Welcome to the Sounders F Seed pre mad Show presented by Provident Swedish. Tonight, you're Seattle, Sounders FC faced the Philadelphia Union. The Provident Swedish premad show starts now. Well. For the first time in Sounders FC history, tonight, the Rave Green will resume a previously kicked off match mid game. Yes, way back on March ninth, Seattle was right where they are right now, playing in kicking balls right around SUPERU Park in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

And in the sixth minute back on March ninth, the match was stopped because well, frankly, the entire field turned into a pool of water. The rain was not stopping. They called the match in the sixth minute. So here we are April thirtieth, a month and a half later. It's the same teams on the same field. There is no rain. We have heard that there may be a thunderstorm rolling through, which would just be you know,

a higher power saying can you not play this match? But we will see what happens over the next couple hours as the Sounders in Philadelphia Union try to play this rescheduled and resumed match from March ninth. So welcome in to the Sounder's FC pre match show presented by Providence just the official healthcare partner of Seattle Sounders FC. My name is Jackson Feltz. I'm alongside Pete Fewing today. Danny Jackson and the captain Brad Evans will have the call for kickoff in

just over a half hour. But Pete, as we begin today, Yes, it's a rescheduled match. There's lots of interesting elements going into the lineup and the substitutions and how many subs are left and who is available and who isn't available, YadA, YadA, YadA. We'll get into all of that in a moment. While this is a rescheduled match, this is just another game on the schedule, and it comes after back to back losses. Why

Caps at home DC United on Saturday. And you know, if these guys are having the true, you know, hard no Sounder mentalities, they gotta be frustrated, they gotta be determined to come out and end this losing streak. Yeah, no question. You know. Brian Schmetzer used to say when he was an assistant coach, he always fears teams that are desperate. I think Seattle. I don't know if desperate is exactly the right word or the

mentality of the team. I don't know that they they they've had a lot of confidence because of their ability, but they're in a position where their backs are against the wall, not a bit against the wall, their backs are against the wall, and guys have to perform. And so Andrew Thomas, the starting goalkeeper tonight, said, hey, the good news after the DC game is that we get to play on Tuesday. So anytime you know an MLS game is gonna start, it gives the team a chance to reboot.

And this team needs to reboot. They do. I think that, you know, I think it might have been Brad that said it during the postmatch show of DC Night on Saturday, they need to wait, or maybe it was I forget who it was. We said we need to wake up. This team needs to wake up because we're getting to a point in the season where we are are so far back now that you need to start getting some

points. And listen, I know you'll reference twenty sixteen and say the team made an incredible run that was assisted by you know, a new coach and Nicol Ldero, and I'm not sure they have that this year. If that's coming, so you gotta get the points right now. So we will see if the Sounders can get going here tonight in Philadelphia against the Union, and they will get going in the sixth minute with a throw in. Weirdly enough,

this has this match has a lot of weirdness to it. And on that note, let's transition and let's let's start talking about that weirdness, Pete. So let's get to the Delta starting eleven for the Sounders. That is very much like the Delta starting eleven from March ninth. Yeah, this is a no brainer for the coaching staf Right. That's they had no choice, so they had to start the same lineup they started at the last Philadelphia game. So it's four two, three to one. Andrew Thomas backing goal.

It's fifth start for him. Alex rolled On, you're right back, reaganmas Androtti, your center backs knew who your left back. Obed and Josh Atensio sit in the middle of the park, and then Jordan Morris on the right, Chew on the left, Christian Muldoon will sit right underneath Rawell. Really Dias up front. So the one player of those eleven who did not start

on March ninth was Jemargomez Androtti. Gomez Androtti. That was the first game he had back that he was kind of be working his way into the team at the start of the year, So that was the first game he was returning for the Sounders and he was on the bench. Thank goodness he was because the starting center back opposite Jackson Reagan for that March ninth game was Javier Ariaga. And for those who did not know, Hobbyer, Ariaga was traded

to the New England Revolution in a trade last week. So in this circumstance, what Seattle is allowed to do is move a player from the bench to the starting lineup. How easy is that? It's Jamargomez Androte fits very easily. Now. The interesting thing, too, is that when you then if you have players who aren't available due to injuries or et cetera, you can then bring in players who were on your club's roster at the day of the game. So right now, the Sounders are able to put Joel Paulo and

Albert Russknack onto the bench for today's game. Both players were injured on March ninth, but because they were on the club roster, they are able to go onto the bench for today's game. Now, if Brian Schpenzer was to make a substitute for one of them, that counts as one of the five subs. But Yamar does not count as one of the five subs. Seattle has the five substitutes left to use at all of their three occasions, Yamar

does not count. And Pete viewing all of that to say, I mean, your subs are Jacob Castro, John Bell, Cody Baker, Joel Paulo, Albert Russnack is mentioned, Danny Leva, Dylan TeVeS, Paul Rothrock. It's a strong team. Christian rolled on in the middle, you know, in that kind of Albert Russnack number ten role. I really like the roster

that we have here. It's just kind of going back to the same thing that we've been talking about for weeks now, which is execution and needing these players to execute because the talent, as we see the eleven, the talent is here. Pete, Yeah, no question, and I'm excited for Christian Roldan to get that spot underneath the ruideas we've seen him be effective, score

as many as seven goals in an MLS season. He just hasn't been that high up the field and with that kind of freedom without maybe as much defensive responsibility. So I think it's a good opportunity for him, and they're looking for something to kick start this. You know, this is a bit out landish of a thought, but I'd love to see Christian get two goals in a game, right, It would be just great. He hasn't gotten any yet, so that's a bit much, but I'd love to see him combined

with Ruideas. I'd love to see him sit in that little hole when the wingers get to the end line and cut it back. He's capable of scoring. He's a good finisher, so I like that he's got that opportunity, and he's smart. He knows, you know, if he likes that position and he goes and performs, then he may get to stay in that spot. So it's a good it is. It's a great lineup. It's a

lineup that we can be optimistic about, no question. And Andrew in goal, Andrew Thomas has been you can't fault him for any of the goals that have gone in. So it's a great opportunity for him to start again. And you know, they've got to roll the ball out and play. And there's some guys that Rually Diaz would be great to see him again. He's got four goals under his belt, so now if he can get you know,

get going. It's an important game tonight. Their backs are a bit against the wall, as they said earlier, and but all to play for this isn't This is a good lineup. It's not one that they're piecemealing together or trying to fit into a you know, three games an eight days lineup. Well, the thing about the DC game on Saturday was the fact that they came out looking very good. They scored that goal early on. Leo Chu had the header that you know, redirected there off the post. It

was a great goal, it was a great build up. And then Leo Chu has to come off the field because Stephen Fry gets that red carding against d C. Right and you know, and we heard from Brian Schmester that Leo chew Is is determined. He wants to go out there and have another good performance. He showed good things down the left wing against DC, and you know, it's the same situation where he has Morris, you know,

be able able to combine on the right. Christians in there too. Christian was right back for DC United. You have a roll up top, there's a lot of weapons on the offensive end. But for Leo Chew, it just does feel like, you know, all right, kid, like you had you had the goal against DC. Keep it going. You're gonna play more than thirty minutes this time. We need to see what we saw in

that thirty minutes over the course of sixty seventy eighty minutes. Well, and if you go back to the beginning of last season, Chew on the left and Morris getting on the end of his crosses was very effective. Y right. Most of Morris's eight goals came on Chow's assists at the beginning of the

year early on. So if that can get clicking again, if Chew can get down the wing, get his crosses in, get his service in, and Jordan Morris can pinch in, come through the box, get an extra set of numbers through the box, that was a very effective tool last year. Really quickly, we'll dive into the Providence Swedish team health report following players are out today. You have Danny Mazowski, who suffered a hip injury during

that game against DC United, he is out with the hip injury. Nathan suffered an injury late in training last week and he was unable to play in the DC game, and he's unable to play in this game. It's a quad injury. Braudilio Rodriguez has the hamstring injury. He's out. Reed Baker Whiting has the hamstring injury. He was questionable, but he is out today. And then Peter dale Vega, as you all know, he suffered that new lower hamstring injury on the same leg a couple of weeks ago. We

hope he can make it back in the next two to three weeks. We'll get more updates from from Brian Schmeensterer at training probably later this week as well. The team health report is presented by Provident, Swedish official healthcare partner of Sounders FC Pete. The other thing about this lineup that stands out to me is the fact that going back to March ninth, it was a four to four two and at the time you had Jordan playing all the way up top.

We're all kind of in that, you know, right underneath this is a four two three one. You have Christian roll Don sliding inside and I'm sure going back to your days at Seattle University, you face the University of Washington, when Christian rolled On played in that number ten role. He was a star with the Huskies in this same spot he's playing today. Yeah, No, he's very familiar with it and he's had a lot of success. Yeah, he was for the Huskies. He was the best player on the

field every time we played him. And yeah, he can get forward, he can take people on, he runs well off of people, and he can shoot. You know, this kid can shoot from the edge of the box. We've seen him score some crackers. So he's good on you know, corner kicks as well. He's good in the air, so he can get on the court. He can get on the end of crosses, whether it's the run of player or set piece. But I think Christian tonight this

will give him a little extra juice. I think he's looking forward to it. This and the fact that they've just come off another tough loss at d C. So, you know, and he's he's a leader on this team. He's captain today. That's a good thing for him, yep. And so great opportunity for him to you know, take advantage of being in that position. It absolutely is for Christian there. We know knew who's back. It was a dis plnary matter the reason why he was not available for the

DC match. But he is back in there, starting at left back today as he did start there on March ninth, from that left back position. But hopefully we see a determined Sounders group. We know both teams benches are strong. Seattle's bench mentioned has both. You have both Joel Poulo and Albert Russknack available in this game. They were not available back on March ninth, but thankfully all of the weird MLS rules when it comes to rescheduled and resumed

games allows you to have a strong bench today. But DC's is also very strong. And as for DC, we'll take a break. We'll come back and talk about the host today. It Subaru Park in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. This is a very very good Union team. We'll all talk about that. We are just about twenty eight minutes away from kick at Subaru Park. Today's count down to kickoff is presented by Emerald quin Casino, the entertainment capital of

the Northwest. We'll talk about the Philly Union that's next on the Providence, Swedish prematch show sports Radio at nine to fifty KJR. Welcome back to the Providence, Swedish premat show Seattle Sounders in Philadelphia to take on the Philly Union tonight and last segment, I got my brains a little bit wired and crossed because DC was Saturday. Philadelphia is tonight on this East Coast road swing. In terms of this road swing, you're gonna hear from Jordan Morris last week at training talking about this road trip, needing to get results on it. Unfortunately, a result

did not come in DC on Saturday. Hopefully the Sounders can get at least a point tonight in Philadelphia against a very very good Union team. And it's time for today's Sharp Vision Opponent ALC taking a look at the Philadelphia Union. Today's Opponent ALICK is presented by Sharp Vision, Modern LASC and Lens, the

official Lasik provider of Sounders FC. This is a Union team. Last year they finished fifteen to ten and nine, fourth place in the East with fifty five points, two more than the This year a little bit of a hot and warm start. They're only seventh place in the conference right now, but that's mostly because they've only played eight matches due to this rescheduled game. They

also made it to the Round of sixteen and CONCACAF Champions Cup. But the important thing to know p is the fact that they've lost one match all year. That came this last weekend to real Salt Lake, and that loss was only their second loss at home since the start of the twenty twenty three season at Subaru Park. The Union are excellent. Yeah, it's a very good

team that they're organized. It's interesting their twelve goals, that's all their goals come from the nine to ten and sixth spot right down right in the middle. They're not getting much production from any of the defenders, any of the wide players as far as goals. They're getting assists. Sullivan has assists on the right hand side, but their goals come from their Caranza upfront and Ure

and Gazdag. That's where all their goals come from. So when you're sort of doing your scouting report, you say, okay, let's make sure it's a good opportunity for Josh and Obed to make sure that they keep those guys out of the mix. But it's surprising they are having the success three, one and four, and yet their goal differential they've scored twelve given up fourteen, So they've given up a lot of goals and that's something that Seattle has

to get a little bit of confidence from as well. You definitely, I mean you mentioned Karan's there last segment, we talked about the Sounders' roster dynamics and how it wasn't a sub to be able to have Jamargum Androtti starting in place of Hobby or Ariyaga, who is traded for Philadelphia's. Meanwhile, it's slightly different because they also are suffering some injuries. Andre Blake, one of the they're tremendous goalkeeper, he's injured, so Oliver Sennis gets the start today.

That's a backup goalkeeper. He knows how the Sounders have Andrew Thomas, but we're at the point where Andrew Thomas. I mean, if there's any difference with Stephen Fry in terms of quality, it's not much. Andrew Thomas tremendous goalkeeper as scene andrews. You know, Oliver Semi is definitely a step down from Andre Blake, I would say. Also, it's a lineup that we know exactly who's in there. It's Jack Elliott, you know, tremendous center back. He's in there as well. You know, Jose Martinez is

one of their defending midfielders who's very good. You mentioned Gazdak, but you also mentioned Kranza. So here's the interesting dynamics for Philadelphia, Julian Caranza was not on their bench and not in the starting lineup for the March ninth game because they have one of their forwards who did start in that March ninth game

is currently injured. They had they were able to replace a player from the bench to the lineup, just like Gomez androte for Ariaga, but Philadelphia said, well, way, we now have Julian Carnza who's healthy and he's you know, are our key striker. We need to get him in there. So what they are able to do now that he's healthy is put him from the club roster onto the bench for tonight's game. But he's actually going to start tonight's game at the five twenty eight mark and it will count as a

sub. So he's in the lineup right now, and at this very second, at four nineteen pm Pacific time, the Philadelphia Union have all five subs left. The moment that we have a throw in at the five minute and twenty second mark, when this game restarts, Philadelphia will instantly have four subs left because Toronso will be on the field. If that made sense to you, congratulations, because I had to say that to myself about four times for

it to make sense, Pete, Yeah, it's it's complicated. I mean, if you're I can just imagine a like a conference call with the league and the coaching staffs, you know, maybe all three of them together, right, and saying okaywait say that again, start a little exactly. Tell me, yeah, how about we just play ninety minutes and we put who we want on the field and we both agree and let's get going. But

yeah, it is what it is. That's that's kind of a unique scenario and it's kind of stretches the brain for the coach's staff and the players. And you've done a very good job of explaining it, so we'll keep moving forward. Yeah. No, in two fair Philadelphia, we mentioned last segment that they have a strong bench. They have a very strong bench andnro Bodoya is on there. You have Kay Wagner on there as well. He's a tremendous fullback who can get up and do a lot in their attack. Jack

McGlenn as well is a tremendous midfielder. There is a lot of firepower on Philadelphia, not only in their starting lineup, which again has lost one match this year, two matches at home in the last year and a half, but also on the bench there. So got to watch out for the union today. This will be a very tough game for your Sounders on the road at Subaru Park. But it's time to get into our Western Washington Honda Dealers players to watch and find out who will drive good today. Pete, who

do you see driving a good performance today for the Sounders? Well, it's more just hope. I want to see Christian rolled on. I want to see him for him, Yeah, I want him to see him have a great game to I'd like to see him a very mobile. I'd like to see him playoff real ideas get through the box, finding some pockets of space

inside the box and play with a little bit of freedom. You know, this is a game where he's he's got the least amount of freedom, the most amount of freedom, excuse me, the most amount of freedom that he's had this season as far as positionally, because he's part of the attack and he's if he can find pockets of space where you can turn and go out. People play Chew, play Morris Wide, get through the box. I'm just hoping he plays with a lot of energy and joy tonight. I love

that you know, I think I think that's a great shout. You said Hope at the start there. Yeah, my brain first went to is do we have a player named Hope that I'm yessing well? And honestly, when I say Joy, that means he's having success. Yeah, he's having fun. He's being confident, he's getting his shots. He's taken some chances that he might not take, so he's gonna play with his usual grit. I'd love to see him, you know, strip some defenders of balls and start

a quick transition attack in the defensive third. Don't let get out. So I'm just opening he plays free tonight and gets some quality opportunities and puts him away for me. Leo Chu scored against d C in that game the last weekend and had to come out of the game because a Fry's red card. He's got to have that fight and determination to show that, you know, that rush that wasn't just a little spurt, it wasn't just a one time

thing. Needs to have that consistency. It's the Leo Chu question that we've been talking about for years now. It's consistency. We need to continue to see what we saw against DC tonight for that fifty sixty seventy. However many minutes he plays. Want to see that from Leo Chew here tonight. Well, that's who we think will drive a good performance today for your Sounders, and now is the time to drive a Honda. Don't wait. Stop by

your local Western Washington Honda dealer today and drive good. We'll take a break here on the Providence, Swedish premat show. Jordan Morris before the DC game applies you know to this entire road trip. So here was Jordan Morris at training first talking about what the team is feeling right now, what are things like coming off of that loss, Needing to get results here moving into this next part of the season. Yeah, we know that we have to turn the results around our else the season's gonna slip

away quickly. So we again it's it's game by game. We know this stretch is huge and playing two games on the road against really good teams, it's not going to be easy. So yeah, we just got to come together and we understand the importance of it. Jordan's taking it takes us into the vibe of the team right now. What are things like inside the locker room for you guys right now? Yeah, it's tough, honestly frustrated. Uh yeah, I don't I don't know. It's not a not the best

vibe right now. So we gotta find a way to turn that around. But we gotta work hard. And the only thing to look for is is obviously look into the into the future, looking at the next games and and try to write the ship a little bit. But it's been a tough road.

Obviously, there haven't been many stretches like this since you've been with the team, but even being back to like twenty sixteen, right in the middle of that season, But like you know, can you draw upon those times we've been roughs like this and try to get out of it with those times? For sure? Yeah, I think you can look at twenty sixty as

a perfect example. We were even farther into the season and in last place, so obviously we don't want to get to that point, but you can look at that and and try to figure out what we did there to turn it around, and you know, look at that recipe and try to try to emulate it, you know, And and I think, yeah, we went on to win a championship that year, so there's still everything to play for. We gotta obviously take a game by game, a really tough road

trip ahead. It's not going to get any easier for us, and it's on us to turn it around. So yeah, I think if we look at twenty sixteen, we can hopefully use that as inspiration to push forward and know there's still at a lot left to play for him. It's Jordan Morris out at training last week, Pete talking about this road trip and obviously losing to DC last Saturday, knowing that they need to get results. It sort

of puts even more pressure on tonight's match in Philadelphia. The one thing I've always noticed with the team is that they do enjoy going on the road. And you're not talking a massive difference distance excuse me, between the DC game in this one, so you're not airborne for long periods of time. It's just a quick jaunt, right, So they get a chance to be together.

They get this small group as opposed to the larger group back home when everybody else is training as well, they get to kind of sort themselves out a lot of conversations, whether it's with your roommate, whether it's at meals and I, like Jordan said, Hey, it's a tough moment right now, and tough moments create opportunities for better moments. So they've got to they've got to pull themselves together. There are leaders on this team. There's a

lot of veteran players. This is a good starting eleven and they've got to walk out and each guy's got to take a lot of pride in their performance tonight and their quality tonight and their grit. They've got to go and try to keep a clean sheet for Andrew Thomas, and then they got to go get their goals. But we're certainly capable. Look at the front four that are attacking Chew and Morris on the wings and Christian and Raoul, those guys

they're capable. So the guys at the back have to do a great job. They've got to take care of the three. Uh you know in the spine that they've gotten all the goals for Philadelphia and it's a and it's a good opportunity Chew didn't play a lot, got a goal, but didn't play a lot of minutes because he had to come off, and so they I think they should be you know, Raoul and Morris each had half a game, so uh lots to play for tonight to write this ship. We'll take

one more break here in the pre match show. We'll come back, give you the keys to this match and the history betwe in Seattle and Philadelphia. That's next on the Providence, Swedish prematch show Sports Radio nine fifty kjr AM. Tonight's Countdown and ko Office presented by Emerald Queen Casino, the entertainment capital of the Northwest. The Union and Sounders they fossed off twelve times in the regular season since the Union joined MLS in twenty ten, but these teams have not met since twenty nineteen. Seattle holds a four to five and three record in those twelve contests, but have failed to win in

Philadelphia in the regular season three and three record there. However, going back to the twenty fourteen Lamar Hunt US Open Cup Final, Brad, were you on the yeah you played in that Open Cup final that won the title there in Philadelphia. That was a win that brought the Sounders one of their four US Open Cup championships since joining MLS there in two thousand and nine. All right, Pete Night's match, what are your key to this match here tonight?

Well, you're playing a team that doesn't lost very much at home, as you mentioned earlier, so defending not giving them opportunities. Seattle's mentality right now is in a tough spot, so you don't want to give up on anything early. You certainly don't want to get a red card because we've been stung by that a lot lately. So you've got to get settled into the game. Oh, Bed and Josh have to win the center of the park and then they've got to They've got to distribute it. Get the balls wide

to Morris so he can take people on. Morris has to get on the end of Choos crosses. Chow has to get on the end of Morris's crosses. Christian's got to get through the box. Rolls got to get through the box. No unnecessary fouls, don't give Philly a chance to pack the box with their defenders and they've got to be What I'm saying is they've got to have a very clean game back to front right and starting with the defense,

don't give Philly any opportunities. And then and then they've got to that front four really has to be dynamic and move like they did against Montreal when they got five goals in one game. There's great moment off the ball, there's good wing play and guys were getting through the box. So they've got to finish, but it does going to start with defence. Now time for Sounders FC soucker Good evening from Subaru Park on the banks of the Delaware River, where your Sounders face the Philadelphia Union of the Eastern Conference. Again. To remind everyone how we got to this replayed match. In the original game on March ninth, the game was canceled early in the game due to torrential rain and a flooded field. The game could not be played the

next day, as is customary due to Philadelphia's midweek game in Mexico. So here we are tonight. We start at the five minute twenty eight second mark where the game left off. We kick off with a throw in, and whichever players are on the field of March ninth must start the game, other

than those that are injured or missing. It's all very strange, but maybe something unique is what the Sounders need this season, and in the city of brotherly Love, where the US Constitution was signed, the Sounders need a little inspiration as a seek a fresh start to this campaign with a win. My

Name's Danny Jackson in the booth tonight with former Sounders captain Brad Evans. So let's get you the Delta, starting eleven for your Sounders Andrew Thomas and gol A back forth, Alex roldn Jeamark, Reagan Knew who var gets an attensia in the middle, Jordan Morris on the right, Roll Don in the ten tonight, Leo Chew on the left, and Rail Rudiaz So Brad. Before we get to Philadelphia's lineup, we're just gonna look at what's going on now.

The ball's dead on the deck five yards inside the Philadelphia half. The game's about to get started. Joe Digginson's the referee. Here we go. They're going to launch it into the box and then Sounders the first thing they gonna have to do is defend a long free kick from inside the half. I've never seen anything like it. You explain it. We might as well be watching NFL football. It was a proper kickoff from distance, pin the team back, and now the play starts. So I've never been involved in

anything like this. It's interesting to watch. Right, you think you're going to have a proper kickoff, and then all of a sudden. The Sounders are set up inside their own box. All of a sudden, Philly's got to throw in. But its mentality at this point, right, it's how do you approach this game? Here's a long throw deep into the six yard box, half clear by the sound has picked up top of the box by Ruy Diaz, who just drops it off to roll down on the far side

the right. He's going to decide to launch it down. The line up in the air goes Philadelphia knocks it long, Jackson Reagan lets it roll out of bound. Jackson Reagan, of course in the lineup tonight because he wasn't in the lineup back of March ninth, miss Saturday's game against DC due to a one game suspension due to a red card. He launches it long to the far side, bounces over and out for a Philadelphia throw. So let's

get you the Philadelphia lineup. They've got a couple more changes, Sem laying

goal. He comes in for Blake who is injured. About four of Bezu Glesnz that comes in for Damian Love, Jack Elliott and Harry L the midfield four Brno Martinez, Gazdag and Sullivan and then a forward line of Or and Carranza, as Jackson and Fellas explained, was not in the squad tonight, moved himself from the squad to the bench, and then Jim Curtin, the head coach for Philadelphia, decided to make the move put his starman on the

line up. But that did count as a substitution, an official substitution in the game versus those that are injured. So Brad must win tonight. Brian Schmiz just talked about backso against a wall. They need to believe that fighting gainst all the nasayers out there, but inside the locker room, they believe that it's a must win tonight or is it just business as usual, try and grind out a result. Yeah, I think it's a must win tonight.

I think at the start of every season you kind of ear mark games, and this was always going to be a difficult one going to Philly, But then you look at it and you go a couple road games and you think you might pick up a result. Well, the bottom line is, if you want to make the playoffs, you have to win at least half your games on the road. You can't just rely on winning games at home and the Sounders haven't done that. They haven't won at home. So yes,

this is a must win game for the Sounders. They got to come out in tense and I know that the team suffered a difficult defeat in DC, but they played a good second half and that's something that they'll have to lean on tonight. But at the end of the day, it's about getting results because if you don't, you can't just roll out the same lineup week after week and not get results. That's insanity at some point. And so

it is about time for the Sounders to put something together. And like you said, though, it doesn't have to be pretty, but it does have to be effective. Philadelphia, and he picked the ball up this near side. They're right. The Carranza comes towards top of the eighteen, clipped away by Vargas, who puts it over the end line for an early corner kick for Philadelphia. Here in the ninth minute, it's Philadelphia nil Sounders nil.

Sounders in the anniversary kit tonight, green shirts with blue pinstripes the shorts and white socks. They're attacking the goal to our left and then Philadelphia all in navy blue, just as they were in March ninth. They're attacking the goal to our right. They have a corner kick this near side their right hand side. It's gonna be Bruno, who has not started game and played any meaningful minute since Pachuca's six Noel demolition of Philadelphia way back in March. That

was that midweek game where Philadelphia traveled to Mexico for CCL game. But it comes sound as in transition. Can Attenio open up those legs? He can just week ball. It was five versus one, and of course the Sounders luck this season. Brad Evans. The only player it finds is Bezo, the Philadelphia defender. Well, you're watching this run from up top and it is it's five y one for the Sounders, and how do you not connect

that next pass? What an opportunity. Ten minutes into this game, Intensial gets fortune in on a touch and I think he just takes a little bit too much time there. I don't think, I know he took a little bit too much time. But that's one where you got a counter attack. And you can see Yamar before that in the corner kick is talking with Andrew Thomas. They're gonna push Raoul up. They're gonna push Lao Chu and find that quick outlet and play a bit more counter attacking and start to push the

ball into Philadelphia's half. Christian Rolldon playing in that ten, as Pete Fung was talking about, he played there for the University of Washington. Of course played here for the Sounders as well as fill In's over to, but there was a period of time he played in that number ten. Got a number of goals just a few seasons ago, and his dynamic play certainly what the

Sounders could do with playing away from home. As Philadelphia pick it up in their half for the field, they just clip it to this near side the right to Sullivan, feisty fast winger playing on that right hand side had to bayzu in A. That's a Glasnez who came onto the field for love.

He was on the bench on March ninth, missed out on the playoffs, picked up an injury just right before the twenty twenty three playoffs where they lost a heartbreaker early on as Alex royal Dhan has it on the right hand side, and if you read the news today, Alex Roldan did get an extra

game suspension for that red card. But again this is one of those strange situations where this game in essence is the March ninth game, and so that one game suspension will carry forward to the LA Galaxy game this coming Sunday, therefore allowing him to play tonight. As Vargas picks it up middle of the field, quick little ball to rolls it into Ruy Diaz, closed down quickly

by gles Nez. Ball given away by the Sounds, But it comes Ruidiaz, just as he's done all season, showing the players on the field the effort. And I was mentioning to Craig Wiball after the last home game when sound has got red card against filled up Vancouver, giving away cheaply by the Sounders, here comes new good tracking down by Gazdek. Well, step over, let's the ball roll over the end line, goalkick Sounders remains nil. Neil, But I was saying, ral ruy Diaz took off his cleats,

putting them back on at the end of the game. Stretch warmed up and did some running, and that is the type of senior leadership you need. Yeah, well, I think you know, we were watching it up from above, and I thought he was just gonna leave and get in his car. He'd be so upset. But kudos to Raoul and putting that extra effort in after the game to get his fitness in. He knows that there's still

something there that's left and I know that. Jordan said, Hey, it's difficult to be in this locker room, but at the end of the day, it is about getting results and it's the little things now that are going to carry over. So it's watching Raoul due extra fitness. You know, it's a guy staying extra after practice and staying positive. Mental error. I knew who he did a step over, but it actually came off Vargas.

Now it's a corner kick this near side the right, whipped in by Breno, headed clear by Yemar in tonight's lineup for Oriago, who of course moved on to New England a week ago. Misclntrolled by knew who. As the ball rolls out just this near sight right in front of Jim Curtin Breno who lets it go. Le's Bezo kind of step forward the Philadelphia right Beck Who's going to toss it in. Sounders haven't been productive in first half this season.

The ten games have only scored in three games in that first half, so Sounders need to make sure they execute on the chances they get, especially away from home. As Brian schmetz A mentioned in preparation for this game, DC United was one game they plugged their holes pretty well and Sounders came out in the second half well, even with ten men. Here comes Rudds saw the goalkeep off the line of water goal all of fifty yards out, and

that's the magic that the sound is needed. And it's ral Ruedi as a giveaway in the middle of the field. The goalkeeper was off his line and Raoul finds the back of the net. Well, my next comment was gonna be the keeper's got it. You gotta ask some questions with Blake being out of the lineup, and that is just different level from Raoul. A quick turnover, who goes, who steps, who doesn't go, who doesn't step?

With the center back in the defensive mid gets popped out from a corner kick, and all of a sudden, the keeper's looking left and right, rundering where the ball's at and he's caught no man's land and that's just clinical. We can't even get the replay up yet because It's happened so fast. Just a fantastic finish from that awareness. And we saw that in preseason. We went down there and watched training and he'll turn and hit one from fifty

yards just to test the keeper. And that's a keeper coming into the lineup that he'll be dreaming about that one for a long long time. But now the Sounders have to capitalize on this one moment of magic from ral Rudiez. We see the replay. It was just a cheap giveaway by filled Elphie just rolls it into Martinez, he takes his eye off the ball and Raul just comes up and just whips it around Semle in the goal and finds the back of the net. And that's exactly what the Sounds needed. Now it's about

making sure they defend this lead. It's new who against Martinez towards the end line, rolls over the end line, the system referee puts his flag up, goalkick Sounders here in the fifteenth minute after a wonderful strike from ral Rudiez, it's Philadelphia Nails sound as one bred Evans. And what that does for you as a player on the field right you're thinking, okay, DC United.

We got one early just around the same time as we watch his replay again, a careless backpass, a bad touch of Martinez and it actually doesn't even go over the goalkeeper. It goes completely around him, ten fifteen feet around the keeper, and he's already outside of his box. His starting position is outside of his box, thinking it's just I'm an outlet, nice easy passed back to the keeper. But then all of a sudden, what happens

if you're not the outlet and you get caught. He couldn't even attempt to make a save there because it'd be a handball and probably a red card sent off there. So you know, just the awareness from Raoul, and that's why he's in the lineup, right, That's what Schmetz will say after the game, because there is no other player on this Sounders roster that's even thinking about that at that time. Well, that's why he's in the lineup.

His attitude, as we mentioned as something that Ryan Schmetzer is coaching staff, and all the players of notice coming into preseason disappointing enter his campaign last year,

and Jordan Morris found himself in that number nine. Raoul was on the bench sitting alongside nicolo'dero in those playoff games and there's last games of the regular season, but he decided to pull up his socks, roll up his sleeves, come into preseason with the right attitude, fit, raring to go, and five goals on his season so far is exactly what the Sounders were hoping for and for Raoul tonight, this is something for the Sounders to fight for

now. The question that's been battered around is the Sounders have had these leads as they did in DC, and they withered at times against pressure, made silly mistakes, maybe some bad calls from the referee. But tonight it's about just find a way to get the three points. Yeah. We talked to Schmtz before this in our media little conference and we asked, okay, is it about winning games or is it just about winning halfs? Right? And I think the mindset now is, hey, we're up one nothing. Okay,

you can take a breath for a second. But reality is this team probably hasn't lost back to bout games in Philly and we don't know how long Keiley can pull that up for us, but it's probably been a long time. So it's an athletic team in Philly. They're gonna come out and press. But now, yes, you could take a breath for a second, and I think in your mind you're thinking, Okay, we got this one. Now, let's not let this one slip away. Let's play a good

solid rest of this half. There's only thirty minutes left in this half. Well, I can tell you one loss so far this season was last week. Of course, there's less Saturday against RSL. One loss in the twenty twenty three season. Zero losses in twenty two. As Jordan Morris runs down the right hand side, got some time and space, cuts the top of the box stripe by roll Don as Martinez, who came back put him off. He skied it all the way up and over to the very top the

stand behind the goal. It's a goal kick, but a good break by the sound is another chance for Christian Roldon. Well, that's why Jordan's on the right hand side, because his speed does kill and it's a great ball from Alex releasing him and Jordan's in a position where he is so fast that he doesn't have to be in line with the back line to make a difference.

He can start two or three yards off. Well, that makes it really difficult for a center back because now the left back has to make a play on the ball, and the center back's thinking, well, I got a cover, I can't get too close and roll Don obviously would like to have that one back. It's a good layoff top of the box. That's what you're supposed to do as a winger. Right. All the center backs

drop into the six. It's a forty five degree ball back. Unfortunate Rolldan just leans back a little bit too much and sends it twenty rows into the stands. Well. Brian Schmidtz talks about there's some of most metrics that he's trying to challenge his team with, one of them being get four guys into the box an a type of breakaway and that time they did. Sounds pick

it up on the giveaway again, well played by Leo Chu. Tries to dribble through two players, could have laid it off to the right hand side and here come the Union in transition trying to flick it from sense to the far side to left, a roll out of bounds for a Sounders throw and this web Brad. It's about time management, game management, even this early on. It's just about taking some of this thing out of the game. Yeah, I'm not sure. Philly's kind of getting caught and that's in the

center of the park. There's been a lot of open gaps and usually that's Philly strong suit is sitting with two and really being generals in the midfield. And tonight now Lao Chu picking up yet another one. That's where Raoul picked up one. So Philly caught sleeping here twenty minutes into this half and Sounders have to capitalize in right, you gotta find the open man, make the next pass, because there's still a good team. They're going to recover well.

But if the Sounders move the ball one two touch, they should be able to slice these defensive midfielders. If they're not going to press and give us a ball right, get forward, put them under pressure. Well, there's no time to rest. Who picks a ball, that plays it to Corunza, who goes back. So Harry l on that far side the left given away again cheaply by Philadelphia. Not what the typical Jim Curtain side does.

They usually so efficient. So much success in Jim Curtain's reign over his period came in of twenty seventeen, twenty eighteen, and it's been success ever since. Really for Jim Curtner. As it shifts it with glesn As the center of far side the left, overlapping run by Harryel he receives that ball comes back to Martinez, who miscontrols it once again. It was his giveaway for Raoul's goal. As a ball gets shifted it's near side the right to

Sullivan, overlapping run by Bezu towards the end line. Sullivan looked past him, flicks it in headed clear by Jackson. Reagan connected roll done to Vargas, sounded keeping decent possession, given away cheaply by Ruy Diaz. Here come Union again. Pick it up center of the park. It's gazdag to Ua closed down well by Yama and again by Yemar. Goes out the far side for a filled ill for your throw. I think Yemar Jackson still try to

find their feet this season. Haven't played up to the standard and level that they played last year's. Gazda goes down to the deck holding his face.

There was a collision that looked like potentially off the ball with Vargas. Vargas is perplexed as he talks to the referee Joe Dickinson, which, by the way, when you talk about keeping the same eleven players on the field, the three referees is the assistant referee, assistant referees and the new referee all different as well, so they made the change to see a replay there, guys that goes down and Joe Dixon just taking a moment having a conversation with

the experienced and dynamic Philadelphia number ten. Well, I think it's a case of Vargas is turning to see if he needs to mark someone that's going to be on his back, and then it's incidental contact. You see, there's no reaction from the Philly player at all, so no complaint there. It's not an elbow that was risen up, nothing intentional, and the Sounders play on. But I think Philadelphia will be a little bit disappointed. Longorrow comes

in, cleared by Yamar. Top of the box comes to Bruno, shot block, miscontrol again by Martinez. Has been not secure in his first and second touch as Rodin picks up, plays it to the far side the right

to Jordan Morris. He's gonna cut inside, flick it with the outside of his right foot, strides forward middle of the park, comes to this near sight to Leo Chow five yards outside the box, overlap and run by Vargas, looks past him, eventually comes back to Vargas there he is on the left hand side inside the channel, comes towards his right foot, co the to a far post. What's a wonderful finish, oh, Ben Vargas. His first goal this season, his first goal for the Sounders, and what

a finish, And what a start by the Sounders in Philadelphia. It's the Union nil Sounders too well, what a break for the Sounders. Again, my comment before was gonna be Jim Kurn will be disappointed with how deep the center backs are playing for Philadelphia Union, allowing so much space for Raoul to drop back, turn, receive playout play Jordan, and this one comes all the way back from the Sounders on eighteen, finds Leo chu here and it's

just good timing right, not forcing the plays what we've seen. And then he takes a touch inside it's shoot all day long from there far posts and curls it in And our initial view was that's the only option there and he's corner of the eighteen going left to right and it's a perfect strike into the back of the net. It doesn't have to be in the top corner, it doesn't have to be hit hard, it just has to be placed perfect.

And on that one, Oh but Nailsey. You see the celebration from the guys now, and that'll do something for the Sounders' confidence to go well. What you don't want for an opposition is having the tails up for a team like the Sounders. Yes, they've had bad results, but as we've always mentioned, the quality is there, the experiences there, and can the Sounders add to this two goal lead? Two goals in the first half has

not happened for the Sounders. Montreal was a five zero demolition which those goals came in the second half as Philadelphia have it with Sullivan right in front of Brian Schmitz, a good tracking back by rolled on, helping out Leo Chew as he works himself back in position. Brian Schmetzer shouting out instructions, encouraging his team. And don't forget we started at the five minute and forty eight

mark, so it's seventeen minutes in. Even though we're approaching the twenty third minute, Sounders up two goals to nil, back of a moment of magic from Ruy Diaz from the halfway line and giveaway for Philadelphia. Semele In the Philadelphia goal was off his line. Raoul saw it, and there is one play on the field that could see and execute on it. It's Raoul.

As Sullivan skips by new who comes back. We cross eventually cleared by Jackson, Reagan only finds the foot of Bezu in the middle of the park, comes back to Martinez thirty yards from goal, flicks with the outside of his foot to this near sight the right towards the corner flag. Challenge by New On Sulivan, who has the ball of his feet. A couple of stepovers plays the ball back into Martinez, who tries to wriggle free of rolled on runs into Leo Chu steps in, wins the ball, knocks it down the

line to be picked up by Glesns. So the question will be now for the Sounders. Like you said, the Sounders haven't been in this position yet this year to nil lead, you know, twenty five minutes into a game. Now it's the response, and this actually lays on Schmetz's shoulders We're not sure if he's talked to them. Hey, if we go up to nothing early away from home, how are we gonna play? Are we gonna play

compact or are we gonna continue to play Sounder soccer away from home? Going into halftime, the guys in the back have to dictate, because I don't think that Josh and Obed are the ones that are going to dictate this game for the Sounders and how they finish out this first half, Philadelphia had the ball fart side, little flip towards ooh, offside flag goes up from the assistant referee on this near side who made the original run in behind eventually got

the ball, but he was offside as he was coming back. Sounders at La Galaxy on Sunday, another big game, Alley Galaxy. You've got off to a storming start this year in the Western Conference. Certainly don't leave us at halftime where Jackson and Pete will be back to break it all down. And so far, so good for the Sounders here in Philadelphia leading two goals

to nil. Sports Radio nine to fifty am wherever you're listening to us and the car driving home from work on the way to soccer practice at home. SYNCD up with Apple even on light rail. Now that's opened up on the East side. Wherever you listen to us, we appreciate it. Sounders have got off to a great start here away from home. The second of two away games last Saturday in DC, it went down to ten men about thirty

minutes into that first half. Stephan Fry got the red card and as Brad Evans mentioned during his halftime analysis, the way the rules have changed, he should not have got the red card, should have stayed on. It was a penalty, yes, but maybe a yellow card. And today it was announced that MLS rescinded that red card, allowing Stephan and Fry to be available

for this weekend. Sounders have it this far side the right Christian roll Don goes back to his brother Alex, comes square inside to the goalscorer for the second goal. Vargaster knew who rolls it out to Leo Chu. Sound as confident in possession so far, will give and go challenge well by for Philadelphia, just a rash challenge for Rex and Reagan. And again we talk about these things. Jackson Reagan has been on the back side of red cards and

yellow cards and stepping in his time has been off this season. No need to make that challenge sixty yards from your goal. Now you put yourself in a position we're on a yellow card against a very talented attack and force. So my big question is as that play developed, Josh and Obed are all shaded to the right hand side. If you're going to play with a double pivot, one of them has to be coming across and sitting in front every time. No need to challenge there. Philly's playing with one up top.

You should trust that you have your other center back that's always going to cover for you. Right But at the end of the day, it's a poor giveaway and a bad pass from Lao two on the left hand side that causes a counter attack. And what the Sounders did so well in DC in the second half of last game was maintain possession and be good with the pass,

and that's what allowed them some success and more opportunities. But now the Sounders are getting hopefully they don't get into but right there in that instance, it's a lazy pass thinking that things are just gonna work. And that's what Schmetzer said to us is maybe we're a little too comfortable. Maybe we think that just because we have good players that the results are gonna come. But Ziggy always said you have to at least match the intensity of the other team and

your skill will show. Right first twenty five minutes great, don't let that confidence get in the back of your head and make silly rash challenge challenges like that as a center back well Sounders FC Soker is presented by Provident, Swedish official healthcare partner of Sounders FC. Get here in the twenty eighth minute, Philadelphia Union nail Sounders two. Yes, Sounders two of the back of a

fifty yard shot from Ruy diaz Avia. Not watching it on TV on Apple, go find the highlights giveaway by Martinez middle of the field without a hesitation, a moment of hesitation, Rudy has lifts his head up so he's a goalkeeper of his line, whips it around, rolls into the back of the net and then equally of good quality was Vargas with the second goal. So here's a question. Is this goal of the week for this week or will that be goal of the week from March nine eight back from men to March

ninth, that'll be the big question. We'll see what MLS does. But Keiley just saw this the last time Philly lost two games at home twenty twenty one April May in twenty twenty one. So this is not a team that loses back to back games at home. And they've been so stout and good at home. And if the Sounders play the way they did the first twenty

five minutes, I think they'll be in good position. But this is what I get nervous of, silly challenges when you have the rhythm of the game and then all of a sudden you make a challenge and we're at what three or four minutes already waiting to see what's happening on the field. And it's those challenges that are silly on the field. Just seeing a replay of that Vargas collision with Gazdak, and Gazdek was the player who got into that collision

with Jackson and Reagan. So he's been in the war so far, not deck a couple of times, knock on his leg, knock in the face, all goes out of bounds. So, Brad, the question I got for you, then, is a player who's been in this situation where you've been up. Sometimes taking your foot off the gas is obviously the wrong thing to We've seen it before where all of a sudden it allows the other team, especially at home when they have such a strong record, to come in.

It feels like you need to put your foot on the throat of Philadelphia now and push that third goal. Well. Look, if the Sounders were in first place in the West and they had been winning games, you know, knowing that they can maintain possession in the gate chances, then I would say, okay, you sit back, absorb pressure and play that way.

But that's not the case. Sounders have no time here to waste, really, right, you got to put your foot on the gas and go, go, go, and get as much as you can out of this game. Now, that doesn't mean sending six and just running willy nilly, but it means being really smart positionally, but also knowing that you have to attack. You have to attack in this game because that's where turnovers are eventually made, or in the opponent staff and capitalizing on those. Sounders have it fast

side. They're right with Alex Shroldn fifteen yards from the endline, comes into his brother Christian, who's triple team as it goes, ball goes back to Alex. It comes inside Philadelphia holding ten men just top of their box. Sounders unable to get away with it. Given away cheaply by got his heels clipped by Brueno. That's gonna be a foul on the for the Sounders on

the far side the right gives them a chance to take a breath. Philadelphia seemed to swarm Alex rolled on, almost won the ball and got them in transition. But this gives a chance for the Sounders to put in some decent quality. We saw quality come into the box on Saturday night. It felt like with ten men that was the chance for the Sounders to execute and find that tying goal. They couldn't get there. We saw a Tensio hit the

posts in that second half from a free kick. From a similar position, Alex Roald Donald's good this time, is going to drive it towards the far post, comes up knocked up in the air by Jackson egg and headed up and away by Ooha, finds the foot of Ruy Diaz who just rolls it away to the far side. Cheap giveaway for the Sounders. Up in the last couple of minutes, Sounds been a little sloppy in possession. Ariel has

it, but she closed down by that man. Ruy Diaz is showing the team how to do it, pressing hard far side the right or goes back to Jack Elliott given away. Sounders can't connect a Tensia this time give the ball away. Comes to this near side as Nu, who just steps forward, wins the ball and again it seemed obvious from my vantage point Brad knew who knocked it out of bounds and let the ball roll, expecting a throne

for himself. It wasn't. Sound has come again. Ball played into the foot of Christian Roll Dan Josh Tensio striding forward giving away their Atensio again couldn't shrug off Sullivan. The ball goes back to the Philadelphia goalkeeper, challenged by Alex darn middle of the field. Here come the Sounders again. Christian roll Dan far side the right, tries to find Jordan Morris in behind, closed

down by Atensio. Jordan Morris just switching off for a second. Ricochet couldn't find his feet and here comes Sullivan, rolls the ball into the foot of Caranza. Tries to find who on the far side looked out of bounds for me by at least a two yards, says. Some referees on that side gave nothing. Here come the Sounders. It's been a game of giveaways so

far. In the last fifteen minutes, sound has just retaining some possession on this near side the left a little bit of miscommunication between knew who and Leo Chu. Let's remind you again this is a game there was canceled on May ninth due to a trenchil downpour and flooded field could in the sixth minute. So the Sounders, with all these nuanced rules that the MLS decided to put into play, not to start with the same players on the field, albeit

some changes due to injury or players not available. In this case, Yemar steps on the field for Ariaga. The Sounders were able to get through some of that adversity, especially playing on the East East coast, and have managed to pick up a two goal lead. And here's Leo cho left hand side one. B One tries to wriggle past Buno isn't able to He too, needs to put a bit more pressure on Bueno allows him to play out from pressure. Here comes Vargas. He can ate Brian Schmetz. He's just telling

his team to go, telling Leo Chu to go. This is the time to put foot on the guests as glad that shows a wriggle. We have rolled on ball bouncing around. Sounders managed to retain some possession. Leo Chu comes in almost giving away again from the Sounders some He goes in so Vargas right corner of the box, inside similar position to his goal, manages to win the ball on the deck penalty. It was a challenge from Bezu on

Vargas. The referee took a second to look at the play and then put the whistle to his mouth and Brad evans, this is the chance for the Sounders to go three goals to nil. Well, we'll see. Philly seems to be pretty adamant that this is a dive. But at the end of the day, the past six seven minutes looked like I was at a pinball

arcade, just watching the ball bounce around back and forth. But the most important thing is if you're going to lose possession, you do it in the opponent's defensive third right, and then a couple times when the ball gets played back and you know we lump it long, So we'll watch this replay. Here, Vargas gets in the box, a little chop gets taken down, but he recovers the ball nicely, takes another touch and here comes a little tackle. I mean he sticks his foot in and he has an opportunity to

play ball. We saw it last week. That's a penalty kick. The only way you can get chenned over. Let's remind everybody Vo has be conclusive evidence and you could see the connection between Bezos's right leg hooked up onto var Gas. Vargas went down inside the box. Claire penalty and now it gives ruy Diez a chance. We've seen him do a couple of penenkas to beat the old time goal scoring mark for the Sounders. Can he add to his gold tally tonight and the gold tally for the season? Five goals on the

year? Ready for Ruydiez. V A still making a check. It looks like Philadelphia slowly walking away. We'll see what happens here as he holds the ball in his hands. Brad, can you make ramor reason what's going on here? Again? It feels like he was an obvious foul unless there's some kind of he's looking at as a dive potentially, and if it is,

is that a yellow card? Yeah, he could be looking at a dive here, But then the question is why are they not looking at the one last week when Stephen Fry commits the foul to make sure, And maybe they did, but they certainly didn't take this long. They said clear penalty, red card. Right, we knew that it was a penalty, But at the end of the day, is it a red card? Obviously it wasn't. It got overturned, So now it's a case of is it a dive? But for me, on initial view there, I think Obed has every

right to try and make a play on the ball. He sticks a foot down any contact in the box I'm always looking for as an attacker. And we'll watch a replay here ball gets swung in and it's a little bit of pinball. But Obed finds himself again same spot from where he scored from, goes to ground, gets back up, slips the ball and that's where the ball comes in. And for me, that's certainly a foul if the defender's gonna stick his foot in and not get the ball, and Obed connects the

pass that's a penalty kick. Seems clear and obvious to me from the replay, even more so from that angle where he hooks the leg and shaking his head his beazer as he walks away, taking a breath, hands on his hips. I'm gonna get a chance to add to the Sounders lead here. The Sounders have not one in Philadelphia, oh three and three in those six games, six games at home, six games here in Philadelphia. As we saw, two of his pks have been penenkas. One has been whipped to

that left hand side, and that was against Montreal. So let's see what ruy Diez does here. It takes a couple of steps backwards, puffs out his chest as he always does, takes a breath, comes up and it's a penanka, his third penanka of the season. And that is what Raoul Rudiez is all about. Puts the Sounders up here in Philadelphia, Sounders three, Philly zero. That's a bad man. That is a bad man.

As a goalkeeper, you're taught you gotta choose a side to go to and if you don't and you catch that ball on a penanka, you look like a genius. But if the if the attacker gets you go on the wrong way, you look even more silly, so keep her dives to his left and again it's his bad man with Raoul who's feeling himself lately. That's six goals on the season already for Raoul's that correct, six goals on the season, one assists for ral ruy Diez. Four of those goals have been from

the PK spot, clinical from twelve yards. Three of those now have Ben Pinankas. One was a rasping short into the bottom left corner, and of course the goal tonight from fifty plus yards whipped it around the goalkeeper. Sounders in dreamland right now. Up three goals and I'll hear it. One of the most difficult places to play in MLS, Sounders so far making it look

easy. Well, Philadelphia doesn't look like the Philadelphia of yester year that they've come out in this game sleeping and the Sounders have gone flying in attack. And it comes with Leo Chu's rolled down and got crushed in the middle of the field. Players let go, referee gives the advantage. Christian rolled on, I think is Christian on the deck. Knud knocks it out of bounds and we'll tell you what it is, it's gonna be a yellow card,

and Corenza that's an SGB yellow card. When a foul is called SGB trial lawyers are here to help visit SGB dash law dot com. That was from an earlier foul. Corenzo was coming back to help. Swiped at Christian Roldan, who went down to the deck. Well, as you mentioned, sometimes it's not about being pretty. The sound is just taking a moment here, managing the game clock. Forty percent possession for the Sounders so far in this game. Nasty challenge on the top of his ankle. To me, that's

no different than Awlex rolled on challenged. Maybe a little bit less, but it's intentionally stepping on the back of his heel, right, and so this is frustration. What we saw from the Sounders at home a couple weeks ago against Vancouver's what's happening to Philadelphia right now. They're not playing within themselves when

things aren't going right. That's one of your best players on the field in Koranza, not getting the touches that he wants, and all of a sudden he comes in late down three to nothing, stamps on the back of Christian Rolldan. You can see him point to his socks. It's clearly either ripped or it's dirty from dirty cleats on the back. And that's one that would drive me nuts as a player, is these unnecessary fouls committed against me.

I understand there's a run of play and you want to make a tactical foul, but if you're gonna come in and step on the back of my ankle, that's one where I want to see all the Sounders get in someone's face. And that's what we talked about with Schmetz today. Right, we're a little bit too nice at times. That's an opportunity. The ref knows it's a yellow card. We all do. Hey, let's band together and use that moment going in right, five six minutes left until half and show why

we're here. You would have done that, Leyton O'Brien would have done that, Ozzie would have done that. I want to see more of that out of the Sounder, especially winning three to nothing impart that mental game. Well, now it's about next challenge as well as he Sounders have to make a statement. Well, the referee always sees the next challenge too. You gotta wait ten to fifteen minutes for that one to come in. I think maybe in my day we could make that challenge is Andrew Thomas. It's a name

we haven't called that much tonight. Certainly credit to the Sounds. Without maximizing possession, they've managed to retain the opportunity to score. The executed fantastically in the attack and third as the ball bounces around given away again by Philadelphia. This near side, the left left channel is Leo Chu. Just double team by Sullivan and bezu Or goes into a Christian roll don in that number ten

spot. Twice it goes to his left foot challenge by Gazdag who's coming back to help his defense, but it goes over the end line corner kick for the Sounders here in Philadelphia's Philadelphia Union nil Sounders. Three Sounders will take their time as they wander down to this near left hand side. It's usually Rosnekh has been on corner kicks and free kicks. This time it's ralry Ds. It's gonna wander over. It's gonna be an inswinger with his right foot,

big men her up. All packed inside that six yard box. We'll see what the movie is. It's whipped in headed just over and wide by a Philadelphia Union defender. It's gonna roll out on the far side for another corner kick for the Sounders. Well, it's a fantastic ball for Raoul. And usually I don't like when when Sounders attacking players are just standing and waiting for

the ball to get to them. But if the ball is whipped in as hard as Raoul can, you can actually sit there and just redirect that ball. You don't have to generate any power. And that's what the Sounders did on this one. Coming from the other side, it's Alex, we know is a little bit more lofted, and the Sounders will look to make their runs from deeper in the box. Sounders have it corner kick far side.

They're right, Alex Rolan's gonna whip it in low. A little flick by Christian Rolldin comes off the back of his heel, rolls over the end line goal kick for Philadelphia. Well, this copyrighted audio casts of Major League Soccer may not be retransmitted, reproduced, or rebroadcast without the express written consent of Major League Soccer. So much going on this first top right, I'm looking at my my read sheets, They've got like four lefts, so I'm gonna

get through the next four minutes. Let's get here. In the forty second minute, Philadelphia nil Sounders three, the back of a Ruidiaz goal, a Vargas goal and then a Ruidiaz penalty. Sunders just need to retain maintain possession. Don't give her anything way silly Or goes in towards Glasner's headed clear picked up by Vargas, header square to new who just drives forward. Plays in Chu who comes in off that left hand side loose on the pass given away

one initially by Alex Roldan managed to wriggle freak and clear of Uha. It's been very quiet this first half. The attacking number seven for Philadelphia only ten touches on his first half. Flicked to Christian roll Dan plays into the feet of Jordan Morris towards the end line, cuts it back off Elliott over the end line cornerkick Sounders remains. Philadelphia neil Sounders three. That's well done from

the Sounders, and you saw her on the previous play. What I like about Christian as a number ten is when he drops back and Philly has a goalkick or any of the like they're coming out. He is direct traffic where everyone should go. You don't see that too often from a Roofsnack in that position or d la Vega when he was in there for a hot minute. It's his understanding of the game that changes things for the Sounders, and that's

a good slip pass and interchange from the Sounders moving forward. Unfortunately, the balls played just a little bit too wide for Jordan to wrap his foot around it, but a corner kick nonetheless fast side the right Alex Roldan arm up in the air Leo Chow ten yards away in support this simme. It goes right into the middle of the box, headed clear by Glesnes, into the chest of Gazda, who knocks you at his left foot over the top to

Sullivan. The speedy player flicks up in the air by Ovid Vargas well played by the Sounders central midfield player finds the foot of Leo cho fast side the right goes into Christian Roldan, goes square top of the box to Jordan Morris played to Vargas quickly into Ruy Diaz from twenty five yards out looking to shoot,

goes wide and long over the end line. Goalkick Sounders, Sorry, goalkick Philadelphia, But Bret Evans, you couldn't ask for much more in a first half in a place like which is notoriously difficult to play, and the Sounders have produced this this weekend. Yeah, I mean we started this game with a long free kick that Philadelphia just sent everyone for and you thought it might get a little bit uncomfortable for the Sounders at that point starting the game.

But the Sounder settled in quickly and obviously Raoul's goal changed the game. But it's a Philly team that's just not here to play tonight, and the Sounders of capitalize, which is something we haven't seen, right. We saw him go to Dallas and not capitalize on the opportunities. But tonight they finish their chances. Now you got to get in a halftime with a shutout and you've won the half. A tackle by new on this near side on Sullivan

knocks it out for a throne for Philadelphia. They quickly move up the field as we approach the forty five minute mark. Here Sounds need to hold on. I'm giving it are way silly here can they get into the locker room? Three nil? Up, allow Brian Schweitzer to make some comments, reorganize a few things if he has to. But so far, so good for the sound As the ball goes out fast side the left comes back to Bruno, goes center to Martinez thirty yards from goal, whips it out. Given

away cheaply. He's given away a number of balls, one of them being the rail Ruy Diaz goal. The ball goes into Jordan Morris one B one versus Glesner's left hand corner of the box. Can he be in one B one? Is he comes in towards his right foot center of the eighteen yard box, clips up in the air well blocked by Gleazners eventually finds Vargas top of the box, says a referee flag goes up. Could been off side, but sound As FC's Kids Club is back. Sammy's Pod Squad offers youth

You know there was an injury to Gazdag. We had nine minutes if memory serves In the last game, and so I think Steve Zaquani was mentioning the World Cup and Qatar and how many minutes were added

at the end of each half. It feels like they've added a lot of minutes, So maybe he was that gap between March ninth and today, just making up for when the game started exactly. The ball goes in headed up in the air by Alex Roldan, finds the foot of Martinez this near side the right, plays it towards Bezu, challenged by new who ten yards from

the end line, goes in square to Sullivan. Christian rolled on tracking Lamb the number thirty three to term it the ball Whittel on the six yard box, cleared by Jackson Reagan well played by the sound essential defender Bits goes over the end line for a corner kick for Philly. Well, it's a good attack from Philly and good patience here knew who gets caught napping just a little bit. As soon as this ball comes inside for Philly, he has to

tuck all the way in and force that ball out wide. He doesn't, and they slip it in. But Jackson, in the exact spot of center back should be just inside the six blocking anything that comes square across the box. See Breno this near side the right outswinger with his right foot, one

arm up in the air. Philadelphia making their run top of the six headed up in the air by Yamar and away picked up by Breno, just slips, momentarily wins the ball from Christianne and whips the ball in towards the top of the sixth slice shot by Harry l eventually finds the hands of Andrew Thomas. He lays on the ground just to burn off a few valuable seconds. The sounders trying to see out this nine minutes of added time two minutes into

it. The running clock in the stadiums now knew this season allows all the fans in the stadium to see what's happening, what's going on, even the referees that we saw in Lumenfield just a week or so ago. When the referee came and issued that red card, he announced it to the stadium, communicating exactly what his decision was, even though it certainly appeared for Jackson Reagan's red card to be the wrong decision. But that's a conversation for another day.

As the boar goes from goalkeeper to the far side the left, picked up by Breno who drops it off to Elliott, goes back to his goalkeeper who's in the starting eleven tonight in replacement of Blake, who started the game of March ninth. Has been the anchor in that back line as the number one for Philadelphia for so many years now. INJA tonight, does the ball find yourself fast side the left to Bueno onebi one versus Alex Chroldan, no

support from the sound as players drops the top of the box. Strike well saved by Andrew Thomas. It was a strike from all of twenty yards. I think it was Cornza who managed to strike it low down to Thomas's left hand side. Good save by the Sounders goalkeeper. Remains three nail Sounders probably the best bout of possession for Philly tonight and connecting passes, being patient and it's the switching ball from right to left sixty yard ball over the top that

unorganizes the Sounders defense. And when that happens, Alex Holdan is tucked in so far the ball gets clipped over in behind a couple passes and it's a decent strike from distance. Andrew Thomas just in a perfect spot. Now, if I'm a center backer or defensive midfielder for the Sounders, I'm thinking we've got three or four minutes left, drop back into a block. If it's on to play, we play. If not, the ball goes long.

Sounds looking a little stretch right now in these final minutes of the first half. The ball goes top of this eh and yard but its a little flick towards Gazdag. What a save by Andrew Thomas. Sounders need to organize themselves. That was a chance. It was Carranza into the path of Gazdag with his left foot, and Andrew Thomas comes out quickly blocks the shot. It's gonna be a corner caick for Philadelphia, but another chance for the men in

Navy blue. Yeah. Well, like you said, Sounder is too stretched out from back to front. And if you do that, a good team in MLS is gonna pick you apart. A bad team in MLS is gonna pick you apart. And all it took was four passes to find himself on top of the six and it's a great save from Andrew Thomas, making himself big and coming out to save that ball. It's gonna be bueno on the far side. The Union's left in swinger with his right foot. Sounders need

to stand strong right now, give nothing away. Headed up in the air by Jackson Reagan. Potential challenging headed back and away by Reagan. Carnza goes up, drops the ball. It was Vargas who went down collision on a Union play. He goes down. Refreez listens var it's been a foul and a sound as player. The question is did Vargas clip the heels of Riel? If we watch your replay here, Bor goes up in the air and that's certainly some contact. Brad. The question is is it ball first and

then player? It's abatable. I think he kicks the bottom of his foot there. Not enough to draw a penalty kick at the end of the day, but I mean he's saying, yeah, it's a PK. We'd need to see a couple more angles on that one. It's a play on the ball, which is a little bit different than earlier. If you get the other one earlier. If they slow this one down, we'll see they're definitely

going to look at this one. Well. Again, it goes back to the referee made the call for Vargas' challenge as a PK, and then it has to be conclusive evidence to overturn that, and this time it was no PK given. Now the question is is a conclusive evidence that Vargas made contact with harry L. The one that's tough for me on these is if you kick the bottom of the foot. To me, it's I am absolutely making a play on the ball if I kick the opponent's bottom of the foot,

and that to me is definitely not a PK. If I come in sideways and it's a rash challenge your feet are planted, yes, or you're reaching for a ball and I come across with my studs. But if I hit the bottom of your foot, not a PK for me, I agree. Well. Flex to two zero six eight three seven goal. Andrew Thomas launches it from that free kick, Sam's got clipped in them. They're half for the field as Mr knocks it a long down the line. No messing around, put it down, the line goes over the end line, the system referee flag goes up. It's gonna be a goal kick because we get into the final minutes of this first half of nine minutes of added time. As we approach the seven minute mark, two minutes to go for the Sounders, they've been

a little open in these final minutes. Allow Philadelphia just to creep up the field, get a couple of chances. It has been big, says by Andrew Thomas. Potential look for a penalty on VR which was not given. The Sounders just need to see how these final minutes get back in the locker rooms, Christi Aldong gets clattered into nothing given by the referee and Sounders come in transition now as Clesnez steps in clears his lines. A couple of questions

asked by the Union players. I think it is Martinez who's down on the deck, but it is his challenge that went through Christian Volldan and caused himself

to be injured. Yeah, I think he's got a pre injury on his wrist, but it's certainly not a foul if he's going up for the ball to challenge, so is Christian not even looking at Martinez, and it's Martinez that comes up and gets clatter and actually reaches out and hits Christian in the head and then falls straight on his stomach, but definitely not a foul. He's angry, They're upset, Philly's angry, the fans are upset, and

the Sounder should milk this clock out and head in the halftime. But second half they're going to be a motivate team coming out, so you have to close this one out well and not give them any confidence. Well, they lost to RSL in the final minutes of the last game last Saturday evening, and tonight they start off the second the first half of this game, this replayed game for March ninth, slow out the blocks, giving up three goals

to the Sounders. Get here. In the final minute, corner kick for the sound is whipped in towards the PK spot, headed clear by Martinez, finds the foot of new who drops it to Ruy Diaz, giving away cheaply. No need to do that. Raul Breno just skips by Alex Roldan good tackle by the number sixteen. It was ooh who can scrashing into Alex Roldan, let's be a yellow card and Bueno I think he was ooh, who came in? Studs up. We'll see if theres gonna be a replay on

that. Philadelphia incensed. That's an SGB yellow card. When a foul is called, SGB trial lawyers are here to help visit SGB lord dot com. The referee tries to figure out what exactly going on. I'm seeing the replay right now, two players and it was oh, just went over the top of the ball, and you mentioned it else. Roll Don got done for a red card something similar. I'm not sure how that's any different than what we saw for Alex. This one will be looked at again and they'll have

a couple of different angles, but he certainly comes over the ball. Alex makes a full play on the ball and his leg gets twisted underneath this one with the studs from the center back there, it's a pretty rash challenge. They're all questioning who did what and why. Well, that's a tough one and is any different than Jackson Reagan's red card? Right, it's gonna be another yellow card. It looks like an uha, not a red card,

which your sound as we're asking for. That's the second one tonight from Philadelphia, coming in late with the studs up, and I think that's why the referee is trying to get control of this one before it gets out of control. He can sense, you can hear the fans, you can hear the players probably yelling at each other. You see a lot of bad touches from Philadelphia, and to get control of the game sometimes you have to pull out

the yellow card and slow the game down and manage it. So credit to the ref calling the fouls when they should be being in the right spot. Fortunate sounders on the other side of the cards being given out tonight. Discount Tire get thirty percent short to average weight time when you buy and book online at discount Tire dot com. It's a brat the nine minutes, well, now the ten minutes save me. So I got all my reads in.

But as you mentioned Philadelphia, they've not looked too sharp. They've looked sloppy in possession. You can start to see the frustration bubbling up. And sometimes when frustration bubbles up, we've seen it before, rash challenges happen and you started to get yellow cards and red cuts. Yeah, We saw it from the Sounders two weeks ago in Vancouver. It was complete opposite side of the spectrum. So tonight it's about the Sounders three nothing, keep your cool,

keep your head, nothing silly to give away. You can see he's still hurt on this one. I've supplied surprised we haven't seen a replay of this one. But for the Sounders it'll about who can have the cooler head tonight while still playing intense soccer. Right, there's challenges you should get into, challenges you shouldn't. But making sure now if Philly is gonna come in one hundred and ten percent, every time you get caught. When you don't challenge

at one hundred percent, right, that's when you get hurt. That's when you're on the wrong side of the tackle. Result. If we're just holding up play, I'm wondering if he's getting something in his ear piece. He'd made the decision to give a yellow car to Ua. He also gave it to Brueno, but I think it was potentially given to the wrong man. You've got to think with now eleven and a half minutes of at a time added, No, he's walking away. Nothing given potentially Brian Schmitzer, as

we're looking down on our screen here is perplexed by the decision. I think that just kind of sums up the sound of season. We feel like we've been hard done by at times by decisions. And then you see what looks like a pretty blatant potential red card at least to look at nothing given, as Sounders have it with Jordan Morres. Just need to keep it steady, knock it down the line, give nothing away. And there's the referees where

stulta end this dominant first half from the Seattle Sounders. Goals by ralriy Diaz in the thirteenth minute from fifty plus yards out saw the goalkeeper off his line and with one touch he curls it around into the back and there to put the Sounders one nil up. And it was Vargas who in the twenty second minute picked the ball up in the eighteen yard box found the far corner for

his first goal as a Seattle Sounder. And then the thirty seventh minute it was Vargas who got dragged down and it was ruy Diaz who scored his fourth penalty in his third penanka of the season. Brad Your final thoughts. Yeah, I think Obed was fantastic in this first half and the Sounders finishing finally clinical, and this is only the second time the Sounders will go into a halftime with a lead. Pete viewing, My goodness, what a first half for your Seattle Sounders in this rescheduled resumed game Sounders at Philadelphia Union. This game kicked off at the five minute and twenty eight second mark, and what we saw, Pete,

was the best first half of a season for the Sounders. Three goals, great movement, a fifty I'm not even exaggerating, a fifty yard strike from Rald ruy Diaz, Obed Vargas's first goal of his career, and rold Riediaz getting the brace with his third Pananka penalty kick of this season. Sounder's leading three nothing Pete viewing, my, oh my, what a first half. Yeah, that's terrific. It's terrific. In that locker room right now, they I would imagine they're saying, great, put it behind us,

let's go and replicate it. Let's get a ninety minute performance or eighty five minute performance. But I Brad said it. Obed Vargas has been great to RUI ideas you know, in the Vancouver game at home, ruy Diaz was subbed out and Brad and I were sitting next to each other and he said, I bet he goes home after the game. He does the extra work. He comes back on the field, gets his running in to keep himself

sharp. And we saw him get rewarded for that hard work. And then he looked when he scored the first goal, he looked at the bench, gave him a look. Put the two fists in the air the pananka for him to do that three times, oh yes, yeah, you think, gosh, how many guys have done that twice in one year because everybody knows right that that's something he may try, and a goalie may just say, it's not gonna happen to me. I'm just gonna stand here and then catch

it and kick it out. So so real savvy, and Vargas's goal was I'm gonna say, world class. Yeah, he cut across, he hit it really really well, and it nicked off just the inside of the post. That goes in anywhere, that really does anywhere in the world. That's a great first goal for that kid. Speaking of goalies, Andrew Thomas two coming up with two great saves at the end of this half, oh three honestly, yeah, he's on the right spot for the first one. Made

it look easy, but right exactly. Yeah, this was I mean just overall comprehensive keeping. Philadelphia, you had team that this can't be stated any you know, this needs to be stated more and more and more. Philadelphia have lost a total of two home games in the last three years. They

minutes. Albert Russneck and Joal Paulo, by the way, are on the bench for head coach Brian Schmetzer. Last time they've lost back to back home games was in April and May of twenty twenty one. It's been three years. This would be the first win for the Sounders on the road in twenty twenty four, as Seattle leads Philadelphia in Suberu

Let's take a look at the Sounders bench right now, and I mentioned last segment the fact that it includes Albert Russnack and Joel Paulo and in a game where you're leading three nothing, Albert you know, can be so good in possession. JP is obviously your defensive iron man. There's some options here for Brian Schmitzer, but the job has

to be just to come home with the three. Yeah. Job number one is to play a ninety minute game or eighty six eighty five minutes with the time taken from the previous one. But that's what they've got to do. They've got it. They want to come into this locker room at the end of the game feeling like they're back on track as a club. It's a great win at of Philadelphia. They would love to keep a clean sheet for Andrew Thomas. Yeah, and make sure that they do that and if they

get another goal. But it's an opportunity one they got to go to the ninety minutes. But then if you can get JP in there, if you can get Cody Baker and there Rust back in there and make them a part of this as well, that's a great opportunity. So it's a long stretch of many games in a short window, and if they can sneak in and get more guys into the mix. It's a good thing, but it's ninety

minutes. They got to play the ninety minutes absolutely and should be noted the Sounders don't play again until Sunday at home against the Galaxy, so you don't have to worry about minutes and all those things. As the players get ready to kick off this second half, a couple of changes for Philadelphia as we see Budoya coming on the field, the experienced

player. Let's give you a recap of that first half and what a first half it was for the Sounders. Railroydiaz picked up the ball middle of the field with one touch, took a shot from all of fifty yards away, curled it around the goalkeeper who was off his line, found the back and net and they put the Sounders up one nill in the thirteenth minute and no bed Vargas then stepped up left corner of the box, took it to his right foot, found that far corner for his first goal as a Sounder's senior

player. And then the thirty seventh minute, Vargas got dragged down and it was Roridez who stepped up and hit his third Panenka penalty of the season, his fourth penalty of the season and the sixth goal on the year. As the Sounders get ready to go here in their anniversary kit, Rudiez knocking the ball back to Jackson Reagan who's going to launch it long from center to this

near side the right. Sounders in their anniversary kit green shirts, blue pinstriped blue shorts and white socks, attack of the goal to our right, as I mentioned, and Philadelphiine in there all navy blue kit. They're attacking the

goal to our left. And so as we looked at on our monitor's confirmation that Breno, who hadn't really played a game since the six nil loss to Pachuca, which happened just a couple of days after the March ninth cancelation of this game, he comes on the field, and then Bezo comes off, and Wagner comes on to play on that left hand side, and then Martinez, who had a ill shaky first half cost coughed up the ball in the middle of the park. He comes off the field and Bardoya comes on.

As the ball gets blocked down the line. Chasing is Uha, who's very quite in that first half. Andrew Thomas clears his lines, goes out far side for an early throwing. Four Philadelphian Sounders territory, so Bred As we get this second half going, Ronchetz has not been in this position this season yet, being up three goals to nil at halftime. As Sullivan, the pacey winger, comes in off that right hand side, nothing Ford has to

go back to Ariel who's shifted on that right hand side. As Bezo comes off the field, Wagner's going to be the attacking left back who comes on. Is so influentially Here come the sound As two v two in the back Jordan Morris one b one versus Ellie has got the pace of him, goes why if his first touch cuts it back? Unfortunately the Sounders it can't take advantage of that opportunity. Brad Evans. Yeah, look, I think Philly made a couple changes, three subs at halftime. You're going to see a

different Philly team. And what they're saying at halftime is it can't get any worse than that. So we've got to go make a couple changes. So they come out and double ball long into the Sounders defensive third. But the Sounder is in good position now to play a counter attacking game. Keep Jordan high, keep Raoul high, and as long as they do their job on at least two of the three defenders at Philly. You're going to keep back

as they push forward, they'll get some success. All goes into Morris shot strike and a good save by Semle in Philadelphia's goal is a quick throw to Jordan Morris towards that end line. He cut the ball back and it was Ruy Diaz who was a whisker away from his hat trick. It's gonna be a corner kick for the Sounders and that one's got to be finished. Role who want this one back? Almost at the PK spot and Jordan comes back again on a forty five degree angle and Jordan shaking his head like how did

that not go in the back of the net. You score the first one from fifty yards, but you don't put it in on an easy volley with no defenders around you. Alex rolled on this near side the right outswinger with his right foot. He's got to curl it in top of the six headed down strike just wide, and it's Christian rolled on inside the six yard Bucks drags it past that far post out for a goalkick. But another wonderful chance for the Sounders to make it four nil because it sits right now, it's

Philadelphi Union nil Sounders three. Bred Evans. A good ball in from Christian Curly and Gamar rises up and I think Christian was thinking just slip it back, maybe try to curl my foot around. He's a little bit off balance there. It's a tough one, but I always remember Freddi Montero sitting at the back posts of every single corner kick and just waiting for that ball to drop to you. And oftentimes if everyone misses it, if the ball comes

across, someone's got to be there to close that window. And Lao Chu just doesn't smell it enough there to know that wherever the ball goes, I gotta find myself and get open. I gotta take a chance that the ball is gonna find itself on the back post. There but an opportunity again for the Sounders. Ball gets launched in from just near sign the left to Bdoy who knocks it over the top to Pacy Sullivan trying to get in behind Knew who but New who knocks it out safety first, not a bad option for

the Sounder's left back comes back to the glint to gladness stepping up. The right central defender goes to Sullivan right corner of the box, new who picks it up, looks to knock it down the line. He does, makes the right decision, good ball down the line. Christian roll Don is Jordan Morrow. He's trying to skip clear of fact that gets in front of Vagne. Can he get a first good first touch he does, just skips inside. There's Ruey. He asks block well by Elliott, bounces up, eventually

collected by the Union goalkeeper who throws it out quickly. Tam McGlynn and here come Philadelphia and transition pacey start to this foot second half. Sullivan has it fast sight the right, overlap and run by Harry El He gets it towards the end line, whips it across, comes off the shins of new who for a corner kick for the Philadelphia Union. We knew that Philly was gonna

come out. They push numbers forward. A center back gets all the way forward to sitting almost as a number six, and Christian finds himself high and wide and it's a great run by Jordan. A good ball from Christian. Jordan takes a touch with the right foot, just not enough in front of him, lays it off for Raoul It's a good, good defensive block. But the Sounders have to get something out of these countertaps. He's starty. Three good chances on goal for the Sounders in this second half. If you

don't put those away, you leave the door open for Philly. How many times have we seen this season MLS teams get a three nail lead, three to one lead and come back well. His Wagner fast side the rights could be an instringly with his left foot. Substitute came a halftime, goes towards the back post, flapped up by Andrew Thomas, and she goes over the end line. It's gonna be another corner kick. Came towards that far post. Alex Rolldan was there, then Thomas did just enough to clip it clear

of the Philadelphia players. I think's Krens are coming towards that back post. It's gonna be another corner kick for the Union. There's time on this near side the left gonna be that man Wagner again with his trusty left foot. Sounds just organizing their eighteen yard box. Don't give her anything away cheap. As the ball comes in top of the six, cleared by Vargas, hooked

away by Leo Chu challenged by Ruy Diaz. Jordan Morris gets it and how can the sound has come in transition quickly or turned by Ruy Diaz, Jordan Morris to his right, he goes to his left. Leo Chow one be one versus Sullivan Gleasns coming into support. Ruydiez has it top of the box

which can roll down to the right. He's there, plays the ball in blocked by the d the Philadelphi Union back line, but for the Sounders it goes over the end line for a corner kit remains Philadelphia nil the Sounders three bread evans. It's a great break for the Sounders and this skill from really Diaz to stay on his feet pop up and it's the run and the commitment from the Sounders to get forward. Is a little slipball from roll perfectly weighted

square ball across and Jordan just in an unfortunate position. Defender makes a block with Jordan that's now four or five full on counter attack sprints as the Sounders push here get another corner kick. It's gonna be an outswinger by Outschwroal dog whips it in, bounce it around hits the hand of Jordan Marris, yet the referee calls it your free kick for the Union inside their eighteen yard box, allows the Sounders to drop back. For the Sounders, it's been a

good start coming out this second half. They haven't sat back on this three nil lead, so as similar in the Union goal gets the game going. McGlynn on this near side the left whips it down the line by Uha, who is quiet that first off, cuts it back to Cornz eventually finds the foot of Nudes, rolls it short to Vargas and the Sounders are gonna come much like this for the second half. I would imagine Sounders are gonna have the chance to go on the break, so clatter into about Bedoya. Nothing

given by the referee. Vargas goes down, game keeps going. McGlynn has it center of the field, go to the far side the right to Badoya played the almost a full game on Saturday against RSL who won that game. At the very last minute, Sullivan comes in flecks the ball towards Kranz. It made a run in behind, cleared by the Sounders back line. Rudy has can't hold the ball up and the Union gonna come again. McGlynn substitute

at halftime with Wagner and Badoya. We'll get you those lineups momentarily. As the Union have it inside the sounder is half the field. Flick it from center to the near side the left of Wagner comes to McGlynn. Good little reverse ball into Ua, who tries to go around Yemark comes off the shins of the sound of central defender over the end line. It's gonna be a corner kick for the Union. The first five minutes of this one has been

back and forth and back and forth. You see how spread out everyone is, especially coming off only two days rest coming into this game, which is really really difficult. But maintaining possession and dropping into a low block, there's no problem with that Defende. Lions ball comes in heady clear by Yemar, clattered into by Elliot. Nothing given by the referee. It seemed like an

obvious free kick whipped him by McGlynn, headed clear by Jackson. Reagan sitting on a yellow card of course, I mean yellow card he picked up in that first half. He has to be careful as Ariel has it skips by Ruidiaz farst side, the right down the line towards Ril, towards the end lines. He's gotta cut it back. He tried so clear by new who top of the box. It comes Ruy Diaz just waiting for some pressure. Plays the ball out from center to the far side the left to attend to

you. Rulls it to Leo Chew and Sounds are gonna have lots of opportunity to get up and down this field. Is the Union trying to find that first goal to get themselves back in the game, and just give it away cheaply by Leo Chu. And now it needs some senior players just to pull the Sounders back, just hold their line, just keep some possession. It feels like an All Star game right now. Bred, Yeah, it's pretty wide open. And that's a situation where Leo Chu thinks he's got the gas

to do it. But the Sounders, like I said, just broke four or five times on the counter attack. You said it. Put your foot on the ball, knock it around. All comes into that far post from that right hand side, headed over the end life for a corner kick. Right now, it's just Ben, don't break for the Sounders. Bread Yeah, you got to allow your teammates to join the play with you. If you got tired legs, rely let the ball do the work. The ball

will move faster than any player on the field. Now the Sounder's fourth corner kick against in the second half already as a union or pime pressure wave after wave after wave hit come the union corner kick on their left hand side. Here outswinger with Vaga. It goes towards the top corner of the six, kind of wide open. Badoya picks it up by McGlenn back of the net. Wasn't challenged by the Sounders at the top of the box. It was McGlenn. The Subchu comes on, steps in, strikes a ball to the

far corner and puts Philadelphia on the board. It's Union one Sounders three. Well, it's a cheap giveaway from Leo Chew. Ball comes all the way down within two or three passes. It's a corner kick and then it were slow to get out and McGlenn finds himself on this near corner just by the referee. Everyone walking, not clearing their lines, jogging. Ball gets dropped back and it's a shot from this in same spot as obed Vargas, but with the left foots. He doesn't even have to curl it in. It's

just a laser. Everyone watching seeing what where's the sacrifice, Raoul, you know he's gonna shoe come in and slide. You showed it in the first half. You got new who turning his back when the balls game being hit far post. It's unacceptable from the Sounders in that situation. Sche's will be going nuts on the sideline, as should the senior players on the field. Unacceptable from the Sounders with a three to nothing lead, and now you let

this team back in the c out's in it not good enough. I would agree with everything you're saying, and just seeing the lack of pressure on the ball. Initially it was Bodoya who picked it up inside the box from a low corner kick. He had no pressure on him. Maybe it's drop the ball back and here comes the ball. Tell the box, Gazac. Two goals in a minute. Sounders are withering. It's Guzdag now who gets the ball in the back of the net, and what looked like a comfortable lead

for the Sounders is starting to evaporate. Union two, Sounders three. I'm at a loss for words in this situation. You see Sebastian the two they're doing radio going nuts, crowd going nuts. And again it's a simple, simple play from the Philadelphia Union, playing out of the back, no pressure on the ball, and within what forty seconds not even the ball's in the back of the net. Again, ball swung wide, a good cross. Maybe they're thinking off sides here, but I don't think so. I think

this is clear Philly goal. Let's take a look at the replay. Jordan gets nutmegs play back to a center back and all of a sudden, too wide open here as Atensial drops back, a little interchange, ball slip down the line and no pressure on the ball swung in. It's a fantastic finish and a great header. But the Sounders got to ask a lot of questions of themselves in the first five to six minutes of this second half. Well for the Sounders, they came into the second half three goals up. They

knew that the Philadelphia Union would come at them with everything they've got. They're a team that has not lost many games here, I mean one loss this season, one lost last season, no losses in twenty twenty two. Sounders

needed to be prepared and they weren't two cheap goals to give away. First one was not closed down by the Sounders top of the box, and then a free header just outside the six for that man Gazdag who scores his fifty seventh total goal that actually beats out Sebastian La two Sbasila two actually has fifty regular season goals. He does lead the regular season goal count with fifty assists.

The Gazdog finds himself with this sixth goal of the season to match that of Ruy Diaz, and the Sounders now find some calm in the storm here in Philadelphia. So let's get you this. The lineup for the Sounders now, and of course, remember Philadelphia have used four sub Sounders still have to make one sub Sandrew Thomas and Gold back fourth Roldan Yemar Reagan, knew Who

Vargas and a Tenser in the middle. Morris rolled on Cheu and then ruy Diaz up front for the Union Semlane goal back four Nour Wagan on the left, Elliot Glesnes and Harry El moving to that right hand side, Sullivan, gazdug McGlynn Badoya and then coranzan Ua. So you see Rosneck coming on the field. It's one of those players alongside JP who managed to make the bench.

They weren't involved on March ninth, but because of injuries to Mussovsky and Ariaga moving on to New England, they open up two spots in the squad for today's game. He comes on the field, it's gonna be Leo Choo's gonna make way. Rosneck's gonna slide on that left hand side. Need his calming influence now to keep the ball. The Sounders take advantage of a team that's the tail up. A're gonna be committing players forward and we've seen it

in the first ten minutes of the game, Brad. There was space an opportunity on the counter attack, but it's more about just holding your line and connecting the play and not getting stretched. Yeah. Look, the Sounders don't have to go into this half thinking they have to win at the time, you know, six seven, nothing, But the reality is they had four good chances to put this game. Will weigh right, You get that one, that one out of the four chances in the back of the net,

and the game is over at that point. But you breathe life into Philly and that's how these games go. You're playing away from home. On the flip side of that, the Sounders are up three to nothing. You got to know how to win games and close them out. So this will be the biggest task and the remaining thirty minutes of this game is can the Sounders even close this one out right now? I would say no, because Philly's only gonna come with wave after wave after way. But we see Rusnak come

in the game. Lao Chu didn't give the effort. I'm sure that Schmeet's wanted, and so Rusnak's job now will be to maintain possession, move around, play defensive. But also when the ball's six seven yards in front of goal, put it away, good step by Yemar, initial giveaway by Ruy Diaz middle of the field late in the challenge, you'll see if the referee brings it back. Sounders need to stem the toid here. Two quick goals for Philadelphia inside a minute. I've seen that happen before, of course,

and one goal quickly turns into two goals. Happened in San Jose when the sound has got the equalizer and the San Jose went down on it. Three goals to two within a minute. Here's michaelin top of the box, right hand side, just skips by Vargas, ralls it out to Sullivan right hand side, just drills it towards Caranza, clipped away by the Sounders. Can the Sounders have the legs now? They have players on the bench. We'll get to that bench in a minute and see what Brian Schmitzer has available to

him. Rosneck coming on the field for the Sounder's first sub so slide on that left hand side. Here comes Harry l good challenge by Reagan. And as Brian Schmitzer said, Brad and several of our conversations, senior players need to step up. Tonight is a great example where they need to step up now. Yeah, of course I think it's on their shoulders, right.

We can't expect the youngsters to just control this game. Well, Like you said at halftime, Potensio is twenty four years old, he's a veteran player. Now he's got, you know, maybe seventy eighty games underneath his belt. Possibly by now. All comes in headed clear by Yema. It's a long thrown from Sullivan on that right hand side. Rut Diaz just win that ball gets skipped through towards Sullivan. A little back keel played by new who

rolls the ball to Rosneck. Rudiez to Rosneck's left in support. This slow the game down. Didn't need to go forward, keep the ball, keep possession, ball switches. We've seen that before by Rudiez tours the end of that first half, he gave it away. This time he does connect that ball to Alex Roldan and gets bundled off the ball. Nothing given by the referee seemed like Carranza pulled down Alex Roldan. Sounders need to keep their call,

just get behind the ball, defend their goal. Andrew Thomas really had no chance with any of those shots steps in tonight because of his position as a starting goalkeeper on that March ninth game. Let's remind you this is a replay game for March ninth, there was canceled because of a trenchial downpour. Same players who were on the field had to start unless he was injured or players missing like Oriaga, who's moved on for the Sounders to New England.

Sunder's leading at halftime three goals to nil. Here in the sixty third minute's Philadelphia two Sounders three trying to knock it around. Elliott comes off the six foot six defenders, heels goes out for throwing for the Sounders. Sound is

able to take a breath. Oh, what happened in the first part of this second half is the Sounders put in so much energy in the first six to seven minutes getting up and down the field, and if you don't put the ball on the back of the net, you know that it's coming right back down because you've committed numbers forward right it's a four v two, it's a four v three. That means that Philly on the other side has the advantage. So then you're going back to front, back to front. The

Sounders look tired right now, is what they look. So you just saw a tenco putting his hands up, patting him down. Slow the pace down, connect our passes, let the ball do the work and get into a rhythm. In the second half, well, let's just not forget. It's not doom and gloom. The sound is still up a goal. So with the experience on the field now, with Rosnet coming on GP of course available on the bench tonight fills one of those spots that was opened up by Massovsky

and Noriaga. Let's get you that bench, Joe Paolo, Jacob Kasher as the backup goalkeeper, Dylan Tabs, Jonathan Bell, Danny Leavitt, Paul Rothrock, and then Cody Baker. As the ball gets whipped in a little flipped headed by Ruy Diaz comes up to Voge and just rolls it into McGlynn inside his eighteen yard box. Has time and space, got a crafty left foot, just whipped it all the way across, bounces, skips through all the way past Sullivan. It's gonna be a throwing for the Sounds and the far

side. The sound is left Philadelphia Union and happy to play high and go for it, and they're happy to invite the long ball from their outside backs. But the differences, they're all waiting for it. They're waiting for that long ball to come in from mc glenn, from the two center backs. So they're pushing high. They're cheating why not, and they have the win at their back, So that ball's carrying just a little bit more. The sounder's got to be careful here in the second half, Like you said,

rely on the veteran players. Put your foot on the ball and gain some possession. Just get a little tighter as well. As the ball goes down the line right hand side, here come Philadelphia Union again ten yards for the inline. Carnza cuts it back to Ollivan right corner of the box, drives it in and it comes off the chests. Sounder's looking for a offside Woher celebrate. Actually, Gazzduck celebrates. The system of referee flag goes up for

an off side. He chested it into the back of the goal from a driven across by Sullivan. Guys Ducks saying, no, take a look, vir will check it. It did go to the back of the net. It looks like from this angle he's just half a step past. Unless knew who's leaving him on side on the far side, I don't think so. I thinks his chest is leaning forward and he's just a hair offside in that position. They'll they'll check it, but I think this one will come back

as the Satner's fortunate not to concede yet another goal. Well in Atlanta, the Union were two up two nil down in the second half. Two goals in four minutes in the seventy third and seventy seventh tied it up. There and then against Nashville they've got the winner in the nineteenth minute. So this is a team that's used to coming back from deficits. They've shown character to

do that over the last couple of weeks. Right now, two quick goals have turned this game upside down, but sound is still leading three goals to two. Here at subru Park Sports Radio nine to fifty am, who has it fast side clips off the heel of Bedoya goes out for a Sounders throw, Roll Don has it, needs to leave it for new who don't come in the center of the park. Stay down that line as all gets knocked up by Badoya off Atensio ask him for the throne. Referee is giving it

the Sounders way well. Sound as FC Socket is presented by Provident, Swedish official healthcare partner of Sounders FC's get here in the sixty seventh minute makeup game for March ninth, after that cancelation due to rain in a flooded field,

Sounder's got off to a rip roaring start in the first half. Goal from fifty plus yards from Ruydiez got the game going fold up by a Vargas goal, his first for the Sounders, and then Ruydiez Penenka penalty put the Sounders up three goals to nilt going into the half, and then two quick fire goals inside a minute for Philadelphia. It's putting them right back into this game as the Sounders have it, give them away cheaply by Ruy Diaz. With

Masovski out Brad, there's not many options potentially to put up front. Morris could go up if Rudiez's legs go. We have some outside players and Rothrock Tevez obviously, Cody Baker Joe Powelo have been putting good minutes over the last couple of weeks. Yeah, I think I think you could bring in JP, have him sit and bring some calmness to the game and really allow the Sounders to open up and switch a field of attack. When they do that,

they look good. Right, Only only twice this half has it happened where the balls come side to side and the player to do that is Raoul dropping back in, going to one side and switching the ball side to side. Maybe move Bed out wide and put Jordan up top. I think Raoul has enough to finish out this game. Now, the question will be does Jordan have enough in the tank to play that wide position defensively, what goes to the far post towards Riel asking for the corner kick given by the assistant

referee on the far side. Sounders attacking the goal to our right. Philadelphia all in Navy blue attacking the goal to our left. There's going to be a corner on their right hand side, and Wagner, the left back's got to come over pick the ball up. It's going to stick it on the deck. It's gonna be an inswinger with his left foot. And these are the situations whether Sounders need to stand strong. You're going to make sure that

they give away nothing cheap. So referee just holds things up. Glass and theres uor but Doya just sit on top of Andrew Thomas, who sat Glass, they're just grabbing the shirt of Andrew Thomas. Well, with the wind, everyone should just be right on top of Andrew Thomas and allow this corner kicks come in left footed in swinger. Put Thomas under pressure. That's what Philly's sinking right now, coming from this Sounder's left hand side ball on the

deck. We'n takes a couple of steps up go shortness Berdoya he got the ball inside the box down ay real pressure for that midlind goal or comes in collected well by Andrew Thomas collects it, drops to the deck in his fully vetted fluorescent yellow goalkeeping outfit, just pushes his back line up and Brett, Steve Zaquani and I have talked about, you know, the Sounders sometimes building

out the back unnecessarily. Sometimes it's just knock it long. The best teams in the world, we talk about Man City and Edison, they knock it seventy yards up the field. They pick up second balls, as the Sounders have done right here. Yeah, I got no problem with playing the ball loong, as long as we're going to challenge for every ball and be ready for the second one. It gets tricky when we start to go long and we're not challenging for balls. And what's what you're seeing right now is Philly

is committed to the cause. It's the Sounders break free towards the end line. Is Rosnick to clip it towards the back post, stands it up towards Ruy Diaz gets it off his chest, challenged by Sullivan inside the box. A little drop of the shoulder does well whips it left foot into the foot of Rosnak. Can he get it top of the six yard box, can't get out from him to his feet slashed attend to you finds it left foot block like Jordan Morris, top of the box to Vargas to roll down.

Sounds that a couple of chances in that place still have it. Top of the box with rolled on to Atensio clips it towards the far side of the left finds the foot of ruy Diaz, challenged by Aril. Comes back to Neu who eighteen yards from the end line left channel finds rolled on corns are coming back. Finds new left hand side, got some time and Space whips it in, comes off Ril for a corner kick for the sound As remains Union two Sounders three bred Evans. When the Sounders show five, Rusnat breaks

free on the right hand side. Here rouill Get picks up the ball a good chest strap to get inside the box and it pinballs around quite a bit. But it's a Sounders commitment now to finally get in and fight for every single ball, and what happens You're rewarded with a corner kick. All that

effort. Let's time run off the clock and gives you an opportunity to get your center backs up hopefully get another opportunity, but it's not without fighting for every single ball, which the Sounders didn't do in the first fifteen to twenty minutes of the second half. It's gonna be a Rosneck out swing with his swing his right foot, headed by Jackson, Reagan, saved by Semler off the posts and cleared away by the Union. Really good headed by Jackson,

got up well warn his header. Eventually your sister or referees calling it's the potential off soud I believe. See the replay right now as the bull comes in headed up and he was Jordan Royce yep, standing in front of who was Wagner. Then she cleared his lines, but well, good head and good save with the left hand of Semla and then she cleared by Wagner. That's about the first one we've seen Jackson get on the end of this season

with a good header. Ball finds us way to the far post and join just in eyeview, not making a play on the ball, but just enough to throw potentially the keeper off. He's ruled off side in that position, even though he doesn't make a play on the ball. Wagner hooks it down the line this near side Philadelphia's left. The ball bounces through to Andrew Thomas. In a seventy third minute SUPERU Park on the banks of the Delaware River in Philadelphia, whether the Union are playing the Sounders. Sounders leading three goals to two, but two quick five goals in this second half has put Philadelphia right back into it. Sounders is going to have to use all that experience trying to see this game out. Sound has not won a game yet

away from home, any one win on the season. That five zero drubbing of Montreal in the human field, I felt like it was something similar. We knew that Philadelphia, we're gonna come back so prolific at home. Here, Jack so Reagan knocks it down the line, Lesness steps up, the big central defender of Philly knocks it up in the air, out the bounds, fast side. Sounders thrown and Brad These are the things that the Sounders can just walk to take the time burn off. Some seconds kill momentum more

than anything. So that's the tricky part about soccer. When you're leading in a game away from home, you only have a one goal cushion, So yeah, you take your time when you go to get the ball, but when the ball's in play, then you actually have to play the game. You don't take your breaks when the ball's on the field. You do it when you walk off, right, because you know that Philly is going to

be sprinting to every single ball and now you'll see it here. They're going to get this ball and play as quick as possible, and the Sounders now have to switch on defensively and be ready to go. That's where they got caught on the two counter attacks, were switching off defensively, thinking that Philly might make a mistake or they're not going to push as hard. We'll just a start switching formation as well. It looks like fishing well done has slid

up to the left hand side. It is for now Rosneck sitting in the ten where Christian had started the game. Little bit more protection in front of new who defensively, you know the effort that Christian rol Dan puts in each and every game. Captain Tonight and replacement of Cephan Fry played his game, got a red card and if you haven't heard, that red card got rescinded from Saturday night, so he has the opportunity to play against the Galaxy on

Sunday. Big game for the Sounders traditional historical foe in La Galaxy and Greg Venni, of course his time as the head coach of Toronto when Sounders and Toronto played each other in three MLS Cups, Sounders winning two of those twenty sixteen, twenty nineteen. As Sullivan has it, far side, the right hand side, do you step over towards Knew who no fear from the young right midfield player gets one of one of the best one v one defenders in

l US certainly in seasons past. Be said for the whole backline. Right now, they all try to find their form, certainly their form of last year. They gave it thirty two goals to lead MLS. Defensively, it's Philadelphia retain possession far sight the right clip forward by Bedoya, It's Gould have bounced through and Jack Svegan's going to see that one over the end line goal

kick. Sounders remains Philadelphia, two Sounders, three Bret Evans. You know that there were going to be bouts where the Sounders had to defend, and this is fine. If you get all ten guys behind the ball and defend in a low block, it's really difficult to break down. Where we see that is when the Sounders play at home. Teams come into play and they sit in a low block and they really force the Sounders into being extra creative.

Well, the two goals from the Philadelphia Union didn't come from creativity. It came from a lack of the Sounders being organized defensively. So there's fifteen minutes left, get everyone behind the ball. If Philly starts to have some possession, that's fine as long as we keep everyone in front of us. Ultimately, you're playing a man up because the center back is always going to sit so deep, and now you got to take advantage of the counter attacks.

When you do have the ball, ball played into Jordan Morris right corner of the box, slices it, tries to find Vargas. Maybe he was he took taking a shot from all of eighteen yards. It was an angle on the right hand side of the eighteen yard box. But I've seen Jordan Morris crack those in practices and games before. It's a good build out of pressures. Vargas, who strode forward, found Jordan Morris inside a pocket of space, took a good touch forward trying to cross the ball. Brad,

maybe a shot and goal would have tested the goalkeeper. Yeah, it's a tough one, you know. In an Open Cup final, I took a shot, hit the post and I got screamed at by Obafemi and Clint, So you just never know. Ball comes in top of the six yard box headed by Jordan Morris, can't get it down, goes over the crossbar. Goal kick forward the union. But again, really good half chance for the Sounder is good delivery from the corner kick from rosneck outswinger on the Sounders right.

Good climb by Jordan Morris, just couldn't get up and over and guide it down, goes wide and high. Goldkate remains three two Sounders. Well, it's a second header from Jordan in the last three or four games where he's really had an opportunity. He's alone, he's risen. That ball has to go straight to the ground every single time. You don't worry about necessarily what corner you're going to put it into. You just focus on getting that

ball to the ground. And he's elevated high enough. We're trying to pick out the top corners on these headers. All you have to do see to the ground, make the keeper make a safe Maybe it comes off a post or it skips off the grass. And it's these little opportunities, these inches, right decisions that change the course of all these games for the Sounders this season. Ball clear up in the air, but I knew who fast side the left just inside is eighteen Yambo, So there's a cushion headed by Sullivan

managed to clear his lines, taking no chance. So we saw that with Jackson Reagan just a minute ago, clearing his lines, taking no chances. Harriyel has it, bowling his hands fast side. The right comes into McGlynn has been influential in the center of the part with that cultured left foot of his. Here he has it, whips it in with his left foot, cleared by Yama, Jordan Mars can't get it smashed by. It was Elliott all of fourty yards away, ambitious the six foot six cent to Beck.

It was high and wide. Go kick Sounders. Brad the team in green will take those kind of shots from a center back from forty yards. Yeah, it's fine. I mean he's scored a couple of goals in years past. But of course you're always going to give up a shot from forty thirty yards and you usually don't get yelled at unless Casey Keller's in the back of the that anyone shooting from everywhere. Everyone got screamed at for not two in

the red job. So the Sounders here slow and play down. The past ten to twelve minutes have been a bit better from the Sounders in controlling the tempo of the game. Right, So how did they close this one out? Last time they close out a game, the opposition got a red card and they walk away with one easy. Now it's game management away from home, and you'll start to see the Sounders milk the clock down just a little

bit here. But you know that Philly's gonna have two or three more high quality chances as they push even further forward on the flip side, Sounds had to take advantage of those. We've already seen three, four or five good chances from the Sounders to put this game away. And if they don't. That door is just left open. And somehow we both know when you're leading a game away from home, the opposition always gets three or four good chances. At the end of the game. You're always under the gun. And

we've seen it so many times when the Sounds are at home. It's that the inevitability of pressure turns into goals. And when you've got a record like Philadelphia have at heard and it's just confidence that they need. They've already shown that they can pick the Sounders apart. The sound as you mentioned, have responded really well. Now they're sarting to put some passes together. Just take the sting out of the game. Ball goes into the center to rawl twenty

five yards from Gold. Just back to Gold. Just gives the ball away cheaply. Let's look a little heavy. The last few minutes, bull gets flipped down the line by McGlynn, flipped up in the air by Sullivan. Ball bounces to Vargas. Good little step well played by the Sounders. Number eighteen gets out of pressure well. Ball goes in to Alex Roldan, tries to find a ball, ask him for some help, maybe from Morris,

maybe from Vargas. Let's see the final substitution for Philadelphia. Chris Donovan's gonna come on the field, the young attacking player signed from Philadelphi Union two back in twenty twenty two. He was an option coming off the bench, but it was Correnzo came into the bench and then on the field. So that's the fifth sub forth Philly sounder is only having made one so far with rouzneck As he cushions that ball to Jordan Morris. This nearside the right, about

five yards in front of the system of referee. Ball goes to Alex Roldan cut plays the ball square into a tensio was forward flicks it into Vargas who retains his balance. It's it out to Jordan Morris. It's nearside the right word one two with a tenia towards the endline. We'll play for the sound as can they clip it up. He can't try to find that back post.

Poor delivery from Morris, but the Sounders pick it up. Not cleared by Philadelphia Christian Rolldan rolls it out to a tensio who's gonna skip by. Gazdag stays on his feet. No foul given, just launched it towards that far post, dips up and away, and Ariel's gonna put it over the end line for a corner cake. The Sounders will take it. Well. We talked to Schmittz before the game. We need four runners in the box, and you have Jordan out wide, you have a tens wide and the

only runner in the box there is Raoul. So I don't know if it's tired legs or lack of direction or commitment, but one of those two things has to change. Jordan looks a little bit tired now. He played a heck of a game in DC, and now it's time to make a couple subs to get fresh legs on this field, because without commitment, without the runners, there's no point in the ball going wide and being served in the

box. Bull comes in and swing it by Rosne a little lo and short cleared by Philadelphia, sprints it back and retrieved by Christian roll Don Rosack holding his position, cheap giveaway by the sound as captain not like him, but he recovers and that is much more like him. It's honest. If a play you can get now, he just needs to get the ball off his fe play. It's simple, don't allow Philadelphia just squeeze in the pressure and they do that and win the ball. Sound as Brad as you know more

than anyone. I gotta keep the ball moving. Yeah, it's the most frustrating thing to be in these games, especially as a center back, and to watch in front of you three four or five passes given away, because maybe you're not sprinting in those moments, making these big long sprints, but you're thinking, Okay, if he gives a ball away here, I got to drop back five or ten yards. If he doesn't, I got to sprint forward when the ball turns over. It's all these little tiny mind games.

I need my midfielders to keep the ball and move it around so that I can get a break too. And as long as you move that ball, you're gonna get your moments to take a break, even in possession. Well so fans, if sounds FC scores anytime after the eighteenth minute during a home metch, you'll have the chance to win free Lasik surgery from Sharp Vision, modern Lasik and lens. Sign up today sound as FC dot com slash laser focus. Get here. In the eighty third minute, sound is up

with goal three goals two here in Philadelphia leading three zero at halftime. Well dominating display of finishing an execution from the Sounders. And there's a change with wondering when Brian will make his second change here it is it's going to be Cody Baker, and it's going to be Ral ruydiez So and outside fullback for essential attacking player. Rawuld done his job tonight. Two goals, one from fifty yards, one from twelve yards. Brian Schmitze giving his number nine a

high five with a big smile. Put in the effort today and again leading by example. Brett. Yeah, I think Raoul was fantastic tonight. He put in a shift, finished his chances. If he had finished that one in the second half, I think this game is put to bed and he'll be ruined that one as he comes off the field. But now it's up to some fresh legs to get on the field. I still think Obed's had a fantastic game this evening in winning the ball, recovering and being that real

lynchpin in there that's going to provide some coverage. Well, ball went over the top. It syn't refere eventually put his flag up on Christian Roldan, He's gonna have to get back in position. Looks like the sounds of me have shifted to a three. We'll see if that is a potential three with Cody Baker going on that left hand side. Knew Who Jackson, Reagan Yema

in the middle defensive played by Brian Schmizer. Just trying to see this game outs get here in the eighty fifth minute, nine minutes of at a time in that first half. Hopefully see nothing like that in the second half, No real meaningful stoppages other than a couple of VR checks. Sounders still have three subs to make. All goes out to Badoya right hand side, to

the foot of Gazda goal. Score of that second goal goes out to Sullivan close down by Cody Baker, gets whipped in header off the crossbar and cleared by Rouzneck. Sounders get away with one. It's gonna be a throwing on this near sight the left ten yards from the corner flag throwing four Philadelphia's Wagner, Who's gonna take four steps back get rid for a long throw. Sounders have struggles at times defending these crosses. Here comes a long throwing towards the

corner of the six yard box. Up and away by Alex Schualdon good headed by the Sounders right back, whipped in by Wagner, up high, looping up in the air, headed up by Sullivan, picked up by Harry L far Sight the right, closed down by Cody Baker. Whips it in with his left foot, easy for Andrew Thomas, collects it, force to the ground. An opportunity to just take the thing out of the game. Sounders

will be happy with that one. It's good build up play here again from Philadelphia Union that they go five in the back, whipped in with the right foot. There's really not much space there and it's a great header that comes off the crossbar. Maybe Andrew Thomas gets a finger on as we see a little slow motion one here, maybe gets a finger on it. There goes out for a throw in. Sounders under the gun. They do well and clear in their lines and forcing Sullivan to his left foot, easy catch for

Andrew Thomas. There's gonna be some pressure from Philadelphi in these final minutes. We mentioned their ability to come back from deficits in weeks past. Lanter two goals down, got two goals in four minutes to tie that one up, but your Sounders take a back hope to take on the La Galaxy on Saturday May fifth, at three forty five pm Pacific. Watch the match for free on the Apple TV app or FS one and listen on ninety three point three

KGr FM and l RA thirteen sixty am in Spanish. The Provident Swedish pre match show starts at three point thirty. Sounders are up three goals to two. Here in Philadelphia's the ball goes towards Sullivan Knew, who does everything he possibly can to prevent it from going over the end line? Who was actually Harry l Who's challenging New who picks it up. Sloppy foul from New Who that's going to be a free kick in a really dangerous area on the right

channel, seven yards or so from the end line. Unnecessary from the Sounders left back Bread. I just don't understand this. The back is the goal, the player's going away from goal. You have no chance of winning this ball, and if I'm an attacker, I'm waiting for any sort of contact. You have three minutes left remaining in the second half, plus a little bit of stoppage time, and now you give a free kick away in a dangerous position. You've seen the service already tonight. Just a silly foul again

from a veteran player closing this way. You expect more from new who in that position, and the center backs have gotta be insense on that one. Well, it's a chance for Philadelphia. As we approach the ninety minute, more ball comes in and headed up and away by Yam. A good solid defensive header finds the foot of McGlinn to Sullivan strikes the ball low. Andrew Thomas is a really good job of going down to his left and pulling that ball into his chest, says the Union players crashed on him. See a

replay. Here was a good initial defensive header by Yama as a team steps up, this time getting a little closer to the player shooting the ball from distance. Yeah, it's a good step from the Sounders defense making sure that they clear their lines in the appropriate way. And I know it's tough with a couple of minutes left in the game, but you gotta clear your line. Sounders do well there, and Sullivan, we know he's dangers with his

right foot. He tries the same sort of shot as Obed did in the first stop, but Andrew Thomas right position to make a clean safe mcglinch just wriggles free. If Rosneck tries to knock it down the line good headed by Jamar steps in. Sunda's playing in a three right now will drop into a five defensively Putty Baker coming on the field playing that left wing back position. Now it's rolled on on the right hand side, Jordan Morris's your loan striker.

McGlynn has it. This left hand side is going to go square into the center of the field to Pudoya, the experienced veteran player US national team player thirty six years old, club captain got its minutes in against RSL and their loss at the weekend. All goes into the foot of McGlynn. Has been influential, tries to find the ball in between Rosneck and Niegemarb. Eventually goes all the way through to Andrew Thomas, who just takes his time.

Let's a couple of seconds run off the club it up. I would imagine Brett just pushing his line up, clearing his lines. It certainly feels that the direction of the team today versus games past, is lit be dating chances get up and then then as you mentioned, challenge the second ball. Everything is clear here with a couple of minutes left in the game, you're challenging for every ball. Ball's coming forward. Everyone on the field knows now,

right. I'm sure they had a team mating the team meeting in weeks past, say and in this situation, this is what's gonna happen. And as long as everyone's on the same page, a Sounders should see this one. Out past couple defending sequences have been much better from the Sounders right position, allowing that ball to come into Andrew Thomas's feet. Make a couple changes tactically, right, you go with five in the back, so you're eliminating service

from out wide. You got tired legs up top with Jordan, so now it's still about plying pressure. Sounders have it right hand side, Christian Waldon just putting his energy through and just chasing Damn McGlynn. Please get back in position sometimes just let those bulls go down the line. Get back in position,

defend your lines. Christop rowdand slots into that number nine spot. Jordan Morris helps his teammate out sits on that left hand side as the Sounders drop in bank of five of the back as they defend five yards outside their eighteen yard box. Will comes into this near sight of Wagner. Got a good left foot, We've seen it already from set pieces, makes a running behind not trapped by Alex Roldan. Is he's gonna skip through? Yes, it

does, over the end line. That's exactly what the Sounders need. Four minutes of added time as Brian Schmitzeer makes another change. Jordan Morris put in a real good shift again tonight, and it's gonna be Paul Rothrock who's gonna come on the field as he did the last game and try and see out this game. So the previous defending sequence is fantastic from Alex Roldan, he knows he's isolated on an island and it's the left foot that's so dangerous on

this left hand side. Forces him to play only with his right foot and retreat perfectly cover from Yemar comes across textbook defending Sounders end up getting a sub, taking a minute and a half off the clock. Well, don't leave us. At the end of the game. Jackson felt Pete Fume will be back to break it all down and that postgame show certainly much to talk about

tonight. The ball gets skipped down the line by Sullivan has knew who gun's running through to see that ball out, So they're run over right about near the corner that it's going to be a throw in. Four minutes of at a time. Minute thirty of that four minutes already gone. As it ticks away, Sounders try to kill off this game. Can they grind out a

result? They all look very comfortable at halftime. Two quick goals from Philadelphia in the second half really challenged the Sounders, but they've responded very well, put away with a couple. Potentially if the crossbar, the Sounds will take it as they look for their second winner of the season, their first away game, first away game winner of the season. So to sit here on Sports Radio nine to fifty am, wherever you've joined us from, we appreciate

you joining us. So Sounders try to see these final minutes sound as you get two minutes of the four here in Philadelphia. Of course, this is a makeup game from that March ninth game that got flooded out Philadelphia. To look to launch it along, playing a bit more direct now as they knock it up headed by Jackson. Reagan doesn't win. It comes off the chest of Donovan who drops it back to Ariel who rolls it out too. But Doyle on the right hand side, he's going to clip it towards the far

post. Andrew Thomas just flailing at things. Sounders get away with one again, goes wide to the goal. Goal kick Sounders rains Philadelphia two Sounders three with a minute twenty left on the clock. Bret Evans h that's a second one from Andrew Thomas where he comes out fishing for that one. The win, like I said, is coming from the opposite end of the field, so everything is fled it just a little bit differently. It takes a direction

towards goal. Luckily the Sounders have they're two for two matched up on the back post and everyone retreats to the goal line. So good again, last ditch defending from the Sounders. Fortunate to get a goalkick here see how this last minute of the game, But silly mistakes, ball gets played out of bounds. Now Sounders under the gun with a quick throwing didn't need it a minute laughs, and the Sounders now stem this final attack, potentially for Philadelphias.

The ball gets launched long. You got the big men up, not challenged by New off the chest of Caranza, into the hands of Andrew Thomas. I don't know, Brad, you essential defend. You gotta go up and win that ball. Knew who allowed it to be flicked on Coranza took it off his chest. Maybe a possible handball. Well, it's not even necessarily about winning the ball, but it's getting a body on the ball at least something to challenge. Instead, he puts his hands behind his back and

keeps both feet on the ground. A see attacker comes up and number nine comes up to get ahead on the ball. Right Andrew Thomas, Bran Schmitza talks about DC United to this team did not quit. They didn't. They gave everything with ten men dominated that second half, couldn't get the result. Here comes Paul Rothwock. He just maintained possession. Go in the corner. Sun the ball gets flipped by a ten to It just needs to stay back.

You need to defend, you go you didn't go forward. There's a referees whistle back on four minutes and that's the win that the Sounders so desperately needed. Goals in the first half by Ralry dias'm all of fifty yards away got the Sounders going in toonight's game, followed by Vargas his first goal for the club, and then a Pananka penalty put the Sounders up three goals to nil at halftime, and a quick fire Philadelphia goals by McGlynn and Gazdog within

two minutes got them back in the game. But the Sounders so strong, used all that experience and ground out what was a really really important three points. Bret Evans, Yeah, that was a tough one for the Sounders. What you thought they were going to walk through with that first half performance probably the most free flowing we've seen the Sounders play in that first half, put three goals in on Philly, and you knew that Philly wasn't ever going to

play any worse than they did in that half. And they came out changed a couple, a couple subs at halftime, bringing in three veteran players, and it made a difference. Quick counter attacks, ball swung in the box, one shot from distance, and the Sounders are under the gum. But they hold strong tonight and that's a massive three points for the Sounders Well Branch Metz have talked about how difficult this place was to play. Philadelphia hadn't lost

a game in the regular season in twenty twenty two at home. They lost one game last year. This now is their second loss in two games here at home. Thanks to everyone here involved in today's broadcast, Mitchell Blake, Heay Dunning here in the booth, Kevin kay is always for his great information, and of course the Sounders legend Brad Evans don't go away, Jackson Feltz PFU. The Sounders FC Postsmat Show starts now. Well, I think we can breathe now sh What a win for your Sounders. Finally we can everybody together. Now, everybody together. Sounders win first road win of the year, second win overall of the season. But what a nerve racking second half that

was. Seattle scored three goals in the first half, a fifty yard strike from Ralridiaz in the thirteenth minutes, Obed Argas's first career goal, a fantastic strike in the twenty second and then a Pananka penalty kick from roalroy Diez in the thirty seventh minutes. Then Philadelphia and head coach Jim Curtin, one of the best head coaches in this league, made the halftime changes we knew he

would. He made lots of changes, including a Kai Wagner, including Alejandro Badoya, and they made a very big difference in the form of back to back goals there in the fifty minutes. In that range, Philadelphia scored what twice in two to three minutes and suddenly made it a three to two game. It was fifty six and fifty seven McGlenn off a corner kick that popped back out to him, and then it was Gazdag with a header on a

cross shortly thereafter. Well, at that point the Sounders had thirty three minutes to go. Knew it was going to be a wild thirty three minutes Pete viewing, but credits to every single Sounder player out there get into a few of these moments. But they held strong, Andrew Thomas came up with the ball when he needed to, and the Sounders win three to two, and once again we can breathe. Well, the look on Brian Schmitzer's face of

relief when he went to shake hands with Jim Curtin was evident. So you're right. They hung on for the last thirty three minutes and credit to them for that. It was tough. That is a very good team. We talked about how good Philadelphia is at home and the two goals bang bang, and we thought, here we go again. But the Sounders were able to get the resolve get back on track. There were a few moments that were dicey, but this is part of the process of getting back to the team

they that we know they're capable of being. So in that locker room. You know, they do a thing on the road sports fans where they sing jingle bells and I've been near that locker room and it makes everybody except the home team hate it well, really quickly. And on jingle bells. The best part about jingle bells is not only do you sing jingle bells in the locker room, but you bang on the lockers as hard as you can, so the home team can hear it from their locker room and just you know,

it's it's it's mental as much as it is enjoyment. And that's part of their process when they're on the road, is to be able to sing that song. And it's you're right that it's very annoying to your opponent. Cocky erroget whatever you want to say. You can hear it in Portland too, I have on a good thirty. They can hear it loud and clear in the Portland home locker room, you can hear it very I've never been

in the locker room. I've just seen it. But again, it's part of this process of getting back on track, and that was a good win. You probably you're the guy who decides this. I think he get the MVP of the game to Ruy Diaz. But the match, this, this is a good discussion. But oh but it was terrific, terrific. I think his best game as a pro. He was good in tight spaces, he made good decisions. He had some really good balls that he slipped in

his goal again, you know, watch the highlight. It was a world class goal. He he really wrapped his foot around and smashed it. It goes in in the EPL. No question in my mind, So Andrew Thomas,

you couldn't fault him for either of the goals. They were you know, three yards out and so, uh well, I thought I was gonna have to convince you on obad Vargas for the Toyota Man of the Match because I mean, not only the first goal, but you know, in that last thirty three minutes, Pete, I mean you saw moments where it seemed like Philadelphia was trying to find those seams in the midfield, trying to find those lanes, and on three or four occasions Obed would would come up with

a loose ball and then turn and make an excellent pass or make an excellent move to allow the Sounders to keep possession for another sixty or ninety seconds. His ability to do that helped the Sounders win tonight's game. He's gonna be, by the way, the man of the match, your local Toyota dos are probuc to present tonight's man of the match. Go ahead. Yeah, well that and Ruidaz isn't gonna like that, but well sorry, but you get it all the other time. And Ruy Diaz was a leader tonight as

well, and so was Christian rolled on. It was a good game, and you know, that's a good Philadelphia team. I don't think after losing at d C two days say oh, you're going to go beat Philadelphia. I don't think that was in the script. I don't think the gambling world would have picked Seattle to win that game, certainly not be up three to nothing at the half. So that's a good win. They've got a little bit of time to get back to Seattle. They'll get back tonight then and

then get ready for La Galaxy. That's a Western Conference opponent. Where now we moved up to twelfth in the West, nowhere near where the Sounders want to be, and so hopefully they can continue to make the climb up there. But I want to say we got a little momentum tonight, and I think that's accurate. We got some momentum tonight. Three goals is very good for this team. We haven't had a ton of goals this season, so that to me is good progress and we just got to build on it.

Pete, we heard the clip in the pre match show about Jordan Morris where I flat out asked him about, you know, what are the vibes like in the locker room right now? Man? And he's just like he was very very very honest. Or Jordan's like, yeah, they're not good right now. And you could hear how down Jordan was answering that question, like, you know they're not the vibes aren't good? Yeah, right. This is a type of win where not only do you get the offense of you

know, three goals is huge. I mean Montreal, Montreal, the five nothing was a little bit deceiving in the sense of Montreal went down to ten men. You know, this was a full strength Philadelphia team. And then you layer on to that it's on the road. You layer onto that it's against Philadelphia. You layer on to that Philadelphia has lost two home before tonight,

Philadelphia has lost two home matches in the last three years. You layer onto that the stats here from from Kieley Donning, a great broadcast producer. You add onto that the fact that the last time Philadelphia lost back to back games was April May of twenty twenty one. I mean, Philadelphia is a

team that doesn't lose games at home. So you add all of these things together, Pete, all of these things together, and they get to sing jingle bells, they get a fun flight home, which is across the entire country. This, this type of a game is season chang Yeah, it is. It's one of those that you look back, you know, twenty games from now, and you say that that's where we got started to get

our mojo, that's where we start to get our momentum. And the good news is, you know, we didn't start Risnack, we didn't start JP. So now, Cody Baker, they all came in. I thought it was great that Brian put the local kid in Paul Rothrock for the last couple of minutes to to kill out the clock, fresh legs, and he did a good job. He had a couple of times on the ball that he made the right decisions. So it's a good club win. And you're right, you're right, it is, you know, And it's right now.

It's nine almost ten o'clock there time, but it's not a bit real, real late flight. So you can get on the plane and you can laugh a little bit, enjoy it a little bit, feel good, get home and get ready, and we always get up for the Los Angeles Galaxy, no question about that. So that's you know, you're playing a team that

you want to get up for. It's a great rivalry game because it's such an exceptional club and they're way up the table right the LA Galaxy in second place right now, and so it's a great opportunity to measure yourself and again continue the bounce back process. We'll talk about LA later and we'll talk about that big game ahead. It's gonna be a very very fun flight home. Josh Atensio has told me how they play a game, a card game, and I'm not sure if the name of that card game is suitable for the

air, so I'll leave that out. We had to bleep it out in the interview we played last year. But they're gonna have a lot of fun. I can tell you right now, they're gonna have a lot of fun, lots of smiles, lots of laughs, lots of good times on the long flight home from Philadelphia. Sounders winning three two today. What a win it was. They held on, they got the offense, they got the

defense when they needed it. Well. Delta Airlines is proud to proud to donate one soccer ball for every mile ran by Sounders FC players this season the Ray Foundations One Mile, One Ball program. It's been a while. Sounders win three to two in Philadelphia, as is customary win the Sounders when we get taking care of business and that defense, most of those guys took care of business there in the final thirty three minutes, holding on to that three to two lead as the Sounders win in Philadelphia and Philadelphia only their third home loss in the last three years. Absolutely incredible. Well, it is time for our Emerald Queen Casino Play of the match.

We go back to the thirteenth minute and another wonder strike from Ral Ruediez. It comes Rudys Sole the goalkeep up the line of what's a goo fifty yards? Well, that's fifty yards from Raul Rudy has no exaggeration fifty yards. What an incredible strike from Ral. The Play of the match is presented

by Emerald Queen Cassino, the betting capital of the Northwest Pee. We can talk about the pinanka and the penalty in a minute, but the fifty yard I mean a couple of years ago he had like about a forty five yarder I think, but this from fifty yards was a laser beam. Well, he just he's lethal, right, and he looked up and saw the goalkeeper caught out a position and then he just didn't bash it over his head. He just wrapped his foot around it and bent it around the goalkeeper. The

goalkeeper had no chance. It was not even he didn't even attempt to try to get the ball. But Ruy Diaz, he's always looking to score. Always, he's always got his you know, the one he scored at Austin was phenomenal and that's what it was. Yeah, and he just smashed it and he hit a dipper on that one. And again these are all this is not luck. Neither of those goals was lucky. And this one he just looked up, saw the goalkeeper was open, wrapped his foot around it,

and the first time, and and then and then the pananka. Honestly, that takes a lot of guts to do that. Three times. He's had four penalty kicks. He smashed one lower left. That was the third one. But he went number one, number two, and number four ro all panenkas and you know, the goalkeeper. It just makes the goalie look very silly. And uh, I'm amazed that that he has the confidence to do that. That is when we say lethal, that's what a lethal striker

does. That's the mindset of a lethal striker. Then defensively, I thought he was good. He put in the hard work and when he scored the first goal. I loved his look to the bench of grit and hey, come on, we're going to get going. We're going to keep it going. And uh and again I had mentioned this, I think at halftime was in the game against Vancouver, he was taken out because of the red cards and and he didn't want to come off the field, but that was the

logical choice from coach Metzer. And then he left the field and and but then he came back on after the game. So maybe went and showered, stay warm, and then he got extra running it and some of his quotes early on in the season, we got a list of the coach. We got to do what the coach says, we've got to we've got to get going. I love to see that he's it's his team now, right And and I think, you know, with Nico leaving, who's going to step

into that role of a leader. And we saw it tonight and he was rewarded. I believe in sort of the soccer god small g right that he was rewarded today with two goals because he had done the extra work a couple of a couple of games back, so good for him. And uh, and he's not gonna be happy with you for not picking him the game. I play the match and what a goal was, and you're right as I

said, huh, can you have a tie? I'm giving it to Obed did great in those final three minutes to hold it down and defend defensively. Is young. He's a young kid, and physically, since we've seen him at fifteen or sixteen, he's been a man child. But today he showed the mental side of a mature kid. So speaking, by the way, it's so funny that this all shakes out this way. This is wild. What I'm holding my hand right now is the emailed lineup sheet from July twenty

second, twenty twenty one Sounders at Austin FC. That was the game where our roll had the forty five yard chip in Austin. It was also the game It's so crazy. I can't make this up. It was also the game where Obed Vargas made his first team debut with the Sounders. How many

should buy lottery tickets? I don't know if it's you, or if it's Obed, or if it's That was the night that the Sounders started five teenagers and MLS record and they got the win, and Obed Vargas made his first team debut and what do you know, tonight roll another long dis to strike and obed his first career goal. Congratulations to Obed Vargas. He deserved a

deserved Toyota Man of the Match for sure. Well, hey, listen, the Sounders won today and you will win tomorrow because you can download the McDonald's app right now and redeem your free McChicken tomorrow. I'm actually gonna do this.

you. Get that free McChicken. It's delicious, trust me, all right? Well, I seriously, I'm completely honest about this. M McDonald's delicious. I love those mcchickens, all right. So we've celebrated, we've enjoyed. I do got a quickly nitpick, and one of the nitpicks is is a brief one because there isn't anything backed to it, no Juel polo. There has to be reason for it, clearly, Brian Schmenzer will be asked about it in the postgame press conference. We do not know why Joel Paulo

did not feature in this match. Clearly leading three to two with thirty three minutes to go, JP's presidents wouldn't mean a lot on the field to this team. He could have added a lot. That leads me to think he might have been unavailable, but nothing to that. Brian Schmenzer will assumably have more in his post match press conference. The other thing, Pete very quickly knew who knew who, for my money, is to blame for that first

goal from McGlynn from distance coming off of the corner kick. He did not step to him and left so much space and McGlenn hit it right past him and into that corner for the goal. We saw a moment late in Philadelphia's attacks where Philadelphia has sent a ball forward and he just stood with his hands behind his back instead of kind of going up and fighting for a ball. Uh, Cody Baker, we have talked about being you know, nipping at his heels, you know, fighting for that spot and trying to get more

minutes. I did not see what I wanted to from in Brad Evans, you know, bluntly talked about it on the broadcast too, and he was not happy with what he saw from New Who. I was not happy either, And I listen, if I'm in that room, I am pushing for Cody Baker to get minutes on Sunday over New Who because that did not make me happy watching New Who play today. Yeah, he certainly had some lapses. And and here's the deal. Uh, you've got La this weekend.

You've got Belonga coming in. He's got I think he's behind me a longest with LAFC. We have Galaxy coming to town. That's good, but listen, Pencils coming to town, Richie. With La Galaxy, it's a dangerous attack. It's a dangerous attack. And so you say, okay, when you have that kind of fout firepower coming in with the Galaxy do and knew who is one of the best, one of the best lockdown has been choosing my words carefully, has been one of the best lockdown defenders in this in

the MLS. So you got to show them the video. There's where the lapses are. You have to show that and then and then you have to hope that he can rise to the occasion against LA. I don't know that you make the change because of who you're playing. If you're playing a team Dallas or San Jose right now that are struggling at the bottom of the table, maybe you send a message, but you might not want to send the message for this particular game because LA is so potent with their team. So

I don't know. You definitely have to show these things and ye and you have to say, look, these are not mistakes that a guy with your experience in your time in this league should be making, and we need better performance. So you can use it as Hey, you're going to need to make sure you have a great game against LA or Cody Baker is on your heels. And Brian Schmitzer likes the grit that that kid from Iszaquah, from the Azaquah gunners right that he provides for this team. He's also a blue

collar defender for sure. Yeah he is. And and he'd go on the right side or the left side. So I I get your point, and I and you're correct. I also wonder if, because it's La with the firepower, they have not Bowonga excuse me, thinks the pencil. Yeah yeah, but making sure that they get there. He's so athletic and he can recover. He had some blunders today that have to you got to look at it. He's got to raise his hands, say that's my fault, and

then he's got to fix it, which he is capable of doing. I would hope that he does do that. We all obviously know what happened for the DC match, and there was a disciplinary measure and he was not available. So it's it's that and that I wonder I want to I just wonder about New I I really do wonder about New Yeah, and you know what you send messages. Ariaga being traded to New England was a message, right, he gave away a ball that cost us a goal. Well, I

mean that deal had nothing to do with that play. I mean I know that that deal was was being worked on I know, and was a player who there was rumors with Austin and everything else going on. So that timing unfortunately worked out where he was traded after that was his final game. That was a very unfortunate, but I mean it was I think that if Ari Yoga didn't do that, he still would have been traded to New England. Was it was a good deal value to So yeah, disconnected on those two

but it does. But but when a guy gets traded there's reasons behind it. Maybe it didn't happen in one day and you're gone two days later, but it was building up toward that, And so Brian is having to make decisions right now. He's it's man management in professional soccer, right It's how

you manage your team. So what's the messaging, what's the what's the word that, what's the message he's sending with new who whether starting him or not starting There's probably a zero percent chance Brian's listening to this on the podcast version. But Brian, if you are Cody Baker over knew who, I just send a message after after what we saw today in the final three thirty three minutes. That's my two cents, Okay, and us. I love Cody Baker. I can't see enough of Cody. Yeah, we'll take a break

here. In the postmatch show, we'll come back and we will talk about the LA game ahead and Seattle having a big, big test, but trying to keep the vibes high. I will say that Sounder's e FC Soccer is presented by Provident, Swedish official healthcare partner of Sounders FC. More next on the postmatch show following is Sounders three to two inin in Philadelphia on Sports Radio nine fifty KJR AM. In this edition of the Marketers Report, Angela is

The measurement capability with an audio I think surprised all of us, but all of it's been extremely helpful and we have seen a huge return on our investment. The methodology by which we're approaching audio and then seeing the real results with real numbers has helped us continue to invest moving forward. Welcome back to the Sounders FC Postmatt

Show. Following a Sounders three to two road win in Philadelphia. It's their second win of the year, it's their first win on the road, first road win for the Sounders since Decision Day last year in Saint Louis. Great to see it from the Rave Green today. Two goals from raw Reyed he has one from fifty yards, the other a penalty kick which he went pananka for the third time of the year. And Obed Vargas got a goal as well, the first of his career. But let's take a look ahead at

what's next for your Sounders. They come home for a match this Sunday against the La Galaxy. We'll have a three o'clock Providence Swedish premat show and about a three forty five ish kickoff at Loumin Field. Watch the match for free on the Apple TV app, or listen in Spanish language on l Ray thirteen sixty. Our Providence, Swedish premat show will begin at as I mentioned three

o'clock and get your tickets today by visiting soundersfc dot com slash tickets. In the break, I mentioned that last segment there I would love to see Cody Baker get the start for new who. Alex Roldan was given an additional one game suspension for his red card offense against the Vancouver white Caps a week and a half ago. That means he will be suspended the additional game against the

LA Galaxy this coming Sunday. So because Alex Roldan is out, you would assume Cody Baker is going to slot in on the right side, which means knew who I would assume would slot in on the left. So there that idea very very quickly bright side, we will see Cody Baker more and then that's great. But yeah, so by the way, on the availability, Stephen Fry's red card against DC was rescinded, so he will be available against the LA Galaxy. So that back five, it seems Alex rolled on out.

So you have new Cody Baker, Jamar Jackson you'd assume, and then Fryan goal or maybe maybe Brian Rewards Andrew Thomas. I don't know, but it seems like it will be new Who and Cody playing together out there against a very very good Galaxy attack. Yeah, and great opportunity for Cody Baker. He continues to get minutes and take advantage of him, and that's really

important. You know, when we're up three to nothing at halftime, you're thinking, Okay, can we get some of these guys on, get them some meaningful minutes, get them meaningful minutes with the key players on the field, And Cody Baker's been getting that throughout the season. So yeah, I'm assuming he'll start on the right and you know that would be his preferred side frankly, yep, because but he does well on the left hand side.

So that's a great opportunity and I think he'll rise to the occasion for that game. Yeah, I think Brian would have kept knew Who on your points are valid. There were times when Knew Who fell asleep a little bit and you can easily point to him. And he's got to get better at those decisions and those positional things. I thought, you know, on that first goal that McGlenn hit from Gosh, twenty something yards. Yeah, we were slow to get out and that drives a goal keeper crazy and you got to

sacrifice, you got to throw your body in front of it. But again those are things to learn from. We got three points today. That's it gets you some momentum and then everybody's going to get excited to play the Los Angeles Galaxy. Big game there coming up on Sunday, alumin Field. Look forward to seeing you out there at the CD and once again three o'clock pre
