Welcome to the Sounders FC pre Maat Show presented by Provident Swedish. Tonight, from the Emerald Queen Casino Pitch at Lumenfield, your Seattle Sounders FC face the Colorado Rapids. The Provident Swedish Premat Show starts now good afternoon from the sunny and beautiful Lumen Field, where your Seattle Sounders underneath these blue sunny skies will

be playing the Colorado Rapids. And after a rainhout kept the team from securing their first win of the season in Philadelphia last week, they've come back home where they will face the visitors from Commerce City, Colorado. So welcome to the Sounders FC pre Match Show presented by Providence Swedish, official healthcare partner of Seattle Sounders FCEE. My name is Jackson Felts. I am alongside longtime Sounders defender current Ballard FC head coach James Riley. James, what a beautiful day

it is here. These are the days that you just love playing as a player, where it's the high sixties, low seventies, perfect weather, slight breeze. What a day we have here at Luminfield, absolutely stunning. The bluest skies you've ever seen are in Seattle, so I'm sure the ecs will be singing that today. Absolutely well, we are a bit tight on time. Today we're gonna be leading you up to kickoff at twelve fifty five where

Danny Jackson and Steve Zachagani will have the call for Sounders and Rapids. So let's jump in and let's get to the delta starting eleven for the Seattle Sounders. Right now, Brian Schmizer lists this line up as a four to four to two. We think that there is gonna be some fluidity to it. Andrew Thomas is in goal step and fry out one more week. We think you're back four. It is the same group as usual. You will have new who at your left back spot, Alex Roldan your right back spot,

the center backs of Javier Ariaga and Jackson Reagan. Your midfield forsm will have Christian rolled On on the right, Leo Chiu on the left, Josh Atensio and Obed Vargas there in that pivot in the middle, and then ral Ruy Diaz and Jordan Morris are up top and James this is it's a strong line for Brian Schenzer in the sense of, you know, working with what's available. Albert rusnak is on the bench, Jamar Gomez and Rots on the bench.

They'll assumably get some minutes here as they work back from injury and for Yamar availability, but for what Brian Schenzer has available James today with this, with this eleven, it does seem strong and it's gonna be interesting to watch kind of how this four four two does move around and shift around and try

to create some attacking movement to find some goals here today. Certainly, I think, you know, coach Smetzer, what he did was he put like you said, his best lineup on the field, the guys that he knows and trust right now that are fully healthy right and is putting them in position to win games and to impact the game. So I think having Jordan Morris Ruydiez up top, any back line has to respect that. So that's a

threat. You have a vertical threat, and then you have a threat that Rudiaz can come in underneath and combine and then get the ball out wide for services into the box. So with that you know that firepower up top. By look for the sounders to unlock up some chances. I think that what they need to do start doing, obviously an easier said than done, is just taken advantage of those chances while on the defensive side, still being the

Star Wars defensive team that they are. And the chances is an interesting part of this because and we'll talk a little bit more about Colorado later, but just continue to kind of ease into the element of how this game may flow today. Colorado is head coached by Chris Armis. Armis spent a lot of time with the New York Red Bulls. He even spent time over in Europe.

We'll get to that later on, but in that time with the Red Bulls, he has certainly adopted this high press system and that means that they're going to play a high line. That means that they're going to have a lot of space in behind them. And when you have a Leo Chew, a Christian rolled on, a Jordan Morris, who have that speed, who have that quickness, that could create those chances you're talking about. Very true, and you know we tell our players. I tell my players all the

time, you don't always have to play through a high press. What you do is just play direct you play over a high press, play into the pockets, play play into the channels, and if not, you look, the midfielders really have to fight for second ball. So if you played direct and play over the press, can you also challenge for that first ball and then fight for knockdowns and then you can play from there, right and so

being very smart with how they you know, decide to play forward. But then there'll be times for the sounders to possess the ball and be patient, but they always have to be weary of the high press and how can they unlock that press is going to be critical, and that's why it's gonna be big for the two midfielders there in the middle, that double pivot of Josh Attencio and Obed Vargas. Two I wouldn't say young guys, but they're still

building up in the younger part of their careers. And as they play next to each other right now with the injuries out, you know, we need to see that consistency. We need to see the decision making of those two continue to build because they are going to be the two guys in the middle that do need to take charge and win those balls. And Ziggy used to say it all the time, and coach Smetsch used to say it all the time. Players build their own luck. So you build your own luck by

being prepared for your opportunity. What a better way for Atenco and for Obed to be like ready and I know they prepared. Guys are high on them. But to have your two you know, essentially you're starting midfielders out with job Paula and Russnak early in a season. Gives young guys an opportunity to really test themselves. So that's how players really create their own luck. Be

prepared for that opportunity. When that opportunity comes, you grab a hold of it and you don't let go. So this is a fantastic opportunity for those two young midfielders, you know, to showcase themselves in a very big game. Well, at some point today we do expect to see another midfielder join the Fray. That is Albert Russnak. He is off the injury reports and let's get to today's team health report Providence, Swedish team health reports, and

right I can tell you that it is no Albert Russnak. He is on the bench and available, but the players on the health report include read Baker Whiting he's still out with a hamstring, Pedro d la Vega out with the hamstring, Stephan Fry out with a hamstring, but Dila Rodriguez out with a hamstring, Joel Paulo is out with a hip and then Nathan He's not available, but that is not injury related. Today's team health report is presented by

Providence, Swedish official healthcare partner of Seattle Sounders FC. Well, we are just about fifteen minutes away from kickyard. Emerald Creene Casino, Bitch at Luminfield. Today's condat a kickoff is presented by Emerald Creaene Casino, the entertainment capital of the Northwest. We'll take a quick break, James and I'll come back

Let's dig into our Sharp Vision opponent Allo talking about these visiting rapids for just a couple of minutes, and once again Jackson Pholts and James Riley here for the providence we just pre match show. Danny Jackson Steve Zachawani will

have the call for Sounders Rappids in just about twelve minutes. But let's talk about these Rapids, James, because it's the team that finished very low in the Western Conference last year. They finished the bottom of the West, nine points below the next lowest team in the West. Terrible year in twenty twenty three. But they've made a lot of changes, bringing in Zach Stephen, goalkeeper from Man City. Mihailovich is a great player as well. Interm the

new head coaches Chris Armis. We talked about him the previous segment. Extensive experience with the New York Red Bulls, who also then was with Man United and leads as an assistant and interim head coach respectively. He has a big history, James. This is a team in Colorado that recognized at the end of last year we're in a really bad spot. We need to make a lot of changes. They made a lot of changes, and I mean they beat RSL two one last week. They look like a much improved team certainly.

I mean when you have a season like that, you go through kind of self reflection, organizational reflection, and then you make the changes necessary, and so kudos to them for being able to make those changes. They brought in Chris Armis, who not only has story career as a coach but also as a player. Right I also played against Sami. He's known as a very good player, captain level player, MLS Cup champion, So they bring

that pedigree. He's you know, you know, experience now. So he's looking to really promote his brand of soccer on this new Colorado Rapids team. James, I think a lot of people walking around listening, driving around in their cars. You know, if you may know a couple of these names. If you're a really intense soccer fan, you may know a lot of

these names. But even if you're just a casual soccer fan, even you're a casual sports fan, you've probably heard the name Zach Stephan United States men's national team goalkeeper for a long time before Matt Turner kind of took his spot there. But Zach Stefan leaves MLS, leaves Columbus, goes and doesn't work out so well with Manchester City over in the English Premier League. But this is a guy coming to Colorado who, as we saw last Week is still

a very very top goalkeeper without a doubt. And you know when we brought Casey Keller, hand to bring someone of national team caliber instantly gives that back line right confidence. And so a person, a player of his caliber who you know, grew his teeth here in the league, went over to Europe right, went through some trials and tribulations, but was still in the national team and now coming back kind of has that second resurg that second opportunity of

the career. You know, he's going to be motivated. You know the team's going to be motivated behind him. So he brings that anchor, that confidence. You know, when Casey Keller came, the confidence that he brought not only to the entire team organization, but that back line on a micro level was massive. And so that's what a lift a good goalkeeper can do.

Yeah, Zach seven brings such leadership and experience, and it's a Colorado team that, Yeah, they're very revamped and this will be a challenge for the Sounders today. This is not a team that was lace last place in the Western Conference last year. This is three points, easy win, beautiful day. Let's all have a good time at Lewin field. Now, this will be a challenging, challenging game today for the Rave Green. So today's opponent, ALEC was presented by Sharp Vision, Modern Lazck and Limbs, the

official Lasik provider of Sounders. FC James. Let's change from Colorado to Seattle and let's get to our players to watch today. Who are you looking at from Brian's four four two line up? Yeah, the four four two lineup. Me being a former outside back, I'm looking at new Who and Alex Roldan and gotta to give them love, but I haven't given them love in

the past, and they deserve all of it. To national team level caliber outside backs that bring a lot of fluidity to the game, getting up, attacking the channels, balancing the defense, winning their one v one duels, getting services in the box. So for me, looking for those two to be really really available to unlock opportunities in attacking third and then get good quality service when needed. But then they also have to do their defensive responsibility for

a high you know, high tacking Colorado Rapids team. Yeah, absolutely, So I'm going Rollridiez because I talked to in the first second about how this is gonna be fluid. It's a four four two, but it's fluid and roll. Rodiaz playing off of Jordan Morris. But we know, talking about head coach Brian Schmenzer, that Rodiz has a lot of freedom to roam around, and in roaming, I think there's points in this game where Raul will even kind of slip back and not even a false nine. You could see

Raoul playing almost a traditional number ten type role. And we know Rol is so good on the ball, We know he's an excellent player. We only he's very technical and if he gets into those kinds of spots, it has Chew to his left, Christian to his right, Morris in front of him. It's gonna be on rollriy Dz to find the right pass, find the right moment, or if you are in the final third, take the shot from thirty yards out, because we know Raoul can hit a shot from thirty

yards out like he can do it in his sleep. So I'm watching for a whole Raoul today to use the freedom that he's been given and have some fun with his position playing next to Jordan Morris. Peter hat Trip, Sounders legend, former MVP with the Sounders, is waving the born in nineteen seventy four flag. We are about to get going here at lumen Field,

but before we do, a couple quick things. First, Sounder fans down the the McDonald's app today and when the Sounders win, you'll win a free Nick Chicken the following day with minimum two dollar purchase exclusively in the app. Next, I'll tell you that the Sounders Rabbits history here in MLS action. There's been a total of thirty four games. Sounders own a very strong record against Colorado twenty two, eight and four, and they're currently riding a three

match winning streak against the Rabbits, out scoring them eight to two. Well, James Riley, before we get to kick off, what are your keys to this one here today? Keys to the match? For me to start fast, start strong? I know Colorado wants to high press. Can the Sounders also high press early on, set the tone, set the tempo, and then really the key to bypass the press when Colorado Rapids get settled and

they want to high press. How can you decide when to play through the press safety versus risk or bypass the press when knockdowns and then go from there. Would Colorado be smart? You know, obviously the Armists loves high press.

The lineup says they're going forward, But do you wait to do that until maybe the match gets settled down a little bit, because if the Sounders want to start on the front foot, if they want to start fast and Colorado high press is too quick, that could lead to a very early bad moment for Colorado. You think Chris Armis might give it a few minutes before showing that out. Certainly, you always first five to ten minutes of a

game, you want to battle for the right to play. What that means is play direct when knockdowns, win second balls, right, get shots, get services off fouls, whatever you need to do. So I look for the two teams to do that. But as they get settled and they maybe started a three quarter line and then look to press on trigger so it's not

just an all out onslaught. They'll have certain triggers that will you know, let them go press right initiate the press, and that's when the Sounders have to be very smart and either bypass it or play through it with link players if they can, and then create their opportunities in the middle third with good possession into the attacking third with good services because Morris, Morris and Ruidas are very good on service and that link play not only wherever that may begin,

whether it's the back line with you know, Jackson a hobby or if it is with Josh Nobed. But it then becomes the question of Rollery Das right, assuming he you know, the way he likes to play. He does like to slip back right. So it's that link play of Atensio and Vargas finding role and it's all about that connection today. And then where Raoul can find that final ball? Is it not absolutely? And we are you know, when Darrow is here. We used to say his touchcount needs to be

high to order to dictate the game. Ruy Diaz has the freedom now his touch his touchcount needs to be high, right, even if it's just back and forth like his touchdown, it brings him into the game. It makes him active, and we know what he can do when he's confident, when he's fit, when he's healthy in rhythm. We know what type of impact player he is, so look for him to on the ball in every instance. I look for his touchdown to be seventy five to one hundred touches escaping.

I love that well. It is a beautiful day, got seventy degrees and Sonny the boom boom clap with tens of thousands in the stands. What a day for soccer. We have as a Sounders walking out now in the green SOPs and the awkward shorts, Colorado red SOPs and they're red shorts. We have an exciting one. to Sounders fcsucker. Tonight from the Emerald Queen Casino Pitch at Luminfield, your Seattle Sounders FC face the Colorado Rapids. Sounders fcsucker is brought to you by Provident, Swedish official healthcare partner of Seattle Sounders FC. Now time for Sounders fcsucker. Good afternoon from a sun drenched EQC pitch at Luminfield, where your Sounders face the Colorado Rapids. You off season has been a very busy period for the Rapids, hiring new head coach Chris Armas and a bevy of top

talent including Zach Steffans Samboines and Jordi Mahailovich. After a four nil drubbing in the first half of the first game versus Portland, they have licked their wounds and found back well with a recent two to one win against Rocky Mountain Rivals RSL. That victory matched their away win total for both the twenty twenty two and twenty twenty three seasons. They come in today looking to double that tally. For the Sounders. They come off rain m again in Philadelphia last week.

After nearly six minutes of play, the game was suspended due to marsh like conditions on the field, with the ball barely bouncing or rolling, with nothing more to show than six thousand air miles. The Sounders are now ready to kickstart their season and entertain these home fans. Goals and a win is a simple message from Brian Schmidtz to today. My name is Danny Jackson and I'm joined by former Sounders winger and Steve zach Quarney for the call today.

So Steve, as the teams get lined up, let me get your quick thoughts. The Sounders need to find their groove. How do they do it today? I think it has to be a fast start, Danny. I think if you're on the Sounders, you look at having Jonna More in the number nine position. What are he strengths getting in behind, running towards the opponent, not playing with his back to gold and so can you turn this

rapids defense early? Look for that and also try to get Leo Tune involved very early on as those who were two of the key guys in the attack last season. Trevor Wiser puts the whistle to his mouth and gets this game going. Sounders attacking the goal to our right the south end, Kit it out in their anniversary kit again today green shirts with blue pinstripes, light blue shorts and white socks. And the Rapids in their traditional colors in their one

flag kit this season burgundy shirts, shorts and socks. So as the teams get set, we gotta have a couple of questions about lineup for Colorado Rapids and offensive Minded eleven, we'll see how they set up. As Jackson Reagan gets bundled over by Mahailovich, let's get you that delta. Starting eleven for your sounders, Andrew Thomas retains his positioning goal about four of Alex Roldan Reagan

Oriyagan who at ten zero alongside Vargas in the middle. The Christian rolled down raw ruy Ds and then Leo Chu and the attacking three and then Jordan Morris up front. Spare gets not long by Jackson Reagan pouncing well challenged by Ruy Diaz as NW who picks it up far side the left, plays into Leo cho Gond have been a time and space as he whips it in towards Jordan Morris just evades it and rolls over the end line for a goal kick for

the Rapids. So let's get you the rapid starting eleven Zach Stephan News signing for Man City in the offseason, comes in goal, a back four Rosenberry, Bombito Maxu and Fines at midfield, four of Loraz in the holding position. We believe Mahilovitch will play in the ten and then flanked by Bassett and Fernandez both on the left and right, and then Darren Yappi alongside Navajo up

front. So see if you can't ask for better conditions than this full house, perfect day for the sound It's about execution that final third, yeah is I think you know the season hasn't gone off to the best start, and then you know the game last weekend, getting to play five minutes and not really able to to get a full game there. So you're back home. The fans are in great singing voice. The weather here today and Settle was

absolutely stunning. I mean for the Sounders, you're at home. It's a team that you beat, you scored four against last season, and yes maybe they're slightly improved, but when you play here at Lumenfield and the Sounders always expect to win. I think a few guys on the Sounders are due for a big game. Ariaga plays it, gives it away cheaply top of the boxes. Loraz young player, making his fourth start, matching his season total

for his career four games out of four for the young man. Fernandez offseason signing for Chris Armas had some time together in New York. Ball gets shifted from center to the far side the right with Rosenberry knocks her down the line. Has knew who's going to chase it down. Get his body between player and ball and see if it rolls out. It's kind of stopping right on the far side, about three yards from the corner flag. Surean knew who's gonna try and do. He flicks it between his legs, picked up my

Hilo bitch good challenge by Vargas, plays it into a tensio. Sounders are able to get out pressure well. Referees lend the advantage chap and Nope puts the ball in the Deck's gonna be a free kick for the Sounders and as

they work their way across from center to this near side the right. Bren schmetz Ha talked to our meeting Steve, it's really about trying to find that group, get Jordan Morris involved, how do you get Rau Ruy Diaz in that pocket between midfield and offense so we know that he could strike from distance. I've given the chance. Yes, it'll be a learning craft for sure, because Raoul has always been picking up his top of the box of Navarro

finds Fernandez loose on the touch, Jackson Reagan picks it up. Crowd applauding as they step it up. Given away by the Sounders. A little bit stop starts so far in these first few minutes, as Christian Valdan bundles down Cole Bassett in the middle of the field and the rapp is gonna get this going quickly. Chris Armer's playing this high energy style play as he fasted in the Red Bulls goes down. Is my high Levich. Nothing given by the

referee, just a clash of bodies. There's gonna be Alex Roldan's gonna launch it along with that bleach blonde hair headed player by Bombito. Loose ball picked up by Christian roll down. It's near side the right, just in front of the bench for the Rapids to see. Go get back to you Fresch

Betz's words and then yes with Rawld and Jordan. It's gonna be a learning curve because Raoul's used to be in the high point pay between the two center backs, and you're now sort of asking him to drop a little bit underneath Jordan. Let Jordan be the high guy. And so that's a bit of a change for raw Rudiaz who's used to playing so close to the gold and that's been pulled away a little bit. But I don't expect to see them being statues. They're gonna be very very fluid, with Jordan Morris not only

staying central, pulling out to the left or right. It sounds like at their very best when attacking, Corps is very very fluid interchanging and I expect to see a lot of that this afternoon. But Rudias definitely in a slightly new role for him. Rose the very fast side cuts it in towards Cole Bassett. He's got the game winner at RSL last week, big win for

Chris Armas's side, first win for his new coaching tenure. Steps into Oreaga play as well came in is that LAFC for the final twenty minutes also played really well. Has now retained his spot alongside Jackson Reagan in the back. Four good shining light for Brian Schmitzer coming into this game is Yamas on the

bench. Got a full week of practice, as is Albert Ruzneck. They're picking up an injury just a day before that opening game in La in practice, taking him out for a good number of weeks, but he had a full week of training and he's also on the bench. And Steve. We're already seeing Colorado Rapids that high energy. They've got some young players in so they spent a lot of money in the off season. The fans demanded it.

There was you know, somewhat protest by the Sounders, I mean by the Colorado Rapids fans last year in terms of how the club was being run and how the investment was happening. Well, they've really doubled down. They brought the stephenso the world Mahailovich vines coming back in from Europe as well. Can you look for the Rapids. Yeah. And one thing can see for sure, Danny right away is that Chris has a very clear idea for what

he wants to do. Of course, he will take time and a new qualtily sometime, but it's gonna be high energy, high pressing and also a high line, which, speaking to branch S metzaw I was down in the pitch during the warm up. He likes that that gives him space in behind to execute and exploit the place of Jordan Morris and Leo True on the left hand side and even forsher Dun who makes very good runs from deep. So if the Rappers are gonna play a high line, it does play into one

of the sound as biggest strengths. So we'll see how that unfolds early on well. As they say, the only way is up for the Colorado Rapids last place in twenty twenty three in the Western Conference twenty seven points, AMIGA twenty seven points and a five wins on the season, seventeen losses. One of those wins was away. As we talked to Brian Schmtze also matched their twenty twenty two record with one away win. They've already matched this season with

that win last week against RSL. The Sounds having fast side the left is gonna be a throw in for the Sounders. As new who just trots up, you got to pick it up and spoken about Leo two getting more involved, it's a bit stopped start. He had a breakout year last year, Steve, I'm gonna see some more consistency from my life winger. Yeah, but even in that breakout year, he played in blocks and in moments. You know, you had three or four good games, then it'd be three

or four games that were not so good. And at this stage the way MLS is the very top teams, your key attacking guys, they're good water time one or two off nights throughout the season, but in general they're giving you consistent performances. And that's a challenge for Leo two and Jordan Morris. For those two guys, especially who you combined so well last season, is can you be good all the time? You know, there's some names of

players around the league we could name. We know what we're getting week in week out with Leo two right now, it's a bit up and down, and so that's his evolution. You've got to find a way to impact the game in different ways every single week in week out. Well. Alex troll Don as well, challenged by Brian Schmitz to do a little bit more with from a leadership standpoint of course, we mentioned it last week almost he's got

his hundredth game last week. Unfortunately for the Sounders, they played six minutes, got suspended due to that monsoon reign that we saw in Philadelphia. Baor couldn't even travel on the ground more than a yard. There's gonna be one hundredth game for Alex Roldan today. As Zoom runs down the left Town's side, good powerful run by the Sounders left back, gets held up by Yappi comes back to Vargas so ruy Diazo's playing a little deeper, of course we

mentioned, and may enjoy that free roll just in behind Jordan Morris. He goes to this near side, the right, eighteen yards from the end line. As Alex Roldan comes inside, just wait, a little combination bounced off Fernandez. Good powerful challenged by Atensio has been really good so far in these opening games of the season. Just tumbles into Fernandez in front of the assistant

a referee on this near side. It's gonna be a free kick for the Rapids as we get here in the ninth minute, Sounders nil, Colorado nil at Lumen Field on nine point fifty kjr. A. Wherever you're listening to us, if it's at home, it's on Apple TV and you've synced up the audio for our radio broadcast on the TV or if you're in the car, we appreciate you joining us Sounders looking for their first win of the season after a loss in la and the opening game and then a Neil Nol tie

against Austin in their first home game just a couple of weeks ago. Good look turn by rolled arm middle of the park finds Ruy Diaz able to drive forward into rapids territory left hand side, Leo True coming off that outside, coming inside, little combination with Jordan Morris outside the fut and goes a penalty. It was Rudy deer to the outside of his foot and I think it

was Rosenberry. Couldn't get that arm out of the way, and it's gonna make a penalty for the Sounders. And it's really really good football from the Seattle Sounders playing from right to left as we're watching here. Christian Dan was involved, as was Rudiaz. When it got to Leo Chu paid a lovely little given goal and the boy found Raldiaz on the edge of the box. You've tried a little cross with it outside of his right foot, and I think that's as clear of a handball. You know, the handball rule in

recent years has been tough to interpret. There was no question about this one. Is enough distance between rosenbrin Rowld and yes, arms out away from the body, No question whatsoever, no debate, not only for vir m Ludias with a chance topen his account for the twenty twenty four season, and it says chance to match the total goals for the Sounders of Freddy Montero. We've been waiting for this for a while. Railroy Dz sitting on seventy eight goals

in his Sounders' career, Freddy Montero and seventy nine. As he puts the ball down, everyone in that south stand on their feet, takes one step back, just resets himself. Is he gonna open up his account? Is he gonna match Freddy Montero? Moves forward and a planka And it was beautifully done by Ruy Diaz to put the Sounders up and to launch the total of Freddy Montero at seventy nine goals in his Sounders career. It's Ruy Diaz and the Sounders it's one nil. Well, talk about confidence. This is a

man who's been in and out of the lineup. There's been questions about it's still at the same level that he was at. But one thing Raoul will never ever like is confidence in himself and to face a goalkie potut Zach Stefan and simply chip the board down the middle, cool as you like, wonderful, wonderful audacity from the Peruvian and the Sounders take a much needed one new lead. Well, that will get the fans going. We've talked about entertainment

for these home fans. It's not been pretty over the last number of games at home. Three wins in the last thirteen regular season home games. But the Sounders are gonna pick right back off where they started last year in the opening game against the Rapids where they hammered the team in Burgundy four nil. And the Sounders now after a really fast start, as the board goes to

the left foot of Leo Chu just picking his time inside the box. They'll step over to Lorats towards the end like cuts back support by Vargas and now

Ruy Diaz back to Ariaga. Colorado now just backing up having to defend this goal, goes into Alex Roldan two yards away from the end, like comes back to his brother Christian to our Tensio back to Alex is gonna whip it in just towards the peak spot cleared up by Bombito, up in the air, undercut by Navajo, and that's gonna be a free kick for the Sounders in a dangerous position twenty five yards or so from Gold, just right of

center and Steve. This is exactly what Brian Schmidtz would have asked his team in the locker room coming out. Get off to a fast start, play on the front foot. Can't ask for better conditions. Entertain this crowd. Absolutely, you want to go off to a fast start. If you can get a goal while you're on top, you definitely make that happen to the sound as I've done that. This next five minutes is very important. Now,

if you're the Sounders, can you kick on? Can you really really put this Rapids team under a lot of pressure, because in this young season so far, they've been a resilient team. They've got a couple of decent results, and so this game is far from over bore down the right hand side, quickly taken, driven in just inside the ship's yard, but too close to Stephan as he picks it up, decktawling all yellow, fluorescent yellow. Can't miss Zach Stephan. And then the rapids goal as he rolls it

out. It's gonna be yappy, just comes inside the stop. Start season last year did yappy. Lots of expected of him as he played with national team counts in the preseason. Gets his chance today. Harris, who scored a goal against a lone goal against Portland, sits on the bench. Ball goes the far side the right, finds that man yappy. Leo Chuo doing his defensive duties, comes back. Loose ball by yappy boll picked up by their sounders. Here they go driving forward. It's gonna be Leo Chew.

In transition, Jordan Morris making a running behind. He strives forward as Leo Chue just gets the ball stuck under his feet. It's gonna be Cole Bassett who's gonna come away with it. Disappointing for the sounders on the break sleeve. Yeah, it's gotta be a little bit better there from Leo Cheue because initially had he put his head up early, Ruth yeas was an acres of space could have played him. Missed that one. Didn't have Jordan Morris,

and then Andy found Neva and the attack came to nothing. But it shows you the Sounders. We'll have chances also to get out in transition and with a pace off and Jordan Morris that's a web persition util has today a lot ball down the right hand, so whipped it along the six yard boss clear by jack suakeing forwards at the Mahalevich strike blocked by the Sounders and it's new

who getting just look loose on the ball. He was his giveaway early when he had chance to go back to the goalkeeper, gave it away and give the chance to the Rapids to make a strike on goal. But sounded defending strong so far top of the box of Loraz to side steps Jackson and Reagan force to the ground. Nothing given by the referee. We'll play by roll Don. He's Jordan Morris in transition. Can you use his speed against fines

We'll play by the young left back. The sound has come up in numbers now with a tensio just tucked in from that right channel goes back to Jackson. Reagan sounds feeling good, looking good so far dominating possession with fifty nine

percent possession so far, and you do certainly expect that. See how those expected goals ticks up as the Sounders lead here at Loomin Field one gold to nil off the back of a Ruy Diaz penalty, a penenka and if you can get a chance to see if you haven't seen it, it was his seventy ninth goal for the Sounders, which at Freddy monterra goodlow combination with roll down towards the end line website along the six help by Stephen and the Colorado

goal, but well played again by the Sounders on that right hand side. Yeah, and listen, the bar hasn't been very high, but this is easily the best we've seen the Sounders so far this season. It's incisive, it's lots of given goals. No one's doing too much. It's one touch, two touch. I think the balance that Raoul is finding is actually really really good. Wasn't shot about role paint not at number ten more than a nine and a half where he'll sometimes join Jordan's line, he'll dropping in behind.

He seems to be doing it very very well. And we'll see Alex Rodan as involved in the attack and third as we've seen this season and the two young guys in the midfield so far, attention to one. Vargas definitely winning that battle too, as we saw in LAFC. Lots of energy in that center of the part for the Sounders. Balls on the right hands, Site's whipped in, its headed clear by Arega, just kind of heads it into the ground, picked up by Cole Bassett, leading goal scorer last year

with six goals, Yes, six goals goal scorer for Colorado. Baul comes back. Rapp is now just getting a bit of momentum in the attacking half of the field. Sound is just sitting in, just taking a breath. Jordan Morris we've seen him play a bit more of an active role on the defensive side of the field in that number nine position. Brian Schmittz has mentioned

it in our conversations over the first few weeks of the season. Sounders able to riggle free as roll down goes back to Alex to Jackson, Andrew Thomas confidently played by the young man in gold. Heard Steph and Fries being back in practice this week. See if he gets back in that eleven. But Andrew Thomas has done himself no harm at all Steve in terms of his position. Yes, it was quite against Austin, but you look comfortable when he

did have the ball. Yes, hees and brash mess and a coaching stuff. I've spoken about the confidence of having him. Listen, Stephen fry'es irreplaceable. He's been at the top of his game for over a decade. At this point, you know he's gonna go down in a sound of history books. But it's assuring to know that if he's not available, we have another safe pair of hands waiting in reserve, and Andrew Thomas has certainly been there

all. On this near side the right eh and yards from the end line is Alex rolland cuts in on his left foot top corner of the box, curls a Ina Suldy fumbled by Zach Stefan but then claimed on the second attempt. Good confident play again by the Sounders and Alex Roll doan. Yeah, it's the best Alex rodnnas looks because yes he's a right back, but he gives the team so much in that attacking final third, and the more he can get up into the attack it then allows Christian Roll down to roam because

Priscian is not a wide player in a traditional sense. He has to go and find the game. He's got to get into the midfield. He's got to be up and down and you want to make sure you still have a presence on his right hand side. And in the early reasord of the season we were not seeing Alex Rodan in those positions, getting crosses, getting shots in and he's been probably the Sounder's most involved playing the final third so far and its right hand side has been a good hunting ground so far for the

Sounders. Of course, the change up last year allowing Alex Royd Donnan play higher, but here is potential driving forward. Good recovery to by Cole Bassett playing more defensive role today with Connor Ronan, the eleven assists man from twenty to twenty three picking up and knee injury against RSL, he'll be out for two to three months. They didn't replace him with another defensive midfield player.

They're playing more offense and playing on the front foot under Chris Armas. As we mentioned, shot to the system that first half in the first game against Portland, going down four goals to nil at a half time been an interesting conversation in the locker room. But they came out, they got their goal, they didn't give anything else away. They came into the second game at home and it wasn't until a ninety second minute penalty we had tied at one

to one, so they could have got three points there. And then of course you mentioned RSL win their first game win at RSL for four years in that Rocky Mountain Cup matchup. S ball got to MAXI to this near sight to Sam Vines who coming into the offseason as well. It's Mahailovich Fine's coming

in from Alkmar. Greg Berholt has mentioned that if players are going to be involved at the national team level, whether it's Copra America or obviously the impending twenty twenty six World Cup, they need to play minutes and games for their club team. We started to see some of these players finding positions to do That ball goes into Jordan Morris isn't able to give it to a Christian, Roldan Fines picks it up deep on their left hand side for Colorado knocks it

down the line. Will one be one challenged by Ariaga shrugs Navajoa side. Easy call for the referee who's ten yards away free kick for the Rapids. As we sit here in the twenty first minute, Sounders warn Colorado nill off a penalty goal from Ruy Diaz. For the Sounders, it's about picking up their first winner of the season. They were ranked number one coming into the year in the Western Conference. High expectation has been a slow start to some

extent. The sound is back at it today on the far side the right with Loratz plays it down the line well read by new who just drives past loaz Ball's gotta hold up in this new turf that was laid in the off season. Shrug down, knew who goes to the decks gonna be a free

kick for the Sounders. The Sounders FC Socker is presented by Provident, Swedish official healthcare partner of Sounders FC. Sounders having lots of joy against Colorado over the years, thirty seven games total, boasting regular season and playoffs with twenty five wins. That's the most any single club that they've played in two thousand

and nine. The Sounders have it throwing this near side the right, just a couple of yards from Chris Armas as he's tried to organize his eleven trying to get Yappy more involved, and he a few touches by Yappy little loose on the ball by Alex rolled On. We saw that against Austin somewhat as well. He seems to sharpen up that side of his game in these early

weeks of the season. He's normally so good and efficient with the ball at his feet, but the Sounders do have it with Rudy has plenty of time and space and the far left channel to go to drive it forward to this near side. A little slashing run by Christian Rolldan goes all the way through to zax step and remains one of these Sounders. And one thing the Sounders are doing very well as well is without the board, anytime the ball is

lost, they're not allowing the Rappers to get out in transition. A Riagay and Jackson Reagan I've both been very aggressive in stepping into the midfield to win boards, get in front of their man, and the rappers cannot shrink three or foot parts together. And if you're just defending, defending as a little loose on the ball, Oriaga tries to great Navajo just clips it around Oriaga

and managed to stay on his feet thankfully for the Sounders. There's been a couple of cheap giveaways so far in the defensive third of the field for the Sounders. This time it's Colorado. Do pick it up with Bassett comes to this nearside the left with Vines twenty yards from the end line twice play a combination with Navajo, got some time and space goes to Loraz twenty five yards from gold twice to find Fine just made a slasher run top of the box

asking for a handball. Nothing given as attention knocks it down the line to a Christian rolled on striding forward while played by bomb Beato knocks the ball back to Zack Stephan outside his box. Left foot clears his lines picked up by Attenure. Good header picked up by Ruy Diaz ball bouncers in the Sounders favor this time of the feat of Leo Chu comes inside the box, falls over

the grounds of the peltry. Nothing given block shot by Morris. It's gonna be Maxo with his left and is just gonna knock it long, picked up by the Sounders. Good sustained pressure by the Sounders. Yeah, and that's exactly another example there than anywhere the Sounds attack. Rapids defend it okay, but they're not able to sustain possession. The Sounders getting board right back. And at the moment it's wave after wave. The fans are feeding it and

the here for the Sounders to make this count. You want to find that second goal because the Rapper is what they have shown in this young season, very resilient team and if given a chance you let them stick around, they know how to find a goal or too. And so for the Sounders, when you're on top and you're this dominant, you want to make it pay. It's very tough to sustain this for ninety minutes, and so at some point the game will slow down, the Rapids will have a moment. You

want to make sure you have a good cushion when that moment comes. Well, the question was asked in the week leading up to today's game, the sound is going to be a little russif not playing really for two weeks. Lots of travel of course to Philadelphia there and back. But so far they

look sharp, they look like fresh coming out of the gates. And I think for the Sounders, as you mentioned, Steve, it's it's not about possession, which they're dominating it's not about absorbing pressure in the attacking half of the fields. About the chances on goals so far only two shots on Zach Stephan. Yeah, and that you want to make this dominance and this kind of control of the game a bit more. Show up on a statue and the rapper is having a very hard time picking up Rudiaz. I mean he's

popping up all over the pitch, left right, in the hole. Sometimes he's in line with Jordan, in between the center backs, and Raoul's finding a very very good balance. It's probably the most touches I've ever seen him having. The first off. Who is rou Rudiaz? Normally we used to seeing him being the guy at the end of the move. Right now,

his playmaking orchestrating a lot of things. Who tries to play the ball and doesn't miss the first guy that's bom Beacho, who clears his lines, picked up by attention, plays the ball down the line again to new can he find the ball again? This time he goes short into the feet of Christian roll darn ball top of the box with Rudy has good quick turn to Leo

Chu towards his favorite left foot. That's Christian roll done down the left hand side of new Who across the box over the top corner kick Sounders, but I'm surprised to the then just hit this Rudiaz yet again involved he lays off to Leo Chu on the edge of the box on his left foot. It's one of those you can just try to bend into the far corner. He took a touch, and by the time he took a touch, of course, the Rappids defense collapsed on him. But in the end the sound is

still work a decent move. News attempt to cross turn behind for a corner kick and get pressure. At some point you just wonder how much can the Rapids take because it is wave after wave of attack Right now for the Seattle Sounders, it's gonna be Alex Roldan is gonna play short no pressure goes into Leo Chu, back to Alex Roldan. Top corner of the box floats towards the back post, heading clear by Navajo and again by the Rappers when they

pick it up. Now in transition, it was Navajo to Mihailovich and easy for new Who as he could quickly turn with the ball and get another attack going for the Sounder. Is this time with Alex Roldan back to knew Who just trying to skip clear, maybe needs to play the ball a litt quick. We're seeing that a couple of times. Steve I feel like part in hands sometimes for the Sounders maps around with it out there. It's what comes in a new Who package. Listen, a little too casual, a little

too confident. When it comes off, no problem. But the day you're picked, in that moment you last defender, it would not listen. It would really really upset branch Metal. So now Who. Yes, it's the way he plays. He's very casual. At times it looks like got away with one there. But if you're the sound as, you don't have to be taking those sorts of risks unnecessarily in the back line. Certainly as they try and find their first win. Let's not give the other team any chances

unnecessarily. The ball goes in good combination. We saw that in practice ball towards the end line, Alex Roldan come miss the first guy, the foot of Maxo knocks it out of bounds, goes into a tensio to push your Roldan drives it from this near side the right to the middle of the field to new plays the ball into as he strikes the ball just over the top, but like a fingertips saved by Stephan but nothing given by the referee.

Gold Kit remains sound as one Colorado nil. He's been brilliant. Ill admit I had my reservations about this new role role because I'm so used to seeing him being the nine, one of the best number nine we've seen in league history, and he's playing this sort of new hybrid role where he's allowed to drop in into a lot of spaces that Nikoladero left and the Sounders haven't had

that without Nikoladero in times past, whenever he's been out by Raoul. Definitely showing that you can find those pockets and the Rappers are having a very hard time picking him up and catching wind of where he's going. And so far at least, Rudiaz has been probably the most influential player on the pitch and coming very very close to dubbing his goal tally and the Sounders lead with that

last attempt. Well. This copyrighted audio casts of Major League Soccer may not be retransmitted, reproduced, or rebroadcast without the express written consent of Major League

Soccer to get here. In the twenty ninth minute, sun drenched looming field, Sounders playing on the front foot leading one golden nil against the Colorado Rapids after a cheeky panenka penalty by Ruy Dis showed all the confidence that you expect from a established Sounders number nine all goes over the top, headed cleared by Bombito, recently called up to the Canadian national team as the young center back for the Rapids, to the far hoo. He gets his body between ball

and player Jackson. Reagan pulls him to the ground. The Rapids get the game going. After that free kick, Sam vines foot ball at his foot to cold Bassett'll drop of the show that comes inside, finds the foot up, bombs a Sounders playing a little higher press with Morris and Rude. He has ball, goes back to stephand Boris following it up and confident build out by the Rapids. Steve, we talked about the Sounders execution and the final

third. They're getting chances on the outside, it's just that final delivery in evading that goalkeeper of the first man. Yeah, and that's why I'm stopping sure saying it's complete domination. Yes, the in control, definitely in charge and have been the better team and definitely in the ascendency, but without the attempts a goal to really back up. Zack Stephan hasn't been extremely busy.

Been a few crosses there that the Rappers I've dealt with somewhat relatively comfortably, and outside of the Rudia shot from distance, there hasn't been too much for the Rappers to defend. So for the sound is this possession, this amount of passes, this dominance, you have to find ways to translate that into more goal dangerous scoring opportunities. Well, March is Women's History Month. Support

women owned small businesses during the month of March. For a chance to win Sounders FC prizes, visit intentionless dot com to find a business near you. Give away by the Sounders. Good say by Andrew Thomas in the end, but it's sloppy again for the Sounders. Brian Schmittzer remaining seated on the bench.

But you could just imagine that pen tapping on his leg unnecessary again by the Sounders, that the ball goes on holds up in this new turf ball goes back to Zach Stephan in the Colorado goal does nothing but launches itlong, finds the foot of the Happy, but it bounces over the wrap its forward. The Sounders pick it up again. Yeah, and that's where you have to just when you're this much in control, especially as defenders, but you're not having too much to do, you must stay locked in and just a

few times now. This sound is a little bit slow beat and casual in the final line. On that occasion, naval shot didn't really trouble Andrew Thomas, but the sound is given the rapids incentive when they don't need to fall fast side the left ten yards from the end line is Leo Chu just drops the shoulder, comes towards the far post. Alex Roldan comes off the back

of Sam Vines. It's going to be a corner kick for the Sounders as they lead here one goal to nil in a very important game for the Sounders. Windless so far this season, early so so far, of course, two games played, one loss, one tie for the Sounders. It's all about making their home a fortress again, as they have this corner on this near side. The right outswinger by Alex Roldan, arm goes up whipped in header just over the top. It was Ariaga well worked from the training field.

It was an outswinging cornerkick by Alex Roldan found the head of Ariaga just over the top. Remains Sounders one Colorado nil. Yeah, I just couldn't get over it enough for the Ariaga's a good board put Alex ro don and Arioga makes a good run, loses his marker just could not quite get over

the head and it never really troubles that Stefan. But the Sounders continue to ask the question to say in the rapids, I'm gonna have to find an answer at some point because the way he's looking right now, that second goal is looking inevitable. At some point for the Sounders, it's about taking the

chances when you're on top. Can they find that second goal or giving away by Bombito top of the box with ruy Diaz, a little flick around the corner to Jordan Morris holding it up well finds the foot Alex Roldan down the line towards the end line to ruy Diaz, challenged by Cole Bassett. It's an example of what ruy Diaz is doing in this number ten role. Hold

hugs this near side the line as Christian Roldan comes in. Good combination again by the Sounders in their triangles, finds the foot of Ruy Diaz who whips it in clipped up in the air, deflected, finds his ball top of the box. Find Alex rolled down towards the end line, takes a touch. Fernandez challenges and goes towards the back post and clears. Everybody bounces all

the way to Yappie farst side the right. Good challenge by knw who and those are not Booze, that's new Who being wrung out from the Stanzas we looked down the stand up we're in the west and is starting to be baked in some level of sun shine. The lower half of the lower ball. Everybody with their hands over their eyes. But there's the Rapids in transition with the yapp He tries to find the ball lop top of the box. Fernandez

just wide. Quick break by the Rapids on the right hand side. It was deflected by Jackson Reagan into the stride and foot of Fernandez who just drags the ball wide. It's gonna be a goal kick for the Sounders. They lead one nil, but it's a let off for the men in green. This sounds got lucky, got very very lucky dead. If the Rapids well lit sharper a little bit more clinical, we're looking at a tie game here. That cross in the end should have find naval wide open. Didn't.

The little rebound thus far to Ferinande. He doesn't catch it too well, drags it wide of Andrew Thomas's post. There, but the Sounders have to asp But how did it get so wide open? The Rappers didn't have to work harder at Howard to create an opportunity. Rappids starting to get more involved in the game and taking the opportunity and given to them by the Sounders.

And here they come again. Sam Vines striding forward, comes inside in his left foot, clips it to Loraz, finds Cole Bassett this near side the left ten yards tucked in from this near sideline goes back to Fernandez, who had that chance of about fifteen yards out five seasons at the New York Red

Bulls. Some of that time was under the coaching of Chris Armas. It's a free agent in the off season, and Armis took the opportunity to be reconnected with his left sided midfield player ball driven from center to the down to the farst side, the left hook clear by now who but corner given away unnecessarily feels like news just felt a little sloppy in this first half. I think the whole back line, you know, Alex has been a couple of

sloppy giveaways. Jackson's made a little mistake there. No, maybe only our Riaga so far hasn't made that kind of little error. And the Sounders has said, but in control were dominant. But you cannot do that for nineteen minutes. At some point the other team will have a moment. It might not last long, but Rapids definitely having their best moment of the game right

now, and they're beginning to ask question of their own. To the Sounders corner kick there far side the right, it's gonna be an outswinger up there. My highlovitch comes in headed clear partly by the Sounders, but only over the end line for another corner kick for the Rapids. A little flurry of

chances on Andrew Thomas's gold in these last few minutes. You get here in the thirty sixth minute, Sounders just need to stand strong to hold their line, don't give away anything silly matching up bombto's free top of the box, tracked by attent Your ball goes in headed clear, up in the air, top of the box, clipped away by Ruy Diaz, well played by the Sounders number nine. As the ball comes in by Sam Vines, Andrew Thomas screams for it. It's heady clear, and here comes Jordan Morris. It's

got a bit of time and space. Ball holds up. Right hand side is Ruy Diaz, and it was Rosenberry who came back to clean things up. Took it off the toe of the Sounders attacker, and here come the Rapids again. In transition, Rosenberry has some time and space on this right hand side, tracked by Leo Chu who in support top of the box, but it goes back to Loraz and then Bassett Colorado enjoying a little possession in the attack in half of the field as they get settled more into this game.

As the Sounders had their period the first thirty minutes is dominated the Rapids in most facets of the game. Like all the way, teams just absorb the pressure now trying to find their foothole into this game. Is the ball goes short into Rosenberry foul given by Leo Chew on the halfway line. It's gonna be a free kick for the Rapids. But looking for a membership with ultimate flexibility. The Flex membership allows you to choose the regular season matches you

In the thirty eighth minute, lumen Field driven ball by the Rappids clashes off Laraz Sounders have it in transition with Christian Roll darn middle of the field, fights or tries to find Ruidiaz doesn't quite get through, cleared by Rosenberry, finds the chest of Navarre, who drops it off. Good play by Entensio

and the here's Christian Roll. Dan tries to squeeze the ball in between two Rapids players. Given away and here come the Rapids. In transition, good play by Jackson Reagan went down to deck early, blocked the ball down the line from Fernandez goes out for a throwing fan to appreciate the effort from Jackson Reagan. That shows his maturity. Maybe a year or so ago he would have gone down, maybe mistimed it, but he feels like he's in such great control of his game right now, Yeah, he is, and he's

now become an indispensable member of this team. For Branch Metsid the height that he has, Jackson Reagan very quick off across the ground than you think he is. And now the timing of his tackles I remember is in that era where he got a red card once against the Portland Timbers. And so show

you grow as you play more you grow. And he has now so many games under his belt and again tonight this afternoon, having again a very good game so far and also on the board Jackson Reagan because it sounds to have an OP possession up to sixty percent so far, so you'll center backs have to be good on the board here and he's definitely shown that side of it as well. Continue to improve well. Four assists on his season last year.

It's really his first full season in Sounders Colors can It was in the in the list of players for Defender of the Year. As the ball goes down the line. Of course, his compatriot Yama was in the final three, didn't get it in the end. As the ball goes down the line it's potential, has got some time and space, He's gonna whip it and

he does nice ball headed clear by Bob Beato top of the box. Alex rolled down, comes towards his left foot, plays it short to Fargas, little clip ball down to the left hand side towards the end line, and it's Leo two just stands at Roseberry. It comes on his right foot, drives it low week on the shot in the end down towards Zach Stephan's right easily collected by the Rapids goalkeeper. Remains one nil, but better again from

the Sounders. The Rappers had a little five six minute spell. It wasn't a crazy storm that came the sound as way, but the Sounder is again regaining control. You can see the team's back on top. And the one thing that might disappoint branch s Metzie if the halftime whistle balls in a few minutes here and it's only one nil, is that it's only one nil. You really probably should have found a second goal to really put some distance between

yourself and the Rappers when you've been that much better. But the game still hangs on a banish right now. Col Basset drives forward Fernanda's inside the box not one b one good defending by Alex roll darn Is able to steal the ball away, finds the foot of his brother Christian, who drops it back getting transition Rappids to look the interest thesa final ten minutes of this first half.

Sound is so far standing strong, holding that clean sheet. And of course it was Andrew Thomas's first home game as a starter against Oar City. Got his clean sheet in that nil nil draw. The Sounders. No, now, don't give anything way, silly, but you can hold this result. It's three points in the back and gets their season going, but a long way to go. As the ball goes from center to fast side the left true isn't able to grab it goes under his foot and out for a

Colorado Rapids throwing on the far side the right. As you mentioned, four assists on Jackson Reagan's season last year, but no goals. That's an area of his game. Have to speaking to him in the off season that he was add to his arsehole. Get a couple of goals from corner kicks. Sounders over two hundred corner kicks last year really didn't execute too well on them.

You got the height and size of Jackson Reagan certainly had the ammunition to do it, says outroll Down, plays it square alongside the box, Ruie Diaz inside of a bright inside, clips it off, findes he's gonna go out for a corner kick for the Sounders. Get here in the forty second minute, Sounders leading one goal to nil. Last ten minutes has been somewhat more even. But Brian Schmidz is gonna be happy so far as he sits

on the bench making some notes for his halftime team talk. Sounders with sixty two percent possession as you'd expect in the manner in which the Sounders have played at home, but possessions one thing is about putting the ball in the back and there as the ball goes in long and high to the far post,

on nudge in the back of Jackson Reagan. As the ball pops up, minds the feet of the Colorado Rapids center bout Bombito this time challenge from new Who clatters into Navajo on the far side the right, and it's gonna be what looks like the first yellow card of the game, and it's gonna be on new Who and that kind of trails the way that first half's gone so far from new who has looked uncomfortable at times with the ball at his feet.

Giving the ball away that time is just a misjudged challenge on the vajo in transition and somewhat that's the type of foul that Bran Schmetz will won. It stops that transition. That professional foul allows the Sounder to get back in position. But Discount Tire get thirty percent short average weight time when you buy and book online at discount tire dot com. Early game for the Sounders today

we saw one o'clock kickoff. Two game has already gone and finished. DC United going down three goals to one against into Miami, then Chicago Fire coming from behind at home to beat Montreal four goals to three. Full slate of games in MLS tonight. So Rapids have it farst side their right hand side, bubbling around, bouncing around, Oriaga challenge bassat a good little a skilled by Basst gets out of trouble. The Sounder is able to pick it up

well played by the Sounders in possession. Should have all done on that far side. The left found himself there on the run of play. We've seen that movement from Christian Roll, Dan just shifting from left to right, right to left, and in practice we've seen Brian schmidtz are wanting Christian to tuck inside a bit more, play a little more narrow. Allowed that space on the right hand side to be occupied by his brother Alex. It's gonna be

Fernandez on this near side. The left cuts inside finds Loaz young players getting his starts under Chris Armas's reign. Four starts out of four for the young man matches his total season starts in his career. Or get shifted from Maxu to the far side the right. We haven't seen too much of mahin Levitch. We've not seen too much Navaja. One shot really on goal, that was a transition. This Laz is gonna drive forward, Colorado getting a bit

of sustained pressure and the sounder's attacking third of the field. There's Lorez thirty yards from gold Ball goes to Bassett, back to Laraz, Sounders holding their line. Highest man forward. Here is Christian Roll done in this rotation of players. As Jordan Morris stays on the right hand side, sounds. We want to see these final minutes sound as we start to tick towards the forty

five minute marks in a good half so far for the Sounders. That came out of the box quick again, as we mentioned, it's not just about gold, it's about peppering the goal of Zach Stephan. Six shots on goal for the Sounders, three of those shots on targets, so whereas Osin it was a shot total of twenty three shots, but only two of those twenty three to one targets. So Sounders picking up their statistics and percentage in this game. Is ball has rolled out of the sideline far side the right four

Colorado rapids. As Roseenberry walks up, He's gonna pick up a ball. Sound is gonna have to defend this long thrown as Roseberry just leans against far advertising hoardings as he looks to get a run up. He's got three yards to play with. It takes a step back. Sounders eleven men in and around the eighteen yard box. Ball goes in towards the far posts, headed up in the air. Bite no just need and mind himself. His hand was in the back initially. As the ball comes in, floats to the

back post, evades. Everybody's gonna be picked up by the rapids of Mahailevitch comes back to Sam Fines on this left hand side Mahailevich. As we mentioned, quiet so far. Ball goes in, finds Bassett drives the ball across great block by New who he was yappy on the backstick, had a chance from seven yards, but it was New who recovered and blocked it out to prevent what looked like a certain Rapids goal. And it goes out the far

side for another throwing. It's gonna be another long one from Rosenberry towards that front post, headed clear by New, knocked back in by Fernandez, headed up and away by Jackson. Reagan says, a referees flag on the far side goes up and it's gonna be an offside for the Rapids. It's gonna be two minutes of stop edge. Already a minute thirty into it. This rolling clock that's been activated by MLS in all stadiums allows the fans in the

stadium to see how much time's going. Another fifteen seconds or so is Andrew Thomas is going to take his time from the goalkick actually just steps out as a off side to free kick about twelve yards from his goal. Sound to just step up to the halfway line. Try to see this one out. As Brian Schmitzer stands next to his assistant coach is ready to walk in.

And there's the final whistle for halftime from the referee. Goal by Ruy Diaz, his first goal on the year and his seventy ninth goal for the Sounders to match Freddie Montero, and that was in the eleventh minute from a panenka. We'll take a short break, Jackson Felt and James Riley will be back to break it all down halftime here at EQUC Pitch at Looming Field. It Sounders one Colorado nil. Roll Rudiez in the tenth minute, force the penalty, and then the eleventh minute he hit that is, by the way, his

seventy ninth goal for the Rave Green across all competitions. That ties him with Freddie Montero for the most goals in Seattle Sounders FC history. So Rol Rudiez at seventy nine right now with Montero and with that the Sounders leading one nothing. But James Riley, we said it in the pre match show that listen, this match could be very exciting. It could be back and forth.

We could see a lot of goals. It's one nothing, but it feels like this match could easily be three to three right now, hundred percent, very highly entertaining goal or a gay half with a lot of goal scoring opportunities from both teams. Very exciting. It's very exciting indeed, as we kind of rolled through the look of this how this match went. You know,

Raul having chances from distance after his goal. You had a bad giveaway leading to a big Colorado chance in the thirty first, Hobby with a header in the thirty second. The thirty fourth was another huge chance for Colorado. I mean, James, for a while there during this first half it was really back forth, back forth, back forth, with just big chances coming hay

makers, back and forth. It's amazing looking back that none of these chances for this ten minute period actually went in the back of the net exactly. I mean, you know, Colorado had their chances, Seattle had their chances.

We talked about it early that ruy Diaz needed to be involved in the game, needed to be aggressive, The team needed to you know, high press, really try to dictate the tempo, and that's what really leads to the penalty, right, being aggresive and trying to get services in the box, hard distinct runners and then obviously ruy Diaz very clinical on the penalty. I don't know if I have the confidence to do that, but I th

that's a guy with the like ice cold veins, definitely. I mean, for those who don't know Roll So basically what ral does on that penalty, it's called a pananka after a famous player. But Raul sees the goalkeeper leaning a certain way, so he just chips it right down the middle and as soft as it can be, right in the back of the net, right in the middle. Beautiful room, Raul. But exactly it took Cohenes to

actually do that. But you know, James overall, we talked in the pre match a lot about how Rollridz is gonna position himself the freedom and we are seeing him run a lot of different places. We're seeing a lot of fluidity. They called it a four to four two, but you saw a wild different formation kind of take shape. You see that Leo flips to the right side. We see, you know, a lot of different things happening to try to create some interesting movement here for the Sounders attack as we see

the part challenge and was just met by a young man. Go ahead, No, certainly. I mean, I think the interchange play, the ability for the players to try to create overloads is great. I think what you want to do is also not jeopardize the integrity of the back line and the defensive role. And I think that's what happens when you love this balld in certain situations and you're not set up, that's what can lead to opportunities going the other way. So I think a balance of the two, without a

doubt. You want the interchange play. You want players to look for overloads and be kind of very asymmetric right and unbalanced the team but then the opponent. But at the same time you want to be to make sure that you're good on the break, that you have a good framework in case you do turn the ball over, can you defend properly in a good shape? And they have been very good, Sounders leading one nothing, but it could easily be much more. Right now, a wild game so far here at Luminfield,

underneath the sunniest skuies you've ever seen. I'll tell you that Sonders FC Soccer was presented by Providence, Swedish official healthcare partner of Sounders FC. You're listening to the home of Sounders FC, Seattle's sports Radio nine fifty KJR. Welcome back to EQUC Pitch at Lumen Field where the Sounders lead one goal to

nil against the Colorado Rapids. It was a eleventh minute penalty by Ruy Diaz, the Panenka of all things, showed the confidence of the Sounders number nine. And it wasn't just his first goal in the season, the Sounders first goal in today's game. There's also his seventy to ninth goal all time for the Sounders. He ties up Freddy Montero. Let's see in the second half

if he can go ahead and surpass the Sounders legend in Montero. Ruy Diaz playing in that false nine, sitting right behind Jordan Morris, we've seen him have some joy in that those areas fine pockets of space. We've tested from distance as well. It's been really active in the Sounders really dominated all facets of the game in that first half, just about fifty seven percent possession against

the Rapids. But the Rappers did have a flurry of chances in that ten minute spell just after the half hour mark, and it was the Sounders who able to withstand that initial pressure and keep that score at one nil going to the half. So as the Sounders get lined up, let's get you that

starting lineup for the Sounders. No real changes for Bryan Schmetzer from a personnel standpoint to be Andrew Thomas and Gaul Alex Roldan, Reagan, Ariaga Nu in the back four, Josh Atensi alongside Obert Vargas in the middle, Chushian rolled on on the right, Ruy Diaz in the ten, Leo Chou on the left, and then Jordan Morris upfront as the number nine. The Sounders decked out in their anniversary kit green shirts with blue pin stripes, blue shorts and

white socks. They'll be attacking the goal to our left. As the referee against the game going the Rapids knock it back to Masu, Who's gonna launch it long down the far left hand side. Good challenge by Alex Roldan, Flicked around and forward by Fernandez, but hooked clear by the Sounders back line. As the ball bounces up, good loot cushion headed by intensior Sounders. Can they play on their front foot again? They started off so strong?

Of course, the question asked where the Sounder is gonna be a lot sluggish coming out of the gates after two weeks off, long trip to Philadelphia. The game, of course, suspended after six minutes due to a water logged field, absolute downpour. So we said he was less cats and dogs, more like rhinos and elephants. That rain was hammering down and within just a few minutes of the start of the game, the ball could hardly bounce and the referee called it. As the ball goes down the line. As Luke

just sees that ball is Leo Chwo down the end line. Goal kick given from o advantage point. Pretty simple to see that Bombito had knocked the ball off his toe went over the end line. Referee just could hold it up. Let's see if he's gonna call this one back. Yep, he calls it back, got a word in his ear. Var now is getting involved

in all aspects of the game. The referee gives a first corner kick to the Sounders in this second half as we wait for Steve zac Quani to make his way back up to the booth, he and Brad had a race of themselves. They had a facial feature of themselves in the west and the east stand and they had to move that face down length of the sideline. I

think it was actually Brad who eventually got that win. So it come the sound as in swinging corner kick bundled over is out Jackson Reagan, nothing given by the referee, ball bounce the top of the box, finance defense itself to Mihailovich. Wriggles free loose leg stuck out by Atensio. That's gonna be an early yellow card. Was a little harsh on the Sounders number eight.

As Mahailovich was in transition, just running away from the center of the field towards this near sideline, there was a stuck out leg by Atensio that just pulled down the new signing for the Rapids or you mentioned some big money signings in this offseason, Zach Stephan of course, the marquee names coming in from Man City, Mahailovich coming in from Alkamar Holland it was a six million by

twelve months ago, then a quiet for three minus. So Al Kamar decided to let ma Heilovich go after twelve months and they comes back into MLS after spending so many solid years at Montreal. As Andrew Thomas has it goalkick for the Sounders as he pushes the back line up, and let's get you the lineup for the Rappers as we look down, no real changes from Chris Armas's

group. Zack Stephani, goal back forth, Rosenberry, Bombito Masu and fines the midfield four of Mahailovitch, Lorez, Bassett and Fernandez, and then Navajo alongside yappy up front free kick for the Sounders. The ball goes quickly shifted from the far side the right to this near side the left, as Leo Chu chases it down just a couple of yards in from this near sideline, goes along square top of the box. It was ober Vargas who trying to

curl its left far post, goes high and wide. Goal kick Colorado, and we're gonna welcome back in Steve zach Quarney after being on the halftime show. Yes, a very tired Steve zac Quani. So I've not ran that much and so long I was involve something. Did you take the stairs up? I did? Yes, I took stairs, I walked and at one point on elevator and I'm still tight. So as what was and I lost the challenge. Brad Evans beat me. Well, ball goes down the line.

Comment on that later sound is habit. It's near side the left with Leo Chu guess to wriggles free of Bombito and it's this time it's a rapids player that bundles down a Sounders number nine. It's could be a free kick for the Sounders twenty five yards from the end line just chucked in on this left channel. Good opportunity for the sounder is to whip a good ball in.

It's been Rudy Diaz has been active in that first half. As we mentioned, maybe it's a new new position you lease of life for the Sounders number nine to play in that with Jordan Roll. Of course we have Albert Rusnak on the bench. Just after the sounder is gonna play this free kick we'll get you that bench. I'll tell you the options that Bryan Schmetzer has

available to him. It's gonna be Alex rolled on, two hands up in the air, in swing of his right foot towards the back post, easily collected by the experienced Zach Stefan. He looks to throw it out quickly. But let's get you that bench for the Sounders. As you mentioned in the first half, a couple of familiar faces back for the Sounders as Colorado just building out of the back little pressure from the Sounders, so Brian Schmetzer,

Albert Rusnak back on the bench after falling injured Paul Roper. We'll get to that bench in one second. As ober Vargas does pick it up twenty five yards from Gold, rolls it out to the far side, the right to Alex rolled on as he slows things down, comes back to Jackson, Reagan and Steve. This second half is gonna be more about using that attacking force that the Sounders had, that possession and actually trying to test that step.

Yeah, it will be. I think it's not. You want to get the same dominance, same level of control, but could we generate a few more chances not think the Sounders give themselves. Just as in the final third, the final pass was lacking, the cross might be a bit off, or maybe just the movement wasn't quite there. So very happy with the play two thirds in. Just in that final third if you really want to create

separation, because at one nail the game is still very balanced. The Rapids still need one chance to set piece a mistake and the right back into it to get out of reach. You got find a way to get a second goal. We'll see what Andy Rose has in store for us on this one. Sounders assistant coach typically controls these set pieces. Sounders over two hundred corner

kicks last year, but not particularly good on the execution. Ball goes short to the Leo Truths bounced off the shins of Yappy, so he knocks the balls. It's near sight, driven down the line, picked up by Alex Troll. Darn well, it's able to play to Christian turns. Top of the box goes in short, Jordan Morris back to gold just Wriggles Free drops it to Atensio to chew left hand side double team. Ball's gonna kick off Loraz Towards that end, line saved by Rosenberry just knocks it up long again.

Just Nue just takes it off his chest, just takes that extra second he was. He get the chance for Navarro to close the ball down, comes off the rapids number nine for a throw in. The Sounders get it going quickly Jackson Reegan farst side the right. As we mentioned, Brian Schwetz has some options on the on the bench, Rossneck, Roth Rock, Jonathan Bell, Mussovski, Yamar Jacob Castro as the goalkeeper, Cody Baker, Danny

Labor, and Dylan Tevez. So Again, for Sounders fan, seeing Rossneck involved in a game day roster for the first time this season is so put a smile on Brian Schmittz's face. His preseason was really built around playing in that number ten. After Ladero moving on to Orlando City, all goes into the chest of Jordan Morris, wrapped in there by RUI DS. Yeah.

I think Raoul probably was trying to play a longer past Alex Rodan mishit it and it found Jordan Morris, and that's a tough one for anyone to bring down. I will say the one thing that sounds in the first half could have done a bit more off and I know this was part of Branch messure just thinking for the game was finding the space in behind. Because Raoul dropping

deep it did create some good chances. They got the board wide, but we never really got Jordan Morris running in behind only or two and really turning those Rapids center backs running towards Zach Steffan towards their own goalkeeperup, because when

you do that kind of thing, mistates gonna happen. Confusion happened. So with the high line the Rapids play, you have to think at some point as the game drags on and you try and find that second goal for separation, the sound is not long board, but a bit more direct in terms of trying to force the Rapids to run towards their own goal and see what can happen. You mentioned that at the beginning of the first half, right, there's gonna be a high press. The sounds is gonna look for Jordan

Morris. Is that the message from Bryan sch Metz at the halftime bit more direct change things up? Yeah? I think so, because he knows that with Rout dropping in, they're gonna create chances. They found Alex Roll down in wide aras quite often. Same with Leo Chu. They had good control moving up the lines, but at times with Jordan there just dump it in behind to win second boards. Forced a Fenas to run towards the on goalkeeper and give Jordan a chance to really open up his legs and get and the

other things. Well, he asked Brian yesterday in the production meeting about Jordan Morris's level of involvement during the flow of the game. And now he's really struggled to kind of get a number of touches. I mean, today's game he's got fourteen touches compared to like a new who who typically stays home on the left hand side a little less. So today he's got sixty three touches so far in the game. But it's not about touches, about golds.

The ball goes in towards the far post, flicked away by Rosenberry. It's going to roll all the way and nothing's we are thrown for the Sounders, thrown quickly by Ruy Diaz, skipped by by Leo Chu, goes towards the top corner of the box, rolls the ball into Oberd Vargas can't get it rolls under his feet and finds the foot of Zach Stephan in the color goal. As we sit here at a sun drenched lumen field, picture perfect day for soccer. Sounders leading off a first half goal a Panenka penalty by Ruy

Diaz, they lead one goal to nil. Here as News steps in well right in front of the Colorado bench, drives forward. News got some time and space challenged by Bassett, but it goes to the top of the box twenty five yards from Gold, goes square from center to right to roll down, back to Ruy Diaz, back to Alex Rolldan. Sounders trying to find that opening, trying to test that Stefan and the Colorado goal. They continue to dominate possession, only seven shots on goals so far in this game.

Twenty three shots on goal against Austin were the all important goal. Is what the Sounders are found in that first half. The look to build on it is it shifts from Jackson ragging to this near sight to the Leo Chu little combination loose passed by Leo Chu. That's where it gets too narrow for me. Danny there when it comes to Leo chewing, you're the wide guy. You want to see him have a goal at Rosenberry at one point, put your head down and drive to keep coming inside him for a cute little one

two's. At some point the game gets a bit too tight and Leo two's on the pitch for what he gives you as a wide playoff. And not too often this after anyone. He's got the ball in a wide air in a one on one situation, you've got tick advanage and driving the defender. Defenders really hate a very direct winger, and I think it's a chance missed there for Leo Choo to really put his head down and drive are Goes in square. That's a little combination. Rappers have the top of the box in

the highle of it. She's gonna skip by the two foot hands in the back. We'll see if the referee takes a look that was. It's a little dangerous. By now, Rusy drives forward the ball. We'll do well just to get rid of it and get back in position with Leo Chu. See it's a referee. I'm just looking at the referee right now. It's not appear to be conversing with anybody right now. Fell by Navajo knew who it's a fell oh on Atensio and is that a red card? That second

yellow? It's a second yellow for Atensio. Oh wow, I missed it. I have no idea what's happened here? I feel like must have been off the ball played by Atensio. There's a lot of confusion, a lot of confusion on the sound is bench on the pitch. Atentials as confused as anyone to referee seem shot went straight to his pocket. Second yellow followed by

the red card. No idea what's happened here? I feel like Vargas was running back and I wonder if it's mistaken identity potential but no potential is wandering off. We'll see what the referee does here if it takes another listen to var but no, it looks like, oh that's a soft look like just a miss time challenge. As the Rappers tried to break forward and go and then came back to it. I think that's where a surprise comes in if no one thought too much of it. That's one of those ones where if

he calls it in the moment, maybe we can understand it. But wow, I've not seen many times where the games continue to flow forward to come back for a red card. Yeah, yeah, yeah, well sounders have to adjust. That changes the picture, put it substantially for the sounders. Now down a man with a red card on Josh at tencer for a second yellow, and we'll see how Bryan Schmittza now adjust. Is he gonna make a change earlier than expected? It's like Christian rolled Downe's gonna sit in that

middle area of the field. Two attacking players in Ruidiaz and Jordan Morris. One of those gonna be pulled off. Maybe a Roznak has a chance to come in and slot in the center of the Park's to be Fernande's gonna come on in his right foot. Now, the sounds are gonna have to be strong. As we're here in the fifty ninth minute, sounds still leading one goal to nil. Down a man ball comes into the box heading clear by

Jackson Reagan. It sounds they're gonna have to really roll up their sleeves sorb some expected pressure now from Colorado. All cleared and there's gonna be much of what the second half could look like. As they cleared the ball, but only finds a burgundy shirt in the rappers. As they roll the ball down the right hand side, Bombvita goes towards the near post, poor crossed by the rapids center Bacco advance from his back line finds the hands of Andrew Thomas.

So, Steve, let's let's think about what Bryan Schmitzer could do here. Potentially, Rosnack's a natural to shift into the middle of the park. Come on, I know Brian Schmetzer would like to get into minutes, but probably not in a situation like this. No, And I think Rosna coming on right away is he's a guy with the experience. You're probably gonna have to chase a little bit more so when you do have the board, you've

got to do everything you can to retain it. And I'm not surprised to see your two coming up because now probably don't have to be as direct, probably not to try and play as many balls in behind, try to get as much control as possible if and when you can. And Albert Russknite obviously gives you that, so he'll slot in there in the middle. We'll see where Jordan Morris looks to be moving towards the right hand side. I'm not

quite sure what's happening here? As I thought Jordan might come to the left. So Jordan on the right, Albert Russ knit slightly to the left, and Christian rod darn, he's gonna sit there by Vargas. It's a four to four one. The sun's gonna plays of like a four four one, which is a bit surprising for me. It feels like it was naturally Therefore, Morris play the left, yeah, Christian to play on the right and

Albert. Yeah. But I think maybe the engine of Christian Day can do two people's jobs sometimes in the middle, him and Vargas probably do have the two best engines. How fit is Albert four bucks to box and maybe just go on the left, give us possession, give us what you can, tucking when you can. And then Jordan now really becomes the outlet. He has to really really make those runs in behind when he can. Sounders have it in transition fast side the right with Alex Roldon comes inside to Vargas a

lot on his young shoulders. Now it's not immune to that pressure, of course, remember him coming off the bench. Placement of Jiaux Powelo and that conker kef final here just a couple of years ago. Now came on and played fantastic game to put the Sounders over the edge and be champions of Conker Kef's traveled to Morocco that following preseason. Sounds habit farst side the right with Alex Roldan comes inside to Vargas. Sounders doing well to maintain a little bit

of possession. But do you think Colorado will change the way they're playing or they're still gonna absorb a little bit and then just count more. Yeah, they did, because the clock is on their side is thirty minutes plus if we'll get for stoppage time. So Chris Armis's boys don't have to go for the juggler right away. They can buy their time, stay compact, see

what a Sounders do. And my one concern with this change from branch Metza is how narrow this lets outside will be now because Apple was like already is standing about ten yards from Rudias. He's very far inside new who's been told to kind of stay back and play narrow. So the width you've got naturally

from Leo True is not here on the left hand side. So we probably will see the Sounders trying to build more towards the right and then come into the left if and when they can, but really emphasize on the right hand side where Jordan Morris is well. A lot of the ball had gone out of bounds, but nothing given by the assistant referee on the far side. But the Sounders do pick it up, it's gonna be a throwing as they

roll it into the middle of the park with Christian rolled on. And we'll see other Sounders defend against eleven men if they sit what you'd expect them to do. But for a player coming into his first game, yes, he's had a full preseason of core fitness, Steve, but there's got a lot of real estate on that left hand side to go up and down. But then you've got new who on the left hand side, who's gonna be solid

in that back. Yeah, So I think that I do understand to think, and I think in a normal circumstance, if Albert Rusnak is somewhat fit, he comes in right in the midfield, but you want a bit of possession, maybe a bit more controlled, and so he'll tuck in, you'll played inside left. I would call it, and then knew who sometimes might provide it with as well, but they're gonna try to build on the right

hand side with Jordan Morris Alex Rodana. And it's a big, big role for rowd as well because he has now has to be the one to hold the board up and occupied the center backs. Fernander's into the box. The oh Jackson Reagan went down, down and low to head the ball. Free kick given it's always a strange one for me, Steve when defender goes low. Yeah, I don't think I did much wrong there. Yeah, he gets called in a free kick for high foot, high foot. It's gonna

be a free kick with the Sounders. And these are the situations where the Sounds will appreciate managing time. We'll get here in the sixty fourth minute, nine fifty jr AM. Wherever you're listening to us in the car, Apple TV SYNCD up for the audio or at home, you appreciate you joining us. Sounders leading after eleventh minute Panenka penalty by Ruy Diaz is seventy ninth goal all time for the Sounders, matching Freddie Montero for Sounders lead. But it

was an early red card for Josh Atensio. It was a second yellow called back after the play got when out of bounds play continued, Referee called it back, gave a second yellow. Confused all of us for a moment, and then we saw it was just a late challenge, more clumsy than anything, and attend to gets a red card, goes off the field. Sound is now playing with ten men. They dropped back banks of four in front

of Andrew Thomas's goal. Rosenberry plays a center to bomb Beto. Much more advanced now, of course, and it is center back role managing things. Jordan Morris comes back to help top of the box clip towards the far post. Andrew Thomas is gonna let that roll over the end line goes out for

a goalkick for the Sounders remain. Sounders warn Colorado Nill as we start to see some changes happening on the Colorado bench, and I think the rapids we will have to show some ambition here because listen, it's not often you get this kind of chance at Neumanfield, where the sounds I've been the much better team. We know that well only one nil sounds go down to ten men, You've got some fresh legs, and so I think this is now the

beginning of the Rapids game plan. What we're gonna see for the close out here, bringing on a couple of attacking options. I'm gonna sound there's gonna be a long twenty five plus minutes here. You've gotta expect at some point the storm will come, will be under pressure, and this is why that second goal, when you were on top in the first half for much of that first half, it was very important to get that second goal because you never know what can happen. Red Card coms. Now you're ten men.

You've gotta try to see the game out with a tight one go lead. Well, let's get those changes. Omir Fernandez comes off the field. Jonathan Lewis is gonna slide on. Named Calvin Harris, who scored the goal against Paul in that first game, comes off the bench. It's gonna slot in for Yeah, Piper, He'll slide to that right hand side. It looks like the Heilovich is gonna shift more into the central role play alongside Navajo. Will see if they play a slight different formation. They played, what's a

four four two with a diamond in the midfield, two up front. I'll see if Navajo will play more of a figurehead in a adjusted lineup with him as the true number nine something playing three narrow up front Lewis, Harris and Navajo. That man Lewis has it knocks in through the legs of Alex Roldan, but Jordan Morris doing his defensive duties and Bryan Schmetzwood talked about it cheap given away by Alex Roldan and it's just a silly challenge by Jackson Reagan and

it's a penalty not what the Sounders wanted. We just sung his praises about him being much more patient in the challenge. Yeah, a little rash and it's gonna be a penalty for the Rapids. Listen, Alex Rodan does him no favors with the giveaway, and we did mention that in the first half there was some sloppy giveaways from members of that Sounder's defensive back line and it wasn't punished in the first half. This time it is on branch mess.

I can see him taking a look at the monitor on the bench there. There's no question in my mind is the penalty there. Now. How much context is there will be curious to see, as we know everything is checked. But Jackson was just late and Ava, I think you the touch was the challenge was kind and just got down front. Nick ta around Jackson and absorbed the pressure well. On the big boards, it says decision penalty foul video review. I think that's to be a clear and obvious error and it's

not. And it's not. And you could see by the response for Jackson Reagan. Yeah, mister Polton, you straight away. Big moment, Big moment, Ahilovich for the Colorado Rapids in front of the south end, flax flying. He's got a chance to tie this one up as they are a man up already, takes his time, blows out his cheek, steps forward, Steves brilliant by the Sounders goalkeeper, and that's gonna get the fans on

their feet. Sounders continue to lead here in the lumin field, one goal to nil and it's Andrew Thomas, and the noise in the stadium is as good as there's a goal. And you can feel Andrew Thomas. You don't see the smile on his face, but Steve, you know he's just pausing inside. He's got to stay in a moment, understand up. But give us a smile, Andrew, because you just come up absolutely huge for your

team. There has not had much to do all afternoon, not much, and I've gotta say it's a really poorly taken penalty here by Mahaileovich there, but take nothing away from Andrew Thomas. He gets is right, gets down, holds onto the ball and you're right, Dany that response from the crowd. It felt like a goal was called because it was as good as a goal beat scored. And the Sounders are let off and Jackson Reagan, Alex

Rodan in particular, we'll be breathing a huge sad relief. Well, that's gonna energize the ten players out in the field right now, and that is just what the Sounders need, is activity on the Sounders bench. We'll see what changes Bryan Schwetza makes, but now it really is game on. Can clear the decks, take a breath, there's rappids, have a good step by Ariaga moves forward. Free kick for Sounders and again every free kick, every second they can burn off the clock. It's gonna be a second the

Sounders will take as they lead here one goal to nil. But it was a penalty save from Mahailovich Andrew Thomas in front of the south end, the flags were flying. He makes the saving, holds onto the penalty, stands up and just shows the crowd of the ball and he won't forget that moment. Has had much to do. But that's why if goalkeepers, you've got to stay locked in, especially mentally. And I think Fanfrey Thomas there the

team needed him. Now Jackson Reagan makes the foul, but the mistake came initially from Alex ro Dance gave away the sound is a huge let off when you can't afford that type of mistake in this kind of game. Four saves against elisc more active than that game, and it's been active again today. Strike on goal held well by Andrew Thomas. Again, crowd stands up gives him innovation. And I can say from a defender, making a great tackle

or a block is like a goal. And for a goalkeeper, of course, making a save any say, but especially a penalty save, it feels like a thirty yard shot from distance an outfield player. Yeah, especially when the team needs it. You know, the possession the sound has had, that's gone. We're gonna have a very hard time retaining the board here. The rapids you've seen the changes they've made, beginning to probe. Ask a

few more questions and seat we're gonna have to dig very deep. Panel branch metal has a bench to tooth from and he's gonna have to use it. Or goes along from Alex hold On good headed by Ruid Yeah, Jordan Morris top of the box, clicks it back to goal, little twist and turn. Maxo does a good job and it goes back to Rosneck. Ball block by bomb Beato, flicked up by var He's gonna run after it. Rosenberry's going to challenge me. Collects. It was initially a past to Jordan Morris,

but he was offside. He walked away. Vargas was able to chase it down, little turn, twists be Rosenberry knocks it forward to his left foot. Let's find as my Highlymitch goes over the rapids. Number ten, the player that missed the penalty. This goes out for a throw and it's gonna be a substitution for the Sounders. The more conservative from Brian Schmidtz or

Ruy Diaz is going to come off the field. So he trudges off, great level of disappointment, but I think he with all his experience understands that at this point in the game, tactically, Brian Schmetz has got to make some more conservative moves. Is gonna be Cody Baker, He's gonna come on the field. We'll see, we'll see. Is it gonna be Alex Wilder. It's going to slide up into a midfield position, Cody Baker maybe in

that right hand side, Jordan Morris potentially all the way up front. Yeah, And that's exactly what's happening there, you know, So nothing else in the midfield changes out, but stays on the left. I think it's just not to get Alex a bit higher up the pitch when you do get the ball on the right hand side. We know he has a very good cross on him. And then Cody Baker, you know, he's just Messa told before the game it's a very very tough cookie there a defender, and he

has a great engine. Especially for this last twenty twenty five minutes. You're gonna face it. Somebody can get up and down. We know Lewis can be a tricky winger to defend again, So it's a substitution that makes sense in every way. Well, sound as FC socket is presented by Provident, Swedish official health care partner of Sounders FC. Speaking of Providence, you gonna

think of the blood pressure of all of us right now. Yes, this could be a very testing We're gonna learn a lot about the sound as team, the character of a group on your The chips are down, backs against the wall. Twenty minutes or so to go. How deep can you dig? Because the pressure will come. The rapids are well poised here to dominate possession and create chances. But so far, to be honest, I sided

a penalty in a long distance shot from vines. The sounds I've actually been in good shape, held up quite well, but you don't want to keep dropping deeper and deeper and binder pressure. One Beta flicks to the far side to Jonathan Lewis, clecks it down well defending by Cody Baker just holds him up. Ball goes in miscleared strikes. It's the stomach of Oriaga. Ball back to the foot of Rosenberry, flicks around the corner to the high.

Lebit drives it in low, comes forward and strike and it's a block by rolled down. It was Naba who took the shot on the spin, but block by Alex Rolldan Findes has it far side the left to Lewis top corner of the box goes down towards the endlighte to Bassett comes in towards the bat post flicks headed clear by new Well play No Well flick over the top aka Paul gascoing against Scotland ninety six euros ninety six. That's a great memory.

You're a ninety six. The little flick over the head and they edged to pull out of pressure. The sounders are gonna build and it feels Steve that the sounders have that good mix right now. They've got the experience, yeah, but also the legs that you full legs. Yeah. And I think it's good for branch Messter to get Jordan Morris's back up top and the stand.

Raoul's staying on for a little bit, but he won't get him behind, and you're gonna have to relieve pressure just with clearances and things like that. And Alex rode down to getting him higher up one line. So if you have guys that can run and move, it allows Albert to maybe tuck inside next to Christian and Vargas a little bit help maintain possession and then after that, just defend. You's got to be good defensively. You've got to dig deep. It doesn't have to be pretty or perfect, dig deep and

try to get a three points. It's Harris towards the end line challenge by New. Well done by New who just gestures to the assistant referee because he's a little foul maybe, but he does a good job defending quickly and by Rosenberry didn't go along this time from his throat, goes short all across the far side to Vines, tucked in from his left back spot to Lewis comes it towards Hilovich, big money signing. Didn't stand up and ern his keep

right there with a miss penalty. The ball comes in headed clear by Jackson Reagan. Can Jordan Morris collect it? He does well, trings it down so nice little reverse ball almost found. The feat of Vargas looks a little tired as he kind of drops his shoulders with that giveaway. Gets back in position, got a defender's goal two banks of fourth of the sound as they hold the top of the box. Lewis drives past Cody Baker. Good play

by the young right back just does enough. Cleared by Alex ral Darn he tries to take the hit coming in from Lewis nothing given by the referee. Rapids come again. It's gonna be waves now from this Colorado Rapids team energized from new acquisitions in the offseason. Referee gives a goal kick. Crowd appreciates that decision from the referee. But this copyrighted audio cast of Major League Soccer may not be retransmitted, reproduced, or rebroadcast without the express written consent of

Major League Soccer. Get Here, in the seventy sixth minute, Sounder's leading one goal to nil. It certainly has been nothing but boring. Has been back and forth chances on both ends, Sounders scoring from Ruy Diaz in the first half, red card by Intensio early in this second half, and then what the Sounders did not want was giving away something silly. It was a peak cake given away by Jackson Reagan. But upsteps Andrew Thomas and makes a

save in front of the south end and Steve. We'll see how the next few weeks plays out. Stephan Fries me back in practice this week, of course, signing a new two year contract. He's obviously going to come back in the team as soon as he's ready. But you've got to think for Andrew Thomas, there is nothing more that he could do, ye and what a way if this is his last start for a little while, what a way to go out. And that's exactly and he'd have taken that role knowing.

Listen, when STEP's good and ready, he goes back in. What I need to show is that I am a dependable second option anytime Stephan Fries not up to one hundred percent not quite fit, branch mets up and the likes don't have to think twice about throwing me back in there. And Sounders look like they're going to clear their bench here and really get a few more

reinforcements in. We're have about thirteen minutes of regular time, plus whatever's going to be added on for the penalty, the red card, the little delays here and there. You've got to assume we've got at least fifteen to sixteen minutes, and it can be a long sixteen minutes for the Sounders when you have a man down, the weather's heart a lot of chasing hard to retain the board. Sarriaga went down, he's asking for the referee. Nothing nothing

given so far. Look like you rolled his ankle on that that change up board goes down the line and is going to go down to the deck. And I do see a certain number twenty eight on the bench you stripped down, and what you don't want to see is an injury, certainly for Oriago is called back up with Ecuador recently for games on the East coast. But you could see on that clearance he went over on his ankle went down straight

away. Of course, the Colorado Rapids don't need to knock the ball out of bounce, and this time as soon as they go of the end line, it's allowed Ori to go down to the deck. That's suddenly that change. Yes, it may have already been dialed up that Oriaga now is going to have to nurse a potential twisted ankle as he gets taken care of by the medical staff. But Steve, when you think about the sounders and the

changes they're gonna make. We look at Masofski down there, he's at Danny Laver, yeah, and Yamar. Danny Labor's looked really good in pre season. Of course, Danny Labor, playing at Colorado Rapids on loan last year, played nineteen games for Colorado and his time there Oil counted a really nice job, had a good preseason. He'll slot into that central area. Maybe for a far Gas, we'll see Massofski. He thinks I like for like switch for Morris, will take a look in a second. Obviously, Yemar

is gonna come on the field for Oriaga. He's gonna partner up Yamar and Jackson Reagan again, who were so good in twenty twenty three. Thirty two goals against last season matched the league best alongside Nashville. But as Brian Schweitzer said in some of his comments this week, let's not have too many expectations of Yamar. This is his first game of the entire preseason, end season. Yeah, but who had a feeling in speaking to branch Metza, you

know that he did want to find minutes for Yama. Regardless, probably would have wanted to be too free nail get him out there, get a little run out. When now he's coming into this this has been full into the lines then because they're gonna face a lot of pressure and Yamar is probably a

good sub to bring it on in this situation. Well, Sanders fans, if sunders FC scores any time after the eighty eighth minute during a home match, you'll have the chance to win free Lasik surgery from Sharp Vision Modern Lasik and lens. Sign up today at sounders fc dot com slash laser focus. So we see the first change, Jordan Morris comes off, Mussovski goes on like for like switch there, Mussos is gonna give us good ten to fifteen

minutes, depending on added time from the referee to run the line. As a number nine troll Darn comes off. For surprise, the Labor's gonna slot in. We'll see the change up in the midfield. You're pushing Christian rule. Dump back out to the right. Lavor goes in alongside old bed Vargas there in the midfield. Musoski, as you mentioned, goes up top and us next days where he is. And of course the Amos starting right into that right center back role next to Jackson Reagan and two of them, as

you mentioned, you're a formidable partnership. Last season first contribution by Masoski was not it kind of barrel down the raz a free kick given for offside and certainly Steve It's not always been the case with Brian Schmetzer of youth and confidence in youth. But over the last number of years it's been all about giving these young kids a chance. If they step up and they play well,

then they give him those chances. And of course Danny Labor playing alongside Vargas, there's Rappids have it top corner of the box, christ of all on his good job standing it up into the chest of Andrew Thomas collects it, drops to the ground just to burn off a couple more seconds as the referege just reminds Andrew Thomas that he's aware of the antics to get the Sounders goalkeeper dicked out in all blue today, matching up ninety with the sounds of the

anniversary, kit ball gets launched a long towards Musoski, heading clears by Masu, goes to Harris, back to Zach Stephan, who's been really quietness second half of you'd expect sounds down and man for the good majority of the second half, with Josh Attenil getting a second yellow card for a late challenge on Lorez Colorida, Rapids were in transition, but sounds now as the referee flag gotta go up. It looked like it came from an offside position. Nothing

given so far. All ships from far side the left to Loretz near side the right finds Harris challenged by Nuu eighteen yards from the end. Like cuts it back to Lorez makes its fourth start of four, most games in a season for the young central midfield players, and all goes in towards the front post. That's a difficult one. It bounced right in front of Andrew Thomas in that front post. But cleaning his catch. Cleaning is save. And

Andrew Thomas will take another nice smile and step up the lines. He's gonna launch it long. But what have you seen so far from Musofski and Sounders Green. It's me most on the practice field. Steve comes in from time at LAFC at RSL. Sixteen goals in over eight MLS games. Yeah, and I think I think it's someone at least who knows the league, has enough experience played in a lot of MLS games. And for this particular reason

today all bar guess just turns over this. Yeah, because a guy who's gonna come in Listen, it's not the prettiest game to come in as a forward. It's not gonna be fun rundown, blank channels blank Alley's pressure the defenders when you can try to be an outlet fourteen orbit possessions. So I think we'll see his best skills in different circumstances. Today's rodal situations where you're

going on there just to do a job for the team. The corner kick for the Rapids, it's gonna be Lorez outswinger with his right for this near sight the Rappers right headed clear up in the air, white labor top of the box. His Lewis strikes the ball against the shins of Christian rolled on. Ball clears towards the half way line, like to buy Sam another off season acquisition for the Rapids. As he mentioned, Rapids faithful with demanding investment

from ownership. He did step up in the off season, supported Chris Armas and his rebuild. All top of the box to bomb. Beata looks to strike the ball straight down the chest of Andrew Thomas. Round of applause by the Sounders fans. Andrew Thomas is gonna launch it long nicely down the left hand side, bounces once. Isn't that gonna challenge? Referee gives the free kick. We could see that Jersey being tugged by the sounders. Number eleven

gets his first minutes of the twenty twenty four season. He's gonna work himself back all down the line inside the box towards the front post. Cleared well by Jackson Reagan, who shifted from the right side of the two in the middle to the left side, goes down. Nothing given by the referee, Brian Schmitzer, demanding more from Brusnak. Ball goes in. Andrew Thomas came threw, clattered into a couple of players, goes over the top, goalkick

sounders remains Sounders one rappids nil steves that Quani. Yeah, we're seeing the pattern that the game is gonna take now. It's gonna be a lot of that sounders absorbing pressure. I will say with Atensil going out in the seventh minute, we've had a good chunk of time go by here. The sounders haven't been peppered with bunch of shots. And Andrew Thomas hasn't been diving in and around the goal. It's been some things from distance which will be straight

at him. The sounds going to accept that. A few crosses which sounds I've dealt with well, and so if you can keep that going, branch Bettter, you've actually played this out rather perfectly. I think you do want to play a few more boards in behind and tried to maintain some kind of

possession while understanding it's very difficult to do so. But the Rapids haven't really made the man count and really put the Sounds on the pressure and look like scoring apart from the penalty which Andrew Thomas obviously made a decent say about. Yeah, you expect them to have possession. They have that fifty nine percent the second half, but only five shots on goal, one of them being, of course, the penalty was saved. Labor steps in, goes down,

went through his legs just unlucky god. Yellow card again by the referee. It was a little harsh. It was more of a missed time challenged by Labor top of the box. But it's gonna give the Rapids a chance from all of about twenty two yards right of center. Sam Vines called Bassett lining up. Loraz comes over to have a word. We'll see if my Hilevitch will step up with his right foot. Feels primed for a left footer and Sam Vines the sounders set up their wall. These are the times,

Steve, that Sounders need to stand strong. These are the games need to grind out backs against the wall down to ten men penalty safe in the second half. Yeah, because if you can see this kind of game out then it just reads so much confidence. It's one of those wings that would end up being more than three points because it's gonna ripple a flexpood entire group that we can overcome adversity. We held strong, we didn't bend defensively, were

still there. Raoul got a goal, all good things, but you have to see these last few minutes out. Sam Vines with his left foot looks like he's stepping up a high livi It ship there. Also it's gonna be the right foot goes into the back and it goes in the back of the net. It's a goal by the Rapids. It was a really good free

kick. The crowd goes soilent, but it was quality off. The set piece to follow up was from a yard out, knocked into an empty net, and the Rapids tied up here at lumin Field in the eighty eighth minute. Listen, it's got to be said, it's a fantastic free kick ma Heidovich. There, bend's around the ward, hits the inside of the post and the crossbar, and then he transfer cobral and he can't miss his a yard out there. He's the quickest to react as Raoul Rudias protests something.

Then he gets the edow card. But the sounders the fear was in the run of play get offended well, but set pieces, that's a red card. It's a red card by Ruy dis I mean Brian Schmelzer. It's just we're just watching Brian Schmetzer walk up and down the sideline. So referee has been extremely liberal with his yellow cars today. We'll know. I'm not quite sure what ral Rudy has did or said yellow the red guard gets retracted. I think he got a mistaken identity. Was not like a potential second yellow.

Was thinking that it wasn't just the yellow card. Emotions running high right now, Steve, Yeah, but I got it. Just sucks the energy and the wind at the stadium. You saw when the ball in the back of the neck, the whole place fell completely silent because we're just we knew it was gonna be tough, and you were hoping to just see it through see it through. But in this kind of situation, set pieces can be very difficult. Because my highly Vich took a very good one. The Rappers

reacted very quickly to it. And now for the sound As you're trying to see this out, so on one one rap is now they're gonna try win the game where you gonna see him kickof they're already ready to go. But let's just say and just make a statement quickly about Andrew Thomas. It was an incredible save. Yeah, I mean that ball was going to the top corner of the goal, he got a fingertip on it, he knocked it onto the crossbar and post and unfortunately for the Sounders, nobody folded up.

Yeah, and that's gonna be what Brian Schmitz and his coaches said, we're gonna have to go out. Yeah, that will let branch S messer down. Absolutely. I know Andy Roles work's a lot with the defensive group there. Also for set pieces, you have to react, especially in this kind of game where it's going to be fine margins and it was a very good free kick ends up coming back off the pulse and you have two Colorado players there pretty much you know, unmarked Cabral had all the time in the world

to tap the ball into the back of the net. And so for the Sounders, now we'll see what time is added on. There will be a decent chunk of time added on at one one here. The game's there for the Rappers to take. But for the Sounders, don't lose the game. Now, try to at least get a point. All down the line for Christian roll down, but Bombito rolls it back the outside. His foot's gonna hold up a little bit in the turf. Zack Stephan plays it to col

Bassett and the Rapper is gonna come again. Whereas like just looking a little labored out there as he works his way back into the team, he gets minutes under his belt. Sounders with a winning record here fourteen two and one all time in regular season against the Rapids. We're looking at the board now extra time added times gonna be nine minutes, nine minutes for the Sounders to find a goal, but certainly to hold on as well as they continue to

be a man down. Sounders won Rapids one here at Looming Field early kickoff in MLS nine fIF ams. Can the Sounders hang on claim a point? We all accounts point well earned. As down it Labor knocks it up in the air. Of course, Labor's gonna be somewhat disappointed. It was a free kick given away by him top of the box in my high Levich the chance to whip his right foot around it, and the again under Thomas came

up with a brilliant save. I went from the follow up from within a yard or two empty net for Harrison knocking in the back of the net. Yeah, and now we've seen a switch as well, my sauces as going out to the right hand side. It's Christian role done, who's pent every position pretty much for the sounder's outfold position at least now as a number nine, just to give the sounder some kind of outlet. But it's going to be a very very difficult Chaska for the Sounders. Foul by Cabral as he

bundles into the back of question rolled on. It's an SGB yellow card when a fowl is called. SGB trial lawyers are here to help visit SGB dash Law dot Com. As Harris remains on the deck just gets up gingerly. I'll be correct. It was Cabral who got the goal in the eighty seventh minute, Colorado to tied up after a first half goal from ruy Diez. Sounders just feeling a step behind the pace right now. As they work it through over the top, it's gonna be Yamar just flicks it away, finds

Jackson, Reagan, gonna find Danny Lavor. Good little turnout of pressure from Lavor clips it to this near side, the left well played by the young Sounders midfield player getting his first minutes of the season. Ball down towards the end line. It's new inside the box. Can you find something of quality? He does, gets blocked well by Bombito. It's gonna be a corner kick for the Sounders. See Bombito's response like it scored a goal with that

block. It's Colorado try to find another positive result to continue their climb out and away from the the lows of the twenty twenty three season. But the Sounders have a chance here. It's gonna be Labor with a corner gate this near side. The left in swinger with his right foot comes in top of the six yard box, headed clear by Navaho, flicks away by Harris or played by Vargas. Foul given by the referee. It was a nudge by Harris on Vargas. It's gonna be a frea kick for the Sounders, and

that's good for the Sounders. Again, take your time, no need to rush here. I think you do think about sending the ball into the box there because in these opportunities there you can maybe find a way to get the game, to find a chance. But Sounds play a quick and lose it and that's not what you want to do. You don't wand the Rappords to

have the board and a chance to build any kind of possession. And here they come with time and space in the high levitch crossed the half way line center of the field, hits, the referee is gonna call it back new rule of course, the ball hits, a referee's gonna be given back to the team in possession in the center circle. As we watched this rolling clock with the ninety three minute mark and thirty eight seconds of nine, it's an

inch closer to the halfway point. In this added time, Bassett plays the ball inside to Masu to Loraz that there are assured performance by the young midfield player for the Rapids. It's lewis gonna wip it towards that front that far post, Thomas lets it bounce, goes over the inline for a goal. Kick remains. Sounders one, Colorado one and the Rave Green are back on the road to go up against San Jose Earthquakes on Saturday, March twenty third

at seven thirty pm. Watch the match via the MLS Season Pass on the Apple TV app and listen on nine to fifty KGr AM and l Ray thirteen sixty am in Spanish. The Providence Swedish pre match show starts at seven pm. Sounders one Colorado one here at a sun drenched lumen field and the score up thing is presented by Provident Swedish and at this point Steve is it's with all things considered, is one point a decent result. I know it's not

what Brian Schwetzer wants, but it is a decent result. It's a good point because you've played close to forty minutes, it will be with ten men, and you haven't really been troubled to be two set pieces. The penalty was the biggest chance and the goal came off a free kick. Aside from that, in the run of play, you've been doing really well for the sound is absolutely it will be a point where and Labor striding forward thirty yards

from Gold comes inside. Bassett managed to clipping around, gets bundled over. Nothing given by the referee. It's gonna run out of gas, run out of options. Rappers are gonna come. Christian Waldon already put his hands up. Start to see yellow carts get kind of accumulated the TENSI of course getting that second yellow. Knew who on a yellow carts that stepan on a yellow. Harris knocks the ball down the line to the high levitch challenge by Vargas.

Top of the boxes, Harris, with his left foot strikes the all well straight down the gut of Andrew Thomas has looked as short so fas Steve. Independent of the penalty, Yeah, he's at He's had a very very good game. I think his distribution has been very very good, safe pair of hands. Anything has come towards him. He's done what he's supposed to do, no spills, not giving any unncessary rebounds. Did very well on the free kick, which was a fantastic free kick, and he did very

well on that. Of course, the penalty safe was the highlight of the game. So He's done absolutely everything he's had to do today. But in the end for the Sound, it just was a step too far playing with ten men having to chase with that long of a period of time. The Rappers will bring in a pressure. Yes, the Sound has stood tall and they ben it'll really break. But set pieces ths will be an X factor

and the Rappers are advantage of one of theirs. Sound. Rapids in possession middle of the field with Lorez senter circle, just kind of striding forward looking for options, finds out options in fines down left hand side to the Lewis one b one versus Cody Baker. Code Baker stands in but Well comes off the armor. Lewis saw it, players saw it. Any person didn't see it was the man in yellow. He goes over the end line. It's gonna be a corner kick for the Rapids. The booze ring around loomin field.

It's gonna be the first corner kick for the Rappids in this second half. It could be the fast side the rap is left as the referee just push the whistle to his mouth, just settling things down in the boxes. Undrew Thomas pinned on his goal line with a combination of Maxu and Harris. If you're just keeping a good eye on it. These are the situations sometimes can get called in favor of the goalkeeper. Will bounce around, it just bounces through, it goes over the end line. It's gonna be a goalkick

for the Sounders and they will take a big sigh of relief. Steve Zacquani and I don't know how that stayed out. You had two or three Rapids players right there. When it's a fantastic delivery, first of forward, it lands in the danger zone, over Andrew Thomas, over all the Sounders defenders, but thankfully for the Sounders past everyone on the Rapids as well. Otherwise we've been a simple tap in and for sure a game winning gold. So you asked me, is it a good point? Yes, for those kind

of reasons. It is a good point. Because you've had to play almost forty minutes with ten men. It's tough for the Sounders to do, still missing some key players, some guys still coming back to Ford fitness. You wanted to win this game. You did what you could in the first half, but in the end you've got to take the point. If that's what you get out of this game well San Jose next Saturday. They've got three losses out of their first three games. Certainly don't leave us after this game.

Jackson felt James Riley will be back to break it all down in our post game show. As the Sounders come away, are they gonna get one more chance to try and claim all three points? Borre goes center the park to Labor well played by the young central midfield player, finds all done, go Zoray. It's the far side to Cody. Double team by Lewis knocks it down the line. Well played. Can he get some quality in get

stuck under his feet? Isn't able to find a player in green and now the Sounds have to work their way back quickly and his Christian rolled on head down, driving back to support his back line and he gets back between player and ball. Good inspired running again by the Sounders. Number seven Colorado Rapids, having thirty five yards in the end line inside left channel, goes out to the far side the left of Sam vines he's gonna clip it in towards

the far post. Jackson. Reagan goes up almost bundles into the back of a Rapids player doesn't find yourself to Lewis good block by Nuu finds herself top of the box with lorass times up here. Ninety nine minutes has gone. All goes into the ref We're gonna get one more chance to deliver can Andrew Thomas collects it, He does and that will be there. Referee puts the

whistle to his mouth and brings the game to an end. The booze ring around lubin field, but it's not for the effort of the Sounders, it's not for their desire. As the players go down on their knees having played with ten men for the majority of that second half, those booze are directed towards the referee for the decision he made to call that red card for Atensio. But Steve zac Quaney, let's get your final thoughts. Yeah, the red card changed the tenth of the game. You know, I fought at

halftime. The Sounders would have been happy, but would have been very disappointed to have not made it to nail, because there was always a chance in football that if you don't give usself that cushion, if it can happen. And the red card did happen, and in the end, playing with ten men for forty minutes or so. You've got to take the point be pleased with that. You still want that would if the sounds. But I think branch Mess has gonna be proud of his boys and the effort they gave today,

and obviously Andrew Thomas stepping up big time. Yep, Sonda is still waiting for the elusive first win of the season. It was a Ruy Diez goal in the eleventh minute at Penenka penalty and then it was a Cabral finish from out two yards out to an empty after a free kick that was expertly saved by Andrew Thomas, who is the Toyota Man of the Match for today. Well deserved. Well. Thanks for everyone involved in today's broadcast, Terry Ryan and Keeley Dunning. Here in the booth, Kevin k as always,

Sounders FC Soccer is brought to you by Providence, Swedish official healthcare partner of Seattle Sounders FC. The Sounders FC postmatt Show starts now. Well, it's a final from Sonny Luminfield. Your Seattle Sounders have split the points with the Colorado Rapids a final score of one to one.

Welcome into the postmatch show Jackson Feltz and James Riley for the next half hour as we discuss this, I feel like I just jumped in a cold lake right now. Oh, oh my gosh, what a last forty five

minutes of this match. There is so many things to discuss. I have no idea where we want to start, James, so let's just start by simply getting the overall reaction where Sounders leading one nothing at half, Josh Atensio gets a second yellow, He's sent off Colorado's pressing they eventually get the equalizer. In the eighty eighth minutes. There was about ten thousand yellow cards given out. I mean, just a whirlwind of a last forty five minutes.

But James, the final score is only one one. Yeah, an eventful game for sure. I think when you look at it and you do some self reflection, you know, the Sounders will think that there's points that slipped away. But credit to the Rapids. When they got the man advantage, they really started to pour it on. I thought the Sounders bent but didn't break until that free kick and then the follow up. So it's just those different moments in the game, but overall great effort. I think the Sounders

will feel like it definitely is a loss. One with giving up the main advantage with a double yellow unfortunate, and then too being up a goal, not being able to weather that storm any way possible unfortunate of the great save from the keeper off the post crossbar, and then the follow up, so it's just kind of one of those things. I mean, Andrew Thomas, you know, not only the save on what ends up being the goal, and it's the rebound that goes in, but it's his saving the penalty.

I mean, I'll tell you right now, I think it's pretty obvious. Today's Toyota Man of the Match is Andrew Thomas. I'll mention your local Toyota dealers are proud to present today's man of the match. But Andrew Thomas had a spectacular game. And you watched when that final whistle wins after ninety nine minutes of play, every single sounder to flay a player either either bent to

their knees or fell to their knees. You could see playing with ten men for thirty three plus nine minutes and just the effort that it took today to even get a point in this match. I mean, they gave their all, but it's it comes at the end of quite an effort from a lot of players on this team. It just wasn't enough for all three. Yeah, you talk about thirty three plus nine, forty two minutes of playing down

a man in this heat. The turf is hot on a hot day, you know, when you've put a lot in the first half, not coming in knowing, you know, obviously not preparing for it, but to have to do it with forty two minutes of game time is very difficult, and a lot of times you see teams get a man advantage and it's actually a

benefit to the team that's bunkering, right. I just think they needed to maybe condense their line of confrontation and just bunker and two blocks of eight, you know, put two blocks of four plus the one when you get stretched. I mean, it's just a lot of ground for everyone to cover. So for me, it was just to drop the line in confrontation back, maybe even the halfway line top of the circle. Get very condensed and come back and be difficult to break down. But I just thought when one goes

it just too many gaps and a lot of work. But like you said, the guys put their heart and soul into it. You know they're working. They're trying to work in transition, in possession, in defensive shapes and pockets. So you know they'll they'll definitely feel hard done, but unfortunate, absolutely indeed. And there's a lot to discuss with this one win result for the Sounders. We're gonna be on for the next half hour here on Sports Radio nine to fifty k AM. It's not a win, but this season

It felt very out of place. We'll discuss that whole situation well here from Brian Schpenzer. A lot to get to here on Sports Radio nine to fifty KRM. Well, it's time for our Emerald, Queen Casino,

play the match. We're gonna go to the sixty seventh minute. Sounder's leading one nothing in this moment and the goalkeeper today, Andrew Thomas, stepped up huge, takes his time, he blows out of his cheek, steps forward Steves brilliant by the Sounders goalkeeper, and that's gonna get the fans on their feet. Soundness continue to lead here in the lumin Field one goal to nil, and it's Andrew Thomas, and the noise in the stadium is as good

as a goal. And you can feel Andrew Thomas. You don't see the smile in his face, but Steve you know he's just buzzing inside. He's got to stay in a moment on a stand up. But give us a smile, Andrew, because you just come up absolutely huge for your team there. The play of the match is presented by Emerald Quing Casino, the betting capital of the Northwest. James, what a moment that was. Obviously, he comes up with the initial save on the free kick that eventually leads to

the Rapids goal. But Andrew Thomas's day overall was excellent, very very good showing by him. You know, almost an opportunity for two shoutouts in a row, right. I thought he showed his quality. I thought he commanded his box. I thought he was good on the saves that he needed to make. You could hear him and see him talking and organizing the back line. Very very good showing on only the penalty stop, but this saves that he just needed to make cleanly as a goalkeeper. And then on the eventual

equalizer getting a hand to that free kick. That's a dangerous spot for a free kick, especially when you have two capable guys. They had a left footed guy and a right footed guy, and the left footed guy is the one that stepped over it first, kind of peeled back and it kind of allowed the right foot guy to kind of come through and it actually it was a fantastic free kick and even a better save. And it's just unfortunate the bounce. It could literally the tip could go off the crossbar post and go

out for a corner. It could go anywhere, but it literally set perfectly, you know, kind of rebounded inside the frame of the goal, which is you know, perfect for a tap. And so very unfortunately Kevin Cabral that's the easiest goal he'll have his entire life. But what a day there from Andrew Thomas, well deserved less and Stephen Friest working back from a right

hamstring strain and listen his longest Stephan Fries out. I'd say, let's just be cautious because there's no reason to rest Stephen fry when you have a goalkeeper and goal like Andrew Thomas, who I have immense confidence in him every single time we're going out there, and mean what I'm moment for him to building

the confidence, I mean built the confidence. Being on the Side by Side podcast with Keeley Zach and Brad Steven and Brad earlier this week and then you know this moment where he makes that penalty, saving the entire brom end is chanting. Andrew Toomas, I mean the confidence he gained from today pretty exceptional. We'll take a break here in the postmatch show. We'll come back and we'll hear from head coach Brian Schmitzer. Let's head down to the bowels of Lumenfield, where head coach Brian Schmeitzer is currently speaking, you need to keep at it. Can you continue to work at it? And then so we go down further in a year, we'll make assessments in the next transfer window. I mean, that's that's the

plan. You're going to give Jordan a first shot as he earned that last year. You're going to raul a shot. We signed Masofsky. We've got forwards it you know, can score. So at some point that's going to be addressed. I'm not so sure that's the you know, reason why we drew. I mean we could, we could maybe talk about that. I'm sure somebody will ask me that question, but certainly it is a concern because had we put the game away at two nothing, we scored the second goal,

game's over. Jeremiah, Yeah, So I guess along those same lines, it seemed like the match was reasonably in control when the red card came, and I guess what did you think of the way your team? You guys handled the playing down a man fine up until the set piece. I mean, look, you're going to be put under pressure. Did we have enough possession? And maybe not. Hovey's injury came at the wrong time because we're going to make a different sub and Hovey coming off certainly was an issue,

so we flipped it around. But I thought it was flying up until a set piece. And I will tell you what I told those guys in there the game. It's a team sport and everybody needs to do what they can. You know, games are not won and lost on one play. Okay, but Andrew saves a penalty and it makes a save. That ball is going for the upper corner. I mean, that's a good free kick. And Andrew makes a better save. And where are his teammates to help

him in that moment? Why is it that the Colorado player gets there first? After we trained that two days ago. Two days ago we worked on all our defending set pieces, so that that, you know, is an issue, and that's something Jose we can clean up. All right, We'll come down to Mounts here in the front row. Yeah, I guess I'm

just speaking to that. You start out just free flowing for the first fifteen minutes of the first half there and the end there, there's some decisions making obviously that you got to be somewhat frustrated with, like you're saying, the helping on a set piece, not picking up yellow cards. Just you this decision making in the finals, I would say half of the second half. Yeah, okay, you're all over the shop. They're a little bits, I mean the first part of it, first part of your question. Let

me address it. So, yeah, I thought the team start off well. I mean the gold that penalty was deserved robul. I mean, that's a again, you know, it takes a lot of courage to do that. So we're we're kind of in control. And have we played our best stuff? No, but we're in control of the match. And then yes, you get a couple of decisions that players make and the game starts to unravel a little bit. And how did we react? How did we circle

the wagons and try and hold onto one nothing? You know, it's unfortunate that, you know, Josh gets the second yellow, but I can't argue with the referee, can't Andy Musta Seattle Times. You know, Andrew Thomas and like, you know, put in a really good shift for you guys today. He's been more pretty good since stepping in for seven. What do you kind of asked him to do, kind of stepping into this role right now. Well, we asked him to keep us in games, which he

has. I can't fault him for the goals that he took against l AFC and I can't really fault him for the goal he took today. He did everything he could, saved penalty, saved a free kick, was in control of his box. You know, made a couple of says early. You know he had to come down ball skipping off the turf. I think the kid's been good. That's Seattle Sounders FC head coach Brian Schmitzer following today's one to one game here between the Sounders and Colorado Rapids here at Loomin Field.

Very quickly, i'll tell you that Sounders EVS Socker is presented by Providence, Swedish official healthcare partner of Sounders FC. James. I want to go back to his his second answer there. He was talking about he can't he can't knock the refereeing where indeed, I think we can all agree it was a second yellow on Josh Atensio. That's a fair red card. No disagreements there.

Uh. The weirdness of that play, and I mean as a former player, let's see if you agree with me, is the fact that the the ref stops play about a minute after that slide tackle and for the for the minute in between. You know, I'm kind of saying to myself, all right, well, that must mean that it's not a second yellow, because in a case like this, if it is going to be a red, if you are going to send a player off, the game stops immediately.

And because everything changes when when a team goes down, man, so you stop the game, you give the second yellow. He's off. Done. The game kept going for about a minute until randomly you sounders were working up the field on the left side with Newho and Chew randomly just stops and boom, second yellow card. Attensio is gone in the middle of the run of play a minute later. Really really weird situation there. Yeah, that one was a unique one. You're definitely gonna feel, you know, hard

done by that. But I think coach Schtzer, you know, said it, no no argument with the double yellow. I think the way it transspired so kind of uniquely is the frustration. But you know, I think, you know what what Smetzer alludes to and this is for me is his his kind of ability to lead in difficult times is what really makes him specially he goes, listen, things are in our control. We worked on defensive set pieces, on following up the play. You know, why is it a

rapids players there before a defensive player? Fair statement? I mean, why is frustrated too? He was very certainly right. So those are kind of fair statements. And the guys will always do self reflection. They'll look at the video, they'll look at the film and see what they've could have done better. But he said it as we jumped in early on, like they just got to get back on the horse. There's nothing you can do like get back to it, right, take what you can learn from this and

go. You know some things that they have done. I mean they're still undefeated at home, which is great. Three goals against in three games, right, two goals, a multi goal game, then the shutout, a multi goal game against LAFC. And then a shutout last week at home and then that one like very close to having another shutout to shut out, you know, two shoutouts in the row. Obviously, you have the gap with the Philadelphia game, but you know, the defensive side of the ball is

good. I think when we jumped in the you know, the question is probably alluding to something about goal scoring and creating opportunities. And I think, you know, full confidence again in Jordan and Ruy Diaz and those guys to create goals and really find their rhythm. But goal scoring, as we know,

is not easy. And Roll look good at this game. He did like Rowell obviously, and we mentioned in the halftime show that penalty that he scored in the eleventh minute is his seventy ninth career goal for the Sounders across all competitions. That ties him with Freddie Montero for the most all times. So the next goal from Roll will put him at number one over Freddy. And I think in all three matches we've seen so far this year, James the role has looked very good. I agree today he was very good.

It was unfortunate that he had to get subbed out. More of a man management kind of manage the game being down a man. But you have Ruidas on him, you have your new you know, young DP signing del Vega, who obviously is out with the injury. But those are the guys that you've brought into unlocked and create some production up front. But I think without a doubt Rui Diaz was frustrated when he came off, and again, Spencer's

not wanting to He's just like looking at the game. What puts the team currently in the best position to seal off this one zero victory because he came off when it was still one one zero for the Sounders, which is the frustrating thing, and it's unfortunate, but you roll that dice, you understand it. And like he said, it's a team game, so you do your role that you're called upon. He was called upon to play sixty sixty five minutes today and you know he did his job. He did his job

well. His goal gives the Sounders their goal and unfortunately Colorado gets one as well. It is a one to one final from Woomenfield. Surprising? After I figured out the top rated TVs in our price range, I went shopping for deals and who's the best. It wasn't the Internet, and it wasn't the

Warehouse Club, but it was Video Only. You're listening to the Home of Sounders FC Seattle on Sports

Radio nine fifty KJR. Welcome back to Luminfield, where your Seattle Sounders have gotten a point today. They split it with the Colorado Rapids, who get a one to one result as well. On the road, a late goal gets the equalizer. But sign to take a look ahead at what's next for your sounders and for your sounders, it's gonna be on the road next Saturday

night. They're heading to San Jose to face the earthquakes. It's a seven o'clock Providence, Swedish premat show right here Sports Radio nine to fifty kJ AM and seven thirty kickoff for Sounders in San Jose Earthquakes. You know to watch the match via MLS Season Pass on the Apple TV app or listen in Spanish language on LRA thirteen sixty. So as we wrap up the postmatch show, Jackson Feltz James Riley here from Blomenfield. James, as we were just talking

in the break about what the Sounders now do. Josh Atensio red card, he must miss the next match there against San Jose. But Albert Russnak returns to the game. He comes in in the match and he looks fine. I would seem that he got what sixty you no, you got thirty nine minutes of action. So it would seem to me, James, that you could almost continue in a four to four to two slip Russnack in for Atensio and you're good to go. But there's other wrinkles they could put into that.

At the same time, there are I think Russnack more of an attacking player tensio, you know, covers more ground, is in charge of winning more of the duels and headers and knockdowns, and so it's not necessarily a

like for like. But if they wanted to stay with the four to four to two formation flat, they could or they could modify, as we spoke about, into a diamond, put Rushnak into the tip of that f goal scoring is the issue, and then have Russnach kind of helping facilitate Jordan Morris and ruy Diez, you know, or you could revert to a back to a four to two three one variation and just kind of, you know, switch some other additional players around. So certainly you know something that coach Spencer

and the team will look at and be ready. I'm sure they'll put in a great week of training this week and be ready for that San Jose clash which will be of a very big game. Yeah, there's the interesting thing. Let's go back to the diamond comment with for our for our last point here, because we're seeing rollriy Diez have all that flexibility and all that freedom to kind of roam around. And while it's listed as a four to four to two where Roll is next to Jordan, we're seeing role play a little

bit off of him, a little bit behind him. He'll roam around. And it seems to me where if you can tell, if you say Russnick in this four four two diamond, you are the head of that diamond. You have this pocket, and then Ral you have the freedom to play off a Russneck and kind of find that space and find that pocket between Jordan. We talked about link up play in the in the pre match show, and it feels like a situation where you have obed, you know, in the

spine of the team. You have Obed, then you have Russneck, you have role finding a pocket, and you have Jordan up front. That link play could end up finding some really interesting and and good results in san if that's what they do. Very true. I mean, you're literally putting your three most attack minded, production based players in front of goal. Right You're putting Jordan, Morris, Ruy Diaz with Russnack behind it, right in the spin, right right up the spine, in the central part of the field.

So that could be a great combination, and then everyone else just has to balance around them, you know, ch could you know be tucked in but then also his game is out wide, so he could be serviced with that. That's where maybe Roll Don on the right side could tuck in to kind of help, you know, with the transitional moments. If it happened, so that Obed's not by himself, but certainly you're putting your your top three offensive minded players right in the heart of you know, the opponent.

So could be a great, great shift in formation and really unlock some players. Christian Rodan has talked about playing more central, playing more in that spine, and you could almost create a second diamond where it's Jordan and then it's Owl and Christian on the right, with Roll on the left and Russknack. There is as the he's the top of the first time in but he's the

bottom of the second diamond. I mean that kind of link play, that kind of you know, right up through the middle, that could do things

against San Jose. I'm very interested to see what Brian Spencer and the coaching staff a do in practice over the next week and then be what they decide to go with here next Saturday night in San Jose once again seven o'clock Providence, Swedish prematch show seven thirty kickoff Sounders San Jose a week from today, but for today, once again it's a one to one result with the Colorado Rapids here at lumin Field, the Sounders unfortunately giving up an eighty eighth minute

equalizer. Josh Attensio, Red Card Hill miss that San Jose match and we'll see where we go. One thing, everybody for tuning in today.
