＜ English Translation＞
Other people leave coffers of gold and caskets of jewels for their offspring, but what 1 have for my children is this Three-Character- Scripture. I believe it will guide them in their search for knowledge and on their path to become decent men. Diligence will reward one with great achievements, whereas idling around all day long can only lead to a gloomy future. One should bear this in mind and encourage oneself to become a useful person.

别人留给子孙的是满箱的财宝，我却将《三字经》留于后世子孙，用来教导子孙好好读书，明白做人处事的道理。只要肯勤奋用功，一定会有成果。而只着食玩，不肯上进，是没有益处的。所以我们要时常警惕，好好努力，做一个有用的人。
