Welcome to the Sounders FC Postmat Show. Sounders FC Sucker is brought to you by Providence, Swedish official healthcare partner of Seattle Sounders FC. The Sounders FC Postmat Show starts now. Woo. Everybody can breathe a sigh of relief because the Sounders are headed and hosting the Semis August twenty seventh, twenty eighth. Coming up. One of those two days they will host either LAFC or New Mexico United in the US Open Cup Semifinal at Starfire. Here we go.

That was a two to one win over Sacramento. Kellan Road, Jackson Feltz here for the postmatch show and Kellen that was a little bit more nervy than I think we wanted to be. But all's well. That ends well. I suppose it's a Sounders win and we're moving on. Sounders love their drama. Boy do they love their drama? Lossless drama ted uncle by the way, go ahead. No, it looked they had an amazing first half that we were all sitting there going wow that this Sounders team is insanely good.

We're back to our old ways. We're showing it up. What two goals in the first half amazing, you said six in a row, think, so that's incredible, and you were expecting that professional performance to go through. However it did not. It did not, and it did it didn't start well for us at all. No a goal there right away in the forty ninth minute there corner that got headed between Andrew Thomas's legs. A Sacramento a little bit lucky that knew who just left his man to the back post.

And then a little bit lucky secondly that Andrew Thomas jumped and pretty much just you know, spread his legs wide open. The header went right in between them. So a little bit a little bit lucky there for Sacramento. But you're right they did score in the forty ninth minute. Changes were made about thirteen minutes later, where you had Alex rolled on for JP. You had you know, Christian moving to the holding midfield. You also had Raoul come

on for Paul Rothrock. Uh so Brian made changes there. He made changes later on with little bed Vargas for Reed, where Christian then shifted again. Jackson Reagan eventually came on, Danny Mzowski eventually came on, and the Sounders kind of just you know, count it was you know, forty nervy minutes where there were periods where Seattle controlled and you could see the possession, you could see, you know, all right, it feels like we're building towards

a third that never came. But really it was you know, chance here and there for Sacramento that you know, whether it was a Thomas you know, stepping up or a Yamar stepping up and getting the middle, it was these little moments where Seattle had to make big plays and they did it every

occasion, and they did. And look, Sacramento wasn't having like like Steve Zachowheny said, they're not having waves and waves and waves except for maybe the last two three minutes when they're just dumping literally their goalies in the in the box as well. So they did a good job and there's a positive here, right, We're going to a semi final. We still went away with a win, even after having one of the recently one of our worst halbs

of playing. We're still going through to the semi final. And like Steve said, they didn't really have waves and so Andrew Thomas had a few saves, we made a few good tackles, a few big blocks, but that was it. And so going forward, obviously you want to bring it up. You want to say, hey, can the Sounders put together a full

ninety minutes anytimes too? That'd be great. But if you're going to get a two to one win, a two zero, or even have a three to two that we've had in the past and it's a late drama, you're taking that over an easy one one draw. That's for darn shure. Yeah, absolutely right. I'll take the nervy you know, year off my life win than the draw any day of the week. As this was a few notes here, The Sounders have won today and you get to win tomorrow.

Radio nine fifty KJI. Yeah, it's a taking care of business the US Open Cup style here on the postmatch show as the Sounders took care of business tonight in Sacramento two to one, as they are moving on to the semifinals of the US Open Cup that will be on August twenty seven or twenty eighth, hosting either LAFC or New Mexico United. More details on that to come. Well, let's get to our Emerald Queen Casino play of the match.

It was one to nothing there after an early goal and then a fantastic combination down the left side leads to a Jordan Morris goal Jordan Morris in behind by Rebaker watching goes around the goalkeeper Knox sitting with his left foot, and the Sounders go up two goals to nil. Brilliant counter attacked by the Sounders starting with Jonathan and Bell, then Read Baker Whiting in behind the back three of

Sacramento and Jordan Morris does the rest. Sound As lead two goals to nil, and the play of the match is presented by Emerald Casino, the betting capital of the Northwest. As Jordan Morris took care of business on that goal, and Callen as we get to our kind of conversation about the Toyota Man of the match. There are a few candidates in this game, you know that had really nice games. I thought, well, leading two to one, Albert Rusnak did a great job of settling this game down a number of

times. Your goal scorer is obviously a Tensia with the deflection, the Olympian getting that opener, and then Jordan in the past from Reid and John Bell. A lot of candidates here for who's the man of the match, so many and they are there. There was a lot of emotion, there's a lot of time at the end, but there were some really good performances throughout this whole game. I mean, Jordan playing a full ninety and scoring the

goal. It's a pretty incredible after the game that he put in and the shifts he put in throughout the last few weeks, Albert, as you said, being calm and collective and being able to control the midfield, control the tempo of the game. Honestly, I'm gonna throw Jonathan Bell in there too. Yeah, but what performance he had, I mean, he was fairly

very good. And then he started that second goal. What a ball, by the way, first time ball, he was bouncing a little bit, put it right into Reid's path and then the saucy outside the right audacity of a ball right into Jordan's stride and is an easy finish. So but for me, the winner, the taker that Jordan Moore's performance, continuing his run of scoring goals and and really just kind of solidifying his spot up there right

now for the Sounders as that number nine. I think you're absolutely right. It comes back to that goals change games and going up to nothing effectively. I mean, it comes down as the winner, and it really did just set the tone for being ahead to nothing. At that point, and they dominated for the last fifteen minutes of that first half. Your local toyotoa Doos are product present tonight's man of the match and that is Jordan Morris with that

goal. And again, yeah, you're right, playing all ninety minutes, it's just outstanding. So you know, we'll see where the Sounders, you know, go from here. Obviously, they have the Open Cup that's gonna be you know, really a month and a half away. I mean it's not until late August, and then the final is in i think late September, so we have a while before the US Open Cup starts back up.

But you know, the attention for the Sounders now shifts back to MLS action, and it will be a match at Austin FC coming up on Saturday. So we'll take one more break here in the postmatch show, we'll come back and we'll talk about switching the attention back to MLS and what the Sounders have coming up here over the next week. We will have more details on that head But for the Sounders coming up next, they got a month and

You also listen in Spanish language on l RA thirteen sixty and you can watch the match via MLS Season Pass on the

Apple TV app. And you know, Callen talking off the it's just, you know, it's just to have the same conversation we just had a couple of minutes ago. It's an interesting dynamic for Brian Schmitzer right now, which is of who to play in Austin because considering, you know, Jordan went ninety minutes, Albert effectively went ninety minutes. A lot of players had a lot of minutes in this game, including what is he also Jackson Reagan was

taken out for josh Atensio. So Josh Atensio played ninety minutes as well. Read Baker Whiting played eighty one minutes. A lot of guys spent a lot of minutes in this game. So it is an interesting dynamic for Brian to

figure out who is going to start in Austin. I think he's got, you know, proper management skills here to kind of go over and he's going to be in a little bit of a hole because he's thinking, and at least what I'm thinking is, Okay, you start these guys that are on fire right now, because you want to continue, You want to you want to breathe that fire a little bit more. In like an Albert Rusnak,

in a Jordan Morris, even in a Paul Rothrock, Christian Roldan. These guys are getting a lot of minutes, but they're also being very successful. But on the flip side, they've played a lot of minutes in some some good heat in a short period of time with a fair amount of travel. I think we're going to see a lot of rotation. That would be my where I'm leaning towards. But you'll find it's almost like a mixed group and you'll you'll find these guys come in off the bench a fair, fair amount.

But we just talked about it off the air that it seems that Austin has been our rotation city and the fact that you know, we played all the kids, we we've done. I think we will talk about the goal by ray. I know, I know, I know, but it's been that time where it's hot, it's the ted summer. No one wants to play in Austin right now, but it's going to happen. Uh, And I think we're gonna have a lot of rotation. I looked at this a couple of days ago, so I'm just going to google it right now.

Austin weather. All right, let's see what we have Austin. So right now in Austin, Texas, it's it's midnight in Austin, and it's still eighty one degrees on Saturday. If I look Saturday evenings, Oh, no, Saturday evening. Do you see that little insignia, it's the lightning bolt side. Oh geez, well, even more even more reason, I think, and I know it's I know it's nothing, but keey I'm saying is therefore I'm reversed jinxing in. It means it won't happen for me. It's

even more reason to to start the rotation. Yeah, you start the rotation because you get these guys who are starters, who have played a lot of minutes, and you're going to have them and possibly play twenty minutes and sit down for another hour because of lightning strikes. I mean, perhaps there are there are those capabilities, and you gotta think about guy's legs and injuries and what goes forward throughout this season. The reality is that factors in. It

does everything, factors in. Everything factors in, and it's I know we're on this great run right now as a team, but you have to take care of these players for the long run. You cannot think shorts and that a lot of teams that have these same lineups in and out, whether it's a three game week, whether you have a weekend off doesn't matter. Whenever they have that towards September October, they are dead and we don't want to be that. And so I know it's been successful, but we need to

be smart as well. We do. And it'll still be a ninety one degrees at kickoff for that game. So you're looking at the bench from the Sounders today of guys like Alex rolled On, you know he can play, you know, as a right back, maybe even a left back sometimes Obed Vargas, Danny Mazowski, Rollri Diez, Jackson, reg and a lot of players. And you had guys come off, you know, early in the second half like a JP as well as a Paul Rothrock, all very good

candidates to start. And it's also, again we mentioned this earlier, it's a Tuesday Saturday, not a Wednesday Saturday, so a little bit good there. So there's choices for Brian, but full confidence that Brian Spencer can make those correct choices to get a result. And you know, for the Sounders who haven't lost in a while, thirteen points in the last five games in MLS action, just trying to keep that going. And you're right, you know, Austin is a place where this team has rotated. We think back

to twenty twenty one or twenty two. I think it was twenty one. It was twenty one, So that was the game where we started a MLS record five teenagers and they did an exceptional job. And then in the second half you were part of one of the great moments in recent Sounders history. Looking back, I remember watching the video and the guy I was attempting to

play the ball too. I believe it was actually overd Parks, which is hilarious, but he was not on the screen yet, so I saw him in the cord of my eye and I was like, oh, he'll get there. He's a kid. So I tried to hit it outside the foot down the line, towards the corner, and it bounces off some defender's knee and goes right to Raoul and Rowell. Obviously everyone knows that in the least five yards. Yeah, chips it over the goalie. The fact that I

don't get an assists that was probably, I mean a little disappointing. I need to have some conversations on me here. You didn't understand that I was trying to do a bounce past, but no, it was. It was hilarious because I got a lot of crap like where are you playing that? If you watch the video, it's like, where are you playing that? Was? I promise you someone's there, and if they weren't, they would have maybe gotten there. I don't know. I don't know. Hey,

it worked out in the end exactly. It's like tonight. It all works out in the end, no matter how much nerves, no, no matter what happens, that was a Sounders win. Tonight was a Sounders win. We hope Saturday will be a Sounders win as they're back in Austin. But that'll do it for our broadcast tonight here for the US Open Cup quarterfinal. I want to think everybody involved. Metchell Blah here in studio A Kiley Dunning,
