Welcome to the Sounders FC pre match show presented by Provident Swedish tonight from the Emerald Queen Casino Bitch at Luminfield, your Seattle Sounders FC faced Vancouver WHITECAPSFC. The Providence Swedish premat show starts now well. One of the biggest tests of the early part of the twenty twenty four season is here for your Seattle Sounders at one, three and three, sitting at twelfth place in the Western Conference.
Tonight from Luminfield, the Ray Green are hosting second place Vancouver Whitecaps FC, who are often one of their best starts in club history and are looking to continue it here tonight in Seattle. So welcome into a Sounders FC pre match show presented by Provident Swedish official healthcare partner of Seattle Sounders FC. Jackson Felt's alongside the birthday Boy, Brad Evans, Happy birthday Brad, as well
as Pete Fewing. We will be handing things off later on in about a half hour to Danny Jackson, Steve Zachwani and the new mama down on the sideline, Michelle Ludko. Great to have Michelle back on the sideline today. The three of them will be here just about a half hour for kickoff of Sounders and Vancouver white Caps. But gentlemen, we kind of intro tonight by looking back a little bit, and Brad, I think we all knew that
the Sounders were flat last week against Dallas. Yes, great defensively, we got another clean sheet for Steph and Fry, but that offense that we scow saw score five goals against Vancouver unable to get in the back of the net against Dallas. So how do we rEFInd what we found against Montreal and not see what we did against Dallas. Well, it's about finishing your chances at
the end of the day. And we watched that Dallas game and we called it and there were opportunities there for the Sounders that they should have put the ball in the back of the net. So tonight you're at home, you're against the arrival. Now it's just about that focus, concentration. It's that extra little ten percent that isn't physical. The Sounders team hasn't been beaten physically this season. They've been physically up to the challenge. They've held teams.
You know, once again probably going to be one of the lowest goals against average in the league and now can you put the ball in the back of the net. And all that time is that that is just concentration and focus, and I think that the guys will be hungry and leaving that game last week getting on the airplane disappointed, right two points dropped there. They didn't really have to fight for much. It was a second rate squad from Dallas. So now it's about, hey, you're at home. We need that
extra ten percent from every player on the field. I think that's it. I think it's the home field advantage today because the players are starting to get a little disappointed with themselves as well. There's a little bit of an embarrassment factor that they're not putting teams away that they should put away. Energy was real good at practice yesterday. Guys were up, finishing was pretty clinical. But they know that, hey, they're not moving up the table where they
would like to be. They put themselves in a bit of a hole and they know they can do a lot better. So the coach Schmetzer has putting some pressure on some individual guys. He's gone to Riznak and say, look, Nico's gone, You're not enough to look over your shoulder. So now it's your team. So now you've got to lead the attack and get something. And we know Jordan Morris is chomping at the bit. You know, it's your birthday. Today is Jordan Morris's adds last day on the sideline as
the team doc. And it's funny what fires you up. But they have a great rope port and so I think he'd love nothing more than to you know, score and look at his father on that one. So there's their
home and they've got to take advantage of this opportunity. And they're playing against a very good Vancouver team that Hey, they're number two in the West right now and scoring a lot of goals and they have a good goal differential, so they can't they are not gonna look pat home game against a very good appointment opponent on the in the Western Conference and they can move up the ladder
a bit. They got to get it done today. Well, we'll talk a lot about the Vancouver white Caps coming up in the next segment of the pre match show, because this is a team, as P mentioned, second place in the West. They are riding high right now, but they are coming off a loss, so we will see if that adds a little bit
of motivation for them to get back in the win. Calum tonight here in Seattle, between this Cascadia Cup match between the Sounders and white Caps, let's start breaking it down and let's see what Brian Spencer has for his choices on the field tonight. Let's get to the start the Delta, starting eleven for the Seattle Sanders peat. I think it's Brian Schmitzer's, you know, ideal lineup. He'd like the Levega to be in there for sure, but that's
not gonna happen tonight. But it's a four two three one frying goal. As your captain, Alex Roldon, you're right back, Gomez Androtti, Jackson Reagan. Your center backs knew who your left back. JP makes his start, which is great. Next to him Obed Vargas on the right hand side, it's Christian rold On. On the left side, Jordan Morris and then Albert Rusnik will sit right underneath Raoul Ruie Diaz. And before we break down Seattle's choices and what they put out today, Brett Brad, what are we
seeing from Vancouver side tonight? Yeah, so you're gonna see taka Oka starting between the pipes, Vesselnovich, black Men, Utvik shop, Kubas, Ahmed Vite out of Kube, white up top with Gold just underneath him. The Scottish MESSI yeah, exactly. I wonder how MESSI feels about that. I mean, Ryan Gold is a great player. He brings a lot of quality to you know, that part of the field. He's a great player.
What's messing? I mean he is the great time. Oh yeah, but it'll look like a three four to three as they attack, and so the just high flying attack and they can score from anywhere. So this is a dangerous starting eleven for Vancouver. It absolutely is. But let's get back to Seattle quickly. The bench includes Tavier Ariaga, Josh Atencio, Jonathan Bell, Danny Mazowski, Leo Chu, Andrew Thomas, Cody Baker, Danny Leaba and
Dylan TeVeS. You did not hear the name Pedro de la Vega, as Pete mentioned so quickly on the Providence, Swedish teen health report read Baker whiting out with a hamstring, Brodila Rodriguez out with a hamstring, and then Pedro de la Vega bad news on him. He's still dealing with a hamstring, but earlier this week he suffered a new lower hamstring injury on the same leg,
so it's the same hamstring. But as Brian Schmitzer said on KJR just yesterday to Softy and Dick Fane, he said, it's just about five centimeters lower than the previous hamstring injury. So Pedro's dealing that we'll get hopefully a new timeline next week to see Pedro dal l Vega. But such an expensive and and you know, highly acclaimed signing and such enthusiasm for him to finally, you know, get back from these hamstrings, and unfortunately he will be
out for a little bit longer he is out tonight. Today's team Hell the four percent of by Providence, Swedish official healthcare partner of Sounders f seen. But switching back the attention to what the Sounders are doing tonight, Brad, It's the headline for me is it's great to have JP back out there, dual Paulo back in the defensive midfield. He can do so much for this
team. Yeah. Look, and anytime you're an opponent and you will go away from home and a player has been out for a long time, the team maybe hasn't picked up the results one that you're gonna play against, and then all of a sudden you go into the locker room, the names are written on the board, and all of a sudden you see that you're facing a guy like JP. It changes the whole mindset of the team that you're gonna be playing against, right because he adds so much in the middle of
the park. And it's not just he's so good, it's his presence, it's his experience, it's it's the way that he's an outlet for this team. So we've got to see him for a couple of minutes. The past two games, the Sounders have done well managing him. He obviously feels healthy,
feels fit enough, his numbers are good. So now he's in the starting lineup in a big, big game, and I think you'll see a new JP be revitalized, get out there, and what I want to see from him is just connecting his passes and being that conduit from back to front. Allow now Obed to go to go, because I think oftentimes Oben and Nintensio tend to both go at the same time. There's not too much cover. JP will really be suited if they're going to play three up top with
Vancouver, just sit and cover our back four. That's what you have to have out of your you know, ultimately your best number six. Yeah, it's funny as you were describing that, I thought at Casey Keller. When you look at Casey Keller and goal, he's not a really big guy, but his presence in goal takes up a lot of space and you got a lot of confidence when you know he's out there. JP in the middle of the park gives you that same confidence, right, I would like to see
from him a few change the point of attack. Diagonal balls find Jordan Morris when you're on the right side in the middle of the park, ping it to the left side up and over, or ping it to him so that he could take someone on and do the same for Christian Boldon. So the funny thing about that is if you go out to practice, you watch Josh, you watch Obed. They can hit that ball no problem. They're probably
actually stronger than JP is. But it's the awareness on the field of wins to do it and how to do it, and that's what he brings into the attack and springing guys forward that the youngsters just haven't gotten their bag or they just don't feel confident enough to maybe mishit one or two because I think they might get pulled out of the lineup right, So playing pretty safe. So JP does add that different dynamic and they look forward. They know when
JP is on the right side, that Jordan Morris is always available. They know that they can hit that that Jordan knows, Christian knows, Alex knows, right, knew who knows that he can ping that ball and change its content. It's coming exactly, yeah, really quick. Before we take a break, I also wanted to talk about the situation a left back. You knew who gets the start again tonight two games ago the five nothing went against the Montreal We saw, I knew who I take you know had to go
out. In the first ten minutes of the game. Cody Baker comes in. Cody Baker looks great coming on that left side, and he does a lot for the attack, gets up the field. I obviously had the assistant San Jose, and I'm wondering, just maybe thinking out loud, you know, how close is that competition at left back? Do you think, Brad?
Yeah, I don't think it's that close just yet. From from an outsider's perspective, you know, when you're not getting results, it's easy to say, Okay, bring new Who off and implement another player, But it's new Who's position to lose, and you're going to have to see a string of four or five and six games of this team maybe losing or conceding a number of goals. I don't think that just bringing in another left back is going to add so much on the attack that it's going to completely change the
Sounders for the rest of the season. I think it's a matter of getting new Who in better positions on the field or really just relying on Alex and playing with a back three going forward. The good news is it's competition. Yeah, and I understand your point, and we could agree with it. Cody Baker's pushing and that at one point we had a left back and a right back in Alex and Newho and now we've got a little bit more competition.
That's a very good thing. It keeps everybody sharp, keeps everybody motivated to stay on the field. So Cody Baker's pushing and that's good. That knew who's got the spot and he's but he's got to step up. As we said at the very beginning, all the players are feeling that today that after the zero zero in Dallas home against a very good team, everybody's going
to do their job tonight and do it well and execute well. It's the Pete Carroll philosophy, right, competition, competition, competition, and that you know, cream and the croppol rise to the top and we get the best of the best. So hopefully, as do who sees Cody Baker maybe a little bit on his heels, he ops his performance and we see a good game out of him tonight, as well as everybody else on this team.
Facing a very very good Vancouver white Caps squad, which we'll get into here in just a minute, but we are just about thirty minutes away from kick here an Emerald Creek Casino pitch at Loomingfield. Today's countdown to Kickoff is presented by Emerald Creek Casino, the entertainment capital of the Northwest. It's like a break, we'll come back and talk about these Vancouver white Caps. There is a lot to discuss. They are having an excellent start to the season.

It was cold and blustery and windy and all those things. It is still a little bit chilly and a little bit windy, but the sun has popped out here at Luminfield. We'll see how the weather changes here. We know that today it has been very much a ever changing
weather day here at Seattle. We'll see what happens over the next couple hours. But as time for today's sharp Vision upon at Alec taking a look at the visiting Vancouver Whitecaps. Today's upon Alec is presented by Sharp Vision Modern lascon Lens, the official basic provider of Sounders FC. This Vancouver team, as we mentioned, is very good four two and one, second place in the
Western Conference with thirteen points. They have wins over San Jose dall Us Hurland in Toronto, but as you mentioned, they are coming off a loss at home last weekend into the La Galaxy. Fifteen goals scored, nine goals conceded, which is just two more than Seattle seven, by the way, which leads at the Western Conference. Brad, we talked about Ryan Gold, we talked about Brian White. Those two are going to be a handle today,
as will this entire quality team coming to town. Yeah, I think Vancouver is gonna it's a different Vancouver than years past. This team has an identity, right. It's the longest ten year at coach I think that Vancouver's had since joining Major League Soccer. So that says a lot about what the coach means to the team an organization as well. He's been given the opportunity to
create something. You know. We talked to Andy Rose. Andy Rose was there as a player and he told us that it used to be a stopover for guys that are coming here and trying to get to other bigger clubs. But somehow they've created something special there. They've got a great facility, it's a great city, and now they've put together a good group of players that like and it's a you know, back in maybe twenty twelve is the last time I can remember when Lava used to play there. Twenty eleven, Vancouver
really felt like a tough team. And so it's one that you want to win a rivalry. You don't just want Portland and Seattle. You want to continue that with three teams and make it big Cascadia cups on the line. There's a lot on the line tonight for the Sounders club. And yes, I think this team actually is Their identity is Brian White, and it is Ryan Gold. Brian Whites is a dominant big striker, the prototypical former yesteryear
MLS striker right that just battles and sometimes you ask him. Mike Casito is his agent, and he's like, I don't know how I'm doing it. I don't know how I'm doing it. He'll tell Mike that, and Mike's just like, hey, just keep going, man, whatever you're doing is working. So think, don't think, just play the game. And Ryan Gould is on the other side of that where he's a thinker. He controls
tempo. He's a tactician on the field. So when you have two guys like that, it's a great combo and then the rest are just there to carry the piano. Well cooled up front. Reminds me of King when he was at La Galaxy. He's got that grit in that bite, and you're right, and he's smart. He's a lefty, he's not a right footed player, but he's tireless. He's got that Scottish grit in him. And to your point about the coach, I agree. It's funny you say that
it was twenty twelve. That's twelve years ago. That this team was a worry for a Seattle Sounders team. But I like their coach, Vanny Startiniz. He's done a good job. He's he's a players coach. The players know that he's going to back him. He's a little bit quirky, he's intense and a little bit odd. Yes, he's a little intense, little bit odd. He's come out publicly and said I'm a socialist, right and so, which is interesting. You know that we're all allowed to everyone views
on that. But the players, I think, know that he has their back and quirky is a good word. But he's he wants to win and they've been able to bounce One of the things they've done really well is bounce back after a loss. So that's not the good news for Seattle today. So but yeah, White and Gold up front, they've been really really good and they've gotten rid of players that he's you're right, Brett. He's been able to mold the team as he wants to have it. When you come
in there and you're there for a season half a season. They've turned over a ton of coaches. We've had Brian that's her and and Ziggie Schmid over the same amount of time. Yeah, well, I mean Danny Sartini, good job this. See he just needs to watch what he says a postmatch press conferences. That's the only that's the only advice I would give to to
Vania the suspension that was cut down after and it deserves suspension indeed. But this Vancouver white Caps team very very good raposos on the bench as well. Gotta watch for Pedro Vite who scored against Seattle last year. And then I'll then you mentioned Taco Oka and goal the game up in Vancouver last year, the three two win for the Sounders. He sent a ball almost seventy five yards, which I believe I want to see he was either Gold or White
who caught it on their foot put it past. I want to say it was Andrew, No was it was? It was Stephan Cleveland in that game. It was instead he put it past step In Cleveland. So Taco Oka with his long balls can change a game. So got to watch for that as well as Stephan friesaid he can kick it a county mile and that is something to watch today for your Sounders. Good stuff there on our sharp vision opponent, Aleck. But let's get to our Western Washington Honda Dealers players to
watch and find out who will draw. I have good today, Brad, Who do you got driving good today for the Sounders? Well, we hope it's Jackson Reagan. This is I know. Chad Marshall loved the big physical battle whenever we played against Fernando Addi. That was where he excelled, right,
And I think you'll see that tonight with Jackson. He's gonna have his hands full with Brian White up top, two big bodies battling around, and Jackson's gonna have to put his head in the places that he normally doesn't because Brian doesn't care if his head falls off, if he gets fifteen stitches. All he cares about is putting the ball in the back of the net. So he's gonna have to be brave tonight. That's my word for Jackson. You gotta be brave and you got to be willing to put your body on
the line against a guy like Brian White. It's a great test for him. Two handfuls to deal with there. JP. For me, I want to see Joel Paula do what Brad said and just have his presence connect passes, take over the midfield, win the midfield lead in the midfield. As I said, I'd love to see some of those good diagonal balls to spring our wing play. And you know, two years ago before the ACL, he was dangerous from the edge of the box. I'd love to see that
come back to his game as well. You know, players find motivation in a lot of different things. I'm sure Brad you know that. And with Jordan Morris when his son was born THEO the first game back, he scores a goal right well tonight, his father, longtime chief medical officer and team orthopedic surgeon, doctor Michael Morris, announced his retirement this week. And doctor Morris has been working with this team since the days in the us CL and
this will be his last game with the Seattle Sounders. And I gotta feeling Jordan's gonna, you know, just like he did after a song on board, He's gonna feel that motivation. I think Jordan Morris is gonna do something special tonight, at least one goal and hopefully guiding a Sounders win. And that's who we think will drive a good performance tonight for your Sounders. And now is the time to drive a Honda, don't wait. Stop by your
local Western Washington Honda dealer today and drive good. Speaking of Jordan Morris, We're gonna hear from Jordan Morris with Michelle Luka. Medi's prematch show Seattle Sounders Vancouver Whitecaps FC from alumin Field. We'll mentioned that last segment, my player to watch is Jordan Morris. It's here from Jeorde Morris. We mentioned how his his father, doctor Michael Morris, the longtime chief medical officer of the Sounders. This is his last game after retiring. Michelle Ludka, our sideline reporter, who's back here tonight. Great to have Michelle back. Michelle was able to catch up with Jordan Morris before tonight's game
Vancouver. Last time you guys were back on the field, you guys set up four goals, clean sheet. Now you've got Vancouver again at home. What do we need to see? Happened to get the same kind of resolves? Yeah, similar to Montreal game. Just come out with intensity, try to get on that early when we scored a couple of early goals in the first half, so that was important. So I think if we can come out just try to have that same intense that we did, press him hard
and you know, try to score an early goal. It'll be obviously too growth special nights here, not only for the Sounders return home. It's tod night celebrating you guys, was really pership with the Orcas, but a really special relationship for you. And that it will be your father's last game on the bench as a team doctor. You've talked about it before, being able to join your hometown club, but to be sure you personally being able to
play for the club that your your dad works for. What is that done for your's father's son relationships. Yeah, I mean it's been great. It's a really unique saying, an opportunity that not many people get an experience to have a dad behind the scenes and like a professional sports setting like like this. It's been been really cool. It's been, you know, a lot of fun. He's worked so hard and I'm super proud of him. He's done done so much for this club and for me. Obviously, I wouldn't
be here without without him. So it's bad it's his last game. It's gonna be weird not having him on the sideline and in the locker room anymore. But you know, it's I've been super lucky to have that opportunity, I'm sure for him, it's been fun to be on the sidelines for for this, you know, this part of my professional career, and yeah, it's always it's pretty cool to see him after game, te him before games,
see him on the sideline. You know, it's just been a really special, special opportunity, special experience that I'm really really grateful for and I'm gonna miss having them around. And now full grandpa mode for him, I'm assuming. Yeah, so has he shared any of his plans of how he's going to be spoiling the grandkids. We're kind of really embracing that new role. I'm sure that's where his energy is going to go for sure. My
and my brother had a baby as well a month behind. My wife and I actually have two grandkids now, and I think that's, yeah, where a lot of his energy and effort it's going to go is dispoiling them, so pretty much it's great. Seattle leads that all time series seventy three fifty two to twenty six. Now just in MLS thirty five games between these two clubs since Vancouver joined the league in twenty eleven, Seattle leads that series seventeen nine and nine,
most recently last October, a zero zero draw. Let's get in to keys to the match, Brad, what are you looking for tonight's Well, you talked about motivation earlier and what's going to motivate these guys? Anytime I brought the guys in before the game to the huddle, I asked them just pick something to play for tonight. I don't care if you're playing for money, for your family, for doctor Morris, whatever it is. Find something
that you can think about during the game that's going to motivate you. And I think that's what this team needs just to get over the humpuses. Like I said, that little extra ten percent. And this is a team that you know, the squad didn't lose the Vancouver until last year. The previous time was twenty seventeen. So it's here for the Sounders to take now. You've just got to take advantage of that history. Yeah, that motivation. I think the crowd, Brian Spetzer wants to see it. The guys win
for the crowd. I think the guys feel the same as well. So I'd love to see the wings get very involved. I'd love to see if Alex or Christian are crossing that Jordan's on the other end of it and vice versa. If it's coming from the left, Let's get the wing players on the end of those crosses as well as Ruy Diaz and Albert inside the box.
Let's get numbers through the bucks. Jordan Morris's goal against Montreal and Alex roldonscoal against Montreal, it's guys getting through the box, getting to the near post, making those runs. So movement, change the point of attack, and then don't give anything up. You've got two potent forwards for Vancouver. We got to shut him down, don't let him play. And Brad going
back to you the point on the motivation too. I mean, I remember back to the loss in Portland last year where Brian said after the game just didn't feel like it was a rivalry game to some people. And I feel like in this sense Seattle Vancouvere, Yes, you know, Sounders fans can look at the white Caps and almost think, you know, it's almost like the Washington Huskies to Washington State Cougars. It's you know, when they do
nice, it's all niceties. Right tonight in this environment, first game of the Cascadia c you have to feel like it's a rivalry to yes, tonight, it's about the first tackle and who used to lead the charge was azsi Alonzo. And it usually didn't matter what team we played against, but especially rivalry games. That's a guy who came here not knowing about the rivalries. But as soon as twenty eleven, came around that came into the league. The first tackle that he laid in the game was like, hey, you're
in it. You're in it for the long haul. And that's why this team has been so good against Vancouver in recent years. All you talk about, you know, in Forster and Ozzie Alonzo, it straight night to have an enforcer and jil Polo back tonight beats. Yeah. Let's hope he takes total control of this game, get his touches, get his rhythm early, ping that ball around and then you know, one of the things that you don't pick up with him, he picks off a lot of entry passes.
He's got to do that today with Ballston to Golden and to white If he can pick those balls off and deny the service so they can't get started, that's a key for us as well. We'll be back for the halftime show, but we'll hand things off. It'll be Danny Jackson, Steve Zachawani, Michelle Ludcat back on the sideline. The three of them will have the first minute, first forty five minutes Sounders white Caps here from lew And Field.

Seattle Sounders FC. Now time for Sounders FC Sucker. Good evening everyone, Welcome to EQC Pitch at Lumen Field for the first Cascadia game of the season between your Sounders and the Vancouver Whitecaps. Vancouver have started the season on fire, leading the Western Conference before a three to one what lost last week against the La Galaxy. For a team that has struggled to find an identity and
success over the years. Head coach Vanni Sartini has instilled a new level of confidence and grit, and with an away record of two wins from two games, they are going to be a stubborn foe for Brian Schmetz's men. For the Sounders, they have been riddled with injuries and void of results in the opening weeks of the season, but four points from their last two games with
two clean sheets has put the smile back on everyone's faces. With a return of enigmatic stars such as Albert Ruzneck and Jao Paolo, there is much to look forward to. With both clubs celebrating their historic fiftieth anniversary and this being the one hundred and fifty second game of this great rivalry, the stage is set for a Sounders win. My name is Danny Jackson alongside four Roomers Sounders winger Steve zach Kuani for the call tonight. So before we get to see
for his initial thoughts, let's get you the delta. Starting eleven for your Sounders and one significant change for Brian Schmetzer. Stefan Fryan Gole a back fourth roll, don Yemar Reagan and Knu who Ohbed Vargas plays alongside the returning Shao Paolo to the starting lineup in the center of the park, Christian rolled In on the right, Albert Rozneck in the ten, Jordan Morris on the left and ral ruydiez As your number nine for Vancouver. Tachio Quinn goal in a
three four to three good vic Vesseillonovich and Blackman in the back. I met Kubas Shop and Vite in the middle of the park and then the attacking three of gold White and Addie Cugby. So, Steve, you've played in these games before, what do the Sounders have to do Tonight's kind of get through the initial onslaught of what Vancouver will inevit to bring and get a win tonight. Yeah, I think even more when you're in a rivalry game at derby
game, that first fifteen to twenty minutes very important. You want to get the fans on side, make a fast start. They seem to be an excellent voice already, but it's the white Caps scene that's been a very good start to the season. So take them out of their game, do not
allow that team to get comfortable and play their style. So in the first fifteen minutes, can the sound Has play the game in the Vancouver defensive half, really put them under pressure and invest case scenario, get a goal or two to kick the game off, or referee Ramy Tuschen has the ball in his hand. Just organizing two teams. The Sounders in their anniversary kit green
shirts with blue pin stripes, light blue shirts and white socks. They're attacking the goal to our left, to the north and then Vancouver in all navy blue. Tonight there'll be attacking the south end to start the night two hour right. Sounders gonna have a different challenge tonight than year's past. This is the greatest difference between the two teams. Hoover in second coming in tonight Sounders in twelfth position. Not until twenty fifteen where the Sounders we're in fifth and
Vancouver in first, has a been a bigger gap. Does Vancouver get the game going? Launch it from the right side of Udvic to the left, black one just touching it inside, picked up by Vargas for his first touch. We'll see the influence of Jao Paolo and what he can Bringean Schmittz has
talked about just expectation setting since first start since pre season. So as the ball gets down the left hand side, Nude looking to overlap Jordan Morris left corner of the box, he plays the ball to Nude, drives the ball across the six, goes over the end line for a goalkick for Vancouver, and the first time this evening and the first time this season, we're gonna throw it down to Michelle Ludker. And first of all, Michelle, big
congratulations on the addition to your wonderful family and welcome back, Oh Danny, thank you so much. I'm happy to say that I have the newest and youngest Saunders fan in my household now and she's excited and ready to see the Sounders get a win here tonight against Vancouver. And it's a dangerous Vancouver squad that we're up against tonight. Branchmeinster telling us in our production meeting that it was actually the most dangerous Vancouver squad that they have seen in a while,
and that is all credit to coach Nanny Sentini's coaching style. He's made this group believe in themselves and he says that's the first time it's happened that he can imagine and remember in franchise history. Well thanks Michelle. Yes, four wins on the season already you mentioned in the opener, two wins out of two away from home three one loss last week against LA Galaxy up in Vancouver took them off top spot, pushed them into second. LA Galaxy lead frog
them and they take currently top spot in the Western Conference. As Jackson, Reagan launched it long down the line this near side the left, Rude Yes springs up, wins the ball, but it falls at the feet of Gold, who rolls it towards the end line. Good tackle by knew her.
It's gonna be an early cornic cake for Vancouver and Steve. You expect energy as you mentioned his first fifteen minutes, but certainly the way that Vancouver played, they've got some attacking threat in Gold who's taken the corner kick and obviously White. And they will not come here and sit back. You know, some teams come here, sit back. See when the game happened, Vancouver whip in the front foot as much as possible to will be two teams went
tol to top. Here's gold left arm up's being insering it from this near sight the right with his left foot goes in punch by Seth fran Frank, good solid punch as I think it's Vesselonovitch maybe who went down under the challenge, and this might be the first test of the new rules. No, he jumps back up. I think it was oddfig actually and Steve, we're gonna try and explain these new rules that have been imparted in the seventh week
of the MLS season, one of them being obviously an injury. The referee is going to go across the injured player as he did. He's gonna ask if he needs some assistance. If he does, and the training staff come on. Whatever that happens. Once he goes off, he has to wait two minutes before going back on. Yeah, it's definitely gonna be a change. And I was down on the pitch in the warm up and the refereeing group came over to branch mets up and they maybe spoke for five, six,
seven minutes just about that. So for the referees, for the coaches and your learning curve for us and lads in the game for the fans. So I do think these changes are positive. Wills be the game up, but definitely will be a different and a learning curve. Fargas get the ball up, got clicked on his heels, no foul given by the referee.
Ball finds itself the foot of Udvik coming in from Norway experience defender central defender playing in a three tonight alongside Vessel Lanovitch, the captain of this team. As the ball gets kind of hooked clear by Yemar finds the foot of Jiao Palo just skips by vite little clip around the corner to Christian Roldan to his brother Alex far side the right. Alex looks to shift the ball from right
to left. He does very well find the chest of Jordan Morris. This comes inside his right foot as it crosses the middle of the park, plays its square to roll down to JP providing support in the right inside fins. Christy roll down in the box, look deflection and attack Yoka down to his left on his near post. Manages to get that deflight to cross into his hands with good early pressure from the sounder Steve exact one here. That's very
good football matter sounders. The second good attack we've seen early in his opening minutes, where the first one left hand side we knew who was on the overlap on that time, with actually charl Parlock making the overlap there for Alex Rodan great little combination between the two road Down brothers. In the end across from Christian takes a little deflection, Keeper gets uncomfortably by the Sounders. It's free flowing, it's interchanging, and this is when this team looks at their
best. You have your position to start in, but as the attack unfolds, can you pop up in different spots to make it half of the defending team to read. So both teams playing very free today and it's taping up to be a very nice open game. Jackson Reagan leg it back to Stephan
right decked out in all blue. I believe it's his birthday today, celebrates it with a certain brad Evans. Professor Lenovich, under the pressure of Jordan Morris, plays it back to Udvik on the right hand side, right in front of Annie Sartina, who's was it back in the last year's had a few choice works, he suspended, that suspension got taken down. Now it's
back on the sidelines guiding his team that really believed and Steve. It feels like Zartini's personality kind of bleeds into his team that belief, that kind stand grit, that desire to go fight for everything, and so far, so good this year. And that's what it seems that can allude to Michelle's point in a confitional branch, Schmetza, it's he's imparted to the whole team.
This team seems to believe. Yes, take nothing away from what he's doing tactically setting his team up well, but a part of football also, he's just believing the mental side. Went into every game thinking we have a chance if for one down a wonder up and played the same way. And I think you can definitely see the difference made in Vancouver and it seems to have a group of players that have put into a style, pot into him as a coach, and you've seen the results in a pitch. Vancouver ball right
corner of their box goes back to tach Yoca in the goal. He was a MLS Goalkeeper of the Year candidate last year. Great first season for them. Stephany mentioned in one of his interviews this week he can hit the ball a mile and a half from goalkicks and out of his hands. We saw that in warm ups, extremely accurate from over the ground, a half folly as well from his hands as Udvik has the ball right side, a little bit of pressure from sound as. Good early pace to this game of the
Blackman. The experienced mls vet clips it forward Lottle cushion headed by Jackson Reagan. Vancouver pick it up. It's near side with Addie Cookby comes into the starting lineup tonight flicker around the corner by shot played by Jackson Reagan. Little cushion headed by Jordan Morris, well played which al Paolo Morris has it right in front of the sounder's bench. A little bit of space down the left outside of the right foot. Good ball down the line to Ruy Diaz.
He picks it up, trying to shift past Vesilonovitch. It was the turf that court. His heels goes down to the deck and Vesselonovitch is able to clean things up and Vancouver come away with it. But it's very good to see the sound as every time they win the board and then defense at half
the first look is forward and Raoul just gets unlucky there. You're trying to turn that the fender inside out, losing his footing a little bit, and in the end just falling over right towards the end line, just crossed it along the six. Easy for Stephan Fry looking for option JP just a couple
of yards away, asking for the ball. Stephan Fry just pushes him away, goes to Knu who And I think the word that was used both against Montreal was dynamic and obviously it was used as well, but slightly negative way for Dallas that the team wasn't quite as dynamic. And certainly Cody Baker we talked about him. JP comes into the line for Atensio Knew who retains his
position, but Cody Baker is knocking on that door. You knocking at that door, and it's also you know, not long to come back hopefully for Redbaker Whiting as well. So I think in a very top team UNI competition, and the best case scenario is having two players at similar levels for every
position. That's very hard to achieve in MLS. But as sound as this news been MLS's best caliber player for a few seasons now, But you always want to push players, players to get complacent, and I think branch Messer as a coach has to always think of ways to tweak the team to ignite the team, and we saw last week that there's gonna be times that games like in Dallas, where it's not quite working, you have to have options
beyond your preferred eleven. All giving away by Yama on the switch of play from the rights that's near side, the left skips past Knew who's going to be a thrown for Utvic for Vancouver, standing right in front of Brian Schmitzer. He has both hands in his pockets, surveying the field and his team. We'll slipped by Vessel Andovitch off the Chester. Ruy Diaz inside Vancouver half field, good ball to split midfield in the back four plays the ball into
roll down flick with the outside of the foot far side the right. Alex rolled on back to his brother Christian all overlapping run by Vargas should roll down twice to find him, goes to the deck, wins the ball, but Vancouver come away with Ahmed striding for those long legs of his flecks the ball to Gold, who's been a revelation since coming into this league. So he approaches thirty goals and thirty assists for Vancouver, the first player in Vancouver's history
to do that. The shop has it right corner of the box, chased down by New towards the end line. Good tackle by New who wall's over for a throwing five yards from the corner flag that's near side the right. This game has a nice, amazing open field to its honestly as complete contrast to the game in Dallas last weekend, and I think this is credit to both teams, both teams coming out here. Yes, it's a darby game
of ravaliye game. Sometimes those can even be cagy, but we're setting up to see a very open game where almost two heavyweight boxes given as good as they've got him. So that's what you've got to say. Boss is probably pretty happy. We've hardly started a game. Rooking Dagson the attack for the wack up right now, with the chance to get a one into the box, Houdvig with the long throat bounce inside the box, not what you want for the Sounders, but eventually cleared by the left foot of Yama, goes
all the way back to Kubas inside the Vancouver goal. The feisty central midfield player three yellow carts in his last three games, one yellow away from a suspension. He's got a little bit of bite and grit that Vancouver have been relied on. It's now a couple of Sounders games last year through both injury and suspension. Back in the lineup this season and really anchoring that central area
of the field. Dvik takes a step forward this right channel, plays the board to the foot of Shops. Pressure by Vargas, finds out a KooKoo skips by New. Little combination with White got square to Vita to Gold. Good play by Vancouver left corner of the box to Armed drops his shoulder to Vta is left foot punched away by step and Fry. Unfortunately for the sound as that found the food of New then shit cleared out for a throwing and
that's the best bit of football team the whole game. And that's what the white Caps can do from the right hand side. Great build up there to Gooby gets a boat and it finds Ryan Gold. There's a fantastic lovely waiting past one touch and then the end Stephen Fry gets a strong hand to that shot. But there's a warning sign for the sound is there this white Caps team in and around the box. Lots of intricate passing and it's the spots that goal takes up, you do have to man mark him, but someone
has to always be aware where he is. He's gonna pop up behind your midfield but in front of your center backs, and it's that sweet spot kind of nine and a half falls nine position where he's right bery Brian White, but not all the way up, and the sounders have to ask either Vargas, Joe Paulo or at times one of the center halfs to step up and take that space away, because if you're allow him to get comfortable in that
half space, he can make things happen as he just did. Then it certainly has the freedom that appears to roam a little bit like a certain Nico Ladera had for so many years. Here just find himself pockets of space and then the three four three that's so clearly defined as we look up from our position down on the field. It's more zonal marking, zonal positioning than any kind of man to man situation. Allows a little bit of freedom, but
also some responsibility for the players to take care of their area. Very different than that San Jose A team couple of years back, when it was man for man all over the field. That was that was. I think whoever put on Jordan Morris that day. When it's you sports seven, six or seven, you gotta go back to the drawing board after that. Yep, I remember that girl clearly picked it up on the halfway and this near sight went inside it just kind of the parting of the red sea, just straight
down the middle, drove into the box, easy finish. Was the first goal of that seven gold night Jordan Morris. That man heads the ball forward, picked up by Rosnette but then cleared by Vancouver, finds the foot of that man Gold, who skips by a bit of a clumsy challenge by Yam, I'm stumbling of his feet. Gold back up to his feet, finds the ball, plays the ball into Kubas halfway line. Sounders just backing off five yards into their half of the field, their line of confrontation, just
letting Vancouver have it. The ball goes into White steps over the ball. Sounders come away with it with Vargas quick ball into the rolled on and certainly the pace of the game, the pace of the pass is there tonight. Certainly feel the energy from the crowd is going onto the field. Players understand that this Cascadia game's got a little bit more spized this year than years past.
And you mentioned the Steve when Vancouver came in, and yes they haven't won in ten games here against the Sounders, but this year is feels like it's gonna be a little bit different. It does, and it's a team where you know, sometimes team get up to a hot start and if kind of it's not realistic to what they actually are. But finished White Cap seems only one of the better teams. You can definitely see the way they're set up today why they've picked up results. It was a bit surprising to actually
see them drop the game last week to allie Gas as they did. It's been a very solid team that's been able to pick up wins home and away, and I think it's because they're not afraid to play. And we're going back to the Colts. The Colt has been instilled in this team a certain belief that we can play at home or away, play our way and we can get resolved. And you haven't always felt out of Vancouver. I've boys first team that should do better than they have. The stadiums there, the
fan bases. There was a very good USL team and in the MLS era haven't quite reached the heights of the Sounders, even the Portland Timbers, and so it's actually good to see for this region that day are much better this season. All goes into the box till white. It was a slipwoar for armed All stays in farst side. The left comes back to VTA. Vancouver have been bright in these opening fifteen minutes of this Cascadia game. Ninety three
point three kgifm we are here at Lumen Field. It was a seventy five degree day that turned into a sixty degree day within a couple of hours, back to a nice clear sky. Little risk the win as the ball gets whipped in by Eddie Kugby, little bounce in front of Stephan Fry, easily collected by the Sounders goalkeeper, who got his three hundredth regular season game for the Sounders in MLS last week, alongside the two hundred and fifty game mark
from Christian Roldan. So does the Sounders have that combination of youthful energy in the likes of Vargas and Reagan. Soon we have the experience to get through these early weeks and months of the season when they've been struggled with injuries to some extent, but it's always been next man up. Stephan Fry talked about that you can't have any more excuses. I'm getting all our players back now.
Now. It was about kicking on and trying to build on what the last couple of weeks has been, which is two clean sheets out of two four points out of those two games. Last time they played at home, of course, was that five nil hammering of Montreal, and Steve you and I were here. Montreal came out out well. The sound has absorbed that
initial pressure and then really put their foot on the gas. Yeah, and I think there'll be a good lesson for the Sounds to keep in mind where Vancouver has started well, but goals changing games, can the Sounders get a bit more threatening, a bit more dangerous in these eras in a final third ball whipped in on the sixth clear by Blackman over the end line for a sound as corner kick remains nil nil. Yeah, because Montreal came out with
the same intent as Vancouver didn't quite execute in that way. But it was around this part of the game when the Sounds began to exert influence. Then of course it was the rivalry with the guys that left footed deflective goal that gave the sound As the lead. This crowd rolls and then it was the Sounds never looked back. So set pieces definitely gonna be key and Russknack with a chance. It's really put in the Vancouver Whitecrafts under pressure Russnick far side
the Riots could be an ounswing. It goes short to Christian rold On, back to Rusnak, clipped in towards that back post, towards Jordan Morris, goes up heads the ball goal kick. Vancouver remains nil nil here in the seventeenth minute, but good play by Albert Rusnak. The number ten, as of course, has taken over Nico Laderis. He moved to Orlando really trying to take the team on his back after coming back from that early season injury.
And with that, we're going to throw it down to Michelle. Thank you, Danny, as we haven't seen too much of Albert Rusnack so far
through the first eighteen minutes of this match. He's currently tied with Raul Ruidiaz for the least amount of touches on the Sounder squad, which is not what the coaching staff wants to see, as they tell us that they challenged Albert this week, that they've said, without Nico here, he's got the opportunity to take this team if he wants it, challenging him to really rein in and make his present presence known. Really hoping for a big performance here tonight
from him. Yep, thanks Michelle. Last year, seven goals for cis all seven goals with game winning goals, including in the playoffs. And don't forget playing in that more advanced position number ten at RSL. He got eleven goals eleven sis in his season before he joined the Sounders in twenty twenty one.
He's played a variety of positions for the Sounders, injury in other areas, playing a little deeper alongside JP in the early parts of his first season with the Sounders, and then of course JP picks up an acl Vargas picks up another injury, and it's Rosneck who has to drop back a line, play in front of the back four and anchor that midfield. But now playing Steve in a more familiar advanced position, I think it's something it really relishes.
Yeah, absolutely, And we've seen him going out on the wing and a bit deeper as you've mentioned, but he is most comfortable in that role and he'll play its slightly different than he Callado, maybe not as much movement, a bit more positional discipline. But at times in games like this you go go and find a board. And I think the good example of that is the equivalent on the White up side, Ryan Gold, who pops up all over the place. And in the Montreal victory, Abbe was so influential
because in the second half he was moving. He's man everywhere, left side, right side, centrally at times, and I think the more touches he can get, the more can involved in the game. It's only good news
for the Sounder. So hasn't been as involved yet, and maybe that that why a Sounders haven't really tested the Vancouver White Cups back then, Vancouver having this near side the right with Addie Cugby, but of a shift in formation for or personnel should say, in certain positions for Vancouver, Ahmed's playing wide on the left, Addie Cugby wide on the right, leaving Brian White as a number nine with those two wide players, and then it allows Gold to
float as almost a number ten and a diamond formation in the middle of the park with Kubas in front of the back three and Vite on the left and shot from the right. Sounders have it left corner of the box with Roznak flicks the ball into Jordan Morris. Good step by Vesselnovitch finds Addie Cugby. Here come Vancouver in transition. We should do so well at times, so they've got speed on the outsides and obviously the dynamic play in the combination play
of gold and white. It's been a gold white show since those two started playing together back in twenty twenty one, and certainly the goals and assists for both players through that time has carried Vancouver ford and a foundation on which to build for Sartini and his squad. As Vesselenovich has it in the back, calls it out to Blackman. The Sounders FC Soccer is presented by Provident,
Swedish official healthcare partner of Sounders FC. As we get here in the twenty first minute, remains nil nil here in a packed house at lumen Field, yet again standing room only in the lower bowl, as they try and find another kickstart forward in this campaign, Sounders look to follow up last home game with another convincing win, and so far, as Steve and I are both
mentioned, the pace of the game started off really well. It's starting to find itself a bit of a slower pace now as both teams get settled in Vancouver holding their line just a few yards inside there half of the field that comes deep. It's probably a show of the fact that Roz hasn't had too many touches. Then the game so far, the ball goes back to Fry, rolls it out to this near side to Nu, skips inside back to Reagan. High press now from Vancouver goes into Vargas who gets his heels clipped,
nothing given by the referee. Referee being then the game flows so far. Sound is trying to build out the back. It's been vargast a couple of times. It's been caught, no foul given. As the ball flicks to Alex holdan farst side the right. Certainly see Vancouver putting some high press and making the Sounders look a little uncomfortable building out the back so far.
Yeah, yeah, And I think what the wake ups would doing really well here is finding out balance of when to kind of sit in there block and allow the sound of possession of the back line, but then reading occusion backwards, passed or passed back to Stephan Fry a bit of a heavy touch. Then they press and they're doing it very compact as a unit. I think both teams defensively actually in pretty good shape. When the sounds need to do now is Yes, it's been a decent start, but you've got to be
more of a threat. You've got to see Raoul, You've got to see Jordan Christian Road on Albert Rusknack, who those four. I've got to find the game a little bit more and start to really put that backland under pressure because it's been a bit too comfortable for the Vancouver defenders and goalkeeper so far.
Who has it just strides past the half whaler and plays it with his right foot to Jordan Morris in front of the Vancouver bench, plays a little one too with Russak almost gets it back or finds the foot of Roussnik go square to Fargas. Option to his right is Alex roll down. Blonde hair has gone. It's a little bit more difficult to see. The ball gets whipped in, drops to the top of the rocks to russneck twenty yards from
goal strike just wide les goal kick Vancouver. But that's better from the Sounders and better from Alba Ru's nack. Steve Zach, why there you go right there? All four preyers involved Jordan Morris driving at the back line, trying the one to with Russknak, doesn't quite play off the fans. Win's Priscier roll done, puts in a really really good cross just to vase ahead of Raul Rudiaz and when it fell in the end, Albert Russnak does really well
to make a touch and that's not too far wide. But Joe Potter was also angling for that one, making a round ford and it was the next sceneing Man just left it and Jpman had a one time shot from distance and we've seen him hit those in the past as well. But that's good from the Sounders. That's encouraging. Put the white Caps under pressure, crossed it
into the box. Never know what can happen, and I think on that occasion there Christian road down showing that yes the guy can come inside of Nathan's happened, but also can be very dangerous just almost as a natural winger and whipping balls into the box. We feel see that the good teams find a way just to can maintain some possession, but when they go they go at
pace. Yeah, and that began from Jordan Morris on that occasion when you received the ball out wide and he's getting a lot of one viewant opportunities here. When as a winger with his skill set, when you're one v one day, you've got to take it every time, and I mean every single time. Yes, you'll lose it at times when you lose it as a
winger, what's the worst thing. You're eighty yards from gold, They've got a long way to go, so just puts the right back center backs under a lot of pressure and defenders don't want to be under that kind of pressure. Knew who strikes forward with ball on his feet, plays the ball left to Jordan Morris left pull of the box one B one versus ust neck us towards the end line. Good play by the Vancouver right defender. Paul goes in, bounces up, cleared by Vessel Leonovich, picks up by Alex roll
Down, comes inside, plays square. JP picks the ball at the center of the park, comes left and Knew who left channel thirty yards from the end line comes back to JP. But it's a chance from the sound of stevehe was a bit of dynamic play from Jordan Morrison started it, and rudyas right and where he needs to be, all bounced around, eventually cleared by Vancouver. Yeah, it's all have a very good attack on a tie. The beginning to time towards the sounder is here. Let me begin to ask
at the questions so far, the wack Cups having the answers. But knew who does not get forward as much as he once did. But the two times in this game he had been effective, great little combination of Jordan Morris on the left hand side and a little cross there just finds with DZ but
in the end couldn't quite direct his head of gone words. But as I said, and the sounder is now beginning to dominate possession in the attack and half asking questions boards out wide, crossing into the box, and it's what you want to see if you're the home side, and we'll see how the ware cups respond. Before goes into Christian rold on right channel towards the end line, whips it in towards that front post headed clear by Blackman over the
end line corner kick for the Sounders. A little bit better from the men in green as they ping the ball around in the attacking third of the field. As Albert Rosnek trots over to the far side the north east corner of the stadium, it's gonna be an outswinger with his right foot. He puts one hand up in the air, just sets the ball down. Big men are up. Jackson, Reagan Yamar Jordan Morris is sitting at about sixteen yards from Attakiyoka's goal. Nobody in the six yard box and now they make their
runs. Ball goes in headed clear by Vesselnovitch finds the foot of Armed There's nothing more than knock it down the line, but he finds a marauding Brian White finds the ball into attic Hugby good build out from Vancouver. Under pressure, the Sounders back off and let Vessel Andovitch pick it up. Plays the born to shop middle apart flick with the outside of his foot to it's near side. The right to Vta also got some license to float around the central
area of the midfield to get here. In the twenty seventh minute, nil nail between the Sounders and Vancouver in this first Cascadia game. Started, of course, the Cascady Cup back in two thousand and four between the supporters of the Sounders, the Timbers and the white Caps in the old USL days. Sounders and Vancouver both winning seven Cascadia Cups over the years, Vancouver winning last year. Sounders didn't have a great show in the Cascadia Cup last year.
They've certainly got the inputest and the desire to do a little bit better this year for their fan base. Something the fans like to push on each other as the success between these three three clubs. That goes back, of course to nineteen seventy four fiftieth anniversary for these two teams, Sounds obviously showcasing that fiftieth anniversary with an entire rebrand of the club, a move to a brand new training facility. But for Vancouver, they start their fiftieth anniversary year on
fire. The ball gets into the foot of Rudiez the Sounders winning in the middle of the park. He started to building the attacking half of the field. Can they test tack Yoca in the goal? It's been light on chances for both teams so far. Both goalkeepers haven't had too much to do. A couple of minor saves for Stephron friars down to his left that eventually found the foot of Knew, who was able to clear tack yocre. It was
a little flick by Jordan Morrison to the boxes. Ball goes in for a far side, eventually picked up by VT with his left foot plays the ball into shop It's near side. The right just drives forward, got some space, plays it into golds that sounds half the feel flicker the outside of his left foot added copy powering forward, goes towards the top of the six cleared by Alex rolled on and it was just the ball was up. Brian Wyatt made the run Steve zach Quarney and he was just behind him. And actually
think Brown White could have held his run. He had no reason to get so deep into the six shard box. The ware caps open, the sound is up in adding Kobe showing Knew a clean pair of fields there. And if Brown White just holds on a penalty spot he runs on today and maybe be a simple finish and the wag cups would be wonder up. But that is a warning sign. They got a really quickly transition. There no surprises.
See Ryan Gold added heart of it, old fantastic pass and the sounds to my black man with a long throat finds itself at the top of the six headed clear well by Jackson Reagan using all of six foot five frame. The ball goes down the right hand side, farst side the right picked up by Kuba's top of the eighteen yard bucks played out to this near side za vta. The Sounders track back again get back behind the ball as Vancouver come
in transition, but certainly an open game so far. Fifty to fifty in possession shows the balancing effect of this game between two teams that sit on opposite ends of the Western Conference. But as the Sounds have shown the last couple of weeks, it's trying to turn the corner. Two clean sheets at the last two games, three clean sheets on the season's trying to showcase that defensive
prowess as they did last year. Leading MLS Sounders pick it up. Alix rolled on middle of the park track from his right back spot all the way to the center and Ahmed won the ball plays it out to his brother Christian in the right channel. Nothing forward has to go back to Albert Rosneck to JP, who's been look quite so far as he gets his foothold into this
game. First start. Of course, in this campaign for JP played eleven minutes against Montreal it's two weeks ago at home, but all of twenty five plus minutes against Dallas in a much tighter game down in Frisco last week. Now he gets the start in the middle of the park. And see if we talked about it some of the subs Brian made when he took ten to
off and brought JP off. He asked if that was motioning towards his decision who plays alongside, and of course showed to be itself correct with Vargas starting in the middle of the park as the ball goes through to Stephan Fry. Yeah, and I think both Josh and Tensio and Albert Vargas have done really well. It's not easy to be in the middle of that park in today's MLS. A lot of games are one and us there. Both done well, but foot the coultry stuff. Just feel the balance between JP and Oldbed.
He's slightly better at the minute and maybe all but in the past couple of weeks had just maintained a slightly higher level than potential has, and that's exactly why he's playing there. But the Sounders do have a lot of games coming up here, so you have to think there will be a lot of rotation. You don't think that John Part is gonna be able to play every minute of every game, and maybe even not today. We're not sure if he's even ninety minute fits, so we'll have to see how that plays out.
Gold has it blackmun fast side the left to armed Cooper look very comfortable that lumin fields so far well, having got any type of result in the last and the type of win at least in the last ten games. Eight wins, two ties for the Sounders here at Luminfield. Because Gold has its center, the Part flicks it out to the fast side the death to armed black Man pounding forward as well overlapping run. Armed comes into his preferred white
foot. Brilliant tackle by JP read it perfectly, won it clearly, and the Sounders now in transition left channel driving forward Rusnack Jordan Morris to his left, plays it into Jordan Morris inside the box, back to Ruy Diaz top of the box, trying to find the pocket of Space assistant referees. Flight goes up. The pass from Russak was delayed a little too long. Jordan
Morris went off side free kick for Vancouver. You know, I've got to see a replay here, but I actually think Jordan's got takeoff even more than that. I thought Jordan was running alongside Albert Russnik when in that situation have to wing off. You make the script, you demand the board and that ball will come earlier in it. And albut was in two minds delayed, delayed, dribble, dribbled, and by the time you find to Jordan Morris, Webb's off side or not will be very close. But the Sounders took
away their own space. I think if Jordan just explodes takes off right away on the fourth print, not seventy eighty percent, Albert has to play that pass and Jorda will have the more mental of taking beyond the back line and probably put a count the board into the box. I'll get her comments coming into the second half. Here Brian thinks of this first half? Does Vancouver have it on the deck. The Sounders FC's Kids Club is back. All goes down the right hand side this near side right for Vancouver back to Addie Kukby tries to flick on his left foot into the box, finds the head of VTA up it pops good headed by JP right place, right time, clip forward by Christian Balldon. Clear with the left foot I've knew who finds the pocket of Kubasu wins. The ball finds the foot of Gold, who drives towards the left hand side. Good cover by
Alex Roldan. But it's gonna be a corner cake for Vancouver, and that shows so far the game's been. It's been the clearest from the Sounders. Vancouver pick it up and they break quickly as exactly, and it's swinging back towards the Vancouver White Cups. The Sounders from about minute twenty minute twenty five we're on top for quite a while there began to create chances. The White Cups bent, they didn't break, and now beginning to find their own influential
players, and they're beginning to ask the question of the Sounders. And they have another set piece here on the left foot of right ball Gold farst side, the left outswinger Ahmed comes short, All comes in towards that pea case, but yemar redso well heads it up in the air, cleared, comes back to VT about ten yards inside the Sounders half of the field, shifts it towards the far side the left of Gold corner kick taker driven in well
straight to the hands of Stephan fry Something. It wasn't a whip boy, it was a driven ball with the left foot of Gold. As we said, revelation for Vancouver. A great pickup. Scotland a DP signed in July of twenty twenty one, time at Dundee United Sporting Lisbon and Ferenze before coming into MLS. He's found an incredible partnership with Brian White as ball given up
by the Sounders foot of shops to Addie Cugby. This near side the right to be flicked with his left foot towards the back post, all the way into the hands of Seth and Fryer does a quick throwout and the Sounders get going quickly. Listen near side the left comes Jordan Morris thirty yards from the end line, drives forward out the big backs up. They'll bally the outside the foot by Jordan Morris giving away cheaply. Vancouver are able to come away
then and it's Addie Cougby flicks it around the corner. Eventually referee calls it. He's knew who would click the heels of Addie Cougby right in front of Sartini. It's gonna be a free kick for Vancouver. We don't often see a player that's willing to talk so of new Who every chance to get so it's refreshing, honestly, and I think knew Who would relish and welcome that matchup. Addi Cogby every time he's received the board been very positive. A
couple of times he's got the better off new Who. So that little battle here on the Sounder's left Vancouver's right, it's been interested to watch so far. But he's been a very good outlet for this White Cap see because he really stretches the Sounder's back line and it's keeping knew Who very occupied. All finds the foot of gold is really dictated in the middle of the park so
far armed has it left corner of the box. Far sight comes back center to Vita goes square to this near side of Udfig who plays it first time to Addie Cugby hugging this sideline right next to the Sounders bench. Vancouver trying to find that opening goal was La Galaxy last week, who went up one nil aheaded by Brian White to bring them all square and then it was two goals and the last ten minutes of the game that got the Ala Galaxy. The win put them top of the table. Sounders have it, they brought
it out, referee gave the advantage initially. We'll see if the staff come on they do. It's ftam, is that a yellow card from far? I guess with a little bit of consternation by Rosa trying to figure out what's going on. I mean for Stephen fry to come out of his bone. I mean he's come to the halfway line. I'm not sure exactly what the sounds are protesting gain, maybe just saying it's not a foul or it's not a yellow card, but the sound as players not happy at all. Gold
seems to be in pain. He's down on the ground, went down right away and stayed down. But Stephen Fryer came rushing out of his Gold to really have a chat with the referee. And I'm not sure exactly what the sound is here are complaining about. We'll get you on to see a replay. Oh did did the card go to Yema? Yeah, it's not Yeamo with a foul, And I think it's more how Gold landed a hand in the back from Jackson Reagan on Gold. There's more than momentum. It was
the momentum. Yeah, and I see what they're saying. Yeah, So it's how Gold's ankle twisted as he landed there. But there's nothing malicious, nothing too much in that. It's just the way his body track to turn and how he landed on his ankle. Well, now we get the first test of these new rules he introduced. Training staff came on. Possible red
card, serious foul play. I'm not quite sure. Is that Jackson Creek and I'm looking I'm looking at Jackson right now as what you could see the see his lips saying okay, so the Jackson, that's the right person. But there's no chance this is anywhere close to red belly a yellow cord. Yeah, this is uh, I think, being as conservative as possible the
look. But the training staff came on. Now Gold will have to go off the field for two minutes and the white Caps, as we get here in the fourtieth minute, will play down a man for two minutes with Ryan Gold having had the training staff come on the field. So referee still listening to his ear piece, there's confusion all over the place as of now bolstered on the pitch, so they're gonna have to get him off. Yeah. Yeah, so we're gonna throw down to Michelle. As a slight break in
play. Here's the referee in the players trying to figure things out. Yes, this is this is the first time we're seeing this new rule here, which is the off field treatment rule that trainers and medical staff are supposed to bring the injured player off the pitch to continue play as fast as possible. We talked to head coach Brian Schmittzer about this during our production meeting yesterday and he said that all the rule changes that we're seeing implemented in today's matches were
not approved by the coaches during the off season. It also appears now that the referee is going over to check a var which means that we will see that for the first time, the in stadium var reading that will happen after this, where the head referee will replay the information that's provided to him and the reasoning behind the verdict of this play. So it'll be interesting to see how this all plays out here. I think we're all confused up here,
Michelle and not about the rule about Gold going off. But the fact that there's a VAAR check for what was nothing more than just a clumsy foul. Also, and I think the legs may have got tangled in. Yes, gold ankle get us quote. And it is an injury. See even holding his arms up to almost Troy Becket and hold him up. This is not what VI should be used for in my opinion, that it's a simple you move on Gold, gets treatment. Don't think he's even a yellow card.
This is for this to stop the game for three four five minutes. I mean, this is unbelievable. Well as a referee checks it, Yeah, as we continue to look at the ring, and it's just quite incredible to think that the game is gonna stop. We keep seeing this replay Steve so that they're looking at Jackson stepping on Ryan's Gold. Yes, but that's just forward. No Militia's attent mother than an attempt to make a tackle. It's momentum, hands in the back. Yes, there's an injury, give him
treatment. I don't think it's even a yellow card, So I don't know why it's been checked for a red. And I think Schz agrees. Yeah, I mean Schmittz is just putting his hands up, shrugging his shoulders as he's talking to Addy Kugby on this near side touchline, talking to the fourth official, and he's been at the monitor for time, which makes me a little bit nervous. I mean, this would be a very, very This is one of the situations where a referee gets involved in the game when he
doesn't have to. Yeah, I mean it's a big game. It's an open game, it's a balanced game, it's an even games. See what he does here as he wanders back on the field, looked at the screen on the north end of the field and he showed a var and is that a record number? Twenty five? Green committed a serious foul play offense. The final decision is red card. Oh, that is the most insane decision
I think I've seen in a long time. First of all, the refereed has the ability now to communicate out to the crowd what is going on. He shrugs off the yellow card and gives a red and that is Steve saccording I'll let you try and explain that one. I'm speechless. I'm honestly, honestly speciless. I mean, this is unbelievable. I think if the ref just gives a foul, nobody complains, the game keeps going. I mean it would be it wouldn't been a question That yellow card was even question.
And that's at most. What happens here is a boars coming to Ryan Gold who's trying to turn and look at Gold still in the field. Yeah. Yeah, and he's got off for two minutes. That's the rule. That's what we were told. We got treatment, the training stuff came on. But does it change as a caution. I think it's as a caution. It may change. Well, now Gold isn't on the field, is on the field still. I think the rule might say if the player gets booked,
you might stay on the pitch. That might be a part of it. We're gonna read it the hard refreshed. But Jackson Reagan's unbelievably unlucky here. Yes, he does have a little stamp on Ryan Gold's right ankle. It's momentum. Unintentional happens five six, seven, eight times a game, happens in every training session. It's not zerus foul play. Wow, Well,
that certainly turns the game upside down. Sounds have been this position, of course at home, getting a early second half yellow card and then a red from Entensio against Colorado when they were a goal up that costs them three points in that game. Well, a FLEX membership is soccer on your schedule, Attend any regular season matches with who you want, in the seats you want, and save on single match pricing. It's your membership on your terms.

And again, let's remind everybody out there. A red card through a VR check on Jackson Reagan that look nothing more than a foul. As the ball goes into shop inside the box, good t by Jordan Morris, plays the ball to Alex Roldan who clips it forward to Rudys step forward by Kubas. Of course, it's gonna be much of this for the
rest of the game, Vancouver putting pressure on the Sounders. The ball goes towards the far post, flick comes off, add a Cougby goalkick. Sounders remains nil nil in the crowd continue to be incensed as we see ariagag off the field and guess who's gonna come off the field. Unfortunately it's ruy Ds. It's ruined the game, it really has. It was a fantastic game. It was flowing. It's a derby game that wasn't nasty there or no
nasty tackles. The refree didn't have to be involved in a game. And I think this is one of those moments where he'll have to look back on that. It's a big mistake. And now it's taken off Rudias Sounds got to play with ten the flow of the game, it's all different now. It really has changed what was a really promising game all right, well as the Sounders getting ready for a goal kicking Stephan Fry, We're gonna throw it
down to Michelle. Thank you, Danny. We talked to head coach Brian Schmittzer this week about moments like this, injuries, bad calls, attacks on certain players, and how he's really hoping that this will be something that lights a fire under his team and really gives them that extra tenacity to fight to the end, to take it up another notch. And so this is the perfect opportunity for the Sounders to rise to that very occasion that Brian Schmutzer was
talking to us about this week. Thanks Michelle, Well it Sounders nil Vancouver nil five minutes about any time the end of this first half, the score update is presented by Providence Swedish. So the change is Ruy Diaz off the field, Jordan Morris is going to slide up to that attacking number nine, come back and help defensively where needed, and then Oriagara is sliding in for Jackson Reagan in a light for like switch on that left center back position.
But Discount Tire get thirty percent sure to average weight time when you buy in book online at Discount Tire dot com. And Steve the comment I will make we've had replacement referees. We've had you know the referees. Now I've come back into their position on the field. But one thing that we saw in the first handful of weeks with is the replacements was the use of VAR the regular basis. It felt like VR got it bright on many occasions during those
first few weeks. This season, it feels like VAR got it significantly wrong with that. Oh it does, and the moment we saw on the screen, they will check in for possible foul because sometimes you see a foul and you assume, okay, they're gonna have another look at this. That was not one of them. And I think the Sounders were complaining for the yellow card already and then to see him get checked and I got very nervous when the referee was at the monitor for five minutes. Then it's okay, he's
now really considering making a massive decision here. And that's how it turned out to me. It's not a red card. It's not a reason that center back or any player should go out of the game. Four And I think it's changed the whole dynamic compression of the game. The silver landing for the sound As is it's right before halftime. You've got a chance to go in and regroup a little bit. You have to change how you plan to play completely. But it's just in no world of football, any league in the
world, is that a red card offense. Sounders nil, White Caps nil. Here in the forty ninth minute, as we get to the final two minutes of the added time, Sounders defending the gold to wild left ball goes inside the box of Brian White, shepherded away by Ariaga, goes back to Vta who skipped by rolled on left channel, plays its square to white, comes in towards his preferred right foot, goes back to Kubas Sounders defending top
of the box. All ten men now after Jackson Reagan red card ball goes into Kubas farside the left with blackman left channel, rolls it out to Ahmed, calls down by Alex Roldan, then his brother Christian Or goes square top of the box, flicked around the corner by shop cleared by var Guess all the way back to Tachioca decked out in fluorescent yellow ten yards out side of his box. He rolls it out to Koubas. Sounders look at just trying
to absorb these final minutes of this first half. Get back in the locker room. Brian Schmitz when his coaching staff get the team sore to daughter as armed has it goes into gold flicks it in up in the air goal kick Sounders remains nil nil and we'll just make a comment about the injured player who didn't go off. If a player is carded because of a foul on that individual player, that player does not have to go off the field and sit out for two minutes. Yeah, it all takes. I'm getting used to.
It was right away like you felt, you know what, Rang gold has to go out here there and play down a man for two minutes. Two minutes in a long time in football, how can a sound to take advantage? And within sixty seconds that will change as the Sounders now who are
found to ten men for the rest of the game. At least time, Ryan gold Off stays on the pitch because Jackson Reagan was given a yellow card and then a red car well miscleared by Vessel Andovitch gives the ball to Christian roll Down, skips by him inside the box towards the end line, cleared by and there's a foul given. It was a little tug on the shirt and that's gonna be an SGP yellow card for Vesselnovich the right corner of the
eighteen towards the end line. When a foul is called, SGB trial lawyers are here to help visit SGP dash law dot com and see from advanced point, I could see the shirt being pulled. I'm just hoping it's gonna be a couple of yards further forward and inside the box. Yeah, and Christian dus Well, you've seen players go down for less. So Christian nuts really well was focused on getting BT into the box. Bark. That's good refereeing.
Yet the pay develop the advantage never materialize in Now the Sounders, what a way this would be to end a half, get your noises in front, go in, regroup and then figure out a game plan to defend with ten men for the rest of their game. Five and a half minutes already passed, about a time of five minutes. This is certainly the last chance of the first half. Kind of Sounder's nicker goal. Wouldn't this be a
great way to send them into the locker room. Roznak has it two yards from the end line, legs it in top of the six header chance and wide by Jordan Morris. What a chance, And there's the referees. We're still to bring this first half to an end. But Steve zach Quarny, that was the chance for the Sounders to open up the game and go into the lower crew won't go up. That was it right there. Fantastic little lifted board by Albert russ Knight. And Jordan does really well, gets in
position and he seems to be she just doesn't get a contact. It's a free head up and for how good he's been in the air in the last couple of years, that's a big chance. And it sounds would have loved to get noose in up front. As it is when at halftime, mil Neil, you've got to get that decision out of your system. You can't do it on it. It's done. Jason Reagan's not coming back today. But I think for the neutral at least and the fans on both sides,
it's changed the whole compression of the game. It really has changed how this game is going to be played. It was a wide open balance game until that red card from Jackson Reagan towards the end of that first half changes the makeup of this game significantly. So we'll take a show of break Jackson, Bred and Pete. We'll be back to break it all down at halftime here at EQC Pitch at Lumenfield. Its sound is nil to Vancouver white Caps nail.

Forty five minutes in the books. Here

Sounders are down to ten men because of a Jackson Reagan red card, a what they referee Romy Tuccin said was a serious contact foul apparently came up on the ankle of Ryan Gold in the middle of the park and after a var review in the forty third minutes, Jackson Reagan was given a red card. No goals for either team. But that is the subject that's going to be here in the first part
of our halftime show. Jackson feltz, Brad Evans p fewing and I'm just starting this is my personal view, just me personally. I'll let you guys give your takes. That's an embarrassment. That is a pathetic red card, and that is one of the softest worst red cards I've ever seen. It is horse belief, Brad, that is unbelievable that Jackson Reagan was taken out of this game. Embarrassing. Well, it's serious foul player, violent conduct, and it was neither of those two things by the rules of what is
deemed a red card in this league. And I've seen a lot of red cards. I've been a part of one that was violent conduct on me, and I'll raise my hand and say, yeah, that was my fault, you know, fifteen twenty years ago, and I've seen a lot of them happen, and that one right there does not fall under either category. And at the end of the day, Keith Pierce is right next to us World Cup, you know, twenty years playing professional We're both looked at each other.
He's like, yeah, it's a yellow card. It's a yellow at the end of the day. And even if you gave the yellow, Vancouver's not gonna complain. I don't think it's. Yeah, it's a hard foul, but he doesn't go in with intent to injure. He pushes the grass is slippery, is vegan underneath him? And yeah, he steps on him, But it wasn't like he stomped on him. We've all seen the blas
Perez stomps back in the day. We've seen a lot worse. Tim Aleia grabbing Christian Rolldon and slamming him into our own net right, that's violent conduct, that serious foul way. You didn't even get a red on that, not even a yellow card, I will think, so, Yes, it's referees discretion. He's under the gun in this game, trying to make a statement, but at the end of the day, he could have controlled the whole thing by just giving a yellow card. And now the game is heavily
in Vancouver's favor. It's not a disgrace, and we've seen it before, but MLS is gonna MLS. Yeah, I think you look at it and the intent. You didn't see Jackson Reagan hunting right, and then the response from Jackson and Vancouver. You didn't see the Vancouver bench erupting. We're sitting next to some of the Vans coaches and they they did get a little bit upset about it. And we're pretty adamant that it should have been a red card. But and it's in the middle of the park. It's not,
you know, a goal scoring opportunity. It didn't look as violent or as intentional. And again, the response of the Vancouver players and bench didn't hint to me that it should be a red card. So yeah, it looked like it should have been a yellow and it's unfortunate because now the game's changed, right, we have to take Rui ideas off the field. We bring in Ariaga. I get why they're playing with four at the back because with the gold and white up front, you're gonna need more numbers back there to
protect it. So Brian's doing the right thing in my opinion on that one. But we just lost our leading goal scorer right now, and it's unfortunate. Yeah, I'm not sure I agree with bringing Rudeaz off. I think there may have been another option. I think when you're in a game like this, you have to have someone with a bit of magic up top to create something out of nothing, and that the only guy that does that is
Rudias. Well, Sounders are down to ten men as Bres it may not be a disgrace, but for my eyes, that's about as war bat of a red card as we've ever seen. Look, I think when I'm playing a man down, sometimes we actually play better in that scenario because everyone's mental capacity has to go up just a little bit more and
everyone's hyper focused on the task. You're at home, I'd be thinking a little bit different if we were away from home. I still think there's chances to attack and catch this team on a counter. And now in the second half, you play for set pieces, you try to get corners, you try to get fouls, but really now it's about keeping things tight defensively.
If I'm Schmidt's, I'm telling JP and Obed, hey give me twenty thirty minutes and just go and then I'll bring on Josh and then I'll bring on Danny, and you'll get fresh legs in there to shut this game down. And that's what the Sounders are gonna need because they got a tough road stretch coming up in the next couple weeks. Yeah, a lot of games at a very short window. I think you want to make sure you keep the clean sheet, so you go out with a defensive mind. For sure,
you're not gonna have JP for all ninety minutes. We all know that based on what we heard yesterday at training, So they're gonna have to hunker down. Brad, You're right. It does heighten everybody's intensity to try to keep it. We need the crowd behind us on. Yeah, play for those set pieces. Make sure you're very compact, and you're dealing with two forwards
who were awfully creative and only need one chance. They almost got one on the head or just before they have so a golled into white, you've just splicked it over. So they've got to be sharp and they got to take advantage of their opportunities. But defense first in this one. Now, Danny Jackson, Steve Zachowani, Michelle Ludka have the second half that starts next on Sports Radio ninety three point three KJRFM. If you love your meals with a

Pitcher Lumen Fielders Albert Russneck stands over the ball to get this second half going. Certainly the end of that first half is where all
the happenings that change the face of this game occurred. As the Sounders get this going, shooting from left to right, attacking the south, Gold decked out in their anniversary kit green shirts, blue shorts and white Sox Vancouver playing upperman for this second half after a Jackson ray and red card towards end the end of that first half. Dubious would be a nice word to say for
it. I think we're all in agreement. That was extremely harsh and just a real poor decision from VR. As New strides forward, covered by odening On that right hand side, flicks it back, picked up by Vta, who shifts it to the middle of park to Addie Cugby so VTA who plays it into Gold. It's gonna be real. Back to the wall half of soccer for the Sounders as Brian White comes clatching into yeah Mar, the fans the red bark. I don't think it is. I don't think it's a
red card, but it was. It was almost as bad as that's the problem. This near side the right, Alex rolled On rolls it into Jordan Rice, clips off the heels the vessel and noovich first Sounders corner cake the first corner kick of this second half. Sunder's nil white Caps nil here at EQC Pitch, lumen Field, ninety three point three kids, you're FM wherever you're joining us at home in the car on Apple. We appreciate you joining
us. It's gonna be a slog over forty five minutes for the Sounders playing down a man against a resurgent Vancouver white Caps this season. Two arms up in the air for Rosnak this near sight the right whipped in outswinger towards the top of the six, headed up and over by Yama. We'll see if it's another corner kick. It looked like it came off the head of Yama. Referee gives another corner kick, same side. Albert Brosna gets another shot.
They're whipping in a good ball and rynch Betz has talked about these set pieces. Let's not get too fancy. Let's put a good ball in attack the ball. John Morris had a chance towards the end of that first half. Ball comes in top of the six, headed just wide. We'll see Sounders fans are asking and the players are asking for a corner kick. Assistant refre he gives it. Third corner kick in a row for the Sounder. Steve zac Corney. Yeah, and it's good. Albert Russknack to putting a
boy in the right spots. The Sounders have to just try to get there first and beat the first man. More comes in from Alex Woldan, this time bundled over and away by Vancouver. Good start to this second half for the men in Green if they attacked the south end, their traditional end for this second half. Certainly for the Sounders. We've seen some green shoots of these last couple of weeks. Five mil win against Montreal at home two weeks
ago, neil nil last week against Dallas. Maybe great, the Sounders could somehow find a result. Down a man Zariaga, the player who came off the bench, clips it all the way to tack Yoka. With that, we're gonna throw it down to Michelle. Thanks Danny. I had a chance to catch up with Brian Schmittzer coming back on the pitch following the break, and he tells me that the only positive that came from that red card call is that the players are incredibly determined. They were fired up in the locker
room. They're hoping they can use that to generate something. But the biggest change coming into the second half is formation. They're now playing in a five to three one, hoping to really still create some with they move Christian out wide and that they're really gonna focus on being solid defensively and simplify it ten twelve past sequences in a row is what they're going for and hopefully they can get something going. Thanks Michelle. Yeah, come out of the blocks sharp
of the Sounders. Sometimes adverse can drive a team forward. Steve, Yeah, and I don't think for the Sounders you have to plan to defend in a low block on top of your eighteen yard blocks for forty five minutes plus at a time. Yes, there's gonna be time you have to suffer and sit deep and defend, but you're gonna have moments when you can keep the ball you can get forward. We still have some very dangerous guys on the field. I do think Ruthy as maybe I understand a substitution, but you
may have to depend on half a chance in this half. And that's the one guy who only needs half a chance. For Bob, you get the launch from Bran SCHMITHSA where maybe it's a few more direct balls in behind the pacer. Jordan Morris has a number nine, So you understand our substitution. So see a lot of this sitting back in the back five almost with Christian really dropping very deep on the left hand side. But when you have chance to get on the attack, keep the board, give it. If there's
a little break nothing, you've got to take it. Thancouver have it. It's near side the left with Addie Kugby shifted from the right side to this now this left side to the second half, all goes in cleared up in the air by Christian, rolled down, headed clear by JP as he gets bundled down, whacked on the back of the head, and right away Yemar is telling the training staff stay off the pitch because this is what the game's gonna happen. Now where in the past there Ryan Gold has a little bit
of a head injury. You'd normally see a player stay down. Yeamar is not. Oh well, kind of stuff has come on and they did not want him to come on. So now if Yama gets treatment or sorry Joe Parler gets treatment, he's have to go on for two minutes. So Steve, I'm looking at the rules here. Suspected head injury does not classify. Again, as I mean, it's almost like there's more things that don't classifying the ones that do, so we won't be to nine men. Good that's
good news. That's good news. We'll see if they follow the rules. But that's what I'm reading right here. So as we get a slight breaking action, let's get you the starting ten for the Sounders coming out in the
second half, Stephan Frying Gold and a back three. As Michelle mentioned, knew who on the left, Ariaga in the middle, Yemar on the right outside winging back on the right roll Dan outside left wing back on is Christian Roldan Are three in the middle of the park of JP Obed and Albert Roznak, and then the lone striker and attacking force of Jordan Morris up front for Vancouver Takyo Quing gold, Udvik, Vesselonovitch and black Men as a as a
back three, I met Kubas, Shop and Vite in the midfield and attacking three of Gold White and Addie Cugby on that left hand side. We'll see the tactics of Vancouver change. Now being upper man, they feel that the wind is in their sails and they can commit a few more players forward. But again, as we mentioned, this would be a galvanizing win. The
Sounders can find a way to get three points. As they launched the ball forward and lo and behold, GP comes right back on the field, slots right back in front of that back three as Shop comes driving forward this left channel, this near side comes short to Kubas on three yellow cards, one yellow card away from a suspension combative from number twenty in the center of the park. For Vancouver, there's the far side to armed. If you mentioned
Addie, Kugby and Ahmed have shifted sides for this second half. Vessel Leonovitch rolls it out to Blackman. There's gonna be much of this in the second half. Sound Iss just holding their line top of the box. Well organized and certainly in my time with Brian, and I'm sure with your time you played with a man down and a man up in practice, so this is not foreign to the team in Green. No, you trained for this enough
different times in the season. You prepare to play a man down, and you know absolutely watching football our whole lives, and you've seen teams with ten men sometimes take even a further step forward and actually find a way to grand out a result. They can bring the team together, they can governize you. You have to use everything you can, and I think branch myself hitting then in the head when he told Michelle there is the guys will fired up.
Then the guys are gonna, you know, use it a little bit as a slap in the face and see, can we use this as fuel to come out in the second half and prove everyone wrong because we're expected to lose the game now. And I think that's maybe the letdown for the sounders. You wanted to build off the Montreal wind, the Dallas draw, and it's been made significantly harder orgoes square to VTE. Sounds holding strong so far in these opening minutes of the second half. Fifty third minute Here EQC pitch
lumin field sound is nil Vancouver nil. Ball goes in left corner of the box to white. Pressure from Yema has to go back shop, picks it up middle of the park, drives it to Kubas, rolls it out fast side the right to Udvik, who gets involved from his right center back spot, comes towards the back post, bounces once twice. The end line goalkick for sounders and with that it gives the sounders a breather. Let's get you the bench for the sounders because if Bryan Schmetz, there was a few comments
and questions about his substitutions last week didn't make too many. But on the bench for the Sounders, Ariago, of course has already come on the field a tenso Jonathan Bell Massovsky has come off the bench with an impact so far this season. Leo Chu an obvious bit of threat on that left hand side, Andrew Thomas the goalkeeper, Cody Baker, Danny Leaver and then Dylan Tevez
so on some attacking option. Steve on the bench for Brian will be interesting to see how long he leaves these players out there fresh set of legs. Certainly with ten players is yeah a point. Yeah, I think his bench becomes even more critical today. You have to wonder two. Even with eleven. We did another minute cap on Joe Parlow. You have to assume, as you have to run more with turn soul, how long can the Brazilian
stay out there and listen. I'm sure he's the kind of guy that's gonna say no, I'm going ninety, but you still got to be smart, have the data on that. And I think as long as it's nil nil, you have a chance to win the game or maybe get a point from the game for the Sounders. You do look to some of the younger guys to come out and give you some fresh legs. Run both ways, you
know, defensive end attacking wise. So maybe try and steal a Nike a point of what a big win it would be if able to put it off. Sounders asking for an off side and the system referee on the far side nothing given. Gold picks it up it's near side. The left comes in square to shop for the yards from Gold, Sounders holding a block. The only play in front of the ball is Jordan Morris gets shifted from left all the way to the far side the right with armed closed down by Christian rolled
On playing on that left wing. Back Spot goes in short to shop inside the box. Top of the box is Gold shifts it to this left hand side at it Cugby comes back to Blackman flicks it in with his left foot cleared well by var Guess all the way to Sartini, who picks it up and hands it to the Vancouver number six Blackman, who throws it in quickly. Sounders holding a low block just outside their eighteen yard box. Right now
playing a flat across that eighteen yard box. The ball goes into Addie Kirkby left channel, closed down by Alex rolled On just holding up the ball, forcing Vancouver just to clip the ball in where the Sounders are at their strongest in the middle of the back three one by Gold top of the boxes. Shot looks that far corner goes over the end line Gold kick Sounders remain Sounders, Neil white Caps and Neil Steve Zaquani and I think, Danny, that's
that's the pan we're gonna see. We're gonna see a lot of that Vancouver White Cups camped outside of sound Is box. It's gonna be about surviving a lot of those moments in that In that instance we have Stephan Frying Gold, So you're okay to take your shots from outside the box because you really have a You gotta put a lot of trust in that belove of Stephan Fry especially
on his birthday if he wants a clean sheet as well. But if you're the Sounders, be prepared to have a nail bite in the second half, and it's gonna be so important that in those moments you do get possession to string together. As Michelle said five, six, seven, eight, maybe ten eleven, twelve passes, just to keep yourself a break defensively, because no matter how well organized you, if you have to defend for forty thirty five minutes, at some point there will be leagues. Well. It sounds
also playing against the wind that looks to night. We'll see the plasticket covering the top top areas of the stadium here fluttering in the wind. One of those clearances from sefron Fries seemed to hold up in that breeze. It certainly picked up in the afternoon here in Seattle. They started up beautiful seventy eight degrees. As we headed into the early afternoon, the suddenly stormfront came in. Temperature dropped. We got a blustery, chilly evening here at Luminfield.
As any cubby picks it up, challenged by Alex Roldan does well, one V one goes over the endline for a Sounders goalkick. The Sounders FC Soccer
is presented by Provident, Swedish official healthcare partner of Sounders FC. Of course, Sounders rebranded their training facility their brand new training facility as Yemar has it right corner of the box, all gets played in giving away cheaply to Kubash inside the box, Addie Cooky plays it into Gold and that's a gift given up by the Sounders as Vancouver take advantage of a cheap giveaway at the top of the box and it's that man Gold who strikes it into the roof for
the net to put Vancouver up one goal to nil. On worst enemy the sound is there. You cannot afford to do that. Yes, play out of the back when there's time in space. On that occasion there, it was forced and Yema, you know he's got to hold his hands up and I think he already has because that mistake does come from him there. You want to make the team with eleven work for it. If they break you down. It's a great football and it's incisive passing inch around the box and
they score. You accept him where you cannot if gifts away when you're back's against the wall. It Sounds had so many opportunities there, just Alex vill Donalds completely wide open. That's where the part should have gone. They're trying to force it and jam it down the middle and Indian Vancouver White Cup just picked them off and once the ball got into the box and gold his wide open. He's not gonna miss from there, and the sound is now happy
all to do. Speculative shot by JP goes all the way to Tachioka a see builds out the back. We're gonna throw it down to Michelle, the Sounders continue to look for someone on this squad to really, you know, have that fight, that energy, and I just want to point out knew who after that goal was scored, he was the one clapping and gesturing to the rest of his teammates trying to get them going, almost saying, come on, guys, we got this, let's go, let's go, And
it was nice to see that out of him. Hopefully the Sounders respond, well, thanks, Michelle. Yeah, we certainly know that last week Sounders were somewhat called out by fans and the questions posed to Brian Schmitz on his team about when JP got hit to the ground on his first significant return to the team that the players didn't necessarily back him up. I think you saw Stephan frying that first off, come charging out, good turn by JP in
the middle of the part ture and back up their teammates. Now it's all about character. Can the Sounders withhold this pressure from Vancouver and find a chance to get back on the board, get back even in this Cascadia Cup game. As Rosnak picks it up top of the box, they'll flick over the top by Roldan giving away. Kubas cleans it up, flicks it out to the far side, the right to Ahmed overlapping run by Vite comes back to Nick who plays it into Blackman and the Sounders try and find some shape hold
the top of the box. The flat line of five now defending Stephen Fry's goal. It was two clean sheets in a row before that goal from Gold his third goal on the season. Sounds worth showing some of those signs of their defensively that they had last year. Thirty two goals against last year for the Sounders t my best record in MLS. We're coming in to tonight's game. It was seven goals against. Now it's going to be eight if the
ball goes down into Vita into the channel. Good defending by new who just steps on the ball, turns out a pressure, plays it into Rosnak gup gives it away cheaply again to Vancouver. Not what Brian Schmtze wants. To see Fanny Sartini gesturing to his players as they Emar steps in well wins the ball or clip of the heel from Brian White, nothing given by the referee, plays into Vargas where the sound is gonna find that a little bit of
magic. We asked for that against Montreal. Ru Diez delivered in that first half with that left footed looping shot found the far corner to get the Sounders going as Oriaga shifts it from center to the far side. Brought down really well by Alex Roldan in front of the assistant referee twenty five yards from the end line. Goes into JP to Vargas inside the box, plays alongside the six, back to Vargas into Alex Rolldan right channel comes back to Yama and
the Sounders are gonna build good bit of pressure now from the Sounders. So it played into Alex Roldan it's near side, the right comes into his left foot, nothing available comes back to Gemar, back to Alex Roldan, loose on that past Alex roll down. As GP goes to the ground, Kopask goes down. A couple of changes now for the Sounders. So number three go up and think Oriaga's questioning what's going on? Actually is gonna be a
number three for Vancouver. That's Addie Kugby is gonna come on the field. So off the field for the Sounders, we're gonna see Jao Paolo Mayk wave. Good smart decision from Brian Schmitzer gets his first introduction into the game the mere cry luck that came on the field for Addie Kugby, and there is Mussovsky and it's Ruznek who makes way. So I think for the Sounders you go pretty much into a four four one it looks like, and it pushes
Jordan Morris back out to the left hand side. Mussovski will go up top between Christian Rodan and Vargas, will see Bogas. It seems to be on the right hand side right now, and it's Christian who's starting next to Joseph Tencio. I'm not sure that will stay like that, but right now it is Christian Rodan central next to Atensia, with Vargus sort of on this right
hand side. And it could also be the sound As just depending on Alex Rodan to me to be the outlet on the right hand side and having Vargus, Christian and potential playing sort of as a narrow three with Jordan as the win from the left hand side, yep Attenship playing alongside Christian Waldne middle of the park with Oben Vargas. Samda's got some youthful energy, got the legs
now. Masovski has been impactful when he's come off the bench. Of course, his first goal was scored against San Jose Earthquakes across from Cody Baker towards that far post in the second half. That tied it up. And then before you could blink, well, San Jose went down the other end of the field and scored their winning goal. Sounds not a bit of high press and started from Jordan Morris. Thesovski just shepherding Vancouver down this left hand side.
Gold flicks it with his weaker right foot, cleared up by Yama or goes over the top except from Fry reads it well headed clear out of bounds. Can he get back in Gold quickly? Gold gets it in towards White good defended by Yama, plays it out of bounds on it's near side the left. It's gonna be a Vancouver throw. Let's get here in the sixty fifth minute Sada's trailing offer. Ryan Gold goal his third of the campaign to
put Vancouver up. It was a cheap giveaway by the Sounders top of the box and there was Vancouver took advantage, so they play a man up. The Sounders continued to suffer and what looked like a very dubious and ill advised red card from var It was a long check from the referee and there was a red card given to Jackson Reagan towards the end of that first half. That's now putting the Sounders in the hole, down, a man down,
a goal, and the Sounders find a way back here. They haven't given up a win to Vancouver in the last ten games here at Lumenfield, eight wins, two ties. Coming into tonight's game as Vancouver pick it up with Kubass comes to this near sight to Blackman, Well, Steve, we'll talk about character, talk about backs against the wall. Sounders have started to pick up their season now injuries into players are back, but this is gonna be a real test. Can they find their way back to this game? Yeah?
And what you can't do in football is feel sorry for yourself. Listen, awful red card decision, can't change it. You gotta move on. Bad course happening all the time and over the course of the season. Your hope is that these things even out, not always the case. That's the hope for the Sounders. You cannot feel sorry for yourself because at the end of the day, at the feet is at the feet. It's not gonna have an asterisk next to anything like that. You've got to start finding ways
to get points on the board. And any game that's only one nil, you're still in the game. It's a set piece, it's a moment of magic, it's a mistake from the white Caps, so you're still in this game. You cannot pay over your heads down if you're the Sounders, and you really want those subs who came on there, especially Missovski's gonna be up the top to give you that energy. Runs it behind and I want to see the sounds be a bit more direct. You know, we're seeing the
building out the back. Still it's okay, but with Ariam, go a bit more direct. Ask Jordan Morris to run to something, Ask Missovski run to something. Because right now the white Caps am a spare player. They can press you all day and as we've seen already, they can get rewarded for it. The sound the Sounders do get out of pre sure well flicks it down the line, giving away cheaply by News. All that good work
from the Sounders. There's a sloppy ball I knew who down the left hand side towards Jordan Morris, easily picked off by Vancouver as they build again with taciocre in their goal, just pings it for to his left foot, headed up in the air by Ariaga, challenged by Atensio at the foot of VTA. Now is Vancouver able to shift in transition shop his pocket picked by Vargas. Referee calls a foul, much to the sugarn of the Sounders, faithful
or boo throughout the stadium. Here. No Christmas card has been sent to the referee this year, Absolutely no, and again maybe a far afought. You know, the ball may have been poked there before taking the man. I'm not too sure that you can't be too upset with that. I think just the complexion of the of the of the red car it's just changed the whole dynamic of the game. And I think because we have the feeling in the hole sit. It was such a poor decision. You can see even
a budget at you from the Sounders after going behind. It hasn't been sort of this reaction, this response, of this fight, this give everything we can for the next twenty minutes. And so you may be waiting for that wave to still come from the Sounders. Right now, everything's too comfortable for the white Caps. I'm watching the Sounders hit and every single player is facing Stephan Frau with their back to gold. Jordan's got to take off, Missos
has got to take off. Alex or Christian all done. Sometimes you gotta run before the ball, force the man on the ball to find you playing behind. It's gotta be selfless, thankless work. It's gonna be hard. We're not seeing that yet. Let me ask this question. You got a Massofsky who's decil holding the ball up, can flick the ball on. You got Jordan Morris who can slash him behind. You'd think, what how he
gave up that goal? Yeah, Stephan Thriving is as experienced as he is at some point to put your foot behind it playing to Massovsky, feed off that and get this leading behind it. Be ugly, be ugly and it's gonna be very difficult, you know, just say it all the time in London growing up at times when I'd be on a team when I have to ten men listen someone today's en have to bust a lunk. And that's why it's for the Sounders. Another cheap giveaway from the Sounders. Timutensio is gold
who drives towards the top of the box. Foul given white or knew who inside the box sounds free kick. Christian rolled on just demanding a couple of things from Jordan Morris. This time it does go along and it's going to hold up in that wind. You can see it turn. You fight for second boards and didn't quite get that occasion. I don't mind that the white Caps now have the board deepen it on half. You can regroup. You have to put pressure longboards, fight for second boards when you can mix up
a little bit more for you. The Sounders all cleared by Blackman. That was good pressure from Masovski and Alex Roldan goes out on this near side for a Sounders throw. Sound is finding a bit more of a foothold in the game. Now they're gonna try and take advantage of these long throws, this time for Alex rolled On. I've seen this before the La Galaxy towards the
ten shil can he flick it? It does towards the top of the box cleared by Vancouver and Ahmed picks it up outside the right closed down by Christian rolled On. We'll see if Brian Schwetz continues to tinker with this formation and personnel. What's you got Leo Choo still who can come off the bench being added there? Yea, you gotta figure at some point you've got to just you know, throw cautions. Oh, that's a big tackle. It's a
heavy tackle. It's a yellow curve. Yeah, yeah, just a bit late then Misoski, you don't you don't mind that seeing your ford trying to put pressure on pressure on the defenders. But that's a forwards tackle, just miss timed. It takes a big chunk there, and yeah, you got, you got. You can't you can't complain too much. Take's a big chunk out of pubist there. But you want to see the sound is play like it's one nil and moment for the sound of the plain like it's two
no three on the games gone. It absolutely isn't with twenty minutes ago. The White Cups will get tense as they get closer to the victory as well. For the Sounder is just edge an up a little bit more, be a bit aggressive, take risks and it's one of those games where if you end up losing two, no, three, noe for going for it, you accept that all day and I think fans will appreciate that. Yeah,
they always have here give a good effort. Branch Schmetz always talks about the effort that his team puts in. You never question that referee Just forcing out small down to go back three yards seemed to bit petty, but here we go. Sounders flow back in the foot of Yama. A couple of things to mention about tonight's game. Last time, Dr Michael Morris will be on the sidelines as the team doctor for the Sounders. Give away by Ariaga cheaply
to White and there's the second goal for Vancouver. Suicide at the back for the Sounders giving away again and Vancouver take advantage this time with Brian White who picks a ball up off the foot of Ariaga top of the box, takes two touches forward, slots it past step fro and Fry. It's Vancouver to Sounders nil. Well, what's going to disappointed Bran Schmetz is the Sounds. I've been the own way enemies, no idea what I real is doing here. The bood comes to him ten yards of space. All the time in
the world. You turn back past the Stephan Fry, it's not even close to the coming a goal. To think as the last man you're gonna dribble past two players. I cannot even imagine walk a goal for a players hadding out in that situation. There simple past Stephen Frying, you go out the other way. It's very simple. Happens fifty times a game. And you've just seen yall make a mistake and you've compounded it and any hope the sound As may have had to rescue this. That's taken all the win, energy
and air out of the stadium. The referee played his part, but in the end, the sound As were their own worst enemy. You cannot make those mistakes. That's criminal defender club substitutions for Vancouver. Hmed comes off and it's cost a ten second rule. Got a confusion on the sidelines. We'll see just coming off the fielding shop is gonna come off. Burholter is gonna come on the field. Now it's Vita being told to come off the field.
He's gonna walk the players, forcing the compatriot to go off the field. He walks off the field. Let's get a count down and see exactly what that situation is. Yellow card by Christian to Christian roll Down, arguing the fact that Vita is still on the field and that to me again referee lost control. Yellow card to Christian roll Down. His argument is that Vita is walking off the field, you have ten seconds to get off, and now he gets a yellow card and there's not even a minute delay for the
player coming on the field. Yeah, you know, we say every weekd referees such a tough job, such a difficult job. Then you know who would be a referee. But I think this referee to that has not covered himself in glory. I think, you know, sort of lost control of a game that didn't need to be lost control over. It was a very
clean game. There was not any bad fouls, heavy tackles, and you go from zero to a hundred with a red card and since then, just the energy and the whole mood of the stadium and the game is changed and you've seen a yellow card if for Christian Rodan, where Christian has every right to ask the question of are we enforcing that new rude or are we not? I don't understand how you can get a yellow card for that, but
after seeing the red card, maybe not too surprise. And I think it's just the mood on the game now and the Sounder is just the mistakes. If the White Cups came out second half, made the man advantage count, played really good football and broke you down, you live with that. When you give them two goals, that's gonna be very hard for red card. Yeah, for Alex Roldan. The game is slipping away very very quickly for
the Sounders. With Alex Roldan came crunching into Ahmed, it was high, it was studs and judging for how the game's been reft right away, you're gonna be a red card. You've not seen a replay yet. I don't think there's any malicious intent here from Alex Rodun. I think he comes in late from behind, high and they start showing listen, we complained about the Jackson Reagan red card. I've got to say I think that's the right decision.
We talk about, yeah, last week about players stepping up and being a little bit more aggressive, but that's the kind of thing it's a little out of control. Yeah, it's from behind it studs, it's high. If they happened against the Sounders, we'd be advocating for red card there. Listen, you give a free credit on that occasion, you can make the right decision. It's not the worst tackle in the world from Alex Rodunn, not at all, but from behind studs contact. Tough to make a case
for that. Well, the second red card for the Sounders in tonight's game, two red cards, two goals for Vancouver from two very simple mistakes from the Sounders, two similar mistakes from the S And right now, the first red card was certainly questionable from the referee. The two goals were mistakes from
the Sounders that could have been avoided. And then I think just a bubbling up of frustration from Alex Roldan took over the crunching tack of him behind and based on how the referees refeing this game, there was no other card gonna come out as pocket than red. Bor gets blocked out from gold onto Christian Waldon continues to chase it forward. Hooked up in the air, Musosky cushions the head headed towards attention. That's where you're gonna stick a foot in.
Josh Attensia gonna win that ball. It's bor goes through to the back post of Vancouver, heads it over the endline. Goal kick Sounders I mean Sounders nil white Caps two. But Sounders FC soccer is presented by Provident, Swedish official healthcare partner of Sounders FC. Well certainly, but Brian Schmidt, so this is gonna be a teaching lesson for his team some point. Leadership from
the back has got to take over. You've got experience, and knew who experienced an Ariaga experience in Yemar. And it was Yamar and Ariaga who coughed up the ball cheaply gave Vancouver the opportunity to put the ball in the back of the net. They did, sadly for the Sounders, it's the mountain to climb out down. Two men down, two goals. All goes to de Vargas middle of the park, chased by Krylak experience, RSL player finds himself on the squad here at the white Caps signed in the off season,
Armed picks it up. Neual pressure from the Sounders you'd expect now as they lined up three at the back for a midfield what up front? Just trying to stem the tide here for Vancouvers, they try to take this game by the scruff of the neck and really make a statement here in this Cascadia game.
The first Cascadier game for the Sounders this season, the second Cascadier game for Vancouver white Caps, after beating Portland three goals to two in their first game, almost likely shift to six points, sit high on top of the Cascadier standings. What goes into Burholter former UNC Chapel Hill player, son, of course if Greg Burholter US national team coach. But see, looking at this game now, you know what is Bryan schmittz gonna try and take from
it? What can the senior players demand from each other here? Is that get to two nil nick A goals? See what happens? Yeah, I think for the Sounds that you probably accept that you're not gonna win this game. Listen, if you can find something a goal to give you hope, get the fans to remain in the signs back on side. Sure, but it's pretty much a bad day at the office. You accept that all goes in headed all right, save by Stephan, pride, double save by step
and pride. Is that gonna be a whip? Is that a yellow curve? It was Brian White came crashing into step and Fry. In any other games, Steve I would have said, yep, yellow card makes sense this game question mark. Yeah, the referee points off into a corner here where every challenge is going to be extra scrutinized. But think that's what Schmiz is looking for. The coaching star fish Stephan Fry doing his job. Still, you do your job till the end if you can. You the Sounders.
You don't cower, you don't bow your heads. You keep going. You play, whether it's two nailed down, five nail down, you keep the same habits because in the end that is what builds championship. DNA. Tonight, you'll feel very far from it, but you can still must some habits today that can serve you long term in the season, and that's what it starts looking for. Let's get you some scores around MLS tonight. Columbus to
Portland too, so opposition for the Sounders. In a couple of months, pauland pick up a point on the road Miami three gon for messy Nashville one. Salt Lake dominating performance against Chicago, winning four goals to nil. It's Houston one so Houston nil Austin one. Another wide open game for Kansas City is they tie Saint Louis three goals to three, Colorado get a win against Dallas two goals to one. LAFC currently in the eightieth minute tying New York
Red Bulls one to one. Of course, here at Luminfield, Sounders trailingue two goals to ill against the Vancouver white Caps, as they have it with god left and side tries to clip it towards the back post. It stays in, it does it goes over the end line for a Sounders goalkick. But this copyrighted audio casts of Major League Soccer may not be retransmitted, reproduced,
or rebroadcast without the express written consent of Major League Soccer alumni. That was showcased at the beginning of the game tonight was Marcus Hannerman Sounders legend. Of course, one of our colleagues on the Sounders Radio Broadcast started hearing the Sounders in the mid nineties, went to England, played in a number of plays including Fulham Reading Wolves, and then came back to finish his career up
in the Pacific Northwest for the Sounders. And of course some of those memorable moments when he was playing at Starfire, grabbed a beer from a fan the middle of the gate, took a couple of chucks, kept on going. That just sums up. That sums up Marcus. Brilliant individual, fantastic personality and of course for all goalkeepers, you have to be a little crazy. Yeah you do. Did you even decide I want to play in Gold?
I've never understood that, but yeah, Marcus definitely one of the best teammates I ever had in my career and rightfully saw that he was under tonight. So as Jordan Morris trots off the field for Cody Bacon, the substitution for the Sounders, we're gonna throw it down to Michelle. Thank you. Danny. The coaching staff's telling me that they're making this substitution in an effort to
limit Gold differential. That's a focus now to get through the next ten minutes and not letting another goal happen against the Sounders, so kind of answering your question of what does the team do now? What is the focus? And the coaching staff again telling me that it's really to watch gold differential now, Thanks Michelle, Well. Flag still continue to fly in the south end. Several city supporters continue to support their team. You can hear the voices,
you can hear the songs. Some people are leaving. It's a cold, blustering night here in the Pacific Northwest as we wait for consistent spring weather and summer weather to come upon us. We had a brief spell of nice weather
this afternoon. All suddenly change in a matter of a couple of hours, and the Sounders fortunately took on that dim forecast in today's game with two red cards, one to Jackson Rigg and the end of the first half one to Alex rolled on two cheap giveaways top of the eighteen yard box for the Sounders gifted Vancouver two goals as they lead here at Loomingfield. Two goals to Niel. It's a Cascadia Cup rivalry or get shifted from center towards the far side
clear by knew who Sounds playing with nine men just holding their line. Top of the eighties. They pushed themselves up and out Vancouver building out the back, lots of patients, nothing, no reason to push for Vancouver. Three points in the back, Steve three points in a bat of games over here, I don't think it sound to score three. Not even getting two will be a tall task. So you can never know an a set piece. You get one, it inspires belief. Stranger things have happened in football one
hundred percent. But if you want to Sounders at this point here, it's about just keeping that to you. No, don't score, get out of had no embarrassing anything like that. White CAP's gonna play the game out. You're seen by the subs the branch Bens is making there that he's wave the white flag flows before tonight, but still watching a game to see who can
you count on going forward here? And how do you respond from this, especially this week of training is gonna be very very big for the sound is how do you respond to this kind of resolved a very bad day at the office and of course a very difficult road games ahead with DC United and Philadelphi in the match of a couple of days. The ball goes down the line towards the end line, sounds in to chase forward as Brian White comes in good tackle Ba Yama. It's gonna be a corner caick for Vancouver. With
that, we gotta throw it down to Michelle. I would like to follow up Danny on Steve's point there of really, what's gonna happen at training this week? And I'm curious from both of your perspectives as being former players, is this the rock bottom moment in the beginning of the season that could be the turning point for the Sounders to turn things around? And if so, who do you look to on this team to lead that charge. Yeah, it's a great question. We'll see the corner and then yeah, I'll come
to you. Sure, it's a great question. It's gonna be an outswinging corner kick for Vancouver. Far side there right northeast corner of this great stadium, three steps back, Vancouver holding four or five men top of the peak. Spot ball comes in, whipped in towards the far post. It's gonna be clicked back in towards Stephan Fry, collected well by the Sounders goalkeeper. So go ahead, Steve, So I think right there. Stephen Fry is
one of those jar Parlow, those kind of guys. I would be shocked because I think in my day which this kind of result, we would have. Definitely a player's only meeting. You don't need a coaches to come in and tell you how bad it got. You know, the likes of a Casey Keller, and so you're some leaders it up on the Zach spots. We'd get a group together, you talk as players, you'd air out the briefances, you kind of see where you went wrong, and then you vow
to do better. Then he just kind of lifted the move and then one or two results to turn things around. So you have to look for the leadership the Stephene Fries of the world, the jar Parlows, Christian or done at this point as well? Can they Garvin as the group because you have to keep perspective. It's just one game. This is one game. You don't lose in this way and it suddenly it carries off automatically. It's one game and if you don't allow it to become a long term thing, you
can correct it next week. Absolutely well. It's an SGB yellow card for Kubas that says fourth yellow card in four games that will give him a suspension for the next game. When a fowl is called, SGB trial lawyers are here to help visit SGB dash law dot com. So Michelle, I'll give you my quick answer is for this specific game, I don't think it's rock bottom. I think we've had some difficult challenges in these early weeks and months. I think the sound has started to turn the corner. Then you can
identify certain things. You can't let a red card in the first half dictate the entire game, and you've got senior players that cannot make elementary youth team player type mistakes. If you've got to clear a line, Steve mention it a little bit more direct, you've got to change your tactics. You can't build out the back, and then certainly you've gotta highlight Frustration does come in. But again, as senior players with Alex Roldan, you can't come in
and make that challenge. You give your team an even bigger hill to climb. So learning lessons for sure, but I certainly think the senior players need to look at themselves and think about how to manage a game like this, especially when you feel a red card was was false a given by the referee in that first half. We'll see if the Sounders can nick it something back here free kick the Sounder's right channel with Christian rolled on have four yards from
the end line. Just on this near side the right, you've got a chance to put the ball in. Ball on the deck, two arms up in the air like Christian rolled on. Players making their moves, wall gets whipped in towards the goalkeeper collected by Tachyocre lands on the ball to burn off a couple more seconds. But sounds fans, if Sounders FC scores any time after the eighty eighth minute during a home match, we'll have the chance to

Watch the match via the MLS Season Pass on the Apple TV app and listen on nine to fifty KGr AM and l Ray thirteen sixty am in Spanish. The Provident Swedish prematch show starts
at four pm see minutes tick byThe eighty eighth minute here at Lumenfield. Don't leave us at the end of the game. There's lots to break down. Jackson, Felts, Brad Evans, Pete fun will be here to give their
perspective on what's been what's been seen tonight here at Luminfield. Two red cards for the Sounder Jackson Reagan in the first half, Alex rolled on in the second half, and as we mentioned, two gifts for Vancouver at the top of the eight in the yardbox, giveaways from the Sounders and then easy finishes for Vancouver to put them two goals up here at Lumenfield, their first win here in the last ten going back to twenty seventeen. So Sounders now need
to regroup. Tough road games ahead of them. It's a resurgent DC United and always consistent Philadelphia Union. Of course, that's the rematch after that rain cancelation, when the Sounds are out there for six minutes, and the interesting thing for all of us, the game will start at the six minute mark with the same lineup of players if available, and if not, then players have to come off that bench that was on the field or on the bench
of that particular game back in March. But just turn and strike light of the goal, so Danny to confirm. So jar Parlo can't be in that squat. You cannot be in that squad. Wow, unless there's an injury. Everyone just slides up and he could slide onto the bench. I love to see what's available next week. So an example, I think Leo Chu, I think believe he started that game. If he'd have not come back, then somebody from the bench would have come on to take his position,
and then that would left a spot for JP potentially to come on. Flick forward by Mussovski to get here. In the ninetieth minute Sounders nil White Caps two, the score update is presented by provident Swedish. We'll get shifted far side to this near side, flicked up in the air by roaldn finds the foot of Musovski. Five minutes about a time Gold came back to try and help out, and the tenttio is going to pick the ball up. No
real options of course. Sounders playing down a man war goes in to one of the young players who came off the bench, Jay Herdman Nick gets the ball plays it into Burholter farst side the right pot by Ahmed who goes back to Udvik to Vesilla Novich. So even game, very much so in the first half. See it was really exciting, open ended back and forth even in possession. It was a good game. It was a really good game
and opened both teams went for it. Of course that decision sort of changed the course in the game, but I don't think that's what Brian Schmets will spending his time on or goes into the box in the post game team tour. It's not mistakes. Vancouver scored two here, but there were two gifts and you cannot do that. You take those gifts away. The white Caps
really haven't created too much out Saturday. This is a game where you could have actually got away over the point that would have built belief shon the resilience. I think the mistake, okay, it happens our Reaga one. For me, that's unforgivable because you're trying to dribble when you don't have to at one am, trying to make a pass. Did you make the past? They're probably not. You're forcing it. You get caught, Okay, don't
hit it. Happen again trying to drip the back. You never do that at any point, so to have that afterwards, it's just a gutpunch, and there was those no way back after that. I mean, it goes back to the basics of your position. Your job is to defend, defend, get the ball, pass it forward, get into the midfield, let them do something, and then you step up. Unfortunately for the Sound, as it was those two gifts that she gainst a man down, sometimes you
do have to change those tactics up play a little bit more direct. Yeah, absolutely, especially we've got players like Musofski who even Jordan Morris at the time. Up front you can get in behind the ball, gets struck what by Oriaga top of the box because you're gold On continues to fight for his team as you'd expect. The Sound is number seven, always a great presence in the middle of the field, always a player to look up to for
all those young players, and how to commit yourself to the game. Flicked up in the air by Atensio going out of trouble, Well it comes new driving forward to get here. Two and a half minutes of the five up, there's a fowl given by the referee middle of the park. Sounders should get this going quickly, two and a half minutes to go. It's some
kind of miracle here. Sounds down two goals down, two men and find something as Cody Baker flicks the ball up towards Masofsky inside the box, headed down by Vasilovitch into the chest of Atentio is driven for towards the end. Like cornerkick Sounders were played by Josh Atensio was on the field in the second half. Drives forward gets a corner kick here for the Sounders with two minutes to go. Certainly Steve Brian Schmitzer will have much to talk about in the
locker room. Much talk about next week. Yeah, the film session I Monday morning, whenever it takes place, it'll be interesting and you've got to be honest. More comes in in swinger all the way to the far posts, headed down Josh. It's a great save by Tachyoka. It's a really
good strike by Josh Atensio. Sounders asking for a corner kick. Nothing given came off Hurriyaga on the end line goal kick Vancouver, and that most likely will be that as we tick towards the final minute of this game, Saunders nil Vancouver to Steve Zachquanik Tanzel catches it really well by straight at the goalkeeper there and he does his job. Makes it good to say, wouldn't a
minum change to the result. But maybe we just give the fans who've stuck it out here just a little something to smile about on the way home. But for the signs, and I thought more about what Michelle asked us. Yeah, I agree. I don't think it's rock bottom. I think it's a bad Yeah, the office, and it only becomes rock bottom if you
allow it to become that way. I think you have to really get together very quickly tomorrow Monday morning, team meetings, conversations and figure out how do we not let this sea been and get us down to nil at home? Ten men, nine men? We laugh? Is what is massive game in DC? This bounce back tak yoga has it in the Vancouver goal. As we see these final thirty seconds out, Sounder's gonna have to regroup this week,
much of the squad to choose from now. Of course, Pedro de la Vegas so sadly picked up an injury again in practice that was widely reported this week. Ryan Schveetze made comment of it yesterday, Steve, you've been in that position before, away from home. Yeah, picking up an injury. It's tough, tough for the young. Physical part, of course, we know about it. It's a mental part, right, you're alone, you're trying to learn, and you see things like that your family sold many
thousand miles away. Not an easy situation, but a player we obviously want to see come back very soon. Well, the booze ring out here not necessarily directed at the men in green, also the men in pink who congregate
themselves out there. Wasn't a great performance by the Sounders, but you could certainly say it was a poorer performance by the referee, unfortunately changing the landscape of the entire game with a very questionable red card on Jackson rating in the first half, and then two mistakes from the Sounders in the second half gifted Vancouver two goals, and then to kind of round it all off, fortunately for Alex rolled on Mosh's got the better of him and went clattering in to
a tackle that cost him a red card, will put him out the next game. See your final thoughts. Yeah, disappointed, And then the Sounders did not lose the game of the red card. It was two mistakes, two schoolboy errors. See the mistakes in the back, and you just can't do that. Outside of that, the white Caps didn't create too much. There's a time and place to discuss that red card. Yes, we've seen teams with ten men get together find a way to battle. The Sounders came
in. I felt a little bit sorry for themselves and felt we were hard done by and you don't want to see that, and in the end gave the game way to the white Caps. Got to bounce back next week in DC. Becomes for me now as win game, maybe not for points, but just for morale. Ended lockerhom Well, tonight was podnight, and that's a nod to our resident Orca population. But I want to give a nod
to our resident doctor, Dr Michael Morris. Years and years and years of wonderful service my time as a player, came and joined the organization two thousand and six, that's our doctor, and then spent countless years and hours serving the men and on this field, helping them get back to play in front of these wonderful fans. SOT Dr Michael Morris, we thank you for all your service. See if you played under him, Oh, I suffered injuries under him. I got to know no better first. I got to know
him very very well. Showed up my leg me. He did a lot for me, so we were fortunate brad Emerson. I had to have him on our podcast this week. It's a great episode. Check it out with him and Chris Cornish. But just a great guy. Obviously gave us Jordan Morris too, don't forget that. But was a wonderful, wonderful person, great servant here, and I'm sure he'll stick around. You'll stick around still come to games, but just not on an official capacity. And listen,
I have him to thank for a lot of repairs on my body. I do too. He did knee surgers on me as well, many many years ago. And like I said to him, I took his advice. No more running, bike and swift and yoga. That's all I do now. So anyhow, I want to say a big thank you to all the people
involved in tonight's broadcasts. Of course Terry, Ryan Keeley, Dunning here in the booth, Kevin k has always for his great information, and of course the Sounders legend Steve zach Kuani. We'll take a short break, Jackson Phelps, Pete Fewing, Brad Evans, we'll be back to break it all down. And there is much to break down after tonight's game. But for mek Uc pitch here at Luminfield, it finishes Sounders nil Vancouver white Caps two.

postmatch Show. Sounders FC Sucker is brought to you by Providence, Swedish official healthcare partner of Seattle Sounders FC. The Sounders FC postmat Show starts now. Well, Mama said there every days like this, gentlemen, and this is one of those days. Seattle Sounders losing tonight at Luminfield of Vancouver, a final score up two to nothing. Seaw ended the night down two men. Red cards from Jackson Reagan, a play that we will certainly talk about here
on the postmat show. And also Ale Troldan got a red card just simply a moment of frustration for Alex and he was sent off as well. In the second half, Sounders lose to nothing. Brad Evans hewing. My name is Jackson felt here for the postmatch show. Brad. I'm not sure what to start with that. That was not a fun ninety minutes there. Yeah, I mean, if we break it down right, the first half was okay, and then the red card happened. Yeah, it changed the complexion
of the entire game, especially in a rivalry game. We saw the same thing, what was it last year or two years ago when Portland played here and Jackson gets a red card also, and then it changes the complexion of that game here at lumin Field and then we have a chance again though at the end of the first half, Jordan gets up and it's a free header
and it's not even on target. And this game is made of these tiny little moments within this you know, giant ninety plus minute game that if you don't capitalize on those, or you make a mistake, you can get punished. And sometimes you watch the game as a whole and we think, what could we have done better? But when you start to really analyze it, right, it's that mischance and then it's the giveaway from Yamar, and then
it's a giveaway from Ariyoga. Two gifts that gave Vancouver the victory tonight. And then we come down on the other end with a couple seconds left, down two men and there's a volley from eight yards out that's hit straight at the goalkeeper. Right, So we finished the first one. It's one nothing
Sounders going into halftime. Yes, we give them two goals, but then we still have an opportunity at the end to tie this game if things had played out as they should, and the Sounders just haven't been able to capitalize in front of net, regardless of if they're going to give up chances in the back. Disappointing night for the Sounders. We said at halftime that sometimes players elevate their game when they play a man down, and that didn't happen
tonight, right. That goal from Yamar was just a silly mistake. Maybe tired brain, tired mind and just wasn't focused at that time. Who's telling them to clear that ball? Get it out of bounds. I don't care. And then they get punished, right, and then it's frustration from Alex and it's a scrape on the shin and that's definitely a red card in that situation. And then the wheels just fall off for the Sounders tonight. Yeah,
when it's bad, it's bad, right. And you know, we've had so many years here where we've created luck and we've gotten a right bounce to the ball or a great finish as you just said, and right now we are not having any good fortune in those moments where you got to put those away, you know, and Josh hit it well, but he hit it right at the goalkeeper unfortunately, and you know that could have made a two to one. Then all of a sudden you're dumping balls in the box
hoping for a restart. But we're not creating the luck, the energy isn't isn't manifesting some kind of success for the team. And then gosh, these silly mistakes. I mean, I'm with you. You're a center back and you're or you know, the first one, you're inside your own six and you're playing a ball out and giving it away and then ari Aga dribbling out. Yeah, just not when you're playing down a man like you can't play those balls, can't you can't be get it out and get forward. Right.
The way that you're set up offensively when you receive the ball is there are straight lines. Right. If I'm playing a center back, I have one to my left and then I have a diagonal usually to my right, and then a diagonal to my left. In that situation, I think it's obed. That's showing feet straight. So anytime I play a straight ball, the defense is set up so that they're negating anything straight, and then one drops in to negate any forty five degree angle pass. So in that moment,
you can't make a straight ball to a straight runner. That's like the biggest no no in soccer. Straight ball, straight runner never works. Diagonal ball, diagonal runner, most likely that ball's taking you out of bounds. So it's it's the little tiny mistakes where we think we have to play pretty No, you're a man down, cleared out, get reset. No one's gonna yell at you. As long as you keep the ball out of the back of the net. Steph will be happy. Yeah, and and went
in doubt. Just kick it out of bounce right, you know, get it thirty five yards up the field and get it out. That's just and it's just so demoralizing. You know, Alex's red card might not happen if it's one zero, right, but he's frustrated and there's no excuse. I mean, he definitely did it. You know that he was upset with the referees on one of the throw ins and then out, and then Christian on the on the kickoff, was upset that it was taking so much time,
and so it just boils over. But it compounds, right and gets worse and worse. But yeah, we shot ourselves in the foot today by not getting rid of that ball and getting it out. And I feel for Steph because there's not anything nothing to do to do. I mean, makes fantastic save to keep it at two nil and then takes it, you know, a stomp on the knee also or a cramp, We're not sure, you know, it makes a fantastic save there. So neither of those two goals
are his fault. That was all up to you know, the center backs making decisions that they don't normally make. Yeah, and now is it desperation from this team at this point that we're seeing like we feel like we have to play pretty and dribble out of pressure, you know, at the end of the day, when you're a man down, you're playing for knockdowns. You set it at halftime, you're playing for set pieces. The only way to do that is to move the ball up the field as quick as possible.
NFL Football, I U still love it. Kids. When you're watching this at home, this is what you do. Kids, if you're watching the night's game. Get the ball out of the box. Get it out, don't mess around with it, anybody. Get it out. Well. You had one bad red card decision, which we'll get into. Two bad giveaways that led to Vancouver goals and three points for the white Caps tonight here at lumen Field. We'll talk about that red card to Jackson Reagan. We
talked about it at halftime. We'll go over it again. That comes up next on the post match show. Caps to your Seattle Sounders FC zero. Well, each week we do an Emerald Queen Casino Play of the match. Obviously nothing too much to go from from this game, I will say tonight we do look at the career and the Emerald Queen Casino Play of the match is the career of longtime chief medical officer and team orthropedic surgeon, doctor Michael Morris, who announced earlier this week
his retirement. Doctor Morris has obviously been with this club since the days of the USSL, so his career is our play of the match, presented by Emerald Queen, you know, the betting capital of the Northwest. What a career it has been for doctor Michael Morris. Just shame the Sounders couldn't get a win for him tonight. Also quickly mentioned that unfortunately your Sounders did lose tonight, but this season, win the Sounders win, you'll win a free

P fewing Brad Evans, my name is Jackson Felts. Let's talk about that Jackson Reagan red card which came in the late of the first half, forty third minute after a var review, Jackson is sent off. It forces a change in the forty sixth minute of forty five plus one, Brian
Schinzer takes off Rollery Diez puts on Hobby or Ariaga. But the red card itself, which obviously changed this game. We just watched it again. I mean, listen, I said at the halftime show. It's an embarrassing it's it's one of It is probably the worst red card I've ever seen. Brad. We just watched it again and we can reiterate the same things about how egregious it is. But what did you see when you just watch that again from Jackson and Reagan. Well, I got a better red card for you
that's worse than that. In Vancouver, I did a fake headbut because it was a retaliation if someone tried to headbut me and the referee gave me a red card and sent me off the field, but we won the game. So I scored a PK in that game, and we ended up winning that game, and all was well, seeing jingle bells in the locker room. But as we watch that replay, I think, you know, Jackson does he puts pressure and then he pushes Gall to the ground, and then he
steps and I just don't think. You know, Keeley, our producer said, you know, it's momentum, and I think she's right that there was really nowhere else for him to step. These these moments happened in a split second. And then what I always tell the referees when I'm coaching my high school team is just look at the reaction of the other team, right. I always want them to take an evaluation of anyone throwing their hands up because maybe I did miss something. But I think in that situation, he did
get it wrong. It's it's a yellow card at worst. And then then Gaul gets up and plays the game, and he's told find it plays, you know, the remainder of this game. So you know, egregious yes on on behalf of the referee, but the player not in that instance Yeah, there was no hint from gall of any kind of damage. You know, he wasn't a limp, and he was up and he was and hit. You're right, his response and even even Jackson's response when he hit him
was not exactly He wasn't standing over. If Jackson wants to hurt someone, he'll hurt someone. He's six y five, you know, two hundred and ten pounds. Yeah, if he wanted to hurt little tiny Ryan Gould, he's gonna do it, right. And that was an instance of making a statement. Yes, it's a rivalry game, it's gonna Referees got to know that there's gonna be hard challenges, right, but you got to let those things play. And like I said, you really have to read the game
and look at the reaction of the opponent. And no one's screaming. Yet the guy's up here are screaming because they see it from you know, one hundred yards up here. But I just think upon review still in that instance is not enough to warn a red Yeah, and I normally don't say stuff like this, but that really changed the energy of the game. It really shifted the momentum. And then have to take Ruy Diaz off. That's tough. He's our leading goal scorer and you said it, if we got a
penalty, kid, we don't have the guy who takes our PK. So it disrupted the team, But the momentum shifted to a team that right now is creating a ton of luck for themselves. And now they're top of the table and they're rolling. But I think the momentum changes with the record that the Sounders have. It the Sounders were at sixteen points and go a man
down. I think it's a different mentality. The reality is that they're four, one, three and two at the time right before this loss, and so I think that it's a kind of woe is me, like, oh boy, here we go Againeah, exactly right. But if you're on the flip side of that, everything's like, okay, boys, we got this, let's grind out a draw here. Oh. And that's where you see the frustration from Alex rolled on with his because he knows at that point,
like you know, it definitely is just the frustration coming out. And yeah, I can't I can't imagine that locker room right now. That's that's not going to be fun to get. You want me to go in there. You want to go in there. I mean, I'd love for you to go in there and stead very fantastic. Yes, call me well, Brian Schmitzer, Yeah, who knows what he's saying in that locker room, but Sounders falling tonight to the way and what I say in the locker Well,
let's talk about that coming up in the next segment of a delta. Airlines is proud to donate one soccer ball for every mile ran by Sounders sc players this season through Ray Foundation's one Mile, One Ball program. Welcome back to the postmatch show from Woomfield, where your Seattle Centers have fallen tonight by a final score of two nothing to the Vancouver white Caps. Well, let's go in the heads of a former player and a former teammate of Brian Schmitzer Brad Evans p Hewing as we as we wrap up the postmatch show here, I guess take us into the head and take us into the locker room for how
Brian Schmeenzer handles a game in a situation that played out here tonight. Brat, I'll start with you. Yeah, I think he's going in that locker room saying, look, I know we can't do anything about the Jackson Reagan, but we can control what happens in the second half and how we play
and the mentality in that second half, and it wasn't good enough. And then I think he probably gets fired up after that because to him, I don't think enough of those players understand what rivalry games are and how much it means to play in these and maybe we've lost a little bit of that. Maybe we've lost that you know, kind of bite about who we're playing against
and how much it does mean to the fans and the Cascadia Cup. And so I hope he gets angry because the second half, those mistakes are avoidable, right, And that's what's gonna upset him the most, because even after all that we get we get a corner kick at the very end and have a chance to score. So the effort is there. We can't fault anyone's effort overall. But it's just a decision making on the day against against a really good Vancouver side that will punish you. Now you go to you go
to Dallas and make those mistakes. They're not going to punish you because they're they're not good enough this year. But when you look at the table, the teams that are up top are doing it for a reason, because they are punishing teams when they make mistakes. Yeah, I think it's he's done it long enough, and he knows they've got so many important games coming. There's there's there's what you want to say, and then there's what's the right
thing to say to reposition your team for the next game. And and you know, as a head coach, I've had those moments where you say too much and you regret it. He's smart enough to know I'm going to say a few things. Hopefully honestly, the two center backs who gave up goals raise their hand and go, hey, that's my fault. And and hopefully Stephen Frye, you know, says a few things to get the guy's brains right. But I think he I think he's I think his less is more.
Uh. I think you'll think that. I think by not saying too much, by just looking at the guys, he'll get his message across. But he's starting to look for what's next. But you know, I think he talks about we need the fans, and I think you'll bring up see how many people left the game, right, that's not that is very unusual for this franchise to see that many people walk out. Yeah, not a good site there around the eighty eighty fifth minute or sow the five minutes where
we just saw hundreds of people walk out. That is not the site we wanted to see at all. But yeah, and in terms of what's next for the Sounders, a week from today, Sounders will be at DC United. It'll be a four to thirty kickoff four o'clock Providence. We just pre match show umible to hear that match over on our sister station on Sports Radio at nine to fifty KJR AM nine to fifty am. Next week we'll have

Ludka. Great to have her back on the broadcast tonight, Danny Jackson, Steve Zachawani, Terry, Ryan Keeley Dunning here on site, Michell Bly back in the studio. Great broadcast, p viewing.
