Today I want to focus on the practise of letting go.
We live in a constant stream of change where nothing ever remains how it is right now. Our bodies change, our mind picks up new preferences, our friends and family gradually become new people, our ice cream melts away in the sun that is soon replaced by rain and wind and then sun again. We know this to be true, and yet we cling to the things as if we could keep them forever. We erupt in emotional chaos when our vacation plans are changed and we never stop thinking of “the thing he said that he shouldn’t have”.
But, there is a different option available. Realise that what you are holding on to is not part of you. Enjoy it while it’s here and when it moves away, like you know it will eventually, you let it go willingly.
