This is the download from Sounds Profitable, your daily source for the essential news in the business of podcasting, brought to you by Spreaker from iHeart. I'm Gavin Gaddis. Here's what you need to know for today, Monday, November 25th. A quick heads up before we get started, a reminder, this week is Thanksgiving in the United States, and as such, there will be two episodes of the Download Daily, tomorrow and today.
and there will be no recap or Wednesday newsletter. So we'll see you next week. Until then, let's get started. First up, Australian podcasting continues growth. This one has multiple sources. First up, IAB Australia has published their internet advertising revenue report prepared by PwC Australia. Podcasting stands out as the fastest growing ad format in the country, up 26.5% year over year for the quarter.
Meanwhile, Southern Cross Osterio reports their audio business is their main focus as a broadcaster while in conversation with multiple parties to sell SCA's TV assets. Their Q3 revenue report says the company saw a 1.5% ad revenue increase in quarter three, with digital audio delivering the most in an otherwise short advertising market. Next up, Evergreen Podcast acquires Rhapsody Voices in Deal to form bold...
new media venture. The new acquisition will bring together the teams of Evergreen Podcasts and Rhapsody Ventures, a company founded last year by industry veteran Mike Jensen. As part of the acquisition, Jensen will become chief business officer of Evergreen Podcasts. We expect to see more mergers and acquisitions in a similar style to this pop-up in podcasting, with collaboration continuing to be a driving force of the industry's success.
And finally, less brand safety, more SEO spend in 2025, Forrester predicts. A new report from Forrester forecasts that in 2025, brand safety concerns will take a backseat to brand smart strategies. Changes predicted to be popular trends include keyword exclusion lists being finally retired in favor of whitelisting publishers to include in campaigns, based off a survey of CMOs which found 53% of US B2C marketing execs
are becoming less prudish about brand safety. As for the rest of the news, Ashley Carman at Bloomberg shares how interview podcasts are switching things up, and New York Magazine has an article covering the broad history of video podcasting. Be sure to check out the links to every article mentioned right in your podcast listening app or at soundsprofitable.com where you can also subscribe to the newsletter version.
