We just beat the Mavericks in Game three, very fun and intense game. Oh by the way, for those of y'all who's been tuning into the show are lovely supporters that we appreciate. You probably noticed that I don't know
what this thing is called. I'm just called a microphone cover because that's about the deepest my knowledge with microphone goes. So I want to call this a microphone cover. And if you probably notice it's been missing Jackson told me to put it back on the day. But the reason I've been taking it off is because I always look at the video and I never noticed when I'm recorded, and I always look at the video and be like this.
So I finally was just like, I'm I'm gonna take it off, and Jackson just told me to put it back on. So if it ends up like this, I need you all to scream and yell and say, hey, the MIC's messed up. Actually, we'll say that for when we do some live podcasts and are some of our supporters can show up, because we're definitely going to do that. But UM, let's actually get into Game three, Dallas Mavericks versus to go to the State Warriors. Um, we were able to take that game one o nine to one
hundred to take a three oh lead. UM. Very fun game to play in. Steph got it go on. I think Steph finished the game with thirty one eleven and five or six. Stuff has been absolutely incredible. He's been rebounding the ball great, which is huge in this series because you get long rebounds. Obviously, Dallars shoots a ton of threes, and when you shoot a ton of threes, the long rebounds and rebounds are gonna bounds to a little over the first guys that are boxing out to
the free throw line area. However, with Steph, Steph doesn't just get long rebounds. Steph gets into gets in the thick of things and comes up with rebounds and so H. One thing we've always known that Steph is a great rebounder, especially at his size and at the guard position. He's always been an incredible rebounder and he continues that through this series. Um, but I think for me watching Steph play, I know someone asked me tonight, like what's the difference
and stuff? Is he more motivated because people were saying, like, Lucas now the point guard in the NBA, and it's him, and it's that motivated him, and Lucas an incredible player. I don't. I don't. I'm not sure Steph had heard that, because, like I told them, I hadn't heard that, Like I hadn't heard anyone like oh, it's a changing of the guard and Lucas now the point guard in the NBA and it's no longer Steph Curry. I hadn't heard any
of that talk. I also don't pay attention to much talk like that, and so I can't say that that motivated Steph Curry. What I what I know for certain motivated Steph Curry is that it's been this is now your three of us having not been in the finals.
We can change that and make it a two year drought, but this is the third year of that and so oh not playing in the finals for two straight years, losing and playing games last year, We're back, We're healthy, and that's enough motivation in itself to get to the to get to the conference finals and then obviously on to the finals. Um, you know, we we we became accustomed to winning all the time, and then you don't
and it just fills off. And so you know, we we we understand that we don't have ten years of basketball left together and we have to take advantage of our opportunities and we want to add more rings. And so that right there is enough motivation in itself. Um. I thought Wiggins played incredibly well. Everybody knows Wiggins played incredibly well. The defense he's been playing on Luca has been absolutely amazing. The thing that I love mostes he's
picking him up four court. Every time he brings the ball up to court. And number one, the amount of energy that that takes is through the roof. Now, most guys that pick guys up for a court they're not doing it on the offensive end. He's doing it on both ends of the floor. And it's not one particular thing. It's not just threes, it's not just mid range shots, it's not just getting to the cup. It's like all
of these things. And what I've been most impressed with on the offensive it with Wiggin is not only this series, but past two series before this one. It's his offensive rebounding and coming up with extra possessions and even the ones that he don't actually come up with, he's getting his hand on him and just create an extra possession and calls and have it. It's been absolutely amazing what he's been able to do. Kavin loonely with another stellar game.
I think he had nine points, twelve rebounds, and four
assists or something like that. Uh, Loon has really come on and I'm happy to see Loon playing the way he's playing because this is this is what we all known Loon always of impacts winning and it's starting to show up in the statue now and it's showing up in a way to where the rest of the world can say, oh man, that guy is playing well, because if it don't show up in the stat sheet, most people don't have a clue what's going on a basketball game.
Although they think they do. Most people don't have a clue what's going on in the basketball game. And they will say, oh man, he sucks, or he's this, or he's that, and he's been absolutely amazing one of one of them. And I spoke about this before, UM, and I'll say it again for those that didn't hear it before. One of the things that I get the biggest joy out of is I've seen it for years people called
Loom up into the screen. They think they got oh man, I see this guy can go by him, and he just defends and defends and uses his length well and doesn't buy it on fakes. And to see teams didn't realize, like, oh man, we can't call that guy into the screen. It always brings me great joy. So Loon has been absolutely amazing UM all playoffs long. By the way, he was incredible in the Dermon series too. We end up going small because we thought we had match up advantage
on the other end. By going small. But Loon has been amazing all year, play eighty two games, UM, come into these playoffs and been a true professional that we know he is, and he's been huge for us. I mean, the inside presence that he gives us. It's exactly what we were missing in that Memphis series when Steph and I went to coach like, Yo, we have to start Loom and the presence has been nervous every game ever since.
And so, uh, Loon has been absolutely amazing. I thought, uh, I thought Clay played a really good game last two games. His driving and kicking and getting the domino the fall, the first domino the fall has been incredible. He didn't shoot the ball particularly well tonight three for ten from re I think it was six for eighteen from the floor for nineteen points. But what was most beautiful about is he had great looks. And if you get great, if you give Clay times in great looks, I'm living
with that. Clay Thompson gonna make those. I'm never worried about that. And so I thought Clay was really key on the defensive end. Clay Clay was very good for us as well. UM, I mean overall total team effort for me. I had a piss poor first haive, piss poor, frustrated. Oh nine, Also, did y'all think I was over and back? All right? Just asking for your opinion? I don't I don't know. I'm not gonna give my opinion on that call, but I'm asking for your opinion. Maybe you can hashtag
out of Draymond Green Show. Wait, what's our hashtag? Jacks? Hashtag to Draymond Green Show and let me know if you thought it was over back and not. I'm gonna lead that up to you because you can't get fine, I can't, so you tell me what you think. But nonetheless,
I was frustrated. I was piste off and coming out the second half, I knew I had to be better if we were gonna win that game on the road, uh, that I had to be better on both ends of the floor, defensive end and the offensive end of the floor. And I thought I did a pretty good job with that.
Um really mad that my long two was a two, because you know, when I take the three, I like to make the three and no kind of although it's still kind of acted as a three, like it didn't count as a three, but it gave the effect of a three, and so it still felt pretty good. But no, I think for me, Uh, last game Game two, I spent the entire game partn UM frustrated, arguing with the rougherees, blah blah blah. I actually got a tech to knife for saying that's why, but badge monor I wear that
were pride, So it is what it is. But I think um coaches O text me actually after after the last game, and he said it in a very nice way. He said, Um, I'm gonna read the text to you because I don't want to get his words wrong. But he said it in a very nice way, which is not normal because he will usually just tell me like, hey, you were terrible, he said, Dave shake you, but you got the job done. In my humble opinion, y'all got
caught up in the officiating. You gotta realize you're the leader, and many follows that being said, you hit a big three point shot and a couple of big stops was key. They follow your lead, but you're still up to all. Good luck, brother, and that I knew exactly what he was saying. He didn't need to say much more. Um, and I responded to him, I said, coach, you're one thousand percent right. I let my emotions go overboard, and the team did follow. I have to be better, but
it short us feel good to win. And like I said, I knew exactly right away what he was saying. Um, I knew I needed to be better in that department and not let that affect my game negatively. And I think it had really affected my game negatively in game two, which ultimately affected us as a team negatively. Now we were able to win the game, and you know, when you can learn from your mistakes, would have win. Take that, and so I'll take it and just continue to move forward.
But I had I knew that I had to be better in that department coming into this game, and I thought I did a much better job there. And so obviously we're up three. Oh um, close out game, which we know is always the hardest game. Uh, this team is not going to come out and quit. They're not quitters. They're not led by acquitter that's a coach, and they're not led by their main guy is an acquitter either.
So we're not expecting that. But ultimately, if we come out, we execute our game plan, we play our brandom basketball. We should go back to San Francisco UM as a participant in the NBA Finals. And man, does that sound good? Because it's been a long cover year. I mean two years ago we won fifteen games. Let that resonate for a minute, five team games. I was ready to pull all my gray hairs out. Uh tow your I mean that's where quite a few of these came from, too.
You better know it, um. But to go from fifteen games two years ago, now obviously these little foods, gold clay was out. Stuff was out, we get it. But still was fifteen games. And it's still the same organization that won fifteen games. And here we are with an opportunity to close out a series on the road and head back to the NBA Finals. And I am thrilled. I absolutely love when I go on T and T and do the whole inside thing, but much rather be in the NBA Finals. And so we have that opportunity.
We have to make sure that we take advantage of it. UM, come out. I think one of the big keys in the game for US tonight was holding Reggie Bullock to zero points. You know, those guys come home, they get they get their shots going, and maybe he ended up scoring late, but for the majority of the game, I
know he has zero points. I'm not sure if he Jackson said he did finish with zero, And I thought that was a huge key because when they get those guys going, you already have to send a couple of bodies at Luca, and when they get those guys going and they're just knocking shots left and right, there really really really tough team to beat. So that was a big deal for us, um you know, and I think, uh, if we can do some of that next game. Obviously you may not hold him zero is probably gonna hit
the shot. He shoots the ball, but if we can contain him, uh dr and Phinney Smith Spencer, then with the better spencer, then we had a really good game tonight. Jalen Bronson Luca. It's tough to stop and Wiggins is doing an incredible job. But you're never gonna hold him a ten points or zero point. It's just not gonna happen. And so you have to do the job where you can do the job, and I think we've done a good job of that for the most part in this series.
So Game four on Tuesday will be a fun one. Um. We have to come out and take care of the ball like we did tonight, especially at the beginning of the game. We really put an emphasis on taking care of the ball at the beginning of the game and getting shots up, and we did a really good job. But that's so that's gonna be a big key, um, making sure we get off to a good start. You know they're gonna come out, They're gonna throw a haymaker to start the game. Everybody does, especially down three oh,
you feel like you've got nothing to lose. No one's gonna quit. So we have to be able to win standing the haymaker. And if we can win standing the haymaker and punch back, then the doubt starts to set in. And if we can get the doubt to set in, you make it, for lack of a better term, a lot easier on yourself, because it's never easy, but you make it a little easier on yourself. So take the haymaker, respond and then let it play out how it may.
But hopefully the next time I talk to you all, we will be up for the zero and done with this series and moving on to the NBA Finals. Actually, before we move on. I'd be remissed if I didn't talk about Andrew Wiggins dun Dunking on someone is incredible. You get, you know, momentum. It just feels good to dunk on somebody. But to dunk on Luca, that's a
different that's a different thing. You know. That's like, it's one thing to dunk on somebody's great, but when you dunk on one of the guys, like like Luca, as we all know Luca, one of them was he wanted the guys, Like when you get to when you get dunk on one of the guys, it's like much much bigger and such an incredible dunk um. I hate that it was the play was stopped by the offensive file call.
And although it's you know, we still got the two points in the dunk counted, it just sucks that those emotions weren't able to be felt right then during that game, like once the once the review happens and accounts and all of that, like that's cool, but it's not the same emotion then when when the dunk just happened, like Luca has to get up off the floor and dribble the ball up and Wiggins is picking him up fourth quarter, like,
that's a totally different thing, and that's a totally different emotion. And so it kind of sucks that the play just didn't go on and you didn't get to feel that emotion what that dunk should have brought um. But nonetheless, it is a highlight. It's one that will probably be the biggest hot sash top highlight on Andrew Wiggins career highlights.
Absolutely amazing. We've been telling Wigs slash asking him for years. Wiggs, when you go to the hole, just try to dunk, like we don't care if you make it or miss it. Nine times out of ten if you try it, he jumped so high and the pogo stick nine times out of ten, you're probably going to make it or get filed. And he's attacking the rim aggressively like that. And man, that was an incredible play. And I had a front row seat better than anyone else in that arena. It
was beautiful to see. Very exciting day for me, Uh not so much for Jackson. Last twenty four hours. Jackson, would you like to start off speaking about your your Celtics. I think I think we can leave it to you. I'm a little bit I'm a little disappointed. I don't know how the Celtics have only last two quarters but are down to one in this series. That's all right, It's all right. It sounds sounds very similar to Minnesota
and Memphis. Minnesota at one point they won four games and was down three to two, so they were a little worse off. But I think when I'm watching the game number one, the heat came out last night or two last night like they were piste off, like like like they were facing elimination. Um. The intensity level that they came out with was absolutely incredible. And I know I said this before a game too. I was a
little off by one game. It happened in game three, but I told you all, Bam A Tobayo was gonna come out way more aggressive offensively than he had been. And he didn't really so much in game two and part of the reason they got washed. But Game three, Bam came out hum and he's sixteen first half points, which is absolutely incredible. But he dominated on the paint and I and he took total advantage of Robert Williams
being out. You know, Robert Williams in that pain. There's a lot tougher matchup, not that BAM can't still do what he's done, but it's a lot tougher matchup, and Robert Williams is around that room, and I think BAM took total advantage of Robert Williams being out and BAM out off to a great start. He looked like the BAM out to buyou that we all know that we all have grown to love. And then everyone else filled
in around that. Then Max Strewth started hitting shots. Um, Max Stru's hit some big shots by the way, Uh, Kyle Lowi, uh start hitting a few shots, and and Tyler hero I. They're gonna have to lean on Tyler hero a lot more, especially if Jimmy is not out and BAM is going to have to continue being that BAM that we saw in Game three, because they're going
to they're going to need offense. Kyle Lowery's first game back after I mean, he's essentially missed a better part of the last five or six weeks, and I'm not so sure that you can expect a bunch from Kyle just because he's still finding this rhythm. Kyle's a pro cows the champion. He's been doing this, so I wouldn't be shocked if Kyle had a good game, but I also wouldn't go independent on it because he does have to find this rhythm and so they're gonna need a
lot for from Tyler Hero. But I thought the game really changed. And I know people say, oh, well the Celtics, I mean the Heat were up twenty six at one point, and blah blah blah. They had gained total control of that game. Even when they were down eleven or twelve points, they were in total control of the game. And I thought the game really changed back from Miami with Victor Oladipo's defense on Jalen Brown because Jayson Tatum was struggling.
Jt was struggling bad the whole game for the most part, and who had it going for them was Jaylen Brown. And Victor Oladipo came in, he got the stripped, then he made Jalen stumble when somebody else came over to steal, and then Jalen started getting off the ball. He wasn't
an attack mode like that. And then it got to the point where if you were watching, Allen was an attack mode when Vick wasn't on him, and as a defender there's no better feeling like, Oh, this guy don't think he can score on me anymore, so he's just gonna wait, wait, wait, then he gets somebody else and he's gonna attack as a defender. That's an advantage to the defender because I know now like, oh, he don't
want to see me. So when I get on him again, I'm getting that stop because he really don't believe he can score on me anymore. Now, not that Jalen Brown can't score on Victor Oladipo, but last night he struggled and Vic looked absolutely amazing. I was impressed with Vick's lateral movement coming off the injuries that he's come off. I'd be willing to bet if you stuck Victor Oladipo right here, right now he couldn't move latterly like that. That's no disrespected Victor. My point is is that's a
dog for you, that's a gamer. That's like you put me in any situation, I'm getting it done. I'm sure Victor can still move latterly, as he showed us last night. My point, more so was Vick has been a dog since I've seen him play and played against him at Indiana coming from d C d M v I, You're you're bred that way. And to see him go in that game after not playing in the first half, Jimmy goes down with an injury and he comes in piste off and you know what most people are gonna do.
They're gonna come in taking bad shots, like I can show you I can score, and like I'm gonna show you what I can do on offensive end. Mm hmm. He came in and showed you what he can do on the defensive end, because, believe it or not, that's what's gonna keep you on the floor. Because Jalen Brown ain't coming off the floor. Jason Tatum ain't coming off the floor. You need someone to guard those guys p J's garden, j t You need somebody to guard Jalen Brown.
And so I thought his mindset and how he approached that was after relutely fabulous is showed up on Maybe not in a stat sheet, but it definitely showed up if you were watching the game and knew what you're looking at. And most importantly, it helped them pull out a much needed win going into Boston, Tide one on one they took back home court advantage, and now we'll see going in tomorrow if they can get greedy, it's gonna be very, very important that Jimmy Butler can get
out there and play in Game four. But if not, someone else has step up. If I'm guessing Jimmy probably won't play. Because if you're the Heat and you're like, maybe he can play, maybe he can't, then are is your thought process? We took home court advantage back. We can get him another couple of days of rest to let the inflammation settle down that they said was there,
and then we'll have him back at home. The only tricky thing about that is in the playoffs, you you always want to give your best shot because all it takes for one game to change the series. Um, all it takes is one slip up and you go home and then all of a sudden you look up and you're down three two, like, WHOA, but I thought he was getting Jimmy back, and and so you never want
to squander away an opportunity in the playoffs. So, and we know how tough Jimmy is, and we know how tough the Miami organis, Miami Heat organization is, and so if Jimmy can be out there. Jimmy's gonna be out there. But sometimes the thought process is, uh, we're going back or we're getting at a couple of days. You take those extra couple of days. So we'll see. That's gonna be interesting because that's that's gonna play a big part in the Miami Heat team that we see take the
court in Game four. I'm expecting JT to have a much better game, but you also have to give credit to p J Tucker's defense. P J tuckers all over him. He's he's playing physical, and you know p J deserves that credit. But I do expect JT to get it going more. Marcus Smart came back in the game and he was huge. Now, Smarty, we do got to talk about you screaming and y'alling like that champ and coming
back in the game. There must be something going on in Boston because that seems to be a thing of guy's leaving the game and agonizing pain allot of Paul Piers and come Paul Piers got wheelchaired off. That's a whole another level of like I'm hurt to get taken off in a wheelchair and come back in the game. But I tell you what it sh'll be feeling like Rocky interests with them guys coming back to the game Boston.
JT went out for a second, came back. It feels like them people chatting for Rocky when them boys coming back in there. But Marcus Smart came back in. He played in the credible game. As soon as he got back in. I knew that three was going in as soon as he put the ball down. That's just who Marcus Smart is. You have to expect that. But big game for them tomorrow. And actually Marcus Smart kept them in a game offensively because Vic, like I said, started
getting to j B. J T was already struggling. Where were they getting the points from. Marcus Smart was the one creating everything offensively, which kept them in the game and actually gave him a chance. I think at one point they cut at the nine two and maybe but yeah, they cut at the nine and so and and it was it was Marcus. Marcus was making plays, getting off the ball, making shots, getting to the rim. And so I'm expecting a very aggressive Marcus Smart tomorrow. But I'm
also expecting JT to play better as well. And I have the Miami heat tying up the series. I'm sorry, I have the Boston Celtics tying up the series to the two headed back to Miami. Um, I'm interested to see if Jimmy plays. That's huge for the Miami Heat. But I got it going back to Miami tied up to the two. Looking at a long six or seven games series. That's what I'm thinking we shall see. But before we get out of here because I need to
get some rest, although I don't sleep after games. By the way, before we get out of here, we got a couple of mailback questions. Jack's You've got the mail back questions for us. I do reminder to hashtag the Draymond Green Show on Twitter to submit your questions, and also reminder to follow the new Instagram account at Draymond Show. We still have a jersey giveaway active, so just go follow comment with a friend's name on that post. It will be entered into the jersey giveaway. But for now,
the mail bag. First one from at playoff Draymond. What is Draymond's favorite game winning defensive stop? My god, Charlie, that's my man, Charlie. Um, what's my favorite game winning defensive stop? That's a good question from Charlie. You know, you know who actually knows and probably has the answer to this question, Charlie, Charlie. Charlie knows all this stuff better than me. Um, my favorite one, I'd have to
think long and deep for my favorite one. But what I will tell you as be being that I have a couple already. This playoff run the Jaren Jackson just jumps out at me. Why because Jared was having a good game Number one, number two. That's my little brother, and if he hits that shot and having a game
that he's having, I never hear the end of it. Um, It's just like when Miles Bridges gave me with that trash hookie through and in Charlotte, Like I went to the group chat right away, I gave Draymond blah blah blah blah blah. Actually I told them like, yo, y'all, Miles just gave me because I knew Myles was on
this way. You're like, yeah, I was just about to come tell y'all know, And I would have never heard the end of that, and especially with the game Jaren was having, and so that just felt great to me for my own personal reasons as far as overall though, Man, Charlie, we're gonna bring Charlie on the show, and Charlie gonna run a defensive clinic for y'all with with with with with my highlights and tell you which one was the best.
I'm gonna have to get back to you on now with Charlie from JMO at JMO seven seven zeros here at one. How long does it take to break down game film? It doesn't take very long, um, JMO, because they cut out all of you know, they cut out all of the in between stuff. So and looking at the game film, it's usually forty six to forty nine minutes or so of actual game time when you're sitting
here watching, and so it doesn't really take that long. Now, where it gets tricky as you start watching over and over and over again, because just like any movie, if you go watch a movie right now and then you watch it again tomorrow, you're gonna see something different that
you missed. And so where where it gets tricky, and and you're watching a bunch of films, you're watching that over and over and over again, seeing different things, you know, and catching different things, and like, oh man, we can do that here, we can do that there, and so that's where it gets tricky. It's just the amount of times that you're watching it over and over again. But watching the actual film, it doesn't take a ton of
a bunch of times. Obviously you're stopping and starting, you're rewinding, and so realistically, to breakdown one game for me normally
takes like an hour and fifteen to an hour. But then it was, like I said, those hours climb once you watch it over and over again, as you could imagine last one from Mitch at Mitch Bread, what's your proudest moment, not on the basketball court, My probast moment, not on the basketball court, is I live at daily and that's um, having an incredible fiance, that's having incredible children, UM, and being the best man that I can be for
them on a daily basis. And the reality is and sometimes you fall shorter that and you know every day it's a new day and you're chasing that greatness on that side of things. But for me, um, that is my biggest accomplishment slash my proudest moment. It's my family. UM. They are everything to me. They make it all worth it. They make getting up in the morning when I don't
feel like getting up, Um, they make that possible. And then the support that I received from them and just being able to do what I can to give back to them, that that's always what I'm most proud of. Appreciate that Miss Brad giving me an opportunity to talk about my family. Absolutely love them, They're absolutely amazing. Until next time from The Draymond Green and Show. Hopefully the next time I am talking to y'all, I'm talking about we're headed to the NBA Finals. That's how it should be.
Maybe that's how it's gonna be. We'll see. Until next time. Appreciate you all, love and support from The Draymond Green Show Live from Dallas to wrap Peace
