Welcome to the Sounders FC pre match show presented by Provident Swedish Tonight from the Emo Queen Casino Bitch at Luminfield, your Seattle Sounders FC faced Minnesota United FC. Today's fiftieth anniversary celebration match is brought to you by your Western Washington Toyota Dealers. Toyota Let's go places. The prominent Swedish pre match show starts now, good evening from Luminfield, where tonight we have two very important things happening.
Yes, there is a tremendously important match kicking off in forty five minutes against the Western Conference rival Minnesota United as Seattle looks to jump above that playoff line halfway through the twenty twenty four season. But also tonight here at Luminfield,
we celebrate fifty years of Sounders history. Decades of greatness will be honored tonight as the nineteen seventy fourteen that started it all will be inducted as the inaugural members of the Eternal Sounders Circle of Legends, featuring a banner that will be in the southeast corner of the stadium. So yeah, it is a very special night here and a very important night here. Both on the field
and just in the history of this club. You know, if you're driving around right now, if you if your Saturday night is open and you're wondering what am I gonna do this evening, come on down here to Loominfield and be be part of this very special atmosphere. We have a head for Sounders and Minnesota United in the fiftieth anniversary match. So with fact, welcome into the Sounders FC pre match show presented by Provident, Swedish official healthcare partner of
Seattle Sounders FC. Jackson Feltz here alongside Diego Ario. We are here for the next forty five minutes and then it'll be Danny Jackson and Brad Evans with Michelle Ludka on the sideline. They will have the call for the Sounders and the Loons as they call them out there in Minnesota. Uh, Diego. We'll get to the circle of legends celebrations soon, including Adrian Hanauer down on the field. And by the way, today's fiftieth Anniversary celebration match is brought
to you by Western Washington Honta Dealers, Toyota. Let's see Western Washington Toyota Dealers, Toyota let's go places. So we'll get into that celebration soon, butdo for now, let's talk about this team on the field and one week ago Kansas City road match, things didn't exactly go his plan. You got an early goal from Jordan Morris, but you give up the equalizers. Seven minutes later, you go down a man when Reed Bicker Whiting gets the double
yellow, and then you give up the winner. They're late against KC, who get the win off their first win in their last eleven matches. Last week did not go as plan, But I have the short term memory as an athlete, right, you know, the memory of a goldfish, and it's about turning around last week and getting back to the five to one and three run that this team was on just a couple weeks ago. Yeah, hey, Jackson, how are you at pleasure to be here a special night
as you say, the fiftieth anniversary talking about all that's your memory? Yeah, if you're considering this is a special night celebrating. Oh, that's a funny point, isn't it. You really have to, you know, turn the page and really look at what's gonna be here at Lumenfield, Right. I think that game against SKC. It was you could see it as a hiccup, right, Yes, unexpected loss, especially after a team that's been struggling. Peter Remiss hasn't had any good formula this season with his team,
even though has a good a good team. But I think the Sounders, yeah, even though it was tough and n in Brian Schmetzer during the we was saying, Okay, now we own the mistakes, but it's time to turn up the page and also turn up a notch, especially because now there's a lot of players going to Coup America, so a lot of teams including saundersuit, but like there's gonna be some changes in terms of the roster, and I think now is the time for the Sounders to really focus on start
winning points, especially as we head up to Leag's Cup and it could be a good run for the tame. Yeah, it's absolutely. It's a great point, the fact that COPA is featuring I mean, we'll get to talking about Minnesota a little bit later on, but their team that is getting absolutely I wouldn't say decimated, but they have major absences because of COPA America. Sounders used to be one of these teams where you know, come Euros or come Copa, they would have six players gone, seven players gone, all
these names that we know. You know, remember you know Gustav Spencer was Sweden and everybody else, you know, Christian Jordan, et cetera, et cetera used to be and everybody went and the Sounders in the month of June, and this time it was it was rough. But this time it's not at all. I mean, knew who's back from his time with Cameroon, congratulations, and knew who for scoring by the way with Cameroon. But you know, it's it's the Sounders who are at full strength, and it's the
visitors in Minnesota who are not at full strength. And to come back to I think you your initial great point. It is funny how I'm talking about the history and they're all talking about I'm sure Brian's talked to the guys about the history and what tonight means fifty years of Sounders. But at the same time, it is definitely the short zer memory where you got to forget even just last week because not to you know, spoil the delta starting eleven,
which we'll get to in a moment. But we're seeing changes on the field tonight. That definitely sets Bran Smetster a motive. This hasn't worked here recently. We need to change things up to make sure it starts working. Yeah, now totally, and I think I will talk about that at starting eleven. But I think bras Metzer knows that they need to punch first, especially against a Minnesota team that, yeah, they have a lot of starts are
not here. So it's one of those games that even though if you look at the paper right, you'll look at Minnesota and nited third place, Seattle Sounders tenth place, and there's a big eleven point difference I think in terms of the quality today we'll see I mean talking about sunders player, why player, It's gonna be a better team for sure, right, and also with that extra motivation that you're gonna get from the crowd, from all the ex
players X coaches here that are here at the venue, I think sells are
special. It's a special time. And I was looking at the you know this week at the interview from branch Metter with the media and here saying at the end of the day, the players on the field need to understand that it's it's it's something special to where the Sounders Jersey in particularly tonight, to see a lot of players that would have the ability to play at some point and to show them a yeah, I'm proud to wear this shield because I
mean, you think of let's just put ourselves in the in the boots of Christian rolled one right where in the one hundredth anniversary of Seattle Sounders FC, he you know, will be a person who you know is of an age where there's going to be somebody walking along from the seventy fourteen, right and the seventy four getting inducted into this you know this this circle, you know what it's called the circle of legends, right, So you know Christian has
a great opportunity to be part of that legend group in the one hundred year anniversary of Sounders. Right, he'll probably go in earlier than that, but he'll be honored in that one hundred year celebration. So for put yourself in the shoes, how do I want to feel watching that team in another fifty
years? I want to make sure I play like that tonight in the fifty year anniversary in front of guys who played in seventy five, who were a part of that club, so I think that absolutely has to play into it. And a little bit of added pressure, I mean pressure, you know makes diamonds, right, So I hope we see a diamond like performance here tonight. Let's start digging into it because if I say anything else, we're gonna start to ruin the surprise at the starting eleven. Let's get into the
delta. Starting eleven for your sounders. Stephan Frye is in goal, the legend in goal who's been here for you know, the decade that he's been with so many epic moments fitting that. Stephen fry starts here in the fiftieth anniversary match against Minnesota. You're back four. Has Alex Drolledan on the right and knew who as we mentioned back from Cameroon. He's on the left. Jamargomez Andrade Jackson Reagan are your center backs. Holding midfielders are Jual Paulo and
Obit Vargas. That means Christian Roldan will be up on the right wing with Vargas back. We'll talk about what that could mean here in a little bit. Albert Rusnak in the middle of that band of three attacking Leo Chu on the left wing, today and Jordan Morris is up top, Draredys, He's not hurt, he is on the bench. Big big change there, Diego Chew in left wing, Jordan up roll out now listen, man, that's worked really well with that speed and Jordan Morris sliding in from the winger spot
in transition on the road when this team is playing in transition ball. Is it the right call for Brian Schmetzer to make this change for a home match? I think it's it's a good bet from branch Metzer to change things up right. You were talking about if it hasn't worked in the past, you need to change something up I do like and we can show you know, we can see how Jordan Morris in that position as a nine again last week even though they lost, but that goal came from Jordan Morris and it was
also a good transition play last season. Also, Jordan Morris was the top goal scorer for the Sounders for a reason too, and he was playing that position. He felt confident and comfortable giving that opportunity. I do like let Chew having that speed and then connecting with Jordan Morris on top and the good thing too, like you have already, Ys, the top goal scorer for this founder's history on the bench, not injured, who can come on in
any minute. I think that's that's the best case scenario for French Metzer. Like I thing it doesn't doesn't work out in the first half, you already have a role that can come and change the things up in the second halve. It is interesting that you know, as tonight we do is to today's the fiftieth anniversary celebration match brought to you by Western Washington Toyota Dealers, Toyo Let's go places. And in this fiftieth anniversary match, your leading goal scorer
in club history already is is not starting. It is. It's one of those things to bring back to it. It's the shorter memory versus and the acknowledgment of the past. It's it's those conflicting things, and we're seeing that pop up in this decision to bench hole. Yeah. I mean it's again, it's it's a bet that it can go either way. Right, if it works to his favorite then it's it's it's uh, you know, we'll see it back and say, ah, that was a good decision. It
was also branch of metz Aer like went for it and it worked. I think also, let's say if for some it doesn't work the first half, right, and the Sounders are down by a goal, then you have role as an answer, right, you have that again, that powerful number nine that can come from the bench and really change things up. Right. Leo Chu meanwhile, big opportunity for him. He's been injured, he's in a
tough time seeing in the field. This is a massive opportunity. But he's got to do something with it. Yeah, I think we Loo Chow, we see, we cannot doubt about his quality. Has a lot of quality as a player and has good games. But I think to me, is the consistency right that Leo Chuo needs to show and also in this particular game, and with added pressure to your point, the question is is he gonna
show up right? Because it's one of those scenarios that some players show their value and sometimes they don't right, They can choke up, they feel pressure.
So for low Chwo is it's a really big test. And also I think Brancha Mesa said, Okay, I'm gonna give you the opportunity, but you need to prove me that I was writing the decision for you to start the starting eleven Jackson Filth's Diego audio here with the Sounders FC Providence, Swedish prematch show counting you down to kick off, still about thirty five minutes away from Sounders in Minnesota. Now to here Atlum Midfield, Diego. I love
working with you because you're very much a tactician. You work in that tactical mind, and I wanted to kind of talk to you and see what you're seeing out of Obed Vargas and Christian rolled on the way that they position themselves each game, where one of them will start next to JP and the holding midfield, one of them will be on the right wing, and then sometimes
they'll flip back and forth and there's a lot of interchange there. We've been seeing it now for probably about I don't know, five six matches or so. How do you evaluate how that interchange is going between those two and even sometimes Alex when he gets up the field. I love it. I think that's one of the qualities that Christian around the world then has us a player
that he's able to play in multiple positions. He showed it. I think the Sounder's him playing in the right back right for Alex at some point. But I think he has that ability of coming also in the midfield fields really comfortable and then giving obit the exposure to go on the right side. Right
they're all on the right wing. I think alway, it's still learning, right what I can see, he's really young, but I do see the potential to become that type of Christian Roldan being able to play multiple positions and depending on the play sometimes is good to have, you know, fresh legs like oh with Bargas who can go all the way run on the right and then you know, connecting the past. So I do like it. I say, I think that needs more repetition. But that's that's a good a
good a good switch. Sometimes that happens in positions that it's it's you know, it's rehearsed obviously in practice after practice, but also in games sometimes when you need our response, that could be one of them, right, absolutely, so, well, there's what your sounds are thrown out tonight really quickly
will dive into the Providence Swedish team health report. Nobody is out, three players questionable, Nathan questionable with his squad he's still out, John Bell questionable the hamstring he is available today and then also Pedro dale Vega questionable with a
hamstring. He is out tonight. We'll take a break here in the Provident Swedish premat show will come back and we will talk about Minnesota United, the team visiting the Sounders tonight here at Luomenfield is to night's fiftieth anniversary match, while more of the Providence we just premauch shown next on Sports Radio nine fifty KJRM. seconds, we went from clear skies and went a little bit gray. I mean, just about ten minutes ago it was nice, the sun was shining at the start of the premat show, and then now it is a full on downpour here at Loomin Field. Everybody whipping out their ponchos as we see it's just it's almost like a wave right now as we watch a wave of the of the green ponchos getting put on by everybody because suddenly, I mean in the last thirty seconds it has gone from gray to absolutely coming down hard.
Sounders players in Minnesota night at all warming up on the field, but yeah, it is coming down in sheets here at Lumen Field. Wow, this weather turned it quick. We give you the end that last segment, the situation healthwise for the Sounders. They do get John Bell back today. Nathan Pedro de le Vegas still out. I'll mention that today's team health report is presented by Providence, Swedish official healthcare partner of Sounders FC. Also,
if you're just joining us, should mention as well. Yes, there's a big match here Sounders Minnesota United, but also today's fiftieth anniversary celebration match. It's brought to you by Western Washington, hont Toyota Dealers. Excuse me, Western Washington Toyota Dealers, Toyota. Let's go places. And with that we are just about less than thirty minutes away from kick here at Edmonald quene Casino Pitch at Luin Field. Today's countin and kioff is presented by Emerald quene Casino,
the entertainment capital of the Northwest, Diego. Let's dick into our sharp vision opponent Aller talking about Minnesota United. This is a Minnesota United team third place in the Western Conference, twenty nine points through sixteen games. That's eleven more than Seattle and tenth place. But the teams are both even on goals allowed. Both of them have twenty one goals allowed. Their defense has been pretty good, but as we talked about last segment, they're missing three very
key players in tonight's match. Yeah, that's that's what I think. That's gonna be crucial tonight, especially again playing against this team. That's poised to get a win. And Minnesota even though it's in third place, and yeah, it's a it's a pretty consistent team. I would say over the season I've been able to call a few games and it's a team that doesn't matter who's on the pitch. They have the same mentality. Obviously, with the
three players, they're gonna mention that they're not too in tonight. They're gonna diminish their possibilities right to get good results because we're talking about quality players that really not only generate goals, score goals, but also are the ones who really pays with the ball right, really quick, and I'll give those that's forward. Team Upooki, a finished striker who's been great for them this year. He got injured while on duty with Finland here last week, so he's
out. They're also missing a really good twenty four year old Nigerian born Canadian attacker, tany oloasai I. Hope I got that right. Leeds Minnesota with seven goals, also has or assists. He's out because he's with Canada Copa America and they're missing their goalkeeper, Dane Saint Clair, very good goalkeeper. He's with Canada for COPA, so they're missing all three of those guys. But diego on the other side, and you can speak to this having called
a bunch of their games. They have a lot of different players from forwards to midfielders, especially who can find the back of the net. There's a lot of guys who have two plus goals on this team, and they are mostly all out there today. So this is not a Minnesota team where you say, oh, they're big stars out and you know they're gone. This team, this Minnesota team has a lot of very good players that could burn the Sounders tonight one hundred percent. And I think we can start with the
player Robbing Laude with has tennis sists. It's it's second in the league after a guy called danel Messi, right, so you can see who's generating. He's inerating a lot for the team, has fifteen goal contributions in total. He's that one of those midfielders that's gonna the ball is gonna go through he him when they generate plays. We also have Bungie Klonguane who has to us
he's so far this season. He's also on top tonight and has a lot of potential last season, also scored seventeen goals in twenty twenty three in all competitions for Minnesota. So's he's a player that we should be, you know, keep an eye on the twenty three year old from South Africa. We have also has Honey Dodson, who's also a good player native exactly, and
he's he's also I think you made an excellent point. It's a team that maybe they don't have like these massive starts, but they have quality players in different positions that I think is going to be crucial. Yeah, the three that are missing are going to be important, but I think they still have some players to show. And we also have on top of the South Korea Johnsong Bean who also has three goals if I'm not mistaken this season. That's
also a guy who he has a chance. He can you know, shot from shoot from outside the box or even you know, finished calng a bunch of games. I'm supposed to move on, but I have one more question here before we move on from Minnesota, because for somebody who he's called a lot of Minnesota games for Apple TV, I'm sure you've spoken with Eric Ramsey a couple times for production. So for those who don't know. This is
an interesting situation. Eric Ramsey is their head coach. He came over in when there was already a few games into the season Minnesota season had started. They fired head coach Adrian Heath at the end of last year in October. They didn't have a head coach for the first couple games. Then Eric Ramsey comes over. He was an assistant with Manchester United since twenty twenty one before he came over. Pretty darn good. And then here is the icing on
the cake of this whole situation. He's thirty two years old. I'm the same age. It's Minnesota United head coach. It's crazy, right, So in your conversations with thirty two year old Eric Ramsey, head coach of third place Minnesota United, what is this guy all about? Is he bringing the Manchester United flavor to Minnesota? No, definitely. I've itate's amazing, right to see such a young coach two years old, and I think that that's that's a new trend too, right. We see that was the national coach
for Germany Nagles. Mind is thirty six years old. Right, he's the youngest coach ever in naiuro So I think that to me what impressed me when I talk to his knowledge is so vast and also so young. But also he has a lot of energy that voices the players, and I think that's really important. And also he has a really good record. Right so he started in March, he's like six three four, like six wins, three guys and fourth less. I mean, basically he's being crucial to put the
Minnesota United in third place right now. It's amazing when Aeric rams he's on thirty two years old and he's widing it up. I wish I had time to go into the whole Emmanuel Renoso situation. Maybe we'll do it if we have time later, because it is hilarious and wild. But we don't have time. We'll take a break here, we'll come back, we'll get to our Sounders players to watch, and we'll also get to the keys of the match that's coming up as if we begin to celebrate fifty years of Sounders soccer.
There. It's gonna be quite the sight here at lumin Field. If you're outside on the concourse, I know it's the rains lit up a bit. It rains not nearly as hard as it was five minutes ago. Sit in your seat and get in the stadium and get ready to enjoy this wonderful, wonderful celebration of fifty years of Sounders Soccer. We'll take a break, we'll come back, and we'll continue with the providence. Were pretty much shown

But we're also celebrating fifty years and as we bring out now, this will be the largest gathering of Sounders alums we have ever seen in one place. Right now that you just brought out the nineteen seventy five through nineteen eighty three Sounders, including the inaugural seventy four team. That will also go in to the Sounders New Circle of Legends here in a little bit. What a scene we are watching is they come in from all directions, all decades and
all years of Sounders. This is about I've heard about one hundred and fifty with family members all the way up to about two hundred, two hundred and fifty people here today to celebrate the history of the Seattle Sounders. It's just just absolutely beautiful to watch here. But as we continue the pre match show, I'll mention that we talked about Minnesota United, that opponent ALEC was presented by Sharp Vision Modern lascon Lynz, the official Lasic provider of Sounders FC Diego.
Let's move forward. Let's jump back to Seattle and get your player to watch for the Seattle Sounders tonight. I'm gonna go with the young blood Obit Vargas. We're talking about that transition that he's able to do with Christina Roldan. I want to see more of that and also a dominance in the midfield. Right he has a really experienced player, okay side Joe Apolo who is teaching Talk Team a lot during the season, and I want to see him
keep growing. So Obit Barga is gonna be crucial in that center mid tonight. I love that. I'm gotta go with Biochu for you out getting on the left wing tonight, Jordan Morris start in place the roll read he has who goes to the bench tonight and not hurt rolls on the bench. Leo's
starting and it's Jordan up top. Huge opportunity for Chew, just massive, Like all right, kid, you've dealt with some issues in the past, You've dealt with you know, challenges, you've dealt with the injury, and you know now to be back and now to have this opportunity on the fiftieth anniversary night, the spotlight is on the kid. Come on, Chew. Let's see it tonight. Let's see some runs. Let's see what we saw in Kansas City last year. I want to see getting behind the defense.
You know, Michael boxalls old, he's not as fast as he once was. I need to see Chow to Morris tonight. Time is like four or five. I just need to see that. And you don't have to score on all of them. Obviously, be great if you did, but just more from chw more runs, more and more and more from him. So that's what I'm looking forward tonight. Well, let's quickly move on here, diego, and let's get to your keys to the match Sounders Minnesota night before
we celebrate fifty years and hear from our owner Adrian Hanauer. What are your keys to match here tonight can see the match. I want to see intensity from minute one, especially showing that it's a special night. The Sounders need to dominate and get that ball possession from the get go. Avoid my second one, avoid mistakes in the back. We've seen that through the season some games, in particular, unnecessary mistakes that they need to be safe in the
back. And the third one also, I want to see scoring the goal opportunities in this case, I want to see a Jordan Morris playing as a nine, to really see the first forty five that Saunders can be on top in the goal scort oh point. When you see that, we will take a break here on the Providence. We just pre match show Sounders continuing to
celebrate fifty years. We'll hear from the owner, Adrian Hanauur and celebrate the Inductor, the first members of the Eternal Sounders Circle of legends here the nineteen seventy four team that started it all. Will continue with the pre match shown next on Sports Radio nine to fifty KJR AM. That will be happening in just a matter of moments.
Here as we head down to what is right now, Diego truly a chilling site as we see more than one hundred and with family members, it looks near two hundred people representing all of Sounder history, and we see taking the stage right now the team that started at all, the nineteen seventy four Seattle Sounders. Because we look down and just look at this history of this club that's now fifty years, it's it's kind of make it you emotional.
It's hard not to just reflect on the brilliance that is this club right now. It is remarkable, it's amazing and just seeing different generations the players, how each generation has made part of this amazing club. At fifty years, way more to go, but it's just truly amazing to see at the love
of this club and so many players coming from different countries. He then right to come and celebrate the Seattle Sounder And that's one of the things I think that has made this club so amazing is freeing the different people from different areas and walks of life together. It's absolutely brilliant. No, a soccer match must be played tonight, Sounders Minnesota. You know, the history between these clubs has been just phenomenal for Seattle. I mean, since Minnesota joined MLS,
what is it here? Seattle is just dominate him ten to one and two. They've outscored Minnesota twenty five to eight. They are perfect seven zero to oh in the regular season here against Minnesota, and then they also beat you in the playoffs three to two in the twenty twenty West Final last season. By the way, Seattle beat Minnesota here one nothing on an Albert rusnet goal. But here is Adrian Hanauer coming down to celebrate fifty years of Sounder
soccer. Let's sit down here for the own. This is super humbling to see all of these legends, this amazing group of individuals their families who have built the history of this great club over these fifty years. Thank you to all of you for everything you have given this city, this community. You really do not understand how much you have influenced all of us in this building, those of us who have fallen in love with a beautiful game, we
are forever grateful. Team is at the center of everything Sounders. So it is fitting that the initial inductee into our new Sounders Circle of Legends is the nineteen seventy four original Sounders team that started it all for this club. You are the pioneers. And with that I would like to introduce or bring up Dwayne Nakamura from the Alliance Council to officially induct you into the Circle of Legends.
On behalf of the team and fans, we are excited to formally induct the entire nineteen seventy four setl Sounders into the clubs Eternal Sounders Circle of Legends. In honor of their induction age member of the nineteen seventy four team, we'll receive in one of the kind Eternal Sounders Circle of Legends jacket presented to
them by current and long standing Sounders season ticket members. As we see now the nineteen seventy four team being given jackets a banner that will go in the southeast corner of the stadium here in a banner that will be dropped here momentarily as owner Adrian Hanauer honors the team and we continue to see just this incredible group of Sounders for now, for nineteen seventy four, for all time Seattle Sounders Soccer, a tremendous site here at Woomen Field ahead of tonight's game between
the Sounders and Minnesota United. You know, yesterday was a wonderful day out at training out of the long Acre's facility. While we have a moment, let's quickly hear from one of the Sounder legends, a former MVP in nineteen ninety five, a former Golden Boot winner. Peter Hattrup, a wonderful person in Sounders history, a wonderful representative of what it means to be a Sounder.
He spoke yesterday after training down at Long Acres. But that's why I want to say, because what we are right now obviously this amazing facility. You've seen it in the days when it wasn't like this. So how would you kind of described a journey that SOCA in Seattle was taken. It's light years ahead of where it was. Yeah, I mean it is. Soccer is the same, but everything surrounding the actual game is ten times better. Yeah, I mean. And there was a stretch during the late seventies and
early eighties where the interest was there. They were drawing thirty plus thousand in the Kingdome, but the infrastructure around it, the facilities, the press, all the marketing just gone leaps and bounds. The availability of it. For we got to watch soccer and made in Germany on PBS, a one hour condensed version on Sunday nights, and now people watch watching games from all over
the world a whole week long. There's no change to it. You know, we'll all get out of here and go watch the start of the Euros here a little bit, and that just didn't exist, I think for you mostly, I mean a midfield journeyman, right, but you did stake your claim here in Seattle, like this is your Seattle through and through, right, Yeah, I mean I grew up here, you know, I always
wanted to come back here. You know, like I said, I was a fan of the Sounder, that I was a player, then I was a player coach, that I was a season ticket holder, Sounders Legend, MVP, Golden Boot winner from the nineties, from the nineties. Taking a step forward here, Eric Freiberg part of the MLS history of this Sounder team,
what he has meant to this team. He has had a fun conversation yesterday after training of Legendsay, obviously, but I think we're generally now sitting with one of the like real fan favorites, like a very very loved plans ye how he loves how so much. He came back twice and he's here with us right now. Eric Freeberg, good to see you, man, Good to see you. I saw your like most infamous interview when you saw
the team in Spain. Uh. Yeah, that was the funny thing I've ever seen when I talked Spanish before the Yeah, yeah, no, it's going to be in English. Yeah, but I don't speak Spanish. That was one of the best clips. Ever. How did you learn when you're doing an interview that when you talk you held the mic to their face and they talk you had the mic in front of you. I think I think the Sounders organization was pretty bad because someone need to tell me, like she's
going to start the Spanish and English. That was I I think I handled that situation pretty good. I don't want to compare anything, but can you what what's a memory you have from your first spell in Seattle and then also from the second spell because two very different teams. I think you came to Yeah, I think in eleven. I mean that was as a person, was the first time I left home lived outside of Gottenburg. And then the league was not that good that it was when I came back, for sure.
But I would say that group is probably one of the best groups I've been been in. Like in the locker room, that's Eric Freiberg. He is here celebrating fifty years of Sounders soccer. We will step aside now because this is a great celebration fifty year anniversary, but there is a big game to play. Sounders Minnesota United. Danny Jackson's Brad Evans will be on the call. Michelle Leo get down on the sideline. They will start miss Sounders
Minnesota and United next on Sports Radio nine to fifty KJRM. You've been listening to the Providence Swedish premat show. Sounders FC sucker. Good evening and welcome to an incredible EQC pitch at lureman Field decked out with tifo and colors all around for this fiftieth anniversary celebration night where your Sounders face Minnesota United. The season gets betteran bets for Minnesota after starting the season with interim coach Cameron Knowles, having gone unbeatening those three opening games, they hired the youngest ever MLA head coach in Eric Ramsey for Manchester
United and they continue to evolve and grow. Sitting in third position but only three losses on their season. They are going to be a very stern test this evening for your Sounders. They are a motivated group that is ready to show their alumni brethren that they have the ability and desire to turn this season
around. Disappointment again last week versus Kansas City is testing the result of this group, But Brian Schmetzer doesn't have far to point to show his players who they are playing for and the values they must uphold, grit, perseverance, excellence, community. These are the trademarks of the Sounders past, and they need to be the foundation of Sounders present and future. I'm Danny Jackson sitting alongside former Sounders captain and legendary alumni Brad Evans tonight. Before we get to
Brad, let's get you the delta starting eleven for your Sounders. One big change for Brian Schmitzer tonight, Stefan, Fryan gol A back forth, roll down yim or Reagan and then Knew, who back from international duty, will play on that left hand side, JP alongside Vargas in the middle, rolled down on the right, Rusnak in the ten Leo Chu comes in on that left hand side, and that means that Jordan Morris will play up front for
Minnesota. A three five two clint owining goal, about three of Ariaga box or tapay us pluck and paddlefoot on either side, Fragapanne, Dotson and lud in the middle, and then Jong and Long Janey up front. Minnesota will get against kicked off. To look at this incredible tifo, It says Seattle's own Sounders FC shows the history, shows the passion, the stadium is packed in. Here we go Minnesota, knocket back to Ariago's got a lawn ship
long and they got something to prove coming into this stadium. Haven't won here at Central Link and that's an early Collie an a nasty collision of heads. Dwichroll Don goes down. The medical staff. Come on as we take a slight break here, Bred, let's get your thoughts. You're out on the field. What do the team need to do Tonight's get it back on track. Yeah, Look, I think it's a case for all Sounders tonight.
And we always ask ourselves what are you playing for on the field, and tonight it's got to be a plan for the players pass that have shown up today to show their support for this group of guys and to get a result on the field. And on the flip side, it's Minnesota with twenty eight, twenty nine points on the season already and what a fantastic start that they've had. This is a big test for the Sounders. Can they get the
job done? You talked about it last week against Kansas City. Unfortunate loss there at the end, and now it's about riding the ship and you need a catalyst and you hope that tonight is a little bit of something. As we watch this injury here, that's almost worst case for the Sounders. The energy that was just in the building the first kick. You expected the Sounders to get up, win the header, get down the field, and now we got a stoppage and play. The fans go quiet and they'll have to
regroup themselves. Looks like a pretty nasty head to head challenge just seconds into this one, Yeah, player surrounding Alex Roldan, who's getting medical tension from Chris Cornish and his staff. As we mentioned, Minnesota United, something to prove coming in tonight. Eric Ramsey talked about in some of his interviews this week. Something to be motivated for is to get the first win here at
Luminfield. Seven regular season losses here. And then, of course that memorable three to two win in the twenty twenty playoff in front of an empty stadium. Sounds a two nil down with fifteen minutes to go, and it was a combination of Will bruin the seventy fifth, Ruy Diaz in the eighty ninth and then the winner in the ninety third minute. Firms Svenson to continue to get some treatment here, both clubs, both sets of medical staff on the
field. But Brad, maybe take a minute as we've got a chance to talk about the fiftieth celebration. Talk about the players who have come back in town from all over the country, really all over the world, some players coming in from Europe. A big gathering up top today. Pretty special weekend. Yeah, look, I think I think you hit the nail on the head is as you look up top and we spent some time up on the fan deck and there was it wasn't just the players coming back, it was
all the families coming back too. And that just says how much it means that every single player that has stepped foot on this field, even for a short amount of time, right, we pay. I played with Stephen King, he was here two thousand and nine expansion Draft with me, got traded early twenty ten in preseason. He's only here for one season, but for him to come back and celebrate that with us, right and bring the wife
right experience everything that it was to be a sounder. And then you talk about the group of nineteen seventy four that was just honored tonight on the field. You had a great speech at the beginning of this game, and I think talking to the guys, it means so much, right, it means so much just to be here. But then you know, you get a sweatshirt, you get a bobblehead, and it's the little things that matter the
most. And just to recognize that group of players from nineteen seventy four all the way up until today, it just means it means the world to the guys. I got chills as all the processions were going on. And it means a lot to the fans too, right, you get the standing ovation from the fans from every single era and they understand. And then also you're going up against a Minnesota team that has its own history as well. Well. With this long break, the players are gonna start to get reset.
We gotta take it the chance to go down to Michelle for the first time. Good evening, Michelle, Good evening, Danny, And I'm happy to report Alex Roldan is up standing on the field walking off now on his own accord, which is a great site to see. Ire checked in with the Sounders medical staff and they told me that they will give me an update on what exactly happened and what they're concerned about here momentarily, So as soon as I've got that, I will make sure and get it to you guys.
But in the last thirty seconds or so, it is great to see the Sounders get at the ball, kind of get some warm ups going again, trying to get loose, as you said, they're going to try and to look to regain that momentum and that energy that we were feeling pre match here at Womenfield. Thanks Misha. Oh yeah, it was paddle for I believe he went up for the header with Alex Roldan. Alex Rowdan still just making his way gingerly off the field. We know how careful medical staff and clubs
and the league are now with head injuries. It's gonna take the time to take a check. You're to have a look at the doctor to do his concussion checks with Alex Roldan. But thankfully he's on his feet, he's able to walk off the field with the medical staff. And as we mentioned, Brad, there's a yep. We're looking down on our monitor right now. It's gonna be a quick change. Looks like it's gonna be Paul Rothrock who's gonna make way. We'll see if maybe a Christian rolled on. We'll shift
back to right back, push Rothrock up on the right hand side. Ball's gonna get launched along. Now the energy has to come back in the stadium. It was big and strong and powerful, and now we have to get it back. The fans are gonna have to do a big job for these players. It's been a long wait to get out in the field. It was a pushed kickoff because of all the celebrations for this fiftieth anniversary. Players were standing in the tunnel for a good while, longer than normal. Now
we're going to see a quick substitution on both teams. We'll get those in short order. As Minnesota build out the bat with Oriaga press from Rosnek and he's all it can do is Oriago's knocking out of bound, picked up quickly by Leo. Truth throws it into Rosnik, plays in a square inside the box to Morris dropped to the top of the box to Vargas press quickly to Yamar to JP tries to switch it. Sean comes back to help, playing
a little deeper. Right now there is long Jane good powerful play by Jackson Reagan. He talks about the importance of showcasing what this team can do. A couple of his old coaches were out to practice on Friday. JP picks up the ball its near side and Fred, You've been in situations like this where you get all this energy from the crowd, all this energy from the game, and then all of a sudden, it just lulls. It just takes a little while to get back into it. Yeah, it's easier when
you're your wayside, right. That's your goal as an away team is stepping into the home field and trying to take the air out of the stadium. And unfortunately, I haven't seen that too often where two players go up for a header and both are being subbed out the field, Alex goes to the locker room, their players sitting on the bench. Now doesn't happen too often. And now it's about regrouping and getting together as a team. And if I'm the Sounders, I have to get some life back into this crowd.
How do you do that? You get the ball to Lao two, You play some balls over the top, and you make that crunch and tackle like Jackson did there. We'll certainly not the start that Brian Schmitz a once. It feels like it's much of what the season has been just bad luck at times. Yes, some bad play here and there. For sure. There's a new hook coming off his first international goal for Cameroon. He's the ball out of bounds and here comes Paul Rothrock and here comes a change for Minnesota
as well, and Jordan adebeo Smith. So Smith's gonna roll up front. Jongs that to play on that left hand side. We'll see if they adjust formations. There's Jp just going in sharply. He is on Jung. It's gonna be a foul about twenty five yards or so from the end line, just inside right channel. That's what you want. Sometimes if you're at number six, how many times you see Ozzie do that? Gustas Fens and do that. Let's get into that challenge. Yeah, you're gonna give up a
free kick. Hopefully it's early enough in the game that it's not too productive. I don't mind the challenge, but maybe a little further up the field, right, Let's let your forwards do that. But sometimes at number six, that's the way they get into a game is by making that challenge. And now the Sounders have to figure out it's tough for Christian. You got
to drop as a right back now switch positions in game. Brothrock has to come into this game with confidence, one that you didn't think that you were gonna start. Now you got to make an impact. Well, that's so change, Paul Rothrock, Bon Alex roldan Off. It comes combinations young and lud on this right hand side. Is it gonna be the left foot of Luod to whip it in? I was younger to curl it in between goalkeeper and back line sounders holding their line just a yard or so inside the eighteen
yard box. Big men up box Solariaga, big strong, powerful players up in that box for Minnesotes. Luod with his foot comes in well clear by Christian, rolled down to JP, goes into Rossack flicks it down the line. Yes, he does not not enough on it, and on wharle he comes back hook down the line by Oriaga Jackson. Reagan with his left was going to clear it down the line headed inside by just sets away with it
ship bundled off by Dotson on obad Vargas herecar Minnesota. Jong just loose on that first touch, knew who getting license sharps some big long strides and a slash of blonde hair in the side of his head his celebration celebratory haircut for that first goal. What a header from knew Who. I'm not sure he knew too much about it in the game, but he knew the celebration afterwards, we know Knew who has been playing a bit more offensive over the last
handful of weeks and months. Of course, playing on that left back position, it typically stays home with Alex Roldan pushing higher, but Ran Schemetz has given him a license to move a little bitther forward. Here he comes and steps and does what he does well, which is defending. As he drives forward, blood comes across right in front of Minnesota bench. Referee gives the free kick. Sounders have a chance to whip a good ball into the box,
but they go short quickly. Leo chu so Jung just dropping the shoulder towards the end line. He goes on his left foot, comes off Jung over the end line, first corner kick for the soundest and that's fine from Lao two. But you see the extra cover coming over from Ariaga. Every team knows now Leo Chwo is gonna line you up and go one on one, and I don't mind that. A hunny times will be seen in games
past. Lao two puts his foot on it, brings it back. Go ahead, have a goal, you get a corner kick out of it. If you give us that three, four, five, six times and a half, I think Schmtz will be happy. He's Albert rossneck arm up this left hand side is the inswinger with his right foot men pecked into the box, goes in short slips up to the top of the box. Challenge by
Livid Vargas. Jack Vegas flicks it over his head. Is Rothrop with his first involvement in the game, got a great chance to cause problems for this coaching staff in selection in the weeks to come. If you can just get a good performance in he's gonna have almost a full ninety. Within almost the first minute, when Alex Roldan got injured, the game was stopped. First meaningful challenge of the game. Certainly branis Schmetz, so I'm sure be asked
about that. Hopefully we'll be in the soundest favor where they can get resorted and come forward. There comes Fragapahni Argentinian Brigal's free double team by Obert Vargas and Rosneck and JP just Hounding in the middle of the field. They talked about the energy that the alumni can bring. Just a special night for everybody in the stadium, a special night for the players, a special night for
the alumni. Can they harness that energy? We see the biggest change for the Sounders this week was dropping Raoul and bringing in Jordan as a number nine all over the top just got pulled off by Clark as he rolls it out to the left hand side to Dotson, it looks like that maybe shifted to a three of the back to match up with Minnesota. Maybe that change bread,
Yeah, and that was gonna be my point. You saw as soon as the Sounders get on the ball, they know with Leo, ju was Christian and Alex Pothrox still was from speeding some power and then Jordan up top. They dropped with five in the back and then immediately they shift their outside backs high and for the Sounders have to take advantage to push knew who up or Christian. Now you have the option to push either one up because we know that both of them can defend as well. But Jordan's got to be
the outlet tonight. He wanted this and wanted to be a number nine. He's got a couple of goals in the last few games and it's about him taking charge of this position tonight. The sound is knock it long over the top to Jordan Man. Jordan Morris sent a couple of goals from the top. Can he get there? Headed through to Clint Irwin and does Clint Owen, the goalkeeper for Minnesota, picks it up. We gotta throw it down
to Michelle. Thank you, Danny. I just spoke with the sounder's staff and they told me the official word on Alex rolled On is what we thought. He is being looked at for potential concussion and that is why he left the field and went into the locker room. If I learn anything more during the match tonight, I'll be bringing you the latest that again he's being looked
at for a potential concussion. Thanks Michelle. Yep, those concussions. We of course know the challenges that his brother Christian had a year with that concussion that continued to stagnate and his season actually came back towards the last latter part of the season. A quick little adjustment for Minnesota. Shong's going to play on this right hand side. Now started the game up front, Clark's on that left hand, so I shifted from right to left. That's going to
be the substitute Smith who's going to pop up front alongside Long Janni. It comes, Clark whips it in with his left foot high, Long bounces through. It's going to be a goalkick for the Sounders. Here in the thirteenth minute full lumen field nine fifty KGr am. It's nil nil between the Sounders and Minnesota. The most difficult part playing against the three five to two is you know that that midfield is gonna be clogged. Right there's five in a
line when Minnesota has the ball. Sometimes, if the Sounders have it in their defensive third, they're gonna sit five in the midfield and it makes Albert's job really, really difficult. But they're only playing with one pivot. So Albert's job then can I get on the left side, right side and find those pockets to unlock this defense. Albert's been very good the past few games, but now it's about can he find that final pass at home? Right
at home? That's what we need to see from a number ten tonight YEP five assists on his ue got off the mark with that great free kick. They come the Sound is building center to this near side the left, a new challenge well by lung one as he comes back and does his defensive duties. Sound is built with some patience, but we know it's possession has to have a purpose at times. Sound has a been patient. Now it's about
trying to find some wins at home. Well given away by JP. Middle of the park is Dotson cuts through the lines ad to Beyo Smith who rolls it from center to this near side the right to Jong one on one versus New steps in Well. Referee already puts his arm up Sounder's direction. It's gonna be a throw in four. New rolls it in quickly to GP BacT to New who is GP build Sounders in their anniversary kid, of course,
are in an anniversary kid on this anniversary night. Green shirts, blue shorts and white socks tacking the goal to our left, the north end and the Minnesota all in black tonight they're attacking the goal to our right to the south. New has it this left hand side. As you mentioned, Minnesota trying
to find their first win here at lumin Field. Paul gets knocked down the line that Morris is needed to pick it up, just takes it off his toe by Boxelos coming back to help back to Clinton Owen in sider Jordan Morris receives ahead of for Mobid Vargas coming from an offside position, rolls back through to the goalkeeper and watch that play developed know who gets the ball just on top of the eighteen and Jordan's already making that diagonal running behind and Boxel's overplaying
it by ten or fifteen yards. The other four defenders are ten yards in front of That just shows you every team is so worried, especially if you're boxing right. He's got to be thirty three thirty four four years old, Yes, a ton of experience, but he doesn't have it in the legs anymore to get in and match Jordan's speed. Jordan just unlucky to not get a touch on that one in the right direction. Long while he makes her run down the right inside, John has it ball his feet right from the
sounder's bench just clips it inside. So lud Who's been another revelation this season end of the club mentioned many years signed in July twenty nineteen. Five goals, ten assists in his season so far under Eric Ramsey. And then the first part the Cameron Knowles ball goes out right in front of Brian Schmitze wearing his thick jacket. Tonight all right, now doesn't need it. Sun starts to beat through from the West Stadium in almost full shade. Certainly the field
is as the ball gets not long picked up by Minnesota. Got some time and space because Dotson Federal Way native, so big night for him as well. He'll remember the night days of Sounders soccer in his backyard. Need at Oregon State gets a start in midfield mentioned nine players and on international duty last week, or goes into Ariaga, hustled and challenged by knew who down this
left hand side hook clear picked up by JP minds Rozneck. God to find that pocket of space, as brad Evans mentioned, it needs to be in control, dominant in that middle part of the field. Given away cheaply by Yamar unnecessarily. And that's the kind of thing that we want. Some momentum bread and ball given away and then given right back to us by Minnesota. Flick towards roth Rock and then over the far touch line thrown for Minnesota.
A couple of giveaways there. Look, those will be the things that drive you crazy as a coach and as a player on the field, to do the hard word to recover the ball. Knew who presses high and it's a long ball from Ariaga. We win it. Go Seyemar, no one around him and plays the ball out of bounds. In the past four or five six games, you've seen that from the center back just Aaron passes a little bit too lacks. You have to take pride in having the ball and keeping
the ball. And on the flip side of that. Talking to the legends right now, Peter Hatchup says, what's the one thing the Sounders need to do? Unlock Bull down a lance along wanting mistake by Jackson, Reagan manages to recover, ball comes back eventually just hack claar top of the box. Good bought by JP shot by Dotson, Bull pops up into the air,
challenged by Rothrock. Top of the box again, there's Jackson. Reagan hook said, clear cushion ball from Ariaga to Jong right in front the Sounder's bench, five yards in from this near touch line as they attack the goal to our royight a half a mistake by Jackson Reagan and those are the things that the sound Is back line really need to eliminate from that play Bread Yeah, and we touched on here just a second ago, was eliminating silly passes.
Like I said on the flip side of that though, we talked to Peter Hatchrim. What's the one thing Sounder's legend midfield that we have to take a chance in the final third. We have to take a chance slip a ball in behind, even if it doesn't come off for everyone talked about it in the past. Maybe we'll win the second ball, but that's Albert's job tonight. Get in behind would be that link up. There's chewball over the top for Chew. He managed to get the ball heads it across the field right
to Minnesota player on that left hand side. Comes off the hand of Rothrock as he challenged the ball. It's gonna be a free kick for Minnesota. They get it going quickly well. Today's fiftieth anniversary celebration match is brought to you by Western Washington Toyota Dealers. Toyota Let's Go Places get here in the nineteenth minute. Of course, we'll see how much time will be added on the end of his first half. Should be a good chunk for that head
injury. Alex rolled on for the sounders. We had to go off the field. It's like the first minute, number of minutes of a medic attention. Managed to get to his own two feet and walk off the field, which is really good to see. Sounds that to readjust crowd now need to get back into it, but we'll get shifted from Reagan to Christian Roldan now drops that right hand side the place of his brother. Alex says roth Fox's gonna make a run inside is to come back and find the ball again.
The foot of Jpeach clips it down the line far side the right. Christian Roldan getting forward. Now he's got the ability and license to move up that right hand side. He's gonna be a thrown for the sound It's gonna take something special from the wide play. If Minnesota's gonna sit with five in the back, someone has to come up with that shifty move. Right. You saw Paul Rothrock get him behind, and I'm not sure why Albert doesn't just
take a chance he's got his defender beat. He's running full speed forward. Give your players an opportunity. You've ever seen it with Layo two on this side. If you don't give them the ball, they're gonna stop making the runs. At some point that ball has to come as the run has gone given away by Vargas. Just delayed slightly on the pass that deflectsed through it, but picks up a sound is is not left inside towards the end line, Leo True towards the front post Jordan irs Conco. I get that in
the hands of Irwin, the Minnesota goalkeeper. But good quick, incisive play. Why this sound is right and it gets the crowd into it a little bit and it's a good switching first time ball from JP And I think that Leo two has to try and get over that one. As the ball's bouncing, he doesn't have time to take an extra touch. It does as well as you can. Jordan gets to the near post and just a little bit
short on that one. Clinner when makes a decent say, but both teams a little bit sloppy on the ball with passes, not just the Sounders but Minnesota also still trying to get into the rhythm of this game, the rhythm of the pitch, and someone injecting life into this one. Well, the rain that we had before the game certainly would slick up this surface. Typically we see the grounds keeping steph hosing down the field to a put of moisture on the turf. No need to do that tonight. Is Oriogo clips it
down the line towards Smith who lets it run. It skips off that turf, then unnecessarily over the end line by Yama. May you laid back to this goalkeeper or put clear? You think bread and Stephan Fry is asking for it on his right foot. But as a defender you're looking back. You have pressure for mine if I mishit this one? What if I put it far posted? It's a normal right better safe than sorry. The sounders opully
clear this one on the corner kick. But Minnesota has been good on set pieces this year, and this is one they're gonna live and die by today. If it's not coming from the run and play, we're gonna play for set pieces. The sounders need to be switched on. Find you mark Battle is John with his right foot outswinger. He's near side. The right up
goes Ariaga well heads it over the end line. It's gonna be a goalkick for sounders here in the twenty second minute Sounders nil Minnesota NILS score is presented by Toyota. Wherever you're listening to us, if you synced up on Apple with that broadcast, or you're in the car, or maybe even with your headphones in taking a walk on this nice evening now after flurries of rain today,
you appreciate you joining us Minnesota to pick it up. Given away by the sound as far side the left comes inside to Dotson, Who's gonna swing it big Raking pass to its near side to Jean picks it up no real pressure. Bull goes down the line to long one eight. Combination of JP holds him up and new who comes back to Jean. Hen sustained possession of attacking half of the field for Minnesota with Luod shifts that across to to Pis
out to Clark towards the left corner of the box. Little combination with Fragapauni managed to pick it up and then Fargas comes across the world, hooks it away, goes out the far side for a thrown from Minnesota. You can see what Minnesota's trying to do, and what I like is, yes, they switched the point of attack with a long ball, but if they decide to keep it on the pitch, it goes and plays one two touch and
they zip it around the back. They skip every player that they can to get it on the other side, and what happens, Sounders have to shift over. It's a quick little one too, in a better touch from any one of those Minnesota players inside the box, and it's an opportunity the Sounders have to be switched on because you know that that switching ball is coming. With a three to five to two. You're always trying to find the far side in a three five to two. As you're told, just hug the
line. Rubert Vargas made a decision this week to go play for his native Mexico lieu of playing for the US. It's been a great start to his campaign this year. Those first goal for the Sounders, of course, there's been a mainstay in the middle of the park. Shifted a little bit to that right hand side and rolled down, moved into the center of the field. But back alongside JP today Leo Chu has it left hand side five yards from the end like clips it inside to rosnack, little combination, sloppy given
away, all's gonna roll just about over the end line. Referee says that it went out and then in kind of found the contours of the turf and found itself back in bounds. Everybody just waited for a second. If we made a decision, it's gonna be a goal kick for Minneso to well. Talking about Obed, I think it's the right decision for Obed if you're not gonna get called into every single camp with the US, and you get the
choice and that's the country you want to represent. I saw him a couple of weeks ago with a game and he had a Mexico jersey on asshen what's going on? He said, that's what I want. And when a player knows what they want, you got to go and get Maybe US aspirations are playing in the MX. No problem with that. He'd fit in perfect down there. Obviously applies his trade here, but it's a player that knows what he wants at such a young age, and I think Mexico will give him
that opportunity. Well, he talked about it, reading and listening to what he said in the last couple of days talked about one of the losses us versus Mexico. It pained him the Mexico lost and not told him what his subconscious was telling it. That he needs to go play. Go with your heart exaltly, and of course Mexico are in full reboot. Maybe it's a great chance for him to continue to establish himself here for the Sounders and then
get those international call up opportunities. He certainly hasn't failed in producing performances when he's been called upon. Its not forget that CCL Championship when GP had to go off with an ecl injury that ended his season. Obed came on the field and played wonderfully to earn the Sounders and Mls their first CCL challenge.
By rock Or picked up by Jordan Morris. We look quiet so far towards the endlane of his left foot breaks it across picked up by Well down far side, blocked by Clark, comes off left wing, backs heels, goes over the far touchline, throwing for the Sounders. Good pressure from the Sounders as Jordan Morris finds a pocket of space inside the box. Good positive play from the Sounders. And what does it take. Sometimes it can't be beautiful.
It comes from a crunching tackle. Jordan's on the right side of it. It's a good wit ball across. I remember a game playing against Colorado, picking that same ball up on the corner and all you're looking to do is guide it into the far corner across traffic. Christian unlucky to pay us on Rothrop yellow card, first yellow card of the game, and it's an SGB yellow card. When a fowl is called SGB trial lawyers are here to
help visit SGB dash law dot Com. A good chance for the sound is on that right hand side, the far side, the right Sound is attacking the goal to our left, sixteen yards or so from the end line, just tucked in from that touchline. Really good chance for the Sounders and Rosneck to put in a good delivery here. Big men are up. I thought about this one before the game. At this point, with the Sounders set pieces, it's gonna be an individual effort. It can't just be these set
plays. It's gotta be a well whipped in ball obviously, but it's who wants it more at the end of the day. When you saw it today, in the Italy game. Who wanted it more? Right? Center back comes up and smashes the ball for our posts. It's gotta be the same situation. Someone's gotta put it on their back. Say I'm gonna rip away from my defender and I'm gonna put this one in the back of the net.
Well, let's see if Jackson Ray can can get his goal. Big powerful player of course, dominant in the air as he should be, that big frame. He's got assists for the Sounders gon assist this year, forces last year. Could he get on the board? Ball comes in Jordan's backer the net and it's just as great ever as ask for the Sounders get on the board. Here on the Fifthier Anniversary celebration, Sounders won Minnesota nil. Well, it's a well whipped in ball and you saw a little bit of
a design player. That's Jackson Reagan come to the farm post. I thought the ball would be teed up to Jackson Reagan at the back post, but's sure enough, it's Jordan Morris fighting for his life in there, makes a great run, perfectly timed, pushes his defender, gets it on right at the back post. Right, that's what we're always taught as strikers. If you're not gonna put the ball directly in the back of the net, it's got to be hit to the ground. The surface is went. Keeper's got
no chance as it skips into the back of the net. And you see the team celebrating as a team. Something fun something funny, right, Maybe that's what this team needs to get. Go. Oh and little design celebration at the end of that one. Jordan whip's away here, a little push in the back of foxhole, I think, and it's just a great header to the back post cleaner when nothing he can do about it. We done,
Sounders. Great delivery, great header, great celebration. As Minnesota get is going down the left hand side, they get to get trying to get a quick response to Sounders. Of course, know that the first five minutes after screwing are when you are most vulnerable. It's new who has it won't be one versus young good defending by knew who and there's Minnesota get sent for
a corner, Kate, We'll throw it down to Michelle. For those not watching the match tonight and just listening, that celebration that Brown was referring to
is great. The entire team gathered and sat in a circle, knew who was waving up Stephan Fry all the way from the goal to kind of join and it really points to connas that Jordan Morris made earlier this week about how tight knit this group is and how they're all bought in, they all believe, and how just like in twenty sixteen, there's still so much left to play for in this season, even though the first half hasn't gone their way.
Jehn Wibson and thanks Michelle clared by Yamar Grosneck closing down Dodson as the ball goes down the line, trying to find Roth Rock good defending by Oriaga just clips it through his legs wins. The ball flicks down the line, Sounders have it. His left hand side is Rock. Hoock slides down the left, tries to come inside, lud comes back to do his defensive duties,
saves the ball, Walter back to Irwin. Sounders need to be solid here in these next few minutes to sustain and the pressure that is going to come from Minnesota. Try and get right back into it. But what a start for the Sounders. On his fiftieth anniversary celebration, newho has it left hand side five yards from the end lines. Long shimmy with his hips. See the confidence of that goal for Cameroon. He's an attacking player. Now there comes jp just in front of the minute, so it's bench go square
to obed. Can the Sounders now find a second goal? Looking for the found nothing given by the referee. Jeong striding forward across half way line past Christian rolled On got time and space as Jackson Reraken comes along. Good solid challenge by Christian rolled On comes off the Sounders number seven over the far touch Line's gonna be a throwing twelve yards or so from the corner flag to look back in quickly Paul gets an efferently rolled out of bounds by Frank Apaune.
Mean, you know the Minnesota throwing don't look like it came up as sound As player, but evidently it did. I think that goal was injected some life into the crowd. You see more people standing up and in both teams right. Minnesota now pushing forward and putting the Sounders under some pressure. The Sounders need the second before half. We haven't seen that yet this season. We need the second goal just to take the tempo out of the game,
regroup at halftime and talk about some tactics for the second half. But so far, Paul Rothrock putting in a great shift after he's come on. You see that little extra effort, his desire to get forward, to get into a crunching tackle. That's what you want to see. And now you see you see Lao two on the right hand side, Jordan, everyone wants that ball in behind. Now, look how high Minnesota's line is. One of
these center backs. Just dip your head down to put the ball over those center backs and you and I know that's the last thing we want to do. It's chaser Jordan Morris running on my own goal, all share when you sent it back, you just team that one such don't have to look. You just tightenly drill that ball into the channel. And we know this turf field will hold up, especially being a new turf field and got the speed
of Leo Chwu and Jordan Morris. Rothrock's a willing runner as well. There is that ball over the top doesn't elude Jong but well he can do his head the ball out of bounds. But Rothrock challenge not the outside midfield player from Minnesota to the deck. It's gonna be a free kick for the men in black. The Sounders FC Socker is presented by Provident, Swedish official healthcare partner of Sounders FC. Let's a quick reminder. First minute, collision of
bodies Paddleford and Alex Roldan. Medical staff came on. Both players had to go off suspected concussions. Not taking any chances. There comes Jordan Morris. Can you get that first? There's a miscommunication between Erwin and Ariaga and a few choice words with each other. Sounders throat get it in quickly. Jordan Morris has it this near left Corners flicks it over the top towards Rothrock and again as Ariaga knocks it over the end line, still having words with the
goalkeeper. It's gonna be a corner kick for the Sounders. Here in the thirty third minute Sounders one Minnesota Neil Jordan Morris gold. Great start for the Sounders on this fiftieth anniversary celebration night. That's how it starts. It starts with old Ben Vargas not even looking, just putting a ball over the center back's head, and then it's constant pressure. You win the second one and it's a little invented in this there from Jordan to flick that ball over the
top and then Rothrock another flick. Sounders are good. There's rising at one armor and on his right foot bowing comes out, punches. The ball bounces top of the box, picked up by Obed Vargas, challenged by Dots and far side the right comes inside five yards to Jordan Morris. Another flick towards Leo Chwo, this time challenge by long one and coming back to do is defending from a corner kick. Sounders pick it up towards the halfway line,
rolling in from inside right to inside left. There's Roznak driving forward Rothrock inside towards the endline. Website on the sixth well clear by Minnesota. Jordan Morris had a chance picked up well by Christian rolled on pinched way in from his right back spot. Rosnack's top in the corners. It'll whipping it in towards that back stack. Poor delivery goes over the end line. Goal keep Minnesota in the thirty fourth minute remains sound as one Minnesota and Neil Bredevans. Now
that's what you want. You have to pick up the second balls you hear the energy from the crowd, and that's what I remember as a Sounders we went not one nothing. As soon as you start winning those second balls, in those knife and balls, that's what the defense cannot get set once again, and he saw it there Rothrock with a great run, perfectly timed. Heer perfectly slip ball and that's a hard driven ball. That's exactly where that ball should go. Jordan unlucky not to get on the end of that one.
I'd still like to see two or three runners in the box right, not just Jordan coming near post. Get someone on top of the box. But it's that constant pressure that has to be there. When Schmiza talks about one of those things, there's metrics. He's looking for fifty five percent possession x number of shots. Think with seven shots on target in any given game,
and then four guys in the box. When you're getting the ball down the outsides, they come the sound as left hand side new towards a half way line rolled into Jordan Morris, Little tugged by Morris on lud stepped in won the ball. Winter's free kick. Well. This copywrited audio casts of Major League Soccer may not be retransmitted, reproduced, or rebroadcast without the express written consent. Major League Soccer Boxel picks it up. So let me ask
you a question. I think Rothrock is almost answering my own question because he's done very well. Are you surprised that with Cody Baker on the bench he wasn't like for like switch and not trying to change too much up with Christian dropping back. Yeah, that's a great question, And I don't know what goes through the coaches heads in that situation. Maybe it's a matchup from Minnesota that they liked keeping. What's interesting is now Leo Chi has gone to the
right hand side. Rothrock has spent a good ten minutes on his left hand side. But yeah, you think Cody Baker just plugs in it right back and off you go. But clearly something that the coaches have seen, maybe before performance is in training. Credit to them. I mean, Rothrock has put in a great shift so far, and you need that jolt of energy
and he's shown it. Right. We've seen a little bit of Rothrock throughout the season, but these are these are the most minutes that he's gotten about in all year by far, and for him, it's about can I stake a claim here, challenge for every ball, get him behind. Cody Baker will get his opportunity, as as knew, who comes away from international duty
probably tired legs sitting on an airplane halfway across the world. To the comments this week from Stephan Fry and his performance last week where fingers are pointed of course, and those two goals, we know the quality that Fry has definitely preventable. I just hope he can get the clean sheet on this fiftieth anniversary
celebration night and Thomas has his clean sheet in the season. Stephan Fry sits on three additional of course, the number of those, of course have been at home where the Sounders have defended well, have got a number of clean sheets. It's been scoring which has been the challenge at home and certainly getting results one one in five at home. Six out the last eight games are
being drawn here at Lumen ten of the last fifteen. So if the Sounders are gonna push themselves up the table, making Lumanfield a fortress again is exactly what Brian Schmitz will be demanding of his players. And good start by the men in Green tonight. What is I love playing in the midfield with this Sounders group. Especially at home, teams will play a high line and it's not about the three guys up top. Of course, everyone knows that Jordan
Rothrock and Lao two are gonna be sitting on that front line. Now, if I was at number ten dropping back in, that gives Obed the freedom to make that late run in behind. That was the one that I love the most, and stretching defenses, and it's always a surprise. It catches every team off balance. So I do it away from home that much, No, But at home, I'm gonna take that chance. I know that the other team is probably sitting with four or five six sitting back. That's
my opportunity. I'm on a dead sprint in behind. Like you said, you don't even have to look, just drop the ball in so you know the keeper can't come get it and I'm gonna make that hard run in behind. I think if Obed refines that just a little bit, he's gonna hit that next level quicker than we think. We had to remind ourselves he's only nineteen. I'm still playing Sicily, He's still a first on the sheet for Schmidtz still a teenager. Yeah, like you said, I think he's earned
his ultramatic spot in the eleven. He's moving around a couple of positions. If we've talked about he's got that range on his passing, it comes Jackson Read another player that can hit that bigler ball good with the ball at his feet. I've been the start or the first half of the campaign, he would have liked the AMR been a little bit inconsistent at times. But the new page has turned. Second half of the season starts tonight. Here's Leo
choose. He gonna get a new opportunity here in the starting eleven s. Met's deciding to put Jordan Morris up front, Chew on the outside, get some peace on this team. GMO shifts it from inside right to the far side the right to Christian rolled on just coming inside and seen him tuck in quite a lot from that right back spot, just getting more involved and connected
to the midfield. Right. Well, look, I mean, if you're gonna pinch Christian in, then you play really a three to five to two and it's almost a box in the midfield with Christian g he Albert and open. Someone has to find the extra pass right. If they're gonna play with those three Minnesota in the midfield, there's always an open man, and it's who's gonna be tactically aware to find that one running good defensive by Jong, jammed in the bat by Oriaga, there's a referee not giving a foul for
that, no foul given. Orioga steps forward, founds giving refereeing afore. You can hear those booze and there's been referee decisions at home have not favored the Sounders. The ball goes inside long warning. Wouldn't that be a typical sounder's luck should have been a foul Minnesota on the offense here fast side the
left with Lud's gonna whip it in oh Stefan fry for a minute. Hearts in mouth went up will look like a very routine catch, bobbled it to the ground and Abbadeo Smith, the substitute, wasn't quite alert enough to pick it up and the Sounders move forward. On this left hand side, it's a bit of a weird put weird service where I think it may have taken a deflection, had a lot of top spin on his watch. The replay here all kind of gets dropped in stuff, thinks it's going far, it
comes to get it. Luckily it comes out with the ball. But I think Minnesota will have to change something. They can't just allow the Sounders to keep the ball for the better part of this game. If you're gonna play five in the back, I means you're basically missing one. When you start to attack and go forward, it's a lot of running for the guys on the outside. The Sounders will be happy to maintain possession and wait for the
right opportunity. There's a shift from center to far side the right. Chrishan wold On picks it up, comes inside, finds the foot of obad Avogas. Good readjustment of Vargas's feet. The ball was slight behind him. The ball from JP over the far side the right to Leo. Chu continues to play on that right hand side inside towards his left, cheap giveaway. Shrugged off the ball. Long warning on Christian rolled on, Hey come Minnesota in
transition. Now the Sounders get back in support Chrish and rold one against sure players played against many years and Dotson, we'll just well done. From Christian rolled on. There you lose the ball high up the field. Yeah, it might be a bad pass. At the end of the day, you're responsible for taking a touch or hitting it first time. But he makes a sixty yard sprint back to make sure that the Sounders are covered because it was
a three on three for Minnesota there. I'm not sure why Dotson just didn't pick up that ball and sprint forward, but he slows down, allows Christian to get in good defensive position, and I think the referee may have given that one, so he didn't get the one on Rothrock just a little bit
earlier. Now asking Rothrock to find the ball, Rothwrop went inside new who now comes back to JP flick down the line there, so space for Rothrocks lets it run instead of maybe collecting the ball and allows Boxwots come all the way across. Ball out of play. It's going to be a thrown for the Sounders five or so yards from the corner flag on the northwest corner of
this great stadium. As we said, the energy in the stadium for the fiftieth annivers he celebrate the TIFA was incredible, colors all across the state the stadium and the Sounders now have managed to find that energy again after that long pause in play to take care of Paddleford and boldin as Oriaga takes it off Jordan Morris, I need a foul. Jordan good job knocks it out. It's gonna be a Sounder's throw. It looked like it was a potential Minnesota
to throw off the toe of Jordan Morris. Referees blind to it didn't see it. Such a referee standing on the halfway line too far to see. The Sounders are going to have it in the their hands, throwing Roth rocket to JP Aftercrigel's player of long one towards the endline gets shrugged off. It's gonna be a goal kick here. Love to see far rosnack a bit more on the ball, same with Jordan Morris. Only nine touches on Jordan Morris's first half so far, lowest by far on the Sounders team, but got the all important touch. It's the goal. Didle a run by because you're all done. It's able to be found inside the box. Rolls of the inside of his funnel
on the sex. It isn't be el to finished by the Sounders, but Rosnak picks it up, just cuts it inside to Christian rolled on right back, playing on this near side the left gets it now left channel. Lots of rotation from the Sounders in this first half. JP to Rosneck makes a run down the lines, not found a combination of the Sounders players. Good quick, incisive play, but needs to go somewhere as well. They continue to pick the ball up. Eleven men behind the ball from Minnesota as they
hold five yards outside their box. Ball founce the foot of Rothrock little dip of the shoulder to his right foot, clips it towards the back stick, finds Vargas cuts in towards his left and again towards right strike side netting. Goalkick remains one mil but good play by the Sounders eventually found that pocket of space on the right hand side was Oberd Vargas. It's only evil to hit
the side netting remains one nail previdence. I'm sorry you just had to talk for seven minutes straight with the Sounders having the ball, but they're playing the one two tie interchange. And that's what we've seen of Sounders of yester years, that real quick, decisive movements. It's all about not sitting on the ball. At the end of the day. If you move the ball one two touch defensively, the other team has to get set. The Sounders winning
every second ball. And what unlocked that first play was a long switching ball from JP Christian with a determined run to come across and Paul Rothrock just a little bit unlucky on the back post there and the Sounders feeling themselves right now they should feel confident. That's the ball. Ball over the top to Jordan Morris, brings it down his chest, strikes it save by Irwin, picks up the rebound by a hand side of the Bucks cheer and support. Good
save by Clint Irwin. Jordan Morris having a chance again, but Sounders retained possession. Top of the Bucks fall into the foot of Rothrock giving away. Minnesota are gonna come again as JP comes along and challenges along Jarney little combination Lobarney strides over the halfway line, flicks it towards Smith looked like he was offside. One goes over from the touchline, throwing for the Sounders, but a good chance for Jordan Morris. Brain and that's the ball. It's again
quick play. JP finds Christian Rodan with their head and insult. Doesn't even look he knows that is buddy. Jordan Morris is going to be in behind. It's a great switching ball and I think the ball just clips up and Jordan can get that ball on the pitch. Decides to take a full volley boxel just enough to cover the clean Eerlan with the good save at the far post. Maybe in the back clearers lines two. It's a found they're just a little passery in Minnesota right back. So what I like so far this out for the Sounders is the commitment right the arrogance taken out of the stadium. You have to create your own atmosphere at
that point. So the Sounders do that. The key possession, maintain possession. Minnesota with really nothing in this game. We haven't really talked about Minnesota all that month. Yes, they're missing a couple of key players, but at the end of the day, you finish your chances, you bring some life back into the stadium. You celebrate like you're around the campfire having a couple of beers, and all of a sudden you get a little bit of
life. And it's that one two touch commitment. Get forward, play the ball in behind. That's what the fans want to see. Not much from Minnesota today. You can see they come in here with five in the back. I don't think they're gonna catch the Sounders on the break. The Sounders, yes, seven red cards have lent to their performances so far this season, but I think two style of a defense for a
team to come in here with five in the back. I want to see Albert share the wealth a little bit, get Lao Chu involved, and really, if you're a number ten, you gotta be thinking in the back of your head, how do I get these players involved and not leave them on a nine. We'll take a short break, Jackson felt. Diego Arioha will be back with you to break it all down halftime here at EQC Pitch at Lumenfield on the fiftieth anniversary celebration night. It sounds one Minnesota United nil.

Now time for the Sounders EFC halftime show forty five minutes in the books here at Luminfield, the fiftieth anniversary match for your Seattle Sounders, and they're looking good. After forty five minutes, it's a one nothing lead for Seattle over visiting Minnesota United. The goal scored in the twenty eighth minute a Jordan Morris header off of a free kick from Albert Rusnak, and that has Seattle up one nothing. There was many chances there late in the first half.
Really thought we were gonna be talking about a two to nothing leader here on the halftime show, but it is still one. At Jackson Feltz diego audio here for the halftime show and Diego. Let's start with that goal. Jordan Morris four goals in five games. I think it's clear to say the dude is on fire right now. Yeah, it's good to see Jordan Morris scoring
in the first half, in particular getting that up Virginia. We're talking at the pregame show that he's gonna he was gonna be the nine in this match to start, and then he gets that good Heather. Especially if if we think about how many from how many corners the Sounders have scored the season,
and it's this is pretty unique to see Jordan Morris going that way. And also at the time, if we think about what happened in those twenty seven minutes before the prior to the game, the Sounders haven't really created a lot
of chances. If we think about it after that, you know, collision with Alec Rodin rolled down and power forward, the game kind of like staggered for I would say twenty minutes right, let's talk about that, because you know, if you were just a few minutes later the broadcast, you miss probably what might right now be the headline of this match, the opening kick of the game taken by Minnesota sending it forward and Alex rolled at his right
back spot. Uh Devinator of Minnesota's left back who was left wing back, who was getting way up the field. On that left side, there was a collision between Al Troldon and Paddleford. Both players stayed down for more than three minutes. Both players were forced to leave the match there on that first really second collision there on the far southeast side of the stadium. What we saw a few minutes later was Paul Rothrock into the field for the Sounders.
Meanwhile, from Minnesota, they bring on a forward and then the song Banjong has to go come back, so he moves from his forward spot. So a very interesting change there. We actually would talk about it for both sides. Minnesota, we know that they played three at the back. They had
some interesting movement around, but they made it work. But for Seattle Diego the change is perplexing a little bit, at least for me in that it's Paul Rothrock coming on that forces Christian Roldan to have to go play right back. If Christian Roldan spent a week of training at right wing, which is where he was, why not bring on a Cody Baker or a like for like at right back and now not you have to change multiple positions because with
Paul Rothrock he's now playing on the wing. You have to get Christian back. It just changes I think, one more thing than they had to. Yeah, it's still questionable. And also my thinking is why doing that, especially you get an injury minute one and then changing position for position. Right to your point, why not Cuddie Baker who's played in that position several times. You forced Christian Roldan to go back. He played in that position too,
but it's not his natural position. So I think now the answer, Yeah, the Saunders are winning, but if he bustn't the case, we'll be questioning way more. I think definitely something that would be good to ask. For instance, you know the rationale behind that Paul Rothrock hasn't been that has has been I would say, okay, right in terms of when he entered and you know, committing to give me some This isn't an indictment on Paul Rothman, I don't know, but it's just a question. It's a
question. And yeah, to meet their rasia andale behind it, like why doing that when you already have a play on the bench. He's already a right line right or if you want to get Christian rolled on it right back, then bring Josh Atensio in and get Obed Vargas up the field on the right side. Interesting choice by Brian Spencer. He'll no doubt talk about it in his postgame press conference, but we have a second half to talk about.

This team leading one nothing right now they got to go on Jordan Morris's head. How do we not only win this game, but I think more
importantly make this too nothing. Yeah, I think at this point of especially with forty five minutes left, we need to secure out these a second goal I would love to see coming from the bench Rolridias at some point, right he needs to get that those minutes in and especially create some chances. I know the Sounders were really close what you were mentioning the last seven to eight minutes of the game. They were a couple of chances that were clear for
a goal opportunity. But I think the second half they still need to keep that possession. Also, they need to be really careful when they're you know, going out with the ball because they're losing some position on the build up, so they need to be comform with that absolutely right. So hopefully we see both those things and see Sounders win. Three points would be massive today for the team. Danny Jackson, Brad Evans, Michelle Ludka. They have

Welcome back Sounders fans to EQC pitch at Lumen Field, where the Sounders lead one gold to nil against Minnesota United off the back of a Jordan Morris header. Free
kick came in from a Albert rossnak. Jordan Morris got up from six yards out, found the bottom corner, put the Sounders up and they retained that lead through halftime. And Brad, when we think about the Sounders and a nightlight this the fiftieth anniversary celebration, that's the type of start you want to again, that's type of halftime you want where Brian Schwetz come in, give a few specific instructions, let the players just kind of feed off each other.
Yeah. Well, the start you want in the game is not to have two guys leave the field from concussion. And I think that there was such this hoorah before the game, and honestly, when it happened, I thought that the energy was sucked out and it was a oh no, here we go again. But credit to the Sounders for continuing to put in that work, try to get in behind this defense and put Minnesota under some pressure. Fortunate enough, Paul Rothrock comes on the field and he's the one who
draws the foul in the far corner by pure effort. Ball gets swung in and all of a sudden, the Sounders find themselves up one nothing and then they start to play. It's that one touch soccer that you love to see and now the Sounders will attack their favorite end and it's all about winning this second half. Sounds in their anniversary kit, green shirts with pinstripes, blue shorts, white socks. They're attacking the goal to our right. As Brad
mentioned the south end, there's a straight away. Sound is down the right side across and just hit. What a star that would have been Rough Crock on the back post, wide open goal couldn't stretch far enough inches away to putting the Sounders up two goals to Neil Bret Evans. Oh my god, I want to put it from the Sounders to start this one off. Good interchange and it to up back and through How many times have we taught this?
And then Jordan Moore doesn't even look up, he knows where he is on the field and absolutely drills that ball across and Clint Irwick gets a good push and still can't get there and open net and Rothrock just inches from putting the ball on the back of the net and it comes off the toe. I don't know if he locks his ankle fully there, he'll want to have that one back. But the Sounders off to a flying start in this second half. That's what you want to see that gets the crowd into the game.
Okay, the lineups momentarily is clock down. This Niss at the left, Minnesota all in black attack in the north end, the goal to left. JP gets shoved in the back and the Sounders get set for free kicking their defensive half of the field for the first time in this second half. We'll throw it down to Michelle. Thanks Sanny. I kind of with coach coming back out after the half and I asked him, you know, what
changes should we expect to see in the second half? And all season long he's kind of been pointing out these different goals of each match, each half, different tactical things, and today the big thing he said is that they were changing their wording going into the second half, that instead of when we don't concede, we will get three points and going into a defensive mind, he said, this time they're talking more about when we score goal two in
goal three, so kind of a more positive side and tune of things, and he's hoping that that makes a difference in the team's outlook and play in the second half. Yeah, thanks Michelle. Halftime, Brett and I were talking about the lack of goals at home, five of those in one game, of course against Montreal, and Sounders have often found it a struggle to get that second third goal when going up a goal. Credit to Schmidtz turned
into a little bit of a Yoda using words as mind tricks. Maybe that's what that celebration was talking about it midweek and the guys were talking about changing their words and the celebration trying to figure that one out. Fans with Minnesota have it fastside the right and as they start to build pressure from we're gonna write down to Michelle. Yes, I have answers on that celebration that we want to talk about here, so brat hopefully hopefully you like what you hear
here. I asked head coach Brian Schmittzer kind of about that celebration and how if it was a result of the players kind of being challenged I would say by the media of late about the camaraderie on the team. Danny, Yeah, here's roth thought down the left hand. Sorry, thanks, Michelle, tries to drive towards the end line, just goes over the far in line. Goal kick from Minnesota. We'll throw it back to you, Michelle.
Yes, I asked if it was, you know, a way to show their camaraderie and their team spirit, and Brian Schmetszer says, no, the group has been a tight knit group all along. He didn't think that was the result whatsoever. But he said they did point out in film from Kansas City after Jordan's goal there, he did not look excited that he had scored and three players did not celebrate with them following that. So now we see the whole team celebrate the goal today and we'll have to wait for sure when
the locker room opens postgame to find out exactly what happened. But it's being speculated that it was the team playing cards, which is apparently a team bonding activity that they do on away game flights. Thanks Michelle as Clark drives it into the hands of Stephen Fry. It some sustained possession and pressure from Minnesota. They trying to find themselves back in the game here. Well, that's good to know the players still having some fun and sort of find a way
to put smiles in each other's faces. It's been somewhat of a struggle. You get two steps forward and it feels like all of a sudden, it's one step back. They had a good May. It was ten games in thirty two days. It seems to go on a really good run. It was one loss I think in nine, but of course, like always against a really good sporting Kansas City team on paper, they haven't played well.
It's always a banana skin, isn't it when you go into a place like that and they have at won in ten and all of a sudden the Sounders go in there and find a team that does play well and they get that loss. Jordan Morris is far side the left, tries to find Rothrock picked up by Long. Jarney comes all the way back to some really good defensive work dos Long Morning three goals to assist on his year. Signed for Martinsburg United in January twenty two, South Africa born to dug In the substitute.
We'll get those lineups coming out for this second half, as Smith the substitute for Paddleford in the first minute of the game. After that concussion substitution, so the sound has come out in a four to two three one Stephan Fryan goal. Christian Roaldon dropped back to the right back in place for his brother Alex b Jemar Reagan knew who obed alongside JP in the middle of the park and then it's gonna be Leo Cheh on the left, Albert Rosnack in the
ten, Paul Rothrock and then Jordan Morris playing up front. Minnesota. They had made a half time substitution as well, Clinton Erwin and Gola back three of Oriaga to Piers and then Duggan in for Boxel Cayden Clark, Jeong on the outsides, Fragaparne Dots and lud in the middle, and then Long Jarney and Ada Bit BeO Smith up front. Gave you the fifty first minute, nine fifty am. Wherever you're listening to us, we appreciate it. Sounders
look into make a mark in the second half of the season. Big anniversary celebration for the Sounders. Over one hundred alumni here on the field, celebrating all that the Sounders is, was and will be. All goes in top of the box of Long Jarney, Rosnak picks it up, comes back to help outs midfield. Bundled over as ober Vargas by Long Jarney tries to take it quickly. Longjarnie stands in front. Referee separates free kick the Sounders.
That's how Minnesota is gonna get back into this game. They have to keep two strikers up top and high, and then the three in the midfield have to push forward as soon as they release. And you saw it there, and you see what Blood has done. This is play that ball. It's a slipped in ball that our center backs typically do have some trouble with.
He's unfortunate there. The gaymart does recover well and slip in. But when Minnesota does send all those numbers forward, now you know you're at least four for five. As the Sounders come into the attack far Sorry the left is roth Rock being active since he'd got introduced in the first MINUTESOD of the game five minutes and added time for that injury. The first play Darikler ball from
the kickoff, clash of heads. Both players went out jump Palla tries to switch the point of attack fins the right back Christian roll Don slashing in behind a little heavy on the pass over the end line. Goal kick remains one nil man, that's okay. From the Sounders, I like, you got two center backs sitting back. You got your triangle with JP sitting in front of you. Now, go ahead, push new who high, Push Christian
high. And maybe that's why you put Christian back. You knew that they were gonna come out with five in the back, and you actually Christians found himself up higher in the field. Probably is high as if he was playing as a right mid in the game. Now Paul Rothrock with three or four files now has to be careful not getting into those silly challenges. You have
no no yellow card yet for rough Ruby's been involved. As Brad said, a couple of instance in the first half, Fells deep in the Sounders attacking third of the field. Not bad place to give away a foil. But they can add up. Last thing the Sounders want is to add on to the MLS leading red card. Telly hurt them in the past. It's going to be a corner kick for Minnesota. It's a question of what IF's on the red cards. What if the Sounders on the add one red card this
season? Where would they be sitting at the standings? How much did it really affect the flow of the game, the lineup, everything that goes into it. Sounders now have seven reds, which is what most teams might have it in the whole entire season. Two arms up in the air, whipped in right foot and swinger just so over the top by Longbarney. A header by not one of the biggest players on the field right in the middle of the goal, top of the six. Some of a free headed over the
top goal kick does remain one nail. But Bret Evans, that's a warning shot. Well, listen, that's what I always have an issue with. Zonal mark And you find Jamar sitting on the six, Jackson Reagan sitting on the six, and now it becomes Shalpaulo's responsibility to mark a guy that's, you know, six or seven inches taller than he is. You're asking a lot. And as a center back, when you're sitting on the six, you're so focused on the ball you don't know if someone's coming from behind you.
You don't have time to look back. Every single time it's a free header from Minnesota. Fortunately for the Sounders not on frame. Luod quickly into long warning to Fraggepawne inside left picked up by long warning thirty yards from goal, rolls it into Lud shifting back to his kne side. The left of clock comes in on his preferred right foot overlapping run by Fragatpan, he goes
square. That's a dots that flicked him by lud up in the air by yea man hooked clear by Vargas. Well, you talk about those red cards brand I mean, let's not forget Vancouver. Here are two red cards losing two nil. Eventually Colorado ATTENTI gets to two quick Yellows get to red and then the eighty seventh minute Colorado get their equalizer. So it's definitely hurt the sound. There's no question about it changes games, no matter how you want to look at DC United, right, was it a should have been?
A red card with the PK that got them back into the game? Can change the course of the season, and it is. When you're on the other side of it, you're happy you get to play against ten men, and obviously when you when you're digging it out and playing almost an extra game for everyone, seven red cards, that's maybe a total playing an entire game man down at least. Well, they're tough on the body as well.
And then it's the selection available to the coach in the next weekend. Right, you've got your main guys off the field, and then all of a sudden changes things up attent to being one of them, of course, was playing well in the center of the park gets us red. Yes, we've talked about it. Do the Sounders have that bench where they can afford to just plug and play a guy? No, obviously not, because the night you lose Alex and you have to plug in Christian as a right back instead
of Cody Baker. Clark top of the box, just finds, looks for that far post, goes wide. Goal kick remains warn nil here in the fifty sixth minute, but again Minnesota just prodding looking for that opening. This time it was Clark coming off that left hand side. His right foot killed it wide. But again Minnesota United showing us why they're in the position they're in, three losses on the year, third in the Western Conference, and
showing the ability to fight back and grind out results. And that's what they wanted. They wanted that switching ball, and it comes within two passes. It's a giveaway from the Sounders, and all of a sudden, here comes a two v one on the left hand side, cuts inside and that's not far from the far post and probably from being goal of the week. Well,
the missing of course they're two main strikers. Timopouki got injured whilst away with the finished national team, and then ALUs a top goal scrore with seven goals. He's with the Canadian national team for Copa America. So as we mentioned, nine players from the Minnesota squad away on in each national duty. As of last week, seven players still missing. Flick around the corner by Chew towards Vogas, good little pull into Chew into the six yard bucks and
across a last poul Rough rock Fittal second goal for the Sounders. Leo Chu with the assist. The Sounders go up two goals to nil. Well done from the Sounders here, confident, cool, collected build up and we saw it late in the first half. It was the one touch interplay that gets the Sounders out of trouble. And as soon as I thought Obed was gonna go back with the ball, it's a slipped in ball. Leo two does well to find him in the gap, and it's all about quick, decisive
passing. In games pass years past, I think Leo Chu feels a little bit of pressure and falls down and he's never given a penalty in those situations. He stays on his feet, gets into the box and finally Paul Rothrock with a world time run at the back post. Lao Chew slips it through the legs of the the center back and it's a slipped in finish one that we thought he was gonna dream about the one earlier tonight, but now he gets to sleep well after finishing that one with the left foot, same exact
ball, same exact play, absolutely onside. Lao Chow celebrates as if he just scored a goal. A credit to Paul Rothrock, comes on the field, not expected to play it, gets himself a goal and that'll give him confidence to close out this game. If you don't slick Seed, try try, try again, and he did first minute for the second half, inches wide from the back post. As JP just gives you a couple of instructions, Calm down, it's two nail dans. Keep eleven on the field.
There's stilly yellow cards, so if you're doing now is wondering over but checking for off sides, but there's no chance that all comes through the defender's legs. That's a goal all day longer. The referee gives it. Sounders lead to nail here fifty ninth minute, the score up. He is presented by Toyota, just the response that Bryan Schmizer would have wanted from his team coming
out in the second half. As ball goes in behind by Smith, almost caught at the heels boy game r. As the ball goes over the inline by Clark, gold cake for the Sounders. That's gonna be a yellow card. A few words, choice words towards the referee. It's an SGB yellow card, but a fell is called SGB trial. Lawyers are here to help visit SGB dash law dot Com. What I like about that goal we talked
about earlier was a lack of runners inside the box. You knew when Laol two got to the end line there is a there is a possibility that somehow the ball's gonna get slipped across the box. So what do you have to do. You have to take the chance. You got Jordan's sitting there, and then you have Rothrock closing in at that far post with another runner on top of the That's what Smetz wants, right, he wants a couple guys in the box. You just make a play on the ball, right,
If you do the work, you're gonna get rewarded. You have to take that chance. In games past, we haven't seen that. I haven't seen that from the side. Well, today's fiftieth anniversary celebration match is brought to you by Western Washington Toyota Dealers, Toyota. Let's go places, Let's go find that third goal. Sixtieth minute here EQC Pitch Blumenfield, nine Am Sounders
on this special special night. Over one hundred alumni in the crowd. Tonight they were on the field, many more family members alongside former players watching the team now as they got a chance to mingle with the old Sounders yesterday at practice, got a chance to better understand the history of the great club. Sounders now of present doing their job admirably as they lead two goals to nails.
The boy get shifted to the far side, headed out and over the end far touch line because Brian Schmidtz who is gonna make his second change of the night. We'll see what change that is, and that's Leo Chew comes out. Well, Josh Atensio is gonna come in on the field. You Choo is gonna be disappointed, But you think it's just the exuberance. Maybe he just feels like he needs some bit of a steady eddie player in there. What do you think. I don't know. This team's up to nothing
right now. I'm not sure about that's up. Leo Chu obviously does so well on this side. Five minutes ago, he's celebrating like he won the World Cup, and then Schmetz takes him off the field. It's only the sixtieth minute. He's just getting into the groove of the game. Let the kid play. You want him to have confidence, you want him to get in get into the game well, especially if Minnesota now have to press and push right and now maybe he's assuming that Minnesota is gonna throw numbers forward.
Now you put obed out on the right hand side. I'm not sure about that. If I'm Leo Chu, I'm not happy leaving the field at the sixtieth minute. Maybe the seventy to seventieth. Maybe give me ten more minutes to get something out of this game. Sounders are feeling it playing well. Chew does so well in that situation. Well, he hasn't had many games in recent weeks and due to injury and some niggling things he had to deal with. But we talked about some of the players, experienced players coming off
what felt like the wrong times in games. About JP. Of course, here when Vancouver were in town for that second game, they tied up at the last minute. JP came off in the ninety second minute when the Sounders were leading. As you mentioned, Leo Chu was put on the field for that speed. And now you'd think there's some space opening up. Yeah, Well, I think if I'm a coach in this, and I know that
Minnesota has to go for it now. There there's no reason not to yet at least have to get one in the next ten to fifteen minutes or Minnesota. So if I'm Schmantz, I got a speedy player on the right hand side that just had this. It did so well on that play him. Let him pin them back a little bit more, let him run at them, give them ten minutes. Minnesota building on the far side the right, they go back to Irwin decked out in purple. Tonight, Minnesota tapped the
gold to our left, headed by Jackson Reagan into the stands. Safety first, Minnesota pick it up far side hands of Ariaga. Minnesota will need to push and press now as they try to find that equal well get themselves back in the game, say, losing two goals an ill here at Lumenfield, and again we've mentioned it's not been a good place for Minnesota to come. Eight wins for the Sounders, no losses, one of those of course being
in the playoffs where the Sounds were down two goals to nil. I read a report this week that said, members of the MLS, we try to figure out where to put stand for Minnesota to celebrate that Western Conference championship. Then the Sounders scored three and downs of goals won the game in the ninety third minute. It's always been dramatic games. I remember one in Minnesota, last second will Brewin winner as well. Was that the onlays the famous celebration.
Always dramatic against and I think it goes back, you know, to yesteryear. You have those rivalries from way back in the day. I played against him an our year and how are those games feisty, tasty? And they were always very very good. Sounders have it with Rothrock goalscorer of the second goal, putting a really good shift after coming on very very early in this game for Alex Roldan had to go off due to concussion. Sounders defending
ball goes down the line Jackson Reagan takes no chance. He just hooks it with his left foot out. It's gonna be a throwing just a couple of yards from the corner flag on the far side. Sorry, I was gonna step forward. Big men are gonna come up. Duggan substitute just stands in front of newho Sorrioga takes a couple of steps Back's a game of cat and mouse here. Who fronts sus in the back. I want a big guy in front of their big guy. We'll go short and then hooked in long
inside the six yard box. Seven fry up. He goes easily collected long throat one B one for Jordan Morris. It's to Pias strides forward down this right hand side. Christoph Aldan in support overlapping run Well goes in behind your rossnack. Good saved by Owen corner kick Sounders remains too nail, but good break from the sounds. My My next comment was gonna be I haven't seen Rusnak in the entire second half, and if I'm up to nothing, I
gotta be licking my chops. As a number ten to control the tempo, get on the ball as much as possible. So here he is making that late run that we talked about in the first half. That's gonna unlock this defense. Jordan with another cheeky little slip ball through and that's a good first time whipball down at the ground. Rusnak will want that one back. I think if he hits it to the ground, they might find the back of the net. Bulwick's him by. Rusnak comes off the hand called for the
Sounders. Nothing given by the referee. See if he gets any type of information in his ear piece. Sounder's gonna continue to play. Stephen Fry has it twenty five thirty yards from his goal, rolls it out to his near side to Christian rolled On, looks off the hand. Frecker Ponte just swings wildly, misses the ball, misses the player sounds retained possession. Keep playing
on the front foot will be the message here. Ball down the right hand side to Obed Vargas, challenged by substitute Dugger, just skips inside around the corner. He goes cleared eventually by Tapias. Christian rold On again just playing so well. Given away by Atensial unnecessarily. It comes Smith as substitute towards Jackson. Reagan goes down just about wins it. Hearts in mouth moment for the Sounders as DeMar gives Jackson Reagan the roundom applause. Good sustained pressure from
the Sounders. Now you see JP, Let's keep the ball, wait for the right opportunity. To my point earlier, your number ten has to be the most involved player at this point. And I've been in games in the past where we're playing at Salt Lake and they're up to nothing. The only player that has the ball is Morales. Here comes new left hand side whipsl on the six with clearance by the back line of Minnesota finds the foot of Lud rolls in in. Christian Voldan sees the danger on Fragaparne just nips at
his heels, goes down. Good fail to give. It's gonna be a double substitution for Minnesota. Just see who that is. It's gonna be Ariaga the ory hensin defender. It's like Lud. It's gonna come off shift by those two men. Maybe it's preparation for the next game. They have a game coming up in midweek. That's gonna be Victor Ericson and Moses Nyman come on the field. We'll see if there'll be a change up in formation. Looks like it'll be a lifelike switch Ericson for Ariaga. Then Nyman's gonna slide
into the central of the park alongside Dotson. Maybe they'll put another player up. Fuck necessarily necessary foul thirty yards from gold dead center. He already took a touch, roll his foot over the ball, but referee pulls it back. It's gonna be a free kick for Minnesota. Potensio'll just caught on the wrong side there. And if you bring on, if Josh is coming on
the field, the one thing is defensive. Just get behind the ball, keep everything in front of you, and keep everything organized as it should be. And now you give Minnesota an opportunity. The last thing you want, Like you said, two nothing, the most dangerous lead in soccer. Once you get one, sometimes the wheels fall off just a little bit. Sounds got to be stout defensively here, Jean's gonna have it. It's gonna clip it towards the far post up goes. Ericson heads the ball with his floppy
blonde hair goes over the top. Goalkick for the Sounders here in the sixty ninth minute Sounders two Minnesota nil. On this fiftieth anniversary celebration night, Sounders players a present. Players are doing their job well. Start to see the stands look down filled. Celebrate the Sounders. Busy night again here in Seattle, Mariners playing a little bit earlier. Traffic was a bit of a bear coming in, but shows the ongoing support and love for sports in this great
city. Is Sounders habits center of the park. Colbd Vargas just pokes it through to Knew, who's been solid on his return to the starting line of after scoring his first international goal for Cameroon, and there World Cup qualify it this week, of course, big tournaments all around the world, Copra America
here in the US, and the Euro's getting kickstarted this weekend. The fascinating games already happened Germany with the dominant performances New destroys forward just runs the back of it, picks it up, goes inside towards the end line, tumbles to the ground. The crowd asks for something. Roth ruck does towards over the end line. Nothing given by the ref. Goal kick remains too nil,
nothing there for the referee. But like you said, I think the biggest question is Sounders haven't been in this position too many times this year to nothing winning at home. So is there a little bit in there, a little bit of tentativeness to the Sounds goal for it? Or do are they content to just sit and play possession for the last twenty minutes of this game? I think the answer is you gotta go for it, you gotta build something. Yes, you need a result. But the substitution from Brian is
maybe be a little bit more conservative. But hey, come, is JP picks the ball up, just gets tumbled over a good place for a foul runs off some seconds twenty five yards or so from the goal left of center, Sounders are gonna have a chance to test Clint Owen. My point is is that Sounders haven't been in this position, So who's on the field.
Is it coming from the coaching staff saying, hey, press, press, press, let's get this, let's close it out, put the nail in the coffin, or are they caught between two minds in this second half of Okay, you're gonna keep it, but I'm gonna go I'm gonna keep it, but you're gonna go. There's a little bit of one if right Now, what's a dangerous game to play with twenty plus minutes. Yeah, it's dangerous, But at the end of the day, you have to give yourself
something moving forward. I don't think closing out this game, playing complete possession and not pushing forward and taking chance of your opportunities is gonna give any oph for this team moving forward. I think they need a statement win, and they got the opportunity against a team in Minnesota that's obviously taking off their starters, thrown in the towel, a bit missing players, and the Sounders have for the most part their strongest lineup, certainly attacking half the field, and
we've still got a rail Rudi as we can bring off the bench. It comes Rossnick strikes it into the wall, not quite as good as his free kick just a week or so ago. Paul gets rolled in to Jackson Reagan. Pressure by Minnesotas they come flying out in numbers, but the Sounders are able to retain possession far side the left with Rosnick just not sit back to
JP. Possession between the experienced central midfield players. JP tries to clip it down the line, deflex long, Ronnie again back to help his midfield or goes into Smith can't control it, bubbles up and down. Here comes a Tenser striding forward, balling behind to Jordan Morris. Clint Owen read the danger
well comes out collects it. A good incisive play by the Sounders. Now it's a good movement because JP finds himself wide and the utensil drops all the way back to make sure that he's sitting in front of the Sounder center backs and he ends up with the ball and good But just because a hard work and good position. Initially he's rewarded with space in front of him to push forward. Just a couple of inches off. But I think Jordan times out
run a little bit better on an angle. I think you might have an opportunity there. Clinner and comes off of his line. That's always always a tough one though, on top of the box to find a slip ball that's actually gonna come off. God's got to be perfect. Yeah. Referee gives no foulsand long run and he goes to deck. Rothrocks drives forward across the halfway line far side the Sounders left as they attack the goal to our right
the south end. The Sounders FC Soccer is presented by Provident, Swedish official healthcare partner of Sounders FC. Get here in the seventy fourth minute fiftieth anniversary celebration for your Sounders as they lead two goals to nail against Minnesota. Sounders need to see this one now. They need a confidence building in as brad Evans mentioned, getting a few extra gold would certainly do that, and it's a great chance to do it. Minnesota have not had a win here at
lumin Field in their MLS era. Bulgo square to JP tries to find the ball inside to Obert. Vargas shrugged off by Duggan as to Piers comes across towards the end line, rolls it short to Clark. Very strange clearance by Clark finds it roth Rot trying to cushion the header in behind to Morris. Sound has retained possession. It's nearside the right, just in front of the Sounder's bench. There isn't that good little cut ball breaks the line finds Atensior.
He shrugs off Dots and holds him off, runs it to the right hand side to Obert. Vargas good defended by the sub super Minnesota. Dugan back here by Christian rolled out to JP Sounds just trying to find that a little bit of space, Tess Clint Irwin when he eight shots on goals so far in the game, gam four shots on target for the Sounders. They are leading in possession with fifty three percent. But it's about testing the goalkeeper
a little bit more, trying to find that all important third goal. Ball in the hands have rolled on, rolls it back to Yama, who's getting pressed quickly by Smith. As the ball goes back to Stephan fryed Well. This copyrighted audio casts of Major League Soccer may not be retransmitted, reproduced,
or rebroadcast without the express written consent of Major League Soccer. Ball goes into Jackson, Reagan shifts at the far side the left, rothrock As in time and spaces Minnesota retreat three still in the back for them, I'll get you the bench momentarily. As the Sounders build in possession, Josh attends to of course and Rothrocker on the field, so that leaves Jonathan Bell, Danny Mass, Andrew Thomas, Cody Baker, Danny Lava, Dylan Tevez and then leading
goalscorer ral Ruydiez. So, Brad, do you expect to see Rudiez at some point? Yeah? I think I think give Jordan another maybe seven eight minutes and let Raoul will have a good ten ten to fifteen minutes because this one will have a little bit of stoppage time in it. But I'm trying to figure out why like Paul Rothrock so much. I think it just reminds me of myself. Not the best player, but if you're committed to making
runs and committed to putting in the effort, you're gonna get rewarded. And if you're in the right spot and you put yourself there, you'll find yourself with opportunities with great players around you, right, that's their job. You just have to put yourself in a good position. Let's remember his first goal against Houston last year, got bundled enough that back post on the eighteen to ninth minute, right spot, right, I win. And I think maybe
for the case of Paul Rothrock is the coaches have seen it. We just haven't seen it him enough in games, in a real game to give him some minutes. And for a lot of us, it takes a minute to get into the rhythm of an MLS game, right, Yeah, you can call on. It's harder to come on last ten minutes than it is to come on in the first minute, because you know you're gonna get at least till halftime. If you have a shocker, then the then Schmetz is gonna
sub you. But you get into the rhythm and now you've seen him, he's willing to commit to make the runs in behind him. That's what I really like about Paul's game tonight, especially he's done the work defensively and he's been rewarded with a goal. And if Raoul could come on and seal this game, just put some icing on the cake. But you see it here, Paul comes all the way across from his left midfield position, challenge for the ball. That's what you want to see. I think he'll be the
next one to come off as his legs get a bit tired today. Well, it's Minnesota build and that Backloyd. We're gonna throw it down to Michelle. Thank you, Danny. I'm just listening to Brad there talk about Paul Rothrock. First of all, Brad, you're too hard on yourself. You were an amazing player that we all loved watching play. But back to Paul Rothrock, Oh, Danny, gonna start of building out of the bank,
a little bit of pressure from the sim has it almost won it? It comes Jordan on substitute Duggan to Pius, who's gonna clip it down the line, finds the foot of Jackson Reagan see joins forward. We'll get back to your second Michelle. It comes Jordan Morris down the right hand side, got some space, Chess, go the in Line'll whip the ball in. He didn't. He came back. So what Peter Hatshert was talking about in your podcast about just take a chance in that final third and as the sound is
built, we're gonna throw it back down to Michelle. Thank you, Danny, And yes, I wanted to follow up on Paul Rothrock and turn a question of both of you ask former players. As a player, especially a young player, how difficult is it to come in in a situation like Paul Rothrock did today with no warning, thinking maybe I might be a love sleet sub but never within the first minute or two of play. Yeah, it's the hardest thing to come into a game. But at the end of the
day, you've asked for this opportunity. You're not on this team to sit on the bench in place sparse minutes, smartse minutes at the end of a game. And I think it's like I said, it's all about getting the first ten to fifteen minutes under your belt. You've seen that from Paul tonight is can I get into a rhythm? And he kept things really simple throughout the first half, did his job. He had a fantastic cross with his left foot in that first half, and you're rewarded right at the end of
the day. But it is difficult obviously to come into a game because you're not really used to the pace. The pace at the end of the game is harder than it is at the beginning of the game because everyone's trying to get into the game at the same time. There's jp free kick for the sound as twenty yards in the nline whips it in towards the batpost. Easy
for Clint Irwin, but it sound as FC scores. Anytime after the eighteenth minute during a home match, you'll have the chance to win free Lasik surgery from sharp vision modern Lasick and lens sign up today at sounders fc dot com slash laser focus. Sounders have it on this right hand side, just clips down the line off the heat, the shin of Clark going from the sounder's bench picked up by Christian rolled on. Sounders of course, playing in midweek,
Road goes to Houston. Not a fun place to play in the heat of summer. The worst place to play. There's only two places I dreaded looking at the schedule, Kansas City in Houston. It's gonna be a grind. Sounders have it far aside well. Houston had gone off to a tough start this year as well. US Open Cup winners of course last year difficult challenge John Little Good Vargas, but GP picks it up. Sounders have it looking solid and strong in the middle of the park right now, picking up
those second balls, those loose balls, with the presence of Atensio. Ball goes in to the jackal by Atensio just sticks one on. Duggan goes back to Ericson, rolls it back to Clint Irwin hooks it long. Sounders are gonna take that. Skips over Christian road On right into the Minnesota bench for a Sounders throat it's gonna be another substitution for Minnesota. It's gonna be Zeric Valentine, if you remember him from his Portland Timber days, comes off the
field and Sang being Jong signing from Wolves last year. He's gonna come off the field as they prepare for their midweek game away at Dallas. I think you've seen now Minnesota just getting guys on the field that haven't stretched their legs too much this season. Get the guys off that are gonna start midweek, and the Sounders will be happy to see this one out. I don't see Minnesota getting anything out of this game other than some fitness for the young guys.
It just feels, Brad, it's about being mistake free right now. Just don't take any chances if in doubt, you know, just see this one out, as they say, and Sully for our back line, it'd be nice to get that clean sheet. It's been a while for Sounders. The ball goes over the top Jordan Morris, has he got a chance around the goalkeeper? Heavy touch? Could he have gone over the top with one
touch and just clip to Irwin? He did and he goes over the end line for corner kick, but another great chance for Jordan Morris Brett Evans, and that's the ball that we've been looking for all night. Jordan's wanted it. He's made four or five now checking into space and he kind of looks back and wonders why the ball hasn't come to me. And it's actually a
little diagonal run, but a great slipped in ball. Took an unfortunate bounce I think for Jordan, takes it to his left foot, tries to round the keeper and nothing there for Jordan at the end of the day, and he'll rue that opportunity. But just a fantastic run. You see the commitment, You see how disappointed he is from his reaction. But like you said, maybe he takes a quick touch, slips it through the legs or maybe over the top. Jordan unlucky on that one, but you see the sounder
still pressing. You have to with a lineup like this with Minnesota, you gotta press otherwise you let them get confidence. Sound as have it. They took a quick corn of cack because they go that corner kick from Jordan Morris. It was Ruside that who dragged a shot. White sound is a get to build up again from the back again. It's not just Rothrocker's came on in the first minute of the game. It's always also young Jordan at the
Bayo Smith. With all the celebrations and presentations before the game, those substitutes were not warm at all. So both players have put out good shifts tonight for their coaches. As new strides forward twenty five yards from the end line, just cuts it back again. Nothing forward goes back or step over. I'm trying to play the position of playmaker there, just looking for the ball they'll give and go. Daniel begs a question, Paul rothrock just played fivey
two and warm ups and came in here and had a great game. I might as well just play five y two for warm ups from now on. If the guys are gonna step in and have a good game, exactly save your legs. I guess get these you know, I must have met these teams now are much more concise with their warmers than they ever were. Remember the years where you come out for so long, We're just like, come
on, just get on with it. Get on with It's rolled on right hand side, and that's second moment to honor that nineteen seventy four NASL team that was honored tonight the Circle of Legends, the first inaugural person and group to be nominated for the Circle of Legends. Many of those players were back practice yesterday talking to the team. Wonderful foundation on which to build. So congratulations to all those players that were here with us and those that were not.
Remember their contribution to Sounders FC and all our history. Let's see if the boys in Green now with five minutes ago they lead to nil, they can see this one out. Don't leave us at the end of the game. Jackson felt Diego arioha well be back to break it all down. There's lots to break down today. Chances for the Sounders. Jordan Morris playing back up front as the number nine, got his goal. Paul roth Rock the man coming off the bench in the first minute before an injured Alex rolled on.
We all hope that his injury is not too serious. The no concussions can take a while Sounders will take no chances to move on in the second half of the season. But for the Sounders, can they start this eighteenth game of their campaign, their first game in this second half of the season with a win? And for the Sounders are going to be their second win at home, certainly much needed three points. The bottom line is the Sounders
are gonna need these results. This was a must win for the Sounders, like you said, starting the second half of the season, and the Sounders aren't in the position that they should be in that they think they should be in and the fans as well. And it's going to take some magic still
for the sound to be able to get into the playoffs. I think because this Western Conference teams are beating each other constantly, the Sounders will creep up just a bit in the standings, but it'll be a decisive one on on Wednesday night. If they can get a couple of results in a row, that should propel them into hopefully a good month. Right, and then you got the I think after that, you got a couple three home games in
a row. The next five games, including this one, all at home, Houston being the only one away, which will be massive for the group. Right. Say you pick up nine points in that run, which the Sounders have done in the past, and sometimes it's been on a Saturday Wednesday Saturday picked up nine points, there's no reason why they can't do it again. But this one was the pivotal one and hopefully we're talking next week about
the Sounders picking up points and moving up the standings. Well, very winnable games as well. Houston up on Wednesday. Then it's Dallas just find the coach. Chicago not a good year for them and the New England really struggled under Caleb Porter. Sounds getting a little water break, but the Ravegreen r back as we mentioned on the road to take on Houston Dynamo FC on Wednesday,
June nineteenth at five thirty pm Pacific. Watch the match via the MLS Season Pass on the Apple TV app and listen on ninety three point three KGr FM and l RAY thirteen sixty am. The Provident Swedish pre match show starts at five pm. The referee was taking a little look potentially at Nyman who did get the yellow card. It wasn't SGB yellow card when a foul is called SGB Troyal lawyers are here to help visit sgbdashload dot com. Maybe he's
getting a little word in his earpiece Brad to take a look. Was it of a cynical foul on the back of rosneck? He hobbles off the field yeah, I have to watch the rebail. Here we go, there's the referee got some information. Maybe you threw out a hand in his face. I'm not sure. I think it was the crunch rake the rake, and I wonder if it was cynical. And that is not what Eric Ramsey, the head coach for so too wild one because already missing players and now one
of his subs, Noyman is intentially looking at me. Now we've seen this type of foul before here, I believe by a certain jaction Raagan Yeh when he was a red card. So defends in this stadium have seen this decision go against the Sounders. Are they going to see something similar go in favor of the Sounders that they try to see this game out? I mean, look, at the end of the day, he's not making a play on
the ball. He's behind Rnak, Rusnak is pushing forward. He clearly makes an attempt to step on his back foot and catches him on the achilles and on that ankle. It's a dirty play at the end of the day. I think Jackson's was a bit different, as he's falling down and he doesn't mean to step on him. I don't think that was a red card the
one from that. Yeah, this was much more so. It looks like, yeah, there's a bit of intent there to step on the player, because Rusnak has released the ball by the time he steps on his ankle in a forward position. I think if Rusnak has control the ball on that right foot, he makes a play on the ball. But look here, the ball's already in motion and play from Rusnak and then he steps on the achilles if he snapped my achilles there, and it always looks so much worse to
slow motion. Yeah, and it's the intent though, because we don't want to talk about, oh, it's only a red card if he gets injured. But in that one, I think that's gonna come back as a red card. The referee continues to look at his monitor, continue to have a conversation with var ther Tonight is Kevin start so experience referee and see what the referee says, and of course he will announce it in the stadium what his
decision is after review. Number forty four Minnesota commits a serious foul play offense final decision as red card number forty four Minnesota. Yeah, big share from the crowd referee changes his decision from a yellow, it goes to a red. Christopher all Don gives a little high five to Yeah, he's telling him where to get off the field. He thought it was gonna go to his bench. You gotta go that way. Fum Yeah, give them a little high five, said, you know, yeah, go that way that way,
and then the fans saying hey, hey, goodbye. Hopefully he knew it. That is as good as a goal for the sound as ten men now. But let's not forget what Miami did today. Down to nine men and they get a winner in the last minute or so of the game against Philadelphia in Philadelphia. It's an amazing result by Miami. On their travels. See another substitution. He said, that was the added time. I think
it may have been yet. Added time was seven minutes. We've got two subs on the sideline, so we're just trying to figure out if that was a sub because Fragapaarne is number seven is on the field still for Minnesota. But it was seven minutes. About a time Sounders leading two goals Sanila here at Lumen Field. Jonathan Bell been out for a number of weeks after picking
up an injury in the US Open Cup games. Ready to come on the field is new towards the end line left foot Jeors had across collected by Clint Irwin. Only Obert Vargas and Jordan Morris were there, and Rosneck's asking for a change here That rake on the back of the leg bind Neiman, who got the red card, has caused Rosnick now to go down. Hopefully nothing too serious. We'll see if Schmeetz has going to change his sub. I'm not sure if it was Bell that was planning to come on for Rossnick.
I think the most for those of you listening, the most dangerous part of that play where Albert has to come off because his foot was planted. The left foot was planted when the tackle came in on the back of his ankle achilles in CAF and I think that's why Albert's gonna have to come off here. You know, you give it a go for a couple of minutes. Maybe you look up at the clock. Why am I going to push this for seven minutes up to nothing a playoff game? I think he shrugs it
to the side. Well, there's New who getting a couple of high fights. Really good performance. For new who coming back from international duty, heavy legs. I'm sure from all the travel. Jonathan Bell's gonna come on for his first game in a number of weeks since that US Open Cup win.
He comes going to play light for like on that left hand side, and then Danny Labor is going to come and slide in to that number ten role for Ruzneck got the assist for Jordan Morris's goal, Sounders leading to nil here, so two minutes of seven or did he tick by to get the running clock here in the stadium, Paul gets Lord Ford by Ericson headed forward by Bell as we Rock Rock picks it up, he gets bundled down by it Smith rough Rock gets it going and Mitensio has it just needs to be solid
to the Sounders. Now see these out out these final five minutes they lead here two goals to nil. We'll get switched from Christian Rolldon and let's don't forget the role that Christian Willdon's played. Let's play what all week and playing in that attacking third of the field on the outside right within a minute has to go replace his brother right back and just like Paul Rothworks had a great contribution to this game, Christian will doones played well in that right hand start
as well. Story of my career, He's trained in one position. He says, you're gonna have to play left back. Okay, I'd rather be left left back than left out, so I'll take it. I think for Christian, you know his versatility and leadership. And as the game went on, we asked why they make that sub, but I think it became apparent they knew that Minnesota was gonna sit with five in the back and Christian was
going to be that outlet moving forward. And for the coaching staff, I think he provides more in attack coming from a right back position with Paul Rothrock, then Christian does just hovering on that line, and I think you saw it tonight and his defensive word was fantastic tonight. He played a solid game once again. And with Christian we've talked about it in years past. It just doesn't make the wrong decision. And that's what's always been so impressive about
Christian. As he can slot in at right back, I trust him as left back, and it's a body type thing, but it's also just a spatial awareness and that comes from playing as a number six or a number eight throughout your whole career. You know every position, you know how it should be played. Well. The nice thing about when you played three at the back with outside wingbacks is if Rothrock can occupy that wingback, it then gives
license full rolled on to maybe go the outside find some space. Especially if the three at the back, which Minnesota do play it it played quite narrow well. Then at the end of the day, Christian's playing as a midfielder. Yeah, it's not necessarily. Yes, he's had to defend in instances, But I think if you look at this Minnesota lineup tonight, they don't have their two starting forwards, they don't have that firepower. So why not
take a chance. Let Christian play defensively against a team that's not that strong in attack, and pick and choose your moments to push forward and create. Let's get you some results around the league. As Minnesota build out the back for one win for Chicago fire against a resurgent Toronto, to Miami winning two goals to one against Philadelphia, LAFC going to Orlando winning three to one against
Nicolodero's group. As Rothrop picks it up, strides forward inside the eighteen yard box, cuts it towards Jordan Morris finds the foot of a Tensio cuts it back. Given away cheaply by Atensio. Given a couple of balls away. It's being on the field. Frank Aaparne picks it up, rolls it back to Dugan and clip it forward. It comes where Minnesotan on the field. Four Minnesotans for Minnesota United last week against Dallas. They try and fill in
spots for the players missing due to international duty. Is where it comes back, drags down, roll done. Let's get you a couple more results around the Western Conference. Rail Salt Lake going to Montreal Neil nil Houston, the team that Sounders will play, got a tow to draw against Atlanta United. It comes Jordan Morris towards the end line with his right foot, strikes at
across dug and cuts it out. Corner kick for the Sounders on this right hand side to get into the final minute of this game, and you think now, Brad games done. Sounders get their three points, get a clean sheet for Stephan fry Bull goes into roth Rock heavy touch, slashes it off. Its gonna be another corner kick, but coming back from his performance last week gets Kansas City, obviously disappointing for him, disappointed for the team. He gets a clean sheet, exactly what you want. Yeah, not much
for stuff to do tonight. He had one little bobble in the first half, but it was only because the winds blow and the ball is wet. But at the end of the day it comes labor chance. It was a good clipball by JP, so I didn't sim his left foot to kind of swiveless hips players right, goes over the end line, high and wide into the south stand. Remains two goals to nil here and this score up thing
is presented by provident Swedish a little set play from there. I mean he sees and JP's shaking his head like, come on, you gotta put that on the frame. But you know, Steph and Fry is gonna lead from the back, always right, and he's been so steady throughout his entire career. One mistake doesn't define this Sounder season. It wasn't a case of Stephen Fry ruined the season last week. It's one mistake. Everyone has made a mistake. We've met seven red cards on this team, so the pins some
one loss on step and Fry simply isn't fair. He's led from the back. He's got the shutout. Now it's about getting this team on a run going into Wednesday night. Sounders by far the better team tonight, deserve to win in Minnesota. Beneemk in every department Tonight the Sounders a much much needed
win in a big, big three points. You have two goals, Sanil here on your fiftieth anniversary celebration night started off with Jordan Morris headed from a free kick and then Paul Rothrock comes in on the back stick puts it in the back of the net to make it two goals. Sanil Well, thanks

a great win for your Sounders here. Luminfield final score Seattle two Minnesota zip A shut out here at lumin Field in front of few tens of thousands of fans. It was both rainy and cloudy, and Sonny, we saw all signs of the weather here tonight at Luhman, but we also saw a great Sounders win. It was one nothing at the half, and we're gonna hear from the second goal scorer Paul Rothrock in a moment. But he is the
one that made this game to nothing. Flick around the quota by Chew towards Vogas, good little pull into Chew into the six yard bucks and across a last Paul Rothrock fittill second goal for the Sounders, Leo Chu with the assist the Sounds go up two goals to nil. Great goal and a great win for your Sounders. Welcome into the postmatch show, Jackson Feltz. Diego Ario. We're gonna hear from Rothrock with Michelle Ludk in a matter of moments.
But diego, just quick thoughts of this being a very very good win for your Sounders tonight and three much needed points. Yeah, it was a special night. They needed the three points and definitely right a way to win. Yeah, what a way to win. Indeed, let's go down on the field. It is Michelle Lovekat with Paul Rothrock. Thank you Jackson, Yes, I'm here with Paul. Paul. Obviously you got the call here tonight
that you were going into the match a minute into the match. What went through your mind when you saw that you were going in That's a good question. I uh, I kind of had a feeling I get some good playing time tonight. I had a good week of training and luckily I felt ready to go. And just to the coaching staff for trusting me and putting me
in and in that situation. And I really hope Alex is okay. I don't know what happened to him exactly, but yeah, I mean, you ought to always be ready, so I always try and prepare for coming in the game whenever. You know, I came into Salt Lake at like the twentieth minute when Leo got hurt. So those things happen, you gotta be ready, exactly. You never want to see a teammate go down. But
it was a wonderful performance by you tonight making the most of it. What does it mean to you knowing that you did make the most of this, of course, scoring your second MLS goal tonight. Yeah, I mean this is what kids dream of, right. I think it makes all those days when you don't get in off the bench or you don't even make the roster.
You know. I had a couple of games this season and last season where I was watching from the stands, and those were humbling experiences, and all those experiences feel like they are all worth it after a night like tonight, and to get a win with my buddies and and some of my best friends, is feels really really special speaking of that kind of special friendship and feeling with this group, this team. We saw it after Jordan Morris's goal,
a whole team celebration. What was going on there? What can you tell me about how that all unfolded? You know, I'm not gonna say too much about that, but let's just say the guys like playing cards together and that was a tribute to that. And I think it's made us a lot welser, you know, especially on the plane. We traveled a lot in May, and I think that helped us get closer as a group, and eventually, you know, those bonds start paying off. We start playing
more like a team. I thought we really played like a team tonight, we were together. You know, I thought everyone had a pretty good game, and that's what we need going forward. What does it mean to this group knowing that you're kicking off the second half of the season, you started off with a win back at home. What does that do for this group moving forward, knowing that there's still a lot of season to play. Yeah, I think Spencer said it tonight, let's start the second half of the
season with a win at home, and we did exactly that. And you know, I think power of positivity right like, we're still right within playoff spot. We're three games away from a trophy and Open Cup. Still have a lot to play for, a lot of season to play for, and you know, it just takes a couple of breaks here and there and we can we can get rolling. And I hope, I hope we're starting your role in tonight. Paul, really appreciate the times. Congratulations on the performance,
the goal and the win. Thank you. And I just want to say, have your father's dad and my pops. I love that. Happy Father's Day to all the dads out there, Thanks so much. Thanks Michelle, It's Michelle with Paul Rotha. Happy Father's Day to all dads out there with Father's Day tomorrow, including my dad's skip listening, Thank you Dad for everything, and Happy Father's Day. Well, lots to react to from that conversation there with Paul Rothrog, I thought some very interesting things, including the
card game. Josh Atensio has told me the name of that card game. It's not a name we can repeat on the air, but it is a card game that everybody takes part in it. It's very fun. So for that to come out, and that's why he couldn't say much because he can't say the name of it on live radio, but it's certainly a card game that everybody loves. So for them to bring the team celebration and Diego, I think that he's so right on. This did feel like a team win
for the Sounders. That goal that he scored, especially a team goal. I loved what I saw, Like I think I started to you just moments before we took the air, that was Sounder Soccer. That too, nothing win. That felt like Sounder's classic Sounder Soccer. Yeah. I love to see as Taple win like this, right, especially on the fiftith anniversary night love what also Paul was saying, right it's it's getting that opportunity. We're
talking why Paul Rothrock coming in instead of Cody. But I'm gonna I'm gonna keep questioning guys for the rest of my broadcast, but if they're gonna keep that hurting. But at the end of that, he proved that, he proved us that he wanted to be in the pitch getting those those uh this opportunity doesn't come back off. And I guess he was saying some games you can't have a chance even to be on the bench, right, So getting that opportunity, being able to score and also having a really full, uh
solid game, it really is gonna now bring to branch matter. Okay, the question now is ready for for additional games and he's gonna be, you know, in the spot competing and we need that internal competition, right.
I think that's also important. I also love to see Jerman or a score tonight because also that incentivizes to the internal competition with Rolridiez, right for that's part of number nine and I think that was needed, that he was needed, some fire needed to be sparked, especially before this match, because we
know where the Sounders were at and now with this win. It's it's really a staple of Okay, we're heading into League s Cup, but there's still several games that the Saunders can actually you know, get the three points and they we're getting in a really good position in in playoff position. So we look at this next week and this next we listen, we're joming way ahead in the post matchup. But I think you bring up a really good point
in the context of this next week. You have a Wednesday match at Houston here on June nineteenth, Roll that he's going to be the starter in that
game. You'll probably give Jordan Morris, whether it's on a wing or on the bench, give Jordan Morrison time, get time for Roll to start there, and then you kind of come to the weekend match and if Role plays done on Wednesday, you'd think then for the Saturday match on June twenty second, one week from time, right here against Dallas back here at Lyomenfield, all right, well that's standing. You revert back to Jordan just because of
that midwek rotation. But then you're off a week and then you have a fresh home match against Chicago on June twenty ninth, and there's no midweek match there, So then it becomes the question of all right, well, I
guess we'll see what happens these next two matches. But if Jordan Morris is putting together four goals in five games, by the way, I love that Loomenfield is playing and taking care of business right now the classic post match show song by the way, for those who can't hear in the background, Loomenfield is currently playing and taking care of business. I don't know if that's Mitch, but thank you for listening to the postmatch show and playing this in the
stadium. That's fantastic. Anyway, I think it's a question of what you do there in that next week off if Jordan Morris continues the run he's on, because you have to continue to find ways and he's coming up with big moments in big plays in different ways. Tonight it was with the head.
Yeah. Especially that goal came when the Sounders were not playing really well, right, So it was a set piece and they will convert and that changed the game because if you think about before that goal, Minnesota was pressing high. They were winning some balls that the Saunders were challenge in terms of in the build up, right, So it comes that goal and that opens up a different game. And I think to your point, I think Gorden Morris
in that sense, it's a formula that worked in the past. For example, last season for Rechmetzer having Jordan Morris when we all question why he's not a number nine, Yeah, but then he was a top goal scorer for the Sounders. Right well, I'll tell you what I mean right now. The proofs in the pudding, and it's darning good taste in pudding. I mean, this is this is the best tay four goals in five games. Can't get much better than that, I guess five and five. But listen,
Jordan, I'm not gonna ask you to do that. It's a great win for your Sounders, two nothing over Minnesota, third place team in the Western Conference. Sounders right now they move into a tie for I believe ninth place in the Western Conference. There's three teams on twenty one points. What is it, Austin, Portland and Seattle. Diego check me on, ye it's a Seattle ninth place points on top of Portland. Gotcha? So right
now Seattle has jumped Portland. Right now with the gold differential, Seattle is at plus one Portland is at zero, so Seattle are in the playoff picture at ninth place. Suck at Timbers, you're now out of the playoff picture in tenth. It's a good night here at Luminfield fiftieth anniversary night, and what a celebration of soccer it was to see hundreds of former Sounders and family members of former Sounders out here being celebrated. You know, I spoke to
him just over a phone call. I wish Pete Fewing could have been here in our broadcast booth to see it, and even be down there on the field because such a great member of our team. And listen to see all of the members down there and to see Danny, I mean, great job. You know, I'm seeing the whole thing from on the field. It was just a tremendous sight down there, as this really was fifty years being celebrated with so many great players. In the fact that they got to all
this. The Sounders get a two nothing win tonight over Minnesota, it's just outstanding. Well out to Airlines is proud to donate one soccer ball for every mile ran by Sounders FC players this season. He gets the second goal and we walk away with a two to nothering win over the Loons. Well, let's get to our Emerald Queen Casino play of the match tonight. It was the opening goal for Seattle in the twenty eighth minute. Well comes in Jordans backer than that and it is just as part of an ask for the Sounders get on the board here on

Also Sounders e FC Soccer is presented by Providence, Swedish official healthcare partner of Sounders FC. Jackson and Diego here on the post match show and and Diego at the start of the game. We talked a lot in that first segment about Leo Chu getting the start and Brian making the change of Jordan up top Chew
on the left. We know they have a Wednesday match at Houston where you don't need roll rudyz to come up big in that game, but it was interesting that that we see this lineup here this weekend. What do you think Leo Cho showed today? Did you do enough to get some more playing time?
That's a good question, I think uh. And we talked about how important was this game for Leo Chu right from the from the get go, I think I like what I see I saw, but I think, you know, I get the sense of he he was able to at least play ten more minutes right and he got the chance, and I think that when the substitution comes in is really for from Brian's standpoint, I let's secure this one, not go for one additional goal. Let's secure the to Neil,
I like that change. So in that sense is yeah, security three points and being just thinking already about to your point the game in Houston, right, So that's that's giving. I think again from little Chew, I'm still wanted to see, especially there's been some sparks in in games, even away games, so Houston, if he has a chance to play, it would be good good to see him. But I think today it wasn't like a round up performance from him, but at least he was able to influence the
game in a good way. And I do like to see always Jorean Morriy's second score, not only scoring, but a game that approaching is a number nine. You know, it's interesting halftime we talked about, you know the question of why Paul Rothrock, why not alike for liking Cody Baker, why not a josh Atencio you side obed up to the right wing. Christian goes
back to right back like he did in what played out. I think the more I kind of look at the view from thirty five thousand feet and the more I think about what Brian Spencer may be saying in a few minutes at his press conference is we know we have the match on Wednesday, and Wednesday we're gonna need Cody Baker to go because we know that either Alex or Knew who gets rotated out, Cody can come in play that fullback spot. Totally
fine a Tensio. Here's here's an interesting thing, and this is kind of what sparked the thought is for the first time in an I don't know how long Joel Paul though started the match and went the full ninety's always felt like JP's been coming off around eighty eighty five and he's not playing these full matches. He went the distance tonight. That tells me a lot about how he's
feeling right now and how he's doing. And it also tells me that Atensiom maybe getting his spot there come Wednesday in Houston, and that maybe Wrey the reason why Brian didn't put him on because he's already thinking about Wensday. Yeah, that I think from the straggic point of view, Yes, I think also in terms of when we see Joe Poulo play the full night. It's a different team, right, total Seattle Sounders. So I think it's good
to see him back in shape and healthy. And Joe Paulo is is that player that really to me is the backbone of the team, right, especially in the midfield. But you just talking about you were talking aout Josh Attenzi. I did like also Obed Vargas, right, he had a not only I would say a solid performance the entire game, but also a few sparks that you could see the talent that he has in one of a chance that he had in you know, with a shot that went wide on the side
and net. But it's it's good to see that. And then in terms of I think for you know, just thinking and we'll talk about Houston a little bit, but I think overall this performance it's it's a Sounders win that the team needed, yes, and also the all the fans that we're here for the celebration, you know, it's one of those like, oh finally you get like a good performance three points. But also overall Sounders were dominant
over the last month. I feel like we've had these results where it's late in the game and we've lost a lead, and I'll go home angry and I'll just be like, you know, the Vancouver the penalty decision and what happened against RSL, and I'll just you know, I'll just throw my pen down and go God, that should have been three points. To actually get that three points right, it's sending all of us, you know, out of three five thousand, I don't know how many people are there were exactly,
but it looked about thirty five ish thousand. It's sending everybody home happy because we all got that. Ah, we did this time. So let's do it again one week from tonight here at Luminfield. But before that, we do have a match to talk about on Wednesday against Houston. We'll talk about that coming up next on the postmatch show. When Sounders win back here at Luminfield, Jackson and diego with the match show following the two nothing Sounders win here at Luminfield over third place in Minnesota. United With the win, Seattle jumps up to twenty one points and they jump Portland for the last playoff spot. The Timbers go down. They're on the outside looking in, but still have half of the season to go. Still a long way to put Portland even further down
the table, so hopefully we see that in the next months ahead. But for the Sounders, a lot of time to get further up the table. Hopefully we're you know more, looking at a home playoff game when this thing is all said and done to start off the playoffs. But long way to go for Seattle and the next match up for them will be a Wednesday match This Wednesday at Shell Energy Stadium in Houston, Texas, facing the Houston Dynamom. We were talking about it the last segment. Let's just continue that conversation about the freshness of this team to be able to put out a pretty darn good roster in lineup, I think on Wednesday, given that a bunch of key players like Atensio, Ruy Diaz, Baker, et cetera didn't have to play in this game or heavy minutes in this game, So you're gonna get a lot of fresh legs for a big game against Houston. Yeah, especially you need those fresh legs. It's it's it's a hard pitch to play in,
especially now in the summer it's really hot, really humid. And also you're facing a Houston team that, even though this season they haven't been that consistent, they're they're the Open Cup champions, right, and they're pretty they have I would say a few stars like Coco Kaskia, Ectra Area that they're gonna be poised also to beat the Seattle Sounders, right. So I think it's it's it's a game that, yeah, you need to put the best you
have. So Branch Metzter in that sense, he was really, you know, managing minutes for some players so you can get them and have them available
for Wednesday. You mentioned weather, and then Amelia went to, Okay, yeah, you're right, a lot human a lot of weather, and yeah, I'm showing everybody in my phone, right, now because I was googling Houston weather and then I clicked on Wednesday, and unfortunately, ladies and gentlemen, there's a forecast of eighty one degrees, a precipitation of ninety with a high chance of thunderstorms. So hopefully that forecast changes in the next few days
for Wednesday, but that's the current situation. We'll see. How you know it is, it's well it Texas. Exactly how many times have we seen Dallas Keeley. I mean we've seen situations there. Yeah, two thumbs way down on that one. Yeah. So I mean, listen, we'll see what the weather looks like Wednesday against Houston. Hopefully that thunderstorm forecast changes. But I agree with you. I think that this team right now and they're
