Welcome to the Sounders FC postmatch Show. Sounders FC Sucker is brought to you by Providence, Swedish official healthcare partner of Seattle Sounders FC. The Sounders FC postmat Show starts now. It's the final from Frisco, Texas. You're Seattle Sounders zero FC Dallas zero. No score, but a good amount of things to talk about here over the next half hour. Here on the postmatch show,
Jackson Feltzpete Feeing, Brad Evans here to break this all down. You know, Brad, this is kind of the topic that we talked about at halftime, which was there's chances for the Sounders, especially in that first half. I'm not sure how many we really got in the second half of than maybe one, maybe two. But really it's a game where you know, the Sounders walk away maybe feeling like we should have cashed one of those chances
and come away with three points. Not should have. I mean they absolutely had to to get out of Dallas with a result, because what happens is you go into a place it's a mixed lineup from Dallas, you have all these chances and then you don't score, and then they regroup. That's what good coaches do. They regroup at halftime, they tell you one, two,
three things. And it worked in the second half for Dallas. They made two good subs of guys that have made a difference for them, but they allowed them to get thirty minutes in the game and kind of changed the game for Dallas because in the first half Dallas had nothing through the middle of the park and then then all of a sudden, Iller Mandy comes in and all of a sudden, they get some passes put together, they string some
things together. They feel more confident, and when a guy like that comes on the field, everyone on the field has a boost in how they want to play. And the Sounders look tired in the last thirty minutes to me, and I think Schmetz will rue the opportunity to have made those subs early on. Even if it is a Jordan, if it is a Row, well, hey it is warm out there. It's eighty degrees right. Sounds aren't used to playing in the heat. So if you look tired, just
put your hand up and come off the field. Be honest with yourself. Yeah, I know these guys want to score, but at the end of the day, it's about the team getting three points, and I think the subs were made too late to bring in a real difference maker on I mean, JP is going to keep possession and do his thing, but I thought we maybe had the opportunity to, you know, drop Christian back, take
Obed off early, have Christian play as in eight next to JP. You know, bring bring Danny on early and put Jordan up top, or just mix it up a little bit. There's Leo Chu. Yeah, we don't know what the situation was with Leo Chew, but even Dylan TeV is right. He's coming off a big, a big game where he puts one in the back of the net, Like you got to roll with these things.
And to give a kid two minutes it's it's rarely gonna pan out. I mean, yes, it happens in soccer, but not often, right, it doesn't happen that often that a guy comes off the bench and scores within two minutes. And then those two attacking subs were made with what a total of seven minutes left in the game. It's not enough for me. And so I think the Sounders will look back and say, we root our chances in the first half and we got bit in the second half where we got
complacent and and Dallas came out a different side in the second half. Yeah, I can't argue with anything you've said. It tough. You had so many chances in a tight window in the first half. Then in the second half another similar chance between Christian's ball. Both that one and the one that went to Morris came through I think he came through Gonzalez for Jordan Morris. Did it come through Gonzalez where Morris had a late look at it. But
we had chances. Bottom lines, we had chances to put it away, and that's one that you know, I remember Ziggy Schmidt used to talk about. You'd say that might be a game we remember at the end of the season because we could have come away with three points. Instead we got the one. We'll take the one. I like Stevie's comment of two points in or four points in two games, but we had we had to do a little better on that one. We had to do a little better. And
I didn't see the cohesiveness for ninety minutes. I saw it in fifteen minute segments. I thought Masofski when he came in, he brought fresh legs. I think you're right, Brad. I think they started to get tired and maybe we could have gone earlier. Yeah. Absolutely, So it is a clean sheet for Stephan Frye. We're gonna make Stephan Frye Tonight's Toyota Man of
the Match. By the way, on Stephan Frye, important, great stat here from Kevin k. He made his three hundredth career regular season appearances for for Setle today. With that, he's become the third active player in MLS to make three hundred regular season appearances for a single club, joining Diego char with Portland and Andrew Ferrell with New England. So a third active player in this league to go three hundred with a single club. That again is active
players. So well done for Stephan fry Your local to Toyota Dealers are proud to present tonight's man of the match. Also, Sounders FC Soccer is presented by Providence, Swedish official healthcare partner of Sounders FC. We'll take a break, we'll come back and continue talking about these zero zero drop between the Sounders and Dallas down in Frisco, Texas. More next on Sports Radio at ninety three point three KJRFM. Welcome back to the postmatch show Seattle Sounders FC Dallas
zero zero final from Frisco, Texas. Oh for our Emerald Queen Casino play the match tonight. I'll be see from any scoreless match that becomes very difficult. But Stephen Fry very very good save in the forty eighth minute. You know, it was a story of game for much of the second half of the Sounders kept giving these cheap giveaways of the ball and on one of the forty eighth minutes, Dallas comes in transition and ends up having I believe it's
polariol. It takes the shot from distance and Steph and Fry comes up with a massive save. There. The play of the Match presented by Emerald Queen Casino, the betting capital of the Northwest. What should have been the Emerald Queen Casino Play the Match was the forty first minute chance Christian rolled on from Jordan Morris where Morris is working up that right side crosses into Christian because it
skips by Omar Gonzalez who kind of misplays it and cr seven. I don't know if he's not ready for it, if he just doesn't open up enough. As Brad you were talking about it. The halftime show. But that was the moment for Seattle tonight and it just didn't find its way into the net. I mean there were multiple moments though, but that one is you're sitting alone inside the box and unfortunately, I think it comes as a surprise and you'd think that Christian would do better there, and he wants that one
back. That that's the one where you go home tonight, the whole playing flight, you try to go to sleep at night and you just replay that one in the back of your mind and what could I have done better? What should I have done? You know? But then Jordan's opportunity to where he takes a touch around Ariol what would have been the goal of the week if he scores that, I think he rifles out at the keeper's face because the keeper goes down low early makes a good save, you know. But
yes, that Christian world don chance. You know, you have to anticipate versus react, and normally that's one that you expect Christian, a player of his caliber, to at least put it on frame. Yeah, he's gonna he's gonna want that back forever. He won't forget it. You can see the look on his face. It did come really quick and he didn't have a lot of time to think about it. But it's I got a question
for you, Brad's we're seven games in. Is there a time? Does it take two games, three games to get to your MLS peak where you are as sharp? Does it? How many games it take? In other words, if we're fifteen games in, does he take the touch and then bury that thing? It's all based on confidence, right If he had scored three or four before this, I think he probably has a different a different attitude. Sometimes when you feel rushed is when and you have to get goals.
You're not getting the stats that you know, you're getting paid over a million dollars a year. You're expected to score those opportunities. That's why you're on the field, and so that pressure builds up in the back of your mind. Yes, are they staying after practice to finish those the unexpected chances? Or are they just practicing and then jumping off the field because they're a veteran player and they think when they get on the field that it's just going
to hit the back of the net. So I don't know, is it the chicken or the egg? You know? But yes, you would like to be in peak form pretty quickly. But you know, five goals last week, zero this week, four points in a week. If you can carry this into a win against Vancouver, I think we're sitting pretty You're talking
about these finishing drills. I mean, I like that you brought up the thirtieth minute chance for Morris, where you know, it is a type of drill where he hops over Ario, makes his way down, you know, to the prime assistant on the west side, you know, finds his way into a really nice position, and then just hammers it right at Martin Boss's face. And it's one of those things where you can practice that drill if one of your goalkeepers on your own team is willing to take a shot at
close range at the face. And I don't know if Andrew Thomas, Stephen Fry or Jacob Castro are willing to have Jordan Morris hit a ball at that speed at that you know, seven feet away. That's why they're there, though. These backup goalkeepers are there to take a beating, right coach, I mean, that's why they're there. They are there too, and yeah, that's why the goalkeepers exactly. And so you know, you play like you practice and at the end of the day, it's about putting the ball
in the back of the net. It's a great move. I mean, it's it's it's a world class move. I mean I like I said, if it goes in the back of the net's goal of the week because of the skill it took, the awareness and if it finds the back of the net on the ground, that then we're talking about his patients in that moment to just slot the ball in the back of the net. But you know, we can always dissect these things and that'll be another one that Jordan wishes
that he has back. Absolutely. So Sounders once again zero zero against fcw Night. We'll talk about the next match coming up here in just a moment, but Delta Airlines is proud to donate one soccer ball for every mile ran by Sounders FC players this season through Ray Foundations One Mile, One Ball program. We'll talk about the Sounders coming home, who they have next on the docket. It is a tremendous team, right you're the top team in the
Western Conference. Will tell you who that is next. On Sports Radio ninety three point three KJRFM. Welcome back to the postmatch show Seattle Sounders zero FC Dallas zero final from Frisco, Texas. Jackson Phelips beat Fewing Brad Evans wrapping up the postmatch show. Let's take a look ahead what's next for your Sounders. It's gonna be coming home to lumin Field next Saturday night. Gonna be Saturday, April twentieth, seven o'clock Providence, Swedish pre match show seven o'clock
kickoff. You'll be able to listen to that match right here on Sports Radio ninety three point three KJR FM. Also l Ray thirteen to sixteen Spanish language. Watch match via MLS Season Pass on the Apple TV app as well, and get your tickets today by visiting soundersfc dot com, slash tickets. And the Vancouver Whitecaps right now are the top team in the Western Conference. They are having a tremendous start to twenty twenty four. They're right now playing at
home against the LA Galaxy zero zero twelve minutes in. Brian White and Ryan Gold Scottish messy. Those two are executing on every level. Demir Crylock, the longtime RSL, is a super sub for them. They're playing Brad right now at a very very high level top of the West. It's going to be a difficult match at home next Saturday. Yeah, I mean they're playing well right now. It's not to say that, you know, the Sounders can't put one on them next week on my birthday, which we're all on
to tonight, you know what I mean. But look, yes, I think what Vancouver has found they found their identity and they were good in twenty twelve, I want to say twenty eleven they were pretty good. They had kind of this, you know, they had Laba in the midfield and they were they were buzzing at times, and then they lost it for a while. They had a lot of turnover and guys were coming in as a stopover to get to other MLS clubs. But now they've actually splashed them cash and
they've created an identity for themselves. They know what they want to do. They play through gold and they play through white up top and he's a big bruiser. And that's kind of what I brought up at the start of the gamer at halftime was we know their identity? Do we know the Sounders identity right now? How they want to play, how they want to put the
ball in the back of the net. That's one thing that La Galaxy and Vancouver have actually got down Patton that they're doing really well this season, both of those squads. So it's going to be a difficult task for the Sounders. But I fancy our chances at home. It's an evening game, which is what you want against a rival at home. I don't like the afternoon games playing against your rival in the sun. I want that night time feel in Seattle. And you know, it's a chance for the Sounders to take
that next step forward and really implant themselves in the Western Conference. If they do that, they find themselves all of a sudden above the playoff line, with one more victory, with a game in hand. Yeah, this is a team that's rolling. I was surprised when they got rid of Julian Gressel when they traded him. My time, man, that's a key player is now with Miami, and sure he's happy to be in Messy Land, but
I thought, wow, that was a bold move. So that and then so I would give Sartini, the head coach, a lot of credit. You know, we've seen so many Brad. I bet in your ten years with the Sounders, I bet you saw six innumerable. Yeah, yeah, yeah, different coaches, and I think he's on your three or four. And he's a passionate guy. The players want to play for him and he'st just has to watch what he says after games. Yeah, he does.
He's been fine. I just looked him up. He's got a twenty thousand dollars fine from last year and was suspended spend five games, cut to two. But uh may joke about a referee dying by the way that it was. You don't do that. But but he's got a passion and that team follows his passion. And it's kind of like what we see with Brian Schmitzer. You know, you're Tuck, You're right, the identity piece. They have their identity rolling and now they have confidence and they're at the man.
When when have we seen them at the top of the West? Yeah, A long time. I don't think. I don't. Yeah, I would agree, I would agree. So for Brad's birthday, we really need to make sure we get a win. Some on seven fry too, well, how about that. I mean it's all set up perfectly now the team just needs to execute and get it done against a great team. Obviously, it's
podnight. It's gonna be a great nine out there Whale Pod. That's why we have Kee Dunning right here, but Sounders FC dot Com slash tickets to be there. It's gonna be a fun atmosphere here. So we will see you out there next Saturday for Sounders and Vancouver. Whyecaups once again seven o'clock
