Coming off of perhaps the win of the
year and certainly the comeback of the year. Your Seattle Sounders are home once again here at a rainy Lumen Field with a great chance to grab three points and rise up the Western Conference table against the last place team in the Eastern Conference, the Chicago Fire. So welcome to the Sounders FC pre match show presented by Providence Swedish, official healthcare partner of Seattle Sounders FC. Jackson Felt's
here in the booth alongside Pete Fewing and Brad Evans. Danny Jackson and Steve Zachawani will have the call for Sounders and Fire coming up in just over a half hour, and Tonight's match is presented by Tequila Hera Dura. Tequila Hery Dura combines tradition and innovation, honoring over one hundred and fifty years of award winning tequila making history. Please drink responsibly, gentlemen. It's gonna be a big chance for the Sounders to continue the vibes, which are very good.
Seven point week three to two comeback win over Dallas with three goals scored in sixteen minutes. You know, being down in the seventy seventh, you get the header by Raoul, you get the header by Jordan, and then Obed with that pass to Morris for the winner there in the ninety fourth minutes. Pete, the vibes are good right now, at least with the guys who
are playing to night. We'll get to a couple who aren't in a moment, but at least coming off of last week and last Saturday's comeback win, that was a great time that you know, is gonna be fueling some guys here tonight. Yeah, a bit of a vintage Sounders victory. Brad was certainly a part of a lot of those, And honestly, the way it's gone this year, weren't necessarily thinking that was how it was gonna go.
We've seen it in past years, team coming back finding their way and so it was great to see a kind of a flashback of times where three great goals. Man Jordan's head was fantastic. Ruy Diaz comes in off the bench, he puts it away and then Jordan's finish for the third goal. What I love because a big Jordan Morris fan. I loved his celebration after running straight to the corner. He was fired up. You know, he normally isn't too animated, but it meant something to him and meant something to the
crowd. So and we're playing the right team at the right time after that with Chicago today, So yeah, it's that has to be a great lift for everybody in the locker room. And and it's a reminder of you know, Brian Schpetzer talks a lot about Brad about the history who we are, we never give up, and that was a perfect example. And now this one then New England next week. Great opportunity to write the ship a little
bit. He the vibe doctor, Vibe doctor. Yes. So after that celebration, you know, they celebrated with tell me the team cook, the team chef, oh, I love it, and and the two staff and you know, you saw the celebration the week before it gets Minnesota where they're all gathering together playing cards, a little knock to some comments that were made from from fans and people from within the organization as well, and so I think it just goes to show that this is a united group there and it
is different. We have to admit that it is different because we've asked questions who's the leader of the team, what are they doing off the field. But I think times have changed in MLS where everything is really inside the locker room. So I think we're done asking questions about how this team is going to move forward. But the biggest test is tonight. Obviously, yes, seven points in a week, but now you don't want to have a lull.
Chicago Fire. Two of their four wins have come in the last three games, and so it's still a dangerous opponent, right, whether or not they're at the bottom of the table. How many times have the Sounders faced the team at the bottom of the table that haven't won here in a long time, right, and not been able to get the results against team? Right, You're totally I don't want to knock on wood, but I'm sick
and tired of it. I've parked in the same part working spot the past three games, so I'm hoping that this will let the Sounders know, let the fans know that the Sounders are here to stay and hopefully close out this second part of the season. As we were coming in, we part near the players and two of the guys said, Brad parked in the same spot. We're gonna win, so going, You've done your part, so now
we got to make sure that we take care of it. But you're right, Brian Schmester does not like these kind of situations right where he's playing against the last place team because Chicago has nothing to lose right now, right and so if they can get to halftime zero zero and bunker in and slow the
game and all that. That's where Seattle Christian roll Donald was talking about it, that they've got to get some goals earlier, not wait till this fifty seven to sixtieth minute, put this team down right away, and again pick up on that momentum of those sixteen minute three goal spell. It's absolutely right. Well, we are continuing to count down to kick off here just about thirty five minutes away here on Sports Radio in ninety three point three KJR FM
Sounders and Fire. We'll get to the Delta starting eleven here in just a moment. Before we do, quickly, we'll I've into the Providence Swedish team health report, and i'll also the availability of players here. John Bell is not available for the Sounder. He's not hurt or anything. He's just on international duty with Jamaica for Copa America. I am happy to report that nobody is questionable. Pedro de la Vega is off of the injury report and he's
on the bench tonight for the Sounders. Pete, it's great to have him back. Yeah, you know, watching him run around the field, watching him at training, he's just got such a spring in his step, and he's got a joy about the way he plays. And it's perfect time for him to get back on the pitch and bring some energy into this squad. He's confident, you know. It's one of his first games. See gets a penalty kick, he steps up to take the PK. So he's got
the respect of his teammates. The fans are very eager to see him get on the field and again he brings He's got that Paul Rothrock exuberance, right that he brings some joy and energy to the field. So hopefully we get him see him fifteen twenty minutes a night. Right, Well, we've been waiting for this all season. Right. Well, we've had a couple of times where we've had we've seen it, and then we have to wait again. We've seen it, we've heard reports that he's been training, and then
it's a reinjury. And look, I've been through those moments as well, where you just can't seem to get fit, and even as a young player my first year, pulled a quad, four weeks later, pulled the same quad six weeks later, pulled it again, put on season ending injury. So I know what it's like to be, you know, a twenty two year old in a new place, albeit not a new country, but to go through that. Every player faces it at some point, and you just
hope that now he's over the hump. He looks strong, he looks ready to go, and I think that he will ignite this team. It's basically a summer signing, right We've asked who are the summer signings going to be? This is a summer signing. You just happen to know him a little bit better than someone's just coming into the fold. That's absolutely right. Brod deeler Heria is also out with a hamstring injury. He suffered another hamstring injury
in training this week. Today's team how the Port is presented by Providence, Swedish official healthcare partner of Sounders. I have seen. So the other thing we need to talk about before we get to the lineup, because you'll hear the lineup and you'll probably wonder where's New Who and where's raw Redia. So we'll talk about it, well, we you know, we do have to
bring it up because obviously mean Brian Schmester, it was unusual. He had a Tuesday press conference and then he went back to US reporters on Wednesday, which doesn't usually do to update the situation regarding Raw ready As and New Who. Uh. They were not going to be taking part in today's game. They will be rejoining the team tomorrow morning, coming off of this game and looking ahead to the New England game next Saturday. This is a coach's decision.
Obviously, there's been lots of media reports this week and stuff going on, but no row Readias and no New Who. Before we get to the line of it and and you know, just we'll cover this situation really quickly right now for both you guys, Pete Brad, I don't know if you've ever been in a situation like this before, but it is unusual, and I'm wondering how the team players and everybody around the team is, you know, would absorb a situation like this and move forward through a situation like this
without Roland Knew, who has participating in this game today and participating in training with the team this week. Well, I like the decision and I think it's one of those that the coach had to do it. Sometimes there's the elephant in the room that has to be addressed. He addressed it. I think it gives a chance for some of the other guys that Christian rolled on being one and Jordan and Albert, a lot of them, JP just saying, come on, let's get this thing right. It's been a frustrating year
and that we haven't gotten the results we want. And then if the attitudes aren't team first, then you're gotta make some adjustments. And then he's doing the right thing tomorrow. Get him back in the fold, and sometimes that elevates a team. I've had to do it. I've had to do it in the I did it one year at a University of Portland game. I just left a player home in the locke. I met him in the in the parking lot and I said, you're not going. And then I met
his dad at our restroom halfway to Portland. I said, oh, mister so and so your son's not playing. And his dad just said, Okay, what do you do? I said, he was disrespectful, not team first, and he's not playing. Next year we won the national championship. So and with that guy being an All American and leading our team and being captain. So sometimes you have to do this, Brad, You've seen it, and sometimes you gotta. It's Brian Schwetzer's team and he's gotta make decisions.
That's a hard decision. It's a gutsy decision. But I back at one hundred percent. And my understanding is the players do as well. Yeah, look, you can't. You can't expect a locker room of you know, twenty eight guys to all get along all the time with staff and everyone.
Yes, you have your workplace environment, but this is different. Everything's heightened, right, and especially when you're not having the season that you want to have, especially when your contract is running out and you're kind of seeing the riding on the wall. So the little things kind of irk you a little bit. Every player thinks they have more in the tank to give, But at the end of the day, I thought so too. Zach Scott
thought so also. I've been on teams where you know, Clint Dempsey gets in a fistfight on the field, or Eddie Johnson with with Freddy Montero and Damian Lowe. These things happen within a team competitor, and then you just you get to the other side. Is that at some point a statement has to be made to know that the team is first, and kudos to schmidtz are making that decision. I think it was good timing on it as well. And then you welcome guys back into the fold only if they want to
be there. The question has to be a honest if you don't want to be here, then go somewhere else. Just don't even show up to practice, right And I think that will be the question of the character and how these guys return to the fold, and then the writing will be on the wall from there right, and ultimately it's just a tested character. But I
know that these guys stand behind the decision. You heard Christian's comments throughout the week, and you have to you have to move on from even these little moments. And we're gonna hear comments from Christian coming up here in a little bit in the prematch show as well, but also looking ahead to this game here against the Fire. But if you're just joining us, no raw Ruy Diaz today, No knew who. That is a coach's decision. It was
an internal matter earlier this week. Coaches decision that they will not take part in today's game. They'll rejoin the team come on coming up tomorrow morning. So with that, we turn the page and we look ahead to what is going to be on the field for this today a Pete viewing. Let's get to Brian Spencer's Delta starting eleven. It's four to two three one. It's a very good lineup. Stephen Fry is your captain in goal, Alex Roldan
returns to the right back spot. Gomes Andrade and Reagan are your center backs. Read Baker Whiting. Awesome opportunity for that kid, and he's been playing well he is your left bat Ovid Vargas jal Paula will be in the center of the park on the right hand side. Christian Roldn Albert Rusnik will be in the middle, sitting underneath Jordan Morris and Leo Chew on the left. It's a good lineup and I, like Brad said, everybody's behind this.
I think we're gonna get a great effort from this squad, a great collective effort from this group tonight. Yeah, this is about the group that's on the field, and you have to be licking your chops and facing the Chicago Fire team. But sometimes it's actually easier to play against a team that's really
good because they become predictable on how they play. It's good to play against an LAFC because, yes, it's it's always going to be a challenge, but at least you know what you're gonna expect, right, you know what to expect, right, There's not gonna be a lot of what ifs. I think this Chicago Fire team, with the amount of players they have out, the guys that they're going to bring in international duty, I think there's still a lot of question marks on what the Sounders are going to face tonight.
No matter how much video you watch, no matter how much scouting reports you have, it's always going to be a challenge to face a team like this tonight. But at the end of the day, it's all about the Sounders being at home and you've got to get to five hundred to give yourself a chance to get into the playoffs. Absolutely and well. Jordan Morris is getting started the startup top again. Five goals in his last six games.
He's on fire right now. More than just the fire we saw a blaze out of the sides after he scored the winner last week and got his brace. He's feeling it right now and a big opportunity for Reid Baker. Whiting for sure left back with as we mentioned, new not participating today. So listen. Albert Rusnak of the nine assists after two against Dallas. He's looking
great as well. Sounders. They are looking to continue what was a very good week last week seven points in three games, got the win over Minnesota and then the winn against Dallas at home. Hope to make it three and three weeks here tonight against the Chicago Fire. We are just about twenty five minutes away from kick here at Emerald Creene Casino, Pitch at Luminfield. Today's satt and On Kickoff is presented by Emerald Cree Casino, the entertainment capital of

We'll also give you the Sounders players to watch. Still have to get to of course, comments from Christian rodn Keys to the match history against Chicago lot Still we get to here on the Providence Swedish premat show live from Lumenfield, preparing for Sounders and

Soucker on Sports Radio ninety three point three kjr FM, Welcome back to Luminfield. You're Seattle Sounders facing the Chicago Fire tonight. Here the rain it seems like, has stopped at the moment, just some cloudy skies overhead. It is warm here Luminfield, So a nice, pleasant evening of soccer ahead between the Sounders the fire. Time for today's Sharp Vision Opponent Alot taking a look at the visiting Chicago squad. The Opponent Alot each week is presented by Sharp
Vision Modern Leaskan Lens, the official Lasik provider of Sounders FC Well. To say that the Chicago Fire have had a tough goal in twenty twenty four would be a little bit of an understatement. Last place in the Eastern Conference right now with just eighteen points, a four to nine and six record. Their twenty three goals scored is for less than the Sounders. Their thirty four goals
conceded is nine more than the Sounders. And as we mentioned that last segment, you know, a tough go but they're playing better in this last month. Two wins, two draws, and only one loss in the last five games. That one loss is came last week their last game at Orlando City. So Pete Frank Lopez coaching, this team had again rough goal of it, but they're feeling a little bit better about themselves over this last month. Yeah, and Colopus is a good coach. He's been in this league for
a long long time. He will have them prepared, he will have them calm and relaxed. Everybody comes to play Seattle, they get excited about coming to this city, coming to this stadium, playing against this team. It is one of the games you're gonna circle on your calendar. And as we all know, in this league, any day, any team can do it. So there are four to four to two, which I kind of like. I love it when you got a second striker up front that's going to
contain Regan and gomas Andrati a little bit more. But you're right, they haven't gotten the goals and they've certainly given up a ton. So for me, as they said a couple of minutes ago, they've got to get out early, right. If Jordan Morris can go on on one and poke one away, get goodspree starts with Rusnak, we've got to get a goal early to bury him. Look, this is a team that hasn't had a winning
season since twenty seventeen. It's one years. It's one that, yes, you mark on your calendar because you know that you're most likely winning this game, and you should win this game. I don't think they provide too much on paper of danger. But that being said, you know the Sounders down to San Jose earlier this year and lost down in San Jose. And that's a team that's in a very similar position to the Chicago Fire and also one
that you don't get to see play that often. They don't play too many West Coast teams, so you know, yes, there's gonna be a bit of unpredictability tonight, But at the end of the day, it's all about the Sounders and what they do and what they decide to do. If they come out and show show up to play, I think it'll be a fantastic night for the Sounders and the fans and just keep this one moving along for the Sounders. I you're absolutely right, you know. I think you mentioned
that. You know you look at what Chicago does on paper wise. I mean, Hugo Kuipers is their forward to worry about. Seven goals on the year, He's a six to one forward from Belgium. Important to note on Kuiper's at least he's recorded a gold contribution in five straight matches, four goals, one assist. He's the first player to do that in four and a half years for the Chicago Fire. So you may also know the name Shakiri. Shakiri is on international right now, so he's not even available for the
Chicago Fire. They're also missing fullbacks Chase Gasper Andrew Gutman, a couple other players as well, So it's a Fire team that is not at their best right now because of availability. They're not at their best right now because they're coming off of a lost last week to Orlando City. But listen, Frank Clopis Pas you mentioned me he's a former broadcaster. He's he's a former player,
and then he went from the playing side to the broadcasting side. The Fire would always say, interview Clopus for your match previous for my show. I talked to Frank a few times and he's a really good broadcaster, and then they just said all right. He went from the blair to the booth to a head coach, and then here he is now this year taking over. He is the new full time head coach after he was the interim coach last year after they fired our friend Ezra Hendrickson. So Clopus was able to
keep the job after last season. So there's your info there on the Chicago Fire. But as Brad said, it is all about the Sounders. So let's switch our tension back to the Seattle Sounders and get our players to watch Peter. You're Brad, are you ready for your player to watch to day for Seattle? Yeah? Sure. I hope Jordan has another great game. I think you saw a different side to Jordan in the last you know,
fifteen minutes of that game. And whether it was because he got into it with Raoul a little bit about a ball that went out of bounds, whatever, it takes a light to fire, you gotta light it from the first minute, and you have to beat deadly as well. And there's something that happens when you play angry and you play a bit better. I remember early years we brought in trying to bring in some players, and I would get ticked off that no one from the organization is like, Hey, this guy's
gonna take your spot. And I just played angry and I actually played better, and I played with a chip on my shoulder, right, And sometimes that's what you have to do, especially as a number nine. And if Jordan can adopt that but still be like the good guy that he is, I think you'll see a different side to him. And you know, who knows. Maybe Albert ends up halfway through the season with nine assists. Now
if that goes to eighteen, Jordan doubles his goal account. Like, those are fantastic numbers that if you told us at at the beginning of the year, we'd be saying, no way. So get some of that, get into the rhythm and get this thing moving for the next two home games. Yeah, that's a great comment on Jordan. He wants to make sure he continues his streak of goals. For me, read Baker Whiting. I'm kind of going with a young kid that he's got a golden opportunity right now.
We've as players, if you do the job, and if you're playing for Brian Schmetzer, he's gonna leave him on the field. Right So read Baker Whiting has showing glimmers of some really good stuff. I'd love to see him have a ninety minute complete performance getting up and down. He and Sue, you know, that's gonna be something he's gonna have to adjust to. He and Chee working together. They've not had a lot of game time together. But I'd love to see the young kid from Seattle do over day. I
love that. I'm going to Albert rusnak Brat talked about him. I mean, he's feeling it right now. Nine assists on the area, had two in the last game. Over the last week, you know, going back to the the Minnesota game, he's been on fire. And it's his distribution specifically on set pieces. Yeah, they have been so good the Sounders have
on set pieces over these last few games. Let's can continue that. And no matter if the target is a you know, a shorter Jordan or a shorter role you're not finding your Jackson or yam are your big center backs. Would love to see them score two. But Risknak's finding those guys in the box, finding them in good positions. So I want to continue to see that here tonight. their third straight home win. Minnesota great comeback against Dallas last week and we hope it continues. Rolling tonight and he're against Chicago or earlier this week. I had the chance to speak with Christian Rolldan out at Long Acres after training. He talked about facing the Fire. He talked about going back to his right wing position because Alex Roldan, his brother, is out of concussion protocol. Alex is back at the right back spot that Christian has been playing.
But Christian started the conversation by talking about the situation that we talked about earlier with new Who and Roll ruy Diez neither of them participating in tonight's match. That was a coach's decision and internal matter earlier this week. So Christian talked about the situation with Roland knew Who not being part of the team's training for this week and not being part of today's game. That ready, But from Christian rolled on here in just a moment who was able to speak to training.
While we are getting that ready, I'll quickly tell you that Seattle holds a nine to four and four record against the Chicago Fires since joining MLS back in two thousand and nine. Sounders are unbeaten in seven matches at home against the Fire, five to zero to two. Last time these two teams played was back a couple of years ago, way back in twenty twenty two,
where it was a one to nothing loss out in Chicago. Last time that the Fire were here was the I want to say it was the game before COVID shut everything down, that right before everything shut down, these two teams played right here at Luminfield and it was a two to one Sounders win, and I remember leaving that game it was sort of the the the feelings of you know, all right, Sounders starting the twenty twenty season off really good.
Obviously we ended up going to MS Cup that year and it was a great win over the Fire and oh how times have changed a little bid. I meant to go back and watch the highlights of that twenty twenty game, but that definitely takes us back a little bit. Tell you what we' gonna do. We're gonna take a break here here on the Providence weis pre match show. We'll come back. We have to get the keys to the match.
We'll see if we can fit in the conversation with Christian Roldan. But we'll have more coming up on the pre match show ahead of Sounders and Fire
about ten minutes away on Sports Radio ninety three point three KJRFM. Now back to Seattle sounders Sucker on Sports Radio ninety three point three kjr FM, just about five minutes away from kick here at Emerald Queen Casino Pitch at Louminfield. Today's count on a Kickoff has been presented by Emerald Quincasino, the entertainment capital of the Northwest. As we look down and we see Steve Zachway, the Flying Winger as today's born in seventy four Sounders legend,
waving the born in nineteen seventy four flag alongside of Sammy. Great to see Steve out there. He'll be back in the booth calling the game alongside Danny Jackson in just a couple of moments. Before we get to some Keith match, we do have Christian Rodn Ready. He sorry at our commentation off by talking about playing the right wing position. He's been playing right back here for the last couple of weeks and how he plays that spot differently than Alex.
I mean, look, I played the position very different than Alex. I'm much more raw. Uh Uh my body positioning. H My positioning in general isn't as as technical as Alex is. You know, I don't have as much experience as him at right back. I also go into the midfield. Uh, you know, I go uh, I stay wide at times, I'm in the pocket. So uh, I just see the game and I and I go into positions that I think I could affect the game in.
And so uh we're completely different players in that sense. You know, He's he's much more experienced, and uh, it's healthy competition, like we were, like we talked about, it's integrating guys back into the team and and how does that that look like? You know, and so you have to to to see, uh as as a coach to see, uh what what's
clicking? And so all right, as Christian Rodan, as the players walk out to the boom boom, clap, let's dig in to the keys to the match to night here, sounders of Chicago Fire Heat, what do you got for tonight? Well, quick start right, get the wings involved, both sides, get on the end of the crosses. Restarts are going to be important. No unnecessary fouls given Chicago on opportunity to get numbers in the box or free kick around the edge of the box. They've got to pick
up where they left off with that energy and that quality. The three goals that we got with Dallas, we're fantastic goals that the balls played in were great. So we need the quality to pick up exactly where it left off. Yeah. Look, I think it'll be a Chicago Fire team that kind of sits back in a little bit. Sure, most of the way teams do, So I think it's going to be vital for the outside backs to provide good service tonight, and I think they'll provide a little bit something different.
And then at the end of the day, it's about Jordan getting on the end of something. I mean, he's got to be the leader now he smells it. Take hold of that position and run with it until someone comes and poots you out of that position. Five goals in six games, Jordan' spieling it after his brace in the three to two comeback win over Dallas Sounders trying to make it their third straight win here at lumin Field. We'll see if they can keep the good vibes going and get another w tonight against
Chicago. It'll be Danny Jackson on the call alongside Are Born in seventy four, Sounders Legend. Good evening and welcome to EUC pitch at lumen Field, where your Sounders take on Chicago Fire FC of the Eastern Conference. Chicago continue that up and down season, sitting in last position in the Eastern Conference. They
have not fulfilled their early season promise. DP Shakiri has beenline since his time in the Windy City and Since his involvement in the Euros with Switzerland, Chicago have been on a good run, losing just once in the last five games. They're started to reboot their season and look into pulster that run with a first win in Seattle tonight for your Sounders. A memorable win at home versus FC Dallas reminded the Sounders faithful what lumin field can feel like when the Sounders
are in full flow. But Brian Schmitz's men did it the hard way. For the second game in a row. They clawed themselves back from a two goal deficit, but this time they found the winner in added time and sent the home crowd into delirium. Much of the same tonight would be fun,
but an easy three zero win might be what we all need. I'm Danny Jackson alongside former Sounders winger Steve zach Quarni for the core tonight, and as the players get kicked ready to kick off, Chicago find their traditional all read out for the Red Shirts, Red Shorts and Red Sox. They're gonna get us go in here. They're attacking the goal to our right, the south end, and the Sounders in that anniversary kit Green Shirts, Blue Shorts White
Sox. They're attacking the north end to our left, and we'll get to that lineup momentarily. As read Baker whiting in for Knew who tonight on that left hand side, loses the ball in the middle of the field and here
comes Chicago quickly. Pali Selassie out to the far left hand side, gets it again thirty yards from gold closed down by Christian, roll Down, shifts it out to Dean on the far left hand side, closed down well by Christian as he clears the ball up to Jordan Morris, picked up in the middle of the field by Chicago as they whipped the ball in headed clear by Jackson Reagan cushion headed by Chicago, middle of the part they keep it.
Eric Gony on this right hand side, read Baker White and just delaying top of the boxes. A little flick inside the box back to good Year. It's the backstick. Good punch by Fry. It's clattered into I think it was by Kuiper's. It's gonna be a free kick for the sounders. Let's get you that starting lineup, that delta starting eleven for your sounder Stefan Fryan gol Alex Roldan back in the lineup on that right hand side after sitting out
a couple of games due to concussion protocol. Then it's Jeamar Reagan and then Read Baker. Whiting will come in on that left hand side for new who misses out tonight, as well as Ryle Ruy Diez as Leo two picks it up down that left hand side. We'll get to the rest of the lineup in a moment. Close Down plays the ball into Vargas inside the box towards his left foot towards the end line, brings it back double team by Chicago comes back to Read with his left foot, rips it in little flick by
Rosneck into the hands of Brady as Jordan Morris forced to the decks. Let's get the rest of that lineup. It's JP alongside Obed in the middle of the park. Christian Roldan pushes up a line on that right hand side, Rosneck in the ten, Leo two on the left, Jordan Morris as your number nine. With Frank Klopas and his Chi team, we expect to three four to three. Brady in goal, Suke Tehran and Shijos in the back. Eric Gony him and as Herbers and Dean in the midfield and then attacking
three of Selassie Gucci areas and leading goalscorer Kaiper's up front. So Steve, congratulations, you were honored today. Is the alumni who gets the way of the flag? Big congratulations. What are your keys to the game tonight? I think for the Sounder is it's do a lot more of what you've been doing. I mean, I don't think you can quite say the team has had a turn around based on the verge of one. And when you look at the next fourth of the next four of the next five MLS games are
at home, can you start to make this place a true fortress? And I think that means playing as much as you can on the front foot. And what the team's done really one recent weeks is the balance between the possession build up and when needed and necessarily going a bit more direct. So I think for today you want to see a Sounder team on the front foot. You have Jordan Morris up top, you got Leo two, You've got rolled
done. These guys are runners. Can you put pressure in behind the Chicago back line and really force them to chase your going towards that on bog Yep. Sounders looking for their third win out of three at home. When a searcher, of course, come back win for Chicago. I'll be sorry for Dallas and then Chicago. Tonight we'll round it up with New England next Saturday. Obviously Sandwich in between is July fourth. Hopefully everybody's got plans made spend
some time outside with family and friends. But tonight it's all business for the Sounders, so they're trying to make blooming Field of Fortress once again. Chicago has possession of this nearsight. Aragoni goes into him and his back in the lineup tonight. The Costa, your former US men's national team player sits on the bench, does get the start tonight. Neither does Pineda, who's been a main state in the back three. It comes Toron given away, Well
done by Alex Roldan, look given go with his brother Chris. Your top of the box whipped in by Alex. Can't quite get there, it's going to roll out to this near sight. But good quick transition played by the Sounders. Yeah, very good there from the Sounders. And you've seen it very very early on when it sounds called pick boards up high. Have to pitch that high press and turn the fire over. You're gonna have opportunities all
evening long to really get on the attack on that occasion. The past wasn't
as precise as you wanted to be. Well early on here, inside first five minutes, the Sounders showing very good intent in the attacking centers Chicago have it ball in the hand of You're going on this right hand side to how Sir Lassie finds look given go gets it back on this right hand side, plays the ball into Kuiper's big money signing in the off season middle of the parks, trying to thread the needle into house Selassie gets him behind, great
save by step and pry. Eventually the assistant referees flag goes up, cry, didn't know that made a great save with his left but you can hear the crowd. We heard that noise last week when Jordan Morris an injury time, got that winner. Sounders coming back from two goals down in the seventy fifth minute, the eighty eighth and then in injury time. As we mentioned, it was a feed from Obed Vargas, who was limping around with an
injury stayed on the field. As Brian Schmetzer said, he gutted it out, found the winning assist ball over the top to Jordan Morris, got a hold up. Brady sees it out, clicks it in his hands, rolls it out quickly to Sheehasz's good pace to this game, early Steve. It really is And I think on that one that yes it was offside, was very tight and on the backside of Jackson Reagan, and yet one of the two just has to be aware looking over the shoulders full of runners in behind.
On that occasion, offside flag came to the rescue and sold the stephil Fry just in case wasn't offside, but it was not a clear cut offside. He was very very cross and so that's the danger, the fire do you possess. Also in behind Fred, here comes Chicago middle of the park Herbers, the German player, rolls it back to sue Ke. Eric Goney quite in the off season as well, finds that man Herbers a Chicago build. Sounders just put a little bit of higher press just inside Chicago's half of
the field. See Sounders. He's got off to a great start. Last week. We weren't able to capitalize in that first half. It was JP got heavily involved, which was in his first half, for involvements in and around the eighteen yard box in the first fifteen minutes. We haven't seen that so far this season. I asked Brian Schmitzer about that yesterday about JP. Was it specific directions? It was like, nope, you wanted to grab the game by the scrup of the neck, and it's just what we want
to do. And that's what the big players do. You know, they feel the game out. We know what JP brings to the team, how much better this team is with him in there. And in recent weeks he's began to round into his very, very best form, and that's time. It's about feeling what the game is asking you to do. Sometimes about really stamping your foot in it and taking over. And that's exactly what JP did.
It's one of those players who has a quality to do that. And when the team is really down in the trenches and you look at the Sounders lineup, it's one of the guys you really look at to help drag you out those situations. And I just feel in recent weeks he's really coming back into his very best form, and he's not the only one. Christian Ruldune as well. Of course, Jordan Morris now finding the back of the net. So when your best players start playing well, you see an uptick in
result, as we've been seeing recently. And also staying on the field, we talked about JP has come off the field a couple of times during a spell about six games in space of ten games, didn't play a full ninety And now he's starting to really fill out the entire game and his presence is well felt by the Sounders and comes Reid steps in playing on that left hand side, and it brings a different attacking threat down that left hand side.
We've seen it obviously at the end of last season, got a couple of great performances in before he getting injured in the playoffs. Taking him a while to get back from that injury. But now he's got the miles under his legs from practice, got involved in a couple of games. Be interested to see what kind of involvement he has down that left hand Sow No, you're
absolutely right, Danian. He's very rarely put a foot wrong when he's gone out there reading bake Away and I think, yes, he's very good defensively, but he does add a different sort of attack and threat cause very good on the overlap, also good just playing behind the bit in support. But I like most about him is he can take you off the dribble as well. Gets in the final third. He's very brave drives at the back line.
He's got a balance it with Leo two because Leo Chow's a guy who likes to hog the width and stay wide and at times you don't need two players in that same space. So maybe Leo true at times can also read him and tuck inside and they can balance each other. But that definitely is a threat for the Sound is on the left hand side. The Sound is
playing with good pace in possession. Should I get that early goal? Of course, two games in a row where they had to come down by two goals, Houston who has a come from behind tie away from home in difficult conditions last week, of course they got that three to two win, that memorable three to two win. It comes him and there tries to find a ball in behind to how Selassie Cethro and frying a shaved blonde hair reads the
game well, comes out, slides and gathers it. But that's a perfect example we've just seen there, Dan, he would read Baker white and he plays Leo true. He goes on the overlap and the bull's given away and its entire left hand side for the sound is wide open. So yes, you want to see Reid get into the attack, but he has to pick and choose his moments because Leo two a lot like me, not like coming
back the other way. And so if you both go, someone has to defense, so read at times just support from behind rather than trying to over up to you early in the play, picking the moments to go, Yeah, it's gonna be a Chicago throw on this right hand side. A quick nine minutes so far Sounders nil, Chicago nil. Here at EQUC Pitch at lumin Field ninety three point three KGr FM. Wherever you're listening to us, Thanks for joining. Sounders tried to feed off the energy that the crowd left
this game with last week. So noise we haven't heard in a while, and certainly well deserving the team's efforts to come back from a game where I felt he had good control and all of a sudden I have nothing. Sound has found themselves after a couple of soft giveaways and goals. But it's about character and resilience. Brian Schmittz has talked about that during the week. Sounders have shown that in the last couple of weeks trying to find their third winning
a row. Here at Loomin field ball into the foot of has been extremely involved in the last couple of weeks. His delivery last week, of course, one from open play for Raoul's header. The other one from the same side of the field on the right was an out swinging cross from the corner found Jordan Morris was able to pound a header in the upper ninety of the net. Then you felt the momentum was in the Sounders favor and it was
depending how results go. Tonight, Sounds could find themselves jumping up a couple more spots up the Western Conference standings. It comes Yema right hand side, rolls the ball into Christian rolled On. JP gets the ball whipped down the line, almost finds Christian rolled On making a run in behind the back three.
It comes Haile Selassie just turns out, a pressure finds him and z Argentinian player came in a handful of years ago, signed a long term contract from Vellas sars Field fall into the foot of Kuiper's big money signing from again to you mentioned from the Belgian league in the off season, trying to find this form five goal involvements in the last five games, four goals out last
four. It comes true. Can he open up his legs down the line closed down quickly by Chicago, bundle to the ground, easy decision by the referee. Free kick for the Sounders. Yeah, and that's good from the old true at times they didn't really have anywhere to go. We have to bait the defender into making a challenge on that occasion. Who was the best
case scenario? And he gets that. And as you mentioned, the Sounders have been getting better on set pieces, so having him from Eras like this deep into the on the left hand side, about thirty yards from border, so a chance really for Albert Russnack to fire this across towards the penalty spot. And the Sounders have to have runners framing the gold to the point where if no one touches it, it just nestles into the back of the net.
But the best case scenario you maybe get a flick on, don't need much if the pace and power on the board is good in the first place. Ninus siss on his year for Albert or overdoubled his talent from last year.
One in the air, This left channel, she's been instring of this right foot doesn't miss the first man half clear by Chicago, picked up by Christian Rosneck's foot again this left channel, this near side, sounded attacking the goal to our left, tries to drop his shouler come inside good defending by Good Years, but giving up quickly. Chu has it left corner of the box. They'll step over, roll over the ball. Challenged by anything as Jonathan Dean, yes, it was comes off the foot of Chew. Is
going to be a throwing four Chicago on this near side. But today's match is presented by Tequila Headed Daughter. Tequila Headed Daughter combines tradition and innovation, honoring over one hundred and fifty years of award winning tequila making history. Please drink responsibly, let's get here. In the thirteenth minute, sounds nil Chicago
nil. Chicago made investments over the course in the last couple of years, just haven't seen the results happen on the field, so we mentioned their DP Shakiri with Switzerland big win today against Italy pushes them into the quarterfinals, becomes Rigoni this near side the right, who sees the ball his gutierres back to Aragony closed down by JP, has to slide over to this left hand side. Suket Frank Plover shifting to a three at the back after Shakiri left for
Europe has had good success. We mentioned one loss in last five, two wins, two draws. They ever thrown the far side the left Chicago Expansion Club in nineteen ninety eight in MLS, so one of the true originals, well almost originals. New England Revolution coming in next week they're one of the originals, as with Dallas who came in last week. So sunders facing three teams at home. Three of the anchor clubs have MLS over the years.
One down, two to go. Ball gets shifted forward as Kayper tries getting behind Jackson Reagan cushions his header knocked up in the air, picked up well by GP. All over the park tonight Jackson Reagan seez against foot behind the ball. Ma'e that mistake last week giving the ball away. Trying to be too cute gives the ball away again again, cheap giveaway by Jackson Reagan. Deep on this left hand side comes Gooti Ares picks the ball up him and
is almost given the ball away. Good recovery by Suke who shifts the ball from this near side the right to the far side the left. She always gives the ball away. Good closing down. Why Alex rolled on back on that right hand side, and I think Danny, we're gonna see some moments
and that with a Son has got to be patient. It's a fire team that don't mind possessing the board, and you don't always see teams come to Newmanfield and want to get on the board and sort of dictate the temple by a fire right now controlling possession and really forcing the Sounders to move from left to right, left to right. They have not been able to really penetrate the back line yet. But also for the Sounders, we do win the
ball back and Jackson Reagan had moments ago. Then you've got to keep it. If you're give it away within the first two or three passes, you'll be defending for a long time. And it takes one lapse of concentration and your pulling gets a chance on goal we were talking about last week. Sometimes
as the center back, your job is to defend. Yeah, just clear your lines, put it into the stand, knock it down the line, and then shift your line up. Jackson Reagan last week a little too cute trying to flick the ball up when he had the chance to put his left foot behind it, knock it down the line, and Dallas were able to benefit from that mistake score that goal. Sure is that? A couple of words of advice from Andy Rowis, sometimes you have to play pretty at the
back. Yeah, times you think it's safety first because you clear the ball. He might not look the best, but the key has keep the board away from our goal and don't and the Sounders have been bitten a couple of times. But trying to play out the back giving teams really easy chances. So absolutely you've got ahead your bets in that situation. If you can play, you play. If it's not on nothing wrong to put your foo free the old fashioned way, getting a ball up the field and edging your lineup.
We've talked about, you know, these goal kicks where the central defender's gonna shift on the court of the six. I think you and I are both traditionalists. I don't understand it. Yeah, I don't understand it. Yeah, parts of the boards to defendit side a six yard box doesn't make sense to me, so I think. And you've seen now, especially in the Euro's undercorpop and lots, he's moving away from unnecessarily brought up out of
the back. They're getting back to a bit more long goal kicks, getting point on the opponents half five or second boards, some good old fashioned football that we kind of grew up watching and playing as well. That has got your results, and so he's good to see a sort of a balance for returnment on the game. Chicago farst side the left, rolls it into Kayper's good quick turnout of pressure. Yama puts his hands up, referee looks at it, puts the whistle to his mouth. Free kick for Chicago in the
Sounders defensive half of the field. Sounders hold five yards outside the eighteen yard box, but Sounders FC socket is presented by Provident, Swedish official healthcare partner of Sounders FC get here in the seventeenth minute remains Neil nil Sounder's gonna back up here and the big men for Chicago going to move their way up the field. Tron sitting just outside the eighteen yard box. Chios also just getting pushed away by Jordan Morris, Sounders holding their line or go short to Herbert's
gonna whip it in with his right foot towards the back stick. A little bit of miscommunication step Cinders, I think it was him and z comes in volley over the top, gold kick for the sound As remains nil nil, but chance out of nothing really for Chicago. Steve's that going, Yeah, it's definitely a chance. I think, you know, Chicago sort of got away with it because then the Chances put the ball into the box and bought
their big men forward. Tried to be a bit too clever playing playing it around at first, but Indian it did get across in when I dropped to him Andez it comes gouty as a ken Steve, it just feels like they're overplay. Was Jack's Regan trying to clip a ball into Russ snapt Hand's side with the middle of the park he's out of position, Yeah, yeah, and it's not much rust and the bull's coming into my head height fresh from defenders. Even if he gets that, can you Renna do with it.
I think again, it's one of those where you played the bard a bit further up the pitch, because maybe Jordan Morris or Leotu don't win the first hurd up, but it can challenge enough to make sure that the Chicago Fight defenders don't win it cleanly either. And there find for second boards thirty thirty five yards from board where you want to be because Leo Chu, going from
left across the field eventually cuts it back. Finds Read Baker, White and jo Ruzneck hugging this near left Touchlin JP had to his left, Foo whips across the six, falls into the hands of Brady, who falls down. It gets gives Chicago chance to reset. Brady over fifty appearances for the club, the most appearances for a homegrown goalkeeper since Sleolina, of course left just a couple of years ago to go to Chelsea. Rumors are that he may
come back to MLS to get some games under his belt. All gets launched long, challenged by Kaiper's good challenge by Jackson, tries to cushion the ball to Read eventually goes out into the Sounder's bench. It's gonna be a throwing four. Chicago this near side the right, full slate of games in MLS today. You haven't seen Jordi Alba's goal for Miami, go watch it firecracker from thirty yards and then Atlanta. If you haven't seen that goal, go
not go into appleormls dot com you'll see that one as well. The last minute of the game Atlanta, Ford kind of hung behind the goalkeeper. Goalkeeper had it in his hands, the back four went out, he rolled it out, then he nipped in front scored the winning goal. That was a win for Atlanta. I've seen the great tear and redo that. I've seen you on Dublin do that back in the day. Clever, It's very clever. The keeper's not aware, has a very very clever way to go goal
certain the egg on your face if you're a goalkeeper. Here comes Rosnik, top of the box twenty yards, just gets nudged down. Nothing given by Joe Dickerson. Experience referee sounders pick up the pieces given away by Chicago top of the boxes. Rosnik click with the outside of his to Morris strike blot eventually headed up and away by Suke Cushion, headed by Vargas, give it away by JP just a little loose on the touch. Jimnez drops his shoulder,
rolls it out to Eric goone. He knocks it down the line to Herbers tries to roll it into Haile Selassie, Sounders and Yema pick it up. Albert Vargas knocks it from center down this left hand side to Leo Chow just flex it over the top play by cho It's something and nothing goes over the end line gold kick Chicago here in the twenty first minute remains Neil nil steep sack one. Yeah, I never quite came off, but I don't
mind that. From Obed Vargas got his head up. Paint the board in behind space, give Liltwe something to chase and the end Leo two couldn't quite create much from that, but that's why you want to hear the sounders do at times. I love the little build ups and interchanging and intricate, be a bit direct at times. It's to Leo your true strength. I don't think many defenders in MLS can scull stratfordtrad with him or John and Morris, so at times you do want to give them a chance to chase things.
On that occasion, nothing came of it, but it's definitely an option to Sounders have to utilize a little bit more more cleared by Brady one in the air by JP. Good header into the chest of Christian rolled On has come all the way across this left hand channel actually nudge in that that referee gives it fell and free kick for the Sounders. GP put it down quickly,
head up, eleven men behind the ball quickly for Chicago. So they try to claw themselves off the foot of the Eastern conference mentioned Chicago was given away both US and that picked up by JP. Middle of Park and Chicago have invested in their squad, just haven't got the results here. They come on the right hand side, right in front of Brian Schmidt, who's sitting down in between his assistant coaches. It's analyzing and watching, so he tries to
see the Sounders get off to a goal lead. We'd love to see Steve the excitement of last week again, but for everyone blood pressure, I think he's a nice, comfortable three mil winner would do us fine as well. I'll do us just fin a nice routine home victory. But I do think for the Sounders that you know, Brad and I were discussing it on the Sounders FC podcast just this week that it does for this this little stretch coming up is the make up break. You have four of the next five four
at home. That's twelve points. You could really get there. Make this place for Fortress gets you up to thirty seven points, and it'd be a great run in the last seven eight nine games if you can do that. If you don't, if you don't make the most of that there, you're falling further and further behind, and it's a long way to come back. After the summer, the Least Cup break Open Cup, maybe you start to
focus on that a bit more so. I think for the Sounders, these next crop of home games are absolutely massive in terms of the twenty twenty fourth season. Yeah, before these last two wins against Minnesota and Dallas, there's only one one win at home or season five tires another loss. If it wasn't about losing it, lumin it was about not getting into three points of Jackson Reagan rolls it out too, and Ie rolled on. Wead to danger.
Well, that's what the Sounders do well. Knock it down. The line almost finds the feet of Jordan Morris off the Chester Christian rolled on, here comes Chicago, good Tierras rolls it down to Dean Well played again by Alex Roldan, and he does what we've asked the back line to do, clears his line. Sounders were able to step up, Yeah, exactly cleanly,
line bugles up towards midfield. The sound is able to get back into position, get their defensive block in shape, be nice and compact, and ask the fire try to break us down again, so really cutting out the risk of giving the opponent extra opportunities. Todger Brian, Yes, So he talked a little bit about the sound of trying to find that balance between build
and knocking it along. It worked well with Minnesota held a kind of that high line, and we talked about sometimes you need to even get your head up, you just roll the ball out your feet and knock it over the top. Sounders have that speed on the left hand side with it chew and of course Morris up front, Yeah, rich, fine of form is Jordan Morris got the winning goal eventually gets Minnesota coupled with poor our throat of course two goals last week as well, so he's starting to find his feet,
find his form. Sometimes we do talk about Jordan not getting as involved in the kind of general play throughout the first half is a low number of touches, but so always found himself for the last month or so in the right place at the right time to finish it. He has and he's proven when he's has a number nine he can be very streaky. Once he gets one or two, then you feel he's in to have a chance to get three or four. And I think the thing about Jordan is He's always seen himself
as a striker. We've loved him on the wing in his time in the Sounders, every time I've spoken to him, and he's at times gone public in the media. He wants to be the number nine, and I think he's getting that run now and he's rewarding Branch, Mets and the coaching staff by really taking claim to that and making it his. Yes, but we don't want to seem a bit more involved in a player. I think he's
a player that can do that. But listen, if you are a strike up job number one, put a board in the back of the there all the greats I've done it over the years, and you want to put your name into that sort of tier of the top strike is not only an MLS but football in general. Then he's put a board back of the net,
no matter how many touches you get. Twenty five minutes gone here at e QC Pitch, lumin Fields Sounders nil, Chicago nil, and the score of date is presented by Tequila Herradora sounds to pick it up middle of the park, giving away cheaply by Alex rolled on all out to this near side of Eric Gooni him and has making a running behind array, going on to his weaker left foot blocked by JP's fry, scrambles across try to save the corner, isn't able to do it, goes over the end line for a Chicago
corner and Jordan Morris who mentioned it, Alex rolled on twenty eight touches on the game so far, Jordan three, Yeah, you want to see a bit more than three. I will see how how much as we can say, you know, Straker doesn't have to be involved, et cetera. I think you want to see a bit more than that from Jordan Morris, And that just means reading a game. And over the years we've seen the LEAs
of the old buzz and Ruy, Diaz and Clint. They'll come deeper time just to get a few touches quick play from the corner kick for Chicago, they clip it towards his backstick, towards Kaiper's play by JP reads it heads the ball clear knocked up in the air by Suke towards the back stick, headed away by Yama. Top of the box. Good brave defending by Leo Chu heads the ball eventually cleaned up by Tehran big stocky strong Columbian Number four
sits in the middle of that back three. Suke has it crossed the halfway line to Eric Goney, asking for some help, rolls the ball into him and z Bro's next puts a little bit of higher press. Now sounders pushing across the halfway line try to force the game the speed. It feels like it's kind of died down a little bit steep after the initial bursts of energy in the first ten to fifteen minutes it has And I think it's what a fire one. I mean, they're upwards high fifties, low sixties in possession.
You do not see that very often here at Newmanfield. If I think for the fireing one, this kind of game was more methodical. They don't have to chase the sounds. If you get into a running match with Leo Chu and Jordan Morris, you're gonna lose and get this crowd involved in behind it. I think that's what the sound is. One for the fire, a bit of a slower game, keep the crowd quiet, take them pick our chances. They want to create two or frequent chances. That's it.
They didn't want a game with both him to get seven and eight chances because in those in that kind of game back and forth, I think it sounds have a bit more firepower. So this is a good way to take out the lights of Jordan Morris. Leo to Russneck without the ball. They're that's good as it's a good game plan so far by Frank Kropolis. Ye Mary go and it comes inside off red ba Ker White and driving forward top of the box. Good step by Jackson Reagan and then JP cleaning it up.
Well brings it down down this near left corner with his left Foot's gonna clip it down the line. Well finds the foot of Rosnik. Good play by Rousnik and roll down Rossnack went. So did Jordan Morris given away picked up by him and as the mercurial number thirty as I just say that it gives the ball away, sloppily gives away a foul. Just the curse of the
commentator, Steve, he's giving happens so often. Then quick comment of about the play of him and Az and then he was falls over the ball, gives it away and free kicked to the sound as they get it going, rolls it out fast side the right to Alex rolled on. Christian was asked just last week about the difference between he and Alex and Christians as ever can
have played it down. They played in the position very differently of cause Christian filling in for his brother Alex at right back and he did an admirable job.
They do play differently. Alex Rolldan plays high and wide. Christian Rolldon likes to come inside and pinch in given away by Readbaker Whiting in possession Hyler Selassie strikes the ball, slices it into the Ameral City supporters behind sephro and Fry's goal and just little sloppy build the other back Steve, it's lock py, but Harrison Assi there, he's built out the Sounders whoas once Readbake White gives that away and he's in I mean Kaipus is an acas space. He
makes him run right down the midde if he lifts his head. It's a simple fruit board the number nine to one on one. He did not do that. Indiantic's wild shot down is nowhere near on target and the Sounds can reaver a sound relief. But be talking about all evening long. Do not take unnecessary risks on the back line and they dinner go Yes, hell Selassie twelve yards out slots it in. It was sloppy again by the Sounders on the right hand side, ball giving away and then two three passes by Chicago
finds hard Selassie. This time he doesn't miss the chance, puts it in the back of the net. Chicago got one gold him. Well, it's a great finish. We'll give him that. It's been coming the Sounders again, architects of their own demise their own downfall here. It's trying to be too cute at the back and it's not taken pride and possessing the ball, and it's not one person, it's going through the whole team, and it's a giveaway again and very You just had a massive lit off and again it's
trying to build, not cleaning the passes. I mean, Soleassi maybe gets by Jackson Reagan there a little too easily, but once he's one view one Stephan Fry, he makes no mistake this time puts the ball into the corner and you've got to say the fire ticket deserved one no lead hit at Newmanfield YEP, thirty five percent possession for the Sounders so far in this game.
Chicago have taken control in the last fifteen minutes or so and get their just rewards with a goal, take advantage of a Sounder's slip up and as Steve zac Quanie mentioned on the replay, and like Jackson Reagan could have done a better job closing the ball down he was he made the decision for half Selassie who flicked it between his legs and then for about twelve yards with Stephan Fry coming out, he slots it into the bottom corner and the Sounders have another
hole to dig themselves out of. Down one gold till here. Good left footed ball switcher play by Rebaker Whiting Fines rolled on, rolled into Jp to yeaim Our. Good solid touch forward almost two touch tackle there won by Chicago, cleaned up by Obed Vargas. Sounds need to be a little bit cleaner
in possession here to get these fans on their side. Get here. In the thirty first minute, Sounders trailing one gold to nil against Chicago, bottom of the Eastern Conference but just one loss in their last five, Noben Vargas
flicks around the corner to Jordan Morris. Not been involved too much in these first thirty minutes or so of the game's Leo Chuda Rozneker's again not being too influential that number ten or I'd love to see him get more involved in central areas of the field, as reed ba kerwhit tries to switch to the point of a tech straight into the hands of Brady and Chicago will take that all day long. Steves like Corny, Yeah, they will. It's forcing it
a bit there. You've gotta be a bit more patient to read. I think sometimes you'll see the player make the run, but the person has to be absolutely inch perfect to have any chance. And it was on that occasion and for the sound is here's the thing. You don't overreact. Are you playing well? No, you're a goal down sort of a goal you've given away through your own poor playing. There's a long way to go in this game. You've got to just edge you way back into the game, step
by step. You don't have to go for it in the next five minutes or so. You do have to improve, absolutely, but it's just been a bit lack luster, not testing a goalkeeper, not getting shots off, not creating chances, not looking at the sort of sounds to the seed based on the decent recent form we've had, and so you just slowly start to edgeway back into the game without quite frick gung hole and leaving yourself too exposed at a back to more down to the sound is just look a little sluggish
right now. One shot on goal so far versus Chicago's five. Chicago's shots on goal have been dangerous if I's lastly missed a really good chance and then followed up a minute later with that goal. Jordan Morris running down the line closed out by Tehran It's near side, the Sounders left barreled into his suke
by Jordan Morris, an easy decision for the referee. Chicago fight get their free kick deep on their right hand side and they'll take their time as they start to look at the clock because we get to the last thirteen minutes or so of this first half, not too much stoppage for the referee to add on. Brian schmittzer on his feet trying to organize things. Sometimes there's a head scratcher, Steve for a coaching stuff. They do all this preparation during
the week. They've got momentum from some great results at home and also of course at Houston coming back for two goals down, showing resilience in character, and then they see their team come out and just not play in the manner in which they need to play in terms of sharpness. Yeah, it's maddening because I saw Smets before the game and he seemed confidence, said, it's
been a good week of training. When a good place. We know what's that state not only tonight but in these coming weeks coming up, because then you will get sort of that break of the open carp and the League Cup as well. So you want to stack up asmon as you can in MLS. You can't ask for more from the scheduling gods to give you. You want to give it the Sounders, But then you do go out there, and he said, I mean, it's not a great Fire team and you're
making them look really good. Just it's too easy. Sixty percent possession for an away team is really unheard of, fair and ruminfield, and so take take hats off to the fire give them credit. But the Sounder is do have to improve all over the top two Leo Chu tries to barrel around Tehran picked up by a Rusnak, giving away by Christian Roldan good defending by him, and that's in the middle of the park. Is gonna be a throw in for the sound is right in front of Flank Kloplus and the sh Chicago
bench in the hands of Open Vargas hands it off to Read Baker. Whiting
sounds in to find a quick response. Here we know the five minutes after you score a concene sometimes the most vulnerable sounds of being bitten that way a couple of times this season already, and they find a response quickly go into the locker room least tied up. There's going to be another throwne for the Sounders with Read Baker white and stepping forward getting a chance on that left back position he's played in a couple of different spots and his starts so far this
year. Flicked on by Jordan Morris, which rolled on it isn't able to wriggle out of pressure change by read clumsy on Aragoni free kick four Chicago. But this copyrighting audio casts of Major League Soccer may not be retransmitted, reproduced,
or read broadcast without the express written consent of Major League Soccer. Getting here in the thirty to fifth minute, Sounders nil Chicago one, and this score of date is presented by provident Swedish Brady knocks it along sound as faithful in full voice again tonight mind the sound end Gold bouncing up and down, flags waving could turn out of pressure by JP Christian goldan run from the sounder's
bench. Keep it a weekend by Christian as he puts his head, looks up to the heavens his Here comes Chicago right handside with Hebers clips it into the box and she cleared by Yemar turns by. Chu comes back eventually to help with his team, but just sitting high on that left hand side, playing on that left hand side, Steve, when you make a mistake because
ball goes over the top goalkeeper comes out reads the game. Well, Maris almost had the run on Tehran. As Tehran goes down to the ground, I think he potentially picked up an injury, a sick crank cloth blast just slapping the back of his head. I think it was a hamstring injury. Fans don't like it, but I think he was an injury as he was
chased the ball down. It looks at some discomfort as Tehran. Yeah, his left hand went immediately to the back of his left leg in the hamstring era, and you don't want to speculate ever, but he was an immediate discomfort. Then he's been attended to by the fire medical staff. It does give both teams a chance to regroup, get a little bit of hydration, and just have a couple of instructions from the culture stuff. I've seen. Andy Rohse is up there talking. Brian Spencer had a little bit to say
as well. Tom Deucher's in conversation with Stephen Fry. Just a lot of conversation happening for the Sounders because it gives you a chance and it's almost a culture a time out in basketball, for example, will join us in celebrating Pride month tomorrow at the Seattle Pride Parade, Sounders FC and fellow local professional sports teams will be marching together to show their Seattle Sports Pride. Go to Seattle Pride dot org for more information. As players continue to walk around,
converse with each other, get a drink of water. As Tehran film the deck inside Chicago's eighteen yard bocks, he chased down with Jordan Morris. Jordan Morris looked over with actually some concern on his face as toront kind of yelpedtown pain and then fell to the ground. As Brady read the game well, came out of his eighteen yard box and cleaned up the danger. It's a quick free kick from JP. So a break. Let's get you a couple of the results around the league. It's been a full slate of games.
New York Red Bulls two, DC United two, New England, our opponent next week, getting smashed five goals to one by Columbus Crew Montreal four, Philadelphia Union two. On a run of winless games for Philadelphia Union, Atlanta to Toronto one. As you mentioned that goal in the final minute of the game worth watching for sure. Nashville one into Miami. Continue there winning form sitting high on top of the Eastern Conference. They win two goals to one
in Nashville. Sporting KC get a win at last, two goals to nail against Austin. Houston Dynamo get a one nil win against Charlotte Dallas fall at home one goal to nil against Cincinnati. And there it's Vancouver white Caps at home trailing two goals to nil against Saint Louis City, Santos A Earthquakes, Luci Gonzales getting fired earlier in the week after their poor start to the season. There drawing nil nail against LA Galaxy pauland Timbers at home trailing one goal
to nil against Minnesota United, who are trying to find a win. And then LA FC winning one goal to nil at home against the Colorado Rapids. And that is going to be a change. Tehran is gonna go off, and there's gonna be Lurisio Pineda. It's gonna come on the field, former UNC Chapel Hill product started most games, starts again tonight in the bench and then comes on here in the ninth Minute's gonna sit in the center of that
back three like for like switch. Good player to bring off the bench and Steve as we'll get here in the final five minutes of this first half. You just want a bit more energy, a bit more finish off the first half strong, get the fans something to cheer about, get in the locker room, and then kind of resource it. Yeah, it's very it's been very lacklove stuff. In the opening ten minutes. We're not bad. You sort of sounded Reseid, we lack the intent seemed to be attacking, seemed
to be very positive. And since then as the fire sort of sucked the left out of the game from wrong bouts, off possession and passing and passing, it's taking away to sound a sort of the dynamic style they wanted to have today. And so you've got to generate that. You know, you can't always wait for the fans to get you go in. You have to generate that. And I mean he's hard, running, hard, tackles second boards, winning that shots from distance, and just get the game going.
Find a way to get back into the game's house. Selassi on their left hand side ten yards from the end, like cuts back, comes back to good Yaris. You're twenty two initiative product grow and play, picks the ball up middle of the park, lots of expectations for Gutierra's The ball goes through the middle by Chew into the foot of Jordan Morris, looking for support, rolls it out to Chew, who comes up left corner of the box, takes a solid touch forward, clips towards the back post, bounces through,
picked up by Shihos and knocks it over the top of Rosneck. Cleared down the line and out there's gonna be a Sounder's throwing on the far side the Sounders, right. Good quick play by the Sounders. They're trying to penetrate through the middle of the back. Three we'ren't able to get their players up and support, you know. Brian Schmidtzer talks about getting four up in support when the Sounders are an attack, especially when the ball's out wide sound It's
gonna only get three in attack. On that time, it was Chiw, Morris and then Rosnick, trailing is all knocked up. Assistant referees flag on the far side goes up as alectual DN king back from an offside position. It's gonna be a free kick for Chicago's get here. In the final four minutes of the first half, Sounder is trailing one goal to nil. They gaint Chicago Fire. You know, things gold this way and sometimes sometimes you
can sort of predict what a coach might see at half time. And really I'm really not sure what branch you can say, because it's not just one thing. It's that it's sort of and it's not just one playoff, it's it's sort of collectively. The energy hasn't been there. You can't really coach passion, energy desired. That's got to come from the players. You've got to have that. You've got a sense to that we're in good form,
but we haven't quite done it and turn that season around yet. We're getting there, and it just hasn't happened yet for the Sounders today, and you want to see that. We'll start to see signs of it. Toda Morris the last five minutes a bit more involved. Whos have a free k K for the sound is a chance to get it brought into the box perhaps and put some pressure on the Chicago Fire back lines. And you've seen signs of life, but on the whole it's been defoid of energy and a little bit
lack of that stuff for the Sounders. Yep, yellow car for Panado, and that's an SGB yellow car or a fell is called SGB trial lawyers are here to help visit SGB dash lord dot com. Sounders have a free kit right channel. As they attack the goal to our left, thirty five to forty yards from the end line, Alex Roldan in support to the right, hugging the right touch like quick little touch by brosnek into JP finds Alex Roldan. They'll run by Christian down the line back to JP's a clip it towards
the backstick. Brady's gotta go up flails at it, but eventually gets his punch lands on his back heavily. There's actually two goalkeepers on the bench for Chicago, so they continue to struggle with injuries. Brady holds the back of his head, which the kind of pushes himself up, still sitting down in a six yard box. But twenty twenty five season membership deposits are on sale now. Kayper picks it up, rolls it in towards Herbers Reed ba Kerwhite. It just settles the ball. Let's go roll over the end line. It's gonna be a goal kick before the Sounders. Stephan Fry Chicago Fry. I'm putting some high press. Selassie and Kuiper's sitting on top of the Sounder's eighteen yard box football on
the top of the sixth and it's gonna be Fry. It's gonna clip it to it's near side. The left picked up well by the Reed, bay Kerwhite. It comes on Insigners preferred right, giving away sloppily. Jordan Morris maybe needs to show for him there, and I think we need a help there. I think I like Reeds drive to come inside. But you need options, you need you need leo to Jordan, who wants the board, who wants to show everyone sort of just stood there was marked up at the
defender. There's no two yard burst show for the board. Check one goal. So listen, Red give the board away. By the time, it's not the gaw on the board is the options? Yeah? Literally, no one's played the ball to JP picks it up to get here. In the final minute of the game, we'll see what the referee ad has been a couple of stoppages now, one of them being, of course Tran who went off injured. It was a lengthy bit of medical support from the Chicago Fire
medical staff. Eventually went off, replaced by Pinaedo. Sits now on a yellow card. Sounds are gonna have probably a couple of minutes, at least maybe three minutes added on by the referee. We'll look down and we'll get that number to you. Some inch towards the forty five minute mark, picked up by him in out the middle of the park and good Tiera's little ball slip ball into Kaipus, doesn't get neck picked up by the Sounders in possession.
Four minutes of at a time of this first half, as Morris makes a running behind, goes down by Beneda strike sick good save by Brady comfortable in the end on his front post. But it's gonna be a corner kick for the sound of Steve Zachuani. Yeah, and it's good playing the first time really. Albert rust has got the board running towards the back line facing board slips in Jordan Morris and Jordan and ankle was against him. Did as
well as he could. A force as saved on your near poles and get the Sounders a corner and set pieces become key when you're behind and the Sounds, how do we scored from them? Finally got one? Can I do it again? This week? I was singing about Russ at this time he was a little longer towards the back stick headed clear by Pineda too. Alex Roldan whips it blocked by Chicago, picked up by good Years, hooks it clear as it bounces inside the center circle, rolled back to Stephan Fry by
Reed Baker winting hail slash. He just holds his run to close down, called back by his midfield sounders have eighty five yards to go now to test Brady. They build themselves out the back with Jackson Reagan. Again, we've talked about Jackson and the game after, so I had to find their form over the last couple of weeks. But it's been a bit of an up and down season so far for the two center backs. Jackson, as you mentioned, could have done a little bit better maybe with that closing down on
Selassia. Now I think so, And I think for Jackson it's a part of that. You know, he mostly he's shown he's an MLS level starting player, but it's that leap, that next step. But that's what a consistency, you know, when we talk about guys like if you go really far back, Eddie Poulpe and Chad Marshall, players like that, they were very consistent. It comes Christian rolled On, rolls it into Russneck twenty five yards from gold left of center. Now top of the box, plays a
ball into chewel On the six, picked up by Brady. She was asking for Morris and made that run into the front post. Couldn't get there safely in the hands of the Fire goalkeeper. Yeah, and I think at this point the sound has got one halftime one because they begin to find some forman who you probably don't want to hear from branch S Messer right now. And I Fire do want half time because they have their one goal lead, but
they're sort of losing their shape a bit. Sound assigned to find holds fine spaces, penetrate game behind me some Jordan Morris twice and Leo cho just now also game behind. The final pass hasn't quite been there, but you begin to see signs of the Sounders being dangerous in the final fun Discount Tire get thirty percent short average weight time when you buy and book online at discount tire

Bor gets whipped in good clearance by Yamar but to the foot of good tieries blogged again by yam are We played by Sounders central defenders. The ball goes long held up by Pinnada, already on a yellow card. Playing
with Fire. Joe Dickinson gives nothing the crowd asked for something. Fire have it in possession inside their half of the field with him and z experienced Argentinian player. Just slow the game down. You gotta think now prenade is a sub comes on the field experience in MLS somewhat. Now you got this pace of Jordan Morris and he's on a yellow card. Yeah, it's the area
to attack. And I'm almost certain that's gonna be mentioned at halftime. Maybe Precky just whispering in Jordan Morris's leo, TU say, those guys who are up there can really that be on my mind. If defends on a yellow card, the way the defend is gonna be different. And you've got to make him play to his weaknesses, which is chasing you and running in behind, don't get into make it a physical confrontation. So the sound is now be mentioned at halftime, and I do think branch Miss just gonna ask for
more, which is gonna be I need a little bit more. Guys. We know what's at stake here. We did it last week coming back. We know we can do that part and everyone if you can play a little bit better, and that's what it's not gonna be a rah Rasby. It's just a just employing these guys. Just play a little bit, a bit clean defensively, some of the risks will taken at the back and in the final third gonna be a bit more dynamic, show a bit more drive.
Desided to be first on the board. Show for the board. And as I said that, schmess is up obviously pointing at Jordan or Leo. For one of them, it's made the running behind his high Chicago back lane. Well. As the referee blows as we're sl Brian Schmetzer shakes his head in disappointment. He glares towards the attacking line of the Sounders. No option for Reedbakerwahiti when he had the ball in possession. The Sounders trail at halftime.
Hil Selassie goal in the thirtieth minute put Chicago in the lead. They held that lead going into the locker room, and for Brian Schmetzer, it's all about a half time team talk. Now we'll take a short break, Jackson Felt, Pete Fewing and Brad Evans, we'll be back to break it all down halftime here at EQC Pitcher Lumin Field in Sounder's nil Chicago Fire one. Now time for the Sounders FC halftime show. Well, those first forty five minutes here al luminfield for your Sounders were not optimal, to say the least, Sounders down by a score of one and nothing to the currently last place in the Eastern Conference, Chicago Fire. We scored in the thirty minute on a giveaway a highly Selassie put it away past Stephan fry on the one on one and that has the Fire up one nothing. Jordan Morris has as
many touches as Stephan Fryer right now. Pete Fewing brad Evans Jackson felt to here from a halftime show and Pete that that wasn't pretty. We can't not much we can do that. That wasn't pretty, No, it was not. It's we were flat, not sharp. We had hoped the energy would continue from the great win here against Dallas and just giving the ball away a little too much. Frankly, uh, Chicago's had the better chances. Fries had to do much more work end goal. There were a couple of chances
at the end. Jordan Morris didn't have much of an angle, got off a pretty good shot, keeper blocked it, and then we had one last chance on the cross from Chew. But the quality isn't quite there. And so hopefully they can take those two little chances and say we got to replicate those and we've got to do better with them. But the energy has to be better. And now, if I'm Frankie Klopez, I'm an happy guy.
Right go park the bus. We've got one guy up front right now, They're gonna put a lot of guys behind, so Channel's gonna pick it up. Bradrick, Yeah, look, question, I don't think it can
get any worse in this second half. I'm not sure what Met's is gonna say, but from our viewpoint, anytime you play against a team with a back five and you play two wingers that are gonna be so wide, that means Jordan is one versus three, And as soon as Albert Rusnat goes out to a wide position, that means that the number six for Chicago, whoever that may be in that instance, is now blocking any passing laying into Jordan so technically Jordan's playing one against four at times, So yeah, he has
as many touches as Stephen Fry does because there the Sounders aren't being dynamic enough. Yeah, they haven't had any runs from the midfield. Obed hasn't found himself in the attacking third. Maybe once, maybe twice. But at the end of the day, you have to figure those things out on the field as you're playing. If you're Jordan Morris and you have Albert that constantly keeps leaving you, that is supposed to be your provider as a number ten,
and it's not happening tonight for the Sounders. So there'll be some adjustments at halftime. Not sure what they'll be. We'll find out, but those things have to change. We'll talk about in a moment what those adjustments could be. But yeah, not a lot happening for the Sounders at all. Right now, Pete, really quick, before we took a break, what do
you think Brian Spinster is doing in that locker room right now? And Brad jump into I. Brad would probably know better than I. I think he's getting after him a little bit saying hey, come on, this is a great opportunity. We got to get three points tonight, We've got to pick it up. I would say he'd be pretty animated in this situation, trying to get some energy, trying to light a bit of a fire. I don't think you go in calhm in this situation. And I think the other
assistant coaches have to get with players as well. And they got a rally, they got forty five minutes to get back in this. Yeah, I think it's a case of Chicago's been first to every ball, They've been to every second ball. How can that happen at home? That's what Smets is saying. Who's gonna fight for me today? And who's not gonna play laxadaisical. You can't just come home and expect to win games. How many times
we talked about it in pregame. You face a Kansas City team that hadn't one to ten and then all of a sudden they come in here and put one on the Sounders. Whatever it may be, every team has their own challenges and it's the puzzle you have to figure out well. Taking a look at the Sounders bench tonight. It includes Nathan josh Atensio, Paul Rothrock, Danny Mazowski, Cody Baker, Danny Wave, Dylan TeVeS, Andrew Thomas the goalkeeper and he is back. Pedro de la Vega
available for Brian Schmitzer off the bench. We'll see how much he can give. But Pete Fewing down one nothing right now. This match needs some Pedro de la Vega, it does. It needs his creativity and his dynamic play. Paul Rothrock looks like he's warming up right now with a little more intent than the other subs. Doesn't have the BIB on. They're playing him wide. I can see maybe Paul Rothrock coming in. I love what he's done
when he's come on the field. He's brought energy and optimism and he's doesn't give up on plays. And right now he looks to be he's coming on it. Look you look at it, he's coming on. Yeah, the way he's warming up, it looks like he's coming on. And you know what's fun, Brad, I'm sure you've been like this as a player, where you've been coming off the bench, you lift your teammates up and you have that kind of confidence that you're gonna go on and make a difference.
I'm on the field now, let's get going. So yeah, butfully we see him at the end of the day. Hard work Trump's everything. I don't care how skillful you are or what you know, what kind of talent you have. If you don't work hard for forty five minutes, the coach can sub you off at any point, right that that is that is always an option. And he already has his jersey, so he'll come in at halftime, and I'm sure he's making that change. Maybe for Leo Chew coming
off at halftime. It just wasn't good enough from the sounders all around. Right, if you could save all eleven players in a snap of finger, maybe you could. In that half. I think they gave what was the final stat maybe thirty five percent possession for the Sounders. Oh unacceptable when you talk about Schwetz's standards of what the Sounders they want to achieve to give theirself
the best chance. And when you're playing against five in the back, you have to assume that the Sounders would have majority of the possession in this game, and that just hasn't been the case. And it's been bad giveaways, disinterested at times from the Sounders. Need a lot more in the second half. Paul Rothrock will be coming on tw twenty five. Season membership deposits are

Sounders. Sucker on Sports Radio ninety three point three kJ R FL, Welcome back Sounders fans to EQC Pitcher Lumen Field where the Sounders trail of halftime here one goal to allegate Chicago Fire. As they get the second half underway, Sounders attacking the goal to our right, the south end. They're in their
anniversary kit, green shirts, blue shorts, White Sox. Chicago attacking the goal to our left the north end, all in red tonight, their traditional colors all the way back to nineteen ninety eight when they entered the MLS. The ball goes over the end line for an early Chicago Fire goalkick. So let's get you the lineups for the Sounders coming out of the second half.
There is one notable change. Paul Rothrock coming on the field. It's gonna play on that right hand side, and then Christian Rolldan's gonna drop back to right back and Alex Rolldan makes ways, so it's gonna be Stephan Fryan goal back forth alex So Christian rolled on Yamar Reagan, Read Baker, Whiting, JP alongside Obed. There's gonna be Roth Rock, Grusnak Chew and then Jordan Morris I Chew does pick that ball up left hand side to JP's a clipper
towards the backstick. Couldn't beat the first man our selastic goalscorer in that first half. It's na able to collect and the Sounders have it ball into the foot of Obed. That was quiet in that first half was Obed compared to recent performances. Ball clipped in too far by Read Baker, Whiting, a couple of giveaways by Reid the first half. But we'll see Steve if he's gonna give a license to go a little bit further forward. But we talked
about when he got the bullet's feet. At times there's nothing available for him and that's gotta be a message for Brian at halftime. I agree. I think that's a big part of it. You need guys that are showing that a brave that won the and I think for the sound it's a very bit become Jackson Reagan ball giving away to Kuyper's ar Salassie in the box. Kuipers towards the corner of the six cuts it back, bundled over his JP.
Well played by JP just got its body between ball and player. Forced the foul by Solassie to go a free kick for Sounds in the eighteen yard box. But again that was it came from that aerial ball reed Baker Whenton came across Jackson, Reagan didn't call him off, and then he gives the ball the way slops. It's becoming too many errors defensively, and it's the one part of the pitch where you just honestly you can't afford to consistently make those
kinds of errors. And it sounds seem to be all over the top. Brady clears it, Rothrock's the front of Rusnak keeper back tracks now back in his goal. Chew down the line inside the eighteen yard box to Rosnak, cuts it back to Chew left corner of the box. Look clipper step over clips towards the backstick, easily collected by Brady, pouring everybody chee in the
end. Sounds had a couple of players in Rosneck, oh bed Rothrock and Morris in the box couldn't find him remains Chicago one Sounder's nil early in the second half. Yeah, I think for the Sounders, you saw a halftime change. You don't often see that with branch Metz, so he's not a guy that's gonna often make the halftime change. So that change was about energy. I don't think it's about the thinking. You know, rough Rocks are more quality player than out Lox from Dunn. You know, aleixl Down has
been a player, He's proven himself a lot of quality. But pushing Christian to right back, you know he can still cover it on the right hand side. And a rough Rock has been in good scoring form and he's gonna work hard, he's gonna run, he's gonna chase lost causes, he's gonna be available, he's gonna show, and sometimes that can be contagious and just
run through the whole team. So hopefully that it works out in that way for Branch Medicine Chios chased down by Rothrock has to go back Chicago build out of the back farst side with Suke inside to Herbers Chicago pretty comfort in that first half out possessing the Sounders, Sounds picking up fast side the left with Red Baker Wahi to top ball into JP is able to fend off the pressure
in this picked up by Herberts, it just wriggles out of pressure. The heart Selassie All almost finds the foot of Evers going in behind cut out by the Sounders, picked up by Vargas, far side foul by Chicago one. Vargas, we're a free kick for the Sounders inside their own half of the field. As Rothrock comes wide and high on this right hand side, right in front of Brian Schmetz, so as it gives him a couple of instructions, All goes back to Fry and then back to Jackson Reagan. So,
Steve, let's get more into what your thoughts are about Brian Schmetz. So we thought maybe you'd give the team a bit of an old school rollicking, maybe halftime to get them gosit It felt he was just sluggish and sloppy, especially considering the energy gafter the last week's game. Yeah, I think that's what would have concerned him, sort of like you'll be baffled and mystified a little bit scratching your head thinking why would you not be energized? What more
do you want? We in good form we're at home, fans are behind us. We've got a next few at home for of the next five actually, so it's a decent start. Thenisf just played into Chicago's game plan. The pressing wasn't quite good defensively, a lot of sloppy mistakes, and they crept through the whole team. So I think we've just been a case of take a deep breath, guys. First, it's cut out the defensive errors.
There's too much, too much of that going on. Then on the offensive side, just need guys who want the ball, who want to show you want to make runs. It doesn't have to be pretty all the time
or precise at times, because you's got to grind out. And this is a gameless If the Sounds win this game today, it's gonna because the sleeves were rolled up and they grounded out all down the line to Christian rolled on ten yards from the end line, whips in towards the backstick, eludes everybody, bounces through where's that chasing it down, just about gets there, saves
it. Well done. Albert back to Read Baker, Whiting square into JP pressure from Kaiper's from behind overlapping run by Read Baker whiting is Albert tries to slide the ball into Chew inside the box, well defended by Chicago again defending stoutly. So far, we're given the Sounders too much to play with in the game. So far only three shots on goal for the Sounders actually just
three shots in total, one shot on target. Prenada's gonna clip it towards this near side to Dean, unconventional position for him outside in his left hand side, so he comes inside. Former USL player with Birmingham Legion signed in
January of twenty twenty three. As Chicago build from the back far side their right as they attacked the goal to our left him and let's get you the Chicago lineup, no changes coming out in the second half, Brady and Gold back three of su K Pineda Chia host Preneda coming in for Tehran in that first half due to an injury Arigoni, Jim Andez Herbers and Dean in the
midfield, and an attacking three of Selassie. The goalscorer Gutierres and then top goalscorer Kaiper's up front and it comes Paul rothrock It's near side the right, just inside outside the eighteen yard box cuts back. Good defending by Dean, comes back to Christian Roldan ball into Rock Rott just love it away from him. Jp. You're defending by Chicago as it clips the ball into Kaiper's old school forward trying to hold the ball up. Good little play by Reared just
dropped his shoulder given away as a heavy touch. Defending by Obed asked for the throw, he gets it fast side the left, throws it in quickly to Jackson Reagan. That are ten post so fast the exact one. Yeah, I do feel the energy is better. The quality hasn't quite caught up yet, but that can come. The hard running is there, the intent is there. You've seen given goals, the pressing, the boards lost,
the local Jordan Morris Chressian role done. We get three or four guys at round the fire, not making it ease for them to play much much better than the first half, where they seem to be passing at their own pace, own they had the whole ground to themselves. Second half a bit more personality so far. Now you have to up the quality a tiny bit. Then you give yourself a real chance to get back into this game. Well,
today's match is presented by Tequila Herodora. Tequila Herodora combines tradition and innovation, honoring over one hundred and fifty years of award winning tequila making history. Please drink responsibly. Sounders training one goalton Ill against Chicago Fire here in the fifty third minute QC pitch lumen Field ninety three point three KGr FM. Wherever you're listening to us, if you're synced up on Apple Tonight at home,
out and about, we appreciate your joining us. As we approach the July fourth week, Sounders trying to get their third win out of three at home. Steve's that Corny has mentioned a couple of times for the next five games here at EQC pitcher lumin fields are lots of chances for the sound is faithful to see their team play at home, so all goes in behind. Here's Jordan Morris. Good recovery by PINEDA left part of the box outside the fat
just eludes Roth. Rockers flying into the post picked up this near side by. Christian rolled on, cuts it back the JP clip towards the backstick, head it down, bat it down into the turf and then collect it on the second attempt by and the fire gold. But good build up by the sounders and you can hear the crowd getting into it much much better from the Seattle sounders. There you can see Jordan Morris off the ball running. It was a great pass by Russ Nike and we see him do this so many
times over the years. The outside of the right foot cross by Jordan Morris, and there's a ar chick because when the cross came in, the sounders were convinced that Rothrock was tugged back. They were convinced that the reason he didn't get to the board is because there was a tug on his shirt. Pracy was up to the fourth official right away and it's a good sign here.
Refu's going to check the monitor. Steve, You and Brad talked a lot about Rothrock in your podcast this week, and it was about effort and energy and that's all that was, and that's why he came to get the box. Yeah, you got pulled down, you got ahead of the defender. Absolutely loved the kid. I saw him today when I came into the stadium, I stopped by. We had to chat for a couple of minutes. There Rock, He's been tuged back, and if that's the reason he
doesn't get to the board, you have to give it. So is it a clear and obvious eraror that's what's going to be determined here. Yes, I always say yes. I mean when you listen as a defender, you put someone someone shut like that, you take a risk. But that's the hard running. That's why he came on. He's a kid who has desire, he has passion. He wants to get the end of things there and this is gonna it's gonna be a big, big hole coming up here. Yes, it's a penalty, but it is a clear and obvious error.
That's the criteria they use for va I. We're about to find out what's happening here. Yeah, yeah, penalty for the Sounders. Rosnak already has the ball in his hands to stick it on the spot. Worth Rock again involved in an attacking sequence. They will give the Sounders the chance to get on the board and tie it up here and it's Ronk ball on the spot. Is this the chance for the Sounders to get back into this game? Tie it up? They played on the front foot coming out in this second
half. Some choice words, I'm sure from Brian Schmitze. It's got the team going and now they have a chance with Rosnek five yards back from the ball, hands on his hips, Joe Dickerson, the referees making sure the fire outside. Here's Rosnack. Can he get his second goal of the year. Takes a step slowly up, fights about on corner and the Sounders are
marketing here at lumin Field. Sounders won Chicago one. And then the end from Abbot Rossknight because as cool as you like always, I'm a great chance to put a point to the back of the but the Sounders have to deserve this. It's been a good start to the second half. The energy has been there. Upon seeing it on replay, it was definitely definitely a penalty. Good court at a referee and the sound is now with thirty five minutes plus to play. One ball goes along by Chicago, picked up well headed
by Yamar deep to Jackson. Reagan plays born to JP, continues to play out of pressure to Jackson, I want to get on some credit. No lack of confidence from the big center back. All goes into JP and Chicago trying to find themselves back in this game. Here putting some higher press on
the Sounders taxon Reagan's gonna clip it and given away again. Sometimes he's gotta go along Chicago pick it up inside the Sounders half of the field to Jonathan Dean who pulled roth Rock down for that penalty that Rusnak put away for his second goal on the campaign nine assists as well. To add to that, ball goes in to Kaiper's well marshaled by Yamar as he goes into the corner flag over the eight near touch line. It goes a yard or so from
the corner flag for a Sounder's throw. But Stevie look up on the board here it was Rouznak. It's just a nice quality shot to the goalkeepers right goalkeeper in the right way, But it was just the quality of the shot
goes under him. Yeah, I mean you're right. I mean there's not too much pace on it, to be honest with you, but it's right in the corner, and you put a board that much in the corner, it's a long way for the goalkeeper to get across and get down and I think in the end it's just that's that's the quality that Rossnak put on that particular penalty. There and he's been in good formulately aber Rosnak, and I
think in the second half he's began to find the game more. From twelve yards he makes norm mistakes, but now the sounding it's well points for them. You've sat of got off of your slump and the lackluster sort of demeanor you had. It's at one one. It's not a game you came into time. You came into this game. One of the three points and it's all there for the taken. Here comes Herbert's pocket picked by Roznak, and then a Vargas. Here comes Russnik's driving forward ball goes in behind. Well
played. Choo's got it, pushing forward to his left foot cuts it back. Here comes rather Rock top of the box. Can't quite get that. JP straight sets just over the top. Good incisive attack by the Sounders. Eventually fell to the foot of JP, who just narrowly puts it over. It's gonna be a goal kick for Chicago, but the fans are on their feet. It sounds one Chicago want Steve's that quite and it's a different film around. This is what we came to see. The sounder is really playing
on the front foot there as this comes back. First of all, Lil Trudeo's really well across the board back. It just evaded Morris and rough ruck. As this comes back to JP. I mean you can't get closer than that. I mean that is inches wide of that of that left post. JP hit that so well. Unfortunately sounder is he hit almost too well and you couldn't quite hit the target. It comes Coutierra's marshalled again well by YAMR just clips it over the top. Sounds continue to play with confidence out of
the back. It feels like there's a new way of playing these days. It's We've talked about the building out of the back from goal kicks, but it just feels like teams do take a higher risk. But it's about inching the ball down the field and then when you get a chance to go,
you gotta got a Christian rolled on dropping back that right back spot. As we mentioned the first half, he's commented on how he plays that position a little bit differently than his brother pinchers inside and he's see him doing right now playing alongside JP or Most as a second or third central midfield player. As Vargas slides out on his right hand side as rothrot drops it back to Yama. Brian Schmitzer on his feet, just orchestrating things from the sidelines, just
outside his technical area. Because Vargas has been so influential for this team in these last weeks, notably his assist last week for the winning goal for Jordan Morris. I see this is where the sound is now first half forty five percent possession, now sixty one percent possession of the second half, starting to kind of get a grip of this game and start to really influence the way that energy. I mean in the last forty five seconds. I just watched
rothrock a little bit. He's made four runs off the board inside, did again, it came back, made another hard running behind and all this does is it keeps the back land. Honest, They've got to stay with him. They've got to be aware. We didn't see it in the first half. We've seen Leo True run a bit more, jo the Morris run a bit more. It's football. There's always been running involved. You have to
run, and in the first off the Sounders didn't run enough. We've seen a lot more off the ball running second a lot better by the Sounder. Here's Rasnak driving forward top box finds Leo Chu cuts it back to Russnick block well by Pineda, picked up top of the box by Vargas to a Christian well done right hand side just in the box cuts it back to JP. Goold say by Brady almost finds the first that was rough Rock coming flying in
on that backstick corner kick Sounders one one. It's a different team, it's a different stadium. The energy, it's alive, the sound is given the fans a lot to cheer about here really pushing an envelope and unlucky not to be two one up it comes Russneck for short corner goes in headed clear by was Kaipers finds JP is going to clip it in side the Sounders left pulled
down by Christian rolldand strikes it over the top, high and wide. But of a relatively poor first half, a Christian rolled on, getting much more involved in the second half. He is and I think for him it doesn't really matter if he's playing right middle, right back. At this point, bran Em has made a point on our podcast that he thinks Christian for the
longevity of his career future could be at right back. Was he's so good and just sort of being He's very good on the board, can defend, and he knows when to go inside and attack, and you know he'll be better than most right backs on the board because he's truly a midfielder. So
I think Christian actually likes that position. He plays it really really well, has done well in recent weeks and then this game in particular, in the first half the game sort of bypassed him, but he's finding a lot more of the board and finding different pockets of the on the bridge to receive the board in the second half with that right back starting position. But as you mentioned, he's going inside a lot right now he's standing against side the centers
up. I know those questions asked just years ago about when Christian can have broke into the team alongside Ozzie that roy back from a standpoint of whether we went to Europe at that time of playing in the national team level, right back might be a spot for him. So you're taking advantage of the opportunity. Right it comes good tire at the top of the box, just side steps, simple shot from twenty five yards into the hands of Stephan Fry.
Here's that man. Christian rolled up it's driving forward, no press across the half way line. JP toy is right, go square to JP on this near side run by Rothrock opens up the space inside. Ball goes in to Rusnak to Morris blocked into the hands of Brady Good again sight of build up from the Sounders, but they're knocking on the door, Steve, and it's good football, the lacks of which we did not see in the first half. That's the sound as we like or not. One touch, two touch
given bowl layoffs interchanging. That's Christian Cannibal down the middle, JP getting around on the outside inside the box. You had Leo to Russnick and Jordan Morris, and which means they're hungry to score balls, get to the positions. It's just a thing we did not see a tour in the first half of the fire. Right now they're scramble him because they kind of keep up with
his temple of the game. And you can see why they came in and wanted to slow it down and make it very methodical, because a gung hole back and forth is favoring only the whole team. Brilliant passed rolled down to rosa equally good ball by Rous that injured. Chew plays it ball to roth Rock asking for ham ball. Refree games was saying the rod Rock again yellow card. It was the sha host. But it's Paul Rothrock involved for the
second time, and it's gonna be a penalty for the Sounders. We having a chance see a replay yet happened very fast, but rough Frock immediately playing for the penalty, and the referee had no hesitation whatsoever. He called for the penalty. But again it was enough sounds attack. They'd be coming in waves. Wave off the wave of attack. There was another one there by the Sounders. I was seen a first chance on a replay here. I don't know the question now is there is there enough to turn that one?
Yeah? Yeah, this is it hits the hand, but it wasn't out stretched his hands by his body. Yeah he has given it. Yeah, he hasn't made his body bigger, that's one. And his arm isn't out a way for his body, so we know that. But again it's not a question of is it though a penalty or not? Now? Is it obvious? Clear and obvious mistake. They'll be checking it. There'll be in his ear. That's one of those ones. If it's not given, I don't know if it's overturned, and if it is given, I'm not sure
it's enough to overturn it. Evil. We've seen a replay here and it's I mean, you can't say it's hard on Chicago, because yeah, it's never No. I can see this one coming back. I could see it because Rock Frocks were a yard away, half a yard away, firing a board, arms not out arms by the side of your body. This is completely at the referee discretion. I can say it went either way, but
it's not as clear cars as it would have bridge a new phone. Well, Paul Rothrock came on the field Minnesota, I think it was when it was when he came on. I think Alex Roldan went off with that concussion in the first minute of the game, and he played an influential role in that game. Played very well. Comes on a half time. Whether this gets turned over or not, it is Rothrock again getting involved, Yes, just getting getting your head down and running into areas. He's made a different
at the box. He's made a difference the old fashioned way where it's just hard work crafting and we're seeing another He played a way his arm does look to be away from his body. I mean, this is and I think you're right, Steve. The question is is there enough evidence to turn it over after review? There is no heir of offense committed by number five Chimago keeper. Well, he said there's no hand but I think it does he's hand. I just don't know if it was it met the criteria four.
I think the sounders are asking for, yeah, what doesn't want to kick? Yeah? Yeah, what happens inn and the referee saying it's a bounced ball from the point maybe of the handball, it seems an odd decision by the ref sounds sound as players walking around asking the question. I think the referees is getting a clarification. Sounder is going to start retreating. JP just standing inside the d at the top of the eighteen asking a couple of questions
of the referee. Is he has the ball in his hands, he's going to drop it down to the goalkeeper and Brady and the fire goal is going to pick it up? Or remains one one here in the sixty eighth minute, the referee goes to his monitor withdraws his penalty decision. Sounders, now we'll find that second goal from a different source, ball up in the air, headed by Reagan down the line. It goes without even thinking, does Ruznek pulled down by Leo Chu. Let's get you the bench. For the
Sounders, it's Nathan Atencio. Rothrock came on the field at halftime for Alex Roldan Mussovski, Andrew Thomas, Cody Baker, Leva Tevez and then Pedro de la Vega. We talked about it at halftime off air. Is this a night for Pedro de la Vega to come on the field, get his minutes that Bryn Schmidtzer and the coach staff will surely try to give him. Can he create a bit of magic on his return to the the eleven For the Sounders, it's been a stop start campaign for Pedro de la Vega and his
introduction to the Sounders franchise and team. Hopefully we see him having a run of games now. Build that confidence up, feel that strength. More goes over the top, all bounds through Brady and roth becomes clattering into wrath Rock smashes into roth Rock in adverb collision. Roth got picks it up and then the referee stops him. The goalkeeper is down. Fans are booing, but the goalkeeper being down is the reason why the referee stopped the rough. Rock's
done nothing wrong here. Actually he's done earthing right. It's another great run. He's done a run from outside in, he's on his right hand touch line, makes his run centrally inside, JP lifts his head up, plays a fantastic board. It's good goalkeeping too, and I think in the end it just collide. And that's the reason why the cord Schmetz is not happy with it because rough from eyes on a board, he's actually clattered into it. So it actually you see Pnado on a yellow car pushing raft Rock into
it. Actually think that's a foulful it soundeth I would agree. I think I don't think a yellow card this, there's gonna be a red car. Yeah, there's a foul. Four sounders. I mean, Joe Dick is an experienced referee. I think you'd have a chance to take a listen. The game goes on past that stage. But what difference the kids made. I mean, does another fantastic running behind. It's old school. It's just old school. Just nothing on the board. He's ran hard, he's kept
you on this he's been busy, He's caused confusion. Absolutely please for poor ro Frock. Right now he's doing printed. You hear the fans continuing to boom. The Dean clatters into roth Rock. Here comes Goocy Ara's left corner of the boxes. The Chicago Fire have it attack of the gold to our left. All goes square strike could save by Fry Therry Gony just on the top of the box right of center. Fire a shot gong seven. Fry palms it over the top corner. Kick for Chicago remains one to one and
I Fire breathing life into their own attack. Kid, they've been domant, they've been nothing so far in the second half. But the warning sign is there for the Sounders. Until you put a team away. The three points are still up for grabs. Can go either way. It Stephen Fry equal to the shot there at the expense of a corner that the Sounders not have to defend coming from this right outside for Chicago a game, it's been second
off the whole game. It's just changed the whole energy inside Lumanfield is different than better. In the first half. Corner kick for Chicago, Selassie, the goals go with an outswinger of the right foot, headed up and away by Yama video Chow chasing it down with Guccieri's He got the speed on Guccierre's could defended by Guccierias and then Sugut who launched it into the east stand. It's gonna be a throne for the Sounders. So we look at the bench
Stevens. Obviously we talked about Della Vega, but I think at this point you've got a week to the next game. Sounders are playing on the front foot. No need it feels like for Brian Schmidtz to make any changes in the immediate future. No, I think the team is doing very well. For the reason you would bring de la Vega one is similar to what Rothrock's done. He gives you a lift and he'll do in a different way because he has so much quality. He'll get the crowd lifted, his teamates will
be lifted. He'll be lifted as well. So made from that perspective, but I think they leave it on the pitch right now. Are doing brilliant, playing really really well. It's Alassid Baller's foot trying to scoop past Jackson. Reagan good closing down by Yemar just clips his heels, gets up,
no foul given by the referee. Gutierres picks it up, goes square into Himinez all the way out to Aragotti farst side, the right right corner of the box closed down ry'd read Baker Whiting cuts back Chicago Fire in possession and sounds half for the field with him and z Now rolls it all the way
back to Pineda inside his own half of the field. He's a fire build and eleven men behind the ball for the sounds rolled into the foot a goodier As rolls at this near side to Dean oneb one versus Christian rolled on, drops his shoulder. Christian rolled on good defending. Ball's not gonna roll out of play. Eventually finds a foot of JP somehow to Rook, who rolls it down the line and it's the type of run that Morris needs to make
potential to help out. His teammate comes to Rosnak, rolls it out from center quickly out to the far side the left Leo Chu steps over it, moves forward read Baker Whiting making a run down the line, opening up the field. Comes back to Vargas to JP forty yards from gold dead center, rolls it out square to this near side to Christian rolled on, pinching in now rolls it into the foot of Rosnik. Good little touch for Morris was
making a run in behind. Sounders have the ball, persistent pressure on Chicago Fire's back line. As the ball goes into Vargas top of the box to Morris cuts back on his right foot, rolls it out to Rosack top of the box to Christian rolled down. Sounders trying to play it a little bit too cute top of the box. I Fire come away with it, clip it from center tos him and as to the far side the right to ARAGONI Kaiper's making a run in behind, tracked well by Yamar, goes out to
Selass just slows the game down. Sounders retreat finds Eric going again far side the right. Chicago Fire all in red attacking the goal to our left. One to one here at EQC pitch Lumenfield ninety three point three KGr FM as we see some movement as steeves that Quarney points down and it's a certain pedro de la vaga against some instructions from Brian Schmitzer. What a time to introduce the big signing from the off season. What a game it could be for
him to come on the field. Sounders haven't won a game this season when trailing at halftime. They we're trailing one nil. Claudia Gold back from the foot of Albert Rosnack from the penalty spot. Now the game is set up nicely for the Sounders number ten. As the ball goes over the top to Yama As he just lets it roll through. It's a little nudgeing about by Kuiper's before I gets it, rolls it out to JP Sounders build. Obd Varga is getting more involved now. Quiet first off over bed, but here
he goes driving forward right from the Sounder's bench. I should rolled down into support. It feels like last week Steve, where it was a sluggish period of the game and the Sounders suddenly found that goal and then it was all Sounders that point forward. Yeah, and it's been that way. Second off was a good start to win, and once the planet he went in,
it's just been wave off, the wave, the fire. In the last five ten minutes, I've come back into it a little bit, not too much, but I think all of the Rod the Sounders, it's the energy. The quality has been okay, don't have been at their very best, but sometimes you can't be always at your best, and you are almost absolutely spon saying not in a vega. Maybe for fifteen minute camere and we're gonna see that here with the time i'd have done and listen to the crowd.
Is Leo two? He got ten seconds? I think it was Leo two. Last week for Paul Rothrock, he had to wait for Rothrock had to wait to come off the field because Leo Choo was to a slowly girl. This time he's having an the girl Brin Schmitz Leo Chu. It's disappointing to come off the field. It's not a bad thing, certainly the events of last week, which hats to sit down. Yeah, it's not a bad
thing. I want players might still on the pitch, but I also fit there's a way to show it. I think you know, you come on, you support your team, that who's going on. You have that work quietly with the culture. Of course you might have to come on. But the remonstrating and body language, I'm not the biggest fan of that, but I'm a big fan of the Navega coming on, he'll be on the left
hand side. He'll play differently to Leo True, he'll cut inside, he'll take out spaces in the inside pocket, which means it's one invitation for read Bag Waiting to become that with Now I think this is the kind of winger regularly better place to play behind, who vacates the white space and can we now see the Sounders young left back also get into the attack and using those eras of his game that we've been very impressed with Verlon in his career.
Yeah, we talked about it before the game, that it's designed that rut for la Vega to come inside and read Baker Whiting to occupy that space. But it's also an inexperienced left side. But here comes the Sounders per touch, da Vega picks it up right on their feet, comes inside to his right foot, shrugged off the ball. Well, good defending by Chicago. Play it down the middle of the field to the yellow card for Jackson. Reagan got a bad place to give it to stop the attack for Chicago fire
to fire players on the ground. One of those gutierres holding his leg looks in severe discomfort. Yeah, he doesn't. They're going to their benches obvious seen two Fire players start to get ready to come in here as well, so both managers digging deep into their benches. Here they tried to find that little advantage, that little edge what can turn the game in their favor.
It's so nicely boised there. I think as sound as will feel. They've been about the two teams and after a green the second half, but the fight still have felt dangerous and at any moment as if they can find a way past the Sounders back line. But one one, twelve minutes to god plus whatever time will have added on. I still says there's big chances and goals in this game. Yep, there's the rain slowly falls and drizzle comes down. Rothrop runs over to this near side to get a ball on the
field. He's already back in play to experience players ready to come on and Kelen Acosta surprise exclusion from the starting eleven. He's ready to come on. And then Chris Mueller plade that Orlando went to Europe, has it quite fun the same form coming back into MLS as he did before he left. Here come the Sounders. Jordan Morris nearside the right rothrock and support gets it to his feet twenty five yards from the end line, plays it inside to jp
pressure from pile. Selassid goal scorer for Chicago. Seventy nine minutes gone here at EQC Pitch, Lumanfield one to one, and the score up is presented by Tequila Herradora as Yamar shifts it from there's near sight to the far side. Sounders looking for the opening, trying to find a way to get another three points here at lumin Field. It was hard going in the early parts of the season, but two wins out of two here at home, and
it's primed for the Sounders to get another three points. The fans are on their feet. Good late June day here the Pacific northwest, warm, little drizzle field will be slick. The ball goes back to Eric Goh and he held it by him and as well tries to cut the ball, closed down by Vargas, all back to Suke, closed down by Morris, clips it long. He tries to get past, but Gps brings it down brilliantly out the air and then kind of gets caught with it, caught in two minds
giving up. Here comes Gutieri's far side the right charging forward. Chicago fire in possession with hearers to Aragoni to gutierres all the way back to Pinado. Came off the bench in the first half of tront who picked up what looked like a hamstring injuries. He chased down Jordan Morris. It looks like to be a third change for Chicago as well. It's gonna be Tom Barlow, former New York Red Bulls player forward. We'll see who these players come in
forwards. The Sounders pick it up and they're attacking third of the field to Jordan Morrow's top of the box back to Gold goes down well by Pineda, wriggles out of pressure. Wristian roaldin and support. Jordan Morris gets caught too slow on the ball. Did the hard work. The Sounders recover the ball with the foot of Obed Vargas to strides forward, clips it over and he can fly out ball into Red Baker white foot of Rousta fast had left.
Dropping the shoulder by Red on his left foot, drives it in good ball, punch clear by Brady De la Vega heads it back in up and away by the Chicago back line. Ball bounces through good play by yam r carm and composed flicks it to Jackson Reagan. Sounders good sustained pressure now as they build in this second half, almost sixty percent possession in this second half. De la Vega square two, Christian rolled on rothrock to his outside, ball
goes into the box strip by Bargas. Great saved by Brady, hacked clear by him and es all Sounders right now one one here at EQC pitch luminfield. That's a good save. Christian rodun again in that inside right position. He plays a very difference to his brother where he'll be my inside almost an extra midfield up. That was a good run by Fargas. And if Fox wasn't on, de la Vega was behind him. You just did not see that in the first half. Multiple runners from the Sounders trying to get into
the box. That was a good say by Brady on down occasion box Yew keep pushing and looked the more likely at two to find our second bond pressure and Eric onid by Reed Baker White. He found Gooccy areas fire plight of pressure airs. De la Vega comes flying across count quite win the ball. Then it is backed up by Rothrock hustling, chasing down. It's been his involvement in the second half that's really been the catalyst for the Sounders. Lights
flicker on and off, on and off again. I think that's a led light show that was designed. But they're back on for right now. Chicago in possession Masovski for the Sounders standing alongside Chicago fire lights go on and off again? Are three keeps it going? Chicago in possession? PINEDA last thing? The sound is one right now? Is it delay in the game due to lighting issue in the stadium as they play on the front foot three subs for the fire still waiting to come on. The ball has not gone out
of play for a while. The ball gets launched a long by fry cushion air by Suke into the middle to Herber's chased down by Christian Roldan and then Jordan Morris. See who Brian Schmitzer makes a change for good play by game I wins the ball off Kuiper's JP Roth rocking support this Ryan side right in front of Brian Schmitz as he points forward, go into Christian Rolldan now in the attacking half of the field, goes into Rusnak gold Scroll from the penalty
spot. It feels like Chicago f I just kind of hanging on until these three subs come on. Steve, Yeah, yeah, any reinforcements, and they've been on the side left for quite a while. There's been no stop which and play. They need fresh legs, different energy because right now they're
chasing shadows. The Sounders seemed to have an extra player on the pitch almost finding good spaces, and the Sounders also going to their bench hill where it's been very, very good in the second half when I see how sound is and what it was was just a change in the energy and desire the things that you can't really call She's got you can only only demand first from yourself as players and then from each other as teammates. And you saw that second
half night and day and the fire. They're bringing three on and getting a fourth ready, so they're really gonna shake things up here. You see there's any kind of formation change. It's like for like, but maybe it's a sign up. Both teams really going for the fire, saying look at one one here five minutes plus some change to go with at the time, we fancy ourselves, maybe Nick one as well. We're gonna try and keep up. JP comes off the field for the Sounders here in the eighty fifth minute
Asofsky comes on the field. Looks like Rosneck will play alongside bar Gas Lesovski looks like he's gonna play up front. Jordan Morris on this right hand side. Saw that change when Rude has came on the field against Dallas. That changed the game up. Morris found two goals from that position as Massovski. We know that Massoski can play this back to goal. It's an option that
Sounders haven't really had this game so far. As the ball goes into roll done to Morris over Black and run by Vargas comes inside this Morris, there's ball with Dela Vega one too, doesn't quite payoff played by Chicago. Good touch by Reed, a good defending by Mollow came on that Ryan side for Eric Gony. Barlow comes on the field for Kuiper's and it's gonna be a
cost who came on the field in the middle of the park. We've got a confirmation who that was for posentially for Gooti areas freaking for sound is dead. Sad of the field Sounders looking for the winning goal. The third game that had to come from behind for Chicago's gonna be fourth quick change. Good CS is gonna come on the field, big burly strong player replacement of the goalscorer Hallie Selassie. See if Chicago play a bit more conventional, more defensive,
now just playing maybe a solid five trying to claw out result. Here been all Sounders in the second half. Here come rolled down right, hands towards the backstick, towards Brady, who just palms it out to the far side. The sound has left picked up by Rothrock. He's gonna whip it in, head it up and away by Chicago Dean, headed up by Barlow, and then roll Down picks up the pieces at final three minutes of regular
time Sounders one Chicago one. The score upate is presented by Providence Swedish Sounders. F six socket is presented by Provident Swedish official healthcare partner of Sounders. FC Jemar has it to the foot of Massovsky to roll down. Rolls it down the line too. Jordan Murris strikes it across the six yard box. Brady picks it up here in the eighty eighth minute Sounders one Chicago one. See e's that going? Yeah? I think from the Sounders now you just
need that that second win, that second push. I think they've pushed, they've hauffed, they puffed the fire, have staged strong so far as you enter the closing stages of this game, for the Sounders, you need one more big push and dig deep, one more because the three points aren't there for the take. You take a lot of inspiration from the second half performance is a case of too little, too late, not too short. But there's one more push it. There's one more big chance and you've got force
it, You've got will it to happen for the Sounders. Hey couple de la Vega flex it round cleared by Chicago. You can get here in the eighteenth minute. Sounds Fans. If Sounders FC scores any time after the eighty eighth minute during a home match, you'll have the chance to win free Lasik surgery from Sharp Vision, Modern Lay Sick and Lens. Sign up today at
soundersfc dot com. Slash laser focus is Dela Vega tries to clip it over the top, bounces through, Brady collects it the bottom left corner of his eighteen yard box picks it up as Jordan Morris closes down the branch. Meant to see who's gonna be happy with his side's response after he has first Yeah, yeah, whatever. It was set at half time and I have a feeling it was the guy sometime he's on you know, a colt to tell you anything if you're JP, if you're russnack Jordan Christian Now has he been
around the bronck? Now? Do you know when you know you have been at the races? You know when you're not up to pass. So they find it within themselves, hold each other accountable and listen as you can. Sales are poor first half, it's been that much better of a second half. At a moment's still not enough because that second goal hasn't come in a game you really came in open to win and probably have pinned well enough to
win. What's there's still time? What goes out to the left hand side inside the box, driven across the six, whipped across, bounces through all the way to this near touch line for a throwing for Chicago. But good attack by the Sounders went from center to left Reebaker Whiting slashes across Bradius six yard line Chicago to walk cup down, take their time, burn on some
seconds. As you mentioned the right Breen are back at home for a clash of Conferences against New England Revolution on Saturday, July sixth at seven thirty pm Pacific. Watch the match via the MLS Season Pass on the Apple TV app and listen on ninety three point three KGRFM and l RA thirteen sixty am. The Provident Swedish pre match show starts at seven pm. It's a free kick for the Sounders, quickly played by rusnak overlapping on Goldaran whips it in is
going to go high and wide over the endline. Poor delivery and goes up by rolled on. Yeah, goal kick mains one one unexpected. You don't often see that from Christian Rodun. Just a poor delivery there and acres of space and lots of time to get it right. Didn't wasted opportunity. We'll see what the board holds up there and be an interested to see what eight for a long time that that should lift the sound. If I see that as a sound as player, I get a lift. As a fire player.
My head goes down a little bit because they're just edging over the line. They want this point. Fly back to Illinois and Settle say, hey, we went to the neumanfield, gave it our best shot. Left of the point. The sound is one. It's eight minutes. They don't want a game to end because they really believe they can't find a second ball end up playing like him, throwing for the near side, the right, right in front of Frank Kloppos that continues to be on his feet, pointing,
directing his team to find their third tie. In the last six two wins, one loss, two ties. The last five a resurgence of sorts after a nine game streak where they didn't find a result. Ball goes down the line towards roth Rock as he drags down on Sue k flicked around the corner over the far side line. It's gonna be a throwing through the Sounders.
Joe Dixon just encouraging the Fire just to avoid time wasting. Joe Dixon's experienced enough to know that away team's got their backs to the wall and a resurgent Sounders team giving away slowly by Rusnick didn't look up, played it right to the Chicago Fire player Kutsias and then recovers well, picks it up, drives forward, the costa comes back, ball goes inside, picked up a Baneda and then and there's a penalty Banaeda sloppy, challenge, awkward. Jordan Morris
goes down and the Sounders have a chance from the penalty spot. My initial foot there was seeing a reap on the big screen. Here was a it. Maybe Jordan asked fout, Yeah, yeah, yeah. He doesn't look up, doesn't look up. He's trying to clear a board. He has no idea. Jordan Morice has crept up on his right shoulder, his blind side, and he just hacked him. Not intentional, but still a fault.
Well. This copyrighted audio cast of Major League Soccer may not be retransmitted, reproduced, or read broadcast where they had the express written consent of Major League Soccer. As Jordan Morris gets to his feet, the fans are on their feet. Then the Sounders find a third win in a row, and
it's gonna come off the penalty spot with Rosnak. The Sounders have been awarded three pks, one was taken away, one was scored, and now Albert Roussnak there's a responsibility as the Sounders number ten, a fine three points for the men in green. Fans are on their feet. Ross Neck takes a breath, steps forward, strikes in the same spot as the first goal. The shirt goes off, the Sounders celebrate and could that be the winner? Here at lerman Field Sounders to Chicago one. Well, I think this part
he's even better than the first one. It ends up in the very same point up with a lot more paid Sounders. I've come out second half a different team, made a different game, and well deserved. Here has to go to one up with just a few minutes to go. The croctis down Russ snack the man at out she assists last week, two goals this week and really starting to stamp his authority down on this Sounders team. Now they
have to defend four minutes to go here and whatever else. The referee adds on Sounders leading two goals to one, a comeback again for the Sounders. There was two goals down against Houston, they came back to tye two to two goals down, last week one three to two, one goal down here against Dallas, and as of right now, with three and a half minutes to go here, the Sounders leading two goals to one, but needless foul given away by Jackson Reagan. It gives a Costa and Chicago chance. Forty
yards from the end line right channel. Sounders hold on top of their box. Free kick ball comes in, headed up and away by Yama and then again by della Vega. Here comes della Vega chasing it down. Brady comes out reached the gager Well five goalkeeper was doing a good job a couple of times. Ball slid down the line. Here come the fire ball inside the box, headed up and away by rolled down and hut clear Why the Sounders back line. Masovski with his left foot switched the point of attack to Rothrock,
Who's gonna challenge the ball. He's gonna bundle down because Muller on the far side the right throws it up, backs up. It's gonna be a fire free kick. Minute thirty left, actually two minutes thirty seconds left on the clock, headed clear by jam up from the free kick from Brady. Dean rolls it across A. Costa's gonna clip it in challenge well by. Delaveaga comes up his back, ricochets up in the air, heading up and by him Andez flicked on to the far side the right to Muller double team
by roth Rock and Reagan Boar bounces in. Good defending by Yamar gets there first, headed by Della Vega. Down the line, it goes towards Mussovsky as Dean comes across, takes no chances, knocks it out. Just what the Sounders want see xacquey it Is and brash Press have been very smart here going through his bench making a sub. This is as much of getting an
extra defensive play on the pitch as also breaking up the momentum. The Fire have take some time off the clock because since the penalty the Fire now I've had the board and the Sounders half their whole entire time almost then ninety seconds to see this out. What would be enough massive result for the Sounders. Three home wins on the trot, four positive results, a bunch of home games coming up. Things looking up for the Sounders. Good player by Mussovski
comes up, a costUS buy over the end line. It's gonna be a corner kick for the Sounders. Sometimes gamers don't have to be pretty. These have to be about character response, and the Sounds have done those two things tonight. Dela Vega short corner, ruds about to read Baker. Whiting slips it up in the air, back to Dela Vega down the far side the left, pulls it down, head up, back in the eleven tonight off the bench, goes forward, gets bundle. It's gonna be another Penaltyfrey gives
nothing that look more blatant than the first one. I mean, that's gonna be a penalty. I mean he gets he's in front of a gets across him, which are taught to do so they can't make a challenge. The defender makes a challenge anyway, and he goes down. So I'm I'm not sure why it's not been given there. Maybe you think it's given reason enough, but that's would be a pedalany I don't know what the record is,
but three penalties is gonna be somewhere up there. Yeah, Jordan Morris runs it over the end line to get here in the final minute of the game. Joe Dixon's just gonna hold it up. It's gonna be a substitution for the sounders of Brian Schmitze. Nicely done by Bryan is a lat ruse that come off the field a little bit quicker now than you role. You have to be off in ten seconds. But it gets to standing evation. Nathan comes on the field. Sounders are gonna go to a three. You're gonna
defend this goal. Two goals to one out the Sounders after coming back from two goals down last week to win. There was one nail down at halftime. Two announced goals by the Sounders, both off the penalty spot, both by Rosneck. Yeah, and the second half will be Schmetz. I think the first off, you throw that film away, you never watch against nothing to learn from DX. Wasn't good enough. Second half that's who you want to be, that's the kind of team you are spied to be. And
you came out here second off and top the victory. So I think for the Sounders that'll be very good. Another come from behind with a result. Four games in a row where they've got positive results. There's some home games coming up. They're beginning to turn the season around. His Sounners team as they get more healthy, get more well rounded as well. Good played by
Rock and then good play by Red Baker White. He rolls out to listen near so Jordan Morris, referee looks at his watch, were past the eight minute mark, minute past that while Gone drives forward inside the box, strikes a good sake by Brady oh Dela Vega was inches away. Would that have ended the story here at luman Field? And there's the referees whistle briant result for the Sounders, third win at home of three, and the Sounders now
signed the build a fortress. Here at lumen Field. There was Selassie in the first half that got Chicago on the board, and then to an answered goals Rosneck in the fifty seventh by the penalty spot, and again in the ninety third minute off the PK spot, Rosneck finds the winning goal for the Sounders, his second goal of the night, Steve Zak one of your final fourth. Yeah, so the second off was very good when the Sounders, you know, first off spoke about so I have to let lost art,
no energy, no desire, no passion. Second off night and day, different story. So I give a lot of credit to the boys out there to brush mess. And he's coaching staff and of course Albert russ Knight, who's been getting better game by game, week by week, and today listen, it doesn't matter how you score from a penalty spot, you still gonna point one back of the net. He did that. Sounders picked up a
massive, massive wins. The team that's feeling really good right now. And the last thing I'll say that is again the bist to come from behind. That's not easy. It's a sign of a very good team who never know when they're beaten. And that's what the men in rave Breen are beginning to get into their groove. And it's a massive, massive three points where we ask for a comfortable three zero win today to make us all enjoy the game towards the end of the last minute. But these are the type of games
that keep the fans coming. Sounders last week come from behind to win in injury time, and again today off the foot of Albert Russkneck, the Sounders get their three points that as of now leap frogs the Sounders into the playoff spot into ninth with twenty eight points. Austin sit as it stands right now in tenth spot with twenty seven and Sounders. We're back here next week, same time, same place. Gas the New England Revolution to try and find
another win to push themselves up the Western Conference standings. Well, thanks to everyone involved in today's broadcast. Here in the boove with Terry, Ryan Mitchell, Bly back of the studio, Keeley Dunning, Kevin Ka and of course the Sounders legend Steve zat Quani. We'll take a short break. The Sounders FC Postsmat Show starts now. Well the comeback kids can't stop, won't stop, and
they do it again. For the third straight game they've come back from a deficit, and for the second straight game they've come back and gotten a win. It's a final here from a now rainy Luminfield two to one Sounders over the Chicago Fire. They were down one nothing after a thirtieth minute goal for Chicago. Then Paul Rothrock comes in at halftime for Alex rolled on and Paul Rothrock adds a bunch of energy in. The Sounders used two penalties in the
fifty seventh and ninety third to beat the Fire two to one. Come back City USA, and it just keeps and for the Sounders as it's now ten points in the last four games and right now they are holding the ninth spot in the Western Conference. They're back in the playoff picture. What a win here tonight at Lumenfield for your Sounders and welcome into the postmatch show Jackson felt Pee viewing Brad Evans here for the next twenty to twenty five thirty minutes or
so to break down this win. There's a lots to get to, but Pete, let's quickly start and Brad too, your initial reaction to what is a dramatic Sounders win, well much better in the second half, just energy alone, and you got to give Paul Rothrock the credit. We Bratt's been saying it where we're watching the game. Danny Jackson just said it as well, there's no substitute just for running, just to put your head down, get to that near post. He clearly was fouled on the penalty kick that
created the momentum to get the team back on the game. Jordan Morris did the same thing. But he just brings. He brings some grit and bite. And I'm sure Brian Schpetzer saying we need every playing like Paul Rothrock, right, and he's he's a kid on a small contract where he's taken advantage of his opportunity and that's a good player. You know, he scored in
a National Championship final for Georgetown. That's what he brings. And you know he gets you don't get an assist for drawing a penalty kick, but he certainly raised the standard brat in the second half. Yeah, Look, I think it was a tail of two halves for the Sounders. And coming off what was such a successful three game week last week, you know, maybe you get a bit complacent, think that things are going to be easy. You come in, you face the worst team in the Eastern Conference, and
it was anything but that in the first half. Right, we talked about it Sounders with only thirty five percent possession in the first half against a team that struggled all year. Now, as of late, Chicago's been okay though, two wins out of their last three of the four that they've had this
season. And it's really difficult to play against Eastern Conference teams now. Right when I first came into the league, you played every one home and everyone away, and now you only get four or five opportunities to play against East Coast teams. And to me, it's starting to seem like West Coast teams play a certain way and East Coast teams kind of play a certain way. There's to me, there's like distinguishing factors in the way that Chicago plays a
bit unpredictable, and especially with the players that they had out. But the Sounders come in the second half and do the work, and that's the most
important thing, is how you finish games. And I'm sure Schmid's got into him, and you know, obviously maybe the sub was tactical at halftime, maybe Alex was feeling some symptoms, but you know, good on Paul Rothrock for coming in making a statement and it kind of gave everyone a little bit of extra oomph right as soon as Leo Chu saw him running right, Leo Chu all of a sudden came to life in the second half. Yeah, it's infectious at the end of the day. Yeah, he earned that at
halftime substitution, didn't he over his previous play? Of course, he earned the right to Brian Smetcher says, give us what you've been given all the time, and had he not earned it, he might have come in in the sixty or seven. Yet well, Schmidt said last week that Paul Rothross riding a high right at the post game. Yeah, okay, well, then play the kid. He was the first one that was going to be
used to be a Dylan Tevez or maybe early in the year Musovski. But you earn the right to play in the game by hard work, and when you do that, you can generally get yourself on the end of the Sounders have such talented players throughout the field. If you get in the right spot, someone's gonna find you the ball. I'm gonna do it our Emerald, Queen Casino play the match is Paul Rothrocks run. I had down here. You know. Stephen Fries save in the fifth minute, great kick saving a
beauty that kept this match zero zero in the fifth minute. Obviously, you know there was other great plays, but I'm gonna make a we don't even know highlight. I'm just gonna make Paul Rothrocks run the play the Match to play the Match presented by Emerald Quen Casino, the betting capital of the Northwest Pete. That run that earned the Sounders, Yeah, their first penalty. Tremendous run. And his energy and his momentum and the way he works.
I agree with both of you guys. It changed things for this team in the second half. Yeah. I remember as a kid watch him Monday night football and the announcers that say, kids at home, make sure you do this or this, put your head down and get through the ball. And Jordan Morris outside of the right foot hit a really good ball that had Rothbrock not been fouled, it would have been an assist for Jordan Morris and a goal for Rothrock. But yeah, he did it. You put your head
down, and but I love it. I love it. I've been a sub and you say, Okay, when I come in, I'm going to make a difference. Yeah, And and right now Rothrock has that and I know that family, and they all kind of laugh that. You know, Paul gets a little bit under appreciated for what he brings. He brings hard work, blue collar, doesn't give up on balls. He covered a ton of ground in his forty five minutes, and he and he's he relishes the chance to get out on the field. So that's a happy kid. One
day we're going to vote for him for some public office. But right now he's right now, he is doing a great way. When mayor of Seattle, the way his career, he's my favorite player of all time. He's my favorite of all time until that, just because he reminds me of myself. But I've said this before. It's yeah, you don't have to be the best player. And if you are aware of that and you work hard, that Trump's just about everything Ziggy used to tell us when we played really
really good teams is that. And even when you play bad teams, right, everyone has technical ability, but you have to outwork them to overcome, you know, their deficits. Otherwise, if you don't outwork them, they're gonna have time and space to play the ball. We still have a lot to get to you here in the post match. I'll quickly tell you a few things. Trains are quiet and coming both directions, so stay aware and play it safe. Learn more about safety and security on sound Transit. But this thing sound transit dot org slash ride Dash with dash us one thing I wanted to talk about from this game, and Brad you brought it up in the break
too. But the fact that you know, I had to play the match being Stephen Fry's kicksave on the one on one in the fifth minutes and Brad he had a really big day for the Sounders to allow him to come away with a two to one to win. Yeah, look, he'd like to have the one back that that's snuck in though. I think I think if he watches that one over, he almost makes the decision for the attacker.
I think if if I'm an attacker and I see the goalie rushing out at me full speed and doesn't stop, then that makes me kind of second guess what I'm gonna do. But save for that, I mean, Steph was lights out tonight. I mean he obviously had the kicksave where the ball gets stuck underneath his foot like a hockey player. He had the punch in the first half too to clear to clear a you know, an opportunity for the Chicago Fire. And then he had one at the near post in the second
half as well that he sent out for a corner kick. So Steph didn't put a foot wrong tonight. Distribution was good and he continues to be you know, one of the top goalkeeper in this league. And for a reason, I like the fact that when there was an injury with one of the Chicago players, Steph ran fifty yards went to JP and was trying to say, hey, here's what I'm seeing. Right. He's the captain, he's the leader of the team, and he came up big today. And you're
right. You know, when you in a situation like this, you're playing against last place team. If they get a goal five minutes in, we're in trouble. So they got to make the plays when they do. And he did come off his line a couple of times because Chicago got in behind. So he read the game pretty well. And good for him. He has been so good for this team for so you get spoiled, right, you had Keller right and and you just kind of somebody's gonna go take a
shot and Casey Keller is just taking up a huge amount of space. It's the same with Stephen fry Well. I think I think the moment after the goal, you could see Steph was just like, all right, let's go. You know, confidence stands like come on. It wasn't screaming, it wasn't yelling. It was like, we know that we're better than this team, we're just not showing it right now. That's because I agree. That's
a great sign when you have that kind of confidence. And they've come back from two goal sits before, so it's like one, all right, we've come back from two. We can absolutely come back from one, and they did tonight here with the two to one win. Douta Airlines is probut of to donate one soccer ball for every mile ran by Sounders FC players this season

You know, so watch the match five MLS Season pass on the Apple TV app and listen in Spanish language on l RA thirteen sixty and Pete, that's a New England team that's like Chicago having a very tough twenty
twenty four so far. Yeah, they're goals for are eighteen, their goals against are thirty five. They're they're not awful on the road. They're three wins and five losses. But I think we learned tonight that you can't look past anybody in this league. And so Caleb Porter is gonna come in with a plan. He's a pretty good tactician. He will come in probably to park the bus and just try to get if they can get a point out of the deal. But I think Brian Schwetz is gonna look at this and
say, look, we just learned a valuable lesson. We pulled it out at the end. But Brad, you can't look past anybody in this league. No, definitely not. And it's Caleb Porter at the end of the day. Yeah, that's one that we should all be looking forward to playing a couple MLS cups. I mean, he's he's had his success and he's
in a down year. But much like Chicago Fire, this New England team has six wins on the year, but they've four of them have come in the last five games, so they're on a bit of a roll too. Yes, they got smashed by Columbus five one tonight. Most teams have been getting smashed by Columbus anyways, so not too much you can actually take away from that one. And it's just another opportunity for the Sounders. If they win this game and results go their way, they all of sudden are in
fourth place in the West. And what is a better little carrot that you hang out in front of the players this week heading into this home game. That that is where you could be. That's where you should be, is what Schmetz will be saying. Yeah, no question. I mean you look at it and it's getting tight in this number seven, eight and nine spot.
