ಚೌಕಾಬಾರ, ಅಲುಗುಳಿಮನೆ, ಪಗಡೆ, ಇಂತಹ ಹಲವಾರು ಆಟಗಳು ನಮ್ಮ ದೇಶದಲ್ಲಿ ಹುಟ್ಟಿ ಬೆಳೆದಿವೆ. ಆದರೆ, ಈಚೀನ ದಿನಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಡಿಜಿಟಲ್ ಆಟಗಳ ಮಧ್ಯೆ ಇವೆಲ್ಲ ಮರೆಯಾಗುತ್ತಿವೆ. ಹಲವು ತಲೆಮಾರುಗಳಿಂದ ಬಂದ ಈ ಆಟಗಳಿಗೆ ಪುನರ್ಜನ್ಮ ನೀಡಿರುವವರಲ್ಲಿ ಒಬ್ಬರು ಶ್ರೀರಂಜಿನಿ ಅವರು.
ಶ್ರೀರಂಜಿನಿ ಅವರು 'ಕವಡೆ' ಎಂಬ ಒಂದು ಸಂಸ್ಥೆಯನ್ನು ನಡೆಸುತ್ತಾರೆ. ಈ ಪ್ರಯತನದ ಮೂಲಕ ಇವರು ಸುಮಾರು ಹಳೆಯ ಕಾಲದ ಆಟಗಳನ್ನು ಮತ್ತೆ ಚಾಲ್ತಿಗೆ ತಂದಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ನಮ್ಮ ತಲೆ-ಹರಟೆ ಪಾಡ್ಕಾಸ್ತಿನ 26ನೆ ಎಪಿಸೋಡಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಇವರ ಈ ಪಯಣದ ಹಾಗೂ ಪ್ರಯತ್ನದ ಬಗ್ಗೆ, ಗಣೇಶ್ ಚಕ್ರವರ್ತಿ ಹಾಗೂ ತಕ್ಷಶಿಲಾ ಸಂಸ್ಥೆಯ ಸೌಮ್ಯ ನಂದನ್ ಅವರ ಜೊತೆ ಮಾತನಾಡುತ್ತಾರೆ.
There are many board games across the world. Although, several of them originated in India, they are on the brink of extinction. Sreeranjini is one of those individuals who are endeavouring to revive the interest of ancient board games in India. On Episode 26 of the Thale-Harate Kannada Podcast, Sreeranjini speaks to Ganesh Chakravarthi and Takshashila Institution's Sowmya Nandan about her endeavour and the many challenges she encountered in making this a reality.
Sreeranjini is the founder of Kavade, a store as well as an endeavour to revive traditional games. Housing a range of Indian and international games, Kavade is a one-of-a-kind store in Bengaluru that brings families and generations together, over simple pastime pleasures.
