Episode description

Sir John Kirwan is an All Black legend. But its what he has done since retiring from sport that has made him an all-round legend.

15 years ago JK reluctantly spoke publicly about his depression and mental health struggles (we discuss his reluctance in this chat- I won't tell you who pushed him into doing it!)

I’m absolutely fizzing about sharing this one- just in time for Mental Health awareness week in New Zealand- Sir John Kirwan.

Mental health has never had more chat that what it currently gets. This guy was the trailblazer. NOBODY really talked about this stuff publicly before Sir John.

There are so many tips, tricks and tools from JK in this conversation that we can all use to improve our mental health. We also reminisce a little bit about his time as a butcher, an All Black and a DB Bitter Warrior.

If this episode triggers anything, PLEASE chat to someone you trust. Or text 1737 anytime (NZ). You’ll get to chat to a trained counsellor.
