply to go www.gooneropenmic.com, get in the backstage queue and have your say on the show!
Hour 24 - the end of an incredible journey of generosity, fun, games, Gooner Family, and outstanding guest appearances.
The penultimate hour of the Podathon was a fun one - a fun game played with our mates from the Same Old Arsenal Podcast - Harry Symeou, Dan Potts, Lee Judges (and Craig Scott in spirit as he was working). Ryan Rocastle stuck around for the game which led to tons of laughs.
Hour 22 of 24 begins the home stretch and joining us is are our friends from the Highbury Squad, SoccerDiva Sophie Nicolaou and the legend Super Kevin Campbell (resplendent in his Dickie Bow for Dickie Bow Thursday) - also joining us was Arsenal player and ESPN's (and new FIFA) commentator Stewart Robson and Ryan Rocastle!
In hour 21 we welcome in the cult-hero of all Arsenal cult-heroes - Perry Groves who is still very much involved in the club in many ways. Ryan Rocastle joins us as well and it's a fun chat with plenty of laughs, which is a natural side effect of chatting with Perry!
Hour 20 of the 24 hour podcast, Mike is getting sleepy but is full of adrenaline as we welcome in friend of the pod Charles Watts. We ask the obvious question - "Maddison News?" but focus maybe a bit too much time talking about professional wrestling. It's a fun chat!
Hour 19 included a great chat with James Benge, football (soccer?) correspondent for CBS Sports.
Hour 18 of 24 is a welcome return to TGP for the best right back in Arsenal's history - Lee Dixon. We have some laughs with Lee, pick his brain on all things Arsenal, football, and yes, FIFA. We were joined by some very sleepy folks with questions, specifically Darren from Wales and Jake Feinberg (from 10 feet away from his dad Mike).
In hour 17 we go inside Arsenal Football Club to hear from a man who bleeds Arsenal and has been the smiling face and friendly voice to the Lifeblood of the local and foreign supporters - the massive network of Supporters Clubs in London, England, and around the world. We hear about Mark's close call with a laughable "redundancy" designation and what fans can expect in the season to come.
Hour 16 and still going strong, bouyed by the company of the Podfather Andrew Mangan aka Arseblog, and James McNicholas of the Athletic who has recently released "The Champ and the Chump" as a followup to his great pre-COVID stage show.
A great hour with special guests Jon Smyth and his friend Max who recently lost his mother to cancer. If you want to learn about what the Gooner Family really means, this is the segment for you!
It's hour 14 of 24, the 8am hour in the UK, 3am local time for Mike and we're still going strong! We welcome in Max Ware from Australia and Mike from Scunthorpe for some banter and Arsenal talk!
In hour 13 of 24, Mike welcomes in Fergus of the Guns and Yellow Ribbons Podcast to share his learnings drawn from an excellent 8-part, 10 hour series on his channel called "The History of Arsenal." At times like this, it truly helps to understand the deep, treasured history of our club. We're joined as well at times by our mate Steve Warrington. Have a watch!
Hour 11 of the pod and it was Magic Mike, Eoin, Mikey Herz and Miami/Chicago Jon revealing themselves in a very personal matter. No, there was nudity but you might have preferred it to the revelations that sprouted from this hour.
Hours 9-10 of the 24-hour podathon includes the crossover of The Gooners Podcast & the NAAP (Sebby, Kelly, Mike Herz) crew to play a game called "Take it or Leave it."
Hours 7-8 of the 24 hour podathon were a relaxed roundtable with Magic Mike and Eoin welcoming in Jared (since added to the TGP roster), the great Sophie Nicolaou of the Highbury Squad, and 2 of the most handsome Gooners around (JJ Garcia and Jake Feinberg)!
Hours 5-6 of the 24-hour Podathon starred a great game put together by Mike McDonald of the Gunnerstown.com blog called "Who am I" 38 challenging questions and 4 talented contestants plus Magic Mike trying to get the answers. Ryan Fletcher, Jimmy Howson, Danny the GFP and Eoin scramble in a very close battle to see how takes home the bragging rights!
We move from strength to strength as we welcome Chris Wheatley of Football.London back to the pod for a return appearance. Massive news is broken during the segment, specifically the revelation that Arsenal will be traveling to the Hawthornes for a 2nd round (yes 2nd round) fixture in the Carabao Cup.
Hour 11 of the pod and it was Magic Mike, Eoin, Mikey Herz and Miami/Chicago Jon revealing themselves in a very personal matter. No, there was nudity but you might have preferred it to the revelations that sprouted from this hour.
In our 2nd hour of 24 we were graced with the always-enjoyable Alan Smith, former striker extraordinaire for Arsenal Football Club and scorer of some incredibly historic goals for our club.
The first hour of the 24-hour podcast includes some background and details of this unprecedented event, followed by 45 minutes of banter with our mate Elliot Smith aka YankeeGunner of the Arsenal Vision Podcast.
So Arsenal are hanging out in London instead of in Orlando, where Magic Mike went anyways to revel in Goonerdom with a few hundred of his mates. The TGP crew catch up on the news of the week in the Arsenal world, Mike shares an absolutely bizarre dream, we talk about whatever comes to mind.
